Sounds more like your getting busted by bbq if i read it like that.
Other possibilities are that you may be injured and she has the add on where she sees blood but no scratches.
Or she hears you while you're injured, or even close to you while she phase when you go into a locker.
There's a change she has surveillance and just knows you're there because you work on a gen she kicked.
Imo she doesn't need further nerfs, the only thing they could ad without destroying her ( that's what most people want), is giving her a little animation or sound cue when she starts phasing.
Haven't touched dbd in about 2 months now but I personally haven't seen much spirits when I still played.
As far as I know there haven't been any changes on her, so if there is indeed an increase in spirits then I wonder why.
Could also be an platform specific thing where there are more spirits or region thing.
But there are multiple ways to counter her.
Most important is to remember roughly when she used her powers.
It's a thing many fall for eventhough she literally just used it.
When she uses her power you can run back the exact way you came from, start walking or start walking in a different direction.
When vaulting a window, slow vault back, and the next time you fast vault a window again just walk away from the window as she might think you slow vault back.
Same with pallets.
Run to a pallet but stay at the side you came from and drop it.
She might think you're on the other side and thus waisting time while you run back where you came from.
Drop a pallet and slow vault back over it and choose whatever you want from there.
During a chase in the open and she's phasing, just stop and crouch and continue.
She might think you ran back where you came from.
As soon as she appears again and you haven't had a spot to hide, just start running again.
Those are some of the thinks I use but make sure you stay unpredictable and mix it all up.
You do that and she becomes confused and start second guessing almost everything she does, which leads to her making bad reads and most likely losing the match.
Personally i never understand all the cries about spirit.
I love killers where you need to think outside of the box and have to work for a change to escape.
She's really not that bad and I recommend what I recommend to everyone.
If you have problems with a certain killer, just play multiple matches as that killer in the red and purple ranks.
See how they counter her, learn what her weaknesses are.
That's the best way to fully understand a particular killer. 😉
You can't counter a killer who gives no indication as to when she uses her power. Therefore, any action you do is just a pure guess, not counterplay. Counterplay is reacting to what the opposing team is doing. For example, Huntress pulling up her hatchet. You can react to that.
Spirit gives you nothing to react to. Bad spirit players are why people think she has counterplay.

Which makes her a terribly designed killer. All she is good for is camping.
She is most certainly not only good for camping, she can easily apply pressure to the whole team once people starts stepping into her traps. She just happens to be really good at camping as well.

I see lots of people call Doc OP and it's pretty hilarious.
They are usually people with about 100 hours on the game.

@Sup3rCatTree said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/250269/why-do-people-call-doctor-op
First, Nobody has ever said Doctor was OP. Second, he needs to be changed because of his ability. 99.999% of doctors run Ruin/ Undying and want to slow the game down as much as possible. there are add-ons and perks that make his terror radius literally 72 meters. If he has Clorophobia + Sloppy that can be a nightmare. He just spams his ability and it's annoying because you can't do anything and he gets a free hit every time if he uses it correctly
If he uses his ability correctly, he earns that "free hit".
-
The big buckle is even worse now. Consider changing it to reduce your terror radius by 16 meters when the chainsaw is overheated.

That's a very shity attitude you take in a team based game. There's nothing wrong with keeping a gen 99% for a couple seconds. Less team mates, less chance of escape.
And how exactly would you coordinate this with a solo team? Besides, the odds of you dying to a RBT is very low.
-
***Player with 40 hours detected***
Do not engage.
-
Because unlike spirit nurse still has counterplay and is actually somewhat fun to play against. You can react to what she is doing and there are loads of interactions between the survivors and the killer.
With spirit it is just... borderline nonexistent. Like you guess what she is doing and then you get smacked because she is spirit.
-
I'm pretty sure those are just normal 90 degree flicks.
-
I mean it wouldn't really do anything since a survivor could just use dead hard earlier in a loop so by the time they reach the window or pallet they will be able to use them.
-
Not necessarily OP, but pretty close to it.
It gets so much value for such an easy activation requirement and can be used multiple times by the same person and everyone in the match can have it. It cripples m1 killers and rewards survivors for playing greedy as well as covering up their mistakes.
-
I wonder how long it will take for a dev to notice, if they are even looking at this thread.

I don't think that looping is easy, there are a lot of variables when it comes to playing survivor that I think people overlook. Things like that include knowing what little spots to peek for a second, having proper pathing, knowing how to loop every tile including the weaker ones, knowing how many loops you can get before the killer gets to close, looping against killers with different powers, and knowing what to do when the killer starts to moonwalk.
If looping was braindead easy then most of the playerbase would be considered good at it, but most aren't.
-
It is? It has all the elements of a horror game. I think most people confuse "horror" with only being "scary". While horror can be scary, it doesn't have to be limited to only being scary, shock and disgust are what go into horror as well. For example, you have Hag eating survivors' livers during her mori, people would consider that disgusting. Then you have the stealth killers or killers using perks like tinkerer to get the jump on you, that is shock.
The game is scary when you first start playing it, it becomes far less scary after an extended amount of time.
-
@BrokenSouI said:
Is it really that hard to count to 12 after an unhook...?
In those 12 seconds, a survivor can run up to a maximum of 48 meters therefore making it to almost any safe tile in the map if they have good pathing. So even if you count the seconds the survivor will most likely put a good deal of structures in between you and them.
-
@TGB said:
What was/is DS?
DS = Decisive strike. It used to be a really strong perk that allowed survivors to escape the killers grasp by succeeding a skill check when being picked up by the killer for 60 seconds after being unhooked. It was ridiculously strong but it got nerfed, so now it is disabled when performing certain actions.
-
@Lord_Tony said:
How about buffing mending so survivors are actually likely to get downed from it
right now it's a joke
If you buffed it to down survivors more often it would be OP since there is no counter to feral frenzy against a killer who is even decent.

Maybe play survivor as much as you do killer and you'll find out how prevalent camping and tunneling is.

Yes BUT...
Only if he gets another rework. His power now is relatively the same and still doesn't fix what people didn't like about him to begin with (mainly his passive sleep meter, loaded base kit, and taking little to no skill to play).
If he gets pallets base kit right now it would just make him really annoying to play against.
He needs a power rework that buffs the deadliness of Freddy when survivors are asleep (so yes, fake pallets at base), makes the skill of playing Freddy rely on his ability to keep survivors asleep, and make it a little easier for survivors to stay awake (for example, make it take always take 10-14 seconds for survivors to wake each other up).
-
How is this perk getting nerfed?
-
He thinks she's the baddest, but she is the flatest.
-
If there is one thing this game is, it's random.
But yeah the game used to be scary, and every once in a while it is. Going against a good killer with mediocre teammates is pretty nerve-wracking.
-
It is just not that great, I have also only seen it twice and the last time I saw it was about a month ago.
-
@dbd4life said:
less dead zones and extended time on hooks so solo players wont die too quick to camping killers. simple.
That would make them die even slower therefore wasting more time on hooks meaning that being camped would suck even more especially against leatherface.
-
You have to rework pig, not really just buff her. Her RBTs are RNG reliant and her ambush sucks and is very easy to counter.
Her rework needs to get rid of the RNG aspect to her traps, keep them useful for wasting the survivors' time, and somehow make her ambush useful.
As for her stealth I honestly think it would be fine and could only use a few tweaks. Assuming her rework would be good she shouldn't really have stealth on top of everything else, or just a weaker version of it.
-
@Jasix said:
Pig is weak?? uhh ok.
Yep, her power is incredibly RNG reliant and her ambush ability is way too easy to deal with and is borderline useless most games.

@Blueberry said:
Solo survivor doesn't need buffs. This thought process is treating the bad solo queue experience as the sickness rather than the symptom.
The reason solo queue is frustrating is because we have a poor ranking system, poor rank reset system, and poor matchmaking, which all 3 lead to you getting teammates that are realistically not your rank or the rank it says they're at. IE your whole team may say rank 5 when realistically they're rank 10's or lower. These issues give an unbalanced in skill match up and bad teammates. This is the actually sickness and what needs fixing.
The reason these systems are kept this way is because they cover up the games balance issues. IE putting potatoes mixed in with the good players.
How do we fix this?
Well first we need to fix the problem that keeps the need for these systems in the game which is balance. Once we properly balance from the top down then we no longer have an issue that needs covering. Then we can fix these systems and vastly improve the skill level of teammates you are getting in your solo queue matches.
@ShinobuSK said:
Best solo buff would be fixed matchmaking.
So you will not end up with new teammates vs a veteran killer or vice versa.
Any other buff would make high level swf even stronger and I don't like that unless we also buff some fundamental mechanic for killers to even it out
I guess that makes sense, but BHVR has failed every time they have tried to implement some sort of mmr system. They also don't even tell us what it measures as skill either.
-
She doesn't have counterplay unfortunately, but you can do a few things to make it harder for the average spirit to catch you such as slow vaulting pallets or windows, crouching, and walking when she is phasing (if you are not making noise).
-
so who's gonna tell him?
-
He is just old Wraith but more speedy, so the counterplay is the same.
Positioning, exhaustion perks, and pallets when used correctly can counter most killers including Wraith. This is also under the assumption that he is not using the silent clapper.
Positioning: If he is on you and still cloaked but you are around a safe area, make sure you keep moving in a way that forces him to uncloak and not get the hit quickly. For example let's say you are on the cow tree on the coldwind farm and he is right behind you ready to uncloak, vault the window. If he continues to chase you while cloaked, he will never get the hit as long as you keep your distance and your eye on him. If he uncloaks, then just loop normally since he can't do anything.
Exhaustion perks: Dead hard, lithe, SB, adrenaline, and smash hit are all good perks that can really screw Wraith over. Dead hard in particular really screws him over. These aren't necessarily a counter, just perks that make it really hard for a Wraith to get the initial hits at times. All of them help deprive the Wraith of getting a hit which is pretty crippling at times.
Pallets: If the Wraith starts to get hits on multiple survivors, consider pre dropping pallets instead of risking taking a hit. This will stop his momentum and likely force a good Wraith to just leave while you return to working on a generator.

I think we got everything we need tbh, we just need smarter teammates, and devs can't do anything about that.
Unfortunately those come in short supply, not everyone can play well without kindred in a full solo squad. I think the devs can give solo players a little something to help, not entirely sure what tho.

that actually depends. there are 4 types of swfs. Try-hard death squads, competent swfs, incompetent swfs, and not on comms swfs. incompetent ones and ones on comms are esentially similar to solo q.
Anything besides SWF groups on comms though. If it is a full SWF not using comms, then it is much more fair.

1) Dying to a hardcore basement Bubba is bad luck and not necessary your fault. Ranking and pips are unimportant to these people. They just want to see you suffer.
2) It's just unfun for the tunneled person. Games are meant to be fun.
3) 4min of boredom. Slugging early game is just unnecessary and should not be encouraged. End game slugging is OK.
The general problem is that there will be always be people who play to win. These people will use unfun tactics regardless if you make it unrewarding or not
I should have made this more clear but I mean that if you give a basement bubba more than one kill then it was probably your fault. The person on the hook isn't, just unlucky.
Not every game can be as fun as people would like it to be, this goes for every game. I'm sure there are other valid strategies in other games that people don't like but are not punished. You can't really punish people for playing how they want to.
I don't think slugging at the start of the game is necessary, but I don't think it should be punished either. This can also easily backfire if the killer goes too far with it and the downed survivor is rescued.
It may be unfun, but these strategies are sill valid and should not be punished. Even punishing them wouldn't really stop them either unless you start banning people, but at that point it would just be dumb since you are punishing people for playing a certain way.

I think I'll join in on this.
Here are some of my games to let you know that optimization is not good on PC either. Low framerates are the only thing that happens though, there is no pausing or freezing of the game, just really unsmooth gameplay.
My computer isn't that bad either. Specs:

- 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
