  • Freddy is a mixed bag. He is an excellent slugger but horrible at finishing off survivors. He is one of the best trackers but bad in chases. He has one of the best end game perks, but one of the worst end game play styles. I enjoy playing Freddy and run him often but I know and understand his limits. He is not viable against skilled survivors. He is great though if you want to annoy the hell out of a SWF team.

  • I find it enjoyable. I enjoy trying different strategies. Some work, some don't. Also I guess I may be odd but I don't find playing killer stressful. I realize I win some and lose some.

  • Legion needs balance. Use gen pressure, avoid being sucked into death loops, and know when to quit a chase.

Other option is to run a 3 gen game. Gives you map control and forces all survivors into a smaller area.
  • Very smart play honestly. Congrats

Optimization patch is not gonna come console you will see it.I am sure dedicated servers only comes to PC.

Why should they do that discrimination?

We waiting fix disconnect issue on console for 2.5 years. If killer disconnects during anytime in game, all survivors lose their item, gain 0 BP and just safety pip (even if you did more than 25K BP in game)

The game has only been on console for a year and half. The disconnect issue started popping up around this time last year. While yes, we have been waiting for the fix for longer than we should, lets not make up facts.

  • Good lord, whats next, nerf Freddy to the point he is useless.......wait, nevermind.

If we were on same team, that was probably my wife. If I was the killer, sorry, I didnt mean to camp

  • You needed to report in the game. Question though, did anyone try to get the killer to try to hit you on the stairs. The animation should have allowed you to get past her.

  • Bubba is a sweet boy. He just want a friend. How dare you insult him. Bad random person on the internet, bad.

  • Use the frenzy against Legion. Fake vaults is big. Btw the time they realize they been faked, you gone in other direction. On console, 360 the ######### out of Legion. Smart play, knowing when and if to heal(you really shouldnt). And for the love of god, juke. I have raked up so many kills as Legion(honestly all killers) because survivors go potato and decide to run in a straight line.

  • @AlwaysInAGoodShape I love your posts and the passion you put in them. There are times though it seems it would be quicker to read War and Peace than some of your posts. You go into such great detail, which is amazing, but at times it does feel like information overload. Don't get me wrong, I read all of them, but as my ex wife says, I am a very strange person.

As for the subject of this post, while I play on console, I think this concept of custom PTB events/testing would be a great addition. It would allow trying a new, interesting, and sometimes controversial changes or concepts for a week or so to see if they have any validity with an actual play ground, instead of the small in house QA team.

Why don't we have in game chat or have the option to continue playing with the same players?

Because the concept was originally intended to not have any communication outside of gestures. SWF was added, and as there are multiple chat tools outside of game to use, no reason to add. I agree that reforming your SWF each match is rather annoying and hopefully looked at when we get dedicated servers.

  • I want a survivor cosmetic that is bright neon and radiates a massive aura that could be seen three maps away.

Honestly, I would have no issues with stealth style cosmetics. My only request would be they can only be purchased via shards and not cells. That way you grind and earn the cosmetics, removing the concern of pay to win

  • A couple of things that might help:

Understand this game is not truly competitive. There is no actual win-lose criteria. Go into the game with a casual mindset, as killer or survivor and the stress lessens.

Toxic survivors go out of their way to be toxic. Use it to your advantage. Ignore them. They get clicky with flashlights, walk away. They try looping you, walk away. They go tbag crazy, walk away. They will go scrambling to find you and they will make a mistake.

Toxic messages are only toxic if you allow them. If you respond, you give them acknowledgement and encourage them more. If you are playing via PS4, ignore, report and block. Method that serves me well.

As for the status of certain killers, I wish I could offer advice but sadly cannot there. Best I can say is pray they buff those less than stellar killers.

I been playing since PS4 launch so I understand your frustration. I stopped playing competitive and now take a more laid back approach to the game and it has greatly increased the fun I have in game.

  • @fluffybunny said:

I still don't quite agree with that. If survivors were meant to have just one health state, they'd just die on first hook and often tunneling and camping keeps everyone else from getting points and pips, too. And while survivors are the opponents of killers, the fun of both sides is important. My biggest issue is that the victim in the situation is basically losing pips and points because of what someone else did. I also don't find it all that fun to be chased the entire time I'm in the match.

Yeah, some people need to learn when to give up and switch to an easier target. Typically out of a group of 4, there's always 1 or 2 that aren't that great in the chase aspect.

That is why the tunneling discussion is a tricky one. It is all a matter of perspective. Case in point. You mention fun for both sides is important. I disagree. If you are my opponent, I am not worried about your fun. I am worried about either escaping you or killing you. Simple as that. Neither of our opinions are wrong. We just view the game differently.

Thank you for this wonderful discussion and listening to my point of view on the topics. It was a refreshing change.

the times you were injured, I would have switched from my current target to you, unless that target was also injured. I would have went after who I thought was weaker in that scenario.

Now if I was in your scenario and it was my second hook, I would have played it out til the end. I rather walk out with some BP than none. That is just my view on it though. Not saying you were wrong, just not how I would have done it personally. We all make our calls on how we handle things.

How do you guys feel about it? I’ve only ever DC’d due to massive spikes in Lag and when I’ve been tunnelled after my second hook.

    I dont get it.

If an other survivor make a bad unhook, then i tunnel.

Because it was a bad unhook and he shouldnt get this extra points.

And you DC, if it happen.

Survivor can make mistakes, but you DC after 1 mistake.

You are the bad teammate in this moment.

PS: DC because reallife is good.

    Because reallife is important.

I’ll tell you now, I DC’d because of tunnelling only once, which was a few moments ago. I was playing Laurie, levelling her up to get 3 slots and her Adept. And facing a Legion I would be unhooked... but no matter how far I was, the Legion only went for me. And mind you that the Legion did not hook anyone in between my rescues, so BBQ & Chilli didn’t aid them. Nor did Object of Obsession because I didn’t have it equipped. No... the Legion would give up the chase they were in just to get me.

I am not a bad team mate just because I left only a few seconds before I would’ve died anyway. A bad teammate leaves before they’ve been downed once just due to the killer they’re facing, or DC’ing because “Why not”. DC’ing is acceptable as long as the reasoning is, such as for an Insulin-dependent Diabetic like myself.

If I may ask, when Legion switched from current target to you, were you in an injured state?

  • @Gorgonia said:
I’m saying that I’m not justifying the joke or the offense based on their ignorance or lack of intention. How is that contradictory? And how is an unintended action with a negative consequence not an offense? Negligence does have a consequence, legally.
Correct me if I read your response incorrectly or misinterpreted it.

Negligence from a legal stand point comes for a preventable action that causes harm. Leaving your car in neutral on a hill and it runs smashes into a bus full of nuns is Negligence. Using legal terminology in a discussion of personal feelings is comparing apples to tanks. They are not related at all. Telling a bad joke that hurts the feelings of one person is not a crime. Well maybe a crime against comedy, but not a legal crime.

  • I have only DCed when its a real life issue, and even that is rare. Usually I stay in game and let the survivors farm me or if playing survivor, give the killer a free kill. No reason to punish others and make them lose BP because of my life issues.

TLDR: A "first hook" rescue should automatically have a 10 second borrowed time effect (that would stack with the perk) to discourage camping/tunneling and reduce toxicity in the game.

*EDIT: I've also suggested in a comment further down a benefit to killer- "It would be cool if killers got double sacrifice blood points for hooking a different survivor from the one they hooked last."

The killers will just chase after you for the duration. They already do that for BT.

I also think there should be more benefit for switching targets instead of tunneling the last hooked, though giving survivors more to do while working on gens (like finding fuel cans, etc.) may also help as killers may feel pressured to get the 4k and win.

Perhaps more to punish camping and tunneling point-wise may also be helpful.

Punishment does not work. Hook vultures are proof of that.

Regardless I don't think camping and tunneling should be an easy way to rank up and I've been told by people that it is.

If you rank up from camping, you have had scores of potato survivors in your lobby and you are one lucky camper.

Tunneling is a bit of a tricker topic because exactly what is camping? Is it going after an already injured survivor as compared to that healthy survivor? Take out the weak link. Is it going after that Meg you know was already on the hook twice as compared to that Dwight you haven't hooked yet? Again, weak link. That is not tunneling, that is making a smart play. Now if you spend the entire match hunting that Jake with the flashlight and ignore everyone on gens, yeah that is tunneling and no, you wont rank up that way.

I mean I asked someone who was camping and he told me it was an easy way of obtaining pips. I don't know how it actually is as I don't camp. I'll apply pressure if someone farms behind me, but that's basically it. Camping is boring imo for both sides.

I mean, I get that, but it's also making it likely the tunneled person doesn't get that much points as they're spending the entire game running from the killer. They don't get to do gens or go for saves. A lot of times it'll affect everyone's points and it often isn't the survivor's fault. If I'm playing solo and someone just happens to farm me, I'm ultimately the one punished for the act of another. There's little to no way to tell they'd do that ahead of time, either, unless you see them doing it in the match. That would involve avoiding being caught, though. The farmers are often following around the hurt people to make sure they get the unhook. And yeah. XD It'd be better to go after someone who aren't currently in their element.

First off, I realize in my second point I accidentally said camping when I meant tunneling. I apologize.

I agree camping is completely boring for both sides, and it is a tactic I rarely use. But it is a tactic I have used. I have no shame admitting it.

With the old ranking system, camping did benefit a bit more for ranking. With the current embelm system, camping highly reduces your chances to pip unless the survivors are idiots and feed the killer. Survivors should be able to get done at least 2 gens if not 3 in the time of a full camp. They should have gens 3-5 being worked on. That said, if the first survivor tries to free themselves, slips on struggle or suicides, it benefits the killer and rewards the camp.

Tunneling to me is that tricky topic.
As a survivor, I both hate and love tunneling. If the killer is somewhat skilled, it provides a very fun and tense experience. If the killer is very skilled, yeah it sucks because they got me dead to rights. Evasion is not my strongest skill. If the killer is weak, two loops and a nice timed pallet and I am gone. Now as a killer, I have no issues at all with proper tunneling. Take at the weak target. If you are injured, I am on you. If you got unhooked, sorry for you but you are going back up. My goal is to remove as many survivors out of the game as I can as quickly as I can. Yeah it sucks for the survivor, but this is not a co-op game, it is a 4 v 1 PVP game. Survivors are my opponents, not my BFFs. I want you hooked and dead. Sorry.

The biggest issue with tunneling is killers who over tunnel and do now know when to break chase. You have to know when to just give it up. Esp for lower ranked/newer killers, this is a hard thing to learn. Also added is the extreme tunneler. The killer who spends all game tunneling that one survivor who was unlucky enough to bring in the flashlight or shirtless David. Theses killers have a pathological need to hunt down and destroy this target for their unknown sin and completely blow up their game. These people scare me.

  • As I have recently went back to using the Wraith after a far too long break, the build break downs give me some great ideas of ways I can change up my build to fit my style. I will have to wait a bit as I need to get perks back up as I just recently decided to P3 him.

I will agree with you Boss about Windstorm. I absolutely love that add on series for the Wraith and usually run one if not two add ons from that series at all times.

Honestly all this preaching about deranking by the streamers is beyond hilarious. As if this game is even slightly competitive with its unbelievably shoddy foundation and lack of balance. What is more than a pressing issue is all the HUGE bugs and exploits in this game, and quite frankly examples of terrible game design which to this day still need a lot of work.

Here's just a few of this game's problems, more important and revelant than deranking...

    • Looping (BAD GAME DESIGN)
    • Camping (BAD GAME DESIGN)
    • Hatch (BAD GAME DESIGN)
    • Huntress hatchets, Hillbilly chainsaw (Ridiculous collisions)
    • Decisive strike (Fixable, but devs are absolutely petrified to change it, pathetic really!)
    • Borrowed time (Revert the deep wounds change)
    • HEX perks (Why are these a thing seriously, did you forget its 1v4 people?)
    • SWF (Limit to two survivors)

Deranking is fixed quite easily by making more viable killers, if streamers REALLY don't want to go against nurse and hillbilly, then make more than 2 viable killers. In addition to this STOP MAKING KILLERS ON YOUR PERCEIVED SUBJECTIVE VIEW OF FUN!

Current Mothers dwelling tree/locker exploit (survivor jumps into locker gets caught, as a result killer is stuck)

Stupid roller skating animation after dropping pallet (No its not funny, its absolutely disgusting this company charges for cosmetics when their foundation for the game is a laughing stock)

INFINITE [BAD WORD] LOADING SCREEN! I among many have lost tonnes of rare addons and offerings to this bug, why aren't the streamers talking about this?!?!

Community as a whole: I've not seen a worse gaming community than DBD, I've played all the repeat offenders known for toxic communities, but by far this is the worst. Absolute cesspit.

P.S Stop with the cosmetics, and fix the game! When the foundation is sound, then start complaining about deranking, but at the moment the game is in a really bad state.

Damn who pissed in your Cheerios this morning?

    Sorry

I think your intentions are correct, finding a way to prevent first hook death. The thing is, it is a part of the game and honestly, it is not broken. Yes it sucks, but that does not mean it is broken. You have short games, it happens. Some games you will get hooked three times, some two, some just once. Some games you will get moried. It is the nature of the game.

Giving a survivor a free perk is a punishment to all killers, not just your campers/tunnelers. This mechanic would be so greatly abused, would give tons of unsafe hooks that turn into safe hooks because of the free burrowed time. Then add to it Deliverance, where survivors can unhook themselves if they get a safe unhook. You would have created a new meta.

You are putting killers even more behind the eight ball.

You just proved that you comment without reading, I stated earlier that activating the borrowed time effect on someones first hook should count as an unsafe hook rescue (unless the rescuer is running the perk "borrowed time").

You are right, I missed that point. That does not show I did not read though. Just shows my memory sucks. Also, I have not been rude or disrespectful to you in this post. There is absolutely no reason for you to be disrespectful towards me.

That said, you are wanting an additional mechanic added that would in turn punish survivors who unhook safely. So if there is no camping going on, you unhook a survivor first hook, you do not get a safety hook. What is happening is this QoL change is actually ending up punishing everyone but hook farmers and die hard campers because honestly, they wont care anyways.

I commend you for trying to think up a way to help players, esp new survivors. I just do not see this fix as being the way to do it. There is too many things with it that punishes rather than aids.

  • I think your intentions are correct, finding a way to prevent first hook death. The thing is, it is a part of the game and honestly, it is not broken. So you want to create a mechanic giving survivors a free borrowed time, thus punishing killers who do not camp, and also punishes killers who have are dealing with overly altruistic survivors (you know, unhook farmers), just because there are some killers who do camp (which is completely within the rules).

This literally can't punish killers that don't camp and would only apply to the first hook and wouldn't apply after the exit gate is powered, I previously gave the example of getting hooked once, receiving an unsafe hook rescue (which is out of your control), being rehooked and camped till dead, how is that fair? They could make it so having the borrowed time effect activate still counts as an unsafe hook rescue unless the rescuer runs the perk "borrowed time").

You're literally complaining about people who unhook in the Killer's face, so this would definitely affect those who don't camp. Hook vultures don't wait until the Killer has left the area.
If you're going to lie about your intentions, at least be consistent.

First of all f*ck you for calling me a liar, second of all this would punish the person preforming the unsafe hook rescue instead of the person getting an unsafe hook rescue.

You have changed who this is supposed to punish, who it is supposed to help, why you want this change about 5 times in this thread. It is a bit difficult to know who you want to punish. Perhaps you should step back and re organize your thoughts on this suggestion.

It is extremely easy to see who would get punished without doing anything wrong with your suggestions.
