I had a match against leatherface and the person playing as leatherface camped each player he hooked. Once we realized what he was doing we just informed the last surviving member to just go for the hatch because the killer isn't giving us a chance to play the game any more. When the match was done he was ranked 9 versus our levels of 18, 19, and 20. Now I see how he got to be so high in level.
But as much as I want to be angry at his preferred play style, I was more upset with the matchmaking system. Had the matchmaking system been better, we never would have faced someone like that.

Sorry didn’t see part about no perks equipped. I play on ps4 and was playing dark souls 3 some last night and got invaded by someone who was invincible and couldn’t be killed so maybe ppl can cheat in dbd to
Being a new player I certainly don't want to give anyone the impression that just because someone dominated me means they must obviously be cheating. I know that the matchmaking is incredibly unfair as people are getting matched with people that are out of their league regardless if you're new or experienced. I just had yet to see a match like that one before. To see someone play so well with no advantages all the while having a new player rank was very, very odd.

I previously stated that he had nothing equipped. The killer was level 20 and had no perks, no items, no totems. Nothing. But he knew exactly where to look. I was clear on the other side of the map when he was hooking another survivor and he made a beeline straight for where I was. That's pretty impressive for a supposedly new player.

Of course, doesn't explain how they found you. But I think we can rule out hacking. It is curious, but hard to tell without seing some footage of the match.
Yeah I wish the website was able to give detailed stats of how matches went down. Like I said I'm certainly not ruling out that it was a veteran player starting the season anew, but it was just eerie how they had nothing equipped and was able to just dominate us within a matter of minutes.

It can't be a hack. 100%.
Right I get that when legion hits you she can see you if you are within her heartbeat radius, which is why I tested the theory to see if I could still be seen if I went to the other part of the map. She was in the middle of walking a survivor to a hook when I went to the other side of the map. Like I said no perks or items were equipped that would have given the killer an indication of where I was. They just knew. And it happened this way for all of us. Pretty impressive for a level 20 killer.

Yeah I'm a brand new player to both killer and survivor and last night we got ranked with a killer that was clearly out of our league so I feel your pain. Some players may say use this opportunity to "get good", but it's hard to "get good" when you're getting wrecked match after match because you don't have the experience or the perks to barely last 5 minutes. This is what causes multiplayer only games to have dwindling player bases.

The grind is really bad for new players, I understand that. So I would say to play all killers and survivors find out your playstyle for killer and use the knowledge of playing both sides to help in improving
Also the archives are new and offer challenges for BP (and rift points) so doing those can ease some of the pressure of the game as a whole...
I wouldn't worry about MM or rank... go into every game trying something new or learning what works for you... this game can be a lot to take in but use what you know to improve how you play...
PS4. Getting into a match can sometimes take a little long but otherwise I don't have a problem. It's just that once I do get into a match that's when everything goes south as sometimes I'm being tasked with capturing survivors that are all single digits vs my level 20 killer.
I don't want to quit as it can be blast to play, but the grind is just too much to ask for new players that don't have hours upon hours of free time.

I think it would also go a long way if every killer could have their own trial. Videos are great, but they can also be misleading. It would be incredibly helpful if we could all test out each killer's skills before hopping into a match. Because being thrown into a live match with a killer you're not familiar with is like being thrown into the deep end and being expected to swim. And if you're new to swimming (i.e. this game), then you're SOL.

Appreciate the help all! Glad to know I'm not alone in this. I'll keep at it, but if I keep having similar experiences, then it probably won't be for long.

The one thing you should be happy with though, as that in principle this is only done to make sure you get a match to begin with and not just sit there in lobby for 300 years.
Yeah it's nice getting into a match, but when almost every match plays out the same exact way for new players, it leads players like myself to look elsewhere. Friday the 13th had bots, so I can't understand why DBD can't as well?
