Disagree, I believe fallout 4 was great from both gameplay and story. not the most modern engine, but I consider it one of the best games I have ever played.
Eh. They really jumped the shark with the whole Institute imo. I'm aware it was set up in 3 but it went a bit far for my tastes. Then theres the mountain of retcons. And the voiced protagonist. Dear god why.
It was barely an RPG. It was a loot shooter with RPG elements. That said the base shooter gameplay was actually up to the standard of the times unlike 3/NV. But NV had better wapon/designs and builds as a whole. I'm getting worked up over how good NV is again.

Because I hate this decision and how it hurts people that play the game I'm gonna list the codes I have gotten so far. I will update/edit this with new codes as I get them.
"Sweetdreams" - Candy Bucket Charm
"Eternalblight" - Pumpkin Charm
Enjoy! And play the game you paid for - dont feel forced to watch others play the game! <3
Nice of you. Thank you. Shame this is even a thing considering the way the devs have gone back and forth with exclusivety.
First they're fine, than not unless its legacy (im fine with early adopters getting a 'thank you', myself). Than its fine again (Timed Rift and these charms).
Have some consistency guys.
-
I bought the previous rifts. They acted like they responded to them being grindy but they didn't. They acted like they understood why people didn't like some of the rewards but nothing changed. Theyt acknowledged how ######### it is that all these rewards are timed but previous rifts still can't be purchased or played because they're relying on predatory business practises to sell Rift passes.
I'll only buy this one if I somehow make it to level 70 by the end, but outside of playing the Blight when I'm in the mood for killer (which isn't very often anymore) I highly doubt that will be the case.
Consistent terrible killer releases and out of touch balance changes have pushed me further and further from this game as of late.
I feel like I'm drifting away from this game after nearly 4 years which makes me sad.

They only did that because there wasn't a store.
It's telling that chapter prices stayed the same but we just stopped getting those though, isn't it?
-
Poor corporation.
-
I was excited to jump back in after a week or so off but the Rift is extremely underwhelming and repetitive already.
The rewards do not interest me in the slightest. ooh a slightly different shade of green wraith/hag cosmetic awesome.
The most underwhelming mid chapter patch they've ever released with some extremely bizarre perk changes. (Discordance/Pop "reworked" but DS still the same. What? Also a complete afterthought addition to an already overused perk WGLF)
I'll give them credit for not making pustulas as gamebreaking this time thanks to them being tied to challenges. But yeah. This sucks.
Hopefully the next killer is another BLight and not a DISASTER that gets boring after 2 games like Pyramid Head or Deathslinger. If so I may have to take another extended break to preserve my love for the game.

The issue is that this was basically the only viable strategy that made him more than an M1 killer in most circumstances. Sure, you can land the occasional cool hit through a wall or something, depending on add-ons/perks and whether or not the survivor is predictable (or has poor reaction times) but most of the time your power is just unusable trash. People waited for "guaranteed hits" at windows/pallets because using it elsewhere was just a way to help the survivor gain distance.
The cooldown is the absolute dumbest part of his power to change. Who cares if you can use it more often? It has an ENORMOUS telegraph! You have to put your sword in the ground, wait for the meter to fill up, you turn SUPER slow so the survivor knows exactly where your attack will land, then there's a red danger zone alert before the power activates as a last chance warning to the survivor, and finally the power comes out in segments, so the farther away you are, the longer it takes for the damage to actually land. So the survivor who is at the edge of your power has more time to react.
And I'm not saying this as someone who wants "survivors to run into hooks" or whatever nonsense someone above was on about. PH was the first killer I got to 50, but I haven't touched him since because he's so boring. This change doesn't fix the fact that he's boring, it just means he's boring AND less capable in a chase. I'll stick with Blight. PH needed his ability to come out faster, or be wider, or maybe have it turn sort of chain-connect with your trails so they become damage zones (in the same staggered, segmented way the power currently works) rewarding you for clever placement and planning.
Instead, it's the most lazy and least interesting change they could have made.
He'll still be "okay," because even the Clown is "okay," there are no killers that straight up can't get kills right now, but he won't be fun. And every killer should be fun. I'll take a fun killer over a strong killer every day of the weak, unfortunately PH is neither and Blight is both, so Blighty boy it is!
This is why I think his design around his projectile sucks and he needs a rework. But if it ever happens its a long time away.
-
I did not think it possible to make such a crap, niche perk worse but here we are.

"get a gauranteed low effort hit at every loop"
Yeah, the current playstyle of "get a gauranteed low effort escape at every loop" is so much better for the game. Ez baby killers.
Eh. It's a controversial take around here, a lot of killers here seem to just want survivors to run straight to hooks, but I'm of the belief that if a killer is going to be strong enough to easily counter most if not all loops (the main and only real defence of the survivors) they need either a high skill floor and higher ceiling or some major drawbacks.
Blight is a great example, as is Nurse, Huntress and (old) Billy. Deathslinger would count if he didnt have zero map pressure.
Pyramid Head requires very little if any mechanical skill outside of basic timing and doesn't have the drawback of movement speed (or didnt before now). Than theres the fact that he can outright deny the strongest survivor perks in the game.
I personally found Pyramid to be the most boring killer ever added to this game, which broke my heart because SH2 is in my top 5 best games ever.
-
They've made it pretty clear they don't want PH's entire playstyle to be "get a gauranteed low effort hit at every loop". The PTB slowdown on pulling out the sword was so minimal that it didnt affect it at all. It makes sense to slow him further.
And he's now actually rewarded more for getting hits with the shorter cooldown. That said I haven't played him myself yet (gonna try tomorrow) but the general consensus seems to be that this was a buff overall. At least for PHs that didnt rely on the free "50/50 but not really" hits.
Personally I'd like him to reach a point where using the projectile outside of free hits was actually viable to shake things up and make him less braindead.. I'm hoping that may be the case.
-
Theres people out there who got accidentaly granted 20,000 or more cells from the first rift that were never removed. I'd just use them.

This. It probably won't change anyones opinion for or against him in any major way, however.
He's still shockingly dull to play power wise and I don't think many survivors are going to have a change of heart VS his playstyle.

I'm not saying this will happen, or that I'm right, or even that I want this. So they could get Jason in dead by daylight through the never hike alone and never hike in the snow short movies as one was made this year so copyright isn't affecting it. What would you think of that? Assuming I'm right about that.
The reason those movies were allowed to exist is due to them being non-profit fan films. That said if they wanted to they could have easily DMCAd them.
-
Chances are they'll have their own seperate premium only rift or something. Hopefully not timed. Wanted this for a while.

If not being able to see scratch marks because the low FOV literally gets blocked by grass is a intended design choice that wouldn't even surprise me at this point.
These devs have made some of the most questionable design changes and "bug fixes" I've ever seen in any online game I've ever played.
Remember insta flashlights? Remember risk free flashlight/pallet saves that could land at any point in the animation, including locker grabs? "Bug fixes"
Now the Huntress notification is being changed and called a "bug fix" nearly two years after someone (I believe Horvath or someone else on a Q/A stream) said it was an intended design choice.
Also like to add that his FOV is a good 2 feet lower than his eyes in his rist person model. Things he can visibly see over/is taller than in 3RD person are above the top of the screen in 1ST.

Let me fix it for you. Swing 0.1 seconds later.
You are welcome.
I'm talking more in situations around loops where the survivor has just enough distance to make it with dead hard but not without. Where a lunge would usually get the hit.
You're welcome. :)
-
bruh dont think I didnt see that "20st"
-
Davids perks have always clearly been designed to bait the killer into chases or dropping chases with another survivor for you so it would make sense. DeadHard is basically a free health state on demand ( in the hands of a decent looper) that can be reused. I've probably lost more games to it than any other perk.
However, they are both teachables and combining them would remove one of davids perks which is a no-no.
-
The whole "BUT HE CAN 1 HIT DOWN" arguament is laughable when anyone with a brain can loop a safe pallet with another tile nearby for upwards of 30 seconds and thats not counting a long wall window spawn or the shack nearby.

It wasn't that bad. You just spent the first 2 minutes running around the map looking for the petals and then play normally again. I'm actually disappointed they didn't do it last year.
In my experience every survivor fought over who got what then immediately killed themselves on the hook to get into another game faster. It was extremely poorly thought out.
Imo event should never be more than gens/hooks at the most it should be like those crowns and if they are keep that crap in a seperate mode.

These are things I've heard so take them with a grain of salt. If these end up happening well, I guess you can read the title of this post.
1: Halloween skins will not be earnable, instead they will have to be bought.
2: There is no difference from the last event. Same as always, just a slight bloodpoint boost.
3: The new survivor add on can be used whenever the player wants after the event has ended, but the killer is limited to during the event ONLY. (Devs, your bias is showing)
If there are any I missed then this event will be a bigger joke than I thought.
The last hallowed blight with the Pustulas was a completely unplayable shitshow so I'm amazed they've decided to ruin the game for serious players for 2 weeks again. With less incentive this time.

Now I am not saying that everyone should follow my example rather this is more of me sharing my experience. You ever have those games were those survivors want to screw over their team members (of course unless the deserve it but that is for another time). Let me list those scenarios that I myself punish them if they do it.
1. Farming off the hook near killer (regardless of borrowed time and decisive)
2. Bodyblocking their pals (unless they deserve it in which case I would not know since I would be the killer)
3. Purposely blowing skill checks and exposing their team member (revealing their location or bringing me straight to them)
These are the reasons I would go out of the way to kill that said person. I could care less about getting a 4man or even aiming to rank one. I punish those survivors for playing like that, I surely don't want to have players like these in the communities.
I apologize to all the new players who may feel disheartened by this. This thread specifically is pointing to those who are well experienced (I would say around 800hrs or more).
Yeah same here. If you go out of your way to screw over another survivor I'll give them an intentional look to let them know then kill the other person.

Everyone here is definitely under rating Lightborn. It's a niche perk that still honestly doesn't deserve to be taken over other perks, but if you see a lobby with 4 flashlight Claudettes, it seems like a no brainer pick.
I don't think much of anyone will ask for a Lightborn nerf but I personally think it would be interesting if they buffed the Odd Bulb add on to be the only add on that worked against Lightborn (not as if they didn't have Lightborn- just as if they had old Lightborn). It's a crappy add on that doesn't deserve the iridescent status it currently has LMAO
4 flashlights is already a free win because they're
A. Going to forgo gens to try for flashlight saves which is free map pressure
B. Going to go for pallet blinds which are pointless if you have headphones anyway.
-
It's pretty rare to go against a 4 man swf especially one that makes the game near unplayable. I'd opt in just for extra BP or Devotion XP. Only about 5% of red rank SWFs are good enough to outright deny the killer kills.
-
Nurse definitely takes the most physical skill and a very high knowledge of tiles/maps and survivor habits. Same with Blight but a slightly lesser level of timing.
I'd say to play Trapper and Hag at high level/good survivors you really need to have a lot of knowledge of how survivors loop and be creative/unpredictable with your traps.
Huntress also takes a long time to get good with but is carried Slightly by impossible hits through certain objects/angles because of the Hatchet hitbox. Though it also works against her.

Ok, I know, I know, you've seen this argued before.
But here me out:
Can we get rid of Ebony Mori's and only have the green and yellow mori and Devour Hope? At least with Devour they actually have to work for the killer whereas with the Ebony Mori you literally hook them, and chase them again just to kill them as soon as they get off hook.
In MY opinion, I'd much rather be killed by Devour Hope than by an Ebony Mori.
And don't come at me with " It's a totem survivors can get easily", "Survivors have a chance to run away" or " DS saves your from a mori". DS doesn't help if you're already down and not in a locker. And majority of the time you can't make it into a locker.
They'll never remove their function entirely as there's something about achievements on console or something that can't be changed.
That said, I dislike using keys and moris immensely. So I only use them for Rift Challenges. But if I use devour hope and, y'know, earn it. I'll be mori'in all day, baby.

I'm seeing a rise in killers using lightborn whenever they see a flashlight (usually at least too) in the lobby, and with the upcoming tome, it's likely it'll be in the shrine and in challenges, which might easily end up making it the next target to be called overpowered.
If the killer brings Lightborn thats already a small victory for the survivors. That one less Ruin/Undying/Sloppy/NOED/Spirit Fury.
-
I forgot that it didnt tick down while running. Was playing survivor and was blown away by what a non threat it is.
The old BT timer version was fine. Sure, Legion was busted at launch but they should have fixed the chase mechanics over making it worthless
-
Even if you dont use comms just knowing what type of playstyle your teammates are focused on or what perks they#re using makes the game so much more enjoyable for surv.
-
I really hope they thought this through. That event was awful. Unplayable solo survivor because no one did objectives, just fought over who got the goo first then killed themselves on the hook.
A boring steamrolling every game as killer because you had ruin (now ruin and undying) aswell as a sub objectife you had to commit too to complete the challenges.
-
You one of those "STOP RESISTING MY MURDER ATTEMPT" types? Looping is pretty much the only thing survivors have outside of certain perks.

4 years that this kind of RNG exist and for what?
How many times has this been asked to be changed?
Everytime you pay the devs for a skin (whether it’s .50 cents or a whopping $15) you continue to tell them that this is okay.
I've spawned in the shack with a hex totem inside multiple times recently. I swear they made the change a year or two ago where that shouldnt happen anymore.

HOnestly I can only ever see him being remotely viable with EW1 either being removed or having normal speed AND the old no detection perks thing. His early game sucks and his EW3 is so easy to loops nowadays.
Onis limited power is easier to earn and also has way, WAY more you can do with it.

I got bored of him a long time ago. Decent killer and theres a surprising amount to learn with certain map layouts for optimal mobility but hes just kinda basic. Also I thought if I heard that chainsaw anymore in my ear I'd go insane. He also feels really awkward and janky since they changed his animations. His movement feels stiff and awkward.

I mean otz played plague with a nasty build and won and tried again but jt didn't pan out. He won with PH one match and lost another I believe and he also won with Wraith I think. I mean it's was arguably the best killer there.
I don't know if you watched that PH match but those survivors were downright terrible. They weren't even looking behind them in a chase. Same with the Wraith team. The second he tried to play a non meta killer against a good team he got decimated (no disrespect to Otz as he's one of the best non-nurse players out there). I do respect that he actually tried to stray from the meta though. I knew he was probably doomed but it was nice to see him try something other than Spirit/Nurse.

I haven't played against one in a pretty long time. A good Hag is very scary especially the scroll-wheel insta teleport Hags.
Bad Hags makes the game dull by trapping hooks/gens but a good Hag is truly terrifying as a solo. Unfortunately she gets kneecapped pretty hard by SWF. Yo can wait for a buddy to be in a chase and just run through all the nearby pallet loops to bait her away from the chase or destroy her mobility long term.
Personally I feel like Maps and Flashlights shouldn't have any effect on her traps.

No gens speeds aren't. As long as 3 people can work on one gen and get it halfway by 1 hook that days something
If 3 survivors are on 1 gen thats 2 other gens not being worked on. they get diminishing returns for 3 players. Optimal survivors would never work on the same gen unless its the last one they need.
-
Those killer difficulty ratings have never made sense to me. I assume its based around just going for the adept achievement.
-
I don't expect it to ever work well. There's just too many variables from both sides. 1 or 2 survivor perks that can completely reverse a game for the killer.
1 or 2 killer perks that can pop up at the last second and deny you an escape and get you killed.
Killers add ons like Iridiscent Head and Survivor Instaheals/Stypics that can buy a survivor another 30+ seconds of chase time that could lose you multiple gens.
Heck, pallet spawns. Sometimes a Blood Lodge will have around 6 safe pallet loops in the center of the map aswell as all the loops aorund the edge. Other times it'll be a hill, empty space with trucks and 1 pallet if that.
That picture alone tells me that DS will probably bust the hell out of this ranking system by boosting survivors with escapes they otherwise wouldn't earn. Same situation with NOED I'm sure.
Then there's Keys/Moris.
Willl players get punished by the system because a killer hid nearby and tunneled off hook to mori/a survivor brought or found a key and 2 players escaped out the hatch that the killer had no way of stopping?

Interesting that you see the problem but not the obvious solution (its not Genspeed by the way).
The perfect map in Dead by Daylight is Coal Tower. Its small, but it has a lot to work with. Its fair for both sides, killer have the pressure, both sides get a lot of chases, and survivor have loops and stuff to hide. Whats so complicated to duplicate that concept? Why do we even need maps like Mothers dwelling which are gigantic and not very exciting to play?
This. Outside of toolboxes/Prove thyself gen speeds are completely fine.
It's map sizes and linked tiles and survivors that literally spawn on a generator that are the problem.
I've seen Jungle gyms with long wall vaults leading into shack widows where the shack door leads into a long pallet loop with no LOS breaker spawn regularly on Farm/Asylum maps. Then there's breakable walls where outside of a single breakable wall on 1 map, are direct buffs for survivor in every way.
Also agreed. Coal Tower is probably my favorite map for killer.
-
I just find him boring because he can only really be played one way. There's no reason to ever use the projectile outside of a guaranteed hit. It's too punishing. It's too easy to see coming and not worth the cooldown.
Conversly, I find going for only guaranteed hits at pallets or vaults to also be mind numbingly dull. Very flowchart and by the numbers.
He's a very, very boring killer and it blows my mind that this is the same team that designed characters like Oni, Blight and Billy or Plague.
Than there's going against him. You just loop him like always until he gets the free hit because there's no additional way to play against him, if you try anything different you'll just get hit sooner than you would with the slightly less optimal looping.
Why would a Pyramid with half a brain throw out projectiles if you can dodge them easily. Most other killers who have some form of counter to pallets/vaults have an additional mechanic or something that gives the survivor some sort of counterplay. They didn't add any new opportunitys for survivors they just took existing ones away.
He's like Deathslinger. Strong in a chase and crap in pressure. They literally incentivised tunneling off hook with him with the way cages work. They're well aware its the bare minimum he needs to do against a good team to have a chance at winning.
The pinnacle of Pyramids skill ceiling is literally "Ok he's gonna drop it this time I'll drop my sword and if he doesn't I'll get the lunge". Because there's no way to play him at a higher level. He's too limited by his power.
What's worse is that SH2 is one of my fav games ever. I literally screamed "NO ######### WAY" when I recognised Heather's jacket in that reveal trailer and it blew my mind. This game has made me kinda hate Pyramid Head more than any forced appearances in other Silent Hill games ever could.

He’s not the worst, but compared to similar killers like Oni or Ghost Face he just has too many unnecessary drawbacks.
I really love his power design and I think he could easily be helped with some small tweaks. I imagine they’ll re-visit him before too long though and hopefully give him some small buffs. If they can do for him what they did for Bubba (keeping the spirit of his power the same, just stronger), he’ll be in a much better place.
I truly believe that Evil Within 1 is just outdated and should be removed. If Micheal could jump right into 115% and not have to waste time on that first level he could become a force to be reckoned with again.
