  • It's not that the threshold is artificially high, it's that getting Gatekeeper emblems is honestly not something you can really control as a Killer; especially in the red ranks.

Sure, you can use Hex: Ruin if you have it, or give up chases to try and keep putting pressure on generators, but mostly getting that emblem depends on the Survivors not doing the one thing they're supposed to be doing.

At every rank it's an emblem that you earn for the Survivors messing up rather than one you earn for playing well; so in the red ranks (where most Survivors know how to play effectively) you can pretty much kiss anything above a Silver Gatekeeper goodbye.

  • I, for one, welcome our new @TreemanXD overlord and look forward to seeing what they'll do upon achieving total domination of the forums.

  • What's up friends?

(Besides the ceiling & sky of course.)

  • I mainly play on PS4, so I don't have pictures to upload right now, but I've noticed the hair clipping issue too.

I wouldn't hold my breath though; Kate's hair will still occasionally go into helicopter mode which has been a problem since she was released.

  • It would never work in the DBD we have right now, but it is a cool idea (at least to me).

Imagine if there was a Killer who doesn't pose much a threat themselves, but instead turned the map itself into a tool to slow, damage, and down Survivors? Like Trapper or Hag but instead of setting artificial traps to surprise Survivors they modify the actual design and features of the environment.

Pallets could be covered in nails, windows could have barbed wire strung across them, lockers could have razor blades for handles and their interiors lined with broken glass, generators could require you to alternate the side you're working on ever so often so you don't get sliced by a blade that protrudes from the generator every so often.

It'd have to be done really well to be scary though. I could see environmental traps either being frustrating because they're too hard to avoid or laughable because they're easy to avoid.

  • Not really; she already loses her Corrupt Purge when stunned and relies entirely on Survivors in order to ever use it in the first place.

I do think she needs some changes, but not a nerf to her Corrupt Purge.

    @TAG

He went crazy due to all the stress, survivors have nothing to do with the mine so there is no point in killing them. The Entity tortured him a bit and the pain combined with his already fragile mind did the rest.

I always took his refusal to obey the Entity as stubbornness rather than morality.

He was fine massacring people if they messed with him or if they messed with his father; but he wasn't willing to slaughter people just because some godlike Spider Demon told him to.

I think the amount of scars and metal sticking in him is a testament to his iron willpower and his status as a Killer a testament to the Entity's depravity and adeptness for torture.

  • I don't think the Killer needs consequences for camping Survivors.

I think Survivors should be rewarded (in bloodpoints and points toward pipping) for being camped.

That'd put an end to camping as a way to troll, reward Survivors for having to put up with the annoyance of being camped, and let Killers camp without punishment if it's the smartest decision (both gates are open, all 3 other Survivors are just waiting for the unhook, etc.)

Borrowed Time is fine as a perk that allows for risky saves/unhooks against a Camper; I just wish it activated based on Killer proximity to the hook rather than Terror Radius, because as it is right now Wraith, Pig, and Insidious can all hard counter BT by camping without a Terror Radius.

  • @Roboducc Hello! It's always nice to meet a new face.

  • It's the same with Leatherface. He also has a sizeable amount of sounds that, to the best of my knowledge, never get heard in game:

    https://youtu.be/qWjn7YXpm9I?t=60

In the video the sounds I'm referring to are listed as 'Leatherface Talk #' and occur after the 1:00 minute mark. I've played Leatherface quite a bit and I'm pretty sure most of these fairly lengthy sounds don't get used in any capacity.

Which is disappointing to me since he makes the exact same series of grunts every single time he has a chainsaw rampage (feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken Bubba mains).

    Please let our T H I C C B O I S speak with their full voices BHVR!

  • @Slayer

You have heard of lockers right? You don't need Calm Spirit to counter Doctor, you can just use Lockers to avoid screaming if getting zapped really bugs you that much.

Even ignoring Lockers Doctor isn't that great a Killer. He's a 115% M1 Killer whose power is he finds people, prevents flashlight blinds & insta-heals mid-chase, and he can sometimes stun people to deny pallet or window vaults if he plays well and the Survivor has never learned how to play against Doctor.

Now if you play solo I can understand your complaints (because solo queue is full of people who go down in 10 seconds, miss every skillcheck when they dare to touch gens, and DC on their first hook) but you still need to stop complaining because it's not Doctor that's killing you, it's your bad teammates.

Unless he's 3-gen'ing (and that will usually end with the Survivors winning... it just takes 10+ minutes) there's nothing that annoying about Doctor IMO. Just do generators, loop him to the best of your ability when he finds you, and pray that your teammates will do the same.

  • @Broosmeister

Because a lot of them feel ignored by the devs and there are a lot of situations in this game that feel unfun or unfair for them. In short, they're not having a good time.

When people have unpleasant experiences they get upset and want to communicate their upsetness with another human being. Sometimes that communication turns into whining or ranting.

  • I've been hit by a Begrimed Chains & Begrimed Heads before and the repair speed debuff only stays active for as long as the Mangled Effect does. As for the debuff's strength, I noticed my repair speed being slower (along with a 'spooky' red bar) but it didn't stop me from doing generators.

I won't pretend to know the numbers, but I in my limited experience with them and Begrimed Heads I wouldn't say these add-ons are that worth using over any of the more obvious choices (especially considering that they're Very Rare add-ons).

  • Wait, they really said they'd do that!?

What happened? It would make things so much nicer than the way it is now without, in any way that I can see, being overpowered.

    @razaluna said:

or perhaps give us a slider between the default FOV and shadowborns FOV , but then what would shadowborn turn into?

They could either turn it back into what it used to be; a perk that lessens the darkness level of the map (which would be awesome against Claudettes on MacMillan), or they could change it like Tinkerer and give it a completely different tracking effect.

  • I personally support giving The Pig a maskless cosmetic (even though it'll probably never happen because of licensing).

    @nunadventures said:

It would be cool but most killers and killer cosmetics obscured the face in some way. The only cosmetic I can an think that doesn’t do that is nurses’ opera headpiece where she has just a blindfold covering her eyes

There are Killers without masks (and even if there weren't that's no reason to deny The Pig an Unmasked Amanda cosmetic).

Even if you want to count Clown's greasepaint & make-up as obscuring his face there's still Hillbilly, Hag, Freddy, and Spirit; all of whom have no cosmetics that conceal their faces.

I am right now. But I'm a Killer Main.

  • A pettable cat as the Killer's power? I'm sold.

Furry friends aside, I don't think the Killer would be that powerful.

Callahan seems like a more gimmicky and less powerful version of the screams caused by Doctor's madness and I can't see anything under Asher's effects that would let The Broken know she is being pet, meaning The Broken has no real way to take advantage of her purring unless he just follows her everywhere. And if their is a way to tell when someone is near here Survivors will probably just avoid her or trigger her at loops so that The Broken can't get a drop on them.

I like Silence & Regret but they aren't very strong. I mean, past Rank 6 I don't think you could ever get a use out of Silence.

As for Anger Problems, it could be amazing paired with either Enduring and Spirit Fury as part of an aggressive anti-pallet build, but that's three perks devoted solely to shortening chases, meaning the Killer has to rely on their power for either slow down or tracking (Hex: Ruin v. BBQ/Nurse's). I could only really see Anger Problems working on Legion, Doctor, or Freddy, since their powers, theoretically at least, provide both slow down and tracking.

These are all cool and interesting concepts, but I'm not sure how well they would work in the meta without some changes.

  • I have no clue. Maybe?

I play on PS4 tho, so probably not.

  • @TheGameZpro3

The first one seems really conditional. If someone gets seen first they'll technically enter a chase and your perk will be wasted even if the Killer focuses on you. I wouldn't run it.

The second one seems like it could be okay at disguising your location at certain times but I think Iron Will would be better because this lets the Killer know that you are in a certain radius. I wouldn't run it either.

The third one is Pharmacy but for Flashlights (and it counters Franklin's). I'm not sure I'd run it outside of a memey build, but that's cuz I suck at using Flashlights well. Overall it seems like a good & fun perk to me.

  • My perks, if I were a Survivor:

    Determination

    • If you put your mind to something you know you can achieve it. In this particular case that thing is survival!
    • When all other Survivors are dead gain the Endurance status effect: the first attack that would put you into the Dying state instead leaves you Injured.
    • Your walking movement speed is increased by 5/10/15% and your running movement speed is increased by -/-/1%.
    • Instead of shuffling along lazily like Survivors usually do, your walking animation is more of a purposeful stride. Likewise your running animation features proper running form, rather than the goofy looking trot most Survivors do.
    • "I'll do the best I can. I can't do anymore than that." -The Rockstar Knight

    Sleep Deprivation

    • You do some of your best work while you're overtired! Who needs sleep anyway? You, that's who.
    • While cleansing totems, opening Exit Gates, searching chests, and running you have a chance to trigger a difficult skillcheck.
      • Succeeding a skillcheck on a totem grants bonus progression and reveals the aura of another totem once you finish cleansing it. If the totem was a hex totem, the aura of another totem is not revealed and the thunder sound effect of cleansing the totem is instead muted.
      • Failing a skillcheck on a totem causes a loud sound notification and regresses progression.
      • Succeeding a skillcheck on an Exit Gate panel grants bonus progression.
      • Failing a skillcheck on an Exit Gate panel causes a loud sound notification and regresses progression.
      • Succeeding a skillcheck on a chest prevents it from spawning a Common or Uncommon item and grants increased progression.
      • Failing a skillcheck on a chest ensures that the item will not be Ultra Rare or Very Rare and causes a loud noise notification.
      • Succeeding a skillcheck while running increases your movement speed by 5% for the next 7 seconds. You cannot gain this benefit if you are Exhausted.
      • Failing a skillcheck while running causes you to trip and almost fall onto your face. You stop moving for 3 seconds and move 5% slower for the next 5 seconds.
    • "I just have to get this done and I can get some sleep." -The Rockstar Knight
    • Successful Great Skillchecks award 200/250/300 bloodpoints instead of 150.
    • Increases your base chance of getting skillchecks of any kind by 10%/20%/30%.

    Incidental Music

    • Despite the others insistence that you really should be taking this whole life and death trial thing more seriously you can't help but think of songs to suit the situation you're in.
    • When you are Sacrificed on a hook Norman Greenbaum's 'Spirit in the Sky' plays for all players remaining in the trial.
    • When you are Mori'ed by a Mori or a Perk Dean Martin's 'That's Amore' players for all other Survivors in the trial.
    • If a Killer stays within 16 meters of you while you're hooked Lou Reed's 'Perfect Day' plays for every Survivor in the trial and George Thorogood's 'Bad To The Bone' plays for the Killer
    • If you fail a skillcheck while healing a Survivor or repairing a generator Rag 'n' Bone Man's 'Human' plays for you and all nearby (24 meters) Survivors.
    • If you are unhooked inside the Killer's Terror Radius by a male Survivor without Borrowed Time Midge Ure's 'Man Who Sold The World' plays for you and the person who farmed you.
    • If you have No Mither equipped Johnny Cash's 'Hurt' plays for all Survivors when the trial starts.
    • If you get healed by Adrenaline the Bee Gees' 'Stayin' Alive' plays for you. If every Survivor gets healed by Adrenaline the song plays for every player in the game.
    • If you get injured by a Killer with Sloppy Butcher and Blood Hound equipped then Taylor Swift's 'Bad Blood' plays for you and the Killer.
    • If every Survivor in the trial is Quentin Smith then Dokken's 'Dream Warriors' plays for all players.
    • The first time you are put to sleep The Chordettes' 'Mister Sandman' plays for you and Freddy.
    • If every Survivor in the trial is Quentin Smith and the Killer is Freddy then The Misfit's 'Nightmare On Elm Street' plays for all players.
    • When you are Ambushed by the Pig Katy Perry's 'Roar' plays for both you and The Pig.
    • When Michael Myers levels from Evil Within 1 to Evil Within 2 Rockwell's 'Somebody's Watching Me' plays for all Survivors.
    • If you are Laurie Strode and the Killer is Michael Myers, the first time he Stalks or hits you The Police's 'Every Breath You Take' plays for both you and Michael.
    • When Michael Myers Moris a Survivor with an Add-On Pseudo Echo's 'His Eyes' plays for all Survivors.
    • The first time a Survivor is put into Deep Wounds by The Legion Foster The People's 'Pumped Up Kicks' plays all players in the trial.
    • When the Plague acquires Corrupt Purge T-Rex's 'Bang A Gong (Get It On)' plays for all Survivors.
    • When all other Survivors disconnect from the trial Tiffany's 'I Think We're Alone Now' plays for both you and the Killer.
    • When you are the last Survivor remaining in the trial after the Killer has Killed or Sacrificed all other Survivors Elton John's 'I'm Still Standing' plays for both you and the Killer. The song ends if you get downed.
    • If you are still in the trial during the last minute of the End Game Collapse Kenny Loggins' 'Danger Zone' plays for you.
    • If you are in a chase at the Killer Shack the B-52's 'Love Shack' plays for you and the Killer.
    • If the Killer enters chase with you within sixty seconds of being unhooked Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up' plays for you and the Killer.
    • When you loop a Killer for 5 generators without going down while playing a female Survivor and Escape The Police's 'Everything She Does Is Magic' plays for all players on the end screen.
    • If a Killer misses 2 attacks in a row while chasing you or you stun a Killer twice while in a chase MC Hammer's 'U Can't Touch This' plays for you and the Killer.
    • If an aura is revealed to you on Mt. Ormond Resort The Bangles' 'Hazy Shade of Winter' plays for you.
    • Everytime a song plays you earn 500/1000/1500 Survival bloodpoints.

There are ways to balance a Killer that has the Power to vault and ignore pallets.

I didn't get only 4Ks on Old Legion.

It's just that BHVR would rather remove uniqueness from their game, than balance a Killer that makes their Survivor base cry a lot. And now we have Legion who is forced into playing like a Trapper after the first hit. It's so boring to play them now.

Maybe there are but to make them balanced the power would have to be really fine tuned. Too much in either direction leaves them too weak or too strong.

Also, unbalanced and overpowered are two different things.

I never said old Legion was always overpowered or got only 4ks, just that certain add-on combinations and exploits could be used to make them overpowered by making them unbeatable in a chase.

Nurse and Legion are both unbalanced because their power takes away agency from the other player and has limited to no counterplay besides hoping the other player messes up. Legion is weak because their power doesn't help them that much and Nurse is overpowered because her power helps her a lot.

I personally don't see any way that you can make Legion noticeably stronger without making them overpowered, just like I don't see any way you can make Nurse noticeably weaker without making her useless.

I do agree about the removal of uniqueness though. I don't think old Legion was good for the game, but I also don't think making them into a 115% M1 Killer was a good idea either.

@TheRockstarKnight You're fine, Rocky. c: Thinking back to when I was younger, video games was a source of entertainment for me, but it was also a source of belonging and respite, if that makes sense. So many fond memories.

@fluffybunny That makes a lot sense!

I enjoy video games as entertainment, but I also play them as a way to explore ideas & emotions. Like, horror games should make you feel scared, and if I get scared playing a game I like to look at why it's scary and how it's scares are effective.

    I guess I just like over-thinking things :P

  • When Legion's first cinematic came out, he was fleeing alongside David as if he were a survivor.

I've said this since they were first released on the PTB.

There is no way to balance a power that lets you ignore all of the Survivors' defenses. Legion can't be looped because they can fast vault windows and pallets, and they can't be hidden from because Killer Instinct lets them know where other Survivors are.

When Legion was released everyone said they weak, myself included, because they were weak. They just had unstoppable add-on combinations and no few game-breaking exploits. I said at the time, and I say it now, there is no way to change Legion's power in a meaningful way that doesn't make them either too weak or too strong.

Maybe I'm just pessimistic, but I don't think balancing the Killers (Nurse and Legion) who can ignore all Survivors defenses in a chase is possible.

Either you cripple them to keep their power from being OP (new Legion & old Legion sans exploits & OP add-ons) or you let their power be OP (Nurse & old Legion with OP add-ons).

  • @TreemanXD

I've been gaming since I was like 4 or 5. Even though I have a good memory of my early years (I vividly remember parts of my first year of life, my first birthday, and an aquarium trip I made while three years old) I can't remember what my first game was. T~T

I'm pretty sure it was the original Tomb Raider (I absolutely loved that game even though the monkey enemies scared the daylights out of me) for the PlayStation 1, but it also could have been Frogger, Tekken 3, or Rugrats: Search for Reptar.

I also played Army Men 3D (a game which honestly made a huge impression on my mental development), but I remember struggling to swap out a disc with my chubby kid fingers for the Army Men 3D disc the first time I played it so I know that wasn't my first game.

I'll stop talking if y'all don't want to hear about smol me's formative gaming years. :P

Just to make sure , let's give survivors a visual and audio cue whenever the Pig starts uncrouching.

Both those cues and the cues when she Ambushes should be map wide too, so other Survivors know roughly where the Pig is. We don't want anyone to be worried that she might be sneaking up on them.
