What gets me, really, is that suddenly losing DLC has been a long term issue. I'm talking years. You've apparently been one of its latest victims.

Hey all! Genuine question as I’m still relatively new to the game. I noticed that the killers have basically no penalty when it comes to camping hooked survivors (besides maybe losing gens if camped at the beginning of the game). But also survivors get crows above their head if they’re stationary too long, too. I unfortunately don’t have the perks able to rescue myself so it usually leads to my death.
I’m sure this has been asked many times before but I couldn’t find an answer myself so I thought I’d reach out to try and get one. Thanks in advance and happy surviving/slaying!
That's exactly what these forums are for! There's a lot going on in them, I don't blame you for not wanting to search through and just make your own; keep it simple, right? A belated Welcome to the Fog, I'm sure.

The new grade changes have pretty much removed the already minimal downside that camping had. You can no longer lose a grade, so if you camp at Iri 1, you will stay at Iri 1. I'd like to see some other form of punishment implemented, however it would need to be designed in such a way that it doesn't punish a killer for camping when they need to.
Indeed, one cannot go down in grade, but their SBMM will. The grade is nothing but a place holder for end of season rewards.

Nope, I've said it should be 50/50, but now it is 100% on the survivor's side. They scream and run healthy
Shouldn't be 50/50 at all, it should be who got the hit first. But, you're right, it's 100% survivor sided. There's a clip someone shared in another post where the survivor dropped the pallet, stayed on the same side as the killer, and still didn't take the hit.
I take back everything I said.
-
Giving the killer a survivor objective in a 4v1 asymmetrical game when the killer is already hard pressed seems like a terrible idea. I'm nervous about it.

I've become way too familiar to the default controls at this point.
So gain new muscle memory. Shouldn't have two separate interactions bound to the same button, anyway.

It's not a calendar year, we were referring to the 5th year of the game. And we mentioned the keys with the mori changes.
Weren't they meant to be reworked at the same time?
-
I switched to PC about half a year ago; the grind is insane. We need an inflation of bloodpoints.
-
Perhaps one day, but BHVR keeps loading too much on their plate as it is. They've got to slow down on new content and work on the health of the existing content.

If they just added an indicator when she's phasing it would make a world of difference. Being able to stand still and defeat all counterplay at loops is bogus.
That's where I stand; a large part of her counterplay is lucky guessing.

Grade (what used to be Rank) means nothing in terms of skill level. All that is is a placeholder for End of Seasons Rank Rewards. You get rewarded based on what Rank you achieved as both a Survivor and a Killer. You cannot drop down a Grade level, it's more of an achievement than a progression style thing, so if you've achieved Iri 1 with a P350 maxed Nurse, you don't have to worry about losing that Reward if you want to try out your Clown who is level 15 with Monstrous Shrine T3.
MMR so far, from my experience, has been a pretty solid win. Every game, except one against a Camper, have been pretty damn exciting and enjoyable. Last match against a Blight was one of the best I've had in a LONG time. I've only played maybe a dozen, so not much of a sample size, but 11 out of 12 really solid matches makes me quite happy at this time. Might be a win for BHVR, but we'll see here in a week or two once I've played more matches.
We laughed at rainbow ranks, but can't really laugh at rainbow grades for this exact reason.

I hate people using this excuse. We KNOW thats not the case, everybody KNOWS your MMR doesn't begin at 0. if its been gathering data then why are so many peoples games completely broken? Shouldn't that gathered data be going to proper matchmaking like they said it would? The matchmaking is awful and needed more time in the oven.
And it's in the oven, let it cook. A week or two of testing isn't going to do much other than to see if it's working, but now MMR is out and SBMM is in. It should flatten out before too long. (keyword: should)

That's the problem with hiding the number. It will be nearly impossible to tell if it's working as intended or not. Which I imagine is the reason they had the numbers hidden in the first place so people wouldn't be able to point out how badly they screwed ot up
Well, the first problem here is expecting BHVR to be transparent :-p

That's a rough match.

Nothings worse than saving up shards or some money to spend on cosmetics & then what do you get in return? "Ugly skin", "######### skin", "you look terrible". Is this what the player base has come to? Being mean to each other & hitting you right where it hurts. It's not even reportable worst of all.
Is this not the same in real life? To quote Tom Segura, "Sometimes people suck."

You'd rather have the inverse? Cheap cosmetics but expensive ass chapters?
The way it works now is fine. Cheap gameplay content, expensive **optional** aesthetic content.
It doesn't have to be one way or the other, you know. You don't think essentially $15 for an outfit is a bit much?
-
It's been live for less than a day, that test not long ago wasn't all that long, and there's a lot of curves to try to flatten. Give it time and let's see.
-
That's not unlike asking if WoW players should be forced to play both sides.
A big fat no.
-
Give a 3-DC leeway. Apply a 5-min ban upon first DC and continue to apply an additional 5-min per DC and get rid of the bonkers system that's in place now which increases wildly beyond exponentially. Require a 24-hr period starting at the end of the latest DC's penalty to reset the ban increases and wash your hands of the whole ordeal.
-
Bloodpoints also need inflated to keep up with the massive, ever-growing grind.

@thefallenloser said:
Devs sometimes just need the time to do things that better help the overall health of the game, as adding more new content on top of what's already broken or bad will just cause what's new to suffer more.
Absolutely. They have got to slow down on their self-administered, 3-month chapter release schedule. They continue to show they can't handle the pace and, you know, that's okay. Slow down on the releases to give more time to focus on the health.

Sbmm doesn't work? Well tough it out anyways to bad for you right?
Pinhead causing dcs? Trust the process it will be fixed right?
Broken promises about an offline bot mode among others? Who cares we own the monopoly on this game right?
Maps disables and new bugs affecting killers and survivors...don't worry buy our cosmetics right?
I have been playing since 2018 and am tired of broken promises and buggy launches because bhvr doesn't want to take the time to improve the overall basic health of its spaghetti coding🤬.
We deserve better as gamers...stop giving them money until they treat you the way a paying customer deserves to be treated.
Rant over...back 4 blood and the new evil dead game cant come soon enough 🤑
Frankly, it's become disrespectful. I have no confidence in BHVR.

Anyone who's played Survivor long enough has been there. You hop off a gen and instantly get a skill check, so you automatically "miss" it because you are not able to even attempt to hit it.
But difficult skill checks for Overcharge are able to completed even if the survivor immediately gets off a gen.
So should regular skill checks change? Should Survivors be able to complete normal skill checks that pop up the second they hop off the gen, just like they do with Overcharge?
If you're a 50/50 Killer/Survivor, your opinion carries more weight for me, as Killer and Survivor mains each have a bias.
Absolutely. Often times, it seems intentional a skill check pops up when getting off a gen.

@Peanits In the 5.2.0 developer update, you said that you will take the data from SBMM to do balance changes for killers, using the stats from the top 5% of players.
But....in the recent past you guys said you won't balance this game for the top % of players.
So, what's the truth? What do you mean as "winning"?

Just wondering if the price of the RE chapter will go down to $8 when pinhead releases or will it still be 11 for a bit longer?
What really gets me is there are cosmetics that cost more than entire chapters. Cosmetics are stupid expensive.

One would think, after five years working on the game, a new character would be playable on release. I agree, it is piss poor and highly disrespectful to their playerbase.

Oh, I don't know, it's too early to tell. What Pinhead has going for him that Clown doesn't is that he has a built-in slowdown with the box and can scout out buildings and different levels in a heartbeat. We'll see once we start figuring out his minute tricks. That is, when he's playable.

-
First, make him playable.
-
I'm waiting until these server crashes are worked out to play. They've been disconnecting like crazy since release.
What BHVR honestly needs to do is SLOW DOWN! They've shown time and time and time again they cannot handle a 3-month chapter release schedule. It's too much on their plate, especially when the health of the game is in question. They really don't have an excuse anymore, they've been at it for five years, they have oodles of money; it's highly disappointing. I understand the frustration, @ArchAbhor, only not as wholly as you do as I haven't worked in the field.
-
There had been a time where the last survivor would go through both hook stages, but they'd be petty and wouldn't let themselves go. They'd just sit there for the two minutes for the sole purpose of wasting the killer's time. That said, if the last survivor did use Deliverance or Kobed, they'd just get slapped back down and either be put right back on the hook or left slugged for a minute to avoid DS.
It may seem miserable to not have a chance at escape, but it really is for the better to just negate all that tomfoolery. Not quite unlike old hatch stands; I do NOT miss those.
-
The mori was overhyped?
Well, there's no accounting for taste, one way or the other.
-
Also, the maps from all chapters (DLC) are available for everyone. It's not required to own the chapter in order to play on any particular map.
You don't even have to buy the chapter as a whole, you can unlock individual characters without having to get the whole bundle. Non-licensed characters (DBD's own, original characters) are available for 9,000 iridescent shards, which is an in-game, free currency that's earned by leveling up. Some of the best perks come from these characters, while other fantastic perks will be locked behind licensed characters that cost auric cells (purchased with real money) to unlock. There is, however, a Shrine of Secrets, where every Tuesday, it cycles two survivor and two killer perks that can be unlocked with iridescent shards. They say it's RNG what rolls up in it, but BBQ and Chili (a perk from Leatherface) comes along once a year.

The server crash can only happen while the hunt is active. As a killer I've been ignoring the box and the survivors still ignore it and then the server crashes. Please for goodness sake, solve the cube. I'm begging you.
How about you turn that energy to BHVR and not the survivors playing the broken game?

Sometimes I wish his iri button was basekit and it would make him more lethal than a mend. I don't know though just a thought but would def be more fun. Not my most liked killer but I do decent with them. Would prefer changes to some others first.
Perhaps a token system for breaking pallets when vaulting if that part of the iri is made basekit. Say, 4 tokens? 5?

I'm not for placing a totem just anywhere, that's a bit much. Preassigned places (not one of them in the great, wide open for the ISS to see), however, now we're talking. I also suggest for it to take 8sec to clean rather than the usual 12; it is a bonus totem, after all.
That vulture is pretty neat, what's the cooldown on it? 120 seconds?
Territorial Protection needs more than 4sec, without a doubt. It takes about that time just to leave the tile.

But, Bradleys are killers.
I haven't noticed armor piercing knives, seems you've been unfortunate.... or I've been fortunate.

The whole perk is a 40 seconds second chance perk that the survivors can use endlessly, the killer outplayed you? HA ######### you I press E and you got outplayed, omg you will catch me! don't mind me pressing E and reach the pallet/window I shouldn't have reached extending the chase for X/Y seconds, oh you trapped the doorway, HA ######### you i'll run over it, you plan to shock the ground on my feet to stop me from using the pallet? ha ######### you i'll totally ignore your power and drop it anyway, i'll run back into you and dash at your body but your weapon dissapeared during it, I'll 99% my healing and loop you until I use dead hard to reach a pallet and heal while you break it making it a 3 health state chase.
This perk is beyond broken and OP in every single way when using at the right places, yes it's totally useless when used in the open, the killer just have to wait it out, but in loops, this perk is simply overpowered, it should either be nerfed hardcore like it should or be removed/changed, it's simply too strong.
And every high rank survivors who are the most skilless ones use this perk because they are so bad they can't live without a second chance perk, talk about bieng insecure about their skills, gotta use a jailfree card if they ######### up.
You said it, "when using at the right places," just like everything else.
-
It's not the ranking system, it's just people. I promise. I've been running Kindred pretty much since its rework and I still get left to die on first hook or into second stage just to get unhooked in the killer's face without BT.
You're right, it does keep you with lower-skilled/less-knowledgeable players, I haven't been able to get past 15 for the last few months. I said it, 15! I'll have some games where I pipped, but then it's countered with de-pips. I acknowledge where it's on me, but just too often, it's a lack of teamwork or scared players.
And to think, I was once in red ranks. Switched to PC some time ago and have been yellow ever since. shrug The new account just hasn't been able to climb out. Thanks, team.
