No it does not. If that was even remotely true, killer queues in regular mode would not be absolutely abysmal. If the survivors aren't playing 2v8 and they aren't playing regular mode, where are they then?
Incentive should be completely removed and put back in regular mode. Survivors are now playing BP farm aka 2v8, increasing that incentive won't change anything. 2v8 has larger issues and no incentive on survivor side is going to change that. Meanwhile regular game is suffering.
Queue times in regular mode don't change the fact that there aren't enough survivors in 2v8 to support the number of people queueing up to play killer in 2v8.
As for the queue in 1v4: People who play survivor in 1v4 have left to go play both killer and survivor in 2v8. For the first time, people who play survivor to play with friends can now play killer to play with a friend. So that's two things taking survivors out of 1v4.
You seem to be assuming that people who play survivor in 1v4 won't go play killer in 2v8, and that's just not true.

that's not exactly accurate. There's no shortage of survivors in this mode, it's just that there's a massive increase in people who want to play killer with a friend / teammate. The bonus is there to encourage those to play a few matches of survivor to help with the queue times.
The bonus is there to encourage those to play a few matches of survivor to help with the queue times.
Yeah, 400% isn't a good enough bonus to really do that, and playing survivor when you'd rather play killer only helps someone else's queue times. I've played survivor a lot in 2v8 but it doesn't help me at all when I want to play killer in 2v8. I can't help but be a little bitter about that when I've barely touched killer at all and, on top of everything else, three survivors disconnected during the loading screen last night and that stopped the match from starting, doubling the already long queue time for a single match.
Suffering through 2v8 survivor trying to give it a chance (and getting nothing but a paltry amount of BP for it, I can still earn more in 1v4), and trying to play killer but not really getting the chance, has me back in 1v4 or playing something else altogether.

That doesn't make sense. The fact that there are two makes all the difference in the world as they can coordinate and cut a survivor off during a chase, it doesn't translate back to 1v4 where there's only one of them. 2v8 highlights some issues in the main game, like how teammates who don't touch gens can throw the entire match, but in terms of how powerful killers are it shows nothing. I've seen plenty of killers get stomped if the survivors actually do stick to gens.
-
Killer is hard as hell if the survivors stick to gens. The match can be over really fast with the killers not really getting a chance to do much, which sucks given the long queue.
Survivor is frustrating because, just like in 1v4, the kind of teammates you get is a crapshoot. But, in 2v8, now you can have even more useless teammates. I've had a lot of survivor matches where no one touched gens, survivors didn't really help one another, and it was a miserable experience and we get stomped. If survivors actually do gens, though, that's about all it takes to get pretty much everyone out the exit gates, unless the killers are god-like.
It's survivor-sided if survivors bother to do their objective, but in my survivor matches the majority of survivors don't. As killer, of course, the opposite is true, it seems like all 8 survivors are in love with the generators, because isn't that always the way? It's just like 1v4 but the problems are magnified.

Is it the PlayStation site giving you the error code? That was the problem I had. I had to log in to the PlayStation site on my phone. For some reason the mobile site works and the PC one doesn't.

These game modes are beta tests. In one of BHVR's recent streams they said they'd be making changes to 2v8 with each iteration. They need feedback from players or else all they have are numbers. Data doesn't necessarily tell them the "why," just the "what," and it's a combination of those two things that help them track down problems in gameplay design.

Because your statements apply not just to you but to a huge number of other players. That's why the killer queue is long: everyone's been wanting to play killer as a duo and now they can.

That's how I have mine set up. Sometimes, depending on the event, I may mess with what button is used for "activate event ability," but otherwise this serves me well.

I'm really worried that killer mains are going to sabotage the new 2v8 mode and prevent it from becoming a permanent game mode because of their constant complaining about queue length. I say just give them full survivor bot games so they don't have to wait in queue anymore.
killer mains
You do realize one of the reasons the killer queues in 2v8 are so long is because people who are normally survivor mains who play with friends are queueing for it too, right? Everyone who's waiting in the long queues is unhappy about it, it's not about "mains."
I can't even figure out what you're taking issue with. You suggest filling the queue with bots, which makes it sound like you don't play survivor. But if you don't care that the queue is filled with bots, and you don't care that the queue is long, that also suggests you don't play killer. But you do want 2v8 to become permanent. So… huh?

The BP incentive is exactly that, an incentive. It's not a nice thing BHVR does "just because," it's to encourage people to queue up for the side that needs players. The killer queue is long because there are too many killers, so they're offering a BP incentive on the survivor side to get more people to play survivor.
Adding a BP incentive to the killer queue would make killer queue times worse. Is that what you really want?
-
basically any conversation I have as killer in 2v8:
me: "Hey, that survivor is a baby/god-looper/other."
friend: "Oh yeah, which one?"
me: "Uh, I think it was a Feng Min?"
friend: "Which one? There are three."
me: "Uh… the one with… um… hair?"
friend: 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
Both of us should actually drop chases more than we do. If a chase goes on longer than it should, we're more likely to be like, "Hey, can you come over here and hit this person for me?" "Sure, just a sec." Time management is important if the survivors are touching gens; it's a skill we need to learn, apparently.
-
@Zakon05 said:
The incentive is often at 100% for killer when it is enabled, though, and it doesn't stop people from playing survivor.
People would queue up to play survivor so they could play with their friends. A 100% killer queue bonus didn't change the fact that they wanted to play with friends and survivor was the only way.
Now, two friends can queue up to play killer, so people who normally play survivor are queueing up to play killer in 2v8.

Changing the mode 2v8 to 2v12 survivors

800-1000% BP bonus and double or triple XP.
If BHVR can figure out how to implement a "good teammate" bonus that stops medics from sandbagging injured teammates, gets teammates to touch gens, gets people to stop uncaging mid-chase, gets teammates to stop crouching around doing nothing and then slam a pallet in your face when you're in chase... oh boy, that'd be great.

Problem is though, even when they get ( I assume ) expensive licences the player numbers arent this high for this long. They introduce a mode and it rivals getting RESIDENT EVIL for the first time in player count.
So they have to come up with a fix.
I really dont like how we arent earning pips in this mode either.
So they have to come up with a fix.
Generators aren't fun or rewarding, so a lot of survivors shun them, and that throws the entire match. This has been making 2v8 a misery for me as survivor. However, if survivors actually do gens, it can be a fast match and then the killers don't get to have any fun.
The only way to fix that is to get rid of gens and come up with completely new gameplay. Something that slows the match down just enough while the killer is busy elsewhere but is fun to do but not so fun that survivors queue up just to do that and avoid the killer entirely... yeah. I hope BHVR's been brainstorming something because 1v4 is bad enough with teammates avoiding gens, but in 2v8 it's abysmal.
-

I completely agree. As I said in another thread, 400 isnt even insane because of no offerings. We were getting 600 during the event.
The solution is easy. Keep raising it until the stops. Even 1000% wouldnt be bad for the game.
Trying to convince them to give out bp is like my tightass boss trying to get him to give me a raise.
The problem in the long term is going to be how do they solve this if its made permanent. They might do 800+ since its only a few weeks, they wont do it fulltime.
The problem in the long term is going to be how do they solve this if its made permanent.
It's not going to go permanent in this state. This is a beta test. They'll keep making changes with each iteration, and it's not going to go permanent if people only want to play one side. Without players on both sides, it's a lobby simulator, not a game. Worse, it can mess up queue times in 1v4, making it a detriment to everyone.

There's no killer queue bonus because the killer role is popular. You get a bonus for playing the unpopular role.
If you increase the killer bonus, then more people will queue up as killer and even fewer will queue up as survivor and then your queue times will be an hour or even infinite. You can't play as killer if there are no survivors. If the queue time is bothering you, play as survivor: getting into a 2v8 match is instant.

@Chiky said:
yes please! i dont understand why they had to complicate things instead of doing what everyone was expecting...
They actually de-complicated the game. Part of the skill as killer in 1v4 is keeping track of 4 survivors each with 4 perks, so 16 perks total, trying to learn each survivor's strengths and weaknesses and keeping track of their perks. There's no way for a person playing killer to do that with 8 survivors in the match. And two killers doubling up on perks or not being allowed to double up on perks also gets complicated with 4 perks each, and survivors trying to figure out what 8 perks the killers are running…
Not to mention survivors not knowing what perks their teammates are running, not knowing who to go to for heals, not running perks that help their teammates at all…
Trying to balance the mode around 8 killer perks and 32 survivor perks in each match would be hellish when they're still trying to balance for 4 killer perks and 16 survivor perks in 1v4.
-
I wish survivors would pay attention to their role. I went over to a couple on a gen to get healed. The guide let go of the gen and healed me while the medic kept working.
It's a common problem. Very few play to the role they pick, and I swear half the survivors picking medic do so to run at injured teammates while in chase, and no one wants to be guide because everyone runs at the red gen auras in a chase. People do the same "lone wolf" garbage playstyle they do in 1v4.

Massive survivor shortage? I am watching top streamers with thousands of viewers and the majority of survivors escape every match. Maybe yours is a l2p issue
What? You're not making sense. You watching streamers has nothing to do with there not being enough survivors playing in 2v8. The killer queues are 10-30 minutes long and survivor queues are instant because everyone wants to play killer and very few want to play survivor.

The game would have to use a points system where you earn points towards a priority pass by participating. Of course, if the game were that smart maybe we'd have a decent matchmaking system where players who participate get put with other players who participate instead of getting 2 or 3 teammates who stealth around the edge of the map from minute one waiting for everyone else to die.

The sense of killer entitlement is real. You're saying you want to relax and just goof around with your friend as killers, and STILL expect to win. Killer mains got way too used to devs catering to them for years, now the tables are turning.
They didn't say they wanted to win, they said they wanted time. They waited in a 20 minute queue, and when they finally get a chance to play and have fun the match is over before they can do much.
2v8 is a mess. I try playing survivor and no one touches gens, the matches are awful. Play killer and now you find where all the gen-hugging survivors are. It's the same problems of 1v4 magnified.

That's why there's 400% bp for survivors.
Yes, I meant they'll need to go further. 400% is not enough, as current killer queue times prove. Every time I attempt 2v8 survivor, it's miserable and I don't last more than a few matches before turning off the game. I would like to play killer, but it's not reasonable to wait in these queues.
Idk why they thought actually balancing this mode would be a bad thing.
These "game modes" are basically beta tests. They're not finished products by any means. Plus, it's hard to balance a mode where 6 out of 8 survivors don't touch gens. BHVR would have to replace half the survivors in matches with bots.

I not asking to remove survivors BP bonus to play 2v8, but hell… queue time as a killer is insanely long and we don't have a incentive at all to play as a killer, like... 30+min to find ONE match that will take around 10 min to be done, seriously? Find a match as a survivor is fast, so the problem is lack of killers playing and we receive nothing to play as a killer, what's the point to try play a new and fun game mode if I can't find a match to play?
I really trying to play this game mode, but it appears that you can only play this game mode with 10 friends.
Edit - find a match as a trapper take around 10 to 15 min for me, find a match as a huntress... Take 40 min and I give up, maybe will be nice if we have a expected queue time for the killer you pick to have a estimative for how long gonna take for you to find a match.
Find a match as a survivor is fast, so the problem is lack of killers playing and we receive nothing to play as a killer
That's the reverse of how it works. I recently explained it on a different thread, so I'll post a screencap of it here:
I'm describing a long survivor queue there, but the same principle applies to killers. You're having a long killer queue because there are too many killers and not enough survivors.
That's why the survivor bonus is 400%: there aren't nearly enough survivors to match up with the number of people who want to team up as killer.
Here's a game dev stating the same thing:
@Mandy said:
This is due to the extremely high volume of players who want to play as Killer in this mode, we've increased the survivor incentives percentage in order to try to balance this out a little bit.
So, rather than a bonus for playing killer, we seem to need survivors to get even more than just a 400% bonus.
-
One way or another these matches as survivor are miserable and it's getting worse the more I play. I'd rather have bots as teammates, that's how bad it is. The 400% bonus isn't worth spit.
BHVR should actually pad this mode out with bots. I want to play killer, but the queue times are too much. Meanwhile, survivor has me wanting to recommend this mode never ever return. There's nothing BHVR can do to force people to play as a team, not even encouraging roles works.
-

After a few games as survivor this mode just isn't fun… It's more of the same and if enjoyable was what they were going for they missed the mark survivor side as usual.
A mode with 2 killers is for killers. The fun is on the killer side. There's not much you can do to make survivor fun when you can get hit by two killers in one chase. BHVR is most likely going to have bribe survivors to play 2v8.

They warned first thing that the performance on Switch is awful and not where they want it to be but they were going live with it anyway. I haven't even tried the mode on Switch, I used cross-progression to merge Switch with a PC account and have stuck to playing 2v8 on PC. 2v8 only uses free killers.

This happened to me as well. First try as killer in 2v8, I queued up as Hillbilly (on Epic) and my friend queued up as Trapper (on PS4). When we got into a lobby, I was Trapper and he was Wraith. The game wouldn't allow us to change characters.

"Holding the game hostage means that one side is preventing the other side from doing their objective while at the same time not advancing their own objective."
Hooking is explicitly stated as the killer's objective. You are not advancing your objective when you let people bleed out.
https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/04XOBC58QBV1/image.png
Leaving one survivor on the ground while chasing others is considered slugging, this is obviously not taking the game hostage nor a reportable offence.
Note how body blocking is on that same list, yet it's bannable when used to hold the game hostage. You're focusing on the bit that you think backs up your argument and ignoring an important part of the statement, that holding the game hostage means the one being held hostage has to disconnect or wait for the game to time out at an hour. Bleeding out has a definite end to it, you die at four minutes. I showed you the developer's statement in my post in which he said "It's only considered to be holding the game hostage when it's indefinite or for an extended period of time."
I've been held hostage in matches more than once. It's pretty rare but it really sucks when it happens, and if you don't disconnect it can go on for a very long time. Bleeding out is a slight inconvenience, both in general and especially in comparison.
-
On Switch, I think I now have over 260k shards. Which is good, since I'll probably use them to buy some of the characters that didn't transfer with cross-progression rather than spending money on repurchasing the chapters.
I never buy things on the shrine. Usually I spend the shards on cosmetics, though obviously I'm kinda picky.
-
Unfortunately, not a bug. If you pick yourself up with No Mither, it also deactivates Plot Twist.
From Plot Twist's description: "This perk deactivates if you recover yourself by any means."
I think it's so you can't put yourself on the ground over and over again, otherwise someone with No Mither could do exactly that. Plot Twist can be really good at juking a killer in a chase if you break line of sight.

My question still stands, what qualifies as "holding a game hostage" if "leaving all other players in a state unable to do anything to impact the game for 4 minutes, when you are fully capable of winning the game at any time" does not?
Holding the game hostage is a reportable offence, that is not interpretation. It is listed as an example of griefing here: https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/articles/4408586278676-How-to-report-a-playerYou are misinterpreting what "holding the game hostage" is.
In this thread I'm about to link to, the original poster tried to call slugging taking the game hostage. A dev came in and said that delaying the game for a few minutes is not holding it hostage (for example, survivors can only struggle on the hook for 2 minutes; by the same token, a survivor can only be slugged for 4 minutes before they bleed out and die).
@Peanits said:
Struggling on the hook is not taking the game hostage, first of all. It's only considered to be holding the game hostage when it's indefinite or for an extended period of time. The longest you can stay on a hook is 2 minutes (+34 seconds if you happen to have Camaraderie).
Beyond that, nobody is allowed to take the game hostage. Whether that's survivors crouching around in corners refusing to touch generators to drag on the game for half an hour or a killer blocking someone in the corner and refusing to kill them, it's reportable either way.
Holding the game hostage means that one side is preventing the other side from doing their objective while at the same time not advancing their own objective. The person/people who are being prevented from doing their objective have no choice but to disconnect (or wait for the match to time out at one hour) to leave the match. That's holding the game hostage.
Edit: I should point out, in that same FAQ you linked to, one of the other links in the sidebar is "Invalid report reasons." Simply looking at that would show you that "Slugging" is an invalid reason to report a player.

Not afraid to admit it. The game should have always been balanced around hooking survivors instead of kills. There's no shortage of killers who will tunnel one survivor out and have an easy win because there's no real catch up mechanics in the game.
By punishing scummy behavior where the killer just decides, no this one survivor can't play the game or have fun. You make the game drastically more balanced and fun for survivors. And the best part is that killers who are actually good at the game and don't need to tunnel won't notice any difference.the best part is that killers who are actually good at the game and don't need to tunnel won't notice any difference.
What?? What game have you been playing?
In my killer matches, when one survivor decided first thing they wanted out and forced it on their first hook, that extra gen getting done meant nothing. In the matches where I double hooked everyone, it'd get down to two gens left and I had to slug everyone before I could kill otherwise it was an automatic win when they popped the next gen.
Same problem as survivor. This bug never helped me once in any of my survivor matches when the killer actually tunneled. The time it came in handy was when two people forced themselves out against a friendly killer, so me and the other person left didn't waste a year of the killer's time doing four gens to get out.

I wouldn't say it's super common, but it certainly happens. I haven't tried playing the game yet since installing the hotfix today, and some patches/updates bring more issues than others. I just "Report problem" and move on. If it happens again today, I'd open a bug report on the forums.
If it happens multiple times in a short span, I'd definitely stop playing until the next update, otherwise you risk a long ban penalty.

Yes, that's normal. PlayStation takes forever to do some updates as it makes a copy of the game. It also means you need to leave a lot of unused space on the drive or else updates can't install.

There doesn't seem to be a "primary" when it comes to what you own. Everything is shared except what's bought in the Nintendo shop.

Anyone who's having problems with cross-progression should open a ticket:
Submit a request – Dead by Daylight
People on the forums can't help you besides asking questions along the lines of "Did you try turning it off and back on?" It's even the same for mods, they can't do anything but ask basic questions and point you to the FAQ. For real help, you need to open a ticket and give them specific information like your Cloud ID and platform types and all that stuff. They'll have to take a look at your account.

I didn't tell you you had to stop. You can use your energy and your limited time on earth however you like (within legal and physical earthly limitations, or course). It's not hurting anyone, so if posting about how to nerf SWF teams is what makes you happy, then go for it.

From the numbers I saw from bhvr themself it was almost 10 %. So I'd say it is an issue because the aim is 60/40 and that is not matched in swf statistics.
Saying that swf does not offer advantages is a pretty bold statement considering the amount of information that is shared via voicecall. Swf and toxicity in dbd are problems and pretending they are not while numbers tell you different is kinda a confusing hill to stand on.
I was prepared to be attacked by people not ready for an open discussion though.BHVR has said repeatedly they won't punish people for playing with friends. That means no treating them differently from solo players. You can write ten novels about all the different ways you'd like to chain SWF and tie their thumbs back, or even suggestions about gently encouraging playing solo with small BP incentives, but none of it will make it to the game. People are telling you it's not worth discussing for your benefit, so you don't waste time and energy on something that has already been discussed a million times before and simply will not happen. BHVR will not treat solo and SWF differently.
What BHVR is willing to do is make changes that help solo players without greatly affecting SWF and then go from there. Changes like they did with the HUD, to show what your teammates are doing.

If you synced accounts using the cross-progression option , they can't be unsynced.

I dont want to sound rude and frankly I dont even have this platform so you could say I dont have to care but...
Damn 4500 shards for owning all DLCs or many DLCs and to have to rebuy them again if you want crossprogression? Thats it?! So if someone spend like 100$ on dlcs And now has to buy it all over again..the compensation is just single 4500 shards? This is rock bottom of Marine Trench guys, seriously. Big bruh moment and I am disapointed.
I feel bad for Nintento switch players atm. Not cool. It should be at least 4500/per DLC you own.

You have to make the duplicate purchases before syncing up, too. If you sync up and then do the purchasing you don't get the 4500 iri shards.
Edit: The source for that is:

the 4500 Iri Shards is a one off, no matter how many DLC's are included and it's for the whole DLC.
It would need to be done before the sync goes through not after.Edit 2: Oh, cool. Now it's per DLC and the instructions when syncing say it includes purchases made after syncing.

Hopefully that means I'll get compensated with shards if/when I purchase DLC I already purchased in the Nintendo Switch eShop… ?
