  • Is there a video between the 1000 advertisements? I would appreciate a timestamp.

  • Personally I didn't watch any streamers or youtubers in 2017 so I learned just about everything by just playing both sides, randomly testing stuff and reading (wiki posts) a lot.

The base game never really changed "a lot" so I think it's still relatively easy to get a hang of the game without the help of any content creators to be honest.

Obviously there is more overall content to learn now (perks, powers, maps) but the principle of every content always has a certain pattern so it becomes easier to understand new content after a while.

The second I'm on a new map I will immediately see "possible loops" (for instance) because you just understand how the game is designed at some point. You know what I mean.

And as with most things in life you will naturally learn quicker the more interest you have.

So yeah, I really don't think it takes a content creator to become good at DBD.

YES. PLEASE. A Xenomorph could be the scariest sneaky killer in the game potentially. Imagine THIS kind of Xenomorph playstyle:

The jumpscare factor would easily be a 10/10

Dude if your main complaint is that there’s no tutorial or guide I don’t know what you’re on about. In the main menu there’s literally a tab called “Help and Tutorials” with tutorials for survivors and killers and an overall guide to the game. How do you even miss that after playing for months? You’re ignorant about what you’re talking about.

So you're just ignoring the fact the tutorial teaches you pretty much nothing about the game on both sides making it a waste of time?

You can't even pick a killer and test/use the power during the killer part of the tutorial and as survivor you don't even get to use a pallet.

How can you possibly call that a tutorial?

I've been playing this game for 2 years so I think I'm experienced enough.

So you've been playing the game for 2 years yet you still believe Freddy has some unique lunge?

Quote: "He's the only killer that can hit you from 20 meters away"

  • @Steel_Eyed said:

I don’t know that he’s buffed. In some ways he was nerfed. No charge or cooldown addons. PWYF/Nemesis combo not really all that viable.

He is however inarguably more interesting to play. And moves faster in his ability.

At base he's faster than before. With addons however his max speed was actually nerfed as well.

  • I'm red ranks on both sides.

  • MMR seems to work just fine for me. I'm getting red rank killers as survivor and red rank survivors as killer. Sometimes there's a purple or even green rank survivor in the lobby but for the most part everything seems normal. Are people exaggerating? I'm genuinely confused.

  • Why do you count Frenzy as lethality when it's more of a built-in stall similar to tier3-madness?

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    Theoretically,

If all survivors are spawned in separate locations and get on a gen quickly (~10sec), with Commodious toolboxes (shave off a few seconds), BNP (reduces repair time by 20 sec of base 80 given all prompts hit), Socket Swivels (30% repair speed bonus, shave off a few secs), Streetwise (25% more charges, shave off a few secs), Hit all Great checks (a second or so taken off), the Killer is a Trapper so they don't start gen pressure early = 4 gens popped in about 1 min, At least two run Prove Thyself (increased team repair speed and will be present in next scenario) all run Detectives Hunch (see where the last gens are immediately), all run Dark Sense (to see where the Killer is in relation to gens), one distracts the Killer and the rest run to a single gen (~15s) and 3-man repair (30 sec, less with all Great) you could possibly have all 5 gens done in less than 2 minutes if everything is perfect.

This is the kind of mechanical reply I was looking for - Thank you.

On a side note since we're talking perfect conditions I figure the two "non-prove-thyself" survivors would bring Resilience so that could save up to 7 seconds per gen as well if the killer tries to spread damage without committing to a chase.

  • @IronWill said:

And again someone watches some other player game and comes here to complain cause it happened ONCE but when this dude would have killed all 4 within 3.5 minutes, i bet you wouldnt have made a thread about that!

And again someone posts a comment before reading what I even said in the original post. I literally said:

"I'm not complaining about gen rush or anything. Everyone knows about the pace of games and how quickly things can go on both sides.

I'm just genuinely interested how quickly all 5 gens can be repaired at this moment if everything goes perfectly for the survivors.

    What do you think?"

This thread is more of a mechanical question.

I haven't complained in any way whatsoever.

Please take your time to read a thread before posting a comment next time.

  • Dead By Framedrops

    Optimisation is not an escape.

  • This is one of those moments where I'm glad that the devs completely ignore forum posts when it comes to balance. Infectious is a mere information perk with a huge requirement.

The information is not even an aura but a location bubble. If you're really close the location bubble will not even appear and if you're barely inside the terror radius the killer will waste time trying to even find you if you just WALK away from your location.

Therefore Infectious is not even a questionable perk. It can be good - it can be useless. In any case it can be countered and thus doesn't require ANY changes.

  • Personally I briefly study all survivors I come across. If someone tbags at the start of the game clicking their flashlight I expect them to run Dead Hard and Decisive Strike since both perks are easy to use and very impactful.

I wouldn't ignore them right off the bat as some of them are just acting like big shots when in reality they're quite average so don't give up immediately just because they make it to 1 window and tbag behind it.

If they make multiple good reads and jukes drop the chase and look for the weak link. There's (almost) always a survivor or even two survivors who are clumzy and easy to catch. Once you get rid of them you got all the time in the world to chase the "toxic survivor".

If you happen to come across an optimal team of 4 god loopers you will most likely lose, though. In that case just remember the game is not "controllable" as many things are completely out of your hands (map, map layout, rng, kobes, fps drops during a chase, survivor builds that happen to perfectly counter your build by coincidence, sound bugs etc.).

The game is AND always will be luck based to some degree.

I feel like I am at an office party and some long term ironic joke is being spun around me right now but no one is letting the mask slip even a little bit so I'm just drinking in the corner wondering what to say.

That made me laugh harder than it should.

I guess people are just trying to give Clown a shot thanks to @DudeDelicious and they appear to be enjoying Clown's anti loop which can undeniably be strong.

Clown mostly suffers from the typical "M1-killer-syndrome" which is a lack of time as he's got no tracking, no map pressure, no mobility, no stealth (which can save a lot if time) etc. but when it comes to 1 v 1 -ing he CAN be strong.

Personally I like how people are finding passion in playing killers that have been in the game for so long. I really do.

  • Honestly I've always thought Hag was one of the stronger characters in the game and it is beyond me how someone could even think she's average or something like that.

However I doubt Plague will ever be considered as strong because she's mechanically just not the same caliber. Without blood vomit she is just an ordinary, VERY TALL (and thus easy to see/loop) M1 killer with average terror radius and no mobility whatsoever.

I mostly feel comfortable playing the match injured when it's Plague (unless my team starts cleansing, of course). Hag however makes me wanna crouch in a corner and heal like a rank 20 because you just don't know where her webs/traps are so you could get downed in a second the moment you start the chase against her while injured.

Against good Hags it feels like EVERY loop is prepared 24/7 giving you no chance to waste her time.

    Just my opinion.

  • Legion? Powerful? How? I always feel a relief when it's Legion as their power can merely injure me and I feel VERY comfortable playing the whole match while injured.

  • Honestly last time I played on Lery's it felt like a slideshow. I wonder if the graphics update will make it even worse.

  • What's Slenderman doing in a Jimmy Neutron clip (@ 0:24) ? 🤔

  • I was expecting a thread about Insidious not gonna lie.

I have to admit I'm surprised people dislike Devour Hope. I never use it myself but as a survivor I think it's a pretty "exciting" perk to go against because of the "shock effect" when the first person gets hits by 3 tokens Devour and suddenly it's NOT all about them gens anymore and you just know you gotta find and destroy that totem before the killer gets the other 2 tokens allowing them to go for the mori.

I like the concept as it switches things up A LOT when it works. Also I think it's an interesting way to implement moris without offerings that allow you to mori someone out of the game within the first minute.

But just out of curiousity: You said you want it nerfed so how would YOU nerf it if you could?

  • Something that disappoints me big time is the fact there was one update that made the game run smooth as hell almost like on PC a year or two ago but it only lasted temporarily for 1 single patch and I can't remember which patch it was. I think @DudeDelicious remembers the patch as well. I wish I knew which patch it was so I could look up clips and compare with the current version.

  • So one could say the match was a... Nightmare? 🤔

Anyways isn't that pretty much the average Freddy build (excluding the mori)?

Leatherface Match = Automatic justified hook suicide 100% of the time

Seriously if your up against any pay 2 win killer you should be notified before the match starts

My gf (who doesn't even look behind her in a chase) literally just had a 4 man escape against a Rank-1 Bubba as a solo player. We recorded it, too. One of her teammates was a rank 20 with 1 perk.

Think about that for a second.

  • @Todgeweiht said:

Learn to counter him. Avoid open spaces and ALWAYS stay near a window. Leatherface is completely destroyed by windows, especially now that charge add-ons are gone.

    @ScottJund said:

He is countered in literally the exact same way. Windows are just as effective. I don't know why people aren't taking more than five minutes to realize this.

    This.

He is the same killer as before. Only difference is he's now better at punishing outpositioned- and pallet greedy survivors. Other than that nothing has changed.

Windows still hard-counter his ability, some pallets can still be looped if there's a near-by window and even without a window he's usually not quick enough to down you if you loop the pallet once before dropping it.

  • @slunder said:

@slim0b you have a point for the killer latency part, sometimes it is this. But when you notice that there is a pattern in things that bug more often (like dead hard for example), then you can tell it is not just lag. Also, if it is the killer that lags, then why cannot the devs fix it?

    @johnmwarmer yes

Quote: "Also, if it is the killer that lags, then why cannot the devs fix it?"

The game used to be hosted via the killer (peer to peer). When the devs added dedicated servers some parts of the game's peer to peer roots remained such as killer-sided hit registration.

This causes laggy killers to get all kinda of unfair hits to this day.

However the devs are going to fix this by adding server-sided hit validation. They actually wanted to test it during the latest PTB but due to laggy PTB servers the test was postponed.

It's coming down the road anyways so expect hits to make A LOT more sense in the future.

You’re totally forgetting the underrated and overpowered Cruel Limits.

...because the killer is always in the right spot...

...with a gen popping at the right time...

...during a chase in the same area as the popped gen...

How dare you mention that op perk in public ?! I will have to hide in @SpaceCoconut 's basement until people forget about that comment of yours!

Yes, it's his basement now since he claimed it using his Dorito shaped traps. Feelsbadman.

  • Don't worry - killers can temporarily block 1 WHOLE window using the hate-perk of the week: Bamboozle!

That certainly makes up for chain-able windows.

  • Even though Leatherface's rework increased his total potential many people seem to struggle playing him effectively because the devs removed instasaw and added his charge mechanic making him difficult to play for all the people that used to just mow you down with instasaw at point blank range.

As a result these kinda people tend to camp even more than before I suppose.

Unfortunately the devs are not planning to change camping mechanically at this moment as it is sometimes not avoidable (open gates or hook swarming survivors for instance).

Maybe they will make a change to camping when the Early Game Change gets added to the game.

I guess we'll have to wait and see.

I don't care if you disagree about the speculation (look at the conversation AVoiceOfReason and I are having), I care more about your attitude and your presumptions. No one asks "so which killer and perks am I allowed to use" without coming into the conversation in bad faith, and without assuming the person in question is a survivor main (which always happens because I use survivor profile pictures more than killers).

Perhaps that's also presumptuous of me. But I've seen you before, and I've seen the mentality before.

Why do you keep replying to someone as "boring" as me especially if you don't even care about my thoughts and whether I agree or disagree? That's not rational, is it?

It's in your wording, right there.

Have a nice day and keep practicing.

Referring to me having troubles looping him. I haven't even faced a Bubba yet, at least, not a decent one. I'm speaking from my personal experience of playing him and basically only him since his rework.

I really don't care if you want to keep prattling on and replying. I just find you boring and worthy of dismissing.

You really didn't have to post another "ree" post just because I don't agree with you. I may be boring but at least I'm realistic when it comes to counterplay in a 4 v 1 game.

Again, burn the L wall. Survivors can only vault a window 3 times in a chase. It's not hard to force an entity blocker on an L wall if you need to and the T is boozled. Worst comes to worst and they play it perfectly, you have to M1.

L wall T walls are hardly the point anyway, you can win those with normal M1 mindgames. Bamboozle's mostly for the mindless god windows and saving time at shack.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1511870#Comment_1511870

You're assuming I'm a survivor main because I like the Hope icon (and Hope as a perk, which is sleeper really, really, really good). I don't care to have this conversation with you. It's brainless.

I haven't even said 1 single thing about you. You said Bubba has no counter so I asked you a simple question. Your reaction is "reee leave me alone" which goes to show Bubba is just fine. People are just salty that it now takes more skill to loop him (which is STILL VERY possible even if he runs Bamboozle) so yeah. Have a nice day and keep practicing. You'll get there I'm sure.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1511852#Comment_1511852

What does that have to do anything?

It's the profile picture again, innit?

You suggest there's no counterplay so my main is now officially broken ESPECIALLY with crazy unfair perks like Bamboozle and Enduring/Spirit Fury so I want to make sure I can get looped for 5 gens since I'm clearly supposed to be an entertainer and not a dangerous killer so you tell me what I'm supposed to play. Name me a killer and a build. I bet you someone will still call it unfair if I manage to win.

Most survivors seem to think they deserve to have a chance to loop the killer forever by using easy-to-use mechanics (pallets/windows) in a 4 v 1 game which is -in my opinion- a completely false expectation.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1511796#Comment_1511796

You can easily loop him at a t-wall, a window

    Bamboozle.

stun him with a pallet without him breaking the pallet with the chainsaw.

    Enduring SF

    He cant rev forever

Irrelevant unless facecamping. Which is funny, because he can still 100% do it, it just takes a little more brain power.

his tantrums are longer, rewarding you for making him run into something.

Relying on player mistakes = counterplay argument, similar to Spirit/Deathslinger.

I think a perfectly played Bubba might actually be nigh-unstoppable for solos. We'll have to see if he can actually get hits when running the vast majority of tiles perfectly against a survivor who also runs them perfectly (chili probably makes this possible). Regardless, I think people are going to start calling him unfair once people start getting used to him and using Enduring SF and/or Bamboozle. I'm very interested to see how he plays out in the long run.

So which killer and perks am I allowed to use?

  • @Tricks said:

Because every Multiplayer game needs an easy-mode, hand-held, babied pay 2 win crutch option.

Oh wait, no that's just single player games. Easy-mode, hand-holding babied pay 2 win crutches in Multiplayer games just kills the game. I keep forgetting that one.

Whenever I'm on Bubba it always feels like an uber cheasy mode sweat fest.

And when playing against him I just go /Super_immersed_Blendette.exe till I'm caught then its /suicide.exe (because rewarding pay2win crutchlords with free faceroll win is lame) or /hatch.exe if I'm lucky enough to avoid the sweat for that long.

Woow, such a long post for such a simple statement. You could have just said you're not good at the game.

  • Is this a platform specific issue?

  • Last time I played solo and had a 3 man SWF for teammates (at least I think they were SWF as they ran the same perks) they rescued me from a facecamping infinite tier 3 Myers even though the gate was open and they could have just left (I actually wanted to give up on the hook so the killer wouldn't get a lucky endgame 4k but they were too close to the hook so I struggled).

Anyways they managed to bait him into a missed swing and unhooked with Borrowed Time allowing me to take a hit to cover them.

Long story short: We all escaped and they were the best teammates I've ever had in all my years of playing DBD as a solo. None of them even tbagged at the gate either. They were all about efficient plays rather than acting toxic.

  • I too think Governor was easily the most interesting character in the TWD universe. His theme was pretty badass, too and could be used for a terror radius and chase music:

    https://youtu.be/Av-sDbo271o

However he doesn't have an actual power. He usually shot people like an ordinary villain so I don't know how he'd fit in the DBD universe to be honest.

  • Have you watched OhTofu's latest YouTube video by any chance?

  • You're just trying to hide the fact you meant to turn the whole map into a giant pizza. I gotta hand it to you that's one hell of an idea to bait survivors but they won't fall for it without some cheese.

    Untitled Image

  • A lot of animations are currently bugged as survivor and killer including the flashlight animation itself. Sometimes you aim for the killer's face but the survivor's arm position is slightly off resulting in either no blind or a delayed blind.

  • Sprint Burst is still -by far- faster than Bubba.

If people don't manage to use the Sprint Burst to get to a pallet or window then they never deserved to escape in the first place.

  • @Snapshot said:

I mean, it does cancel the chainsaw, so....

You're still supposed to get stunned and stand still during said stun.

This bug literally allows you to run through the pallet at full speed with no delay which allowed op to down Zarina in the first clip (who would have made it to the pallet between the bookshelves and Jeff in the second clip (who would have made it to the pallet behind the gen).

Even the famous Spirit Fury/Enduring combo looks like a total joke compared to this bug.

  • That's a bug that I've already seen/noticed during the PTB. Definitely needs to get fixed.

Then whats your proposal? There's a huge chunk of the pbase that actually IS solo.

Combined with (still)broken match making, being paired with bad/new teammates is still an issue. So yeah, you can't balance around JUST SWF. Which is why they need to fix the damn system thats been broken since Day 1.

You can take out SWF, but.. they lose a gash of the pbase. Takes away the fun of playing with a friend or 2 or 3. Not every SWF is a 4man no mither sabo squad. Then they'd lose a TON of advertising for the game through streamers, who like you said, SWF all the time. However, saying they never lose though, is an ugly lie. Sorry. I watch streamers who "win" more than half their games. I rarely see anyone with this argument that has a counter argument on what to do and typically gets the response of "its not my job".

I personally, play like a potato when playing either side on purpose because the game is just a meme with the way bandaid fixes, QOL changes, Challenges, nerfs etc are implemented. Like how they want to MMR Killers, but dunked their skill ceiling with recent killer "changes".

Folks tend to use the word Overpowered when they mean Strong. Especially, versus players who aren't/can't communicate. VS SWF it will always be harder. Just like how playing solo will always be harder.

I never said balance the game around "bully-SWF" who play the game up to 10 hours a day (that's what the SWF team does that I mentioned judging by the length of their saved streams). Maybe they lose some games but all matches I've personally watched so far ended exactly the same way. 4 people bullying 1 killer who gave up and either went afk (including a rank 2 Oni) or straight up disconnected. That's why I said they "pretty much" never lose and not "they never lose" - because I obviously don't know ALL their matches. I'm certainly not gonna watch 10 hours of one-sided SWF gameplay.

Anyways as for balance I think DBD is "ok" at this moment so my proposal is to just keep everything the way it is for the most part. Optimal solo survivors and SWF beat most killers and most killers beat suboptimal solo survivors (and sometimes even overly altruistic SWF). That seems reasonably fair although some aspects obviously need to be looked at on both sides.

Moris (as offerings) for instance are extremely outdated. No one wants to get moried off hook and give the killer an easy 4k so the devs need to come up with a fair and smart way to implement/keep them as they're fun to use and cool to see so straight up removing them would be a huge waste.

  • You know it's funny there's that toxic 4 man team who streams almost everyday. You know how often they die? Pretty much NEVER. 4 man escape almost every single match. Let me guess: All killers are just bad right?

They make almost every killer give up and stand still while they keep tbagging and clicking their flashlights. They usually even stop repairing the 5th gen at 99% so they can make fun of the killer for another few minutes since that forces the killer to stay in the game.

Yet here you are pretending that killers are overpowered.

    Let me guess:

"yOu CaNt BaLaNcE aRoUnD SWF sUrViVoRs WhO kNoW wHaT tHeY'rE dOiNg BeCaUsE kiLLeRs WoUlD wiN eVErY mAtCh AgAiNsT sOlOs".

Which basically means killers are only allowed to win against potatoes that go down in 10 seconds and drop god pallets AFTER getting hit.

  • @DragonMasterDarren said:

I say one of 3 phrases

"i don't like your rules so i'm doing this my way"

"I am not on your team, i don't give a damn about you"

"Oh boo hoo the widdle survivor main didn't get to escape for once, cry me a river"

I actually kinda like the second phrase. People need to wake up and realize it's a bloody PVP game. Your opponent is not supposed to give you an easy time.

Imagine playing another PVP game like COD and crying because other players wouldn't let you shoot them.

  • SWF would abuse it.

1 gen left all 4 are alive but oh no one of them is about to get hooked for the third time better disconnect quickly just before the killer gets to the hook while the teammates are already waiting at the gate so the last gen gets popped instantly while the killer loses a sacrifice hook AND has little chance to get to the gate in time.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/177850/bubba-is-literally-old-legion-with-instadowns

While I don't see Bubba as being that same level of bad, I can definitely see where you are coming from, one of the problems with balancing is how ######### good bamboozle is on Bubba. It's like Pop on Freddy or Stridor on Spirit tier, but it's not base, so how do you balance around it? Without bambam, you can abuse Bubba just fine and he is forced to M1 you. With it, you either need a really good setup (ideally lots of T+L walls), or the Bubba to be bad. It's pretty map dependant overall, I'm wondering what proposed changes you'd make though.

You're greatly overrating the power of Bamboozle. Any good survivor will EXPECT you to have Bamboozle as Billy or Bubba and wait for the moment you vault a window to run off to the next tile. Bamboozle is literally useless against good survivors unless they get EXTREMELY unlucky with RNG whereas Pop on Freddy or Stridor on Spirit is always powerful regardless of what survivors you face.

1 … 30 31 32 33 34 … 75
