Wow. All you killer mains are not very bright. 1 of the medals you get end game requires being chased by the killers. So majority of players think they can use Sprint to give a quick chase and escape. Now for me, I save it all the time cause of scratch marks. I dont want the killer to happen upon them. But I generally use it to get to a gen quickly then work on it. By the time killer reaches me my exhaustion is gone and I make a quick escape. Or I'm walking through hoping the killer doesnt notice me then burst out when I find they do. Stop making everybody seem like trolls. Makes you look dumb. (FYI I know trolls do exist but sprint is more strategic than a tool to poke fun
Sprint burst is a well designed perk, not overtly strong or weak, and this thread shows why. So many ways to use it some better than others.
You could even argue that, much like self care, some people use SB so poorly it hurts them... I’m looking at you Mr Ace that literally walks from gen to gen, walks to rescue, etc to save his sprint burst and doesn’t realize how inefficient he’s being.

I would say the mobile team should come to the main team, and that the main team go to the mobile team, but that would be terribly unfair to the mobile players.
I’ve said a million times they need to add better people to the team or replace some of the people bit pulling their weight, falls on deaf ears... now we see they have better people right under their nose but don’t have them working the main game?!?!?!? Between auras and mobile having bots I feel like that’s their better game.

Hey, I got a great idea! Let's make the things that are supposed to allow players see things far away in the distance, and make them hard to see far away in the distance! /s
Can't make this stuff up.
its not just distance either, even Nurse calling at close range is tough to catch
-
I’ve played a lot less, ALOT!!! And I am seriously considering dropping BBQ but the double BP is worth it even if the reading is useless
-
I agree though far too often they wait til the last second for no real benefit, even if you miss thru probably would have gotten more distance but running immediately.
I do hold off til the last minute if I think I can finish a gen though

igy but honestly the problem isnt that they need to verse bad players its that the only players you will verse if the mmr is good and you are a good player is either death squads or spirits/nurses
all variety will be stripped from the game with mmr
I think plenty of people can play the next tier of killers well enough to stay high MMR so you could also go against solid Freddy, Huntress, Etc
But yeah as a high rank killer the only think keeping me sane now is half of the red rank survivors I go against are flat out BAD... if it turns into going are really good players and good SWF playing killer will be 100% stress

I don't really see how either Deathslinger or Pyramid Head are boring to go against. They're both killers who are reliant on their powers to win chases, requiring different kinds of strategies to go against, they aren't traditional M1 killers and that's okay. They both have their own strengths and weaknesses and have their own niche they fill. I don't think either of them are really boring to go against either and only PH becomes a real problem if he's running I'm all ears. My advice to against PH is to abuse the hell out of terrain differences whenever you can and to be unpredictable during chases. I don't think either of them need any particular changes to them either and all the changes like cooldowns/slowdowns from using their abilities would already cripple whatever chase potentional they have. Especially the idea to change Deathslinger to a 32m/115% killer, it'd completely neuter him and just turn him into a boring M1 killer like Legion.
People call killers “unfun,” whenever they break the standard mold of loop twice, drop pallet, loop twice, take a hit, loop twice, dead hard...
This is why PH, slinger, spirit, Freddy and Doctor are are so “unfun,” to go against for a lot of people.
Having to adapt your ABC strategy Turns a lot of people whiny. Reminds me of a friend who used to play Madden and run literally one play Tom Brady passing to Randy Moss the entire game and WIN because it was so busted. We started manually controlling and triple teaming him and he never won after that and stopped playing soon after.

That’s the problem with most forum members perception of balanced.
Killer mains balance: destroying survivors all day every day 4K.
Survivor main balance: always escaping.
so true, finding someone who actually wants the game “balanced,” is like finding a unicorn riding a leprechaun

How should that change anything? You might be able to pull that off when you get the stun (if even), but you will not stun a good Slinger .. you know he can shoot you before you have the oportunity. And when you run away... great he will ignore that pallet and walks around.
Good then he walks around, it’s longer than the route you’re running. Deathslinger is in-escapable but you can waste a whole heck of a lot of time running straight ahead and pre dropping.

https://youtu.be/40gHL0W48HA?list=PLw2MrnkI4p3NrLIMJhgKh9MDNV34ix4c7&t=552
Cant set timestamp somehow, go to 9:10
Guessing game, no, there is a better counter to Slinger. Run to a pallet and drop it early, turn and hold W... there you’ve just forced a 110 killer to chase you for a long time. If your teammates aren’t asleep at the wheel 3 gens should easily get done in the first chase

There was already a discussion like this and I think they have to accommodate the MMR with overall killer level, devotion level and so on to some point so that if you play against the "highest" MMR with your main killer, you start at "medium" with the ones you never played.
But a kind of system like this is needed to get to know new killers without getting frustrated.
Another point is in my opinion that if they generalise MMR for survivors, having separate perk collections for the "skins" becomes useless. But they would have then to do something similar for Killerside.
But I will never think that they will actively reduce the grind for either side, because one way or another they might think that this would hurt their profits.
I mean once you reach a certain level of skill you can pick up any killer and at least put up a competitive fight. Nurse is the only real exception here.
Thete should be some sort of bleed over, I don’t Know how much your MMR will go up by winning but if you 4k as trapper and it goes up 10 points all of your other killers should go up 2-4 points as well.

@Sadsnacks said:
I think we're going to see the same issued pop up with the new MMR as we've seen with the broken MM the last 6-7 months.
Let me explain:
First of all, most killers have had to endure awful matchmaking for the last several months and as a result I think many are bunred out on it and have given up trying. Many have probably snapped and gone full face camp 24/7 or have just switched into casual mode.
Second of all, a lot of survivors have had to endure awful matchmaking the last several months, and after months of playing with potatoes in solo and getting matched against rank 1 killers many of them have probably resorted to using extra sweaty builds.
As a result we have more competitive solo q survivors and more uncompetitive killers.
If the MMR works it will start placing a decent chunk of killers into lobbies with lower skilled survivors since the killers no longer give two [bad word] about winning and just about playing for fun how they enjoy playing, which sadly means as killer you'll lose all the time. I don't think most killers enjoy slugging, camping, and tunneling to begin with but many times those tactics along with slow down perks etc are the only way to win against the more competent lobbies. I think it's way more fun to just get in one chase at a time and down someone, put them on a hook, go look for someone else. Rinse, repeat. But you don't win that way against skilled survivors.
On the flip side you'll see more and more survivors ending up in more "skilled" and competitive lobbies but with less killers available that the system will think, based off it's algorithm and parameters, equals the same or similar enough skill to match them with.
And then there we are again with an MMR that starts just throwing randoms together because lobby after lobby of highly "skilled" survivors have been waiting ages for a killer to enter lobby.
I could be wrong, of course. This just crossed my mind lately.
Nope you’re right I think. Too many good survivors not enough good killers, and by good I mean high MMR. So in order to not keep people waiting they’ll open up the ranges farther and farther until it really just becomes a random first queue, first play type of system.

If it's the challenge I'm thinking of, it's not even required in a single match. It's just three total.

People are really blowing this one out of proportion. Like he said just play the game, you’ll get it in afew games assuming you’re team can do gens even if someone plays chicken with you to leave you should still get 1-2 each game.

Meanwhile I do like nvidia to make the game clearer and the scratches are a bit easier to see. I don’t remove my red stain or anything but I’m sure it’s probably still a benefit to me to see better.
If you can do one you can do the other, people who say it’s okay when they switch the game but it’s not ok when the other foes are hypocrites. Now if we talk hacks or altering files they’re just different altogether

@xEa said:
What have they all in common? They give little to no reaction time by faking their ability. Deathslinger can simply fake his shot as often as he wants, Pyramid head leaves you to no joice aswell once he is using his ability. You either drop the pallet and get hit or you dont and get hit anyway. Killers like Huntress might work similar but you have counterplay and you know when she is about to attack.
I am really tired of those concepts devs come up recently.. apparently they dont understand their own game. Its no "skill" when you can sole counter defense of survivors by pressing a button. Its extremly frustrating to guess if and when the attack is coming. And to say the least, it is just a guess, nothing more and nothing less.
Same with Spirit. Versing this killer is a guessing game aswell, which makes her frustrating to verse.
I know this video got posted already, but this topic is still very relevant and he discribes it in a very understandable way.
Counterpoint, killers are sick of survivors being able to know EXACTLY how many times they can loops each pallet and turning chases into a mathematical nightmare of pallet drop + loop - downs = gens done
There is still a chase, looping, mind games to the killers you mentioned but they are different than it would be for trapper.

i don't understand? currently they are not active and dcing is rampant again, and how is that going to affect the mmr right now? it's been collecting data, but the problem is these dc gives false information to the mmr system, a dc is not good or bad, and should not be considered but no one knows because they are being secretive about it and thus i am assuming that a dc will increase the mmr rating. and that's the problem with being secretive about this, it could literally not exist but we can't prove that it does.
The DC penalties ARE ACTIVE, have been for a couple days now.

This. But that also means that we'll never truly know if its working or not. A double-edged sword.
That's the point, there is no way we can prove it's not working. They quite literally could change NOTHING, they could make it so matchmaking is complete RANDOM and we couldn't prove it.

I guess I’m confused, are people mad that they can’t get this done instantly in one game? Because the challenge itself requires nothing special, if you play it will happen maybe in two games, maybe in ten. There’s no new rift for two weeks anyways.

Well, if you know you're not gonna get them all because they're strong loopers, might as well guarantee the ones you can get. Let the memelords complain in the post-game chat, but you can only do so much against a really strong team, especially since it also depends on the map you get, the killer you selected (and the combination of these two can dramatically swing the outcome towards or away from your favor) and all that good stuff.
Sometimes you just know you don't stand a chance, so take what you can get. If they don't like it, who cares?
This. Also it’s very rare for them all to be strong loopers, most teams even of 4-man SWF have a weak link. Once you find him and hook him it gives you a chance because he’s bait.
Now the better loopers have to come to save him, hopefully you can put him on a dead zone or away from the strongest loops.
This is one reason Object is so strong, and why some survivors click to get your attention. They know they’re the best looper on the team and they want you to chase them.
Basiavlly all survivors are equal when it comes to holding M1 on a gen, so your goal is to let the good players hold M1 and chase the bad ones at the start. That isn’t an insult against survivors either, just a fact that the skill isn’t in the gen it’s in the chases.
-

I can confirm, your MMR will not start at a default if you've already been playing, since MMR has already been running in the background though it's not been used to create matches.

Thanks for being so active Almo!

@Xbob42 said:
I think it should probably take into account the level of each killer, how many perks you have unlocked, maybe even how many games you've played with them, etc, to establish a base MMR. Even if you've never touched a killer (like when a new one comes out) if you're P3 on 7 other ones you should get a boost so you're not matched with new players, but not so much of a boost that you need to stress too hard while you learn.
Also maybe consider adding an unranked practice mode that isn't just Kill Your Friends.
Yep that’s what I mean. Take Otz for example (or insert fave streamer) and pretend he realizes tomorrow that he never bought the Oni DLC. I don’t care if he’s never played one minute with Oni before, if you pair him up against new or weak players he’s going to steamroll then for 5-10-20 games whatever it is until his MMR forces him into a better bracket.
-
@Cheers said:
Unfortunately to many like you, this is probably the best way for it too work so people can try out different killers.
I could see for new players sure, they need a few “easy games,” with each killer to decide who they like.
Im not bragging, so I hope it doesn’t sound that way, I have A LOT to learn about individual killer tips I’m sure to play optimally against red SWF death squads or even solid solo loopers. That said I have a couple thousand killer hours and I know what all of them do. Other than Clown, billy and Hag I feel really confident in all of them if paired against “weak players.”

This. Maybe the devs should go over which Killers actually need individual killer ranking? But now I can finally try out nurse without hating my life
Groupings would be nice for similar killers, or even they could make it so some of your gameplay applies to all killers? For example if you win with Wraith and your MMR goes up by 10 then all your other killers will go up by 1... numbers totally made up
-
Oops wrong thread lol, anyways about this I know it stinks to spend 20 seconds and let them get away, but spending 2 minutes for one down isn’t going to win you any games.
I see players who chase someone for the first 4 minutes then complain about “gen rush.” What were the other 3 players supposed to do?
-
@sulaiman said:
Oh i am not the best of survivors, i will admit it, because i cant loop (mainly because i find running in circles boring), but for me its a hide-and-seek-game, and i can juke killers and lose them in a chase. But a lot of people just believe that being stealthy means you do nothing, and thats simply not true for many of us.
I think a part of the hate comes from the fact that if you have 2 stealhy players in the game, the killer keeps finding the other two time and again, instead of spreading hooks out. but if i get a good team, i will take over a chase and juke the killer, but only if i believe the team is worth it. (i play solo survivor most of the time).
Basicly its a: "i only died because you played different than i wanted you to"-argument from the people who think a killer that can´t be looped like a M1 killer is uncounterable.
No no, there is a time to stealth, to self heal, etc as example i adamantly believe if you use self care properly it’s not a bad perk. If you’re that person I apologize and agree

I agree it probably has more to do with survivors. I can't count the number of times I've given "baby" survivors a break just to see in post-game they were rank 2-4. They're a terrible survivor but got carried to red ranks by a swf team.
It's good for killer to because of the individual killer rankings. If manage to get to red ranks while leveling up a couple of killers Freddy, Ghost Face, and Doctor but then decide to try Nurse, Clown, Huntress, etc you're gonna have a bad time.
As someone who rotated almost all killers (no nurse or billy even pre nerf) I feel bad for the survivors due to this. I rotate but most games I play Huntress, Pyramid, Spirit and Clown mostly so when I have to play “low rank,” as Pig I’m going to steamroll the survivors :-( and not feel proud of it honestly once I hit my dashes I may let them go for example

@sulaiman said:
...that end up doing 4 gens alone because the looper find it boring.
Here, i finished your sentence. I am one of the blendettes, and in a lot of games, i do 2+ gens alone, and 1 or 2 with someone else. Because the looper find it unfun, and running behind the killer with a flashlight is so much more constructive. And the hookrusher just want the easy points, the boring gen alone brings just 1250 bp, a safe unhook with bt brings 1500 and doesnt take so much time.
Even blendettes don´t get to red ranks just by hidding.
The fact that you got so defensive makes me question, Truthfully most red rank survivors think they’re way better than they are. I’ve realized that as killer and solo Survivor.
I am rank 1/2 but I will flat out say I feel like a purple survivor. I don’t do great chases just so so... mostly I do gens and rescue or heal people when it’s smart to do so. Despite flat out admitting I am not great I find literally depip maybe 1 out of 10 games... meaning getting to red is just a matter of time.
Go watch Tofu playing his meme blendette games, his stealth offs, and just by living and escaping he either black pips or pips up at red.

@Katee_Main said:
What's so weird to me is how they say ranks dont mean much, but as soon as I get in a match I know if the killer is red rank or not. I wish everything would kinda stay the way it is. But I'm sure mmr will be ok as long as they use the data that has been taken over the last month or so.
I don’t wanna make this survivor but killer, but a lot of people who say ranks don’t matter focus on survivor. Generally red rank killers are pretty good.
Red rank survivors can be a mish mash of really good players who know when save, know how to loops etc... and that blendettes self caring in the corner against sloppy butcher

I get what you mean, I’ve been on some maps as survivor and killer where there was an amazing set up in the middle of the map that I could run to from basically any gen and make it safely and waste the killers time

Not in relation to SWF, but in relation to him talking about playing the 1%, I will agree he does exaggerate that a lot. Sometimes they have been, but many times they're just a really solid group, not 1% though.
Even so, those exaggerations seem pretty minor to me in the grand scheme of enjoying watching him. I still approach all his game balance analyzing from a neutral stand point and he is general on track.
I think it's pretty important to approach someones ideas without a preconceived notion depending on your opinion of the person. That's why I don't give too much weight to some of the exaggerations he does indeed make.
Still fun to watch, still learning from his games and his chat, up entertaining, I wish nothing but the best for him.

I feel like he points out a lot of the survivor problems as well, there just simply aren't as many currently as on killer side, nor are they as extreme.
He mentions the toxicity on survivors since there is in general more toxicity on the survivor side. I also very rarely ever hear him say anything about survivors cheating. The only "cheating" per say he really talks about is SWF. Everyone has their own opinion on whether you think SWF is cheating, but I personally agree with the sentiment by the literal definition of cheating.
"If he doesn't get a 4k it is a SWF team."
And is he generally wrong about them being a SWF? I don't think so
"Like my god, that guy is just so anooying and biased!!!
And yes he has a unfair preference towards killer, if he really plays both sides, why he nevers talk about survivor problems? Oh, cause he's biased!"
As I said earlier, you're misusing the word bias. He isn't biased by definition.
Having a preference towards one side and being bias are two different things. One of the differences being whether the preference is fair or unfair, of which I think he has quite a few fair reasons as to why. If you disagree then tell me why, because I can list quite a lot of reasons as to why it is fair.
I already answered your question about him mentioning survivor problems above. He does mention them, there just aren't as many and they aren't as much of an issue with the games current balance.
I disagree about the SWF assumption he always makes, I mean lately I’ve watched games where he mentions the survivors are in the top 1% of the 1% and it’s clear to anyone who has more than 50 hours they aren’t.

His assessments seem generally pretty fair and analytical imo.
Most streamers play all survivor or like 90/10 survivor killer split and claim it’s because it’s “easier to interact playing survivor.” Well no #########, it’s the easier role.
Im amazed at how much Tofu and Otz can carry on conversation while playing killer... I would literally miss everything if I tried to read chat while chasing people.

This is an important question too, I think it should go down over time but not on a monthly basis as that's far too often. @Peanits can you answer this question too? Is there going to be some mechanism in place to lower your MMR over time so you don't come back after a long time facing the same elo you were when you were playing often?
It goes down if you lose. So if you win a bunch then start facing really strong teams and they all escape it will go back down

ALSO Survivor A gets really good with say the ONI, but not a nurse. how will the game decide to match them? will they be seeing more ONI's than anything else? this is something I just thought of.
thought not specifically about a mmr reset but it's something to think about
Yeah I don’t like that part of it, I am an above average but great killer. That being said I will absolutely dominate any new or “bad,” players. Yeah but if you have a high mmr it will probably make the queues longer. I think it should reset only a % of your total MMR, so you don't end up with new players.
I don’t think they’ve ever stated it resets at all. Generally MMR resets through seasons on other games but those can be 3-12 months apart. If it’s monthly reset and I rortate killers like I do now I’ll never be “high MMR,” meaning I will be going against potatoe survivors teams

This challenge is another great example for bad design of some challenges.
At first you could earn not much for finishing that quest. But you have to play a lot of games for it:
- don’t die early
- not all teammates die
- all gens have to be done, so more than one/you can escape through the exitgates
- don‘t be alone at one exitgate so the killer can force you to leave early
- other survivors have to leave
- hope they don’t have the same challenge
- in case of just two survivors alive hope the other guy don’t camp the hatch
So much stuff for a single challenge...
Yep, this one needs saved for last, slapped on and just get it eventually through skill and luck

Because there isn't a version of the challenge on level 4.
Apologies and THANK YOU!!!

Both versions are not that bad because you can get them done in multiple trials, but I can see how they'd be really annoying if multiple teammates are trying to get them or you have teammates that wait at the gates to taunt the Killer or go back in to make sure everyone escapes.
Time to run Blood warden... Ha ha ha ha ha

BHVR refuse to show SWFs their pre or post lobby... it is easy to do but they would show that it isn't SWF that way.
But of course it is and thats why they don't show it or attempt to balance it by debuffing their coordination speed XD
They should show it only endgame, yes that means if as a killer I recognize those same four players name later I can dodge them. You know what that means, SWF is unbalanced!
A side effect would be shutting up a lot of killers who whine they always lose to SWF and make them realize half the time the team is solo or at most a 2-man SWF. I get insulted at least once a day for being on SWF despite 100% solo play. Just because I unhook someone and then bodyblock on the way out to prevent you from tunneling them doesn’t mean we’re SWF, it means we know how to counter bad killers.

Not only that; but if you get other people that also need the challenge.. then its just sitting at the exit gate playing chicken.

Such a silly challenge. To add to what you said, what if multiple people in the same game are wanting to complete the challenge?! Only ONE person is gonna be able to get it (if no one dies!), will prob have situations with people pointing at the exit gate until EGC finally forces them all out... or kills them. So silly.
Edit: After reading some comments, at least you can progress through it via multiple games. Hallelujah.
This is why I avoid any “weird,” survivor challenges at the start of each level. I get done the ones for completing gens or being chased, things that just happen naturally. After a week or so people are playing Norma again so I can usually get them done pretty easily.

That looks like level 3 not 4

I think most people are misunderstanding, this isn't just in one trial, it's multiple trials, you could get it in one game, you could get it in multiple, this is so far from being a disgusting challenge, imagine just being in the exit gate and someone leaves before you, easy point towards the challenge, lol.
Most likely the last tier will be in a single trial, judging from how prior Tomes advanced.

Solo is rough, I won’t dispute that. What I will say is I doubt you’re going against as many SWF kill squads as you think... review your gameplay I’m guessing it isn’t as efficient as could be
