You all fail to understand that she's also slugging to avoid getting flashlight saved. That's why she says "I didn't make a mistake and I got punished."
Dwight, Claudette, and Feng Min all had flashlights. When she was slugging, one of them or multiple of them were around. She couldn't take her hooks, because she'd get flashlight saved and be back to square one.
Hmmm seems like there's a perk that totally negates Clicky Clicks but what do I know.....it's not like a Killer can see what Survivors bring

I believe it is an old ancient system because camping just doesn't make sense for Altruism whatsoever.
The example you gave shouldn't be how the game plays all of the time. Just think about it for a few minutes...
We all let one survivor die, all gens get done, they all leave. Let's keep repeating this process. If you don't think that's boring, you must play monopoly.
I gave you a example but a example where camping is ok. But yes if he's camping at end game just ignore the hooked survivor and just leave. Killer gets 1k and Survivors get 3e.
But camping isn't this full on a solid kill all....2 survivors can break a face camper unless it's a Bubba but that's a different beast all together and takes a bit more teamwork that soloQ dosn't have ATM.

Like I stated in my reply to someone else, if you want to level/grade up, you need iridescent points to get to iridescent grade. Camping ruins the Altruism part, so why should it be there anyway?
Can we talk about Altruism instead of skipping it?
Nah grading up means nothing but extra BP at reset. The scoring system is a fossil of old match making system.
Camping is a valid strat when used correctly and not at 5 gens. For example, during end game when all Fens are done the only thing left for the Killer is to Kill so camping at end game is ok. Even pseudo camping is ok because the Killer isn't actually face camping just patrolling the gens with in the area or checking back at the Hook before moving on.

That is absolutely far too clunky and slow for most flashlight save situations that aren't already being orchestrated by SWF squads with communication. When moving to save alone in solo queue, especially repositioning while running, that cooldown impacts the ability to adjust the blind. Period. One YouTube video does not represent the whole of the game, especially when it's painfully obvious that this is a custom match.
Video games have photosensitivity warnings for a reason. There were other ways the macro flashlights could have been dealt with, and this was not it. The devs using the community as an excuse for this change instead of admitting that it's pandering to angry slug killers who can't handle flashlights and teabagging is egregious; expecially since accessibility colorblindness settings (which are far less of a safety issue) arrived far before now. It's incredibly convenient that this nerf is coming on the heels of BMing killer mains crying in droves on the forums about slug pickups and killer main streamers threatening to quit the game over hackers.
If you can't see it for what it is, then you're far more blind than a flashlight could ever make you.
I believe the term most Survivors are telling Killers about the Unbreakable Basekit is oh what's the term it's on the tip of my tongue......oh yes Adapt.
Just like with the new DH it will take time to adjust to the changes but it's not game breaking or horrible....all this did as many said took away Macro Clickers power away so if you want to blame anyone blame them because they are the root cause to this change and how they weaponized flashlights to harm players.

But like...if they really fear having seizures, DBD isn't the only game that would cause it
I don't care at all about this change, I'm just saying if you are playing video games, you're most likely not scared of getting seizures, and if you are, might be time to hang up the controller
Well that's because we as a whole feel that game developers will do things to midigate the risk of seizures but they might not be able to make anything 100% seizure free so hence warning labels to protect themselves from possible lawsuits.
But in this case we have players using macros to use flashlights in a unintended way. People call it "Having Fun" but many like myself have gotten headaches from the strobing light and that's what this change is to stop so people need to start blaming the right people, and it's not the Devs or people affected by seizures.

According to the patch notes, they still function as before. This is relieving, but also a bit funny, since they are the only kind of mori that can actually be used to remove "a particular survivor" from the game.
I wouldn't put it past a Dev to remove them just because of reasons though
-
@HeyItsQuiet said:
My favorite thing to do with my best friend on DBD is have flashlight arguments when we find each other in the match. We literally can't blind to save our lives and we aren't toxic to killers either it; we genuinely only bring them to be goofy on her stream.
I know it's a small thing, but it's one of the last things that was funny and enjoyable about the game.
The intended purpose of flashlights is to blind the killer or save survivors....all this other stuff that players say is "fun" are not the intended purpose and subject to change by the Devs to removed those unintended uses.
-
@Iron_Cutlass said:
I really did think the community would at least have some level of maturity, or have the ability to read a single sentence, but I guess the DbD community proved me wrong.
What exactly was changed?
- Flashlights are having a buffer time added as well as some other smaller changes to make the game more accessible to those with photosensitivity and epilepsy.
This is of course a good thing, it makes the game more accessible and available to all, but some people are upset that they now cannot click their flashlights. But overall clicking your flashlight had almost zero effect over gameplay at all for a majority of people, and this change will still have almost zero effect over gameplay for a majority of people. This change only effects a minority group, but it still is a positive change for the community and game.
Let's look at some of the common arguments I see against the flashlight changes:
- "Oh but there are other issues that cause seizures, they just hit flashlights on purpose," just because there are issues does not mean it wont be fixed, it takes steps towards making the game better, and this is just a small step forward. BHVR is known for rolling out changes over time instead of releasing everything all at once, just look at the map reworks from 2020-2021 for example.
- "Oh but people with photosensitivity or epilepsy should not play a game if they fear having seizures," people bring up this argument and not only is it insensitive but overall just proves the lack of empathy of others. People should not be excluded from something they enjoy because of such.
- "But they are catering to a minor part of the community," and who cares? It's more people playing the game, more people interact with, more people that can enjoy something they otherwise couldnt before. It would be selfish to not want these changes because you are admitting that you only want yourself to be catered to, and not anyone else.
If you are actually upset by the flashlight changes, as much as I hate to say it, grow up, go outside, touch grass, because these changes make the game better and allow more people to be able to play without health risks.
Very thought out and written thank you for that. I would like to add what if someone playing dosnt know they suffer from photosensitivity and seizures....then it's no fault of their own.
I had a friend who never had a seizure or any type of issues but also never was exposed to the right circumstances to cause seizures. But one day we went to a concert and in the final part of the show there was a pyrotechnics display and all of a sudden he collapsed on the ground having a seizure. Later his parents took him to the doctor and ran a few tests and found he was prone to seizures if exposed to certain patterns of flashing lights.....we have to think of the players who are affected by seizures but don't know it or have not been diagnosed
-
I'm worried about Meyers Sadoko and Pyramid Head will they remove thier special Moris too because by the standards they said as their reasons for the changes they should have their specials removed too.....

Yes very well explained, every person is a world so not everyone reacts the same and its good that the devs decided to change how the flashlight behave to reduce the potencial seizure if possible but obviously there are more things that could cause it, that why i advised it's not wise to play a game with this condition and of course someone with photosensitivity can play games but there is a risk and more if not being medicated.
Yes when people who suffer from seizures "Play at their own risk" but it's also up to the Developers of Games to try and midigate that risk to the players.
Now yes the environments have flashing lights and for the most part those areas are fairly decent in terms of Risk. But what was a major issue were Macro Clickers....that's not part of the game and serve no gameplay benefits but to annoy and cause issues to the players themselves. So the Devs are doing what they can to deal with that issue without totally nerfing Flashlights themselves.

People really out here unironically complaining about removing a stupid gimmick for the sake of accessibility. And about needing to adjust the flashlight, you could just get the timing right the first time.

Some survivors teabag because they feel the killer has played in a sweaty/toxic way and see it as a way of getting back at them; others teabag because they want to try and berate the killer and be toxic.
Likewise, some killers slug/tunnel/camp because from a game sense it's the best strategy at that point in the game; others do it to be sweaty and toxic (letting survivors bleed out, face camping and hitting on hook, etc.).
I will say, though: I think people make way too much of a big deal out of teabagging. Sure, it's a little petty/toxic but at the end of the day, it's just animation in a game. From a gameplay perspective, it doesn't inconvenience the killer or put the survivors at a competitive advantage in any shape or form. If it gets to the killer, that's more down to them allowing it to get to them. If it winds you up, just remember - it's a game, it's no big deal.
Well Slugging creates pressure. I slug one survivor chase a second and a third or 4th will come and help the slugged survivor. That slows down Gen repairs.
Camping and Tunneling when used in the appropriate circumstances is a find strat just not tunneling or camping at 5 or 4 gens heck even 3 gens has to be a case by case scenario.
But T Bagging Clicky Clicks don't use that as strats but just a way to get under the Killers skin
-
@Roaroftime said:
Hook grabs are also broken, either needs to be quicker for the survivor to unhook someone or hook grabs removed altogether to help punish camping.
Sadly they can't remove it because it's already bad enough with survivors doing unsafe hook rescues in the killers face that is to BT basekit that would only make it worse.
Besides unhooks are not supposed to be a guarantee when the Killer is there camping or not....I had times lately I hook a survivor and I didn't even turn around yet and they already went for the rescue....if I could grab to stop the unhooking I would but with the grabs being broken like this all I did was hit them and during the wipe down they ran off

Why would you say that these changes are killer sided? Also I do not see how the basekit BT buff was killer sided.
This is a very Survivor Sided change. Now Slugging strat to apply pressure is out the window the Killer perks that were changed are worse now compared to the Survivor ones that only benefit the basekit change.
Unless you play a Killer that can quickly get downs IE Bubba or Nurse then the quickly end the game is a moot point.
I was on the fence but after reading the changes fully and laying out who got what I came to the conclusion that this is more Survivor Sided than Killer Sided.

Rotten fields, playing survivor. Started the game uninterrupted on a gen next to cow tree for 50 seconds or so. Killer comes by. I loop around the cow tree twice, drop the pallet and lithe to a jungle gym. Killer drops chase. Chase was 27 seconds without the killer landing a hit. I go back to my gen which is 60% or so. As I'm finishing my gen 3 generators go off before I finish mine. I finish my generator, 4 generators done within the span of 20 seconds. Killer goes AFK.
Gen speeds are still an issue. I also had 2 other games with very fast gens today. I'm not great at looping but the game seemed to put me with very efficient teammates today and the games are a joke, can't even pip due to how quick the games go with the killer getting 2 hooks before endgame.
The thing is they made it so Gens take a bigger hit during a Kick and buffed Kick perks but nerfed general slowdown perks but never touched survivor perks that increase repair speeds then gave survivors a perk with the current chapter that increases Gen speeds more and it synergizes with another perk where if played right will speed through Gens like no one business.
I'm not good at hitting Greats but my average streak is 3-4 greats in a row and if I had full stacks of Tapps Perk (for the life of me I can't remember it's name) I won't have to worry about missing greats.

Ahem but if you notice you can't blink through most trees especially on places like Red Forest maps so with those trees that's where Nurse has to try and Mind Game the survivor, because we'll at that point it becomes a 50/50 split of the nurse gets the Blink Right. With rocks I would say the same thing I'm not Nurse main and need more practice myself so those are just my suggestions

That's one of the main reasons this mechanic is being tested. Killers will sometimes slug survivors until bleedout for no reason other than a power trip.
That's what I mean though I would get if it was a 4 slug grouping where the Killer won't leave all 4 Survivors but if the Slugs are spread around the map.
I have seen mobile Killers able to down everyone within 45 secs before but that's a extreme circumstance when nobody wanted to heal, but I digress the first slug would be ready to pick themselves back up while the Killer was on the other side of the map. Tbh giving a option after 2 mins slugged to instantly bleed out would be better than the game just ends.
-
I'm going to miss giving the last Survivor a piggy back ride to the hatch or door and letting them go....letting them run to either dosnt have the same effect because each time I did that they thought they put right beat me and were very salty toxic....

Defining both x and y (survivor and killer distance from the hook) seems key. I don't know if there are value that are working and can't be exploited one way or another.
Let's say the Killer Radius to stop hook progress 15 m. Same would be given to the survivor as well so if a survivor is within that 15m hook progress will continue. That would keep survivors from looping around a hooked survivor to abuse the system

How could have it been fixed? I don't recall a viable solution.
Put in a part where if there is another Survivor within x meters of the Hook the progress would continue. That would of stopped the abuse part of it.

None of them understood or wanted to do it, even if we were in a perfect line ready for bowling :(
Vommy Mommy is easy too, just aim up and spin in a circle while shooting bile. That usually tells them hey I don't want to Kill you just farm you.....same when I hook a survivor I motion to another Survivor to unhook them, then iblet the unhook and heal Infront of me

Not to mention getting rid of hook grabs means there's no way to stop unhooks and will increase the unsafe rescues.
