If gates regressed then I'd maybe understand why two perk slots would be used but I doubt that will stop me 99ing it.

Only issue would be if it were just me left and rng

It can’t stop 99 gates, but it delays when that can be done.

If you were waiting by an exit gate the moment the last gen popped, and the killer didn’t chase you away from a gate, it would be till about 75 seconds after last gen pops before any gate were 99

I would get bored playing the same killer over and over. Half of them play basically the same anyways, so why not mix it up? There’s only a handful of killers with a super intricate power.

I experiment and change builds semi regularly, so that helps me avoid boredom.

  • @NomiNomad said:

I'm the opposite. I main Wraith and Ghostface, two stealth killers, but I find myself wanting to play Oni and Blight more and more. Sometimes Doc and Bubba.

I've also really started liking Trapper, for some reason.

I was like you. I used to have an expansive rotation of killers, including the “mighty” Freddy (But I preferred old Freddy).

I don’t even really play him anymore either.

  • @blendetteontinder said:

Streamers are saying DBD are running out of ideas in perks and killers so you are not alone.

They will have to buff this new killer as they have released him into the PTB weaker than twins lol, it usually will mean a slight buff so that he can be played then shelved like new perks. Used at the start then back to the old meta perks with an occasionally meme build

I’m actually genuinely excited about Tricksters perks. I can already imagine interesting builds and synergies.

No Way Out + Remember Me for example will make endgame very difficult for survivors with a killer that’s good at keeping up pressure.

Okay it's not that bad, bit it's close. Lery's is one of his worst maps so you need to be on-poont with going through doors. But mostly you have to chase as a basic killer and us eyiur powee for mobility, because good survivors will just turn corners.

Some pallets are playabke, like the ones in the showers and operating rooms if you are close enough.

    Ok...

Too late. Brain is shutting off, and I’m putting Blight back in the bin.

The last 3 days almost every match killers have been slugging as a first resort. Is everyone doing a challenge now or something?

Because it’s the only consistently reliable strategy to deal with survivor BS that can be applied across all killers.

That doesn't feel right tbh...i know they buffed exit gates for surv to be 14 seconds

    No. It’s 20 seconds.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

I still don't get why people make such harsh judgements during the PTB.

And before you say something like "Its obvious he's bad" people said the same for Slinger in his PTB and the same for Pyramid Head in his PTB.

Could he end up weak? Its entirely possible, but atleast give it more time than just a few games.

Jesus, even Spirit was considered weak upon her PTB and initial release. Look how foolish all those old claims are now.

  • It doesn’t work upon hatch close induced EGC. It specifically needs to have all 5 gens repair to activate. The devs aren’t stupid. They knew how broken it would be if the killer closed the hatch on the last survivor, and that survivor (already on a timer) can’t open a gate for the first 40 seconds.

  • @ChurchofPig said:

People bring up that The Trickster does not fit in Dead by Daylight because he's wearing bright flashy clothes and is not scary. Here's the thing though, if I asked you (the reader) "When was the last time you were actually scared in Dead by Daylight?" It would probably be a long time ago. For me I stopped being scared after the first 5-10 hours of playing and I have between 2.5k and 3k hours in this game. The argument of how "scary" a killer is doesn't feel very fitting for people who have been playing the game for a while. Am I right?

Now for the flashy clothing argument. Go to the freaking shop and look through the cosmetics. I'm pretty sure that's enough an argument for why "flashy clothes" isn't much of an argument once the shop released in 2018. We have onesies and elf cosmetics and you're arguing about this guy wearing hot pink and yellow? Sorry, but the looks argument died out once the shop was introduced.

I understand that people don't think he fits. That's fine, but the arguments aren't really there since the arguments used, if you play the game, aren't really arguments anymore and haven't been for a very long time. Yet here we all are still playing (and complaining but still playing).

I also think many are dismissing that in a lot of Asian anime that most psychopaths/villains in those shows are very flamboyant and over the top.

  • @MadLordJack said:

I really, really like both him and the chapter theme. I like the idea of a bright, fabulous slasher to contrast the doom and gloom that the slasher genre is all about, something about it makes me get happy shivers.

I also like the idea of his power and playstyle, so that's also a big bonus.

He reminds me of some of the best, creepiest villains from anime.

They usually tend to be very flamboyant.

  • Well you gave a vague example. The killer not being responsible for the survivors fun doesn’t necessarily mean they’re bullying if the survivors aren’t enjoying themselves. Vice versa too.

My point still stands though. Intentional bullying has no place anywhere.

  • @chadbeastofprey said:

i see people say "the killer is not responsible to make sure you have a fun/good experience" when anyone bitches about playing the game in a certain way. well...it goes both ways.

Bullying is an exception though. That has no place anywhere, even in video games.

  • @MadLordJack said:

He performs a lot of tricks.

A Trickster isn't just someone who pulls the wool over everyone else's eyes, it can also just refer to a showperson. And also I think they want to draw similarities to The Joker, given his flamboyance.

Now THAT’S a licensed killer I’d LOVE to see in this game!!!

  • Can nobody see how OP that would be?

As it is, like Plague’s Corrupt Purge, Trickster already doesn’t need to stress hard about accuracy. Sure accuracy will serve him dividends, but “spray n pray” will serve many players just fine.

Ricochet base kit will be too much.

  • It has a long cooldown even in tier 3 to discourage abuse such as slugging and dropping repeatedly.

Its really just to discourage body blocking, and discourage survivors floating around a hook waiting for a save.

Well, I typically run Spies from the Shadows due to not having many available perks (plus it's just really good, at least for people at my level) so that's not an issue currently and that approach doesn't counter people who are not moving much anyway. Like those Survivors in dark clothes who hide in dark places and jump scare me all the time when I go around corners.

Claudette's are scarier than Killers, man.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1986462#Comment_1986462

Skip to last two paragraphs if you don't want to read my mostly irrelevant wall of text.

I will not let anyone dictate how I play, not even you my friend (I will try Whispers though). I just don't like to be grouped with people, as insecure as that might make me. I always approach matches at my own pace though, sometimes there are more important things than giving Survivors' attention. Often I don't take the best options or try my hardest at the game, I'm just playing for fun after all. Besides, it never fails to amuse me seeing a Survivor think he's got the upper hand with those narrow paths and your seemingly garbage skills so far, only to find that it's really not that difficult moving around obstacles or through doorways for you. They don't seem to think that Bubba can just swing without going forward, or that he can infact make tight turns fairly easily (your best bet is still to stick close to walls though).

I'm rambling again. Sorry, I do that. From what I understand, outside of location perks the general consensus is that the only proper counter to this situation is experience with the game and how Survivors' typically act. Is that right?

And also, is there something I'm missing about Bloodpoints or is approx 80-90k really going to always be basically the best that you can earn? With the average generally being more like 40k a match? This seems pretty low.

Look in the spots you know where you would hide. It pays to slow down sometimes.

Even with Spies from The Shadows, keep an eye the horizon for crow activity. In my experience most survivors are careless and won’t pay attention to where crows are, and don’t try to steer clear of them.

  • @I_am_not_a_Killer said:

Pretty obvious topic. Finding people playing normally is easy enough, but I am always stumped by hiding Survivors. Especially since I don't really have the time to spare searching, judging by how fast these doohickeys fly when I'm not kicking them and how Chases seem to abruptly drop after these latest updates (Might just be me facing better Survivors, as a newbie I'm not really in a position to say honestly. Just feels like they "escape" a lot quicker and by doing less now, even if I can still physically see them through windows it drops the Chase/Bloodlust sometimes).

And yes. I know about red marks, blood trails, injured survivor sounds, etc. I mean for the times when they do not have the obvious tells, but you know that they're in the area for whatever reason. I am a new player still in the early ranks and I am only asking for advice, not complaining about other players. For posterity and clarity, I guess.

    Thank you reading my ramblings.

Start to get better to paying attention to crows, and their different audio cues.

Are you disturbing a lot in an area? Survivors haven’t been there recently.

Can’t hear ANY crows? Survivors are definitely around that area.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1986440#Comment_1986440

2 perks for an extremely strong effect. No sound, no blood, no mid-chase tracking.

    Exactly.

  • @Velkin999 said:

The timer is very limiting. Can't the perk tiers just be scaled more like iron will? Like tier 1 is a little blood left then tier 2 is very little blood and then no blood for tier 3. Even with these changes it's not as good as iron will.

Because it would be too busted paired with Iron Will.

Heck No Mither + Iron Will is busted if the player is exceptionally good at stealth. The killer can literally not hear you or track any blood.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

I think the point he's trying to make, guys, is that you're punished for playing too efficient. It's not just do-nothing teammates who survive and depip. It's also people who were able to do the gens in 5 minutes and probably got in 1 chase each. What are you supposed to do in that scenario? Let the killer chase you and toy with him just for the points?

    Do bones.

    Create distractions.

Both count towards boldness and altruism.

  • @sluc16 said:

It makes no sense to survive a match a derank.

Same for killers that get 3 or 4 kills and also derank.

Yes it does make sense. A survivor could otherwise just hide all match and let everyone else do the work, and either escape through the gate, or wait for the hatch.

Should that kind of survivor safety pip, or rank up?

  • It’s a very humbling experience isn’t it?

And it always makes my respect much deeper for those that dominate with her, and make her seem like “easy mode”.

  • @Unifall said:

This is not a BBQ is op post". Then immediately explains why its too strong. Bro there's a lot of counters to BBQ. Even smaller maps like the game is a counter to BBQ. Its your own fault for letting the killer see your aura. Sometimes as killer I can't even see the survivors with BBQ. You really think a killer is gonna use iron maiden? Come on bro. BBQ rewards hooking survivors and making the killer walk away from hook. Its one of the most balanced perks in the game next to pop.

I explain what irritates me about it. That’s it.

Go against a good meta team that knows these things and it's nearly impossible to win.

    Exactly.

And Victor is far too easy to dodge.

The Twins are the most frustrating killer to play as by far, against any competent teams.

    Pounce, miss, crushed.

    Pounce, miss, crushed.

    Repeat, repeat, repeat.

  • @Tsulan said:

So... just to make this clear. You are mad at a perk, that reduces camping, by giving them alternative targets. Because you shouldn´t be punished by that.

Would you rather prefer, they remove BBQ and killers camp the first living being they find?

If you had read my post more clearly...

  • I honestly only ever run Vigil when I run aura reading builds. Sure, killer running Blindness add ons is super rare, but I can’t tell you just how crippling it is to have 30 to 60 seconds of blindness when my whole build is aura reading perks.

  • @DoomedMind said:

Correct. Outside of the gas AoE.

  • @DoomedMind said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1982805#Comment_1982805

Sure, but at some moment you want that slight and little "boost", like the +15% fast vault build that allows you to avoid being hit ! That's that type of build I'm looking for, useful, more or less non meta without being a meme :)

Well if you run Vigil and come against Clown, base Intoxication will be reduced from 2 seconds to 1.6 seconds, and if he uses Ether 15% then Intoxication will be reduced from 3 seconds to 2.4 seconds.

  • @Kira15233 said:

So, we do not care about new chapters honestly, what we want is full-on crossprogression, more patches (which I know you've been doing) and etc, chapters are not important, if you care about the game and community, listen to us then

I, and many others, love the anticipation of new chapters.

  • @Phasmamain said:

Hindred doesn’t count for those two only huntresses addons

I’m pretty sure Vigil does reduce Clown and Freddy’s Hindered. It’s just that 20% of such a small time frame is never going to be noticeable.

  • This is pretty much the sole principle why I play Clown: I hate endless looping and long chases. I don’t need to worry about that as Clown.

  • @Blueberry said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1982735#Comment_1982735

I disagree. We need more killers with Exhaustion addons, not less. Exhaustion perks in their current state are essentially a free 3rd health state every 40 seconds...that is insane. Stack that with zero negative, zero cost, zero requirement, very little skill needed for them. There is literally no reason you wouldn't run an Exhaustion perk right now unless you simply did not care about winning and wanted to meme...that is bad design.

Most loops you would get the same if not more benefit just using a second slow down bottle. Not to mention extra risk for that gamble since the survivor could also get it.

Exhaustion perks and the change to Solvent Jug have been a non issue for me since the introduction of The Antidote.

If i’m Invigorated, and they’re Intoxicated, their exhaustion perk really doesn’t help them avoid being hit, even the “mighty” Dead Hard.

  • Incredibly fast.

Think about it: Clown is moving much faster while a survivor is moving much slower.

Surely you don’t require any further explanation on how powerful that is in a chase?

  • @landromat said:

Or it's just me and i can't do anything with him and his bottles. How are you doing with him?

I’m doing insanely good with him. The antidote is an amazing addition to his kit.

It’s literally almost impossible for survivors to avoid being hit when at the same time they’re intoxicated while Clown is Invigorated.

  • @bm33 said:

"Why is NOED being nerfed?" Did I miss an announcement that they touched NOED? 😂

It isn’t. Many were gullible enough to fall for a claim to “legitimate” NOED changes, and killers went wild.

I tend to just ignore all NOED posts now. They’re just nonsense.

    The perk is fine.

  • No disrespect on the amount of thought you’ve put into this, but I can 100% confidently say that Clown doesn’t need the ability to move around the map faster.

Clown exerts his pressure by ending chases insanely fast, and regularly leaving a great deal of them slugged. He seriously exerts a lot of pressure simply by having one chase quickly ended after another.

  • @JackFrostMan said:

Thrill of the Hunt. As your only perk.

It’s actually an effective strategy to just run ToTH and no other Hexes. It gets Survivors suspicious that NOED might be used, so they’ll spend extra time hunting dull totems.

okay im gonna use this build and then tell u how it worked out

Just remember, a player can’t hope to have a build carry them. There needs to be a deliberate, methodical strategy.

Here’s what I do, or keep in mind with this build.

    • I want at least 1 or 2 survivors slugged at any given time wherever possible. It forces the others off of gens more regularly.
    • As a Clown player keeping survivors injured leads to ridiculously short chases.
    • If I spot a survivor I suspect is running to assist a slug, I go for them for free hits. Even with healing buffs, that survivor will simply not be able to tap a button and get their teammate off the ground. In many instances either they go down, or I’ve arrived just as they get their teammate up, and I immediately slug them again and THEN continue chasing the healer.
    • Unbreakable doesn’t become an issue because in most cases the survivors waste it very early.
  • @Drazen said:

doubt thats gonna work at red ranks lmao, yeah for ranks above 10 could be pretty solid

I am red ranks thanks. And it does work against red rank survivors. I’ve been playing Clown since the release of Curtain Call. I’m not a noob.

    Like I said, I usually 4k.

I will just jump straight to my end point here.

As it stands character sexuality and gender identity is vague and not definitive, which i think is a good thing it lets anyone create their own identity for any character. I can say that Nea is trans, Dwight is gay, or Kate is a lesbian and i cant be proven wrong because it is my belief and there is no actual definitive evidence to prove that assessment wrong. We can disagree and have a discussion but in the end each person decides their interpretation of each character. This is actually a very inclusive way of doing things.

If they now change pace (and im not saying they cant), they are going to be creating a character that some people will feel alienated from because they lose that ability to craft that character identity that they have been able to with other characters.

Basically i would say that a policy of vague inclusivity is better than certain alienation.

I think these are valid points.

You're right on the money here, except for the last bit. TBH back when I was a teen, I was heavily biased, but life (mostly college) really made me realize that it doesn't matter who you love or are attracted to, because that is

    1. Nobody else's business since knowing doesn't harm them or anyone, and...
    2. Doesn't change who a person is. If they're an #########, then being any part of LGBTQ+ isn't gonna change that, but the same goes for if they're a good and honest person that you can call friend or even Brother/Sister. No matter what, they are human and deserve the same respect and courtesy anyone gives their fellow human.

Honestly, who cares if the next survivor or even killer is LGBTQ+? They'll still be the person you count on to have your back and unhook you, heal you, do the gens, open the gates, or camp, tunnel, Slug, and/or provide decent opposition to you. In all honesty, It doesn't matter who the character is since we'll all be playing them regardless of our own personal sexual preferences, so that "kinda" defeats the purpose... but at the same time it simply doesn't matter, since we don't and shouldn't care.

Bottom line is, It's nothing to complain about much less get up in arms over. For those who do however, I hope you can accept this character as another digital human being and at least agree to just tolerate it if not accepting it, whether you end up enjoying it or not.

    Personal note for @TheClownIsKing :

That last bit was crazy antagonistic dude... Jabbing at the reason people might be LGBTQ + phobic by assuming they might be "in the closet themselves" and can't admit to it is a real crass, tasteless, and early 2000's era dick move. I'm saying that there're many reasons for people to be LGBTQ+ Phobic that aren't necessarily good or justifiable ones for sure, but that jab in particular makes the rather pejorative assumption that "anyone who is opposed to LGBTQ+ is themselves actually LGBTQ+ and trying to fight it", and that's a really awful way to end the post. You might want to edit that out.

It may seem crass, but time and time again it’s proven (or they’re caught out) that the most vehemently opposed are closeted themselves.

There may be exceptions, but they’re rare.

It was not meant to get an answer. I find it peculiar people are this invested in characters with depth of puddle like gta online character.

Ok. Seeing as you’re persisting, here’s my take.

It’s not so much about actually caring very strongly about an in game characters sexuality while actually playing the game. Especially when that makes absolutely no difference to the gameplay.

It’s more about the implication that LGBTIQ+ people are being reminded that they’re not included. Which can also feel like “you’re not welcome”.

Could you imagine if every character in DBD were white? Even though the characters race has absolutely no baring on gameplay, there would be uproar if the response to “Why are there no black (or other) people in DBD?!” was “Why should it matter? It’s just a video game”

Some LGBTIQ+ people still have a damn hard life. ANY role models, even a thin bare one in a game like DBD is better than NO role model at all.

  • I genuinely love it.

I’m not being controversial for the sake of controversy. I just like it whether survivor or killer. Chases feel more intense and exhilarating on this map now.

It wouldn't and maybe I worded it in the wrong way, but that's not how I meant it.

My point was, although representation is necessary, in a game like dbd, it's not exactly a top priority, as your top priority is trying to survive a merciless killer. I added cooperation into my original comment because that's how I view the survivors working together.

Which is why it will likely be mentioned in lore, and nothing more.
