As a survivor main I can confirm this. But I can also say the same for survivors. I'm tryna keep the survivors and killers from quitting this game when I run into them, but I dont think they're up for a compromise. Everyone gets very salty

It's true that there's a lot of salt on both sides with the event. The good news is, is that me and my friends had a much better experience the following night. We didn't get a whole lot of jerks, but surprisingly we didn't come across a lot of people that wanted to farm either. Certainly not blaming people for wanting to play the game normally, but I thought I would have come across people wanting a farm more than ever.

  • All of these perks just highlight why they need to have blood hunt events more often. If not, then they need to remove the tiers that are associated with perks. This is why I have not prestiged any character, because it takes far too much grinding to obtain every perk all over again.

Well I understand that. But you can turn a 20,000 point quick game into a 80,000 point quick game with, event, BBQ, and a Pudding.

I am with you myself, I prefer to just play and be a little chill during these events, but it depends on my competitors. If they are body blocking my hooks and flashlighting me at every pick up, well then they are not worried about playing chill and letting me get my points.

So I'll sweat and get into the next match quickly.

That's fair. If you're going to be sweaty to me then I'll be sweaty right back! But no one wants a full night of that either. At least it's nice to know that both Killers and survivors have an easy way out that doesn't result in disconnecting.

Short matches mean more matches which actually equates to more blood points.

    Especially with BBQ and puddings.

Normal matches for killers during a blood hunt event can bring in upwards to 80,000 blood points or more. I'd rather have one of those instead of three quick 5-minute matches that barely nets me 20,000(before double bp).

  • @PubStar87 said:

I agree. Killers have been super extra sweaty, campy, tunnel-y, and just generally mean tonight. Like they don't understand that short matches mean less BP. But I think it's because between SURV's using a bunch of BP streamers/cakes/petals, killers using their own BP offerings, BBQ&C, and the 2x event, they aren't bothered much by it. They're still making bank. Plus, the good players KNOW every 2x event is like this, so they're all playing Killer. And 2x attracts those infrequent players, so those of us interested in playing SURV tonight are getting sandbagged by potato players.

It's truly a super fecal-infused cocktail. Nights like this make me wonder why I even play DBD anymore.

That's true. Events like this do bring back the casual players that have no interest in playing fair. I'm a casual player myself, but I have no fun being a jerk to others.

Sometimes I wonder if DBD would benefit from having both a ranked and an unranked mode. If your rank matters to you that much, then I'll have fun reaping the same benefits in a mode the sweaty dedicated players have no interest in!

Just to restore the faith, the rest of my matches after this first dumpster fire were much better. It has actually been a great night where most matches everyone got in the 20k's. So I have to give good DbD game play credit when it is due.

Very true! I'm hoping for better matches tomorrow as I would like to play up last night's matches as a fluke.

After everything I encountered last night, I loaded up a killer match and farmed with the survivors. I needed to cleanse the bad taste those matches left in my mouth! We all had fun, and it worked out well for all of us. I walked away with 83,000 blood points!

  • @alaenyia said:

I have played 1 match so far tonight, basement camping Bubba slugging people in the basement watching them bleed out. He got like 14k, what was the point of that ridiculousness. SMDH

🀦 Nothing like starting the night off with a bang, huh?

  • @Sluzzy said:

Your suffering is because killers have gotten too powerful in this video game. They also take the game way too seriously. I quit very early tonight myself, have no further desire for the rest of the night to play the sweaty slug game and watching another bloodbath unfold. I don't know how survivors re-queue knowing the outcome will be the same.

Personally I think survivors can be just as powerful if they work well together in a swf. But I digress, if it wasn't for the fact that I was playing with friends, like you I would have stopped playing hours ago.

Our blood was boiling to the point to where all you could hear was heavy breathing. πŸ˜„ At that point we knew we had to shut it off and take a break. Maybe things will be better tomorrow. 🀞

  • @Kolonite said:

I doubt it’s because of double bp as they’d earn more just playing like they did before the event.

They're doing it for the "easy wins". They don't understand that the less you do the less blood points you get. Time and again I would die within minutes, even with having decisive strike because I would either be incessantly tunneled, or not allowed off the hook.

Nothing like walking away with a cool 10,000 blood points because the killer literally would not let me do anything.

  • @OniWantsYourMacaroni said:

Hmm,haven't run into any unusual behaviour tbh.

    Want to switch?πŸ˜„

  • @bjorksnas said:

personally using the event I haven't brought a mori or done some hardcore tunneling that wasn't deserved (working on a gen with ds while injured fresh off hook instead of getting healed is probably the number 1 reason that I might consider tunneling you)

I did the same in my killer matches. Yeah if you go straight to a gen or into a locker right after being unhooked, then yeah you've already let me know exactly what's going on and I'm going to work on getting that decisive strike out of the way. But otherwise I'm going to play the game normally.

If you indicate that you want to farm then I'm all for it right now, but I'm surely not going to look to end the match as soon as possible.

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

I agree. I've had nothing but Freddys and Spirits, camping and tunneling out the ying yang, and three of them had ebony mori's.

I guess you could say we "lucked out" there since we only had one killer with a Mori, but holy hell we had to stop playing just so we could cool our jets! LOL

  • @bjorksnas said:

It also brings out the bad in some survivors, tbagging, flashlight clicking, map offerings, and complaining in post game chat even with a combination of the three

You're not wrong there! Our very first match resulted in a random disconnecting upon being put in the dying state (why risk a penalty during a double blood point event?), And in another match another random was purposefully teabagging my teammates.

The toxicity has been dialed to 11!

  • Survivor: Sprint Burst. Dead Hard is nice, but watching a killer stop in their tracks as they watch you burn rubber can be rather entertaining.πŸ˜„

Killer: Surveillance for info and Enduring for safety. Knowing that I don't have to be afraid of pallets is really nice.

  • Matchmaking is a s*** show. Plus your experience goes to show just why there needs to be a practice mode in DBD. Nothing worse than trying to test out a killer you've never played with before, all-the-while getting stomped over and over because you keep getting matched with or against players you never should be getting matched with.

  • @TKTK said:

You call this an event? I'm sorry but if this is your first dbd event they've done way better in the past, I'm sorry this is now the experience you'll expect from dbd events from now on.

Sadly it is my first DBD event. I keep hearing about the great events that they've run in years past, and it's amazing how this pales in comparison. Not only was I looking forward to something that they've done before, but having such poor optimization during the event has really soured me on the whole DBD experience.

they guaranteed a 60 fps on ps5 and a free upgrade from ps4. if they can't deliver...

Not delivering seems to be the status quo with DBD though, especially with consoles. Awhile ago they said the consoles would be optimized and that never happened. So I'll believe it when I see it.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

good ######### luck at 3 am

Everything operates on BHVR's end. Having new hardware doesn't necessarily mean that an online only game is going to run smoothly.

  • @kcwolf1975 said:

If this were an actual event, i would agree with you....

    True.πŸ˜•

  • Practice makes perfect, but you also need a quality matchmaking system in place that isn't going to completely wreck you. Last match I played, my rank 14 Killer went up against a SWF that was all rank 4. Needless to say it didn't end well for me.

It's easy to say, "don't let it get to you", but not caring can only take you so far.

  • Almo stated that the MMR is a priority, but didn't say when it would be implemented.

The game continues to lose players do to matchmaking, the incessant grind, not to mention all of the bugs and glitches. DBD on Steam just lost 9,000 players within the last 30 days. Hell PS4 owners are currently experiencing one of the worst performance issues ever which is making the Halloween event completely unplayable for them.

Unless BHVR seriously turns things around for the better, then this game is going to crash and burn with no hope of recovery.

  • One of the mods did state that a patch was coming later this week, but even so that means that dead by daylight will only have a few days of playable sustainability before the event is over with. If that ends up being the case, then I think every single PS4 owner should file an official complaint with BHVR because being unable to play the event without such a massive handicap has made the experience of playing DBD worse than it ever was.

  • I'd settle for either fairer matchmaking, a practice mode, or reducing the grind. Granted we need all three, but after 4 years I'd easily take one of those.

  • @Mandy said:

I have posted on a thread earlier to advise that we will hopefully be pushing a tentative fix for the fps issues on PS4 later this week.

I'm glad that a fix is coming, I really am, but knowing that the event is only going to have a few days of sustainable playability for us PS4 owners is really disheartening.

  • Yeah DBD very much resembles a free-to-play game these days except for the fact that we spent money to buy the game, we spend more money every three months for DLC, we spend even more for rift passes and cosmetics, and yet the game is still plagued with bugs and glitches.

The game has lost 9,000 players over the last 30 days on steam, and it's not hard to see why. Between the painstaking grind, the performance issues, and the absurd matchmaking, it's a wonder that anyone still sticks around. Newer players sure as hell don't.

  • It used to be killer, but the matchmaking is so god-awful that on average I'm being matched against survivors that are 10 levels higher than me. I got tired of the sweat fests and the apprehension that comes with playing killer, so I now main survivor. It's more relaxing and a more fun experience.

  • We're halfway through the "event", and the frame rate issues still plague the PS4. Honestly I've been logging in each day to claim the free blood points and shards, but otherwise I've been holding out until the frame rate has been fixed.

I play on a PS4 Pro, and the start of every match looks like a flip book, that's how bad the frame rate is. Missing out on the event because the game on an entire system is damn near unplayable is disheartening to say the least. I would say give us free blood points to make up for the frustration, but I feel we deserve more than that.

  • A streamer by the name of Tericho uploaded a recent YouTube video where he shows off Steam stats for Dead by Daylight. In it he shows that within the past 30 days Dead by Daylight has lost almost 9,000 players.

A lot of it has to do with the game being 4 years old and still being full of glitches and bugs. The matchmaking is utter crap which sends new players fleeing, not to mention dead by daylight has probably one of the worst grinding mechanics of any game in recent memory.

All of this is culminated to where only the most dedicated of players that have hundreds if not thousands of hours invested into the game are the ones left standing, which is why so many matches end up being a sweat fest.

  • IMG_20201013_220148__01.jpg

That's not too far off from what I experienced a few weeks ago. The matchmaking is absolutely detrimental to this game's health. It's just one of the contributing factors as to why this game continues to lose players.

  • @theplaggg said:

I was already wondering why my game was lagging so bad and I blamed my own internet connection.

I really hope they fix it asap for ps4 players to enjoy the "event".

Yeah rest assured that it's not your internet. The lag is really bad for all PS4 users right now. You don't want the devs to rush a patch through since that could make things worse, but at the same time they need to make it up for those of us that are having a bad experience with the event.

  • @TatsuiChiyo said:

At least you're able to play. Mine runs so bad it crashes, kicks me out of games, and than I get DC penalties

Make no mistake, I'm experiencing all of that too! Last night I was playing with some PS4 friends, and not only did we have one game crash right when the game started, but some of us experienced lag that was so bad that it took 60 seconds before things eventually became tolerable.

This lag is basically giving Killers on other systems an unintentional perk. It's like corrupt intervention, but for game code. πŸ˜•

  • Thankfully I waited, but I feel so bad for all of the players who grinded game after game to earn enough shards to purchase these skins, only for these skins to go on sale. There's absolutely no reason why BHVR can't refund shards back to players' accounts.

If the sale went live at the start of the Halloween event then that would be one thing, but it didn't. BHVR, you have a moral responsibility to do right by your players. We spend money every 3 months for DLC, we spend even more money on rift passes and cosmetics. Backing all this up with strong customer support is the least you could do.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

WGLF actually just buffed nicely so its a lot easier to get 4 stacks in a match. Play well and you'll be rewarded.

Do you realize how incredibly situational those "buffs" are though? Not only do you have to hope that a survivor goes down at a pallet, but it's hard enough getting the right angle for a flashlight save. Not to mention lightborn can actually prevent flashlight saves altogether. Healing someone from the dying state takes a bit of time, so there's no reason why you couldn't get a stack for WGLF from it.

Getting stacks of BBQ isn't hard and neither should getting stacks for WGLF.

The thing is - if he's successful but that low on rank, he either doesn't play the game for a lengthy amount of time or frequently throws the matches on purpose. Both will get him pretty low on MMR. And if he continue to do that - he'll probably stay low.

Another bad thing about MMR is that if he's a good Trapper and is high on MMR but doesn't play Wraith and is low on him he can just play Wraith to bully some noobs. An when he start getting strong competition on Wraith he can switch to Billy, Bubba, Myers or any other M1.

What I mean is that if a killer wants to bully new survivors, MMR won't hinder that ability but likely will give him even more options. So I wouldn't have high hopes for that.

There will always be a loophole that players will be able to exploit, but if there's one thing dead by daylight desperately needs, it's quality matchmaking. I've accepted that nothing will be perfectly balanced in this game, but we all deserve something better than what we currently have right now.

  • @ZerLukas said:

There are killers who don't play the game that often and so derank very far so it is possible to have a fully perked killer even in rank 20.

But 4 perks don't really mean much - it only means that this player was recently leveling up that killer.

Also MMR won't help you much. If that killer is a fully perked rank 20-15 he prpobably didn't play much recently and after MMR is on he'll still be at the bottom.

Assuming the MMR is still designed to work in the way that the devs say it is, then it's supposed to gauge how successful and how often you play each killer. Since ranks don't play a part in the MMR, it would make sense to see a successful "rank 20" go up against a higher rank should that player be very good with certain killers.

Well, if they're above 15 (16, 17, etc.) That is exactly what is happening. You can't de-pip past 15, you can only rank reset past 15. (Unless it's bugged)

Matchmaking does make the killer experience incredibly trying, so it could have been a mix of deranking and rank reset. Either way, the devs really need to get the MMR back on.

  • @OBX said:

A lot of killers have simply gotten worn out due to many different reasons and likely got deranked due to rank reset. I personally (after 2.5 years of killer main) have basically stopped playing it aside from dailies and rifts.

I can see why players would get worn out on playing killer. Playing survivor can be a relaxing, stress-free experience, whereas playing killer can be a sweat fest, especially with DBD's abysmal matchmaking.

Maybe that's all it was. Like I said I didn't want to rule it out, but it was definitely an odd thing to see.

  • I'm still fairly new to DBD so this is my first Halloween event, but based on what BHVR has done in years past made me eager to play the upcoming Halloween event. But now that we're here, nothing about this resembles an event in any way shape or form.

The bloodpoint offerings are a joke, you can't earn any cosmetics by playing the game, hell there aren't even Halloween decorations in the maps. Why would they call this an event? I've seen other players call this a battle pass, and I couldn't agree more.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Or Killer's that haven't played in a while, who got deranked back past 15 (Monthly reset can derank you past 15 for some odd reason)

At first that's what we thought, but the more it happened last night the more we thought that this was more than just a coincidence.

I don't know. I won't rule it out, but I've never encountered so many low-ranking killers with high maxed out perks before.

  • Honestly the abysmal matchmaking is what makes this game damn near unplayable (for me). If you play solo survivor then you stand a good chance of being paired up with a good team, whereas if you're matched against a good team as a killer, then it's nothing but a sweat fest, especially if God forbid you're new to the game or a casual player.

  • Yeah what a great "event". Charms that can only be obtained through streamers, and cosmetics that can only be attained by purchasing another rift. BHVR is really screwing over their player base this year.πŸ˜”

You know the one change to wglf that everyone was asking for on the PTB was this exact thing...I think it's now confirmed that ptb feedback is quite literally useless, as well as the feedback tab on the forums. What's even the point of suggesting things anymore lmao, especially if mods are just gonna dump anything that even slightly resembles a suggestion to the game in here, creating this massive backlog of topics that's impossible to get through and find the actual good threads again (and that's assuming they actually have the time to look through them in the first place, the amount that's currently on their plate I'm pretty sure they don't)

There have been things that the DBD audience has been asking for years that have still not been addressed. I've lost count how many times people have asked for a single player/training mode. Maybe we'll finally get a quality matchmaking system in the new MMR, but that has yet to be seen.

  • Healing someone from the dying state takes a bit of time. If the killer is cocky enough to leave a survivor on the ground and another survivor is able to heal them, then they should absolutely get a token for WGLF.

  • @malloymk said:

The lore isn't even all that good though.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1689821#Comment_1689821

I think that has to do with there being more red rank survivors, tbh. But even so, it MM does some wild stuff.

Last week I was watching Otz, I'm same region as him, both rank 1. He kept instaqueuing, and getting rank 1 survivors. At the same time, I was queueing, and getting green rank survivors. There were clearly enough red rank survivors playing at the time, so why did it decide to give me such a mismatch? It's not fun when I get pitted against survivors who hug the edge of the map; it just makes me feel bad, because they never should have gotten me. I see the opposite happen aplenty too when I play survivor; it's so bad.

I think DBD could really benefit from a single player/practice mode. I know it will never compare to playing against actual live players, but DBD doesn't teach you anything, and DBD desperately needs something that allows newer players (and even experienced players) to test out the mechanics. It's one of the reasons why I don't play with killers that I've never played with before. I don't need to sweat when I'm learning.πŸ˜•

It actually does the same to newer survivors that it does to newer killers; if it doesn't find higher rank killers games for a while, it will give newer survivors that queue up instant queues into that killer.

You're not wrong, but just speaking from my own experience, I tend to see more mismatched killers than I do survivors.
