- Huntress doesn't need an add-on rework and neither does Hillbilly. The devs should nerf/rework/remove Carburetor Tuning Guide and Iridescent Head, buff the Chainsaw noise reduction add-ons, and then leave both Killers as is.
- The devs aren't Survivor sided, Killer sided, or anything sided. I think they just mistakes and don't think things through all the time.
I'm not defending them; designing and releasing original Mettle of Man was incredibly shortsighted, almost comically so. But I don't think they're out to get anyone or that they're intentionally trying to ruin the game for people.
- Deathslinger is in the same balance state as Release Legion with their exploits. Once more people learn to play him Survivors will start complaining.
- I don't get the Deathslinger. He still seems as boring and unfun to play as to me now as he did when he released.
-
Huntress is stronger without Iridescent Heads than she is with them, simply because she has to reload more often.
More time reloading is less time spent patrolling on a Killer that is already slower than most.
I don't object to the add-on being removed (by all means the devs should remove or change it if it's so universally hated), but I don't think it's as busted or innately toxic as everyone seems to think.
-
Wraith is adorable and can snowball very fast if he plays his cards right.
-
I'd use it less, but I'd definitely still run it on most of my Killer builds.
-
You're lucky then.
I'll admit I play mostly Killer, but I've been playing Survivor the past couple days and the only time I haven't faced a Deathslinger was one game where I bumped into a Huntress.
I'm getting kind of sick of hearing Mr. Heh heh heh fire his harpoon tbh. I'd happily take some tbagging GFs instead.

This rare bug has been in the game for quite awhile actually, ever since Demo came out I believe or possibly maybe even before. I've had it happen to me like 3 or 2 times as survivor.
It also happen to me twice as killer, but it was really cool. Like I couldn't see the gens and heath states but I could still see auras from like BBQ. The killers power and perks worked as normal, so eh. I did like not having a HUD tho, it was kinda cool.
Just kinda wished we had a option that allowed us to turn perk HUD off tho.
Definitely before: I've experienced it back before Clown was introduced. It's how I learned just how much I'd come to depend on seeing Whispers light up to tell me whether or not I was near anyone.
It's been around forever, it's just fairly rare.
-
Only you can prevent endgame 4ks from really bad killers getting lucky
What?! I thought Hugh was the only one that could do that.
-
I like Dwight x Kate; but I'm not sure if I like it more than Dwight x David and Kate x Feng.
Off hand I don't really ship anyone. If I see some cute shipping fanart, I'll be like, "Hey, that's cute!" and then I just move on.
The only ships I really think about are Killer ones, like Sally x Phillip and Julie x Frank.
And I just like to think that whenever Phillip or Frank get bullied by Survivors they tell Sally and Julie respectively, who promptly go on a Mori rampage against the offenders as revenge.

Noone. It's freakin dumb.
Survivors hardly know each other. Not to mention, they trying to survive, not to ######### each other, unlike horror movie teens from 90s.
Like, seriously. Imagine you barely escaped psycho with chainsaw and arrived to campfire. Your hands are shaking, blood pulses inside your head, but you still alive. The only thing you want - or, better say, capable of - just sit and watch campfire. The same campfire, which you hate the most, as it's a symbolic reminder that you can't escape for real. You know exactly, that this campfire is fake, just like all your hopes, since you tried to burn your hand with it.
But, still, you can't stop watching it. You aren't bold enough to look away. If you look away, you might catch eyecontact with someone, who wasn't as lucky as you and couldn't escape chainsaw psycho. You can't help but wonder, is it your fault. Maybe you were able to save them?
You trying your best to help others. Not because you like them, or they like you. Simply because you want to remember that there is something human left in you. Because it's right thing to do, even if you never see them in the fog again. Like it usually happens.
But last time... You couldn't help. And this thought haunts you. Thought, that partially because of you someone was chainsawed in half.
Okay, but imagine this from the playable Survivors' perspective. This isn't new to them.
According to what we've learned from the Archives most people just give up and let themselves go to the Void, or get bashed to death by their fellows as they go mad from the constant repetition. This happens to an endless amount of people, taken from an endless amount of worlds. A parade of faces that start scared and horrified before going dim with despair and fading away completely.
The Survivors that we play as are the special few.
The lucky/cursed ones that keep going where so many others falter and give way. Not just every once in a while, but constantly, for years, perhaps centuries marching endlessly back into the face of death and horror to say, "I'm not done with you yet; hurt me again! Hit me with everything you got."
In the face of infinite horror and unending torment they keep going; even knowing that their chances of any true release are slim to nonexistent.
What keeps them going? What fuels their hope? Their will to survive in the face of unending misery?
I say romance is as likely a thing as anything else.
You don't have to believe it or like it, but you have to admit it's certainly a possibility that they keep going because of a romantic or sexual interest in each other.
Unfulfilled promises on inviting lips. Shared desires subjugated by an endless routine of death and misery. The hope that maybe, just maybe, a day will come where they'll be free to share their burdens with the beautiful soul they've met in this endless hell. The dream that they might learn what thoughts would go on behind those pretty eyes, if only they could see something besides eternal damnation.
-
It depends on the Killer in question.
Some of them probably do, but none of them have any choice in the matter really. If they don't do their job the Entity may torture them or discard them into the Void.
In a word, they are very much being forced to kill. It's more a question of how willing they are to kill and how much duress they are under from being forced to kill.
-
I've been getting blinded even when I'm looking away from flashlights and I think Dedicated Servers are to blame.
I'd be willing to bet that because Survivors initiate the blinding action that the Survivor side has priority over the Killer side; so even though I've moved my camera on my screen, on the Survivor's screen they're blinding me and so I get blinded. If that's the case then there's no easy fix.
Either flashlights will become harder to use since Survivors will have to wait for the information that I'm getting blinded to reach me and then go back to them, giving me ample time to look away, or I'll continue to get blinded from behind.
As for the infinite blind that's a known bug and quite a few people have experienced it. If you have any information on how it happened or any clips you should report that in the Bugs section of the forums.
-
Judging from the trailer at the end of RE3's demo it seems like the story might be different and I'm mega-hyped. The demo was amazing, being able to dodge was incredibly nice, and Nemesis is terrifying! I'm eagerly waiting for April 3rd to roll around.
As for Doom Eternal, I loved Doom 2016 and Doom Eternal seems like it'll be that game but even better, but not better enough that I wanna spend 60 bucks on it. I'm gonna wait for the price to drop before I start ripping and tearing until it is done.
-
Just go do something else while you wait for the timer to reset.
No matter what caused the DC you're better off taking a break from DbD for a bit. I've had my power flicker midgame, so I stopped trying to play DBD and went and read a book.
In addition to the above situation I've been DC'ed by the game twice and DC'ed myself once since DC penalties when enacted and I've not once had the penalty timer go up.
If the game is acting up for you, if you're getting frustrated, or if your internet/power is cutting out you're just better off just doing something else IMO.
-
Heavy Metal Nurse
You play Nurse normally, but you do it while constantly nodding rapidly.
From the Survivors' POV you'll be head banging.
Not for anyone with a queasy stomach or weak eyes to attempt, obviously.
Gate Watchman Michael
Stand by a Gate all game and never leave it. Stalk Survivors that approach you, but don't Tier 3 unless they starting opening the Gate.
Bring a Tombstone and straight up murder anyone that tries to open the door.
Afterwards be sure to tell any Survivors that died that they had to be killed for their own safety.
Obsessive BF/GF
Bring all Obsession perks.
Find your Obsession and follow them all game. Do NOT hit or harm them in any way.
Ignore all other Survivors unless they get too close to the Obsession. Then hit the space invader until they are a respectful distance away from your BF/GF.
Once the Gates are powered and your Obsession leaves you must stand by the Gate waving bye (swinging your weapon) until the game ends.
The Ginosaji
Similar to the above you bring all Obsession perks.
However this time you must play as the Legion, and you'll be doing the opposite of the above.
Find the Obsession and hit them in Feral Frenzy constantly. Never M1 or down them or anyone else, just hit the Obsession with Feral Frenzy as often as possible and stay by them constantly.
If they let themselves bleed out or hide in a locker, just stand there and spam Feral Frenzy attacks at every possible opportunity.

Spine Chill and hide.
He's basically Old Legion, if you ever played against them.
Getting in a chase against a decent player will result in you being downed. So be immersed, rush gens, and Escape.

Where in the Sam Hill are they? Please help me find them.
They're out there, but most play in SWFs because of precisely the issues you mentioned.
If you play solo queue your chances of finding another non-boosted teammate are pretty slim.

Only if they try to 360, but yea.
-
Wait.
I like to watch them 360 into my body and then stare at them for a second before I hit them.

Having fun.
-
Hillbilly already has a cowboy hat also.
What we need is Huntress in a cowboy hat and duster throwing revolvers at Survivors.
-
I think Survivors should each have a unique 3rd emote. (FINGERGUNS for Ace BHVR) I don't think we should we just be giving people various dances as emotes.
Friday the 13th had them and it was fun; but this is Dead by Daylight. Meg doesn't need to be able to bust a move every time she stuns the Killer.

Pop is kind of necessary at the moment... so seeing that perk removed would be really, really bad.
Old ruin covered up the issue of gen speed, now new ruin really cranks it up to 11 (no reason to get off gens now!)
Pop is only really good on Killers with high mobility though; and they can use New Ruin just as well.
People like Trapper or Deathslinger are as like as not going to have gens popped before they can reach them simply because of their movement speeds.
Pop is as much of a placebo counter to genrush as old Ruin was IMO: definitely potentially effective; but of limited value more often than not and wholly incapable of stopping good and coordinated Survivors.

Friday the 13th: The Game had a long period with no new content while they worked on an Engine update.
During that time I got DbD to try it out.
I knew about it, because I'd read good things about it in some gaming magazine that I was skimming through around the time DbD released.
(It stuck with me for a year and half, even as I forgot the name of the magazine or where I read it, because the idea of controlling the victims and antagonist of a horror film seemed really interesting.)
I'd also heard bad things about DbD from some people online, but I decided to ignore them and try it out for myself.
I liked playing as Wraith, but it was kind of a meh experience overall.
(This was during the 'amazing' balancing introduced by Howling Grounds and back when SWFs could throw matchmaking by having one person perform a glitch to trick the game into thinking they were a Rank 20. My introduction to DbD was 3 4ks against Rank 20s and then 4 stomps by Rank 1s abusing the glitch. Good times.)
I thought F13 was more fun.
So I went back to F13 when it's long awaited engine update released, but I also heard that The Lullaby For The Dark was free. So I kept DbD, downloaded Huntress, and had a blast playing both games.
Around that time; Friday the 13th lost the ability to introduce any new content thanks to Sean Cunningham and Horror inc.
So DbD replaced F13 and I started getting more into the former.
Long story short; that's how I ended up here.
-
It combos with Hex: Haunted Grounds really well.
Mostly it's my favorite though because I think the others are all worse/slightly different variations of existing perks.

My problem is since this change, when people are doing anything that isn't standing/walking/running/crouching, my hatchets just go right through them 90% of the time.
Had a David on a generator and I threw a hatchet from behind him and he didn't even move. Hatchet went right through his head/neck and it just dings against the generator.
Threw a hatchet at a Claudette that was fast vaulting from directly behind her and she literally absorbed the hatchet right through her ass and out the other end.
Can confirm; I lose so many hits against vaulting Survivors because the Hatchet literally travels through them.
It's funny because M1s still have a mile sized hitbox when a Survivor vaults thanks to latency, so I'm now better off M1'ing at windows than hoping I'll time the Hatchet just right so I can hit them after the window vault iframes end but before they can dodge.
-
I think it's a combination of Peanits' theory and NullEXE's.
Also Zarina's perks are trash and you can get the Deathslinger for free with shards.
I'm sure lots of people just got him free and totally ignored Zarina simply because she's just a cosmetic and a way to reliably unlock three perks.
Heck, I like the way she looks but I'm not getting her. What's the point?
She'll just be replaced by the next big new thing in 3 months anyway. Maybe that Survivor will look cooler/have better perks.
-
Chases are fun.
I don't mind if I'm losing, honestly that's preferable sometimes or the chases get boring, I just have fun when both me and the Survivor are doing smart/crazy clever things during a chase.
Also I like being scary/in control, so Killer > Survivor
-
I'm confused as to the problem here?
Inexperienced Killers shouldn't be facing experienced Survivors, they'll face a Meg that throws every pallet instantly, two Claudettes that hide whenever they hear the Terror Radius, and a Dwight that doesn't know what the heartbeat even means.
If they aren't that's a problem with matchmaking; which is a separate issue.
In the clip provided here a gen is completed in 52 seconds. But this is the first gen. There are four left now for the Killer to patrol and there is now less distance he needs to patrol.
Killers don't need to kill everyone every game.
They don't need to down someone before the first gen.
They don't need to find someone before the first gen.
These games are played by people who are playing against other people.
People have bad luck and make mistakes. It happens.
If Tru3 had gone in a different direction at the beginning of the game things could have played out completely differently and it might have taken 2 minutes for the first gen to be completed.
Does that mean that Killers are crazy strong and Survivors need repair speeds increased? No.
A gen getting completed in the first 52 seconds by experienced Survivors that are aware of how to play the game is not a problem.
Maps where the Killer has to abandon a chase or just lose, the massive disparity between Solo Survivors and SWFs, the equally massive disparity between Killers with high mobility and those without, and the inherent weakness of Killers that have no chase power/cannot down Survivors outside of using their basic attack are problems.

oh yea i see on the wiki it now has a 50% of keeping them/not being used up
I believe you misread.
It says you have a 50% chance of getting two add-ons through Ace In The Hole and that the ability to keep add-ons is not based on chance, but guaranteed.
10/25/50 % chance to find a second Add-on of UncommonRarity or lower.
Ace in the Hole allows you to keep any Add-ons your Item has upon escaping.

what does that do? does it now give more of a chance of keeping addons?
It guarantees that you keep the add-ons on any item you Escape with.
Or it's supposed to if it works correctly.

I play on ps4 so it might be different but I've not had issues with dcing.
This latency issue has really put a damper on the plague for me. Just trying to infected everyone as quick as possible, I hear their reaction and go for someone else. It takes me a couple of seconds to realise that it didn't count.
Would be nice if they mentioned that she lost her power like that in the description.
Anyhow thanks for the info.
Probably just a me thing then.
Agreed on the latency thing being a major bummer; a big part of my strategy as Plague is to throw up just a little and then M1 them to build up STBFL stacks.
They probably should put disclaimers for her, Michael, and Ghostface's powers; seeing as it can be a pretty nasty issue to get blindsided by.
Glad I could help in some small way.

It's not bannable, but if EAC raises a fuss about it the devs won't help you. That said, EAC shouldn't raise a fuss about it.
Also, love the username by the way.
-
- You clearly didn't read my comment. Pushing buttons rapidly isn't an issue for me or my friend.
- I'm pretty sure using macros is a bannable offense. Or at least it was at one point in time.
- I play on PS4.
- This doesn't do anything to resolve the issue of "Why does the struggle mechanic exist as a button mash anyway?", it's just a workaround. (Of which there are other, less dubious methods - like rebinding the struggle button to your mouse wheel or your joystick)
-
For the first, there are times where you can hit Survivors with the Corrupt Purge but not infect them. They'll react like they're being hit, but not actually gain infection thanks to latency.
I've launched a full stream of puke into a Survivor and not infected them at all. It's not a bug or the devs' fault, just one of the joys of dedicated servers.
For the second, it's intended that she loses her power completely whenever she's stunned with a pallet. Just a pallet, Head On and DS have no effect.
I don't really know why, but that's how it is.
As a counter question have you had any problems playing Plague OP since Deathslinger was released? I've been disconnected twice while charging my Corrupt Purge. Wasn't sure if it was a me thing or a Plague thing, as she's had similar bugs in the past.
-
I have a friend who lives several states away, so when we play Survivor together she tends to experience more than her share of lag. It doesn't happen that often, but there have been more than a handful of times where she'll be pressing the struggle button and just die anyway thanks to latency.
It's not that big of a deal, but it is annoying and the struggle mechanic itself doesn't provide anything positive to counteract this sentiment.
I mean, what's it supposed to do? Oh joy, I get to mash a button for 30-ish seconds? Oh no, how scary it's the Entity's big spider toe?
There are a few scary things in DBD, but the struggle mechanic is not one of them.
At best it freaks out a brand new player the first time or two they experience it. At worst it annoys them because they're dead before they understand what's even going on. There's simply no reason for struggling as a button mash to exist and plenty of reasons for it to not exist.
I propose Survivors struggle automatically, and hold a button down to give up.
-
The Huntress.
The most balanced Killer and the Killer with the best add-on set. She has like 1 bad add-on, 2 meh, and all the rest are various states of good.
I also just really like playing as her personally.

@Respectfulnancymain said:
Why the hell does it have 2 pallets on the same loop in the main building? werent those removed like a year ago?
Double pallets were removed; but then the devs did a rework of how prop spawns on all maps- hooks, totems, gens, and pallets -are generated for, I believe, the Freddy and Springwood Rework.
So now each map has a set minimum and maximum number of pallets it can have. If it fails to reach the minimum score a loop can receive two pallets.
Because Disturbed Ward spawns a LOT of totally empty tiles around the central building and relies on RNG for the outer edges to have pallet spawns, it usually causes the central building to have like 4+ safe pallets connected to window loops.
Why this happens only the devs can tell you, but I hope this explains how it happens.

Killers complain when survivors loop and killers complain when survivors hide (pretty funny). It's fine.
This.
Yeah Survivors ar3 invisible in the new map's bushes, but they're not doing gens by hiding in a bush. The immersed Survivor is free to have tons of fun staring at a shrub for 3 minutes while I play a 3v1.
It's not like you can't pull similar stuff off on other maps.
And if someone just crouches midchase you feel around. When you bump into something you get a free hit.
If someone pulls off a Houdini midchase without Poised then that's just me getting outgamered. I mean, you move at near double their speed while they walk or crouch: their timing has to be amazing if they pull off an 'around the corner vanishing act' and aren't found again instantly. And if I stopped looking at them that's my fault.
The only problem here is that the shrubs obscure scratchmarks. That happens on Swamp and Yamaoka too and it's annoying as heck because that's just the game not doing what it should be doing.
Unless of course certain parts of specific maps just saying "f u" to all Killers' primary tracking ability is intended.

Well, in his own story he says he killed without knowing he was killing, the only one he really wanted to kill was his boss, but why did he become a murderer?
Well from what we canonically know he was taken after killing Azarov.
The Entity doesn't really give Killers a choice whether they'll kill or not; either they kill or they get tortured repeatedly. If they still refuse, they then get discarded in the Void like trash.

I think you should take a break from DbD.
Not necessarily for even a month or anything, but a week or so of no DbD. Do something else with your free time instead; play a different game, watch a show, read a book, go jogging etc.
I get what you're talking about is a problem, but it's not a problem that is going to get addressed.
The most you'll achieve here is getting harassed by people who think you're upset because you're losing to the new Killer/bad at the game.
So yea, take a break for a week or two, and games should be a lot less samey when you come back (maybe not with the NOED and camping/tunnelling, but at least the Deathslinger part).
-
Either the Chainsaw Bros or Michael. After they have their turns it's anyone's guess AFAIK, but those three were specifically mentioned during the dev stream for Freddy's rework.
-
People should use the forums because they want to talk about the game\with other players, not because they want exclusive cosmetics.
If the devs are gonna bring back exclusive cosmetics they should tie them to in-game events as in the past. Not to making posts or comments or doing whatever on here.
-
Survivors should press and hold a button to let go, with struggling being automatic.
There's no reason for button mashing: it's not immersive or atmospheric and it's annoying at best, and painful at it's worst.
