The thing with Myers is he has so many various build styles depending on the perks and add ons you use. You can go with jump scare Micheal or a build that helps you get to Tier 3 faster and help you end chases quicker. Of all the killers, Michael has a lot of variety in game play.
Personally, I love jump scare Michael.

I havent seen this epidemic. Maybe once or twice every ten games do I see people saboing. Usually its for the achievement or a daily rit. That said, I do on occasion when I play survivor run a sabo Jake build. Like camping or tunneling, saboing is a legit strategy.

Nah, this is the most toxic community I've been apart of, and I've been gaming online for years.
This is not even the most toxic community out there right now, let alone ever. The DBD community is tame compared to the ones in Shadowbane, Darkfall or Diablo 2. Hell, even UO was more toxic than DBD is.
I am honestly tired of people shitting on this community. Yeah, we got our issues, and we can get very pissy at each other, killer vs survivor. Do not get me wrong, there are some major asses out there, but there are in any game. We are not perfect, but damn we are not even close to being the most toxic or even in the top 10.
Since you wanted to let me know you been gaming online for years, so have I. I been gaming online over 20 years, starting back in the days of MUDs.
Now I am getting off my soap box.

@Detective_Jonathan So people who do not like forums or Reddit should come here because they play the game? That is very elitist. A casual gamer may not even know there is a forum for the game. If they do not put an in game notice about the bans and start banning people, it will look very bad for the company. Simple as that.

Which oldschool MMOs are as toxic as DBD? I've played quite some but have never seen so much hateful people on daily base in any game than DBD
WoW comes to mind. Shadowbane was horrid. Diablo 2 was beyond toxic. That's just 3 off the top of my head
-
Wow, never knew we were toxic. I guess I ignored the 5,000 posts in the past about how evil we are to each other.
If you think this community is toxic, I guess you never played any old school PVP MMOs before. This is like tea time at Buckingham compared to how bad things were in the past.
Lastly, things are only toxic if you let them be toxic. Nothing people say or do in chat means anything. Its just words. Whatever they do in game, its just a game. Relax, breath, go outside and get some fresh air.
-
I am more curious why you think it is the most OP offering in the game?
-
My wife and I both changed our PSN names. No issues on either account.
-
It can be countered by a little extra effort. Take the time, if you see a totem, cleanse it. No NOED at the end and the killer wasted a perk slot. Last 4 survivor games, I cleansed all 5 totems, while still getting at least 2 gens done myself. All 4 games, the killer ran NOED.
Also, if you see it has been powered, just leave. Again, it turns it into a wasted perk. Running head long into the fire is what makes killers run the perk. It is like camping, survivors feed a killer's desire by doing the exact thing the strategy hopes you do.
As a killer, I do not run NOED but I love the perk's side effect. Survivors take the time to cleanse totems thinking I am running NOED. This is great when I am running jump scare Michael.
-
Honestly, I have no complaints about any of the DLCs, even Leatherface.

The needle completely jumps when press it. Bugs can be intimitant you know, cool story that it works for you now be quiet
Or it could be that you just are missing your skill check and you are blaming it on a bug. Oh yeah, this change has been out there for a bit now. Congrats on being late.

Also to add on to this.
decisive strike has major bug, I’ve played 10 games deliberately getting hooked and unhooked, running to killer, I get the skill check, but when press the button to activate, the bar instantly skips the area and jumps to after the activation area and it fails to work.
i hit perfect most time on skill check and can do gens with hex ruin without issue.
but the skill check on decisive strike on PS4 has a bug
The DS skill check on PS4 does not have a bug. I hit it every time. You just missed the skill check.

@MrsMaliciousX I completely agree there is an issue with hitboxes, and the issue is worse on certain platforms. It is a matter I hope the resolve soon.
The new matchmaking is making it harder in terms of attempting to learn or try new builds or strategies on both sides. I hope this situation is also resolved as it is certainly not fair for all parties.
As for "telling others how to play", my comments in that regard were more general and not truly directed at you. Though your OP did come across somewhat as "campers and tunnelers are the reason for DCs, stop it." While I agree there are many other ways to play and I personally love my Peek a boo Michael build, some honestly enjoy the seek and destroy concept. Who am I to say they are wrong.
I appreciate your respectful response back to my comment.
-
@Coriander I completely agree. Could not have said it better myself.
-
Well there are several viewpoints on what camping and tunneling is, so I wanted to see what yours were before I responded.
I will start with camping. The example you described I agree sucks. Problem with it though is survivors feed into the killer's desire to use that strategy because it works. Honestly, when I play survivor and I see someone who just got hooked in the basement, you are on your own. It is a risky rescue to begin with and more often then not, you got a basement camper. If the killer is Leatherface, I am not even going to that side of the map. Too many survivors go running head first into these traps, and that is why killers use them.
As for tunneling, honestly, I see no issue. The killer is trying to hook. That is their sole objective. Going after the weakest link is a smart play. Yes it sucks for the survivor, but this is a 4v1 PVP horror survival game. If I think tunneling the recently unhooked survivor will benefit me in that particular match, I will. If I am a survivor being tunneled, I have tools to end the chase, just have to be smart in how I use them.
The issue I have with the anti - camping/tunneling posts is others trying to dictate how people should play. As long as the killer or survivor is playing within the rules of the game, not using exploits or not cheating, I see no issue if the killer wants to camp or tunnel or if the survivor wants to loop to death or flashlight click all match. The only way any of these behaviors are toxic is if you let them be.
In the end, nothing I say will change your views, I know this. There is also nothing wrong with your views, they are yours. I do ask keep in mind, not all people who play this game read the forums, steam groups, reddit or any other place this game is discussed. I would say a good portion of this game's community has no idea about the unwritten laws of this game. Hell, I didnt until I joined this forum. Granted I still ignore them, but hey, at least I know about them.
-
As there are so many different definitions of tunneling and camping, could you please explain what you mean by tunneling and camping so we have a point of reference?

Why do you think they're incorrect? I'm still figuring stuff out so I'd love to hear reasoning. Thanks :)
NOED has a counter. Pre nerf DS did not. They are not equivalent. Also NOED really does not need a nerf as the perk has a counter to it before it can even come into the game. It is high risk/high reward.
-
Are there people who think that? Of course there is. Are they correct? Nope.
-
I have no issue with NOED as a survivor. I also assume everyone is running NOED so I bring in Small Game to counter it. I typically cleanse all totems and bam, no NOED. Its not that hard.
-
Please correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't a survivor need to be hooked after the gates are opened for Blood Warden to work? So exactly how did this nurse hook all three of them? Two should have been able to escape when the first one went down. I am confused.
-
I would have to say the Wraith is the one I hate the most. I have no clue why, I know all the counters for the Wraith, but I always seem to have horrible games against him.
-
I wiggle every time unless right next to a hook. I am too stubborn for my own good.

Some killers use it as a tactic. I faced a Leatherface once that entered the match just swinging repeatedly, standing still. My friends and I thought " cool ... farming. okay." so we gen rushed, searched the chests and opened up the doors to leave. However, one friend was brave enough to want to get extra points by getting hit and running around the killer. They approached. He had NOED. He downed my friend and the friend that came to help and we fell like dominoes.
Surprising tactic. Efficient in that case.
I have this tactic a few times on PS4. It is very surprising how well it works the first time it is seen. I havent fallen for it since
-
I do not see in game taunting as toxic. They are trying to distract or annoy. which neither effect me. The only way these actions are toxic is if you find them toxic.
-
If it was a good match throughout, I will watch it.
-
Since the release of the cosmetic store, I now only prestige license killers or survivors. The original survivors and killers I do not bother to prestige as I just get stuff from the store.
-
If you are on PC, turn off end of game chat. If you are on console, make your DMs private to anyone that is not on your friend list. There ends the toxicity. Anything done in game that is within the rules is not toxic. If they are griefing, report them and move on. Removes so much of the stress of the game.
-
I have ran and played against the Doctor since PS4 release and never seen a fps drop with him. I run him because he is a great np farmer, his laugh is great and he annoys the piss out of survivors.
-
None of the perks are required for a good build. Honestly, I rarely use most of the licensed killer perks anyways. It is not a P2W situation in the least bit. You can win a match just as easily with the non licensed killer perks as you could. Also, though rarely, they do come up in the shrine.
This is nothing like Battlefront. Not even remotely close.

This won't stop a killer who wants to tunnel anyway, but this will help killers who don't want to tunnel but are kinda forced to because they don't see someone else but the recently unhooked guy.
You are never forced to tunnel. It is a choice. Simple as that. Also, no sympathy for the recently unhooked survivor. You are easy prey now. Figure out where to go to hide and heal. Tunneling is not an issue and there is nothing to fix about it.
Yeah, you are never forced to tunnel if you don't care to win or lose. But if you want to win and you only see the unhooked guy you are forced to go for him instead of ignoring him and searching for someone who could be stealthy af.
That is not truly tunneling though. That is just bad luck for that survivor.

It is certainly a choice. You do not have to go after that injured recently unhooked survivor. It is the smart choice, but still a choice. You do not have to tunnel. You can still pip easily not tunneling. But tunneling makes removing survivors quicker from the game.

The answer is yes and no.
Your ultra competitive do everything to win SWF, yes is OP. They are tactical in everything they do.
Now for the vast majority of SWF, no, not OP. There is nothing OP about a bunch of people laughing at each other as they scream about a killer chasing them
-
There is no one reason. It could be a wide range of issues, from lag to not wanting to play against Legion.
-
Cant remember the thread, but I made a snarky joke that was very off topic to the discussion. I was called out for it by another poster, realized what I did and apologized. I try to joke a bit, but I try my best not to be rude. We have enough of that in here.
-
I only disconnect if a personal real life issue occurs. Beyond that, no. I do though want to offer my opinions on each scenario.
- Getting Lery's as Billy
Survivors get cocky and reckless when playing against Billy in Lery's. A bit of modification in Billy playstyle and you can have a fun match
- Getting Rottenfields as Huntress
This is more about controlling the survivors and keeping them in paths of good line of sight. Challenging but not too bad
- Getting Rottenfields as Nurse
I do not play Nurse so no words of wisdom here
- Getting haddonfield as Billy
Not really sure the issue with Billy in Haddonfield. I love Haddonfield as Billy.
- Getting Thompson's as Huntress
Not sure the problem with Huntress in Thompson's. Again, force the survivor in areas that keep good line of sight
- Getting The Game as Trapper
Oh, I love getting the game as the Trapper. There are so many evil places to put traps in the Game. Oh it is a delight.
- A Doctor who used the game offering
Usually those running the Game offering as the Doctor get a bit cocky and think they will have an easy game. Play off their mistakes
- A legion with Frank's
Not much to say on this that has not been said a hundred times. It sucks. Play the hand and carry on to the next match.
-
The lack of end game chat is one of the blessings of console honestly. Rather not have it at all.
-
You do realize it takes forever to get to EW III when running Judith's Tombstone right? If you have not done all the gens by that point, that is on you. I am taking it you have not ran into a mori yet.

The bit in italics is my idea but if you want to criticise please read some of the other stuff first as it explains my reasoning.I've suggested something similar in the past and got hate for it but recently i made a thread asking why hard camping (would call it face camping but i know people don't refer to it as that anymore since the change to hooks) is a thing, and many people agreed that there is something wrong with it, but straight up nerfing it is the wrong idea, so i thought i'd try again.
I fully understand camping as i play more killer than survivor and i agree it is sometimes necessary (for example there are scratch marks in the area, or a gen is on 90% nearby, or the gens are finished). However, more and more, as survivors get better at the game in the purple and red ranks, more and more killers are camping without a reason, other than it's easy, and guarantees at least one kill.
However, quite often it gets more kills, as survivors will go for the save and get downed and there's the killers second victim. Killers always say "survivors feed face campers by going to the hooks" but that's just plain stupid. If they didn't go to the hooks, 3 survivors would spend all game holding mouse one doing gens, 1 survivor would be stuck doing nothing on a hook, and the killer would be afk. It's boring for everyone, you wouldn't pip, and you wouldn't get and blood points.
The reason i believe unjustified camping to be so scummy is it is a win win for the killer as they either guarantee one kill, or more kills from boring survivors into being stupid. Constantly people say "the devs say it's intended". The reason that's stupid is the devs didn't intend the boring game i described earlier, but at the same time, it IS technically the survivors fault for camping being strong as they go to the hook, so you're stuck in a loop of it always being justified.
I understand many killers at higher ranks feel they need to use such strategies to secure a kill, but often it can be out of salt and they just wish to ruin that particular survivors game. I strongly believe that some change should be made that rewards killers for leaving the hook, and punishing them for specifically for camping doing NONE of the objectives. By this i mean, if a killer is standing by a hook, and the gens aren't finished, there should be some penalty (for example he has a gradual decrease in movement speed or the hooked person dies slower). However if some cocky survivor is running round the hook, as long as you're in a chase with them, the negative affects would not happen. Meanwhile if they leave said hook, they gain a slight buff (for example slight speed increase or faster death of person on hook).
My ideas are just suggestions, but my main argument is that there is something wrong with how camping works, and a change (NOT A NERF) must be made. Also yes i know it's been done before but that was a straight up nerf, and was so unthought through, that it was abused, and since then everyone's been scared of change, including the devs.
If u get less than 10% Hook Proximity on your Chaser emblem after the match has ended, u didnt camp at all!
Camping is something related to survivors who very often camp hooks, hatches, gens and pallets. But they dont lose their emblems because of that!
Thats why i always say that this is an extremely survivors sided game!
Again i'll say, that's not the type of camping i'm talking about. I play killer and of course i'm going to stay round the hook if there's a bunch of survivors sitting in the area, but when they just stand in your face to ensure your death, which happens very often if you know how to pallet loop well, it's boring for everyone, and despite what people say, i don't think the devs intended people to play like that
The camping you want to punish is honestly unpunishable without punishing the innocent. You have great intentions. I applaud you for that. The issue is, some people do not care about the pips or bp. They play the game simply to kill other players. If hard/face/way too intimate for comfort camping is how they decide to ensure their kill, no matter the number of punishes you give them will stop it. All you end up doing is giving all other killers a penalty that will honestly be exploited to death.
Also, as I play both sides and have played up and down the rank ladder, hard camping happens but it is not this wide spread epidemic you are painting it to be.
Yeh i play both sides too, and i don't know if it's my play style, or my luck, but i get hard camped often enough for it to ruin my day. Some days it won't happen at all, whilst others it will happen once every 3 games or so and sometimes even more. i don't tbag and stuff, i'm just decent at pallet looping and can last a while. I do understand though that some players go purely for the satisfaction of killing, which is understandable. I appreciate your understanding and i advice you look at @Weederick 's suggestion further up in the chat as his idea is far better than mine
I read the suggestion, and while it is not a bad one and would add an interesting change to gameplay, it still would not change the core issue you want addressed, hard camping. The killer will still sit there and wait no matter how long, while still punishing those who play correctly. So a helpful totem gets cleansed, giving the sacrifice timer more time and even though I am not even camping, it punishes me by giving survivors more time to complete gens and then make the save.

This is my issue with camping nerfs, penalities, whatever. It punishes the wrong person. Killers who do proximity camping or are camping because the swarm of Dwights are just behind that tree will get punished because the survivors rush the hook before he can even get away (happens all the time). It does nothing to punish a hard camper because guess what, he was planning to sit there all day anyways. In the end, you want to punish the majority of people who use camping as a legit (though most of the time, stupid) strategy for the ignorant actions of a handful.
I appreciate the attempt to fix the issue. I honestly do. I just do not think you can fix it by punishing those who do not commit the crime you want punished.
