She either has a power, or hardly has anything due to the RNG and the absolute useless dash attack.

  • I don't agree lol it is uncommon for me to get props for playing the game.

If you don't mind me questioning this - I can see that you changed your opinion on the atmosphere, could you expand on that a little more if you wouldn't mind? I'd be very interested to read your opinion on that.

Pardon the intrusion, but if I may share my opinion on the matter I completely agree with @Yords and @Pukenplag. The atmosphere / ambience was much better in the past, prior to the Realm Beyond. Of course, bringing the Fog back would help, but I don't think it is enough.

An example which shows it pretty well is Disturbed Ward. If we take its original version:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/2OD1EMTLODR1/image.png

We can see how everything looked like. Just by seeing the Fog, the general style of the map... everything looked creepy. You know this isn't natural, you know this mysterious Entity transformed this place into hunting grounds. It looks scary, it looks good.

And if we take its current version, it looks like... an empty wasteland? It doesn't feel right to me. And I believe this exact same idea applies to most, if not all, reworked maps.

Nope, I don't mind at all. I agree with GeneraIV, the older versions of the maps might have had less depth in graphics, but they had atmosphere. Macmillian and its blue tint as a unique feature coupled with everything else just FIT correctly. It all just fitted perfectly together. Now, we still have them, but they have lost their charm, I made a post about it but I mentioned that the maps feel so lifeless. Link to that here:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/244299/the-maps-feel-so-lifeless#latest

Just look at the picture GeneralV posted, compare that image of the crotus penn asylum to the current one. The original is gorgeous, a beautiful place to be murdered at lol. But when you look at the new one, it does objectively look better in terms of graphics, but at the same time it somehow lacks detail (it's hard to explain).

The fog looks weird now as well, the moonlight cannot be changed anymore (I loved using the offerings that messed with it), and it looks cheesy.

What do I think the main problems are? Lack of color, lack of ambience, improper lighting, lack of vegetation, and lack of weather. All the trees look the same, all the grass is a little funky, and the. Look at current autohaven for example, it has the structures done good for the most part, but at the same time they seem out of place somehow because everything else is bland. There isn't really any wind blowing, the little vegetation it has just stays frozen, the clouds in the sky are just there and don't really move, and the lighting just doesn't suit it as it used to since it changed.

I personally think that it is mainly the structures are a big reason everything looks off. The buildings got some changes and do look better, but it's like the main structures (not tiles) of the map got a big upgrade and everything else got shafted.

And I don't mean to come off as rude or having super high expectations of BHVR, but I just miss the old feeling of the maps and would like them back. I also don't mean to sound like a know-it-all either. I mean this is just my opinion and I am not an artist, just someone who enjoys it (this game), I don't know what should and shouldn't be added to the graphics of the game.

So to summarize, the old maps were ALIVE, as they should be considering the super basic lore of the game. The entity creates a real (map) that is literally the exact same as the normal world, your home, but it isn't. The new maps, while they aren't necessarily bad, seem to have failed to give us that feeling. Not to mention it is hard to even enjoy the new graphics with poor optimization, which again thanks for looking into Mandy to see if there is any news on optimization.

So yeah, the old maps fit all together, they all were balanced in terms of everything said above, they had their own little details here and there. The new maps.. not really, they feel almost fake.

  • I would go down there, and look them in the eye as the entity impales them. I would revel in their pain and watch as they are sacrificed to the unknown void of endless and monotonous insanity.

    • Bring out new maps for killers who didn't get their own
    • Bring out new maps in general
    • Optimize the game across all platforms
    • Map balance
    • Killer reworks
    • Perk reworks and buffs
    • A new mechanic or mechanics to the game

And then proceed to deliver half of what is on the list as well as poorly implement them lol jk

  • Then:

    • Fun
    • Scary
    • Good atmosphere
    • Unique
    • Unbalanced as hell

    Now:

    • Fun
    • Still unbalanced as hell
    • Unique

Before the buff/built in j-flick I would put him low A. However after the built in j-flick they gave him that was a substantial buff. I'm still deciding between high A and S at the moment.

I find it quite weird how they're willing to give such a substantial buff to an already strong A tier killer yet we can't get anything significant for killers sitting in the D or F tier. Quite weird priorities.

Yeah that's what I was confused about. Why would they buff an already strong killer who is perfectly fine, but ignore the others for years now?

  • Huntress would crush his neck with her thighs.

    Also, she's Russian.

But he has never faced a russian.

  • And have survivors disconnect every time they get outplayed? No thank you.

  • No, you get zero benefits and only shoot yourself in the foot by doing it. All you get is a little bloody cosmetic and lose everything you had on the character you reset.

Still gonna do it to all my killers tho

  • @Northener1907 said:

Is learning hard? I wanna try him but also i scared. Nurse is already hard and takes my time

Yes he is, he is hard because you have to find all the places where you can use your power, and using it effectively takes time. Especially when there are so many places where he just slides off of on the most recently reworked maps. For example, autohaven shacks, they suck for using his power, you can only hit them head on on on of its 4 corners. You just slide off of it even when running straight.

But it doesn't take too long to get a good feel for him, not nearly as long as nurse.

  • Dead hard would still be powerful even without the iframes.

  • Insta heals, 99 sabo plays, old DS, old BT, pallet vacuums, double pallets, infinites (real ones), insta bind flashlights, nothing good lol except for old billy.

If you go by survivors. I'm a scummy tunneling, slugging, camping POS. Who's entire family should be dead and I should have cancer.

I don't get tilted though. It's only a game and I excel at it far more then I don't.

I started the game far too late. So I don't really care about p3ing everyone with all perks. At this point I'm just building up add ons and items

I have been told relatively the same things, although those comments are much less common the the average "uninstall poop killer"

I wish I could control my emotions 100% of the time when playing this game, I always do really well and then the second the game starts to screw me over everything falls apart.

  • Because then you would buff a perk that allows survivors to be more self-sufficient the entire match. That's why perks such as unbreakable or deliverance are so powerful when they are used, they don't require the team to get help. Before it was nerfed, everyone ran self care because of this exact reason. Why would you ever run a medkit if you could have a perk that is basically a free medkit at all times?

Make sure they have the right things like cake or whatever.

  • I don't think killers are too similar because BHVR has run out of ideas, I think it is because they don't give themselves nearly enough time to develop new content. Look at the twins for example, a fantastic idea that is unique, but very poorly executed. Then literally 3 months later after comes All-kill which would have been good if the killer had a good power that was fun to play against and as. It starts off fun chucking knives at survivors, but it quickly goes away and the killer is terrible. I think 3 months is not exactly ample time to come up with good and fresh content when you still have to fix the chapter before.

  • Did anyone even play them that much before?

And spirit (although for a good reason)

    And freddy

But some killers do the same too:

    • For SWF groups
    • And flashlight squads
    • And "gen rushing"
    • And tbagging

Well this is what happens when the survivor playerbase relies on pallets like they're god's gift, and the devs refuse to make the gameplay not extremely boring by adding new ways to evade the killer.

Well pallets are literally the only other resource they have to evade the killer other than windows so yeah, of course they need to rely on pallets just like killers rely on their power.

  • 4.DS does not need to be base. Tunneling is a valid strategy and the killer should not be punished for it especially since there are times where it is beneficial; it is their only objective and should not be punished for working towards finishing it. We cannot keep using perks as band-aid fixes to game design.

5.Same reason for DS not being base, Camping is a valid strategy and the killer should not be punished for doing their only objective. It also would hardly do anything and only make the game more boring for the hooked survivor.

  • I have bought all the DLC killers, but that's it.

    **I misclicked

  • A few. They all have taken place on the swamp and they somehow were incorporated into the other parts of my dreams (really hard to explain). I remember I was on a tall structure once on the swamp map, but it was 3-4 times higher and I saw the huntress running around below. Really weird stuff lol.

  • Well it is their only objective, so what else do you want them to do? Both sides try to win, I don't see why they shouldn't.

  • New ways to kill survivors? That actually sounds pretty dope. I am now more hyped than before to see what's coming.

*Somehow accidentally deletes DBD because of a bug they created while trying to fix the bugs

    • Map balance reworks
    • Killer reworks
    • Major balance changes
    • New content to the game
    • Maps for killers without one
    • Say "I think we've done a pretty good job so far" to top it all off
  • The last game last night I played against a trapper

He had hooked two people in the basement at shack and trapped the inside part of the window and the two entrances. I synced up to disarm the trap by the pallet side and my teammate got the doorway side. I immediately used sprint burst and rescued the two stuck in the basement with BT. However the Trapper had reset his traps and I had no easy way out, only one of the people I saved managed to escape that basement and the other just ran past him since he was stuck in a trap. I immediately dropped the shack pallet, vaulted, and then landed on a trap... intentionally. The cheryl I had just saved quickly rescued me from the trap and I was able to make a run for it.

It was very intense, quick, and it made me feel like a god. I still died tho, he bloodlusted the hell out of me when I was the last guy left and then proceeded to trash talk me for being good.

  • @Yords said:

Then you must have a very loose definition as to what these two strategies are.

    sure

  • I have had some pretty outlandish insults thrown at me. Salt happens on a daily basis, but holy hell some people have issues lmao. I am sort of glad that I am the one running into them frequently since I can handle a 10 year old telling me that I am a "sexist, trash, and garbage" killer while sending death threats my way. At least they are taking their anger out on me and probably rage quit for a while so they don't mess with anyone else.

  • Yeah, because people playing with their friends must be entitled and toxic.

  • @Yords said:

Pyramid head is not OP, he is definitely manageable and you can win against him just as any other killer. He is definitely fun to play and unique. Although many people don't know what to do when playing against him.

What people hate about him: His punishment of the dammed attack, and the effect of his cages.

His cages are an ability that lets him create a cage that acts almost exactly like a hook except for the two main things it has that a sacrificial hook doesn't. The first unique attribute that the cages have include disabling any survivor and killer perks that have to do with hooking such as pop, BBQ, and devour hope or DS, BT, and WMI. This can allow the Executioner to quickly kill survivors if the survivor team plays poorly.

His POTD attack is an 8-meter long shockwave that can go through walls and only go down elevated ground.

What should you do if someone is caged?

Now obviously, you want to save a caged survivor, but you can't just rush the save or else the Executioner will see you and go to the cage. The person in the cage is in a very precarious position because if the survivors poorly time a save, Pyramid head can easily tunnel that survivor and have a huge impact on the survivor team. You can't save as you would normally from a sacrificial hook, what you need to do is sneak over to the cage and play it stealthy. You have to make sure you save the person in the cage by playing stealthily. If you see that Pyramid head is reasonably close (24-32 meters) to the caged survivor, just wait until he is a bit further. If he tunnels the caged survivor because they were rescued in front of him, the rescuer is at fault.

How do you deal with his POTD attack?

His punishment of the dammed or ranged shockwave attack is hated by most because they are unable to loop as they would normally and they are punished when vaulting or dropping a pallet. The answer would be to drop pallets earlier and leave tiles much sooner. His POTD attack is only useful within a short range of 8 meters at base. If you try to loop him you will take hits that you would have avoided by running away. Try to break LOS and then run to another tile and repeat. Only resort to normal looping when he is too close. If you take a hit, use the speed burst you get from being injured to run. If you do this correctly the Executioner will have to break chase to pressure everyone else.

    Keep in mind:

    • The Executioner does disable perks like BT and DS when caging survivors, but he also limits his use of other killer perks as well.
    • When stepping in his trails, he can see your location through killer instinct for 3 seconds. A lot of newer people seem to forget this.
    • It is not the end of the world if you step in his trail, I see way too many survivors taking a down rather than being tormented. If you feel you need to run through his trail, then go right ahead and run through it. Taking an unnecessary hit or down because you didn't want to be tormented will be worse than actually being tormented.

    lol

  • Survivor sided. The game is much more balanced now than it used to be, but survivors are still extremely powerful. There is a reason only 3 killers are viable in "competitive" play in tournaments for this game. Most of the time, the game is fine. Other times though, you'll wish you never installed this garbage lol, at least if you play a good deal of killer that is. Playing killer is far more frustrating than playing survivor, and stressful.

The best way to find this out is to play killer for an extended amount of time.

  • Ori and the blind forest.

  • They might have forgotten to tell you guys but you are supposed to bring a medkit with this build for it to really work.

  • Unpopular opinion: Most of the time keys aren't even that bad, many people just overreact to them.
