  • IMO the best way to 'deal' with camping is to reward Survivors for Killer proximity to the hook instead of 'punishing' the Killer.

After all, (as this thread has pointed out) there are a few situations where a Killer should 'camp' the hook if they're trying to play efficiently. Punishing them is nonsensical because they're just doing the smart thing.

'Toxic' Killers who camp to ruin Survivors' experiences won't care about being punished. They're playing solely to ruin the other person's day and no punishment will make them stop as long as they can ruin someone else's game.

The obvious solution to me is to simply give the hooked Survivor bloodpoints and points toward pipping while the Killer is within a certain radius of the hook for distracting the Killer.

If the Survivor is unhooked, downed shortly after, and rebooked you could give them all the points they would have gotten had they simply remained on the hook until the next hook state.

The pip points would only be enough to black pip and the bloodpoints wouldn't be super crazy either. It wouldn't be "the new way to farm" it'd just be a way to encourage Survivors to stay on the hook and get camped to help buy their teammates time as well as a way to help make it less annoying for solo Survivors to be camped, tunneled, or farmed off the hook.

  • "Alright, here's the plan: while you're in chase I'm going to bodyblock you so you can't throw a pallet and get you downed, then I'll throw the pallet down on the Killer as they pick you up at the wrong time so they don't get stunned, after which I'll bodyblock a hit even though the hook is two feet away, and then after they hook you I'll farm you off the hook instantly without Borrowed Time. Sound okay?"

    Oh it is.

Unless you just really want bloody cosmetics, it's 100% a waste of time and bloodpoints.

  • (Because both Speedo Quentin and Robert Englund Freddy have already been asked for:)

I'd like a Nea cosmetic of what she was like before she left Sweden. We know she dyed her hair black and cut it shorter as well as changed her style of dress, so I'm curious what she was like before she went full teenage rebel.

For real. How do you choose Quentin to be your representative character from Nightmare on Elm Street instead of Nancy, the main protagonist? It would be like having Lynda instead of Laurie for Halloween, or something.

Because BHVR couldn't get Nancy Thompson or the real Freddy.

Given they had a choice between Quentin, Nancy Holbrook, and whoever it was that filled Tina's role I'm glad they went with Quentin.

He's the only interesting and fleshed out character in the movie, he takes multiple hits from Freddy and survives, and he's much more representative of a tenacious Survivor than Nancy Holbrook was.

From what little I remember of her PTB she was a lot louder, she sounded quite a bit more hurt and scared when she was hurt (IMO), and her voice had a higher pitch.

People complained she was annoyingly loud being hooked (she was extremely loud) and the devs scrapped everything and gave her a new voice actor.

    Here's her old voice:

    https://youtu.be/nkYzA1EVL4s

(0:15 is her hooked scream, so you know what people didn't like.)

  • There are horror themes and influences, but this game isn't exactly scary after your first two or three games as Survivor.

The reason this happens, at least IMO, is because most Killers are very predictable and avoidable.

The Terror Radius, the Red Stain, looping, aura-reading perks, and being able to see the status of your fellow Survivors all make the game much less tense because they give you information.

It is easy to tell when a Killer is near, where they are going, and what they are doing. As a Survivor you have a lot of information available to you if you know how to look for it.

The scariest Killers are those that deny this information: Michael Myers and The Spirit with other Stealth Killers to a lesser existent.

In general, denying information can make people uncertain and nervous because they aren't sure what the right course of action is.

The reason Scratched Mirror Michael is scary on Léry's is because you are denied information and uncertain how to react: he could be watching you or he could be on the other side of the map and you wouldn't know.

If we were going to turn DBD into a more tense and horrific you'd want to make it so Survivors have much more limited information available to them.

Things like making the map darker for Survivors so they can't see very well, removing their ability to see other Survivor's health states and force them to listen for screams to know if someone has been hooked, removing the Killer's Terror Radius and Red Stain so they can approach unseen unless the Survivor is aware of their surroundings, and getting rid of a Survivor's Survivor and Killer aura reading perks.

Now that won't happen, and I don't think it should outside of a new game mode, because Survivors are used to their information and the game is balanced around it. Survivors would riot if so many of their survival tools vanished and unless Killers were significantly nerfed they'd become frustratingly overpowered for solo Survivors.

**TL;DR - By and large, DBD isn't scary and to be scary it would need a major rework of it's central game mechanics.**

Title. I'm guessing they will be here either in the mid-chapter patch or between mid-chapter and bext chapter.

I personally think they'll be released with the mid-chapter patch and Freddy's rework.

I think they'll try to make a big deal out of her getting cosmetics and not just release them the way they've released every other Killer's cosmetics since they're the first ever (IIRC) post-release licensed cosmetics.

If they were just going to release them before the mid-chapter they should have released between other cosmetics and not back-to-back.

Back-to-back will create an oversaturation of Pig cosmetics while also not treating them in a very special way. It won't attract or interest the non-Pig main casual audience if they do it that way.

  • Hey all!

I personally don't care about Moris.

I don't face them enough that I find them a big issue to my enjoyment of the game nor do I use them often enough that I would miss them if they were removed.

They could stay the same or vanish completely and I honestly wouldn't care either way.

    Or a blond haired guy.

Regardless of how hot or not you find the current male survivor roster, it's pretty much just brunets besides Bill. If you ask me it could use a little variety.

  • Stealing items, punch in the face, alerting where are your team mates...

As a separate game mode or option in KYF it'd be hilarious.

Imagine the Killer just watching as the Survivors have an all-out brawl over who gets the Hatch.

Half the first episode is Nea running the Wraith around the Haddonfield infinite and the other half is David and Dwight hiding in lockers.

  • That would probably be this time a Legion and a Claudette worked together to bleed everyone out.

The Legion just used her as a Killer Instinct spammer to find and slug everyone else. It took a while, but after slugging everyone they waited for the bleedout timers to expire. The other 2 Survivors DC'ed, but I just read a book and waited until I bled out to leave the game.

Afterwards I got racist and sexist slurs messaged to me by both the Legion and Claudette for not DC'ing and wasting their time.

  • @Mister_Holdout said:

@miaasma Wouldn't that make Huntress really overpowered?

She already has the potential to end chases quickly (assuming the player is skilled).

I think it would be better if the devs stopped making ######### maps.

Giving her 115% would definitely make her a lot stronger than she is now, but who says that's definitely a bad thing?

With how many large maps that keep being added and all the pre-existing long loops that really punish her for having 110% movement speed, I think they ought to revert her lullaby and try giving her 115% to see how it goes.

With 115% they might be able to give her more accurate hitboxes and not have everyone (including me, because she basically needs the crazy spherical hitboxes to be a threat on unmindgameable low-wall loops) freak out.

If a flat 115% ends up being too strong, they can try different things from there, but it'd be a good place to start IMO.

  • I'm no dev, but since teleporting to a gen seems to be a channeled action, like using a chainsaw or healing a Survivor, I'd imagine it would get canceled because the now fixed generator would no longer be a valid teleport location for Freddy.

Just like how you can't rev a chainsaw if hit by a pallet or keep healing a Survivor who heals from Adrenaline.

That said, one of Freddy's add-ons will apparently prevent him from cancelling a generator teleport, so it might be possible for that specific add-on to force him to teleport to a completed generator.

Please ignore the last line of that, it’s meant to be a thank you to all who have participated in this thread (including no mither but the comment appears blank when I try to edit it) and helped me challenge myself with trying to draw out their ideas. I’m really grateful and think it’s been fun. You’re all amazing and picturing all these cute/funny headcanons was great. Thank you all so much. 😍💖

Thank you for creating all the amazing artwork!

I loved this thread and how wholesome it was. I'm glad I stumbled upon it. <3

  • So everyone has agreed that the perk is useless but I really REALLY want a Dev to share how they see it should be used.

I haven't tried it myself, but on Scratched Mirror Myers you could theoretically combine M&A and Furtive Chase to reduce your Terror Radius to a tiny 2 meters from 14 meters while in chase. If you also manage to get a good totem spawn you could also use Third Seal and prevent the Survivors from ever knowing where you are (they wouldn't see their teammates when you down them and wouldn't hear your TR even if you're still chasing them), but that's honestly it once Freddy gets reworked.

Even in the very specific above case, the perk doesn't really help. It just makes you more spooky by keeping your TR tiny while chasing a Survivor.

Honestly, with all the other requirements attached to the perk, it would be better to remove the chase requirement and just have it flat out reduce TR while the Obsession is alive.

It still wouldn't be useful in most games given how reliant the perk is on hooking your Obsessions without killing them, but at least Killers could occasionally benefit from using it as opposed to getting what is more or less just an empty perk slot.

  • I play Quentin a lot and have a ton of fun, but I usually die and tend to mess up quite a bit. Probably due in no small part to my tendency to run OoO and play very aggressively.

When I play Nea things just seem to click better; I just feel like I do a lot better playing as her than I do as anyone else.

  • I mean yes, but I play on PS4.

80% of Killers camp and tunnel regardless of who they're playing or what perks they're using.

  • I only have 13 Downvotes.

I'm pretty sure Ghost Face is an honorary member of the Legion. He has Killer Instinct, a white mask, and basically the same kind of knife.

All we need is for GF to teach the Legionnaires how to be sneaky and stab properly, and for the Legionnaires to help get GF into better shape so he can fast vault pallets and windows; then they'll be unstoppable.

  • A classical music thread? Awesome! :D

Probably two of my favorite pieces are Claude Debussy's 'Clair de Lune' and Zsigmond Szathmáry's 'Volumina'.

'Clair de Lune' is so peaceful and soothing. I used to listen to it when I was younger before going to bed.

'Volumina' I first heard randomly on the radio quite recently, but I absolutely loved how dissonant and frenzied it was.

I'll need to give Shostakovich's violin concerto a listen sometime soon I don't think I've ever heard it.

  • I personally don't mind the stun VFX. The red flash doesn't really bother me or effect me at all.

That said, why the heck was it added?

I mean, it's not like there is any appreciable difference between pallet stuns and DS or Head-On stuns. And besides, communicating the origin of the stun to the player through a red glow doesn't really give them any information they couldn't have gathered in another way.

A pallet drops on you and you get stunned? Probably the pallet.

Stunned near a locker (one you probably see or hear someone jumping out of)? Most likely Head On.

Stunned as the Decisive Strike icon appears in the corner after you pick someone up? Gee, I wonder what caused that.

The red VFX are at best pointless and at worst painful. They should simply be removed.

  • I do.

Before prestiging I've tried to use every add-on I have on my Killer and brown add-ons are usually my go to if I face a SWF.

  • I saw the little teaser trailer and it seemed cool, but I'm waiting to hear more about the story or see gameplay before I get too hyped. Still, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Also am I the only one concerned that GRRM is writing a video game instead of finishing A Song Of Ice And Fire?

  • Yes I do actually, but does anyone play Last Year?

@TheRockstarKnight I tried a quick sketch sorry if I didn’t do it justice I’ve never drawn either before, hag was really fun though might draw her more often, thanks for commenting, definitely very cute! I love the detail you put in and it’s adorable for Lisa to have a friend who sees her as a human not a monster and I can so see Lisa comforting Susie. I don’t mean just cute headcanons though, some dark ones might be interesting. I’m just trying to practice new things so thank you so much for joining the thread. Sorry if I messed it up again. I’m doing these fast to improve my speed. I know I got the fabric on the wrong side because I flipped it mid sketch and didn’t revert it. RIP. Plus the background is fighting me sorry.

@Kiskashi That is perfect! You did an amazing job of capturing of what I wrote (IMO at least)! I'm glad you liked my head canon enough to make a truly adorable drawing of it! 😍

Also who cares whether Hag's fabric is on the right side or not, it looks great, it's really cute, and I love it! And personally I like the background, purple is one of my favorite colors. I wouldn't say you messed up at all.

If you want to me share my darker head canons let me know, I don't want to overstay my welcome on this thread and just blab. :p

  • I like it (both your head canon and the art)! It looks very cute and if decide to create and share more I look forward to seeing them. Also, don't worry about sharing your art and don't be your own worst critic; it looks fine! :)

As for sharing cute head canons, most of my character head canons (at least for the Killers) are pretty dark.

The only really cute/silly one I have is that Hag and Susie are friends and spend time together outside of the trials; but even that's bittersweet.

They mostly just treat each other kindly and like human beings; something most of the Killers are either unwilling to do or incapable of doing. Occasionally they let themselves relax and be kids (they're both only 16 year olds) in a subconscious attempt to forget about the horrifying reality of their situation (stuck, probably forever, in the service of an immensely powerful and evil supernatural being).

Lisa's a bit resistant to having fun; she willing sold her soul to the Entity for all eternity so she could slaughter the cannibal village the same way they slaughtered everyone she knew and cared about. She understands why she's here, that she will never leave, and even feels that she belongs here; but she loosens up sometimes to comfort Susie (who, even though she has gradually become accustomed to routinely murdering people, still fears and hates being trapped in a place that is basically hell).

Susie, for her part, is the only person who tries to see the person beneath Lisa's mud monster exterior. Rather than treating her like an organ eating zombie (which Lisa is, to be fair) she treats her like another person; sharing her GameBoy with Lisa, complimenting the stylish outfits Lisa will get from the Entity, sometimes helping Lisa with her braids, and otherwise being nice to her.

@PhantomMask20763 Hmm, I feel like crowns should be exclusive for huge accomplishments. For example, @Orion is well behaved and sets a huge example for the community. Sure he's not perfect, but he sure does try to be perfect; in other words, he has perseverance.

However, that's just me, if the mods are cool with giving crown, then he deserves it! 🙂

I couldn't have put it better than this. I don't see why @friendlykillermain shouldn't get a crown or some other like signifier of their 100-page post achievement.

It's still up to the mods of course, but personally I'm in support of giving them a special profile picture.

  • Like, being genuinely serious amidst all the memes, I liked how Friday the 13th had a fairly realistic setting.

Yeah, giant murder zombie and all, but you can try to fight back with weapons, you escape by calling the police or driving away, and the giant murder zombie can straight-up murder you if he gets his hands on you.

I like DBD, but I find it sad that there aren't more realistic asymmetrical games like F13; where the Killer can actually kill Survivors and where there isn't a bunch of mystical mumbo-jumbo thrown in to make the game balanced.

F13 was never a really healthy (101 game breaking bugs) or even a fair game (the perk system, oh my that hecking perk system), but it was more or less a faithful combination of 80s slasher film and video game.

Until it's possible to do this in DBD we all know which game is clearly the best asymmetrical horror game.

  • @KillermainBTWm8 said:

It's not game breaking or anything, but personally the camera jerk is really unpleasant.

  • In my opinion, we should be use facts to support our opinions rather than just stating our opinions. Especially with regards to our opinions on the opinions of others.

There's no reason to state your opinion on someone else's opinion unless you have a new fact that supports your opinion on someone else's opinion, in my opinion.

  • Hey Mandy mains! How are ya?

Out of curiosity, I have a question; since y'all don't hum you can sneak up on Survivors some of the time. When you do, do you prefer just standing up and smacking (or grabbing) people? Or do you like roaring and charging at them more?

    CutePig.gif

Just curious what the common consensus is. :)

  • 1.What are your feelings from the game? (when you play survivor ofc)

You mean like how I feel playing Survivor? Usually annoyed. Most Killers I face just camp or tunnel and almost every game my teammates are more of a hindrance than a help (even if I get into the Purple Ranks).

2.What killer is the one you like to play against and which is not?

Myers is the most fun to play against and Trapper is my least favorite. Myers is just really cool and spooky, even though he usually facecamps. Trapper is my least favorite because my teammates will feed him a 3 gen strat and then get caught in every bear trap he sets down. I've never had a fun game against a Trapper, even against the ones that would let me have the Hatch out of pity.

3.What is interesting part about playing survivors for you?

Interesting? Probably my teammates (I stalk- er, I mean keep track of them with Bond). They're usually not 100% terrible, so I find it interesting to watch and see what mistakes they make and what smart decisions they make.

4.Is the game satisfying for you?

No. Large portions of the game I spend holding down the square or M1 button and waiting for skillchecks an activity that is boring the first time you do it. The portions I spend in chase are interesting but rarely satisfying. When I go down it's usually because I mess up really badly, I just run out of places to go, or ways to try and deny bloodlust. It's fine, because those have to be there for balance but getting downed is never a satisfying experience. Unfortunately, staying in chase for a long time isn't satisfying either. It's engaging but I feel punished rather than rewarded for looping Killers for a long time since I usually only get Boldness points and points for the Chaser emblem. Regardless of whether I survive or die I will end up with few points and a black pip or depip. That's assuming of course that the Killer doesn't DC; which prevents me from pipping or gaining any items I found during the trial IF I manage to elude them all the way to the Exit Gates.

5.If you could change something, what would it be?

Either make the game more scary or more rewarding (more bloodpoints plz) for Survivors.

6.Do you think that Survivor is easy, medium or difficult to play?

Relatively easy to play. Survivor gameplay is in general quite forgiving and, as long as your entire team doesn't all make bad mistakes at the same time or the Killer doesn't tunnel you into the ground, you can mess up fairly often and be mostly fine.

My issue with Survivor isn't that it's hard, but that it's an unrewarding experience.

7.Which [side] is, in your opinion, is more interactive?

Killer by far is the most proactive and interactive role. Survivors sit passively on generators and react to skillchecks, or they react to teammates being downed or injured, or they react to being chased. Only the chase gives Survivors meaningful input and that is limited to trying to avoid being downed.

In short, the Killer is the only player in the game who instigates actions and has to strategize when doing so. Survivors just respond, or attempt to respond, to skillchecks and things the Killer is doing/might do.

8.Do survivors require considerable skills to be considered good? Otherwise, is the skill cap for survivors high or low?

Survivors do not require considerable skills to perform well or pip, but I would say that skill cap isn't necessarily low. It's not as high as that of Killers like Spirit, Nurse, or Huntress but it does take a quite a fair bit of practice to do very well.

i personally never had a problem with it but f it becomes irrelevant than survivors will just replace it with a more annoying perk which will suck

I've never had issues with it on Huntress (if it ever triggered I'd just hit them with another Hatchet) but when I'd play Wraith 4 Survivors all running MoM made life hard.

Of course I like to play Wraith without add-ons in the Red Ranks so it's not like I was wanting or expecting to have an easy game.

I am curious to see what perk will replace it now in the meta Survivor build.

  • Exciting! I'm nervously looking forward to the Freddy rework, but I don't know exactly how I feel about the MoM nerf. I'm really glad it's getting nerfed, but I feel like that might just be the Killer Main in me.

It's beneficial if you notice it in a chase, or if you notice it between chases. Playing Plague well requires a lot of situational awareness. I'm not saying it's the best means of tracking but a skilled and observant killer CAN use it to their advantage and it'd be a very powerful tool if the cured survivor was left injured.

But they aren't left Injured, so being enough skilled and observant to notice what fountain has just been used doesn't help you.

Unless you want to immediately stop whatever you're doing, walk halfway across the map, get your power, and then tunnel a fully healed Survivor while all the other Survivors do generators, there's no point in paying attention to what fountain gets used.

Just keep track of the closest usable fountain so that you waste as little time as possible charging your power.
