  • Back when I bought the game on Switch, BHVR had been saying 'Cross-progression about to be on Switch. All your DLC will be available to you across platforms."

I bought the game based on that information. I bought DLC based on that information. Now, everyone else gets that benefit except Switch.

I'm ######### pissed. Given that they sold the Switch version with that promise, this feels actionable.

Please reread all, and let me emphasize ALL of the words in all of the posts and try to figure out if there are any parts of the exchange you are missing (a paragraph beginning with the phrase "Question, if I don't..." is incredibly key to understanding this whole exchange, and nothing you have said thus far has suggested you have read that part of my post, which was actually the core point I was getting at)

It doesn't seem like they directly answered that question.

Anyway, you originally asked, "Please explain to me what other possible interpretation there is here?" which was in response to them saying, "Please try to actually read the post, your reply doesn't make any sense, at all." And the post they were referring to was:

It's quite weird some people believe slugging prolong the game, but the fact is, survivors do and absolutely will camp in the hatch for 10 minutes

Most of the time, going for 4k ends up faster

So, going directly by the words used and the posts quoted, you were asking for how else that specific post could be interpreted. And I told you how I interpreted it. The rest of the exchange between you two isn't even part of this. You're complicating it. I'm not going to put words in Neaxolotl's mouth or try to interpret the deeper meaning or sentiment of what they said.

You asked how else those two sentences could be interpreted. I responded. You've added new stipulations. I should have said as much when you added "I'm talking about the interpretation of the entire exchange," because that was when you expanded on the question you asked to include more than originally expressed.

I didn't interpret what they meant the same way you interpreted it. So it can be interpreted differently. How exactly Neaxolotl meant it, only they can say. I'm not saying I'm right. I'm saying I personally interpreted what they said differently.

I'm talking about the interpretation of the entire exchange, that is to say:

They say: "some survivors engage in this toxic behavior, therefore any survivor criticism of killer behavior is invalid"

I say: "I don't engage in the toxic survivor behavior you mentioned, am I allowed to offer criticism of toxic killer behavior"

They say: "well some (i recon most) survivors still engage in the toxic survivor gameplay so no"

I was hoping my drippingly scathing phrasing would cue you in to the fact that I was criticizing the shockingly narcissistic attitude that I percieved as the only possible way of interpreting the sentiment behind what they said: that they think, so long as killer players have complaints about a certain element of gameplay, that survivor complaints about that aspect of gameplay are invalid.

It's frustrating, because your "alternative" explanation for what they could have meant is solely a nitpick on what specific survivor behavior they think disqualifies all survivors from being allowed to have an opinion, not that the quintessential interpretation of what I think they said is wrong. Your reply kind of reinforces my point; if the only alternative explanation is that they think survivors aren't allowed an opinion because of a slightly different gameplay style than the one I assumed, I'm forced to the conclusion I really wanted to avoid: that some people on this forum simply are so biased that they think that they're allowed to invalidate one entire side's (representing 80% of the players in any one game) opinions because an entirely unrelated survivor player did something they didn't like. I'd hate to believe such a person existed as anything other than a strawman. Please help me figure out where my logic has gone wrong

uh, jeez. That's a lot to process when, to me, what they said seemed a lot simpler.

Neaxolotl said that the final living survivor will waste time for no reason, which wastes the killer's time. If the killer's going to lose time and points, then the killer's better off going for the option where they lose time but earn points (in other words, going for the 4k).

You in return gave a very long response to what they said which seemed to have little to nothing to do with their original statement. So Neaxolotl said "Please try to actually read the post, your reply doesn't make any sense, at all"

I also didn't see them say anything that suggested survivors aren't allowed to have an opinion. What they said is "You may be different, doesn't matter when majority is not." All that means is that, while playing DbD, players base their decisions and actions on what the majority of other players do. What I as an individual survivor do and what you as an individual survivor do doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things if the majority of survivors play differently. We base our general tactics and decisions within the game on what the majority of people do. As an example: If I'm playing killer and in my experience the majority of survivors hide in the corners of the map, I'm going to go check the corners of the map; you telling me you personally don't hide in corners isn't going to change my behavior.

But I don't know. I now feel rather confused because I read what they said completely differently from how you read it, apparently.

  • @ratcoffee said:

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3753027#Comment_3753027

I don't know any way of interpreting this other than "no, because I dislike it when survivors hide any survivor opinion on killer player is invalid"

You used your complaints about survivors hiding as rationale for why complaints about slugging are invalid.

I asked if I'm allowed to complain about killers slugging for the 4k if I don't engage in hiding as a survivor.

You said it doesn't matter if I engage in hiding or not. By implication this means that no, I am not allowed that opinion.

Please explain to me what other possible interpretation there is here? Because I know, I just KNOW nobody would be so brazenly narcissistic as to claim that their opinion trumps all others, but I simply cannot come up with any other interpretation of what you've just said. Please help me out here

Please explain to me what other possible interpretation there is here?

They said: "survivors do and absolutely will camp in the hatch for 10 minutes." Personally, I thought they were talking about the same thing I talked about in my earlier post: the last survivor alive sitting on the open hatch for 10+ minutes teabagging waiting for the killer to come over and see them escape.

    That was my interpretation, anyway.

  • A few matches ago, playing solo, I went against a Legion. Immediately the three survivors threw. I tried saving one off the hook in case it wasn't what it looked like, and she ran away from me and straight back to Legion to be put back on the ground. The match hadn't been going for a minute when they decided to throw. Not knowing what to do, I just walked towards the three bodies lying on the ground and Legion saw me and without hesitating put me on the ground with them and hooked us all.

I'm really not sure what to do when I'm playing solo and the other three decide to do something like that. I usually try to stay away while anyone's still on their feet, but if all three are on the ground at the same time I usually say "whatever" and just try to get it over with quickly.

  • Why even bother queuing up if you're not even going to play?

If you ever find out the answer to this, I'd love to know.

I get so many teammates who come in and hide from the very beginning. Most egregious recently was one who kept crouch-walking from the basement to outside behind some rocks and back into the basement, over and over again, from the very start of the match. She had a cutesy name which, if I'd been able to read the tiny print before the match, I probably would've dodged her because she stated pretty plainly in her name she plays to watch her teammates die quickly. Prestige 20-something, she was just tanking matches for the hell of it.

I'm so tired of this garbage. I don't understand why people do this when it's basically not playing at all, and it's such a boring thing to do.

You have yet to make any good argument as to why I should throw myself before the killer just so I can make sure I get Evader points. This is not a survivor problem. Its a game problem. The Evader emblem needs to be reworked so that its progress happens more naturally. It happens naturally to an extent, but if I do 3+ gens and escape without ever coming in contact with the killer I shouldn't be punished for that.

I shouldn't be punished for that.

But you aren't punished. You can't de-pip anymore, so you're no longer punished for going against a killer below your level; you're just not rewarded for it.

There are three types of rewards given in each match. There are Bloodpoints for performing actions. There's XP which is a reward for your time spent in the match. And there are Emblems which reward playing in a manner that takes not just yourself but your teammates and the killer into account. If you play in a match against someone at your own level, the emblems happen pretty naturally. If you play against someone below your level, it doesn't happen naturally because you're stomping the killer and it's not going to give you a pip on top of the easy win. The emblem system doesn't punish you for bad matches with a de-pip, but it also doesn't reward people who tank their MMR on purpose for easy wins (and some players do do this, it used to be a huge problem).

You got Bloodpoints, XP, and a win out of the match you showed a screencap for. You didn't de-pip. Three different rewards for that match and no punishment.

  • That's a perk called "Flip-Flop" and it comes with Ash.

  • Maybe I should add, I know that the key add-ons use the "Use Item" button. That shouldn't matter. If you're standing on the hatch and the ability to open the hatch is an option, the survivor is not trying to use the add-ons. Whether I'm trying to heal myself (with Self-Care) or another survivor, it's the same button. Whether I'm trying to heal myself or another survivor with a medkit, it's the same button. So whether I'm trying to use a key alone or at the hatch, it is expected to be the same button. Because of all that, this seems like a bug or an oversight rather than intended, because if it's intended it's not intuitive.

Yep. Exactly this. People keep looking past the point I was making. I was the player progressing the match. I wasn't trying to hide from the killer. It just didn't happen for most of the match for me. You get Lightbringer points for running the killer while others are doing gens if I remember, so why can't Evader work the same way? Seems like a very one sided system.

Because the game doesn't feel the need to encourage people to interact with gens, and whether or not survivors do interact with gens doesn't affect the generators' gameplay experience. The gens aren't players. Just like people say tunneling survivors is different from gen-rushing because survivors are players and gens aren't. The killer matters in that they're a player and the game wants you to interact with the opposing player.

It's not a single player game, it's not a gen repair sim. Sitting on a gen hitting skill checks isn't difficult whereas keeping the killer busy in chase while gens get done does take skill. Pipping is supposed to mean you had a challenging match and did well. I don't see how a match where you never saw the killer could be challenging enough to be pip-worthy. I've had matches where two or three survivors came in with the intention of messing with the killer, and they kept the killer busy the entire match while I did gens and the match was definitely not challenging for me.

You just proved my point. The category is the problem. Not the player. There is no argument to be made that makes any sense for a survivor to stop doing a generator and run to the killer just so you can hide in their terror radius for points in a category. In fact that is gameplay sabotage because getting Evader points in this regard does nothing but put the team at risk of being eliminated since its one less survivor progressing the match. Like really think about what you're saying here.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3752033#Comment_3752033

Gens are necessary. Altruism is necessary. Unbroken happens naturally from literally avoiding the killer, and then Evader punishes you for it. It makes absolutely no sense at all. There is no logic or reason to hinder match progression to gain points in Evader if I just so happen to not have the killer chase me during the match. Perhaps in these situations, progress in the other emblems should count towards progress in Evader. Even still, altruism doesn't always happen a lot for every survivor. The point is, this emblem's progression is problematic and forces survivors to play the game in an unnatural way in this situation to gain progress.

The point is, this emblem's progression is problematic and forces survivors to play the game in an unnatural way in this situation to gain progress.

Needing to play the game in an "unnatural way" shouldn't be a common situation because you should be facing killers who are challenging, and a challenging killer will require you to interact with them.

The pip system is structured to reward you for playing against opponents at your level. If killers stomp survivors who are way below their level and don't present a challenge, the killers' pips also suffer. Because why do players need to be rewarded with a pip on top of an easy win?

Edit: I do agree with the earlier sentiment from someone else that long chases should be rewarded. I actually thought they already were rewarded, and I thought killers were penalized for long chases. Sometimes it's hard to tell with this game's black box of an emblem system, though.

Last time I complained about something that seemed like a bug but was by design (they removed the hot key to accept a SWF invite, why would devs do that on purpose?) they just closed it and I had to create a new post in Feedback. This seems along the same lines of "you devs did this on purpose and it makes no sense."

Are you on low mmr? As my experience been different most killers do bring cakes and survivors. There are sometimes maybe one killer or survivor bringing selfiss cake but other than that it's been good. Everyone been getting solid bp expect few off matches here and there.

I had one match on killer where survivors brought only 1 cake so I did that match bad time for them and tunneled/camped. I let the one with the cake escape. So that can be also reason why you matches are bad as many killers including me get angry if we don't get cakes.

Yeah, I'm in low MMR hell. Teammates leave each other to die on first hook, I'll go multiple matches where I get teammates who hide in corners and don't touch gens (some of these survivors are prestige 20-something, which really ticks me off). In a lot of matches the killer can and does 4k at 5 gens, in which case a lot of times the amount of points another Cobbler would give me is less than the cost of a single Cobbler much less enough to net me another Cobbler (which, on survivor, can take a lot of points since I can go multiple Bloodwebs without seeing a Cobbler). Sucks.

  • This stuff makes me worried about cross-progression and connecting my Switch account to a PC account if/when that becomes an option. Playing on Switch sucks, but losing all the time and money I've put into it is the one thing I don't want and it's why I haven't just switched to PC. Losing it because I connected it to a PC account would be devastating.

  • It's been a long time since I had a hacker crash my game. I was playing on Switch and the hacker was mad I was ignoring them and being friendly with everyone else, so they kept doing more and more and the Switch couldn't handle it and crashed.

Bullying a killer on Switch who's already dealing with performance issues and is mostly goofing off. People need to get a life.

Anyway, it can happen, but I don't think it's common. DbD's servers are known to have issues (and support likes to tell us 'nuh-uh, it's on your end'), so it's more likely due to that.

  • @CountOfTheFog said:

I rarely play a game where all 5 players bring one. I just had a match a little bit ago where only me and the Killer brought one. It's been hard to grind without my teammates offerings stacking.

Most of my matches see only two Cobblers at most. A killer brings one maybe half the time. I have a lot of matches where the survivor who earns the least gets between 2-3k and the survivor who earns the most still gets below 10k, so it's not surprising no one's burning them.

    @TheArbiter said:

Curious how much grinding people have made with cobblers on their characters, I'm hoping to hit 1000 with Dwight before the end of the event

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/Z33147DDCFCT/screenshot-2848-29.png

I spread my points around and keep my main survivor purposefully low so I don't get targeted. I don't put many points into killer because I don't play killer as much as I used to on PS4 and don't play killer at all (except for challenges) on Switch. I get a couple Cobblers on each killer and stop. I'm happy as long as I have one or two of each event item on every character as a memento.

  • If my friend or I play solo, we seem to get more casual killers. Seem to get higher-MMR teammates, too. Not necessarily good teammates but they'll usually have prestige, four tier-3 perks, and some game knowledge.

Then my friend and I play together, we get hardcore 4k-at-5-gens killers and teammates who are potatoes. I don't know what is wrong with the MMR. Playing together doesn't mean we play better. We meme. We die a lot. Our matches always stay about the same.

I still prefer it to playing alone, though. I like having someone to play the lute for me while I get gutted by a Tombstone Mikey. Or someone to high five after I run into a friendly Mikey's swing and force the Tombstone. Or someone to discuss whether or not this Mikey staring at us is tiering up for a Tombstone.

There've been a lot of Tombstone Mikeys, lately.

The problem I have with the Evader emblem is that its too situational and circumstantial to be an emblem category. If a survivor has a match where they don't interact with the killer very much they shouldn't lose out on points because of that. The evader emblem should probably be replaced with something else or be reworked to gain progress from other ways than just killer interaction or being near the killer. Survivors shouldn't have to follow the killer around to be in their terror radius for points when its more valuable for the team to be progressing the match.

Lightbringer rewards progressing the match. Altruism rewards helping your teammates. Unbroken rewards protecting yourself. And Evader rewards interacting with the killer, whether that's actual chase or just being in his terror radius. The killer is the opposition. I imagine most people don't play survivor to sit on gens, they play it to verse the killer, and only one emblem is even based on killer interaction.

Reaching iri 1 is the best it's ever been since we can no longer de-pip. I suck at survivor and even I'm iri 1 right now. If getting even a silver in Evader is a consistent problem for you, then that's an issue with your playstyle. If it's not a consistent problem and it's just this one match where you feel robbed, well, we all have matches like that with all the emblems. I hate getting to the end of a match and seeing I was a hair off in one emblem from getting a pip.

I wish we could see our emblem progress within the match. That would help a lot.

Good take, I forgot that items don't apply to killers lol, but it takes like 2-3 levels max to get a cake in your bloodweb if you're REALLY unlucky; most just keep them for when the anniversary ends, which is bad because the bloodpoints they will get from that cake will not be able to be used to buy even more cakes, and I think that's the most devastating part about cake hoarding.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3751547#Comment_3751547

I clearly mentioned in my original post that after the event, everyone should get the bloodpoint bonus, because you can't get cakes after the anniversary event ends (ofc).

As soon as the anniversary ends, that should no longer apply, so players can bring cakes and everybody benefits from them after the event.

I think people that don't bring cakes during the event just to hoard cakes for after the event ends is boring, unfun, makes the grind for everyone longer, and there will be less cakes after the anniversary event ends because everybody who cake hoards leaves less bloodpoints during the event for more cakes.

For example, today I played a match as survivor where 4 cake offerings were brought and ONE (1) White Ward, and at the end of the match, it was revealed that the survivor who brought the White Ward didn't even bring an item.

That example and others who bring Survivor Cakes and brown offerings shouldn't receive more bloodpoints for trolling people who try to reduce some of their future grind like I am. That's what this whole thread is about: trying to lessen the grind and have fun during matches.

the survivor who brought the White Ward didn't even bring an item.

That's not that unusual. It could mean they forgot to take the white ward off, or it could mean they're trying to collect event items from within the match.

  • I always use the Recent Discussions page to see what threads are new/active. I think it shows all categories. I've always been kinda baffled why more people don't use it, as it's always the link presented most prominently in the site navigation when I look at the forums on both PC and mobile.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussions

  • Being across the map from the killer and not being found isn't considered skillful and thus pip-worthy. I would play that way sometimes when I first started DbD, and after a while I realized that was both boring and devoid of skill.

If you spend time in the killer's terror radius without being found, you get evader emblem points for that. I've gotten iri evader emblems while hardly ever being seen by the killer not by stealthing on the other side of the map but by being stealthy near them.

I've said for a long time that emblems are one of the many band-aids in this game. BHVR designed a game where they hype up "Oh, we like players to have agency!" so players can play however they want. However, to try to get players to play in a way that's fun for other people in the match, they created emblems. If all four survivors stealth around the opposite side of the map all match and avoid the killer, that's boring for the killer, so the emblem doesn't reward that. If someone gets hooked and you let them die, the altruism emblem suffers.

In other words, BHVR designed the game so you can play however you want. But if you're interested in pipping up, you have to play in a way that takes the other people in the match (even your opposition) into account.

  • I've seen this happen with three survivors left.

It's maddening. Something needs to be done, this has been a problem for years and it feels like it's gotten worse. Especially since I see some survivors play this way from the very start of the match. The game doesn't punish people who don't participate, even though it's designed so that the entire game falls apart if survivors don't attempt the objective.

  • Here, I see a lot of people say "3k is a win."

In a match, I get a 3k, I go AFK to let the last person get the hatch, and I come back 10 minutes later and the match is still going. I went to find out what the hell once, and found them teabagging on the hatch. After that, whenever I give hatch I just stay AFK because I can do whatever I want anywhere in my house while if the survivor doesn't just leave they're the ones stuck in the match being bored and possibly destroying their poor finger joints.

The "bad winner" behavior doesn't change the way I play, personally, but it's not a surprise killers put so much effort into a 4k when many survivors go out of their way to insult for a 3k. Am I saying all survivors do that? Am I saying you do that? No. But it happens. I see it a lot when I play survivor: I'll be waiting because I want to see the killer's loadout until I finally give up and move on.

Mercy is often not rewarded, but a 4k is rewarded with extra Bloodpoints for no one escaping. If there's no Bloodpoint reward for mercy, and many survivors themselves don't reward mercy by doing something as simple as leaving quickly, then why is there an expectation that killers should be merciful?

  • Get Tome challenge progress, get this error, lose all progress made in the match plus any Bloodpoints earned.

I'm so tired of this. We get punished multiple times over because their dedicated servers hiccup.

  • Slowdown and progression perks were a mistake, imo. The gens themselves should have been balanced for each individual killer. That could mean the gens being slower to repair against some killers and faster against others, that could mean killers having what is currently a slowdown perk built into their basekit, or that could mean the killer having a secondary objective. Instead, we have a war between slowdown and progression perks/items and it's boring. The gens are the least interesting part of the game, yet so much focus is put on them because they can determine the length of the match.

There could be so much more leeway with killer powers. BHVR knee-capped themselves by using perks as band-aids for problems in the game.

Yeah, it's kind of hidden, but I've opened a lot of tickets with them so I have the URL handy lol

The option to submit a request is buried on the page; it's the button just below the large "Can't find what you're looking for?" text.

  • Have you opened a support ticket? Unfortunately, they can take a few days to respond, but maybe since yours is about wanting to give them money and not being able to they'll be faster about it.

    https://support.deadbydaylight.com/hc/en-us/

  • I like to troll back. I run Plot Twist, so if the killer is slugging, I put myself on the ground right in front of them. Good times.

Really, though, don't dwell on it. The great thing about bleeding out is it requires no effort from the survivor, the match will be over in less than 4 minutes. If the killer is slugging, I'm off watching a YouTube video, getting a snack, or playing on my phone. Idle games like Cookie Clicker or Animal Restaurant are also great for those I-got-a-few-minutes-to-kill-while-I-bleed-out matches. Or have some flash cards handy; a few minutes here, a few minutes there, you can learn a new language.

Basically anything is a better choice than letting yourself be upset about it.

  • like how the knight can pick what knight they want on the ptb

Many of us are not on the PTB and have no idea what you mean by this.

  • Neither side enjoys it when the other side plays efficiently to win. That's how DbD is unfortunately designed. The best most efficient way to win is usually not considered the most fun way to play. Ridiculous, eh? I don't even like it when it's my own side, as I don't enjoy tunneling, and I also don't enjoy sitting on gens doing fudge all else.

So, the problem is DbD's design. Telling players they should play with a self-imposed disadvantage doesn't work. Even if the ones who hear the message listen, that still leaves the majority of players who will never hear that message because really, most players of a video game aren't active in the game's community.

It would be nice if we all played casually. I play casual. I run a useless lazy BP build as killer. I'm running with Lute, Pebble, Plot Twist, and Plunderer's as survivor. The majority of killers I face? They're not interested in my casual, they find me cleansing a totem or opening a chest and I play my lute and I'm an easy mark; they focus on me instead of the ones actually doing gens. If they're playing to win I can't necessarily blame them for that, though why they're on me and not paying attention to gens is a mystery, but, and this is the funny thing, the killer gets rid of me and my friend early in the match and is then surprised and dismayed when the other two survivors just give up and want out. Not joking, I've witnessed it after dying with more than one streaming killer. They wanted an easier match and got it and they still weren't happy. lol

So, yeah, this is DbD, the game where no one is ever happy and everything is a monkey's paw. People enjoy winning but the gameplay to get to that win is often not fun (at least for many), but if you play casually you're all but guaranteed to lose and whoever the opposing side is they often try to make the experience of losing as miserable as possible.

If they forgot to bring a cake, they'll remember to bring one after not getting the 432% bonus bloodpoints from their last match, and Anniversary Cakes are 2k bloodpoints; are you trying to tell me people don't have 2k bloodpoints to spend on a cake?

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3749675#Comment_3749675

Sure, that's good but it's not enough and no one knows about that.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3749664#Comment_3749664

You're right, personal bloodpoint offerings shouldn't exist, it's not fun for anyone, but that's not a valid excuse. It's an Anniversary event; if you bring a personal bloodpoint offering during an Anniversary event, you're just an #########.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3749456#Comment_3749456

    Useless opinion.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3749543#Comment_3749543

Absolutely, I think it's necessary to have protection for those offerings too, but the "anything good" part doesn't work when cakes are 2k bloodpoints.

    https://forums.bhvr.com/dead-by-daylight/discussion/comment/3749467#Comment_3749467

This argument sort of makes sense but still you can just get more cakes.

    no one knows about that.

Yeah, I didn't know about Cobblers doubling event points for the burner until I tested it. I am baffled as to why it's not in the item description or at least in the event write up.

no, i dont and i did get them when they were base perks but they got added back quite a bit ago and i've prestiged characters after they were added again and they seem to be fine which is what is confusing me

The character keeps whatever tier you got for the perks while they were general pool. Now that they are no longer general pool, though, they won't show up on Bloodwebs until you regain access either through purchasing the characters or buying the perks on the Shrine.

  • Do you own Steve and Nancy and have them at Prestige 1? Those are their perks. The perks were in the general pool for a while, but now that the Stranger Things characters are back the perks are no longer in the general pool, which means owning the characters (or purchasing the perks on the Shrine) is required.

  • Actually, players who burn a Cobbler in event mode get double BP for some event stuff, like finishing a gen, hooking on an event hook, grabbing a party totem, and probably opening an event chest (I haven't tested that last one myself). You have to burn the Cobbler yourself to receive double the points for the event stuff.

Thats not logically sound tho, if I can crawl away to a point that you can no longer find me, you made a bad decision and should have hooked me.

I should be rewarded for denying you a sacrifice by suffering for 4 minutes, you shouldnt be rewarded for making a bad decision

I usually don't go back looking if someone's crawled away. I'm fine with survivors bleeding out if that's what they choose. I go find the hatch and wait on it. Some survivors crawl to me. Otherwise, I close the hatch when the survivor bleeds out so I get the BP but don't trigger Adrenaline if they're running it.

Your main issue here is if you use the d-pad, you have to take thumb off your movements stick, or take your other hand completely off your aim and buttons in order to reach and press the d-pad input with your right hand thumb. Maybe on PS5 you can get away with claw handing the D-pad with your left hand, but on Xbox this is simply not possible….

In a game like DBD ensuring you keep moving is extremely important, otherwise you lose distance just selecting your spells, which you simply can't afford.

Maybe something could be added on top of the existing system to allow you to bind buttons for Vecna powers… PC players I'm sure would love being able to bind and tap 1, 2,3 4, for the different powers… but the standard mechanism has to stay either way.

I wasn't trying to take away anything, just add more options.

I lose a lot of time and distance opening the spell screen and trying to select the spell I want (which, because of the analog stick's diagonal input usually takes more than one attempt at selecting the correct thing). The option to use just the d-pad without opening the spell screen would make Vecna a lot more playable for me. As is, I finished his achievements and am not encouraged to touch him again.

I play a lot of games where you have to change a weapon or something in the middle of the action, and that requires taking your thumb off the analog stick for a moment and quickly tapping a direction on the d-pad. Works wonderfully for me. Again, the option to use either the spell screen or the d-pad according to the player's preference would be wonderful, and it shouldn't be difficult to add.

  • I've seen people talk like the person playing the opposing side is their opposition in real life and not like we're all people playing the same video game together. It's mind-boggling. If I'm playing survivor, the person playing killer is not my enemy, but try explaining that to some of the people in this community and they'll double down like we're in an actual war.

So often, instead of saying "they're playing to win," "they're playing for an achievement," it's "they're ruining my match." Everyone wants to punish others for doing something they don't like. Survivors hate killers, killers hate survivors, survivors hate each other. And some of it is definitely BHVR's fault. Like BHVR could create community challenges that foster a sense of community and working together towards a goal, but instead their "community challenges" are souped-up log-in targets. They could create an event that doesn't increase the animosity between killers and survivors, but instead they give killers tools to hook and kill faster while survivors need extra time to gallivant around the map to get the good rewards. BHVR's event design enhances conflicts between the roles instead of softening conflicts for a more casual experience.

So many people take this game too seriously, they take everything that happens personally, and they see every loss as a slight against them.

Not everyone in the community is like this, of course. There are plenty of perfectly fine, reasonable people to converse with. The problem is the reasonable people are not the loud people.

Survivor voicelines are for the person playing only. Killer voicelines can be heard by all.

Killer voicelines can be heard by all.

The killer voicelines can actually be different for different players. I play on Switch, my friend plays on PS4, and we'll both hear Pinhead talking but he'll be saying two different things.

Not important or anything, just an interesting detail I've noticed.

Not arguing because I'm genuinely curious if that's been explicitly stated somewhere. I've honestly thought wiggle should be eliminated for a long time regardless of hook respawns, just because it serves no purpose in the game on a fundamental level. A killer would rather slug than carry someone to the basement/indefinitely. I don't see those things ever actually happening anyway, so wiggle is useless either way. More than anything it's just something for a surv to do while they're on the way to die so it's not empty time.

I'm genuinely curious if that's been explicitly stated somewhere

Yes, it has been explicitly stated:

    @Mandy said:

Wiggle escaping is not meant to be easy. The mechanic is there, so that the survivor has a chance to wiggle off, but not a guaranteed wiggle off - there's perks that can help and also team work, if someone sabo's a hook, runs Breakout etc. But as a stand alone mechanic, it's meant so that the killer cannot get someone to the basement every single hook and has to think about where to hook the survivor.

  • I would love it if whoever has the belief that "backpacks complete an outfit" would grow out of it. There are so many cosmetics I will not buy because of those awful backpacks. Making them a separate slot would work for me, because I'd almost never use it (Haddie's diver suit is the one exception), but it would probably create a lot of clipping issues unless the backpack is only allowed on the original outfit.

For a game rated "Mature" this obsession with backpacks screams middle school mentality.

  • The only time, where his scamper was really a free hit, was when survivors camped behind the pallet

In the live game, I've been trying to get the "Joke's On You" achievement done, and in my experience a survivor camping directly behind the pallet is completely safe. His scamper forces me to keep running in a straight line past the pallet, I'm locked into that, and once I regain control I cannot do a 180 or even a sharp 90-degree turn. It's maddening. I need the survivor to act in a very specific way after dropping the pallet to get a hit, and any deviation from that means they're safe. It shouldn't be "Counter his power by doing practically anything, and get hit by his power by doing this one wrong thing." That's the opposite of how it should work.

I'm absolutely miserable trying to get this achievement done before he gets nerfed even more. I can't even get survivors to farm with me, they drop the pallet and run away before the stun is up (and I'm running Enduring). Or they do what I said and just stand in front of or directly next to the pallet. It's amazing how horrible and useless his scamper is, now. I played for hours yesterday and got two scamper hits.

I can't imagine myself ever playing him again after this achievement is complete. I was planning on buying him on Switch when he went on sale, just to have him, but hahaha no, hell no, this is so bad I don't want him even for completionism's sake.

  • From reading this thread, no good argument has been given on why this combo needs a nerf.

Part of DbD is learning perks. That is a large part of the gameplay, that is a large part of learning how to counter the opposition. The fact that many players are stubborn and refuse to play the tutorial, refuse to read patch notes, refuse to read perk descriptions, is not a reason for nerfing something. It goes beyond solo players. I've watched streams with SWF teams who completely misread what's happening because apparently none of them can read a perk description.

Players can find out immediately if Weave Attunement is in effect, they can counter it easily, and if they don't carry around an item Franklin's is also rendered useless. In this case it's crazily easy to counter half of the killer's perk loadout if you read perks and think about it for even a second.

I've seen it suggested that after an item has been on the ground for 60 seconds its aura should be shown to any survivor within the aura-revealing radius, and that I think is a fine suggestion because some items can be damn near invisible.

Spirit does fine with iron will.

Spirits who had trouble with it were not good at tracking scratch marks/footsteps and often used stridor to counter it (before Iron Will negated it).
This will only raise the ceiling for Spirit, and cause people to improve with her

     tracking scratch marks

I don't play Spirit, but I would like to know how I'm supposed to track something that takes multiple seconds to appear and sometimes doesn't appear at all. Scratch marks have only gotten worse over the years.

I have no contribution to make about Iron Will affecting Spirit, because I never see Spirit. It's almost like she doesn't exist. I stopped playing her when they removed collision in phase, and since then as survivor I've seen her less and less. During this event, I've seen her one, maybe two times. That's it. Not even exaggerating, I see her about as much as I see Twins.

    @GreyBigfoot said:

I must be the only person who hasn't seen a Spirit in weeks/months.

Like, 90% of her players seem to have stopped after she was no longer a top-3 killer.

Ah! I'm not the only one who never sees her! Yeah, she's practically disappeared from my matches.

  • Ghost Face is the killer I see most often when I play survivor. There'll be days when Ghost Faces make up half my matches.

So… I kinda wish he was more underrated so I could play against a wider range of killers. 🤷‍♀️

You're acting like somebody dodging the lobby when they're see you're anon is some great inconvenience when it's just not.
We're both waiting 5-10 seconds for a replacement, what a tragedy.

Actually, you're greatly inconveniencing the poor player who gets shoved in your spot. Dodging messes up the matchmaking by "backfilling" the lobby. BHVR has stated the matchmaking replaces the person who left with whoever it can grab quickest, disregarding MMR. Backfilling causes horrible matchups leading to unfun matches. No one can stop you from dodging a lobby, but don't pretend it has no effect on a match other than players waiting a few more seconds. Lobby dodging affects everyone in the match long after you leave.

Right now, people in the lobby have no information about the killer. If you give them any information, even just "anonymous," then people will think it's important information simply because they have access to it and it's the only information they have. It will create meaning where none exists, the same way survivors are judged by their prestige despite how meaningless it is.

There's no reason to give players extra information that has no bearing on anything so you can justify ruining other people's matches because of a correlation that exists in your head.

  • That's ridiculous. I'm on PlayStation, I keep anonymous mode on because I can't change my name. I don't play toxic, I just don't want to be harassed or have my name in someone's YouTube video or anything. Judging and dodging players, both killers and survivors, because they use anonymous mode is ridiculous. No one wants to be obligated to turn off anonymous mode just to not get dodged.

I get lots of anonymous killers who play just fine and lots of unfun killers whose names are visible.

I'm gonna play the devil's advocate here and say this: if you don't like bleeding out (I'm assuming this is mostly because the killer slugs to combat the hatch) then don't crawl away into some far off corner or the basement. Which is more important to you, not bleeding out or the small chance you get that hatch?

Someone who crawls to a far-off corner or the basement doesn't want the hatch, they want to 1. deny the killer points, and 2. deny the killer any achievement or Tome challenge they may be attempting. Bleed outs do not count for kills when it comes to adepts, the new Vecna achievement, kill survivor Tome challenges, etc. It's a choice made out of spite, as the survivor is both unhappy they're slugged and also ensuring they remain slugged for the full four minutes.

Ever since it became possible for killers to close the hatch, it is so rare to crawl to the hatch and escape I could probably count the number of times it happens in a year—to anyone within all the matches I play on both sides—on one hand.

I have over 4500 hours in DBD and having an extreme hard time finding items that has been dropped by my teammates.

A lot of maps have multi level structures or floors, tall grass or a lot of rooms. That's a very, very large area that you have to search blindly in SoloQ.

Therefore, my suggestion would be that after about 60 seconds of dropping the item, it will be highlighted via an aura for everyone who comes into the area of weave.

Therefore, my suggestion would be that after about 60 seconds of dropping the item, it will be highlighted via an aura for everyone who comes into the area of weave.

Personally, I like this suggestion. After a bit of time, if you're within the aura-showing radius it highlights the item just like Plunderer's does.

What would really help is if they made community challenges not compete for a active challenge slot

That, and also the challenges shouldn't cap how much a player can contribute. With DbD's community challenges, it's less about players being challenged and more about the number of people who log in and select the challenge. Grabbing two invites? Anyone can do that, and it hardly feels like participating as a community towards a goal when you can't contribute more than two.

When I play other games, and I play in single-player mode but I can contribute endlessly to the community goal, it makes me want to play more knowing I'm contributing, and even though I'm playing alone there's a sense of working together with other players. It's nice, it's a nice feeling. DbD community challenges don't create even a smidge of that feeling, and I'm playing with other people.
