I like BBQ as a killer, it's a great perk, it tracks survivors and brings a huge BP bonus. Partially merging it with Deerstalker and letting us see survivors that are downed seems cheesy and unnecessary.

The purpose of BBQ is to motivate the killer from camping and tunneling and go after another survivor, it shouldn't help hooking downed survivors. Besides we have Deerstalker for that and BBQ makes it useless in many situations.

A BBQ nerf? What is this, 2018?

Just out of curiosity, since survivor queue times are long like before, What prevents you from playing killer?

For me it would have to be that at least 2 gens pop, usually around the first chase and I always seem to go against “good survivors.” It’s funny to me because when I play survivor (Solo) I always get the potatoes.

Also, this might sound weird but, How come most killers don’t feel threatening/scary? I always felt that the killer should have the upper hand. I really do think they need to give killers something to slow down the game by basekit. Maybe, after hooking every survivor once, all gens cannot be worked on for a certain amount of time, idk, something like that or give survivors an extra objective.

They should also look into the exit gates. I usually accept my loss after the 5th Gen gets done, I try my best to not play scummy but if I haven’t gotten a kill by the last gen, you bet your sweet ass I am going to camp the next person I hook. I noticed for you to at least to decently well as killer, you have to play sorta scummy. Slugging is a big one that killers have to do to slow the game down, this is another reason why I don’t usually play killer, what is yours?

I play survivor whenever. Early in the morning half asleep, after work when im tired, or at night when im drinking beer.

To play killer I like to be in the mood, well rested, ready to focus. Dont really have the urge to play killer after an 8-10 hour work day lol

He really needs a buff, I dont normaly play him but I played a few trying to get adept, won every one so far except last one, sadly they usually DC before last hook. Last game they played good but my shots literaly going trough survivors with no dead hard, lined up the perfect shot and it goes trough them.... top of the cake was when I hooked someone at exit gate and they were hooked but still somehow escaped.... survivor hitboxes should be where their body is!

    He needs two guns

Could we at least open discussion on an fov upgrade?? At least then we may not be completely blinded by tall grass

You mean you dont like getting 360'd in the corn and grass?

Hi DBD team! I really think you should look into this it is a new killer called springtrap from five nights at Freddy's and he has a map from five nights at Freddy's 3 and his backstory is that five kids mysteriously died by these animatronics and went missing but what people didn't knew is that the kids that died were stuffed in suits springtrap being (purple guy) put himself in spring trap for protection not realising it would take a life of its own and it trapped him in therefore killing him in the process but springtrap still lives on continuing the work that Freddy and the others set out to do... its so cool! I hope you see this and I hope you make it a reality here is a link if you want to see what it would look like❤ https://youtu.be/1PDADNNZo-U

That would not work because why should I play killer if the game is so much more stressful than a survivor game? I played arround 3500+ h as Killer and have switched to survivor because this game clearly is balanced around survivors (Gen speed, Perks) and on top of that toxic behavior from survivors. Nope... Iam out.

Cause then you could buy some sweet survivor skins after you sweated away playing killer lol

  • @JBWarrior said:

Ok... I would consider myself a good survivor and I despise spirit. Why? She has little to no counter play, all you need is loud sound a few hours and your top tier. I’m pretty sure I speak for my fellow survivors when I say she is maybe the best 1v1 killer. Please bring back the directional sound and make it so the scratch marks are non-existent. Really bring her back to Earth, or the realm

I imagine that people that make posts like these wouldnt be able to do anything against high ranked survivors if they were the ones playing spirit. They dont know how to counter her cause theyve never played her at high level

  • @batax90 said:

Because playing killer is a pain right now why play killer and sweat your ass when you can play survivor and watch netflix at the same time

  • @Yords said:

I am not sure if the devs have said anything regarding survivor queue times lately. They are insanely long most of the time either with or without crossplay and it doesn't really matter what time of day it is. It is so consistently long.

It is painfully annoying to sit there in a lobby for 5 + minutes each time and I am pretty sure it has been like this for months.

You can help by playing killer more. Thats really the only thing that would help. Game needs more purple and red rank killers

Looking back at the directional sound bug from the 4.3.2 (i think) patch, this should be tested proper if it actually balances Spirit.

I mean, a lot of players on both sides had said the bug made the games fairer, more interesting/challenging.

So why not test it thoroughly if making the sound directional changes anything in terms of the kill rate.

Im not sure if we need another test that directly benefits survivors only and nerfs another killer

Okay so, imagine playing a normal game of survivor on dbd. You get chased a few times, hooked maybe once, all the gens get done and you're still alive. Endgame begins, your team opens up a door as you're getting chased and you think you're gonna escape. But then you get downed instantly because of noed, get hooked and your team ends up leaving because they don't want the same happening to them. How is that fair exactly? You say decisive strike carries survivors, well I'm pretty sure noed carries killers. I've faced so many red ranked killers that barely know how to lunge, but get a 4k anyways because of one perk. I get that Noed can be cleansed, but totem placements are so dumb, you wouldn't know where it would be anyway without a map.

Lol you dont get to red ranks as killer without knowing how to lunge and by being "carried by NOED"

That's not really an answer to a problem. That's just ignoring the problem entirely.

I think some people just need to accept the fact that there are high tier killers in the game and the whole roster isnt going to get a 100% approval rating from everyone

I'm becoming more and more frustrated every time I attempt to contact support for any issue. From time to time, I have internet issues in the middle of matches and am forced to disconnect. When attempting to contact customer support, I was immediately sent an email saying there's nothing they "can" or will do to solve this problem and that I should fix my internet issues.

I CAN'T. If I could... I would. I shouldn't be punished. I completely understand the need for the punishment, but they're punishing players that have no control over this. Anyone else having similar problems/frustrations?

It does sound frustrating but they cant make an exception for you just because youre having a tough time with your internet.

Its just as frustrating for your teammates when you randomly lose connection to the match.

Anybody who plays this a good amount understands how easy freddy has it.If you want a win that bad, you pick freddy. super easy to use, powers are strong and simple. All freddy players ever do is bring the slowdown perks and combine them with slowdown add ons and get free easy teleports around the map whenever they want.

He also dosent get punished for how many snares he puts at a loop and can put them down on the fly.A super boring low skill killer. You could say " well just go wake up then and snares wont affect you". he is the thing, i play solo and trying to get that 1 person to help wake u up is a very rare thing, i dont know where that person is on the map.

also the clock on the map to wake up from is always like on the other side of a map, so u spend like over 30 seconds to run across the map, wake up, only for the timer to wake u up not long after you returned back to the other side you came from.Or 1 hit from a freddy and your back in the dreamworld.

its not even worth it, only if the clock was near by. If a doctor puts u in tier 3, it literally takes 10 seconds to snap yourself outa it, and u dont have to run to a clock across the map either. doctor also gets slowed down when he tries to use his shock power and he also has to TIME it correctly. thats just 1 example. DEMO can put his tunnels next to a gen but a survivor can actually counter it and take the time to break it. Again, freddy teleport has no counter at all, there is nothing you can do.

At the very least for god sake, make the fake pallets his base kit rather than snares. even if your in the dreamworld, u can choose to ignore a pallet you suspect is fake or take a risk. Snares you just place everywhere and anywhere at a loop, if you try to run through them, he catches you, if u try to run around them, he catches you, his snares dont affect him and he walks right through them.

OHH if your playing trapper though, one of the weakest killers in the game, hes not allowed to walk through his traps though, he gets punished, he also gets a slowdown for placing the trap down, unlike mr no skill freddy again. Its kinda like nurse in a way, the rules dont apply to them, pallets do almost nothing for survivors vers a nurse, and freddy gets away with everything while other killers have some sort of punishment and slowdown for their powers.

You dont even need to look at those stats to know that freddy is busted.Very very unfun killer to verse.Im not sure whats the best way to go about his snares, but replacing them with pallets would be more logical and fun to go against. why is pallet freddy even an add on anyway? why pick an add on which is harder to use then a base snare? or you can atleast add in a slowdown for freddy placing snares around. A big long rant im sorry, im just passionate about this game, and i think freddy would be alot more fun to vers and get more respect if he was actually balanced abit more fairly.

When you get frustrated playing against him, maybe take a break, switch over to killer, and dish out some punishment with freddy to get some revenge lol

Valid point, however if someone is low skilled player, going up rank won't really help them either if they progress and play against higher ranks anyway.

Youre a rank 12 killer that wants to face rank 20 survivors. My advice would be just to play kyf, or derank yourself to whatever rank you want to play against. I would feel so bad trashing rank 20 killers at the beginning of every month, and vice versa, Id feel bad massacring rank 20 survivors

  • @exelse said:

Personally I think that rank should reset to level 20 each month. I know, I know. Unpopular opinion, especially for SWF.

I play as a killer a lot, hence my current rank - 12. However playing against survivors who are ranked 10 and up is not fun for me at all. I don't think I have enough skills to play against higher ranks yet game only resets me to level 17. I think it would be more fun (at least for me) if each month everyone started from the same level and then progressed if skills allowed it. At the end of the day, if you're a good player (both survivor and killer) you will get your high rank if you're playing well.

Sometimes it makes me not play for long just so I can get my rank reset. Just so I can enjoy the game more. It shouldn't be like that.

If youre a rank 12 killer, I dont think youre going to have a good time being reset to rank 20, and be matched up with red rank survivors, who you also want to be reset to 20. Sounds like purgatory for low skilled players

  • I want Chewbacca to be the next killer.

  • @Zayn said:

It's common knowledge that Slinger is extremely unfun to go against. Most Slinger's run monitor and abuse so even if you're aware of your surroundings, you'll usually get shot before you even know he's there. Pair this with maps in the game such as Midwich and the Saloon and at most loops, he's able to shoot survivors over them and get easy downs multiple times.

Slinger mains will say that he's fair since he has zero map pressure but what they all seem to conveniently disregard is the fact that map pressure can come quick by getting downs.

You down a survivor -> One other survivor needs to get off gens to save -> Two possible survivors are on gens -> You go to a gen and down another one = two are healing, Another is down and the snowball pressure begins.

Slinger is extremely unfun to play against. I've been playing DBD for almost 3 years and never have we had a killer who can zone with their mere presence like Slinger can unless you count Spirit who can do it at pallet loops where the survivor has nowhere to run to.

Now according to Slinger mains, what are his counters?

"Just dodge his shot and make distance, he'll have to reload and then use his slow movement speed to catch up"

No that doesn't work at high levels of play. It only works against bad slingers who blindly shoot from a distance hoping to get a highlight for their Youtube montage.

    "Split up and do gens"

What a great idea! Not like it's the counter to every killer in the game and unfortunately in solo que, I can only do so much as one player, relying on my teammates to do gens efficiently is less common than seeing a Detective Tapp in my lobby.

    "Throw pallets earlier"

Sure, until he zones me with his presence resulting in a free shot I can't dodge because of his instant ADS and he reels me around the loop to himself.

"You're just mad we have another killer you can't loop for 5 gens"

No. Don't take this out of context. I want a killer that has an equal chance of outplaying me as I do of outplaying him. Not just being able to make me dodge by being there and then getting a hit no matter what I do.

TLDR: Slinger is a very boring and chase oppressive killer and this shines on maps like Midwich, Hawkins and the Saloon. He should be tweaked in a way where he actually earns his downs instead of being able to fake his ability with instant ADS and then get a hit anyways whether he shoots or not. I main Ghostface and have since his release at rank 1 and yes, I have played Slinger at rank 1 and found him very fun to play but just like Hag, I don't feel rewarded when I win with him.

"Please make everything B-tier. Im not having fun"

  • @Jay_Whyask said:

I'm going to try to be as polite as possible when I say all of this. Unbind your crouch button, if you're not being chased you should be repairing gens, if the killer is glaring at you hard enough so see the whites of your eyes running is better than hiding, you don't need to unhook somebody 3 seconds into their first hook each phase of the sacrificial process is 60 seconds long, if the killer is camping doing gens is better than immediately trading hooks, stop wasting your DS, stop complaining when the killer does even moderately well, if you're being camped trying to unhook yourself is literally the worst thing to do in that situation, if you get farmed yell at your teammate not the killer, if you're solo queuing use bond or kindred you need to know where your teammates are.

Mere words cannot describe how frustrating it is seeing rank 1 survivors play the game like they just installed it.

Sometimes its fun just to do whatever

Actually, back when I was forced to play on my Xbox to play with my friends on Xbox, most of the LFG posts were about "bullying killers" and "tryharding". Some of them even specifically asked for ranks 13+ (as in 13-20) in order to affect matchmaking.

Smurfing is just as easy on Xbox as it is on PC as well. It's literally the same process for both PC and Xbox. On Xbox, just make your Xbox your home Xbox and you're set. On PC, just family share and you're set.

"Hex_GGEZ" sounds like the type of PC player Id want to avoid lol

  • @Eleghost said:

I think everyone being able to crossplay with everyone is fine. Consoles aren't hindered a ton by playing with pc players. I would say killers are more hindered on console than survivors and that only goes for specific ones. Everyone should want to have fun in the game and some peoples versions of fun are winning.

Yea but there arent too many console players that make smurf accounts specifically for this game, or purposely derank in their optimized swf groups to match up with less skilled players

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Red rank killer (and survivor) here. The competitive scene of this game can be unforgiving. You win some and you lose some, but every now and then, human nature comes into play. I am 1 match into my current play session and I feel like getting off. Why? Because playing killer + toxic SWF = zero fun. I try to ignore it, and tell myself to just play for fun, but it doesn't work. If there is no chance of winning, I'm not having fun. That is especially true when sadistic people, who use this game as an online bullying tool, have to rub salt in the wound. When winning isn't enough for you, you've got a problem.

But my biggest issue is: where's the pushback? As individual players, all we can do is ignore the toxicity. Toxic people will be toxic, but maybe there would be less of them if they were at least told that what they're doing is wrong.

To my knowledge, the devs haven't said a word about unsportsmanlike behavior, despite the useless in-game report feature. Why not? Do they approve of it or what? Because frankly it's pushing longtime players, as well as new ones, away from the game. These toxic players, confident in knowing that their behavior is a back burner issue to the devs, if even that, is ruining this game and it's image.

So I say: If toxicity is wrong, let's hear it. Give us something.

Not when there are content creators with a million+ subscribers that specialize in toxic content like "making killers DC"

On console the game can jump while a skill check triggers and I'm forced to miss, or dead hard ect.

It's not just killer sided, but I do agree that it's frustrating.

Yes what youre complaining about is server latency, which both sides experience. Server latency and bad coding are two different things.

I mean rank doesn't really mean anything other than time spent at this point. Maybe at one point in time it did when there were things like actual infinites in the game but not today.

Those are just examples of bad coding on the devs part not poor balance.

One side having more "bad coding" then the other side sounds like poor balance to me lol

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1773597#Comment_1773597

This is inaccurate. You don't need to be mediocre, you can be god awful at either side and still get to rank 1. The solution to most of either sides complaints right now is just playing better. The game is pretty well balanced. Most people don't want to get better, they just want the game to get easier.

Isnt the percentage of red rank killers only about 10% of all killer players?

Survivor functions pretty well, maybe sometimes I get hit through a pallet or a window and I think "theres no way".

But every time I play killer theres always something like a missed grab animation, a downed survivor teleporting, or poor hit tracking.

Do you see what I did there?

Wow thats very intuitive of you lol, did you come up with that yourself?

Killers are pretty consistent with their complaints.

Survivor complaints are a mixed bag of however theyre feeling that day.

You can be mediocre at survivor and still hit rank 5, while mediocre killers would struggle to get out of green ranks, especially with the matchmaking system

IMO killers should not only be fun to play, but fun to play against and if people are willing to take dc penalties and depips just to avoid playing a killer as much as they do spirit then I think its time for a rework or some kind of change to help.

    Thoughts?

Something that I really appreciate about the game is hearing killer noises in the far distance. Hearing the Demogorgon's Shred screech in the distance was at the time, kinda scary and to a (very) minor extent still kinda is. It's glorious. You ended up following it up with another killer equally scary to hear roar in his demon form in the distance. I know it'd be much harder to do on some killers that really don't make loud noises themselves, such as Trapper whose loudest noise is survivors getting trapped but it'd be neat if you could find some loud noise like, idk, laughing, or something that you could hear in the distance.

I really love those sfx and it'd be great to figure something out that gives off that same energy for every killer.

Maybe survivors should just be given a mini map with the killers location on it at all times lol

  • @notlonely said:

Just as I see a new wave of users trying to motivate survivors to play stealthy, the game doesn't at all.

Even though I'm not a P3 Claudette main, I still enjoy playing in a stealthy way using perks as Calm Spirit, Iron Will, Fixated and Lightweight. When I was in lower ranks, I even managed to survive some games without even getting chased once. Problem? Playing stealthy implies you need to move unnoticed (unless you're going against Nurse). Many times moving to the corners of the map is useful while the killer looks for you near the generator. If you evade the killer once, or maybe twice, they will start to look much more closer. Although you do waste their time, you actually barely get any points if you're not being chased.

For example, a few days ago I was attempting Adept Zarina. The Bubba I went against wasn't really a pro gamer, and he fell for my Red Herring tricks every time, and I managed to only get chased once. What followed me getting the achievement was a depip, because the game can't know if I actually do anything to the killer. Same thing happened to me a couple times back when I was an Urban Evasion gamer.

In conclusion; the game doesn't actually reward stealth, at least less far than a succesful chase. Not to also count the mANY salty killers that just outright call people with this types of playstyles scaredycats. Stealth is viable, but it won't be anyone's main strategy without the support of many people.

Yes just what the game needs, more survivors hiding in corners and bushes doing nothing and stretching the game to 20-30 min

Of the 3 players mentioned here, are any at fault for a bannable offense, and if so, which of the 3 have broken any rule and could be banned?

Thanks for taking the time to help me.

    Normal 10-15min match

    4 gens are completed

    2 survivors remain in trial

Killer moves between the 3 remaining gens, finds survivor 1 and downs them and hooks them (2nd hook).

    Survivor 2 rescues #1.

Killer finds survivor 1 again and downs them. Doesn’t hook, uses them as bait.

    Survivor 2 picks up #1.

Killer again finds survivor 1 and downs them, doesn’t hook.

Survivor 2 doesn’t pick up survivor 1 this time (instead opting to continue the last gen) due to killer proxying even closer to downed survivor 1 as their life meter depletes near death.

Killer picks up survivor 1, doesn’t attempt to hook or let them bleed out, instead let’s them wiggle free, then follows them around the map (as seen by survivor 2 who has Empathy)

Survivor 2 meanwhile has been back to working on the last gen. Survivor 1 arrives with the killer. Killer chases survivor 2 with survivor 1 following the killer in the chase (instead of finishing last gen).

Survivor 2 is downed and hooked (1st hook).

Survivor 1 t-bags, points and nods at hooked survivor 2 with killer nodding back.

Killer repeatedly kababs survivor 2 as #1 unhooks.

Killer immediately downs survivor 2 as #1 t-bags over top of survivor 2’s body.

Killer rehooks 2. Survivor 1 again farms #2 who is then death hooked.

Killer does not chase or attempt to hit/down/hook survivor 1 anymore, as they find the hatch together.

Killer allows survivor 1 to escape.

EDIT: All red ranks btw, not sure if it matters or not

Im not sure this really needs the devs attention lol, and it is a reportable offense, but I dont see anything happening from it.

i'm sorry but for all the killer match i played in rank 1 not a lot use this tactic and when they do you just need to hit and run it's not that complicated

Whether you want to admit it or not, not having bloodlust 1 causes killers that need it to have even more chases they have to drop

Getting some credit for being a distraction doesn't equal a free pip. If they're getting face camped for a substantial amount of time then they're not going to get a pip unless they already worked on gens, were altruistic, and led the killer for a bit. If they haven't then it's a guaranteed de-pip. I don't see the issue with a survivor getting a bit of bp for holding the killer's attention. Again, they should only get credit for gen progress while they're on hook if they are getting face camped.

"Hex: Ruin is also a passive perk – killers just equip it, and reap the benefits, without much effort"

Not sure if you know, but the reason they nerfed ruin was because killers "reap the benefits, without much effort".

Being rewarded for being on a hook is the same thing; its being rewarded for doing absolutely nothing. Regardless if youre being face camped or not, its just a flat out bad idea to reward survivors for being on a hook, because youre literally doing nothing.

I don't feel like face camping will ever go away unless a mechanic in the game actively discourages it. A paused sacrifice timer for the survivor, some penalty on the killer (not their rank, but something that affects gameplay), a bonus to objective progress to other survivors (aside from the genrushing they can already do), etc. (Edit: What I intend with this post is not to say survivors need a buff when someone is hooked, and some people interpreted this post as such. I'll leave the original comment in, but it was meant merely to show examples of discouraging camping through gameplay, as opposed to my preferred solution which I discuss below.) So, unless something like that happens, I've come up with some food for thought:

Similar to how Survivors get credit for gen progress while they lead the killer in a chase, I was wondering how it'd be for survivors to get (at least partial) credit for gen progress while they're on the hook - Or perhaps points similar to the distraction points survivors can get if the killer is within a certain radius. This way, even if the survivor gets face camped from first hook, they would be a bit less likely to de-rank for a situation that was completely out of their control. Not impossible, but less likely. If the optimal strategy here would be for their teammates to just do gens and escape, they'd still be upset to have just been on hook and die, but now they wouldn't feel as burned for it.

What do you guys think? Good or bad? What changes would you make to this if you could choose how it were implemented?

You want survivors that are on a hook to get "credit for gen progress while they're on the hook".......?? They might as well just start giving you a pip before the game even starts if youre playing survivor lol

More needs to be done about hook campers. On both sides killer and survivors. A massive debuff should be in place or something

Insta heal, borrowed time, septic agent, hook sabotage, mettle of man, or DS. Im sure ive missed a couple options.

If a killer camps you on first hook all gens are easily done.

You get your pip while the killer probably de pips and logs off the game lol
