  • On PS4, I have it off. My wait times for either side are pretty quick. Performance with it on just felt so much worse than normal and as survivor felt like teammates didnt want to help those on other platforms so it was alot of left on first hook to die unless I had another ps4 player in my lobby.

  • Rift is over so casuals aren't playing until next one since grind causes burn out.

  • Definitely give advantage as both killer and survivor.

As survivor: Stealth killers you will hear their footsteps/breathing - this has saved me a ton. Easier to pinpoint direction killers are coming from. Easier to hear teammates nearby that are injured. Easier to find gens that have been started on indoor maps.

As killer: Hear grass movements or survivors breathing that are trying to hide Better hear and pinpoint injured survivors, survivors cleansing a totem, survivors working in gen, squeak of locker from survivor entering/exiting.

from the way you described this

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2144444#Comment_2144444

you need to use a wired internet connection. anything else you will continue to have this problem.

I know IT, i understand you didnt do this because the process, and distance SUCK. Trust me. Its a PAIN in the butt to get it setup correctly. But you need to do it correctly otherwise the same thing will continue to happen, until you do

I do use a wired internet connection. I don't use WiFi on my ps4. I've used a wired internet connection for years on my ps4 since before DBD because I play other online games.

Console Online Play(& downloading) and wireless internet do not jive together. At all. This I guarantee you is the problem. Console manufacturers do not put the best stuff in their console, to keep the price down for consumers. Wireless receivers are the ones that get hit the hardest.

I would HIGHLY recommend you play with a wired connection if at all possible.

I only play wired in, have done that since before I started playing DBD.

While I disagree with most of your post, you bring up a valid point about the cache, often overlooked on console. I'll address that.

Since on Xbox1 you cannot go into settings or options to empty the cache out, we have to play with the power cords and power button to do it.

    1. Press power button to turn the console off.

    2. Unplug power cord from back of console and from the outlet. Must do both. Wait 1min.

    3. Plug back in power cord. Wait 1min. Power on console.

The original Xbox1 gives a tiny white light to indicate cache is clear. My Xbox1x and the S won't indicate shyttt unfortunately.

A quick Google search will give the steps for our PlayStation and Switch cousins.

Clearing cache didn't do anything to improve my performance for ps4. I've had several situations where I've had to do what would clear the cache (power off/remove cord) without trying to clear the cache. I moved so cord was not plugged into ps4 while it was packed up and my husband had to use cord for his ps4 few times when his was misplaced in move - these situations should've cleared the cache. I was still getting fps drops from triggers in the game.

Performance on PS4 is better if you turn crossplay off? Is that a fact? Gonna try that out today, really curious

Better compared to crossplay turned on but you'll still have performance issues. Just don't want you turning it off and thinking it completely fixes performance because it doesn't.

  • During the match I usually do quick checks at doors while going between gens/unhooks because alot of trapper's will out down those two traps around 2 gens left - disarming will distract Trapper from gens. If I know they're in chase with last survivor who is on death hook I'll go disarm the traps while they're in chase - Trapper will then need to decide to commit to chase or go back and reset the traps, same for deciding to hook remaining survivor or retrap gates first.

  • I'd rather they just remove gamertags entirely and give everyone a dbd ID that you see at end game screen for reporting. No name in lobby, in game say survivor 1-4, end game have it say what the dbd ID is for each survivor. No more lobby dodging because see gamertag you recognize, no more players names showing up on streams, no more ridiculous long names on HUD, no more confusion on what to do with crossplay reporting names.

If I don't turn off cross play I will get frame drops.

For killer if a survivor uses an exhaustion perk.

For survivor if the killer uses sloppy butcher, franklin's, or plays as freddy, and huntress with any of the status effect addons. If another survivor searches a chest while you are on the hook it will sacrifice you.

The game feels so much worse with crossplay on. Way more lags/freezes. I think that's part of the reason why wait times aren't bad as either side with crossplay off on ps4, so many turned it off because performance is even worse with it on.

  • In previous Q&A they've said they know that the dailies tend to be more killer sided and they'd work on a fix. That was some time ago, it doesn't seem to be a priority to fix.

  • I've had this happen when a skill check pops up at same time gen finishes. It's weird timing bug.

  • While Steam will allow achievements to be adjusted Sony and Microsoft won't let devs change achievements as long as they are possible to complete. While difficult it is still possible to get the trophy - farming killer after rest of team DCs/hook suicides or having one gen almost complete as last survivor is sacrificed and completing it once animation is over/before killer closes hatch.

  • Any of the perks from last 3 chapters since I don't have those characters or care to get their perks. Aside from Adept or archive challenges majority of the teachable perks I've never bothered using.

Hmmmm I thought that was fixed I'll have to pay more attention next trip to that realm...

I did too which is why the FPS drop stuck out for me while playing survivor. Maybe some other trigger happened that I didn't realize at time but only noticeable thing was hearing the chest pop open. Was playing against a Trapper so not like it was Doctor or Freddy that come with triggers for FPS drops.

The only thing they did was fixing the FPS drop when someone loots a chest but the updates after that brought new ones in (Hooking and Unhooking survivors, icons appearing on your screen for the first time e.g Prove Thyself or Leader).

    So yeah,we're still at 0 😧

I had FPS drop when I was near someone looting a chest the other day on one of the Crotus Prenn maps. When it happened I was like "wait #########, I thought that was fixed?" No one was injured, I had no status effects pop up, and no totems had been cleansed nearby - I heard chest open and the FPS dropped. πŸ˜”

  • During PTB for Blight and Trickster I saw pc players that used controllers say they were not good for those that use controllers to play. Not only does it suck for everyone on console but also a portion of those that use controllers on pc for accessibility reasons. They just need to spend like 10 minutes trying the killers out on controller to see they don't play well because it doesn't take long for pc players on controller during ptb to see the issues the killers have for those using controllers and give feedback in ptb section of forum.

So far as I have been able to tell, they have been radio silent for quite some time.

The last update we got was something along the lines of "we are working on it, no updates to report."

If they acknowledge this post it will just be a "we'll pass it on to the team" or "we're working on it." When asked in Q&A it's "we're working on it, if you notice it feels better it's because we fixed something." Just very vague brush off responses that don't really give any real information. When they tell players to see if they notice anything performance wise feels better after patch but not what supposed improvement was it is kind of like the whole not saying release date of patches so if it doesn't come out on the schedule that has a precedent they previously acknowledged they can say "we never gave a date so you can't complain it's late" - can't complain parts of performance don't feel better after patch if they didn't officially say they improved performance in the patch.

It's really strange because I don't encounter those freezes on PS4. Yeah Sloppy Butcher is a problem and some other things causes drops, bet never second+ long freezes. Maybe it's something they have trouble replicating as well.

It's definitely something they 100% need to address. I don't expect the game to run at a perfect 60 or anything but if people are encountering full-on stutters (and frequently at that), that's just unacceptable.

I experience the FPS drops on my original ps4, my swf teammate is on ps4 pro and also experiences them. The Pulsar and OniWantsYourMacaroni videos is the same for me when I'm playing. No other game I play has these issues.

  • All the non-horror and younger audience stuff on the survey makes me think DBD is going to start being adjusted to have a lower rating to bring in more/younger players since they tend to have more disposable income.

  • Breakdown was never permanent, the original perk description was just missing how long it lasted (which has happened many times with perk descriptions missing info) . Look back at 2018 comments of when Jeff was coming out, people didn't know length because it wasn't written in original description but others were confirming it lasts for 3 minutes. I read through Chains of Hate patch notes, did not see 1 mention of Breakdown in there.

*edit to add* If you do go back and look at the comments from when Jeff was coming out it's funny to see the concern people had with Breakdown being 3 minutes with sabo squad is same they have with it being permanent with sabo squad. Saw some say it should be nerfed to less than a minute because at 3 minutes perk too OP and will be meta.

Would it be 2019 flashbacks since iirc the sabo changes happened with Slinger's release in 2020?

Hooks came back in 2019, just took longer than it does now. 2016 if you sabotaged a hook it'd be gone for the match.

  • Someone tweeted this and others agreed to join in and do same starting on 4/23.

  • I don't have video but as a ps4 player I'm pretty tired of the FPS drops when playing killer or survivor. The fact I can tell a killer is running sloppy butcher because my game freezes when someone gets hit across the map is terrible. It's only getting worse too, new triggers for fps drops are popping up each patch while old triggers don't get fixed.

The lack of communication on performance, just vague responses ("we passed it on to the team" or "we'll look into it" or "we won't specify what we fixed, just see if you notice improvements after updates") is why when I finally get a ps5 I won't bother installing DBD. Not bothering installing a 5 year old game that is poorly optimized and there's no indication it will receive any optimization. I've seen ps5 and Xbox series x players start mentioning performance issues after last couple patches, only matter of time before back in same boat because performance isn't a top priority.

Last DLC I bought was Silent Hill, I stopped putting money into the game because I'm not seeing it be used to make the game better. My husband, brother and nephew all used to play and buy every DLC - my husband and nephew have completely stopped playing, my brother still plays but has stopped buying DLC. At this point for us to consider buying DLC again we would have to see some real improvements to performance on ps4, no more empty promises.

Ah right, his typical killer victim complex is putting things as they are: how do you know it's not a priority? Maybe figuring out what caused it isn't as easy considering they didn't even touch hooks or that perk since the patch the bug appeared in. Remember the hill bug where survivors would get stuck? How long did it take to fix that? Three weeks/a month? Or right now the pallet bug which is NOT fixed. But these are survivors bugs right, so even though they're not fixed yet he doesn't mention them because they don't fit his victim complex

So here it is again, whenever space coconut says something:

    https://streamable.com/f1ws78

Another bug was uncleansable totem bug, first on Lery's and then Coldwind. Both took months to fix. Those maps were never disabled, no one was banned for running NOED since it'd be guaranteed dull totem by end of match or other hex totems that couldn't be cleansed if spawned there.

  • There were alot of non-horror options in that section. Guessing DBD moving away from horror and going to just add anything. πŸ˜‚

This felt that such a weird and pointless survey lol why would it matter what we think about the Tricksters name?! Your not going to change it lol

Kinda funny how perks like Sloppy Butcher are pretty much chase perks against console players like us 🀣

Also a location perk, freeze during skill check and you know which gens are being worked on. πŸ˜‚

For me I've tried to see the bright side.

If my fps drops as someone gets hit I know automatically one of the killers perks.

    Sloppy butcher.

Whenever my swf teammate gets hit across the map and my game freezes I go "killer has sloppy butcher?" and answer is always "yep." πŸ˜‚

  • Console players listed a bunch of the triggers for FPS drops for both killer and survivor in this now closed post https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/187573/console-optimization#latest. Since that post those triggers still exist and new ones have popped up in patches. There are players here who have posted videos where you can see the FPS drops from the triggers. We've gotten vague brush off responses like "we'll pass it on to the team", "we'll look into it", and my new favorite "we won't tell you what we fixed for performance but after a patch if you notice an improvement it's because we fixed something."

  • Flashlights remove Hag traps, burn away Wraith invisibility, force Nurse into fatigue when charging blink, cancel Legion Feral Frenzy, and removes Spirits husk while phasing. Victor is just another killer power that can be countered by flashlights.

  • It's a bug, been around for awhile. It's wicked annoying.

  • It'd be nice if there was a "skip animation" option for the dying survivor. Still play it in game but let the survivor load into the end game screen instead of sitting there watching an animation.

  • _20210422_162235.JPG

Connect 4 idea because of this yesterday? πŸ˜‚

  • Sometimes before a ptb or live release I consider making a bingo card just to see how quickly it'll get filled out.

  • They'll put in ptb. Killer mains will say it's not nerfed enough, survivor mains will say it's nerfed way too much. It'll release to live with no changes from ptb. Killer mains will continue saying it needs stronger nerf and survivor mains will say it's completely useless.

  • Preventing a survivor from being able to participate in the game by blocking them in a corner for extended time is considered griefing and is reportable/bannable. The mods have said this multiple times that if you body block a player in the corner for the match where they cannot move you can be reported and banned. It's nice this survivor said it was fine but the next survivor may not and can send video down if you are body blocking them in corners.

    _20210422_155046.JPG _20210422_155101.JPG _20210422_155123.JPG _20210422_155138.JPG

  • Some days I feel like I'm the best player ever and others I wonder how I even safety pip with the dumb moves I make. πŸ˜‚

  • I think they should just skip pre-match lobby entirely. When you ready up to look for a match, once a lobby would be full everyone loads into the match instead of second lobby.

  • Mostly thinking they're there for a tome or daily challenge. Followed by a "this shouldn't be a bad match." If I see teammates get downed quickly changes to "wait, do we have a good Nurse???" 😲

  • They're busy playing connect 4 on Twitter with Smite people. πŸ˜‚

  • Shorts were on a rift, they've been adding rift cosmetics to the store so I'm sure the outfit with the shorts will be added to the store eventually.

  • I tried it out but it drained the battery on my phone like it was nothing. Also took up a ton of space on my phone.

  • I've definitely screamed when I turn a corner into a Mikey not expecting it. Doesn't happen often but has happened handful of times. Scream followed by laughing that gets me killed. πŸ˜‚

Trapper on certain older maps that have ground covering I get anxious walking around worried I'll step in a trap. Reworked and indoor maps not so much, those I can usually see traps from mile away - if I step in a trap on those maps it's from not paying attention in a chase.

    That's about it for scared/anxious.

  • When splitting up don't do gens right next to each other/same side of map. Skip a gen so not a 3 gen. If you're being a gen jockey, same thing - don't do gen right next to one you finished, your going to cause a 3 gen.

  • I stop working on the gen before the killer picks up the survivor. Usually killers don't run both thrilling and BBQ so I just hop back on the gen once it stops being blocked.

  • Maps aren't that big so there's only so many spots a totem can spawn, if you play enough remembering spawn locations isn't hard so checking for hex totems doesn't take long as long as you don't get stuck in a chase. If they add more hiding spots for totems that will give survivors more spots to hide/loop.

Not all hexes should be well hidden, Haunted Grounds you want survivors to find and cleanse it. A survivor spawning on HG at start and cleansing it can give a killer a quick down (or more) at start of match.

They could add a perk similar to corrupt intervention for hex totems. I'd even be OK with corrupt getting a buff to include hex totems. This way totems can't be cleansed immediately at start of match.

Another option is remove the lit feature from a hex totem, at very least have it only appear lit once the cleanse bar reaches 50%. Having the hex totems appear to be dull would make survivors not pick/choose which totems they will cleanse which would take them off gens longer if they need to cleanse a Ruin or Devour Hope - usually they'll just run around ignoring dull until they find the lit totem. Most survivors will ignore a dull totem that is right next to a gen because they "don't want to waste time" so making all totems appear dull will have them second guess ignoring totems to focus on gens.

They could also add an offering to increase totems. If all totems appear dull this would increase the totems survivors need to cleanse to find the hex. Allow survivors to have this offering as well, would help survivors trying to complete rift challenges.

One thing I've noticed is so many Killers check on their hex totems, most times at start of match. This has lead me to what would've been a well hidden, or atleast out of the way, totem. If you're a killer that checks on their totems maybe run Thrill of the Hunt instead of checking on totem yourself, I know you want to try to catch survivors in middle of cleansing them but your more likely to be leading them to your totems.
