I cannot just walk around the map, it's too boring for me. I end up running and then being exhausted when I need it. I know there are other perks that I can and will use, I was just curious to see what other perks are broken. WGLF is one, because you don't get stacks for protection hits pretty regularly. I don't play killer enough to know if there are perks that just don't work sometimes. I've never had a game where I didn't get all my BBQ stacks, for example.

Dead Hard works well on PC and it rewards skillful players. it is by far the one perk that I respect the survivors ability to time and execute properly. Anytime I get bested mid chase by a quality Dead Hard, im like damn well played. If anything more perks like Dead Hard is what the game needs, perks that reward skillful time and execution rather than ones that simply go off just for existing.
So was there an answer to my question there? Are there any other perks that consistently do not work like Dead Hard? I actually thought of one, and its WGLF where you just don't get your stacks for it. Imagine if BBQ didn't work. Yikes. But I guess thanks for waxing poetic about how nice Dead Hard is when it does actually work?

I can't run bond anymore. It pains me to see people urban evading around when the obsession is clearly being chased, indicated by the shaking brackets around their name.
Yeah it's painful. I'm not kidding, since rank reset I've died on my first hook in almost every game. I can't understand it. I have games where there are people who not only haven't been hooked, but they haven't been touched the entire game and they won't even try to save me. I forgot how selfish and stupid people are in this game. I just switched to Claudette and I'm not helping a single person anymore. I've had it. But it's only been 10 our of my last 13 games that I've died on my first hook.

I leave lobbies if there is more than one Claudette. Sometimes I won't play with even one. They really are that bad.

It has nothing to do with being a "random" and everything to do with skill and experience in the game.
-
Not in my experience but I'm glad things are better for you.
-
I've died on my first hook in 9 out of my last 12 games, so I haven't had the chance to us DS. Teammates will not make a hook save now that they're done with the challenge. It's amazing.

We all know survivors DC for absolutely everything. But why are the killers being bitches now too? 8 games this morning and 5 killer DC. If you're getting your ######### pushed in does it make you feel better to DC when the last gen pops? Does that mean you won?
It's been my experience that killers have always DCed too, but more people scream about survivors doing it for whatever reason. I already try to make sure all five totems are done every game and there's never a chest I won't open, but there are times when I just stop doing gens because I'm like, this has gone too well for the survivors and the killer might DC if we pop this.

Planned on playing with a friend after her class ended tonight. Sat in duo queue for around 10 minutes. Got matched to 250+ ping server.
Went and played Stardew instead. That's pretty much how it goes every time we want to play survivor together.
I've started playing Graveyard Keeper - it's a lot of fun.

Yup, I don’t think they could do much to improve the situation. It is what it is, the only option players have is to put up with it, get better or play a different game.
"Hey, friends! I found this game I really like and we could have a lot of fun, but you'e going to have to play on your own for months while you learn it." I mean, sure.

Tbf the SWF situation is down to you. SWF lobbies (are meant to) get matched against a killer who is the same rank as the highest rank SWF player. But ye MM is borked rn, Devs have said they're looking at it but it's been really long and I absolutely understand people who've left over it.
I know that's how SWF lobbies are designed and I think it's a bad design. You cannot tell me you think three yellow ranks and one purple have any chance against a purple killer, even if we are on coms. We play for hours and do not power all five gens even once. It's miserable and it discourages new people from playing, which isn't healthy for the game. So sure, that's on me.
-
Oh and when you try to dodge an attack, and you don't move but you're exhausted on the ground anyway? Does not count for the challenge. Here's to hoping I can get this challenge that should take less than a second to do done in my 4th try. I love dying because I got hit once the entire game but NOED.

I did and I get it, but it's not really that big of a deal when you consider its other use to travel distance. Yes it's intended to give you i-frames, but you just have to accept that it's rarely going to give you them anymore. That's more what I meant. You shouldn't rely on dead hard for dodging hits anymore and it's as simple as that because the devs will likely never find a fix for it.
I don't rely on it for dodging hits, but sometimes it's all you can do is try and see if you get a couple more seconds out of a chase. Regardless, the perk consistently does not work and it's not even worth using at this point.
-
Just had two more killer games, I've moved up to 15 and I'm still going against at least two 6s and 7s in every game. Sigh.
I know queues would take longer if match making changed. But I've stopped playing survivor because I can't get a game and quit waiting after 20+ minutes, and this is insane. And are dedicated servers making the game unplayable after a certain time of day now? I used to always be able to get a game even if the ping wasn't that great. Now, two nights in a row, survivor games just disappear at around 9pm central time. Killer is still instant.
-
@ALostPuppy said:
Using dead hard to dodge attacks is kind of not really a thing almost ever anymore. It's still good when you use it for distance and to skilfully outplay an unsuspecting killer by pressing a button to get to a window or pallet so it's still one of the best perks in the game.
But what is a thing is when you hit the button to dead heard and nothing happens, or all that happens is you're exhausted on the ground. I'm not talking about how well or skillfully you use it. I agree it's one of the best perks in the game but it literally does not work in every single game. Did you read my post at all or?

But if there’s no reset what reason do you have for playing? I like ranking up and being challenged, the rift is alright gives me something to do but it’s just too easy to get to high ranks
The game is fun when I'm not left to die on my first hook in almost every game. Just had it happen again. Three fully healed teammates, not one tried to even help me after being slugged. Two teammates didn't even get touched the entire game. Twice while I was being chased, two different fully healed teammates wouldn't take a hit for me while I was already injured. I literally cannot pip when I die on first hook (or get slugged the first time I'm down so they can use rancor on me). It's been 6 out of 8 games now. Green rank and the challenges are making this game a ######### nightmare to play.
I used to run BT as a solo survivor because I just like helping my teammates but I'm at the point where I think the only way I might escape a game is if I Blendette, urban evade, and not help anyone the entire game like most of my teammates. Holy ######### #########.

I don’t wanna hear anything from survivors unless you have something positive to say. If you think this ruin change is positive to the game then I don’t respect your opinion because you’re smoking something. It’s useless now. The perk is absolutely useless. So much weaker than what it was. And even worse, I can’t use pop goes the weasel with it. Because once they get off the gens, it’s damaged. So then right when I leave, they can get right back on. I can’t use the perk til they get rid of ruin. Going against survive with friends who are ranks 1-4 is impossible. Especially on maps like autohaven and Macmillan. The amount of killers playing is about to drop baddd. My ruin is op but i get smacked in the face with borrowed, ds, etc. The only hope of winning is using a top tier killer w noed. And you can’t say “well just apply pressure”. It’s nearly impossible to apply pressure all over the map to all 4 survivors. This is insane.
Literally laughing out loud. Laughing out loud in SURVIVOR, whose opinion you don't respect. Lots of perks in the game are useless. If Ruin is now weak and useless, why are you using it? Use another perk that requires you to have some skill in the game. Pop and Corrupt are better anyway. I almost always cleansed Ruin in the first minute anyway.
-
I'd rather not have reset at all, at this point. I didn't play for a couple weeks and reset back to green rank hell. At first I was excited because I thought I'd get faster games. Ive been keeping track. I have died on my first hook in four out of my six games today, and in each of those games, I had at least two fully healed teammates who didn't even try to make the save, and there was no NOED. I'd rather get mori'd - at least it's faster than struggle on hook.
Update - died on first hook in five out of seven games. One gen to go, two people alive, teammate camped hatch while I tried to actually play the game.

Then I was unhooked and he chased me again so I used it again and same exact thing happened. I know I didn’t use it too late because it happened at the same exact time but it was because of his lag
Oh yeah, I love the exhausted on the ground part of Dead Hard. Happened twice today in one game.

Nothing will change RNG when it comes to teammates. Yes, you might get a better chance of competent teammates the higher you go, but you are also likely to get good yellows and greens who just don't play often. I've not seen a noticeable improvement in skill level the higher I got. There was like one match I can recall where someone ran a killer for a decent amount of time as well, and he was a yellow rank. Go figure..
I have never died so often on my first hook without anyone even trying than I have during this last rank reset. I'm actually keeping track because it's been happening so much. First game today, two fully healed teammates let the other two of us both die on first hook without moving an inch. Second game, with one gen left, I was being chased after trying to make a save. Two fully healed teammates let her nearly die on her first hook but decided it was safe when I went down. They finished the gen and not one of the three teammates took a step towards saving me. One teammate that game didn't even get injured once, much less hooked. There was no NOED. Neither time was I being camped. People are just literally too selfish and terrified to help their teammates. I don't have that happen game after game after game after game in red and purple ranks.

Really? Don't you miss out on a lot of exp for no hooks, downs, chases and hits? What's the point of farming XP if you don't enjoy the game enough to actually play it. Move on to something you do enjoy.
I mean, I played for like 8 hours yesterday and am at level five in the rift. I dont play killer much and I dont afk farm when I do, but if it takes that long to just go up to level five, I can understand why people would want to do it. And afk farming would give xp towards the rift, devotion level, and shards. You miss bloodpoints if you don't chase, hook, etc., but that's separate from what the rift and tome need.

I was looking at the battle pass which I brought last time around, I was hoping the grind would be a bit less. The problem is I don't have spirit. Seeing as completing all the Tome challenges doesn't get you to max tier if you so much as don't have 1 DLC you basically are not going to reach tier 70.
I think if you do not have a killer you should be able to do a "longer" task on a normal killer. For example if you do not have spirit and cannot do the "Hit after phasing challenge" then you should be able to do a substitute challenge on any killer such as get 16 Iridescent emblems.
I get that BHVR want to milk us for all the money we have in our wallets but I personally will not be buying the new Rift pass because unless:
- Completing all of the challenges unlocks the entire rift (If you do every challenge why aren't all the tiers unlocked?)
- There are substitute challenges or "dailies" where you can earn rift fragments to make up for challenges to can't do if you do not have a DLC character.
At the moment it isn't too bad as you can unlock Spirit and Doc with shards but what happens when the Tome is centred around a licenced killer? Are we expected to buy that on top of the rift pass?
You aren't forced to buy them to complete the battle pass. And other games, like Apex for example, have challenges that can help you complete the battle pass with characters you can buy with in-game currency, just like DBD.

I would be careful what you wish for. Since reset, I have gone against or put in team with purple and red ranks who are so potato, it's hard to describe. Lately, the best team I've had were all 11-12 ranks against a Hag. I didn't touch survivor anymore that day; I wanted to end on a high note for once.
I've literally had two good teammates in like 8 hours of playing. I've died probably at least 8 or 9 times on my first hook with no one trying to make a save. Then again it could be the challenges making people play like total morons. Winning the games and being a good teammate don't matter, just getting the challenges done.

It's fine. Once the killers start camping and tunneling you'll be reunited.
Yeah 90% of them are already doing that. I've never died so much on my first hook with not even a single person trying to make the save. It's been baffling.
-
I played for like 8 hours yesterday and I'm at level 4. Survivor challenges are obnoxious, with everyone playing differently to get them done. For example, I always make saves. Some people just hide and do gens the entire game, I've always been one to actually, you know, help my team. I set the hook save challenge and just played normally. Checked back two hours later and I didn't have a single one because it's all anyone cares about, even if it means the games are lost.

I know new Lery's is nice to look at but what are people's thoughts on new Lery's in a game-play perspective.
I haven't played survivor yet on new Lery's but I have played a handful of games as killer, the games I've had have not been an enjoyable experience. When I'm on Lery's feel like I can't provide map pressure due to not being able to travel across the map quick enough due to all the corridors.
Although I am someone who has always disliked the old Lery's both as survivor and killer, I have been playing as Leatherface (a weak killer) so maybe it's too early to call.
Anyway comment your thoughts.
It seems like killers have a big advantage on indoor maps because it's so much harder for survivors to find a gen. I can't tell you how many games I've been using Bond and my teammates are just walking around, looking for gens. So it might be slower for killers to move around but it's slower for survivors to do gens. On Lerys and every other indoor map. As far as gameplay, it seems to be the same to me. I am having fun hunting down new totem spawns though.

No one terrifies me, but I'd have to say Miguel and the Pig are the two that still manage to startle me every now and then. That Pig roar when you're caught unawares is still fun and can make me jump, and Miguel is just such a creeper. I think my hatred for Ghostface makes me appreciate those two even more. He's truly the most boring (and most common) killer in the entire game and I play less because of him, so I'm always excited to get Miguel or Ms. Piggy.

I hate to make this post because I know most people dislike “goodbye” posts. But I love DBD. It’s hard to admit I’m no longer having fun. Besides, the CoD series and RS, this is the only other game I’ve invested 1500 hours into.
The thing is, I’m tired of feeling limited with only a select few killers against good survivors. Sick of playing nurse. Sick of the balance issues and the devs taking forever to fix simple issues. I do feel like I got my $ worth of course though.
Good luck and enjoy playing if you still do. Once you reach red ranks as killer, the game can be frustrating. I don’t enjoy survivor because it’s basically nascar, gen simulator. Boring. But if people enjoy it that’s good.
Okay, bye!

The challenges bring out the worst in the playerbase. People throw games just to do their mission or DC/Sandbag to deny other players their own challenges. The least they could do is remove "single trail" missions.
And this system is here to stay! No changes were made from all the feedback given on Tome 1. So this is DBD now. Buncha people sweating for ridiculous challenges and ruining the experience for each other.
You can avoid all of this by playing 4-man SWF. But for us solo players, it's just not fun.
All my friends that I've tried to introduce to this game have quit, sadly. It's just not fun for rank 15-17 players to go against red and purple rank killers all the time. And yeah I had people throw pallets to block me while I was being chased so they could try to get flashlight saves, so I know it brings out the worst. It's just sad. The challenges really are having a major effect on the game and not a good one.

Killers dodge because they don't like your cosmetics. It really doesn't matter. I don't sneak them myself but that's why people are doing it. Blame the devs for the challenge.

You know that you won't be able to completely prevent being dodged, right? Killers can just close out the game during the five second countdown.
I am aware, yes. I don't sneak the toolboxes myself. I almost never bring them in, actually, unless we have this lovely sabo challenge, for example. But that's why people do it - to try to avoid the dodge.

The idea of hex totems burning brightly, out in the open zaps any power or use they have since they get broken in first 4 minutes. What if the totems were locked in cages and survivors needed to locate keys hidden to open said cage to destroy the totem? It would be a new objective vs the same old gen rush and healing. What other ideas do you have to make game more interesting?
Or they could make it so killer always gets notification if a totem is being cleansed as just Basekit.
No. Totem perks are high risk, high reward. I hate getting my totem cleansed instantly, which is why I rarely use them. They are what they are.
-
I think Wraith is one of the weakest, if not the weakest, in the game. I'd say Plague is the better killer. Probably a lot depends on rank though. I remember when I was a new survivor, I had such a hard time with Wraith. Now? Not at all. And I've never been particularly scared of Plague myself, but a lot of people are unwilling to play injured so that causes a lot of cleansing and she gets stronger. Plus, she can slow things down because some people will not touch whatever she's puked on, so the gen will keep regressing.

So, before you read, here’s a heads up: This is not complaining.
Played a game as Killer and I’m Bubba (as per usual). Anyways, people say this game is not survivor-sided. 90% of my games are on the big ass maps.
Game starts:
4 Survivors; All Toolboxes.
I spot a lonesome Claudy, down her. Hook. She gets unhooked immediately. Breakdown.
Down her again because her teammate runs and I couldn’t catch in time. Go to hook. Can’t. Hook broke. Nearest hook, her teammates are sabotaging. She pops off.
Summarizing this game because I don’t have time to write out like I usually do:
3 teammates chased me, sabotaged each hook, had toolboxes with max sabotaging.
Perks: BT, Breakdown, Flip Flop, DS.
I won, because the final teammate that was knocking out gens finally came to help a teammate and I downed her.
This game is heavily Survivor Sided. I hooked ONE survivor TWICE the entire match before I managed to slug all of them. Had the 4th teammate not messed up and pushed, I would’ve lost tremendously.
Post-game message:
“Why’d you camp?”
cool story, bro
-
I don't think on either side I ever go against opponents of equal skill level. As a survivor, I've actually been bored with how easy it is. As killer, the survivors I go against are almost always more experienced, with higher level perks, lower ranks, and some are definitely SWF.

Yeah I set the challenge and forgot about it. I always go for hook saves so I was like, I'll just play normally and get it done. Two hours later, I was like, "Oh crap, have I been playing without any challenge selected?" No. Everyone is just only working on hook saves so I haven't had the chance. In my last game, I watched one teammate make two unsafe saves in a row, probably trying to get the challenge done. Can't wait for the 'repair 9 gens in one game' challenge where everyone will die on their first hook while the Blendette doesn't move an inch off the gen.

Take it easy, you have 70 days for the Rift and two weeks before Level 2 comes out (and even then you can still do the Challenges for Level 1).
If you play Killer, do those Challenges so that you can get from there to the Survivor Track, meaning that you have other Challenges than the other Survivors in your Lobby.
At this rate, it will take me more than 50 hours to finish this first level. That's totally feasible for people with jobs and lives and maybe another game or two they'd like to play.
