I ran into that too. It gave me some weird error code and gave me no experience despite ranking me up and giving me bloodpoints.

I couldn't find where they said the whole event, so I was bit surprised I saw 4 new perks for 1500 shards.
And because yesterday was the last day we got free shards, I assumed 1+1=2 😅
Huh? I got free shards today myself. But yeah, I feel like the stream implied the shrine thing was only for a week, I might have misunderstood, though.

Yeah and i'm doubting that you could actually beat anybody above purple rank without the use of NOED. Or you would probably just need to be an insidious basement bubba based on your pfp.
I have beat plenty of red ranks before even getting to end game just by focusing on easier survivors. The red ranks usually only get out to hatch or something if they manage it.
That is the problem with any team based game. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link. You know?
-
Not going to lie, so many beginners guides recommend tinkerer and pop, but I just run Ruin only because, well, yeah, I more or less agree with you. The chance to get value of of these is too limited, at least for me with that baby game sense.

Honestly, Bubba is the go-to Killer for when the game itself screws you over, and when Survivors are toxic arseholes.
Sadly, I find the latter being the case more often than I'd like.
He is such a safe pick. You can play honest and at the first sign of disrespect, well... *licks jagged teeth

I am not sure. I do not keep track of who is who. I was mostly joking around since you said crossplay reduced the issues for you.

Asking both sides to set aside their pride is basically asking them to stop playing. In a game like this, it's impossible for the competitive aspect not to take over in people's minds, especially since it's such a loop. Survivors bully a killer, that killer goes onto bully survivors, who then go on and bully more killers, etc. There's no way to solve this problem unless everyone in the world just becomes zombies who do everything the same way with no emotions.
I prefer the term apathetic, and yes, that is how I do it. I do not care if you bag or click lights. Whatever. I will play nice for the match out of good sportsmanship, but if I have a sacrifice challenge, well... Once those gates open... Someone is staying go keep me company. I don't care who, but I do get oh so lonely with all these hooks and no corpses to hang on them!

I have it opposite, ranking and piping as survivor is too easy.
But I would make it for difficult for both sides. Too many in red ranks who dont belong there (me included)
It literally doesn't even derank me when I am first caught and kill myself on hook to find another game. Like, what the actual? It just freezes me in my rank. I am just ranking up by playing despite being one of the worst survivors you will have ever witnessed.

Its kinda funny that people actually believe this. It's like the new survivors that come in complaining about how OP Trapper and Pig are.
If you want to know just how bad Nurse really is, go watch competitive DbD. Yes, it exists, yes, it's pretty stupid when people take it 100% seriously, but it's well worth a watch when they don't.
I mean, I understand that people who master her power can get hits basically whenever they need to. But at the same time, I COULD survive against Nurse IRL if she was forced to M1 because I walk faster than that. Rofl.
Her movement speed HAS to be some old change they made to cater to whiny survivors. There is no way it was always that way. No way in hell. I mean, it might have been, I don't actually know. It would shock me though.
-
I want to emote as a killer too, please. My only option is to just stand there, menacingly.
-
Freddy is my favorite killer in the game. I genuinely do not understand the hate. I read a LOT about this subject and tried to look up videos, but most people just boil it down to "old Freddy was more fun" and that's that. I mean, I feel bad they lost him, but at the same time, I do not want to lose him either. So welcome to prime time!
-
To be fair, if they got rolled despite having borrowed time and DS, like... I accept the report. A player that bad deserves to take out their aggression the only way they know how, being a lil snitch.
-
Well, as a console player, pretty sure turning off crossplay would only subject me to more of this nonsense. Ha ha ha...

I do wear only the pride charm, but I doubt it was for this reason.
I doubt this as well - Probably not worth mentioning honestly. This is also why I hated the fact that BHVR added representation in game because now people are just going to worry about this or use it as an excuse etc.
P.S. - I'm gay and I don't say that out of "hate"
As for your game - Being honest here as a biased killer player - You said you do 4 gens while they slugged the other survivors? Do you hide most of the game? Were you never hooked while the other 3 survivors were? Honestly if I have those games where I'm dumpstering 3 survivors and there's this 4th survivor who is hard to find I will spare one survivor if they sell out their teammate because I genuinely hate immersed / hiding players. They're boring and put too much pressure on the other 3 survivors and I hate dealing with that as survivor so I will pretty well do what your killer did.
It's not about winning it's about sending a message.
If I ever met a survivor come out to help me find the last one, I would do the same, but usually they both just hide and the one time someone did come out to do gens, they surrendered, but after making me wait 5 minutes, I was just ready to end the game. Lol.
Don't think they were trying to help me as they did not approach with some teabags or something. They were just on a gen and immediately dropped their item as I got closer.
Personally, they need to come to me if I am to get the clue that they want to do something weird. If I find them, I assume it is the standard gameplay loop.

I disagree with the general consensus that he is fine. I think you're right that he is too strong. Wraith is currently my least favourite killer to go against barring Spirit and Nurse. It feels like you are going against a Killer that is cheating. I know this is a contentious matter but this is just my honest opinion.
What about him feels like cheating though? The lunge speed?

Killers are not here TO make sure you have fun. Grammar aside, that is pretty clear. This event managed to bring out the biggest trash that plays this game. The amount of tunneling and camping has increased abnormally since the start of the event, and it is a sweatfest. Feels like every single killer doesn't have anything going in his life other than feeling realised because he managed to win a game on DbD, which is probably true. Yet I still haven't seen a single key, not many flashlights, not many people teabagging or bringing abused cheap perks, on the survivor side. Killers? It's all tunnel, camp, NoeD, Spirit and sweat. This community is gross.
Don't worry, I ran into plenty of try hard survivors to make up for the both of us, unfortunately for me.

Survivors ALREADY play this way WITH hatch in the game. My entire issue with hatch as a mechanic is that it incentivizes this very behavior.
Hatch doesn't suddenly make survivors worse at hiding once they've decided completing generators is too difficult, therefore with or without hatch, survivors are wholey capable of holding the game hostage for 40 minutes.
Hatch exists for the killer--to prevent he killer from holding the game hostage--not the other way around.
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2338212#Comment_2338212
I genuinely cannot tell if you enjoy playing devil's advocate or you truly believe a game is incapable of motivating players towards certain actions.
While killers need a system in place to prevent them from taking the game hostage, an accelerated Idle Crow system in late game would fair far better than hatch, with regard to moving the game towards its end.
However, BHVR values player agency over player experience, so such a mechanic would never be implemented.
I just want to say, you are entirely correct. These people are either trying to gaslight you, or too inept to see the problem. Either way, no idea why they feel so passionate about their opinion that is essentially a "nuh uh."

Wait, so there was a massive overflow of about 2 million crowns that don't count for the next 3 challenges, but can't be 'newly' collected again, so just got wasted for the purpose of these challenges? That seems like a terrible design - most of the people actually unlocking the crowns were going to be frontloaded at the start of the event. If they were going to handle the event like this (and only count freshly unlocked crowns instead of counting anyone interacting with the crown pedestal, regardless of unlocks), they needed to immediately give out the charms as soon as 500k was unlocked and start the next challenge then. They just burned a bunch of unlocks at the time that most people would be actually getting them.
Those face camping killers knew the truth, they were just trying to halt challenge progress! I think we all owe them one big apology.
-
I mean, I have had 3-4 survivors put up cakes and the gen rush me. No idea why, but I stopped using my cakes as a result. I will just save them for when I need to farm BP for a new release in the future or something.
I am not saying we need to farm, I am not much of an old McDonald myself. But, like, you know we could triple or quadruple 20k points instead of 10k. Right?

One thing I really hate as survivor when after getting unhooked, killer comes back little bit later and the healthy idiot that unhooked me doesn't take a protection hit or just hides and killer goes after me again.
Yeah, as the killer, I always feel bad, but it's like, I genuinely do not know where the unhooker is and I see the guy who was just on hook. I would be nice enough to chase the other guy if he was around. Without him, I guess its time to "tunnel."

NOED. End game is SO much more satisfying when they don't cleanse it. Totally worth the risk.

It's a great map but when you try to play Billy or Bubba or Blight on it, it's horrible lmao
The only time I played there I was Leatherface. Got the 4k, but I was really only playing as an M1 killer the entire time except when the borrowed time save came out.
-
There is no game without the survivor community. If they want to gen rush, so be it. Move on to the next one.
-
You know how it is. Camp genrushers, you lose. Might not even get the one kill on the person you guarded.
Camp people obsessed with unhooks? Easy 3k, maybe even 4k if you find the hatch first.
-
I thought Hag was free. I started with her. Huh...
But anyways, Twins and Blight have the most unique powers, imo.

@VexTheHex said:
Most of the cast can be frustrating.
Spirit - Usually super sweaty and toxic players using this easy 4K machine against solo and casual SWFs. You don't really feel like you have any choice in how you go down, she is in full control.
Wraith - His super lunge and super speed has made him very oppressive for solo and casual SWFs. I never thought he was as bad (still not strong, but not awful) as people claimed, so I feared his buffs would make him a major pain... he is. Most Freddy players using their easy mode machine seemed to have jumped onto the Wraith bandwagon.
Hag - I use to main her back in the old teleport stun days. Now she has eaten YEARS of buffs without really any nerfs to her. She is insanely strong and has huge snowball potential. Sadly I cannot stand playing her. Most Hags still use overpowered add-ons, perks, and strategies combined on her for easy games. Whenever I see a Hag placing her traps around a hook, I know it's time to bail on the match cause it's basically over.
Plague - Annoying sounds and noises. I don't enjoy hearing my character barf and cough over and over and over. I feel her lore, her model, and her theme are brilliant. Sadly I think her game play is pretty obnoxious on the Survivor side and pretty meh on her end.
Nurse - Bad Nurses and Good Nurses are boring to face. Either they don't even land a blink or they have everyone slugged at 4-5 gens. She is only fun to face when the Nurse is mediocre.
Blight - Basically a not as hard and not as overwhelming Nurse. Bad and good ones aren't enjoyable just the same. Tinkerer and Blight is really annoying. I dislike him overall, including his lackluster design. I actually hate playing him, might be my least favorite Killer to play actually.
Freddy - Thankfully that tiny nerf sent his legion of players elsewhere. His kit is overloaded. Some of the most toxic players in the last year were also Freddys from my experiences. I'm talking about the type to leave people to bleed out till the very last second then hook them. I mean it isn't that shocking the pedophile character attracts some odd ones.
Bubba - The King of Toxicity. Part of his issue is latency where he lands his OHKO on you when it looks like total and utter BS on your end. Then he face camps you. My hatred for him has decreased some, but I still usually expect a horrible match when I see him.
Susie - Now Legion isn't exactly my favorite to face and is probably on of the main flop designed killers to be released. But they are rare enough at this point that I don't actively hate them a lot, and I have actually faced some really cool Frank players over the years. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for Susie players. I think some of the most personal BM and flaming I have received has been from Susie players. I do not like her. (and find her over rated)
Doctor - Similar to Plague where I love the package that is Doctor, but his gameplay is pretty annoying... especially if you are unfortunate to face him on a small map or he's the player to set up a 3 gen from the start to drag the game on... and on... and on. He's fun to play though.
Pig - A killer designed to spread pressure on a caught Survivor with the bear trap to focus on other killers... to typically be played as a hardcore tunneler most of the time. And if she is failing, she can just pretend to be one of those "boop the snoot" Pigs that kills you anyways. Not sure why so many praise the booping when it's usually just used to get a free hit or down by the majority. I don't really find anything about her interesting and actually loss more interest in her once I looked into the actual character... who is pretty underwhelming.
This is the second time someone implied I was a pedophile for game related reasons. I am kind of shocked it happened a second time to be perfectly honest. First guy was a nut job. At least you kind of, sort of have a reason. Lol.

So you have never seen Chris during his depressed alcoholism stage, huh? Not as exciting as the Boulder, but just as important to the consistent characterization of Chris we know and love.

Survivors teabag each other to say "thank you", though.
I was just joking, pretty sure bing bong was being facetious too.

Why are survivors allowed to teabag AT THE EXIT GATE REEEEEEEE.
They need to make a perk where if you crouch and uncrouch twice in a row within a 2 second period, that skeletal hands burst from the ground and hold you in place for 2 seconds. That will stop them, bing bong.

It reminds me more of Midwich. Really annoying to navigate, can't figure out where the levels change, both come from horror video game series. The only real difference is that the courtyard keeps Midwich feeling a bit less like a labyrinth relative to RPD.

The ones that require Plague. I don't own Plague. Very hard challenges indeed.

Sure, then you double hit the guy that has BT, or better yet, wait out the 12 seconds. Then i'm tunneling again. My favorite is when the guy with BT body blocks. Like, if you want me to hit you again, i'll hit you. But i'm gonna keep hitting you.
I only body block for challenges, otherwise, they are on their own. Lul.

Sure, the Killer has to use ONE perk slot for a perk that could allow them multiple one hit downs (plus a speed boost to help that out!). Just search youtube for Killers who wait until the end of the match when they get NOED to actually start playing.
No, SWF isn't irrevelant. It's very relevant when it comes to dealing with NOED. A good SWF group can decide how they want to handle it where soloq has to guess what everyone else wants to do.
You may cleanse 3 totems a game. Most of the time I do too. But those games where NOED is active? Hah, gimme a break. It's free downs and better than any singular surv 'second chance' perk. And that's okay. It's a game around slasher horror, but don't pretend that NOED is some 'very fair' perk. It isn't.
It is more powerful than second chance perks because, well, by definition a second chance is always used, or if not, it is because you didn't even need it.
NOED is all or nothing. It is absolutely broken if you let it come online end game and decide to be altruistic without first cleansing it, for whatever reason, absolutely. But if you rush out competently, or cleanse it before going for a save, the perk is absolutely a wasted slot.
You are fixating on when it gets value and attributing its power to that state alone. It is pretty fair in that regard specifically.
Downing people in one hit? Not fair. Running the perk, fair. If that makes sense.
-
But I have borrowed time, so, to your face I shall unhook.
-
I prefer they use deadhard relative to DS, or borrowed time. Or even unbreakable. The second chance perks are more annoying to me.
Obviously survivors can use whatever they want. I have no problems with it, I will bring the perks I want to as well.
-
Between those? Tricker, easily. Give me stage loops that remind me of the good old days playing Black Ops 1 Zombies. It could be really colorful and different compared to, well, you know... The rest. Maybe have some Kpop bumping in the back, some McDonald's BTS product placement? Lovely.
-
I would probably spend WAY more money on the game if the bot mode allowed for BP gains. I only really bought a few core ones that would work for pvp. But there are plenty I would use in pve.

@Altarf said:
For me, the only times actual facecamping is justified is when:
1. The gates are powered.
2. Hopeless scenarios - say, you've gotten, like, one hook and 4 gens are done and you know you're not gonna be catching anyone else. I don't like doing this, though - only if it is completely, entirely hopeless to continue the match normally.
3. Survivors are crowding the hook.
4. Somebody uses an exploit to make my life miserable, like the old hook tech, or breakdown exploit. They deserve it in these cases.
Just my two cents, though.
Yep, those are basically the only time I face camp a hook. Just want my one kill that I may or may not get anyways.
I do not know what number 4 is, however. I am a new player.
-
That sounds absolutely awful. I do not use the moris myself because, well, I don't know if I will get a lot of kills or not before the game starts. Sometimes they put me against red ranks, sometimes I go up against people who are so desperate to save their SWF that I can snowball into a 4k with relative ease.
But yeah, things that change the win condition that heavily are really bad design.
-
Does Leprechaun In Space count? Not as good as when he went to the hood, but definitely more science fiction.
-
To be fair, what killer is immune to this lag? Leatherface... I guess? Such a privileged boy, all that barbecue made him stronk.
-
They literally ignore survivors running within hit distance to them, get stuck on objects, and cripple themselves falling down. Like???
They are REALLY bad.
-
Wasn't it disabled most of the time, though? Feel like that is a guaranteed delay. And we probably aren't getting a map next chapter either, so they have time... I guess.
-
I get too many survivor challenges for my own good. But so far, they are easier anyways. Or, should I say, I feel less incline to face camp hooks as a survivor. Muahahaha.

Maybe someone should purchase and play a completely different game in order to learn the layout for the largest map, and largest indoor map, in DbD? I'm not sure that that's good advice.
And it's really not great, it's another predrop-and-w-by-neccessity map, it has awful hook spawns, it's insanely large, it has seriously poor lighting, and it pretty much exists to hit that nostalgia spot and for no other reason. RIP anyone who hasn't played RE and/or doesn't like Haddonfield or The Game.
I love The Game and Haddonfield is alright, still think RPD is a labyrinth. I haven't played RE2 in over 15 years and I ain't about to get the remake to learn the layout. Well, actually, I might. Who knows? Sure DBD would prefer I spend that cash money on their game, though, so really its in their best interest to fix it. Chop chop, Behavior! /s
-
No idea, my offerings for it are disabled, though. And I haven't seen it for a couple days.
-
I feel like it got worse during the patch that was supposed to fix some of it. If we weren't close to the event, I bet they would have reverted.
But yeah, the problem seems to vary. I get it occasionally during important moments, maybe once or twice a game. I was watching my sister play killer and it would be no exaggeration to say it froze up nearly a dozen times per game.
