why is it intentional?? survs can switch, killers not? i think this is a totally bullshit, hope they "fix" this, it is really uncomfortable

Survivors can probably still switch despite the MMR-lock because mechanically they are all the same.

  • It was meant to be tested during the midchapter PTB but due to lagging PTB servers the test for server-sided hit validation was postponed. I hope it's gonna be added soon as I think it's another step in the right direction when it comes to fair play on both sides IF them server-sided hits work accurately that is.

That’s how most of this forum wants it though. Killers that get you no matter what with little skill requires on their part

"little skill" ? Have you even played new Bubba (against decent loopers) on a difficult map? They still (nearly) nullify his power by chaining windows (which makes Bamboozle useless as well).

Also timing the charges while chainsawing around loops, corners, through doors and other narrow ways , around and through jungle gyms while avoiding all the tiny, dark edges of weirdly shaped objects requires more mechanical skill than most other killers in the game imo.

There's a reason most Bubbas are failing horribly from what I see and experience. Personally I've beaten all of the new Bubbas as a solo player thus far.

All of them either use up their stacks too quickly or miss the timing window allowing me to loop them around long pallets just like old Bubba OR they bump into something allowing me to get away for free.

Meanwhile all survivors do is hold M1 on a gen granting them their "very skillful" win and in a chase all you do as a survivor is dropping pallets and vaulting windows. Both mechanics are far from skillful and that's coming from someone who posted multiple 5 gen chases on rank 1.

  • Edit: wrong thread oops.

  • On average? Killer - because ALL survivors get to red ranks regardless of their skill.

On the highest level of play (talking about korean 10k hour level of gameplay)? Survivors - not even close.

  • Is that why 360s are so easy all of a sudden? I noticed when killers swing and I spin at the same time my body model will literally slide around them not allowing hits to connect and I wasn't sure if I was just seeing things.

  • Around 8-10 minutes is fairly average to be honest. I killed a "cool toxic twitch streamer who is 1000x better than me" yesterday and after the match he told me to watch the replay so I can see just how much better he is than me.

I watched the replay because I wanted to see just what I did wrong (I 4k'd btw). I ended up watching a few of his matches and quickly realized he usually plays in a 4 man team consisting of players that I recognized by their names (all of them have been playing since 2018).

One particular match that streamer spent more time trying to moonwalk (on console...) than doing gens and his SWF team still finished 4 gens in 3 minutes.

They stopped repairing the 5th gen at 99% because they wanted to spend more time bullying the killer who had given up at that point.

So they spent a few more minutes tbagging in his face clicking their flashlights. After the match it turned out the killer was rank 19 (MMR system).

Long story short: If survivors really dominate the match for whatever reason the match can end in as little as 4 minutes so 8.5 minutes really isn't too crazy.

FPS is worse across all platforms rn

    This.

From what I read and see all platforms are affected since the latest update but for some people the game seems to run just fine according to a few posts which is kinda odd.

Personally I experience all kinds of stutters and freezes throughout my matches (both sides) which messes up my hits (survivors teleport when they 360) or loops (one stutter and you're suddenly not at the loop anymore causing you to go down for free).

Translation. I wanted 4k 100 games in a row without perks and addons

In case you haven't noticed. Rework Bubba is like a new killer and as with any new killer people have to learn the killer's limitations. I've already seen good loopers that destroyed the new Bubba fairly effortlessly. Even Umbra who plays 99.99% killer only looped a new Bubba all game and caused a 4 man escape yesterday.

  • Yupp. The frame drops/stutter is kinda crazy at times since the update. My game literally freezes sometimes for brief moments resulting in lots of missed hits throughout the match.

Survivors seem to blink like Nurse when they 360 haha... I gotta admit I'm jealous of PC players at times like this.

  • Translation: "this killer can't be looped for 5 gens anymore please nerf!"

  • Same here. Choppy as hell on XB1.

Hillybilly is a skillshot and can't change his trajectory much.

Oni would need to be inside his power which requires M1s.

    Nurse can be juked.

Spirit landing a hit on a healthy sprint bursting survivor in phase is unlikely.

Huntress and deathslinger are not instant downs and they are 110 killers.

Wraith and pig cannot catch up with a sprint bursting survivor unless you are very lucky.

Only Bubba can sprint burst after them, and then some, with an easy to land AOE instant down right off the bat.

Bubba has to time his charges perfectly to do this which requires way more skill than just going in a straight line as Hillbilly. Besides survivors are supposed to use that speed boost to get to a window or pallet. The survivor in your clip did NOTHING but run in a straight line. The Asylum has enough god windows that you can easily abuse with 0% skill so everyone who uses the speed boost to run out in the open deserves to get hooked.

Again, that's an arbitrary expectation. Red rank to you means something entirely different to me means something entirely different to a dev means something entirely different to a streamer, and so on and so forth.

There is no defined list that makes a red rank. You get there because you get there. Sometimes your red rank teammates are potatoes and sometimes you become the potato because you're just having a bad game.

We're not gatekeepers. This ain't MLG. No one's getting a million bucks for looping the killer for seven minutes. Don't take the game so seriously and don't expect players to play at your level just because you have the same number/color in the top right corner of the screen.

Why should I hold back, though? If all survivors are around me and refuse to split up allowing me to slug them all - why should I ignore that chance?

  • @Terra92 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1479782#Comment_1479782

Let's not be gatekeepers. You ain't a real gamer just because you have some arbitrary checklist of skill and ruthless logic to back you up. Take a chill pill and maybe step back and review your priorities.

Don't expect people to play to your standards unless you want to be treated the same way. Because I guarantee you there are some people out there who think a 31,999 game means you're a garbage player who should uninstall the game, because you're obviously trash in their eyes.

I expect red rank survivors to play like red rank players. If they get slugged at 5 gens they never belonged to red ranks.

I shouldn't have to hold back at any moment throughout a match just because my opponents made it to red ranks by cleansing dull totems and farming altruism.

  • Tru3 himself slugs up to 3 survivors at 5 gens if he gets a chance to do so.

The only reason he won't slug all 4 survivors is his beloved pip (that you definitely need on red ranks for whatever reason) so he will usually let them recover to a point where he knows they can't win anymore while factually MILKING said survivors that clearly don't belong to red or purple ranks.

Personally I consider it a feat of skill to literally speedrun a 4k. If all 4 survivors are REAL red rank players INDIVIDUALLY they won't get slugged and they will split up and pump out gens even while injured.

If everyone gets slugged in 1 minute they belong to yellow ranks. Just my opinion.

  • Yupp that's intended.

  • All those streamers you named camp, slug and tunnel every now and then.

Even Otz facecamped someone today for running Object of Obsession against his Trapper on Rotten Fields.

Umbra slugs at 5 gens every match so she never needs to camp and Tru3 camps and tunnels on a regular basis.

Everything is part of the game. It's your mission to find a way to beat the killer.

It's not the killer's mission to be fair and fun. It's a PVP game.

  • So how exactly would you buff killers if solos were to get buffed to SWF potential?

  • Last time I encountered Spirit Fury Enduring it was a Pig and I didn't get hit because there was another pallet right around the corner and the Pig had good connection so I got another stun and the Pig didn't even get the hit. 2 perk slots just to give me more stun points. Some killers are so generous. ❤️

Makes me think of completely new in-game content. What if the basement chest could only be opened with a green-key/broken-key and it contained a UNIQUE item. A laser pointer for instance which works like an ordinary flashlight but with more range or something like that. 🤔

There Is a bleedout option. Its 4 minutes long.

This is the same as people butt dancing or flash clicking a killer that cannot get to them and do anything. It does nothing but get under people's skin who let it.

Obviously hes being a troll about it, but its 4 minutes. And it's not exclusive to killers.

So can we all stop acting like 4 minutes is the end of the world and stop letting people you don't know controlling pixels on a screen bother us? Trust me, you'll feel a lot better when you realize none of that "bm" ######### matters unless you let it.

Giving survivors an option to instantly bleed out (after a set period of time of about 50% blood similar to giving up on hook in 2nd stage) would be a plain QoL change. Not sure why anyone would speak against it.

  • @Blueberry said:

That would seem toxic. That said, we see none of the game that happened before that and you have a purple flashlight. For all we know you were in a toxic swf tbagging and flashlight flicking him all game, we have no idea.

The amount of times I see a killer do something like that when no one was toxic on our team is extremely, extremely rare.

Just saying it seems odd for a person to randomly do that for no reason.

OP probably found the flashlight using Plunderers + Ace In The Hole so my dedicated guess is op forgot they even had the flashlight in the first place considering it wasn't even used.

  • Isn't this considered griefing? 🤔

    - you're the last survivor and the killer already closed the hatch so the killer can't claim they wanted to secure the 4k.

    - you were slugged for several minutes so the killer can't say it was because of "potential ds".

    - the killer never left your body so they can't claim they lost your body or it was because they wanted to break a few pallets/gens for more points.

    - the killer never picked you up so they can't claim they danced on your body for minutes because there was no hook around.

But then again... I guess planting barbwires on you/around you is enough to nullify the clip as one could say "the killer wasn't griefing they just wanted more bloodpoints by using the power".

Long story short: There should be a bleedout option for survivors so these weird players can't just force you to watch them dance for nearly 4 minutes. DBD isn't Just Dance.

  • If the upcoming Early Game Change slowed down a match considerably then I'll agree that some killers will need to be adjusted to allow for a fair chance on both sides.

Imagine a new, mechanical early game slowdown by game design combined with Freddy with a slowdown build.

Im pretty sure they said they dont count disconnects in their stats.

Not sure about afk survivors but thats balanced out by all the deranking afk wraiths or killers that give hatch or killers that farm and let everyone go

I didn't mean the disconnecters themselves but the 4ks that were the result of people disconnecting during a match. I remember there was a time where people would dc at 5 gens because they wanted to derank leaving me with 2 other randoms with 5 gens so it was pretty much a free win for the killer anyways.

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1471639#Comment_1471639

Ruin was changed, maps are considerably smaller, strong loops eradicated, and lots of deadzones added to the maps. This might be enough to push the killrates even higher. If I remember correctly, Freddy had a higher killrate than Billy so why wasn't Freddy nerfed? He is bringing home the bacon. AFKs, suicides, and disconnects are the most important stat. I bet it is through the roof with Freddy. I almost never saw anyone DC against Billy.

We can only guess at this point as many things have been changed on both sides affecting the pace of trials (i.e. Ruin) AND chases (i.e. deadzones). It's a pity the devs are not going to post more recent stats.

  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1471398#Comment_1471398

Close to 75% is 3 kills. Do the devs want to advertise a game where their only hope is the hatch?

"close to 75%" is not 3 kills. It's still an average of 2 kills as we're talking about players so rounding up is not correct. It's still a 2k average with a high tendency for a 3k. There's not "half a survivor" afterall.

Also no killer even had a 75% kill rate (at least not across ALL ranks which is more relevant than only red ranks when talking about advertising a game). Even on red ranks only Freddy, Spirit and Hillbilly were either at or above 75%. That's literally only 3 killers out of 20 and one of them just got nerfed.

On top of that the kill rates themselves aren't even relevant anymore as they were recorded BEFORE THE RUIN CHANGE.

And even when they were released the devs themselves told everyone to take the stats with a grain of salt as they included afk survivors, survivors that suicided on hooks, disconnects etc.

Yet people are still using these (outdated) stats from 2019. Unbelieveable.

  • @Sluzzy said:

The devs will have a lot of explaining to do if they add a hardship at the beginning of a match when the average killrate is already well over 60%. This means they are abandoning their 50% killrate goal and balancing heavily towards killers. The endgame is already killer sided so the beginning shouldn't be changed, especially when the killrates are so high.

1 survivor is 25% in a trial so everything below 75% is still within the average of 2 kills per trial.

  • Do we know for sure they'll not buff any values of some survivor perks when the patch goes live?

It's not allowed but totally not punishable. Devs could easily implement a time limit or something but they actively choose not to. Seems to be a running theme with this game.

    It is punishable.

I created a thread with video evidence myself ages ago (with censored names, of course) because I wasn't sure myself and one of the mods or devs (can't remember) replied it was in fact bannable and told me to report them next time (obviously with another clip).

  • @Frareid88 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1470434#Comment_1470434

But you can't do that to poor old killers. They don't like things going against them

Someone that just sits on your body for 4 minutes for absolutely no reason other than to act like a big shot is not a killer.

Those people are usually frustrated kids that want to feel powerful which is why they will often not appear as killer again. That's what I noticed. The most rude acting killers never play a lot as they can't take a loss and EVERY active killer loses once in a while with absolutely no exception.

  • @Frareid88 said:

Can't reply to all 4 comments above. But it's 3 v 1.just the oppiste of a real game. Just because survivors can hide in lockers for an endless time, but when they get downed and the killer just stares at them and has a timer, what really makes this different? The fact the killer got fed up and DCd. JuSt RuN iRoN mAiDen

I think if you're literally the last survivor and the killer lets you bleed out for no reason (the killer could wait out DS and you're on your last minute of blood or the killer could wait for 1 survivor to bleed out so the other survivor can't get up with Unbreakable or escape via the hatch etc) even though the killer knows your location it can be considered griefing.

  • @Frareid88 said:

What about killers when they down survivors and don't kill them and let them bleed out? Is this not the same? As it happens every other game

No, it is not the same. You will bleed out in 4 minutes when you get slugged.

If 2 survivors are intentionally hiding -especially on a big map- the game can potentially never end.

  • @Avocet said:

Yup, it's quite infuriating. They apparently had fun hiding though. Holding the game hostage is a bannable offense but I assume you need to submit at least video evidence to hope for any consequences for those players. I don't know about you but I don't record my matches.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/F7QGH1HRXMGH/20200715224754-1.jpg

You're on XB1 so you can record the last few minutes by clicking the XBOX button in the middle and then "X". It will record up to 5 minutes that you played before which probably is enough to proof they were intentionally hiding especially if you run Surveillance like in your screenshot.

  • That's not allowed.

Purposefully hiding with no intention to do gens for an excessive period of time (which is obvious when they're not touching gens for 10 minutes and even admitting it by saying "Kate we did it") is considered holding the game hostage. Next time record it and submit a ticket.

  • Although I would love to play with your version of Lightweight, Resilience combined with Iron Will and Spine Chill we have to admit it would be broken.

If nobody left scratch marks outside a chase (your version of Lightweight) and made no grunts of pain (Iron Will) you'd NEED minutes to find them if they just keep sprinting away whenever Spine Chill warned them resulting in up to 4 survivors with 18% action-/repair speed buffs.

Also if they got healed up they could just take the hit in a chase and run away in a perfectly straight line which often ENDS the chase mechanic which would disable scratch marks (Lightweight) so you would lose them everytime they're able to take a hit.

  • @CertArn said:

Wounded surv. is slower, louder and basically easy prey. Why healing is bad then?

Anyway, running around like burned dog is maybe best option and sadly sneaking not. But i like sneaking, not running, so maybe dont tell anyone how they should enjoy games? Thats what i call Bad Habit.

If anything devs should balance Sneaking=Running.

    Injured survivors are not slower.

  • That was very... Insightful... I guess.

  • Huntress is stronger as her hits are guaranteed injuries or downs and her range is unlimited allowing her to zone you from high distances when she's just holding the fully charged hatchet while you're in the open. She doesn't get countered by dropped pallets unlike Deathslinger.

Also she doesn't have to waste time reeling survivors in (while risking to not even get the hit).

Also she naturally has a reduced cooldown for hatchet throws allowing her to go for the M2+M1 combo up close which is almost like an instadown.

    However Deathslinger has SOME advantages:

    - the Deathslinger is better at getting close as he's got no lullaby unlike Huntress and a nearly non-existent terror radius depending on addons especially with MonitorAbuse.

    - he has no (slow) windup animation unlike Huntress.

    - he doesn't slow down as much as Huntress while aiming. Huntress slows down to 77% while holding a hatchet and has a slow animation for canceling the hatchet throw whereas Deathslinger slows down to 82.5% and has NO animation when canceling it allowing him to spam the aim animation while getting closer.

    - Deathslinger's projectile speed is ALWAYS 1000% which is the same projectile speed as a fully charged up hatchet which means he can quickscope you around every corner whereas Huntress needs a brief moment for her windup animation forcing her to catch you in an animation or in the open. A non-charged up hatchet can easily be dodged most of the time as it has a projectile speed of 625%, too.

So when it comes to regular chases Deathslinger gets more opportunities for ranged attacks effectively but Huntress is still more lethal due to the reasons I named above.

  • I think it's difficult to see all the neutral and knowledgeable forum members because "aggressive" posts are just more noticeable so it's easy to forget about the rest.

Personally I play both sides which is why I speak for and against a lot of things which is why I got called killer main AND ALSO survivor main by different forum members. Just ignore overly aggressive people that clearly speak for one side only and focus on those that want to have a friendly chat about things.

On a side note I personally even suggested a new exhaustion perk named "Determined Prey" a while ago despite having a slight tendency for killer gameplay. Here's the thread:

    @Yamaoka said:

Description: "getting chased for a set period of time boosts your confidence and your will to survive. Determined to not go down you drop a pallet and use the chance to escape.

Determined prey activates after a total chase duration of 60/50/40 seconds. Dropping a pallet while Determined Prey is active allows the survivor to sprint at 150% of their running speed for a maximum of 4 seconds.

Determined Prey can not be used while exhausted. Using Determined Prey causes exhaustion 60/50/40 seconds"

NOTE: I realize a 4 second 150% sprint is extremely strong. However if you think about it all the other exhaustion perks don't have actual requirements and still grant either immunity (Dead Hard) or a 3 second 150% sprint for doing nothing special.

Sprint Burst: You just start running. 3 seconds 150% sprint.

Lithe: Vault pallet or window. 3 seconds 150% sprint.

Balanced Landing: Fall down somewhere. 3 seconds 150% sprint and no sound while falling.

"Determined Prey" requires you to actually get chased for a set period of time before you can even try to use it to escape the killer. It rewards strong survivors and still requires a pallet to use once activated. It's basically an exhaustion perk you have to work for.

The survivors in this case definitely didn't play it right for sure. You could argue that they didn't know she had Nurses Calling and thought they were safe on the second hit. The ace was definitely a noob or very confused. That last hit....i don't even know how she got. I'm still trying to figure out because there was no line of sight to make that shot.

But those things aside, my point still stands that no other killer could have made that play happen at all. A nurse with Infectious Fright might have been able to pull it off, but that's about it

I agree Huntress is very strong (although I wouldn't consider her S-tier due to the reasons I'll list below) but just about any killer looks like a total beast like in your clip if survivors mess up or meme around (which happened in this clip of mine)

    https://youtu.be/tKTDzsQOe7U

I could either say "BUBBA S-TIER BECAUSE 4K IN 39 SECONDS!" or I could be realistic and admit two of them were obviously meme-ing while the 3rd survivor thought they could loop me (which would have worked if I had not controlled the chainsaw around the loop perfectly while running Redline addons) and the 4th survivor decided to just hide behind a crate despite Infectious and totally ignored the T-L-wall behind them allowing me to end the match immediately.

As for the reasons why I personally don't consider Huntress S-tier. Her basekit lacks mobility, tracking, stealth , gen defense and she can't effectively counter "closed loops" (los blockers) which forces her into the windup mindgame which can cost her A LOT throughout a match. As a result she's map dependant. So yes, she is strong in 1 v 1-ing but a real S-TIER killer has more than that.

Spirit (for instance) can end chases quickly regardless of the map, she can check gens, gates, hooks, totems (if you run hexes) etc. quickly throughout the match.

She can quickly switch targets without losing too much time and catch even GOOD survivors off guard (especially if you switch targets while they're in your terror radius). She has everything it takes to be strong (if the player behind her knows what they're doing).

Damn, this post got way too long I think.

  • Yes, Huntress is very strong as she can zone and down survivors from high distances, ignore pallets/windows to a certain degree allowing her to shut down even very strong loops like the killer shack and if you bump into her after a red glow mindgame she can go for the famous M2+M1 combo which is pretty much like an instadown.

However the clip you posted is about the worst example when it comes to showcasing her strength because these survivors were playing like... No, I'm not even going to call them potatoes because that would be kinda disrespectful towards potatoes.

She hooked Claudette and all 3 survivors were at the same spot yet NONE of them were ready for BBQ throws despite hearing Huntress' global full-windup animation and even when they got hit Nea started Self Caring on the spot instead of leaving which resulted in a quick 2nd hit via Nurse's Calling. Ace decided to not react at all and just walked against the wall for several seconds like a confused new player instead of just leaving even after Nea had gotten downed and the 3rd survivors didn't look behind them allowing for easy ranged hits.

  • Where is Adrenawin?
