  • the maps are much better now, but I'm still not a fan of them. I do like Grim Pantry more than Pale Rose.
The worst map as killer though is hands down rotten fields for me.

  • I really enjoy the map

  • what the hell?

  • That's weird. My lobbies are always filling in almost instantly. I'm only rank 6 at the moment though.
I'm really curious to know if it's only because the matchmaking is bugged or if there aren't enough survivors playing the game. I could definitely understand the latter since survivors still have to deal with crap like camping and tunneling.

    Gen Rush.

Gen rush hasn't been a thing since BNP's were removed, and even then they were rare.
I don't see why a negative connotation has to be put on survivors for doing their objective.
I think gen times are just fine right now.

Gen rush means survivors just rushing gens as effectively as possible, ignoring everything else. It's still a thing.
When people talk about gen rush, I'm pretty sure they are not blaming survivors for only focusing on their main objective. It's the most logical thing to do for survivors. It's just about how fast all 5 generators can be repaired if survivors rush gens as effectively and organized as possible. And it is indeed still a bit of a problem unless you are running Hex: Ruin. Survivors can repair gens so fast that the killer has pretty much no time to have a chance of fulfilling their objective (except for Nurse). At least playing normally.
It's more of a design problem though. As seen in the videos of tru3ta1ent, it is indeed possible to win against even an extremely well organized survivor team without Hex: Ruin, but the way he had to play didn't lool like much fun for either him nor the survivors.
Gen times are as much of a problem as camping, tunneling and the gap between swf and solo survivors. Although I'd argue camping right now is the biggest design flaw of the game.

If so many people have stopped playing survivors just because the game has become more balanced now, than that's truly sad. Just because survivor is challenging now as well shouldn't make survivors quit the game. How laughable.

I still believe that if anything it's not the balance that causes this but the frustrations caused by the design of the game survivors have to deal with that killer mains just think are totally fine and don't need changing, the main offender here being camping. If you get camped multiple games in a row, that's no fun, and might push you to take a break from the game. People who don't understand how unfun getting camped is clearly play much more killer than survivor, and it's starting to make me go insane how people think camping is totally fair and fine and then complain that gen rush is an impossible thing to deal with and needs nerfing asap.

My lobbies however almost always filled up instantly, at least in the evening, after the big balance patch, sometime after the event. The long lobby times just started now with the new patch again. Now tell me exactly what in this patch could have made survivors finally quit the game? If anything this patch was ever so slightly survivor sided, which is a good thing of course.

You say that but many survivor mains are saying it's no fun and you barely get any blood points

But what's not fun? Not being able to get easy wins constantly because of being overpowered? Or what exactly?
The blood point gain I can understand but the problem is that survivors get to keep their items. People shouldn't be able to use ultra rare addons every match. I do agree that the blood point gain of survivors should be looked in to though, and then maybe making items and addons of higher rarity appear slightly less frequently in Bloodwebs just because survivors can keep their items.

  • Honestly what you describe here sounds like it's caused by lag. At least your problem with the pallets.
But you do know you have to run I believe 2.5 meters straight to the vault in order to fast vault?

  • I'm a killer main but I personally don't get bothered by it. Sometimes survivors just wait there to give you some more hits against them so you can gain more bloodpoints. This community can be very toxic, but honestly I don't believe that most of them do that just to provoke you. Same as T-bagging. Don't take it personally. It's just for fun often. You know teasing, but not in a mean way.
Obviously some people like to stay at the exit gates and/or T-bag just to provoke and bully you, probably to feel better about themselfes. But personally I think a lot of them don't do it to just be toxic, they do it just for fun.
Some people tend to take this game to seriously.

However if you are talking about survivors that loop you endlessly even after the exit gates are open, than that's something different. They might just want to farm more points off of you, but many do that to just be toxic and prove they are superior to you in the game. For what ever reason, it's not like being good in a video game is something to be too proud off.
Pretty sure that's holding the game hostage though, and is bannable.

I think they just didn't realize what advantages swf survivors could potentially gain if they'd choose so via communication. I mean communication gives you information that can only be provided to solo survivors via perks. The fact that perks like Kindred and Bond exist shows that the devs did not think of the advantages swf survivors would have. So pretty much swf survivors have extra perk slots they can use for certain perks like Kindred and Bond. I mean you can't deny the advantage swf survivors have over solo survivors thanks to communication or?

On the other hand, It's nice to see other people agree that this game indeed is in a good spot right now balancing wise, considering the balance gap between solo and swf survivors. And I do believe the balance gap between solo and swf survivors isn't as big as some say, it's just that certain advantages can make swf teams a bit more effective, and more importantly, swf is just easier than solo. You can still do pretty much or almost as good as swf survivors playing solo survivor, it's just harder and requires more skill in general.

I also 100% agree that this game is not competitive. I mean sure it has ranks and can be played competitive, that's totally fine, it's just a shame some people take the game so serious. Playing it competitively is fine, but it's just not meant to be a competitive game in general. Mario Kart games would be another nice example of this. There's a lot of rng that goes into deciding which side wins, and the sheer fact that add ons of such different power levels exists in this game is proof that it's not a competitive game, and never was meant to be, I'm sure of that. And I personally don't mind that at all. I enjoy both solo survivor and killer a lot, so I hope whatever the devs do they are careful with upcoming balancing changes.

I agree on the most part, but I'm someone who has never dodged lobbies as a killer for any reason and I've never really thought "this team absolutely wrecked me because they're SWF". I just really don't think it's as powerful as people claim it to be. That and the fact the people always talk about SWF as if every match is a 4 Man when they're mostly 2/2-Mans who aren't talking to each other and can only really "benefit" one other person in the game.

i'm just sick of people talking about SWF as if every match they encounter HAS TO BE a 4 man SWF, it couldn't simply be 4 survivors that are just better than the killer.

Yeah understandable. I never dodged a swf group as well, I don't even stay in the lobby to see if survivors spawn together or not, I couldn't care less. I did have games though were I got gen rushed so bad that the game was over in like 3 minutes. Obviously I didn't play optimally, but it did feel like there was nothing I could have done as a killer to prevent a loss against those teams, and it did feel like they were insanely organized because of voice comms. Like some matches can be insane, at least with killers who aren't able to apply a lot of map pressure.

But yeah I can safely say that I get those kind of games maybe once in a hundred games, which is something I can live with, and even then, if I would have played as optimally as they did I probably would have gotten at least one kill.

Personally, while I do believe gen rush is still a bit of a problem, what drives me a bit crazy is when people want a gen rush nerf so bad but then think problems like camping is totally fine and survivors just need to "deal" with it.

I personally don't understand either side. The side that says killers are still far underpowered, except maybe for Nurse, and can't deal with half of the swf groups they face. Pretty much every game I lost as Clown up until now was also due to me making some stupid mistakes, I'm sure of that.
But then there's also the other side that says killer is so "ez" now and survivor is impossible to play. I find both sides to be challenging now, which is a nice thing. Killer can still be a bit more stressful cause you're playing against time and mistakes can be more detremental to you as a killer, but I still find both sides equally enjoyable. I find this game so enjoyable after the last patch. In fact, even as a killer main I can safely say the biggest frustration people have to deal with right now in this game is not gen rush but getting camped. I'd much rather get gen rushed by the most organized 4 man swf team ever than get camped by some killer, watching my character on the hook bleeding out until he dies.

  • I think if the devs ever want to balance the game optimally, they need to buff solo survivors by giving them at least the main advantages that swf survivors have. Kindred Tier 3 with a bigger radius for the killers aura and Bond Tier 3 come immediately to mind. If these were implemented into the base kit of survivors, than that would already improve the balancing of the game so much. Of course, killers would than need to be balanced around survivors with these new advantages, which would probably mean having to buff most killers to the level of Spirit or Hillbilly. I think then we'd have a great fundament from which the game can then be balanced much more effectively and fairer, pleasing killers, swf and solo survivors alike.

The game isn't casual, there are ranks, even if the game mode doesn't actually have a name, it's still ranked alright and players ranking up and deranking all the time - so do go saying the game is casual when clearly it's competitive. Even if some people play it more casually, that doesn't make it any less competitive. For the record competitive and casual don't mix well, and quite clearly there are both types of players playing in the same mode because they don't have any other mode.

SWF groups with VoIP does break the intended balance. The game was never intended to have SWF in it, and players weren't intended to be able to communicate. So it does upset the balance quite a lot.

    The game is 100% casual.

    Moris = Easy wins
    Iridescent Heads = Easy Wins
    Insta Heals = Easy Chase

If you're going to claim this game is competitive when it has those things in then you're beyond reason.

When one of the most effective tactics is running around and slugging everyone there is no competition, when you can add insta downs to a lot of the killers there is no "competitiveness" to that.

The game is casual, the ranks are reset every month, and there's no incentive to be at rank 1.

    ITS CASUAL.

Also as for the "SWF was never intended"

    Is this bait?
    Because this looks like bait.

Solo survivor has never been easier. I really don't understand what you are implying.

Oh and I'd say that we'll see more complaints about camping killers. Just a side effect when you nerf a perk that reduces camping.

Killers need to be the weak role... you want a bully simulator or what?

So I'm definitely the last one to complain about survivors being to hard and killer to easy. I believe this game has improved a lot with the latest patches balance wise. But explain to me how survivor is the easiest it's ever been. Survivors have seen multiple nerfs and killers have seen multiple buffs in the latest patches. Survivor definitely isn't nearly as easy as it was a half a year ago.

Also, complaining about camping is totally fine. Of course complaining about killers who camp isn't fair, since they are just using a valid strategy. Problem is that camping is a valid strategy right now, which isn't good game design. Don't you understand how unfun and boring it is to get camped and just stare at a hook until you die as survivor?

  • If so many people have stopped playing survivors just because the game has become more balanced now, than that's truly sad. Just because survivor is challenging now as well shouldn't make survivors quit the game. How laughable.

Maybe it's just to give lockers more of a reason to be used. Lockers can be more risky to use than anything else. I personally like the fact that lockers now have more of a usage.

It does give Iron Maiden more use but 15 seconds is pathetic when all other perks have 60, why give it a crappy 15 second timer? The 4 seconds is ok but the Expose feature is barely usable, either buff it or that it out.

Yeah iron Maiden is pretty weak, I agree on that. Maybe buff the time you are exposed from 15 to 30 seconds.

Or, y'know, as solo, you'd have to quickly friend all your fellow Survivors, pray they accept & then tell them.

    What information?

  • I don't know, problem is that the basement is very frustrating to deal with for survivors as it is. A perk like that at least in my opinion shouldn't be buffed, cause it just supports a play stile that is really frustrating for survivors to deal with.

I don't even mind if survivors got a small buff to stealth personally. I'm just not a fan of the idea that Claudette is even harder to see now too. Stealth should take a bit of skill but with Claudette you can just hide in certain spots and be pretty much invisble, that's not really skillful, anyone could do that. Not a fan of skins impacting gameplay that much.

Do you honestly see that many Claudettes? I casually play Claudette and I'm Tier 2 with her purple wavy hair. I like her backstory, she's awesome.
Most of the time I play with Megs, Neas, and white jacket Davids.

No, at least I don't see her more frequently than other survivors. Still, I just feel it's not good when certain skins can give you such a gameplay advantage.

    Every. Game. Has. Them.
From Call of Duty, to Metal Gear, to Battlefield.
Stealthy gameplay has cosmetics that help you become even stealthier.
    It's part of the game.

Hmm probably true. Still in my opinion I wish Claudette was changed to be slightly more visible. At least now with the new graphics update. She was already hard to see, it wouldn't be good if she became even harder to see. It's just stealthing with her by just hiding in some spot where she blends in just doesn't take any skill at all.

  • Do you suggest all these changes at once? Or just one of them? because all of them would be way too much, he'd become brokenly overpowered. The problem is that he's not fun to play against. Buffing him any further could easily make him way to frustrating to deal with.

  • Yeah I noticed this too, turned down the volum since I thought the game just increased the general volume for some reason.
I really doubt this was intentional though. Music before the patch was already loud enough, if anything, people wanted it to be quiter.

  • Huh. I personally haven't gotten bored of the game yet because of certain loops. Matches in my experience play out different enough each time for it to be enjoyable.
But I understand why some people might get bored of the game. If maps had more equally safe loops and no overly safe loop for survivors that could solve the problem.

People need to give the devs a break though. They did well with so many of the killer designs before, and they are forced to constantly think of new ideas for the killer. So I can understand why'd they screw up a killer once.
With that said, I 100% agree with you on this post. Exactly why I always knew they couldn't buff him in any considerable way. Your post perfectly summarizes what's wrong with The Legion and why he can't be fixed. Guess we have to just move on and hope for a better killer design next time.

The only way to make Legion viable without making survivors quit the game is to rework him. He needs a rework more urgently than Freddy, sadly.

No, we do not, because so many of us in the community have been providing tons of valuable feedback, both before, during and after the PTBs, but instead of taking what we say seriously, they take it with "a grain of salt" and put their own twist on it. Quite many, including me said several times that the legion really needs a rework and should not be released as is. When we voice our concerns, like for instance during a Q&A we all know what Cote will say, we should all go play some civilization for a refreshing change, because that is exactly how seriously he takes our concerns - like not at all. Who's the same one who thinks the killers should be fun and don't need to be viable. So once they actually begin to take our concerns serously, then we can begin to cut them some slack. As I've said before, they should not release content that is not balanced or not ready to be released, because it wrecks all kinds of havoc in doing so. You say they did well with so many killers before, well that certainly depends on perspective, and instead of actually fixing the issues they apply bandaid solutions.

Reworking a killer takes time, they can't just snap with the finger every time they want to add a new change to a killer. There's a lot of work that goes into designing a killer, and they also have a timed schedule. As far as I know, the next killer is scheduled for March, so they need to start working on that killer as well.
Also, I'm pretty sure the devs listened to the community, but it's not that easy to create a perfectly balanced killer. Most suggestions were bad if you ask me, and they probably came to the same conclusion.
Being unhappy about the killer and voicing your opinion is totally fine. I just don't get how some people can be so dramatic about it, it's a freaking playable character in a video game. I've seen enough people say that the devs only care about survivors again because of the newest patch, which is ridiculous considering the big amount of buffs killers have received with the last patches.

  • I just think that this will make him to frustrating to deal with. Look at this post here:
    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/34584/by-design-legion-is-the-universally-least-fun-killer-in-the-game#latest

It perfectly explains why Legion can't really be buffed any further, and why his design is so problematic. I think survivors would go crazy if they constantly had to heal again and again, in addition to repairing gens, while at the same time not being able to affect the chase against Legion in any way.

While I like the idea of a killer having abilities of survivors, I too think that this killer isn't very well designed. Things like that can happen though, let's just hope the next killer is better designed.

I agree, it can happen that you end up with a design thats bad where you may not immediately realize this, but when you do, you should get back to the drawing board instead of proceeding with releasing it. They were fully aware of the design and balance issues before release and they had EVERY opportunity to postpone the release, and quite frankly I'd rather they do that than they release something thats quite obviously a blatant rehashed reuse of the spirits power (a ripoff), with a few additions and alterations, but not only that, it's very poorly executed and has so many balance issues that makes it even worse than Freddy. And it's not like they weren't told how to actually fix it, because the majority of the people who participated in the PTB provided tons of feedback along with suggestions on how to specifically fix both the legion and the deep wound mechanic. But what do they do? They release the killer with a few minor tweaks that doesn't accomplish anything in regards to the issues, they're still very much there and it's the same way people deal with them. The only thing I'm hoping for is the BHVR begins to realize exactly how important it is to listen to the community and not take everything said with "a grain of salt", and not twist things around but instead use whats being suggested more as is, and the same with the mindset that killers don't need to be viable just fun - that certainly needs to change too, because competitive viability is extremely important in a competitive game, because otherwise high rank play will remain incredibly stale and boring because most killers aren't designed to be viable in high rank play. But as I said, BHVR were fully aware that this design was bad and yet they released it - which also says something about BHVR.

I'm sorry but most suggestions I read on the forums were terrible. They would just overbuff him and make him the by far most hated killer. Then he'd just be the killer to reduce the amount of survivor players even more. They would have to redesign his whole Frenzy ability before they could make him viable.
Also I can imagine that they didn't realise his big balancing problems before they released him on PTB. Designing a fun killer isn't that easy, I'm pretty sure. And after the ptb release they wouldn't have had enough time to totally redesign his entire ability before the official release. I'm guessing they've also already started to work on the next killer, since they are trying to follow their roadmap.

But getting 5 Totems to prevent NOED is too difficult. :/ It needs to be easier for Survivors so they can do generators!

I hope that's not actually the excuse why some totems can be so easy to be found.
That's a problem with NOED, and should not affect the totem placement. I do hate NOED to the core, but I don't think that's a fair reason.

  • I agree with your point about Object of Obsession. Survivors in lockers shouldn't be able to read the aura of others, at least of killers. It gives them an unfair advantage, and I believe it was unintended.
Apart from that though I actually like that lockers have been given a bit more of a meaning. i think the buff is fine personally.

  • Honestly as much as I do like this game, and I do believe the devs do a good job with a lot of things, I really can't understand why they include these kind of totem spawns on every new map again and again. I just don't understand what's so hard about having nicely hidden totem spawns in this game. Not having them spawn in the open, next to a generator or next to a spawning survivor can't be that hard and it baffles me that they make the same mistake with every new map.

Actually considering how amazing Spirit is I had full faith they'd make Legion playable after the negative feedback. They've been doing really good lately until now.

Understandable. But I feel Spirit wasn't fundamentally flawed in her design. It was clear that she just needed some buffs to become viable, and that they could do that without her becoming to frustrating to deal with as survivor cause you can still affect the chase against her, unlike Legion.
I think we just have to accept that this new killer won't become viable. I'm disappointed personally, both in the killer and in the new killer perks, but I still think it's extreme what drama some people are pulling off because of this new killer. I mean mistakes happen, and with the many killers already in the game, them having to innovate again and again with every new killer had to lead to a poorly designed killer someday.
A shame really though as I do like the concept of the new killer, just not the execution.

The only way to make Legion viable without making survivors quit the game is to rework him. He needs a rework more urgently than Freddy, sadly.

This post is actually really sad. Like it's totally fine if you don't like the killer. While I like the idea of a killer having abilities of survivors, I too think that this killer isn't very well designed. Things like that can happen though, let's just hope the next killer is better designed.
But calling people that defend and actually like the new killer pathetic, now that's pathetic. Never heard of the word opinion? If they like Legion, that's up to them. Everybody is entitled to their own opinion.

when people's "opinion" is born solely from wanting a free win whenever the killer is picked, is pathetic.

Sure but I'm pretty sure most people who like this killer don't just like him because they can get a free win against him.

  • Maybe because many people haven't downloaded the new patch yet? And more people might be trying the new killer. I noticed this too, in the evening I always got instant matches prior to this patch but today I always had to wait like 5 to 10 minutes.

  • Many people have been saying that the new killer perks are useless, but I do see a lot of potential with Discordance. Never thought of the Discordance plus Tinkerer combination, could actually be quite nice.
I could see Pop Goes the Weasel actually having some use together with Discordance.

  • Yeah i'm also hoping so much that they finally improve the totem spawn locations. And also make sure that survivors can't spawn right next to Hex totems anymore.

  • So nobody actually knows what exactly this change means?

WAIT IS THE VAULTING LIKE IT WAS BEFORE THAT HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE PATCH? OMG IM SO GLAD IF IT IS.

Please tell me what did that horrible patch do?

In the past, it was a lot easier to fast vault than now. Places like shack and twall became a lot more dangerous. I wonder if they made it easier now?

Oh the patch in which healing time was also increased. Still don't see the problem with that, it just helped making certain loops not quite as safe anymore, which is a good thing. Plus fast and medium vaulting became a lot more consistent now.
I heavily doubt that's what that meant though. The fast vault interrupts sound like something else, like doctor's shock therapy interrupting the vault animation. I'm just curious in what way did the patch change that.

Uhm I'm not quite sure if I understood that.

It's good tho, finally the killer has to position himself/bait smart. The speeded up pickup was nearly brain dead, only possible to FL save if the is dumb enuf to see and basically says "Oh, hey nerd. I saw, but I'm picking up in front of you. Try ur luck"

And inversely, the Survivors don't. As usual, Killers are expected to be MLG pros, but Survivors don't need skill.

Killer was always much skillful to play, probably will never change. DbD has two sides, either most likely chill if u play survivor and most likely hard and stressful if u play killer. That's why I can just switch the role if I'm bored of one side without playing and entire different game. But yeah, back to ur topic.
As killer u can still press R if u f-ed up and go for the FL guy. One slugged and one getting chased is some good momentum u can use. Also, this FL buff encourage more survivors to play the "hero" if one mate is hurt, so one survivor (or even more) less on gens. That's why I love to 4 man with FL in the lobby, it's like build in ruin, noone does gens lol.
Btw, dont act like timing the FL requires no skill, it's not like everyone can pull it out

First of all, they didn't increase the time to pickup survivors. People just thought it was increased since Legion's pickup animation is similar to the old one. Second I can pull off a FL save 90% of the time when the opportunity arises. You can learn the timing in a few games. Also the spamming R as killer when picking up a survivor is not intended. I don't think you can get banned for it but if it gets abused it will probably get fixed.

Well I'd hope so. Flash Light saves should require skill, like it is now.

The problem isn't that it would lack skill. It's more that the killer has no chance of countering it. If there was one person with a flashlight, even if scared them off and turned your back, the pickup time was still long enough for the survivor to run around you and flashlight you. If a survivor went down in the open then you had no chance but to slug them.

Yeah that's true. Killers need a way to deal with that given how much a flash light save hurts them.

  • @The_Crusader said:
Yeah I read it. Sure it was in the notes.

Juggling the obsession will be so much fun now. As if you didn't waste enough time juggling before, now their friend can come back and flashlight to save time.

They slower pickup speeds, nerf noed, nerf bbq, yet decisive [BAD WORD] strike still ends up untouched.

Yeah a bit of a shame. I don't mind the other nerfs, just the nerf to the pick up time. I hope it won't be in the actual patch.

Good change, I like it and I'm not the only one who likes it

Have to disagree. Flash Light saves are still possible, you just have to be good at it.
Killers can't always position them so they can't get flash lighted, if they are in the open for example. Survivors can also just hide so the killer has no idea a survivor is there and might blind them. If it's reverted to the old than that would be a shame, since right now it seems fair enough given how much survivors can gain from a flash light save.

I think giving survivors an increased speed for repairing and healing for each dead survivor would be the best way to solve this problem. Like a 40% increased repairing speed for every dead or disconnected survivor, and a 20% increased healing speed for every dead or disconnected survivor. I do feel like this should only be applied once gen rush has been nerfed a bit though.

The problem isn't just for survivors/victims, but also for the killers - it's doublesided issue, as I just mentioned before - "This also illustrates quite well why Killers can be struggling to keep up as more generators are done and less survivors being dead." So if you were giving remaining survivors/victims an increased repairing speed you would just be making it much harder for the killer.

True. Which is why I think a gen rush nerf would be needed in order for something like this to be added.

  • Does that happen often to you? Cause I barely ever experience killers hitting survivors after a fast vault.
It must be a connection issue.
