Someone is bad at tracking survivors and defending gens I see?
That is my biggest struggle as a new player. Very hard to know where to go at the beginning of the game.

Both sides are toxic towards the other, but the only difference is there is four survivors and one killer. There probably is no spike to my current knowledge, but it gives off an illusion of one.
While clicky clicky flashlight survivors are a nuisance, it is a viable strategy to get you to chase them, they are usually confident in their looping abilities or are experienced loopers. Paying no mind to them may waste their time trying to get your attention.
While true, sometimes it depends on the area of map. They are confident all right, too confident. That one pallet is only going to hold me for so long before I get a free hook.
If they clicky click near like the killer Shack, or somewhere with a double vault, I am gone. Lol.

So i was playing as Bubba (without camping :O) in autoheaven... Then i found this Kate (she was really bad lol) i downed her, and put her in the basement.
Then she proceeds to kill herself, and then this happened.

Theres something i ask myself, and i wanna ask you.
Is this player's fault or streamers fault? People keep saying tunneler and slugger without knowing what that means... And is really common.
Look, even if a streamer said that going for 2 hooks on everyone before any death hook was extreme tunneling, it wouldn't be their fault that randoms parrot that misinformation. It is an individuals duty to verify their information. And on this case, this clown actually messaged you out of salt. That is their responsibility alone. Even if a streamer told them to do it, explicitly. I feel the issue with a lot of this nonsense is that people are not holding the individual accountable. Influencers do have an influence, obviously, but you don't see me misusing terms I do not understand (despite the root word making the definition common sense) and acting like the people I watch.
That guy is just a clown, fam. That is his b, and his alone. Sometimes I include the parents by accident myself, but no reasonable person could have prevented this cringe of a message.

I know cakes aren't super rare, but they are enough of a pain to earn as a survivor that I cannot understand disconnecting at all if you bothered to bring one. I genuinely can't. Maybe they already grinded what they needed to, but then why cake? Maybe they take the game less seriously, but then why DC? It really doesn't take that much longer to walk in front of the killer and suicide on hook to end the game for yourself.
Those types of people are the ones you see IRL and shake your head in solemn recognition of their existence.
-
I am not going to lie, Trickster is technically what got me into DBD. I thought his name was All Kill because the trailer was trending and the idea was really creative from my perspective (and the only Kpop I listen to is Black Pink, I actually got random death threats for saying BTS was not my style, rofl). So a few months later, when I saw the 5th anniversary stream on YouTube, I clicked it just because Trickster was so interesting that I wanted to see what was next. And well, Resident Evil was one of my top 2 gaming franchises for a long time. Needless to say, I was really into it and just decided to finally commit.
So he will always have a soft spot in my heart. If the buff goes through, he will be the first OC that I purchase using the shards.

The Killer Shack is The Killers Domain (I mean...it's in the name even). With the Killer Shack God Pallet, most survivors worth their salt can loop that building four times before running into an issue (three vaults and a pallet). If the killer does have Bamboozle, you now have what should easily be two loops around the building before there's an issue. If anything, the Killer Shack is too weak for the Killers given it's supposed to be their shack...
If you feel like the Killer Shack is too unsafe to loop around for you, don't loop the Killers Shack. There's about five thousand other things for survivors to run around, go run around one of those if you can't make The Killer Shack loop work for you.
I am hardstuck rank 16 and I can run killers there. I am the type of survivor who literally runs at the killer by accident during a chase. It is so ludicrously survivor favored that even I could stall them for a 2 to 3 gen chase with the shack alone.

Idk, I got into a lot of these horror icons as a kid, myself. Maybe other people in a similar position think that this R rated stuff is tame. You know us Americans! You can torture and decapitate someone with gallons of blood and we are chill. Show one centimeters of nip (unless it is male nip as those are nasty and clearly not the same) and the whole thing is x rated.
-
I honestly want it too, the Springtrap thread finally made me go and watch a lore video as I was lost after the sequel came out. The OG is the only one I really enjoyed as an actual game, but the intrigue of the Purple Guy kept the franchise in my mind for awhile even if I ignored the other half dozen entries.
-
Honestly? If the game ends with no hooks, please give me an "entity pity" bonus. Just like 2k BP. Not even enough to buy a bronze item in the blood web. Now I am not saying that with all of these combined that I wouldn't level a bloodweb decently... rofl. But what I am saying is that it would make me feel much better about such a short game.
-
They can take their time as long as they don't make it worse. Performance was meh before the anniversary patch, but that one made it worse, at least for me. So I would rather they just wait until it will actually address the problem than push something that might worsen the performance. Just my opinion.

The penalty for DDOSing is that you lack dignity and need to live with that. Harsh enough if you ask me.

The community has been really welcoming to me, here at least. In game! Yikes. Ha ha ha... But yeah, the people here are really nice.
-
I would rather be a little lower to reduce my chances of running into red or purple ranks. But yeah, generally speaking it is a fun rank to be at. The people that make it unfun tend to be the red or purple ranks that are usually noticeably better. Generally speaking.

What is the DC penalty?

If it was that easy to use, how come it isn't meta? I mean, wouldn't Pig, Wraith, Ghoshface, and Myers be OP as well? I don't think it's as simple as you make it appear, unfortunately, but I wish it was because that perk is so useless.
To be fair, I have seen a LOT of people place Ghostface at tiers ahead of the last one. Rofl. It exposes survivors really hard when they don't have terror radius to carry them. Sadly it boosted me while playing Freddy too.
-
I do not care what they say or do realistically. I only play "fair" because I do not want to rank up so soon. I only joined a week ago and I was already rank 9. That might not be high for people who have been playing the game or have a great understanding of it, but I STILL don't know how basic mechanics work.
And sometimes I get games with "toxic" players who are trying to troll me. But it is okay, I will improve at my own pace while having fun. No offense to anyone here, but if you think someone dunking in a video game or flashing lights is enough to frustrate me, you have another thing coming. Compared to some of the psychos I have had to deal with irl, this is literally not even BM enough to qualify as a joke.
-
It was ranking me up pretty easily when I tunneled. Now that I am playing a bit more how survivors want me to, I am dropping like a fly.
Literally only face camping doesn't give you a pip, but you can usually do that to get someone out of the game and 4k regularly after that unless they get the hatch.

I’ve had fur disconnects on the past two games as trapper. People are getting pissed over the simplest of things. Pull off a good play? DC. Get downed cause their plan didn’t succeed? DC. It’s a shame really.
Leave because someone else DC'd is a common one I see. Maybe they are all SWF, but yeah, almost anything will get someone who is rage quit happy to disconnect.
-
Agreed. The best way to learn is to experience it a lot. And I never get to play it, so naturally I am lost whenever it does come up (only twice for me).
-
I prefer variety. If I can find someone that does news, tips and tricks, and has entertaining matches, I would be in heaven.
I watched a lot of OTZ to learn the game a bit before getting into it. Otherwise I mostly watch salt videos from Spook and Jukes and Potato Legion. I enjoy Scott Junds more discussion based content.
Video length is kind of irrelevant. Otz uploaded like a 7 hour video recently that I might watch and Spook uploaded a 1 and a half minute clip today. So... Anything goes when it comes to me. I suppose my preference is 20 to 30 minutes.
No streams for me.
Killer content, 100%. I would only watch survivor play to see how the killer interactions look from their perspective.
Hmm... Now that you mention it, thumbnail game is real weak from the videos I am watching.
-
I have no idea where anything is either. It just seems to be one we need to play a lot to get used to it. And it still seems rare for me, I only played it once as killer and once as survivor. I played every other map at least 6 times. Including the temple which was apparently disabled.
-
DS annoys me the most. Especially when you catch them well after the fact only to realize they were basically just baiting it.
As for killer? I guess Barbecue and Chili? I do not like the killer knowing where I am at.
-
Satisfying? Definitely NOED and Blood Warden to punish those late game baggers.

You and I have very different definitions of "classic horror icon". Slenderman is 8 years old and is just a creepypasta. The only reason he got notoriety was because of people literally going psycho over him.
Relative to the Demogorgon? I feel like the standards aren't particularly high for them to be considered.

And now add in the pre-rank reset sweat, and it's a horror fest in every single match.
Why would people sweat before their rank resets? Isn't that pointless? It gets reset, right? I am new. So I genuinely don't know.

BP is BP. I am getting enough to try and get my killers up to 50, so I can't complain.

@UMCorian said:
I will say one thing: this is a game that's balance swings ridiculously depending on how you play it.
If you're in a SWF with competent friends? Forget it. You'll run circles around any killer.
If you're solo at higher ranks and everyone at least has a basic understanding of the map and looping? Eh, you'll be fine. Probably.
If you're a solo Survivor in the low ranks (like I am now - I'm a killer main trying Survivor in earnest). Holy hell, this game is killer-sided. All a killer needs to do is mindlessly follow a survivor (mind games are for nerds), down them, hook them, and wait. Every other game, you queue into a lobby filled with default skin survivors on console holding nothing. You can sorta guess how the game's going to go from there.
So killer can just take any chase he wants - even if it takes 2 minutes. Who cares about pressuring gens? You think anyone's doing a gen at low rank? That's the last place you'll find a survivor. And this is where you're going to see all the "toxic killers" who facecamp and smack you on hook. They think they're good at the game because they keep winning against Survivors who don't know what a loop or a gen is.
I now think survivors who get through these low ranks don't do so without a monster chip on their shoulders... and that's why so many Red Ranked Survivors seem like douchenozzles. And I also think this is why this game is ridiculously hard for the devs to balance. At low rank, the wrong killer buff will make this game unplayable for new and returning players if you have even one potato survivor on your team.
Thankfully, it seems all you need to do at low rank is do 1 gen, win 1 chase and unhook 1 survivor and you get a pip... so I'll be out of here soon, I hope!
I am struggling to pip as a low rank survivor, and yet when I am caught out first and face camped out of the game... I don't lose progress, it is so weird.
Compare that to killer and it just keeps ranking me up and up. I am already rank 9 with only a weeks experience whereas I am hardstuck 16 as a survivor.
-
It is about the gameplay loop. As a survivor, I need to find a gen, and then I need to sit there and play a glorified QTE. If I get caught, the game is designed that eventually you will get caught unless the skill discrepancy is huge on a strong part of the map. And once you get downed, or hooked, you basically do nothing for 1-3 minutes (maybe longer, no idea what the slug timer is).
If I don't escape, I lose an item. If I do escape, I feel empty, like, I just opened a gate and that's it... It only satisfies me if I did a gen or 2, got chased for a couple minutes, healed a few people, found a good item to use. And as a low ranked survivor, if I am first to get spotted, I can expect none of that will happen.
As a killer, if I run into an amazing looper, I can leave and find someone easier or stay engaged to see what they are doing to learn from it. Whatever tickles my fancy. If they want to drop a pallet and get the free flashlight stun when I go to break it, I still broke it. I get to decide just about everything from who I target to, whether I commit after injuring them, to slug or not to slug, which gens I do NOT want them to have. Whether someone lives or dies. I had a twitch tv Jill, presumably in a SWF as they all tried to take hits for her. But she clicky clicked her lights and me no like that too much, so she dieded even though she was rank 2 and I am a baby killer.
I came from Overwatch, fam. You know why I desperately needed a break from that game? I was sick and tired of absolutely useless teammates. Playing the team based role in this game would have made zero sense, albeit, I still do SWF with my sister. Anything is more fun with co op and she loves gen rushing, so it all works out to lead to some interesting end game scraps that sometimes make escaping feel more imperative.
-
I always tunnel Jane because I love the view. So maybe that happens to them a lot so they are afraid to expose themselves to risk. Lol.

me personally think the DC penalty should be loss in ranks dont wanna give them time unless its 24 hr ban for it maybe people not think about DC as a way out of it.. maybe put a condition that if say it is server shut down or something that loss in ranks doesnt happen or something if that's even possible. i get tired of losing ranks in a game when all the survivors DC because they got caught or right before a hooking and points scale doesn't even meet the line to keep the rank or node at least.
But then you could derank super easily. I never DC, but I might to get more consistently easy survivors. I have only been playing for a week and would really prefer not playing against red and purple ranks for just a bit while I am learning the ropes.
-
I hate the idea. I want to run the 3 most popular perks in the game... They are popular for a reason.

Billy's entire counterplay revolves around forcing him to m1. What you're basically asking for is him to not be able to down a good survivor ever.
That all depends on how they buff his chainsaw, now doesn't it? Wink wink.

All of the original characters.

I was really shocked to see Freddy has literally nothing. They sell the classic Ghostface robes to get him out of his Dishonored garb, but they don't sell us OG Freddy? Missed opportunity.

The entire reason why crossplay is a thing, is to help pc playerbase with their ######### queue times. If you make this as an option, many will just opt PC out and make whole crossplay pointless
Really? Queue times were worse on PC than on console? I am used to the opposite. I guess this game is a bit more on the casual side, so it kind of makes sense.
-
Yeah, I could instantly tell he was the hardest of the base killers, at the very least. I know people say Nurse is really difficult, and maybe that is true at higher ranks where survivors are more consistent, but I feel it is really just that the power takes some getting used to and she moves at turtle speed.
-
Part of being a good sportsman is being a good sport to those entitled brats that were never raised properly as well. It is important to keep the game fun for the normal survivors out there, as obviously not all of them are clowns. At least to me.
Don't get me wrong, if I have a challenge that forces me to play optimally, I will. Otherwise I don't mind playing a "fair" killer and sometimes the karma pays you back. I am really bad at Ghostface and this team destroyed me, the last guy wanted to give me a consolation kill. It was really nice and would have helped me forget that match if the next one wasn't on the same map (Haddonfield) with a 4 man toxic squad. So now I remember getting destroyed back to back. Lol.
The irony was I stood a chance against the toxic ones BECAUSE they were playing disrespectful. The good team that was nice and gave me free hits at the gate EVISCERATED me.
-
I have had a few canceled games, but those happen when someone else DC's while it is loading. I have not had a crash yet despite being ps4. But I have seen it happen to other people.
-
I don't even notice because I am usually looking at my phone. Rofl.
I am just playing for fun, if they are THAT desperate to leave the game early, I could really care less.
-
I am the tame version of the Basement Bubba. I only camp a hook at the end to get one guaranteed pick. This makes me morally superior, the survivors just don't realize it!
-
The same build I run on everyone. Barbecue, Ruin, NOED, and filler perk. I just bought Undying from the Shrine, so I don't have it on anyone's bloodweb. I like Surveillance to help me figure out which gen they are on when I am not in chase.
-
I am on team "one million total." So 500,000 to mirror the initial BP at the close. That is how they do it clean, I know they like it dirty, but... I want another 500k drop, please and thank you.
-
The Entity can mald all it wants, nobody cares about its feelings.
-
I was saving them because I wanted the boost when leveling new characters. But I bought the characters earlier than I thought I would, so I kind of regret not using them.
One huge problem is that I played a lot of Freddy, so he has less cakes now, as I am putting the bloodpoints into all of the new characters. To compensate, I am just playing the new killers with shoddy perks to use the cakes.

The matchmaking system is horrific, can't wait for mmr personally.
The worst I got was a rank 2 and a rank 4 with two purples. I didn't check their numbers because they weren't Hollywood enough for me.
But a full red rank team? I would cri.

I am new myself and yeah, learning a new killer is vaguely stressful just because I feel like I won't do particularly well. I try not to let them get to me when I am playing a killer I am not great at. You learn more from defeat anyways, so might as well embrace it.

You could always play a garbage killer like Trapper and surely that would make your life harder even with bad survivors.
