Yeah it's painful. I'm not kidding, since rank reset I've died on my first hook in almost every game. I can't understand it. I have games where there are people who not only haven't been hooked, but they haven't been touched the entire game and they won't even try to save me. I forgot how selfish and stupid people are in this game. I just switched to Claudette and I'm not helping a single person anymore. I've had it. But it's only been 10 our of my last 13 games that I've died on my first hook.
I usually run deliverance, because I hate dying on my first hook. I run DS + BT + Deliverance + Unbreakable if I want to help my team. I run Iron will + Calm Spirit + Fixated + Sprint burst or Spine chill and a key if I feel like playing entirely for myself.

It has nothing to do with being a "random" and everything to do with skill and experience in the game.
I can't run bond anymore. It pains me to see people urban evading around when the obsession is clearly being chased, indicated by the shaking brackets around their name.

If your team is that potato, leave them to die. That's a benefit of always running keys.

Whatever works for you man, too much of a gamble using 2 perks for early game and then being left with 2 effectively until whispers becomes useful again in endgame.
Killer is all about the early game. That is when you are the weakest, when potentially 4 people are working on gens and you have no pressure to stop it. Corrupt makes them at least go find a gen to work on, while cutting the map in half. If you are very familiar with the map layouts, and have used whispers for hundreds of hours to know about what 32m is, you can get a really, really good idea of where survivors are early game.

corrupt intervention can be waited out and sometimes blocks gens on opposite sides of the map cause where killer can spawn
It can't be waited out if you have whispers as well. Good whispers useage lets you almost pinpoint the exact location of survivors.

None of the "best killers" call it the best killer perk.
You are basing too much opinion on watching videos instead of having the experience in it yourself.
You can't argue with statistics. A 98% win rate is higher than anyone I have seen, because none of the other red rank killers record their stats. You have people like truetalent getting a 2k and declaring victory because he pipped. Lol.

I play at red ranks both sides, and I know how useful it is. It was always better than ruin. Ruin didn't stop people from spawning in and immediately starting to work on your gens. Corrupt does.

Many are ignoring it because it isn't as good as you think it is.
Corrupt Intervention can screw you depending on the map and your spawn where there are still open gens on opposite sides of the map. You also get good survivors who just ignore the gens for its timer and now you wasted a perk slot for nothing.
So tell me why the best killer I have ever seen, with a 98% win ratio at red ranks ranks, swears by it and calls it the best killer perk in the game?
Welcome to Mixer, the next generation in live streaming.Throw on whispers if you have a hard time finding survivors.

It’s called “why do I need this DLC perk unlocked, then accessed through hundreds of killer bloodwebs just to have a CHANCE at an even playing field?”
Because that is what it is going to take if you want to climb the ranks, the meta perks. And honestly, you probably don't even need it until purple / red ranks anyways. That's like complaining you had to level hag to unlock the old ruin.
-
@pemberley said:
Especially as a “baby” killer (who ends up facing survivors well above my level)?
I don’t feel encouraged to play killer tbh. Every game feels like the survivors know they have it in the bag, proceed to play sweaty, and ends with teabagging to the last second of egc.
It is ridiculous how chill and relax it is to play survivor, the prey, and killer feels demoralizing and stressful. I should not feel RELIEVED when a killer match is over, I SHOULD feel excited and devious to play another round of killer - but I don’t.
Seriously, it’s hard out there for a killer.
It's called corrupt intervention.
-
If you plan on playing killer alot, better get used to it. You are going to be insulted regularly, no matter how nice you play, or what perks you run.

Wow,so aggressive. I don't lie to myself it's an awesome combo. It's unlimited discordance. Since they don't look at ruin most of the times, ruin lasts, at least till midgame.
If your totem was going to last till midgame anyways, you were better off with devour hope. Devour ends the game if it lasts long, ruin is an inconvenience.

Nah. Corrupt + pop is way better on everyone except maybe freddy / billy. Guaranteed 2 minutes of corrupt as well, instead of RNG results with ruin.

I dont think that blinding at Pallets and Vaults is that useful. At least many people do that without Iron Will or are making footsteps, which results in the Killer finding them. Because, ears are a thing. And the time staying at the Pallet/Vault to blind the Killer can also be spend to run away and gain some distance.
So I would not call them strong, the use at Vaults and Pallets is limited vs good Killers and flashlight Saves can be avoided by looking at the wall.
There is usually chase music going on, so with iron will it is pretty hard to hear footsteps. I would never use one without iron will. It is super strong with quick and quiet / head on / inner strength as well, since you can blind at a pallet and then jump into a locker silently. If they figure out what happened, you hit them with the head on. If they don't figure it out fast enough, you heal.
-
@Aven_Fallen said:
Whatever SWF does have to do with Flashlights. Flashlights are fine, they are weak, but can be used in some circumstances. And if you get blinded as Killer more than 1 time and the Survivor gets a Flashlight Safe, you are doing something wrong.
The idea you have is basically what Maps are for. There are two Add Ons which allow the Map Objects to be seen by other Survivors - the purple one who shows the Aura to every Survivor and the yellow one which puts a Marker. That should be enough.
(also, where do you find Darkness in DBD?)
Flashlights are very strong if used correctly. You can use them not only to save, but also to blind at pallets and vaults. Most people don't know how to blind at vaults, and combined with iron will it is the only item that will let you extra distance between yourself and the killer during a chase (barring instant medkits).

there are many situations where you cant just "walk around them" example would be in a basement situation. Guess ill start bringing green moris with me for this case.
If you need mori's to go along with your basement camping, just lol.
-
I never openly carry my keys.
A professional key user will swap to it at 6-7 seconds, denying the ability to counter it with a mori. Unless the killer is paying very close attention, you can sneak into most games with it.
You can also just play Steve, who hides the key in his model during the lobby, but I don't wanna play Steve.
They are overpowered but, there are sooooo many overpowered killer items and builds I don't feel bad at all about using them. Especially with the BS matchmaking which puts you into borderline unwinnable games.

If freddy is camping he can hit before you unhook.
I mean that's like saying BT doesn't work against bubba because he is facecamping and can just sit there with his saw. Facecamping is only really punished by gen pressure.
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
BT would need a major change so that it actually works against campers. Right now all it does is punish TR killers.
I always go and wake up before I save against a camping freddy. If you don't eat a hit right before the save it will still get your BT off.

I feel as though you're looking for reasons to be mad without actually refuting what I'm saying, but surely if you're having issues grabbing them, this would be even less of an issue for you. You don't get DS'd if you down them and slug them.
Many, many red rank survivors also run unbreakable and/or adrenaline as well, specifically for that situation. In the scenario I talked about earlier, he got DS'd into me having adrenaline as well.
If he slugged me, the other survivor finished the gen and I adrenalined off. But what happened was he got DS'd, and then I got adrenaline right after, pretty much sealing his fate because he didn't have NOED.
-
@Peanits said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1028490#Comment_1028490
Sounds like he should have lunged at you instead of grabbing you.
Although I'd also point to this: https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1028432/#Comment_1028432
That would solve a situation like that.
I would agree, but 50 seconds later, he probably would not have expected a DS by then. Unless you are running something like make your choice, it is incredibly hard to track the DS timer down to the seconds like that.
-
@Peanits said:
I've got nothing against NOED, personally. I view it a lot like DS. It takes a bad game and makes it better, and if you're already having a good game, you don't need it.
NOED takes a game where people don't bother with totems and only focus on generators and punishes them for it. If they do the totems, that's extra time for you and you probably won't need it anyway.
DS takes a game where the killer tunnels you and makes it better (gives you another shot). If they don't tunnel you, you don't really have anything to worry about.
In both cases, you can work around it and never see it.
Before anyone says it, no, I'm not saying 'these perks are equal', I'm just saying that they both have the same effect of making a bad match better while not getting used in a good match.
And what about how DS practically makes you invincible late-game? I had one game where I got unhooked, went and worked on the last generator with another survivor. 50 seconds later, the killer came back, the gen was at 95%, i'm just working on it in his face. He grabs me off it, and gets DS'd while the other survivor finishes it, and we both got out scott-free.

As survivor a good game and a survival usually nets 25k+ bp if you go for them.
You are assuming the killer is getting hooks, and isn't defending them so you can save for free. Alot of the times when I play survivor the killer barely gets any hooks. Being in chase all game gets you very little bloodpoints, as does doing gens solo (which is optimal).
A single silent stab with ghostface gets you almost as much points as doing an entire generator.
-
@Waffleyumboy said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1028394#Comment_1028394
I think playing killer without bbq is a waste of time. I could hop on survivor and get the same amount of bp for half the effort.
I don't get that logic. You get significantly more points for winning as a killer than as a survivor. If you are stomping on the survivors as the killer, you will get like 28,000+ per game. If you are stomping on the killer as survivor, you will get like 10,000, because nobody is getting hooked and you only get 1250 points for doing a gen by yourself.
-
I would probably run the meta perks of corrupt + pop goes. I never play M1 killers without bamboozle, in case I load into a map with abusable windows. Fourth slot would probably be whispers. No room for BBQ unless I am specifically farming BP.

That is a good point, I wonder what perk they’ll lock behind DLC to fix the gen rush and far off gens? Corrupt is too inconsistent.
Corrupt has gotta be the best killer perk in the game right now, if you know how to use it. It already bought you more time than ruin in most cases. It stops people from spawning in on top of your generators and immediately starting to work on them.

I feel like every killer should have an addon that gives either undetectable or oblivious
Removing it completly seems a bit too strong, but removing it for a time can make the game more excitting for survivors i think
Things like getting caught in a beartrap gives you oblivious for 2 minutes
Things the killer has to work for
You can use monitor and abuse, dark devotion, tinkerer, nemesis, insidious, etc etc to manipulate it.
There are killers who can just remove it at will, like ghostface, pig, and wraith.
I don't understand the point of this thread.
-
I do a fair amount of trapper at red ranks, and I use corrupt intervention + brutal + bamboozle + random 4th perk, usually monitor and abuse / whispers / pop.
I swear by the corrupt intervention. It gives you some breathing room at the start of the game, similar to old ruin. I don't really chase anyone, maybe give them a smack to get them off gens while I set up shop at a 3 gen somewhere. But I have brutal + bamboozle for some really nasty chase potential if I need it.
No reason to go on some super long chase when you can end chases in 5 seconds with the traps, or not even have to chase at all, just going to a trap to collect your hook. Once you find a good 3 gen to defend, you just trap literally every pallet or chokepoint in the area, and the whole place is a death zone.
Someone like ghostface, I always do corrupt + whispers + bamboozle + random 4th perk, usually pop goes. Whispers, with a few hundred hours of use, lets you pinpoint survivors at the start of the game instantly and check generators at lighting speed. You know if you should be sneaking up to a gen or not for a stalk, or just moving off without even going into that area.
Bamboozle is just god-tier on M1 killers, and shut's down so many loops once you have some practice with it. Pop goes to help control a 3 gen if it comes down to it, and for some early/mid game slowdown as well.

so.... rancor, nemesis, noed, remember me?
still want the nemesis for the obsession reset. blood warden would be nasty, but like i said its to try to rancor kill everyone. hrm.
Yeah, dump the remember me for bloodwarden. So NOED, Rancor, Nemesis, and bloodwarden.
NOED will usually scare them into opening the gates early. Or if they 99% it you can open them yourself. You can also slug with NOED to try and bait out the 59 second bloodwarden hook to kill anyone who hasn't left yet, assuming you can't get the nemesis rancors off. You can tell when the bar is about 1/4 left and you will hear a bell ring to let you know you can hook to seal everyone in.
-
@toxic_clown said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1027341#Comment_1027341
i know you wont. you kill the obsession, hook the non obsession unless you can get ds'd blinded, or stunned, then keep killing like that... idk maybe noed would be good for that, but im hoping since it will let the gens finish super fast that there will still be plenty of pallets around.
like i said. it probs sucks. just seems like a fun, left field build.
So how is the furtive chase helping you then? NOED is just the best lategame perk hands down. Bloodwarden is an extra 60 seconds of lategame, remember me is 16, assuming you find and kill the obsession before they can 99% the gates.
-
@toxic_clown said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1027323#Comment_1027323
thats why nemesis and furitive chase are there. dont need stuns all the time, an unhook will work too.
besides, noed defeats the purpose kinda. the idea revolves heavily around rancor. youll already be able to 1 shot the obsession. why use noed? i mean i guessssss it could work. but i worry noed will prevent altruism. which is what you may need to reset the obsession.
You won't be hooking the obsession in the lategame though, because you will be killing them.
You don't need anything except to chase them into a pallet and eat it. NOED is there to force them to open the gates early, letting you get bloodwarden off, to extend the lategame much longer than remember me ever would.
-
It's better with noed and bloodwarden instead of furtive chase and remember me. I have played it quite a bit today, and the problem is it's kinda hard to get people to pallet stun you in the endgame because by then most of the pallets are gone. Max I have gotten is 2 mori's out of it so far.

None of them can snowball like Billy. None of them.
How often does Myers get a grab? Very very rarely. Once he tiers up though that stealth is gone. He can snowball but like oni, after a while he reverts back to tier 2 and the instadowns stop. Hillbilly has those instadowns all game 24/7 and then he can cross the map and back again in seconds. Myers cant.
This is the difference between all those killers and Billy. Billy has the instadowns permanently and on demand. The rest only have them for a limited time and have to do something to earn it.
Leatherface doesnt compare because his chainsaw is harder to hit since it slows him down and he suffers a far bigger penalty if he hits a wall.
Ghostface is BS but thats another story for another time.
None of them compare to Billy. Billy has his snowball potential from the start of the game until the very end. One mistake and its curtains for the survivors. Myers and Oni only have their chance at certain intervals, Trapper is more of a late game snowball.....again Hillbilly is an overwhelming threat right from the start of the trial.
Billy is really loopable, and you can dodge any mid-range saws pretty easily. It takes alot of practice with billy to be curving around tight corners for chainsaw hits. Most billy's are just M1 killers who chainsaw around the map. You don't see nearly as many curve billies.
I find him very fun to play, and very fun to play against. Probably the most fun to play against strong killer out there, unlike nurse / freddy / spirit / hag where there isn't too too much input on your side. Maybe huntress would be more fun to play against if I wasn't getting nailed by hatchets when i'm completely behind walls because of the hitboxes.

Can’t say I disagree. Here is the way I see it...
Killers powers are weak. You need add ons to make them good. Grey for slight increase, yellow for decent, green for good, leading into Strong or OP or purple/red.
Going with that design on survivors...
Healing feels a little slow in my opinion. Especially if the killer is running sloppy. A med kit is a nice luxury to have. Just like Killer powers, you’ll want something to speed them up a little bit otherwise base power (or in this case base healing) feels a little weak.
However at no point has gen speed ever felt too slow. Toolboxes aren’t really needed, especially not the stronger ones.
Considering with BBQ you can usually get like 40-50k a game, and a brown is 3k, I think they should be balanced around killers using them at all times. I don't think I have ever been unable to afford at least yellows if I want.

The game is balanced for survivors like myself. Low ranks.
And it's easy.
It should be though. The game should be balanced around solo Q survivors.
Deathgarden was balanced around a 5 man on comms, and the killer was so overpowered they completely stomped the solo Q's and the game died off before it really had a chance to improve.

People don't believe me when I say trapper is unaffected by map size lol
I still use corrupt on him, just in case the 3 gen I want is across the map or something. But once you get all your traps laid in one area, it is very brutal. It doesn't matter if you have lost 2-3 gens up to that point when every pallet is unusable and trapped.
-
@Spooky13 said:
Don't forget Crotus Prenn and Shelter Woods for survivors and killers respectively. But I am right there with you, maps are the problem, not gen times. Only 3 killers, or about 16% of the cast are able to effectively pressure survivors and traverse the map.
Some killers don't need to traverse the map. Trapper and hag, for example, should just set up shop at a 3 gen and stay put for the most part.
-
NOED is the real late game hex.
This is probably my favorite late game build at the moment. You don't care so much about the gen rush when you go full beast mode endgame and start mori'ing everyone who drops a pallet on you.

This post just blows my mind. At what point does a low level/new killer get the chance to even learn against a team who can loop them into oblivion, or repeatedly tap gens and the newbie doesn't realise they did it. More to the point, a killer being placed against that kind of skill level would only lead to them quitting the game. Nobody likes coming to a game feeling like thats the only thing that awaits them.
To be fair, most of my early games as a killer were me getting stomped over and over, even years ago when I first started playing. You only really learn what windows are god windows by getting looped at them.
But I can see how it would be especially bad for new killers right now.

If you want to pip as a killer, you just play legion. You can probably get 4 man outed and still pip just by running around stabbing everyone.
I've been having tons of 3k depips or 4k safeties as trapper because I place good traps and get 0 chaser emblem.

If that's the case, then OP's post is pointless, because they're just getting unlucky. It's not the game at that point, it's their luck.
Probably because you don't actually have to have multiple gods in your game to get wrecked by one. Just finding them first, early, and not knowing when to drop a chase, can be enough to ruin your game. Even the most potato of red ranks knows to rush the gens. So while you are getting 1v1'd by a god, the potato's can crank out the gens.
It is your fault for chasing them, sure.

I get the feeling you got killed by a Huntress with Iridescent Head recently.
Huntress has the perfect amount of counterplay at most low wall loops; she has just as much of a chance at hitting a Survivor as they have at avoiding her Hatchets assuming both sides are paying attention to the other.
As far as the original post goes, I only have issues with Sanctum of Wrath and Temple of Purgation. They're just too big to reasonably patrol the gens, even as a 115% Killer, and they have a ton of annoying obstructions.
Oh and Haddonfield sucks too, but it sucks for every Killer, not just Huntress.
No, it's just 1/3 of my matches are against huntress I would guess. And there is a reason for it. You just aim in the general direction of the survivor and get a hit because the hitboxes are 2x the size of the hatchets. Anyone complaining she needs a buff needs a smack on the head.
