Base Game?
Okay - I've been searching everywhere online, in every forum, on every page, but I can't seem to find the answer, and that brought me to you. I wan't this game. I have 4 friends who also wanna play. So my three questions are:
What's in the freaking base game? How many chapters, killers, survivors - and which ones?
And if there's only like two chapters in the base game, can one of us by the ultimate deluxe super edition (you know what I'm talking about) and then invite the others to the chapters?
I don't care about the cosmetics but off cause I would like to play around with the different perks/skills, but as understood the information I found here and there, I can play all that content free, or what?
Uhuhuh, one question mere - There's some killers/chapters/survivors I can't see on the list of the the ultimate deluxe super edition - does that mean that I have to buy those ON TOP of the ultimate deluxe super edition?

The base Pc version comes with all the base characters (Dwight, Meg, Jake, Claudette, billy, trapper and wraith) along with the last breath (Nea and nurse) chapter and you can download the lullaby for the dark (huntress and David) chapter for free
Console get feng, Doctor, hag and ace for free too
You will have trapper, wraith, hillbilly, nurse and huntress unlocked. As for survivors, dwight, meg, caludette, jake, nea and david.
All of these base kit characters are pretty good. Dwight has 2 really good perks, Meg has 2 VERY good perks and a viable one, Claudette has 2 good perks and one situational perk, Jake has one of the best perks in the game, Nea is the best survivor, and David has one of the best perks in the game.
For killers you will have 2 of the best perks unlocked plus the best killer and 3 other good ones.
I would recomend that you buy "Of Flesh and Mud", "Curtain Call", "Leatherface" and "Stranger Things" in order to have the rest of the good perks and ST because it is on sale ending today and after Nov 7th it will be gone forever from stores.
Most consoles get Hag, Feng, Ace, and Doctor alongside.
The Switch Edition gets every original character up and including to The Spirit + Adam Francis. Or Clown + Kate. Whichever came last.
It depends on platform and version you buy.
Steam base game includes base characters (Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Dwight, Meg, Claudette, Jake - those are always included no matter what) as well as Bill, Huntress, David, Nurse and Nea - I think those are also always included.
On console versions on top of those I think Doctor, Feng, Hag and Ace are always included.
On switch there are even more chapters included up until Clown and Kate.
Licensed chapters are not included but in some of the special packs.
apparently it used to be possible to share DLC character through family sharing BUT with the most recent update it’s not possible anymore. Not sure if it will be possible again in the future or not.
It depends on your platform. That is the issue... It kind of varies.
The chapters are literally just to access the characters. The maps are in the game by default and chapters are just a fancy name for the content drop. There is no gameplay tied to them, really.
Yes, there is a Shrine that will cycle perks every week. And all original killers and survivors can be purchased with in-game currency, the licensed characters are locked behind paywalls, however.
If they aren't listed, they aren't included. Albeit, not all characters are tied to a dlc chapter. So you will have those unlocked already.
Chapters are how they call the DLC bundle of one or two survivors and a killer, sometimes just one character. DLCs are applied just for yourself. PC base game has 7 free survivors and 5 free killers.
Console versions come with 2 or more free chapters. Yes, even after buying the biggest bundle devs want to milk a bit by leaving other chapters in need to purchase appart.
I only recommend to play in PC or Next gen consoles atm because optimization has been ignored hard for the past years and devs are getting worse on it, maybe even better wait or find another game to play with friends.
Know that you can only make progress by playing public games, you can only play killer with your friends in private matches, but you can play survivor with friends in both public and private matches, where you are matched with a random killer player from your region.
Public matches parties are up to 4 players together and private ones allow one more as killer.
Know also that after playing for long and better you will end up playing along and against better players, and most of the playerbase usually play to win at any competitive instance, where survivors will repair as soon as possible or killers will camp, slug and tunnel.
Also, the maps from all chapters (DLC) are available for everyone. It's not required to own the chapter in order to play on any particular map.
You don't even have to buy the chapter as a whole, you can unlock individual characters without having to get the whole bundle. Non-licensed characters (DBD's own, original characters) are available for 9,000 iridescent shards, which is an in-game, free currency that's earned by leveling up. Some of the best perks come from these characters, while other fantastic perks will be locked behind licensed characters that cost auric cells (purchased with real money) to unlock. There is, however, a Shrine of Secrets, where every Tuesday, it cycles two survivor and two killer perks that can be unlocked with iridescent shards. They say it's RNG what rolls up in it, but BBQ and Chili (a perk from Leatherface) comes along once a year.
