The excuse is meaningless, true, but teaching them how to run their business is also meaningless. If you dont like their business, all you can do is stop supporting it. :^)

I have limited it as much as possible without outright quitting. No more tome, no more buying cosmetics, although I did get the SH chapter so I guess they got their money out of me for that.

  • @Xbob42 said:

They're definitely not a small company in terms of money. They often talk about their millions of active users, which means they have tens of millions, if not hundreds of millions of dollars. That's a big company. Maybe they need to hire more people?

At the same time, the dude making a roar for Billy probably didn't stop fixing critical bugs to do so. The issue is a little more complex than that. While money and manpower can definitely help get issues fixed faster, it's not as fast as people would like. It also comes down to realistic business priorities. They need to keep people engaged and talking about new things. So we need new characters, new maps, new cosmetics, new rifts, new trailers, etc. Those things have a far bigger impact to the general public than "we fixed some bugs." But they also want to retain players by making sure there aren't bugs that completely destroy the game. But for anyone that knows anything about game development, fixing something breaks something else. It's practically a law of programming.

But then they also have to deal with legacy code, aka spaghetti code, and refactoring that is no joke. At some point it might actually be easier to just chuck the whole thing in the trash and rebuild the game from scratch, which I assume is what they did with DBD Mobile, and is probably why that has some more advanced features than the "real" game. But, again, time, manpower, money. And yes, money is a critical part of doing business, it doesn't mean they're a bunch of money-grubbing villains, they have livelihoods to consider and probably want to continue being able to work on this game and more games in the future.

I'm not really defending them or attacking them, I think they're between a rock and a hard place and are probably trying their best to get the things we want out as quickly as possible. Whether that's being managed well or not behind the scenes, I have no idea. Game development management is notoriously poor industry-wide, so it wouldn't be a surprise at all if something was being bungled, but that's an assumption I can't in good faith make because I don't have the information to determine that.

Very very well stated, I’ve said it before I think they have good intentions. I have no problem with them wanting to turn as much profit as possible, and of course I’ve never run a video game myself, but it seems short sighted.

Just with Stranger things and Silent hill they have had chances to bring in lots more players but how many of those stuck around? And it’s not just bugs, matchmaking has been really bad and I’m not sure I buy into their fix actually working. If you start a game and get absolutely owned at the start it doesn’t make you want to get better, it makes you wonder why you’re going against people with 5000 hours in game and all the best “loot.”

  • @Sunbreaker7 said:

Those are such bad examples you throw, but I see your point.

It took them forever to fix LeatherFace's audio bug where the chainsaw looped forever until used again when pallet slammed. However, this is hardly about budget, but rather their decision to introduce fixes in bulk rather than single hotfixes. It takes time for them to bring out fixes to things they have already fixed a while ago. However, they do fix and meintenance the game, so I am not complaining but rather happy they take good care of their game. Can't say the same about many other games I enjoy to play.

I wonder if the budget fix is their decision or forced because of the coding. I know Scott talked about it on YouTube I don’t think they expected this success so they didn’t think the coding was going to be such an issue. Now for every fix two more things get broken.

  • @Zeus said:

Idk man..they are working on a lot. They are working on graphics update, on reworks, in new chapter, on cross play and progression and so much more that we don't know yet or I might have missed. I would say they are quite efficient in what they do.

That’s the other problem, instead of fixing current bugs they decide to add 5 new features.

Yea, the game needs new things to grow and not become stale for sure. But when a new player starts, realizes how buggy the game is they don’t stick around. It’s already a tough sell to my friends because of the grind and the game not actually working makes it impossible.

Work on updates graphics and the new chapters every three months to keep the game changing and growing, the rest should wait until the current game itself is fixed.

Like I said above the billy roar took time, and due to coding possibly caused some of these new bugs. The billy re work itself was a waste of time honestly not because of his power level but because all that really needed done was an addon pass. Instead of dedicating resources to overheat mechanics that time could have been spent fixing a big or two.

I appreciate what they do, the game is still somewhat fun for me but not like before. It had become harder and harder to ignore the problems.

Shortly, like the changes announced within the next month on the last live stream that were still waiting for?

  • Here come the people who actually hate it too but will claim they like them and tell you not to speak for them.

Yes, it’s true. It’s always true that they couple pull some budget from cosmetics team and add to tech. I don’t want anyone to lose a job, but sometimes tough things need to happen

Maybe turn on a PC or a PS4 and actually look at the spaghetti nonsense that gets pushed out before pushing it out. Who gave the “ok” to let this be pushed out? I mean, it’s really not hard to see how much hot garbage this is.

They seriously can’t be so inept that they’re missing these during tests, the only answer is they are literally not testing the final version before patch releases.

I really don’t wanna do this but I will

Auras were changed so they would have less bugs with them, whats going on right now is that the auras are too dark, causing what playing on a gameboy advanced in the sun would look like on maps like Ormond. Not a bug, just an oversight

Who said the auras were fixed to prevent bugs?

  • @Scavenger2287 said:

The new auras i agree, should make them brighter. But the new billy roar is a great addition imo.

Okay I’ll accept we all have opinions on that. But here’s the real thing, why are they adding anything new at all when they should be fixing current bugs?

I don’t mean no new chapters, cosmetics or that, but these little things they think are cute. Instead of spending time fixing any of the dozens of bugs someone literally had to spend some time adding the roar. And the way the game is coded that may be causing some of the new bugs.

  • Also to be ahead of the comments, I know they’re “fixing,” auras eventually... lol right... but they celery planned to change them just maybe not this much. Who asked for them to be changed at all?

  • They didn’t want to change it this much but the fact they wanted to change it at all is mind boggling

  • It’s always happened to me, I got used to it but I wonder if you took a break? Maybe not playing him for a bit then coming back causes the motion sickness until you they used to it again

  • I have a feeling they won’t wanna figure out individual situation so they’ll just throw 600k at everyone which stink for people who spent

  • I will tag myself in every one of these and HOPE they don't jsut say sorry and throw BPs at everyone

We cared about the aura on Ormond before they were fixed, don't speak for everyone else.

I mean with THIS patch. I just checked a cheater's forum. (NO I do not cheat, nor will I ever cheat. I do lurk to see what type of stuff is going around or if anti-cheat is doing it's job) Both one of the programs that shows who the killer is and a killer SWF-in-lobby detector were both marked as patched.

Someone on Otz stream claims there's still one other method to see who the killer is via packet sniffing or something but I haven't see any evidence of it. It might exist but the expertise required would be far more than your typical script-kiddy would be able to handle since it wouldn't be available in the form of an easy-to-download program.

I guess I don't know if it still works with the patch since it was literally 7 hours ago,but considering they thought they fixed it last time I'm guessing they missed the new program.

  • None of you guessed Auras being messed up

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1484041#Comment_1484041

Actually I might be wrong. I'm weary of trying it, so I'll just go on the assumption it doesn't work anymore.

    @Toybasher said:

Supposedly the log files are now encrypted which makes these programs not work anymore.

It still works, multiple people have posted screenshots today and I've had 3 teammates this week tell me correctly who the killer was pre-game. I run solo survivor so I don't change anything but it ruins the surprise. I asked multiple times this morning why they locked killers before patching that program out and @Peanits and @Almo ignored that question despite being in the thread all morning.

  • @Almo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1482779#Comment_1482779

They can change addons and perks still. So the contention that "the Killer can't do anything about it now" is incorrect.

Allowing Killer swaps will make per-Killer MMR impossible, and we need that feature.

and for at least the third time the question was avoided, WHY was this done BEFORE fixing the new exploit? Survivors can load perks and items against a certain killer now

  • @Peanits said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1482240#Comment_1482240

Yes, we take notes on any constructive feedback we read on these forums. Ultimately we have to decide if having separate killer ratings is worth the tradeoffs.

    @Almo said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1482240#Comment_1482240

It's far more important to get per-Killer MMR into the game. In order to match Killers with Survivors appropriately according to the skill level the Killer player has with the selected Killer, we must lock the Killer selection in the lobby. Otherwise, switching Killer would require booting all the Survivors out who don't match the newly-selected MMR for that Killer.

@Almo and @Peanits any chance you can reply to the part about the new exploit, I've had teammates within the past week tell me correctly who the killer was pre game. The change you made didn't block all the cheat programs.

  • @LowSpecGamersMatter said:

how do YOU know that the devs havent patched it? Are you using this software by yourself?

    @oxygen said:

The logs are encrypted now so I don't see how they can be used to grab that information anymore ☺️

    @xenotimebong said:

The exploit has been fixed by them encrypting the log file in this patch, so they changed them both at exactly the same time. No need for hysteria.

As shown above I've had teammates telling me in lobby who the killer is and they were correct, this is within the past week. It was naive of them and us to think only one program would do this or one thing would block all cheating programs.

  • They did but there is a new one that worked as of last week any word on that @Peanits

  • @Peanits said:

It's mentioned in the patch notes, but switching killers while queuing is disabled in preparation for the upcoming matchmaking system. You'll have a separate rating for each killer, so you'll be locked to the killer you have selected when you start queuing.

any word on the hack? Survivors can use an outside program AGAIN to see killers and prep perks... last minute switching was the only way to combat it.

  • If so I hope they have fixed the new hack/program that lets survivors see killer in lobby.

  • @Booper_Of_Snoot said:

Infectious is completely balanced. No matter the killer. Sloppy is aswell.

Its kinda silly to ask for nerfs and buffs to fine perks.

Not asking, just saying it’s weird. Infectious is a “stronger,” perk than sloppy yet it has no restrictions.

  • @Nobsyde said:

    I expect:

    • new bugs during the unhooks (currently: impossible to hit/grab a survivor while unhooking), with possibly some new hook tech mistakenly (re)introduced
    • new audio bugs like "impossible to hear a survivor healing up" or "survivors stop making sounds after using quick and quiet"
    • a TON of windows impossible to vault for Legion while in feral frenzy (this is a MUST, I will be very disappointed if they don't put this extremely funny easter egg in this patch, like they always do /s)
    • perma overheating for hillbilly after, I dunno, being stunned while overheat
    • Tinkerer doesn't trigger, as it should for 12 seconds after a generator is 70% repaired, but for 70 seconds after a generator is 12% repaired
    • when two or more people try to blind the same killer which is using Lightborn, the killer explodes in 1000 confettis, the Konami Code starts playing and the next time one tries to launch DbD a game of Pac Man starts instead

Lol perfect except for at least five more spots that Nurse can’t blink to despite being in LoS and on the same level

  • At least 5 new bugs unrelated to any of the changes will surface

  • The chase started pretty early, and went away from the traps he had set up. Yes that’s on the trapper, he could have ignored and focused on an area.

Point remains, just by running straight ahead the survivor can waste a TON of time.

  • I’d rather not the killer lose the benefit of BBQ, pop, etc because a whiny player DCs... as a survivor I’d rather not miss out on my Altruism for BP and emblems due to a salty teammate DC... so I will stay.

  • @Toybasher said:

It'd also get rid of TACTICAL DISCONNECT, INCOMING! to give your SWF buddy hatch after the killer dared to leave you on the ground for like 10 seconds and you didn't bring unbreakable (because by extension, that's the Smoll PP build when combo'd with the DS you never play without)

    https://i.redd.it/444fabnf4zz31.png

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mquQq7wUWL4

Mobile literally already fixed DC for hatch.

My guy I had a sweaty team two-three matches ago tell me I need to quit smurfing. Mind you I generally keep myself in purple/green cause I know I don't wanna try hard all the time, but these guys were rank 1, 1, 1 and 13. Quite obvious what the play here was. Just kill em and move on at that point you know? I still haven't run into the same survivor in all my time of playing so its doubtful you'll see em again. A small percentage doesn't equate to the whole base of em.

Yeah, right after the first game my next two were both similar to 3, 3, 3 and 15 so they're clearly hoping to force a match with a easy to bully killer.

    @thrawn3054 said:

If nothing else was said they may have been disgruntled by the idea you were smurfing. Just as people dislike high rank survivors trying to bully low level killers. People will dislike the reverse.

As to you're point about killers not intentionally deranking, I had a Wraith doing exactly that the other day.

I agree, the reverse is unfair as well which is why when I end up like this I push for 4k double pips to get back to "correct ranks," ASAP.

It's weird people still smurf/depip as killer though since MM is so busted.

i use surge pop and thrill. work like a charm. Surge hoping to get a gen or two regressed close by from the down. Pick them up and look for gens far away to use pop on. Its insanely good on any 115 killer. I like it on clown as well as legion. It kills gens all over the map and once you get the combo off once its insanely hard for the survivors to come back from it. Especially if you pressure the gens and ignore the hook. The last perk is up to you. I like running noed in case theyre godlike survivors and somehow get through the combo, or i cant pull it off in a timely manner. Then they get to deal with noed because likely, they havent done any totems with all the gen pressure. The longer they last with this build the more danger theyre in

As much as I like Thrilling Trenors BBQ is close enough in power and effect that I run it for points

    Overall quite overrated imo.

I only think it turns into an "alright" perk on setup killers that have a slow early game like Hag, Trapper, Demo, Myers etc.

As someone else pointed out, I find Discordance does its job more effectively in most cases and you actually get more value out of it as the game goes on unlike Corrupt.

I’m with you, when I first started I used Discordance all the time and then I bought into the Corrupt hype. Don’t get me wrong it’s a solid perk but I prefer discordance as 9/10 games it gets me into a chase earlier than Corrupt does.

  • @Xbob42 said:

This game really confuses me. In the video above, the comments on this very forum were about his "critical mistake" of chasing a guy for an additional 15 seconds, and that's why he deserved to lose the game. But here we see multiple people with their thumbs up their butts for 2 minutes is overrated. Which is it?!

The thing is IF IF IF IF all four survivors literally hide and wait out corrupt for two minutes and the killer doesn’t patrol that far it’s a wasted slot. That oversimplifies it though because...

    1. some killers benefit from two minutes obviously Hag, Trapper and Demo. Also Freddy and Plague get a good boost too.
    2. its rare for the whole team to wait it out unless they’re SWF. In solo queues someone will go to start gens, I know because as a solo is not standing around for 2 minutes.
    3. So what if it’s just 2 minutes, how many times did we hear about old Ruin even if it lasted for 30 seconds it did it’s job of preventing gen rush.
    4. Making people walk 15-20 seconds to a new gen is actually significant... in that time a pair of survivors could have done half a gen.
  • Whoever this is needs to reach out to BHVR/devs/mods someone ASAP. Asking for advice from people in the forums isn’t going to get you a clear answer just because none of us know or have any Authority

  • Thanks all so far for suggestions!

    @DaKnight said:

Ruin and sloppy. I play mostly hit and run with killers like wraith/hag/ghostface so sloppy gives me good value even if I drop chases very quickly.

Ruin is just incredible while it's still alive if you are using discordance and sloppy to actively shove people off generators. I also hate having to give someone a big head start in a chase just so I can kick their gen first. Sometimes it dies in 30 seconds but other games it can give you like 2-3 extra gens worth of time.

Ruin+Corrupt is really good too, and with a high mobility killer I almost consider the first 2 minutes of the game "free" since while ruin is up no real progress will be made on the first 4 gens and you can start clearing out the pallets nearby.

Im thinking I may test this for a bit, I do enjoy hit and run. Injuring survivors and rotating so they’re always healing and as long as Ruin is active that should equate to a lot of passive regression.

    @[Deleted User] said:

Pop is disgustingly strong when used right. Surge and Sloppy are both good, but they're both also taking up a perk slot that could be used on Pop.

With that said, there are some killers that Pop doesn't make a ton of sense on. I would probably prefer Sloppy to Pop on Hag, for example, since she doesn't need to focus on gens as much and people will probably try to heal through the Sloppy because it's really dangerous to stay injured against Hag. So, either they're wasting tons of time healing or they're going to be easy pickings whenever they trigger a trap.

Pop is so good, maybe I just need to use it more and get a feel for it better. I’ve also heard a lot of people state you don’t have to use it every time you activate it, even 3-4 Pops per game is a lot of regression, do you agree?

  • @MadLordJack said:

Corrupt is an unfortunate perk in the sense that it has become worse and worse over time as players adapt. Back in the Old Ruin meta, when people still attempted to get 12 hooks, Corrupt was my go-to slowdown perk. Now almost everyone just stealths it out and I get no value, because that is the correct counterplay and I can't really argue with it.

The one argument about that is against non-SWF teams if 2-3 people hide but the other 1-2 tries a gen that gives you someone to chase and hook without anyone else doing anything.

But yeah I feel more and more people are using 2 minutes to loot chests or break full totems so it’s losing some value.

Personally I would rather have Discordance so if they spawn together I can disrupt 2 people ASAP plus it works well late game when you’re down to a few gens it lets you know where they’re working
