Before I turned off messages pretty often. I will body block at exits, take hits for injured teammates, sabotage hooks, pretty much do alot of stuff that killers tend to only associate with SWF. I tend to pay attention and adjust my play based on what my teammates are doing, if I get paired with others that know what they're doing can come across as swf but really we're just clicking. I've seen killers say "only swf will sabotage hook for teammate or flashlight save, solos don't" but I've had both happen more times than I can count. I suck with flashlights so if I find one I'll give it to a Teammate who then saves me with it later. I've also given toolboxes to teammates when I'm on last hook and they've then sabotaged the hook giving me extra shot at escaping.

I'd give Trapper a little assistant to run around collecting all the random closed traps around the map for the Trapper. Also some metal ankle braces for when Trapper steps in his own traps.

Happy Holidays to all of you from a constantly exhausted shark! This year has been hard on everyone, everyone has lost something this year, but I hope just for a little bit we can finally sit down and just relax and enjoy the simple things.
We may not get to spend the holidays with family in person, I certainly know I can't go to the usual festivities of my family which always were very big (and exhausting and stressful), but technology has come so far that we can sit down and talk through other means. Enjoy each others company in new ways, have a nice cup of tea/coffee/cacao, whatever floats your boat. Treat yourself with a nice meal. Spend some hours with no technology, read a book, light some candles (before you go to bed, please make sure to blow them out!).
The other option is to ofc play a game that happens to allow you to hang people up on a hook. That option is also available, for sure. π¦π¦π¦
Have a shark whale hug:

Then the 3/4 of the team are kind of taking the game hostage themselves, together with the killer.
The 1/4 should rethink to swf with them again, when they decide against using the only means to avoid a dc penalty for the 1/4.
But hey pls stop quoting me. You obviously want to find all the blame for this 30+ minute game in the killer. While I say, yes the killer is a dick and can/should be reported BUT the people in his swf are also at fault for dragging it out and you want to ignore the second point.
Edit: Feel free to.do otherwise but I will chose to ignore you and let you enjyz having the last say in this looping discussion.

Well actually the other guy does have a point. Technically, if you just go along with the rules the other 3 members of the swf are also reportable for not continuing the game. It's arguably also holding the game hostage. If we didn't know it was a SWF working together it could just as easily be survivors working with a killer to trap some1until they DC, which has happened in the past. Of course, the killer is also in trouble depending on the situation. It doesn't matter if "everyone" not including the killer considers it fine, especially if the group is a SWF.
In terms of the spirit of the rules, the other ppl in the swf are probably fine, since it sounds like the Wraith body blocked from mid game and not near end game.
Mod in this post responded saying the swf didn't take game hostage, the killer took the game hostage and is the one to be reported.

it doesn't matter what people think, the devs themselves have SAID it is a secondary objective, you saying it is an "optional objective" but the devs who designed the game said it's a secondary therefor it is a secondary objective in the game. it has been stated this way since the inception of the hex perks. you could say hooking survivors is a secondary objective but the devs have stated the TWO objectives of the killers is to sacrifce/kill the survivors and defend generators. if the killer ignores either one of those objectives then you will "loose" the game.
NOED:
you forgot the 5th case: Survivors Cleanse as they go, get gens done, take 5 totems down killer had noed, but because the survivors were smart about the totems and didn't just go searching for totems but did them as they came across them or marked their location to return later (if being chased) then they get gens done, totems down and exit gates powered and open all 4 get out scott free maybe some hooks or if bad mistakes get made loose someone, but the point here is as I say get them as you run across them, get them down or know where to go look later. why is this such a hard thing for people to do? I'll tell you because for many players it's lets get the gens done, and then get out for the next game that'll take 10 minutes to get and only get 10-15K when you could have easily had 20-25K points more fun and still get out.... but nope it's all about the 5 minute game with 10-15K then 10 minute wait for a 5 minute 10-15K again....great thing I love not doing anything and getting less points because of people wishing to speed through a game, I'd wager many of these do speed runs of games like RE4 or other things.
UNDYING:
what you call bad design is your ideas of what you would have done is supposedly better than what is there. you are not the one making the game and though they value input you do not ultimately have control. again you talk about how totems is a waste of time, but again even in your example you have the right of it till you get people going down rapid fire. but lets look at undying/haunted grounds:
this gives you 3 instances of haunted grounds, and you had a dull you passed up and cleanse the first glowing totem, you find that it's haunted grounds (always GREAT to get out of the way early instead when there are only 3 gens left), you quickly go back (away from the explosion) to the dull to see if it's lit and you see it lit, well now it's time to cleanse the second haunted ground because instead of getting 1 minute out of the other it's 10-30 seconds when you pop the second one, now you know three totems are left, and all are lit.... if people are paying attention, they should realize at this time even if the killer brought noed it would never trigger because the remaining totems already have a hex on them and you don't need to cleanse them what so ever. Think about that one for a minute and you'll see the logic here... and here is how I know this works: I was on yamaoka homestead and as i went along through the match I cleansed 3 totems, (dull) and did 2 gens. as I was running from the killer (want to say billy or clown can't remember) I saw a single glowing totem, I marked it and as we'd have 4 hooks and no sign of huntress lullaby or devour or even ruin I considered for a moment it was the hex to make it slower to cleanse, alert when a hex totem is on and give blood points (can't remember) so I paid it no mind, then near the end of the match 4 of us still alive I found a second LIT totem! well that made me say NOPE! don't touch!!! turns out the killer had noed as well but since 3 were down, 2 lit noed didn't trigger and blamo we got out. same thing for your haunted grounds example for undying. the point is not to give the killer full time with their perks but as survivor make it so their perk is some what wasted.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1833007#Comment_1833007
again you assume ONE person is locating the totems. I am not talking about one person doing it, the survivors are supposed to be a TEAM so it's in EVERYONE's best interest to share the work load. you complain about survivors not doing gens, well I complain about people not trying to do totems! why? because if each survivor were to take down a single totem and then one takes down two they end up being done in no time and people still do gens. that's great but everyone tries to say one person has to take them down, I say everyone takes their share down. I do, I will cleanse ANY AND ALL totems I come across, but unless there is a need I do not go hunting for all the totems.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1833058#Comment_1833058
damn straight! good for you! and I honestly say that because you know what? I'm glad others do think like I do!
14 seconds for easy 1000 BP and goes towards getting rid of killer perk. To me it's a no brainer to cleanse any I come across, especially since I know if I'm 1-hit at the end 99% of the time the randoms will leave instead of looking for the totem and saving me. Totems are ridiculously easy to find too if you've played the game enough, definitely by time you've reached devotion 1 - there's only a handful of spawn points on each map and they're all pretty predictable.
-
I like the sound cues because they give the killers bit of personality. I'd be sad if pigs couldn't roar at me anymore, especially the ones that spam for a boop. It'd also make the match way too quiet/boring.
-
I had a match on Badham, I was solo and everyone was red rank. At beginning of match a teammate was hooked, another teammate nearby was being chased, I was on my way to unhook teammate, and during this time the 4th teammate completed gen that's in the basement of a house. Rest of match I cleansed 4 totems between working on gens, chases, and saves. Last gen gets completed and NOED activates, teammate that completed that first gen gets downed and camped in the basement - this was her first hook all match. I go looking for 5th totem. As hooked teammate hits 2nd stage I find the totem, right next to the generator she finished at start of the match in the basement of the house. By time I cleanse it I don't have time to make it to her across the map so I start opening the nearby exit, other teammates show up at door as her time runs out. She died on first hook at end of match because she ignored the dull totem that was right next to her.
I always find it funny that killer mains will post screenshots of dull totems out in the open and how bad the spawn is. I can't help but laugh because most survivors will ignore that totem only to run by it multiple times in a match showing the killer their aura with Undying or it will be the NOED totem that screws them over later on. π
-
I don't think it should be only factor of matchmaking but it should have some part. Someone that's devotion 1 with plenty of red/purple add ons and full purple load out shouldn't be playing with people that are JUST picking up the game, they should be bumped to rank 16 and not allowed to drop below it. New players need some sort of protection from players that purposely stay low rank for easy matches.
-
I think if you have recovered to find help and still haven't been hooked you should be able to speed up bleed out timer. Total hook time is 2 minutes and you can speed that up. Bleed out lasts 4 minutes, you should be able to speed that up rather than waste time with killers that just slug.

My go to is Kate followed by Zarina. Started as Meg but now not so much because killers seem to really hate her. π I was going to main Ash but killers seem to love tunneling him out of games.

So the killer gets to do scummy things to the survivor and gets away scott free. Seems fair
Mods have said on other posts where killer has body blocked someone for an entire match that it is reportable, they just need to submit a ticket with video proof.

Take video, at end report him, then go here to submit ticket for supplemental player report and provide the video.

Iβd rather they make it be βhold X to give upβ - that way you can end it quickly if you want to give a teammate a chance for the hatch, but thereβs no confusion for new players, and lag spikes or input errors donβt kill people by accident.
This. I can't count the number of times fps drops from one of many triggers have killed me on hook and made me miss skill checks so replace mashing with skill checks wouldn't help. A hold x to give up would be so much better.

No more EGC challenges for either side.

I wish they had actual competition to push them to be better. The whole "these games were competition and they beat them" is not good, it just makes BHVR think that their current practice of "passing it on/looking into it" and pushing out buggy messes is OK. They need a game that is actual competition where neither is "beating" the other but rather pushing eachother to keep putting out a quality product and put plenty of resources into game health to clear up and prevent bugs as well as optimize the older platforms/low end pcs.

This is a necessity in red ranks. Killers in red rank are very good at what they do and wasting time = team wipe. There is no time to cleanse totems most of the time, especially if you're fighting a strong killer like Freddy, Oni, etc.
I'm in red ranks, there's plenty of time to cleanse totems unless the killer is applying a ton of pressure but those killers don't need NOED anyway - they'll have a 4k long before last gen is completed. Considering totems a waste of time and not including cleansing them in survivor strategy is what makes NOED more powerful than it should be.
-
You could start running Bond to see what your teammates are doing. Use it to find them and follow them around until they start helping out.
-
NOED has been used a bunch in red ranks for awhile, it's why players are constantly complaining about it and wanting it nerfed. As long as survivors ignore totems when there isn't an obvious Hex totem killers will run NOED. Red rank survivors are the worst when it comes to doing totems, many find doing them waste of time and will "go find the totem if NOED activates."
-
I'm fine with it. Tbh I'd be fine with them giving away all the rift cosmetics a year after the rift completes (I've completed every rift) because I'm not a fan of cosmetics being "exclusive." Those that can/want to grind for early access can do so, those that don't mind waiting don't have to stress about trying to complete the rift while also trying to have life outside a single video game.
-
Log in reward instead of the limited codes. If they want to do limited codes to help streamers it should be limited time not limited use and ONLY be for things that are not exclusives (DwightCrow or Fruitcake charms) instead do Bloodpoints or Iridescent Shards - something that if people get they are happy but if they miss out won't be upset.

I just hate the camping and mega slugging. The fact that Victor can down someone and zoom all the way across the map to down someone else, go back to the first person and down a third, then sit under the nearest hook while you hook them and go play M1 killer for a bit? Sure, a SWF can do something about that by just sticking in pairs, but solo's?
Edit: You know, props to all the twins that don't do that.
This. It's also frustrating that survivors don't receive any points for being in chase with Victor. You can be downed by Victor and then camped to get as few points as possible in a match making it not feel worth it at all.

@Almo said:
It's up to Survivors to punish camping. When I camp, if nobody comes for the rescue, I stop because I'm losing ground. But when they come running, even if they don't rush the hook and just hang around and they're not repairing while the one on the hook is dying, I'm still profiting.
It is true that the Emblem system does not look favorably upon camping... but the best way to stop it to not to reward it.
I know all the arguments and counter arguments about it; I've heard them over and over. :)
One of DbD's core values is "player agency". We want players to have as much input on what happens in matches as possible. Eliminating camping as a strategy removes choice from both the Killer and the Survivors; it limits gameplay possibilities. Deciding to do gens instead of rescuing the one being camped is a moral decision: choosing the good of the many over the good of the one. Sometimes, the Survivors choose the good of the one over the good of the many; when they do, they often suffer dire consequences. But all of that arises from player choice.
I will not say "camping is good gameplay in DbD" as many construe my comments to mean. But the possibility, the choice leading to it, and the choices it requires Survivors to make are all part of what makes the game great: player agency. Removing those choices only reduces the range of decisions to make, which isn't good in the long run.
We have experimented extensively with anti-camping measures. In the end, the result was always that the camper just camped harder, or we had to break fundamental systems to accomodate the anti-camping measure.
Characters like the Twins encourage camping as a strategy, killers can both camp and chase survivors from gens. It removes choices from survivors - if they try to focus on gens the killer will send one twin after them (which the survivors receive no points for a chase if Victor) and if they go for save killer will switch back to either prevent the save or tunnel after the unhook. You have both rewarded the killer for camping and limited the survivors choices/ability to punish the killer for camping. You say you don't want to eliminate camping because it removes choices while introducing a character that removes those choices.

I've had a bunch of teammates block me in when I'm cleansing a totem lately. Like, it's happening 2-3 times in a few hours. And that's happened more than once. I DC every time and just go play another game. I'm not waiting to play a game that bans me from playing. Meanwhile, we have queues that are sometimes 20 minutes long. But hey, keep banning people from playing the game, devs.
I hate when that happens. They really need to put something in that if you are blocked by another survivor/killer for certain amount of time you can just move through them.
-
Had this happen as Ghostface on PS4. I think the survivor got stuck because they weren't moving after they dropped it. I had to down and move them away before I was able to break the pallet.
-
Last month rank reset for survivor I was reset twice. I ended as rank 4, on rank reset day I was bumped to 5, played bunch of matches and at end of session was rank 6, next time I logged in I was rank 9 because it decided to reset my rank again.
-
No HUD again. Feel bad for the randoms I'm paired with because I'm pretty much useless aside from being chased by killer or unhooking. Can't heal or work gens efficiently because I can't see the skill checks, can only guess and hope I'll hit it when I hear the sound go off.
-
I wish firecrackers were regularly on the blood web. They're way more fun than flashlights.
-
The extra week is great. PS4 and the new Xbox both missed out on playing time due to the game being unplayable until patches were pushed through. Completing the rift has nothing to do with who worked the hardest, it takes 0 skill to complete. Completing the rift just takes time, those that already completed it just have more free time for video games than those that have not.
-
I hope they leave the charms there π
-
I was mori'd by a Devour Hope without being hooked today. I wish it had required me to be hooked. π

6 months later and this is still an issue for me on PS4, it happens about twice a month as survivor. Here are screenshots from match I just had with no HUD.

When I first found out what button points I would randomly do it ALL the time to killers. One time I did it not knowing a random teammate was where I was pointing and the killer caught them. They were definitely pissed and tried to get the killer to go after me the rest of the match when they were alive. π

I'm guessing to have Blight go with Halloween. He only had 2 challenges and then there were the 3 Pustula challenges. It felt very thrown in like "oh yeah, we released a killer that we've teased during Halloween and this rift starts during Halloween." π

If it's just those that unhook themselves that's pretty rough with tome challenge on level 4 that requires unhooking self with Deliverance. Also, if it only effects those that unhook themselves hopefully the devs will look into Ebony along with Ivory.
