While it’s annoying that lockers counter Victor and will for a short while after release, the other issues they’ve patched up in the mean time are more then enough for me to purchase The Twins. I had a lot of fun with them on the PTB and the changes that are going live are more than enough for me currently. I’m not going to sit here and lie and say “BHVR bad, they released an unfinished product” (which it isn’t, because it’s not like they’ve pulled the rug out from under us and thrown us incomplete garbage, the Killer is solid already and they’ve let us know about the situation) because it’s not unfinished. The Killer works, and the changes they need have been announced and are coming very soon.

But you see that's the thing, some people are counting on these fixes coming soon, but when has BHVR ever done anything soon? Keep in mind that the MMR is a priority and yet BHVR has been working on this for months. The recent perk changes were originally announced at the beginning of the year, and yet only recently did we see that change.

If BHVR could give an actual date then that would be one thing, but right now all they keep saying is "future" and "tentative", because we'll be lucky if we see these changes in the mid chapter update.

  • @Mooks said:

Why exactly is it incomplete though?

just because they announced changes based on PTB feedback that they want to add to the killer and those changes may take some time because they were not intended before?

edit: have they actually confirmed Dec 1st to be the release date now?

The PTB is basically used as quality testing since they clearly don't heavily test their game in-house. The changes coming with the new killer resembles a full-on rework. If it was just a few bugs that needed ironing out then I could see them still releasing the chapter (it would be annoying, but I would understand).

There were multiple leaks that revealed that the new chapter will be released December 1st. Obviously plans could change and I hope it does, but next Tuesday will have been roughly a month since the PTB ended, so time-wise there's no reason for the leaks to not be true.

I'm fine with the mechanics being there and lack of animation but no mechanic I know the gate thing is big but lockers are more common and I really hope that the mechanic are available upon release because animations can be done after but who's gonna buy something that doesn't work properly

Both the locker and the taking Victor hostage issue are two of the biggest problems with this killer. I'm glad it's being fixed, but why rush something to release that's just going to change drastically in the future? It doesn't make any sense.

You stated that you have no problem in purchasing the next chapter because you assume that it will be fixed "presumably soon".

    I most certainly did not.

All right I see what's going on. You don't want to have a conversation? Fine, but I'm not responding to these short troll sentences.

  • You stated that you have no problem in purchasing the next chapter because you assume that it will be fixed "presumably soon". I don't know what answer you're looking for, but obviously I don't agree with your choice.

Like I said it's your money. You're putting your faith in BHVR that they'll apply the update relatively quickly, but when was the last time BHVR did anything quickly? The MMR is supposedly a priority and they've been working on that for months.

Simply put, I refuse to purchase something that even the developer acknowledged is broken and needs to be changed. It makes zero sense for them to release this to market.

  • @TAG said:

What difference does it make if the balance changes are going to come through presumably soon after anyways?

It's your money and you can rightly spend it how you see fit, but you realize that it's that kind of attitude that incentivizes publishers to push out games that are broken because they figure that gamers like yourself will be fine knowing that they'll just fix it on the back end. Remember Anthem?

  • @NomiNomad said:

Honestly... Yeah. I have no idea why they just don't delay it. More people will buy the chapter if the killer is good on release, not a few weeks after. This is quite literally the fist chapter that I don't want to buy, at all, and probably won't until they make them better.

It is good when a company delays things - it shows their customers that they care about the product. Not delaying it, only to apply a hotfix a few weeks in doesn't sit right with me.

Exactly. Delays suck, but it shows that you care about your product. CDPR delayed cyberpunk multiple times, but they wanted to be able to confidently say that the game you get your hands on will resemble the game that they had envisioned from day one. Whereas with BHVR, they acknowledge that the upcoming chapter is broken and that it needs fixing, but they're releasing it anyway. That tells me that you don't care about your product, let alone your community.

  • @CorneliusCloud said:

They said that they are working on a MM rework with highest priority. I think everyone is waiting for this. I am red rank and get unfun matchups too.

They've been saying that for months now though. I'll believe it when I see it.

  • For years the DBD community has asked for a practice mode, but the devs have no interest in creating one. Hell they won't even let you create a custom match by yourself against bots. The only choice you have is to literally get stomped over and over until you get marginally better. Is it any wonder why new players don't stick around?

  • While it's cool that this is happening, it's also frustrating because this was one of the more common complaints for those that tested the blight in the ptb. If only BHVR weren't in such a rush to release content and actually fix and polish what needs fixing.

There are a lot of things too that the devs will be fixing over time with the Twins, but instead of delaying the content they're still rushing it out the door. It's so damn frustrating.

  • @Ryuhi said:

I think my current record is 27 killer dailies in a row, including rerolls.

I think after 20 it should just print you a lotto ticket because clearly you've transcended statistical anomalies at that point.

Damn. That's one record I don't want to break! LOL

  • @Kaitlin814 said:

I could be wrong, but I think it's based on what you've been playing mostly. If you're playing survivor, it's going to give you mostly killer daily challenges to encourage you to switch it up.

That wouldn't surprise me. But at least the devs admitted that it's a problem.

  • @yobuddd said:

I’m not trying to make any accusations, but just truly curious. How were you able to buy any perks at all if this was your first match? It’s been so long since I turned in the game for the first time, I don’t recall if they give you a handful of starting bloodpoints or not.

When I logged in yesterday it said I was given a gift of 600,000 blood points. To be perfectly honest I have no idea why, but I wasn't going to look a gift horse in the mouth! LOL I had also started out with a few killer matches prior to my first survivor match.

Yeah I'm blind and missed that. I switched from ps4 to steam this month and it's been similar.

No worries. Hopefully matches get better for you. 🤞

  • @UMCorian said:

I joined when they rolled out that wonderful, zero issue MMR system this summer.

Rank 1 killers with over 4000 hours in the game vs. my zero experience Rank 20 ass with 1 yellow perk.

Switch over to killers, play 4 rank 1-4 survivors as a Rank 20. I literally got apologized to after the game by them when I don't even think I wounded one all game, much less hooked.

After they took that down, I think they've just shelved the idea. There is no match making system in this game. They just throw random people together within 10 ranks of each other and hope for the best.

Yeah I'm thinking they shelved it as well. This is probably as good as it's going to get. 😕

Its been stated by peanits a few times and why people mention it.

A killer being at your rank is dependent on new players being on at the same time and why it has to expands. It should look for your rank first of course. You know how easy it is to rank up having played on ps4 for a while so anyone can get to yellow or green with a few hours of play since you cant down rank in brown.

New players it can seem daunting but its either this or they have to wait so long for a game that they may stop playing.

I stuck with this game because I had people to play with. I can only imagine what it's like coming in solo. But in all honesty, if a more even playing field means having a wait a few more minutes for a match, then I'm perfectly fine with that . I understand everybody may not be, but I'd like to think that most people would agree that this is no way to practice.

  • @Aneurysm said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/207339/first-match-went-about-as-well-as-you-would-imagine

That's grim but it's your first match ever and you've got over 1k posts?

I mentioned that I primarily play on playstation, but I just got a new Xbox so I was testing it out there, and this is literally what I encountered with my very first survivor match.

  • @twistedmonkey said:

Thats because you are rank 20 and there is not enough brand new players to match you at the same rank.

Its so easy to get to green in a few hours of play on either side. The system then makes you go agaisnt higher ranked for quicker match making and the same goes for low ranked killers.

Apart from yourself everyone else is within 6 ranks of the killer which is normal for matchmaking.

I keep seeing people mention the "rule of six", but I've never once seen the devs mention that that's how matchmaking works. But even if it does, is there seriously no other killer across PC, PS4, Xbox, and Nintendo that couldn't be closer to my rank?

This is why DBD badly needs a practice mode like what the mobile version has. If new players are just going to get stomped into oblivion while they practice, then there needs to be something that newcomers can do that helps them to understand and learn the basics.

  • @TheHitman said:

The devs have confirmed that he'll be coming when Chapter 18 launches on December 1st. The reason why he wasn't available on PS5 at launch was due to licensing issues.

What I don't understand is why is everything tied into new chapters? Why can't a fix ever happen outside of a new chapter or mid chapter update?

  • I primarily play on PS4, but I recently got the Xbox Series X, and I wanted to see how well DBD ran. GOOD NEWS: It looked and ran great! BAD NEWS: I witnessed for myself everything that newcomers to the game are complaining about.

Not only was this a Freddy with perks from multiple killers, but it was a Freddy with a Mori. How the hell are newcomers expected to get better with something like this? This is hardly an ideal way to practice.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1760494#Comment_1760494

Bloodlust isn't for strong loops, it's for catching up to survivors who just hold W away from you and keep running. If they've got space to do that, they can reliably waste enough of a killer's time to be effective without even looping.

I disagree. A killer moving at 115% or more can easily catch up to a survivor running straight. A survivor running laps around a killer in a strong loop however, desperately needs a bit of a disadvantage.

  • @Mooks said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1760653#Comment_1760653

You seriously need to make some research about what a womb is and how a human baby actually looks like.

It's an exaggeration. I thought that was clear.

  • BHVR has no one to blame but themselves for the way Victor looks. If you don't want people calling him a baby, then don't design him to look like one. I mean hell he practically lives inside Charlotte's womb for crying out loud.

And if we're seriously going to censor people for calling Victor a baby because he's not a baby, then we should be doing the same for the Pig since she's not an actual pig.🙄

  • Strong loops still exist in the game, so in my opinion bloodlust is still needed. I agree with others that if they're going to disable it for the weekend, then give us double blood points while you conduct your experiment.

  • The devs keep saying that the MMR is coming, but they've been saying that for months so who knows when we'll see it.😕

We also desperately need a practice mode. Being expected to compete while you practice the basics is utterly ridiculous.

  • Yup, I can confirm this. I play primarily on PS4, but I recently purchased an Xbox series X (didn't manage to pre-order A PS5. Hoping PlayStation and Xbox get cross progression sooner rather than later).

I wanted to see what the game looked like on the next gen consoles, and while it looks and runs great, the UI is so much smaller that it makes it really difficult to hit great skill checks. The new chapter goes live in a few weeks, so hopefully we see an update along with it.

  • Honestly we need a skin from the recent Halloween movies. That would look great in the game!

  • Yeah this game is long overdue for a practice mode. Trying to practice AND compete should not go together without a quality matchmaking system, which DBD does not have.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1758437#Comment_1758437

Well, you describe the major thing that the DBD community wants - rewards without effort.

Without effort? Is the money we shell out for DLC, battle passes, and skins not enough? The game doesn't run like a well oiled machine. You can't work hard for something when the "job" at hand doesn't pass safety inspection.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Because those are CHALLENGES. They should take some effort.

If someone does not want to do it on a regular way, farming is always an option. In the end, you dont need to do this challenge, it is completely possible to do the Tome Level without having to do this Challenge.

Really, you can measure the DBD-Forum in waves:

    Daily Complaints about DS/NOED/Survivors/Killers

New Tome Level-->Challenge XY is too hard!

    Daily Complaints about DS/NOED/Survivors/KIllers

New Chapter-->New Killer is too weak/too strong

New Set-Cosmetic is released-->BHVR; stop doing Sets!

    Daily Complaints about DS/NOED/Survivors/Killers

New Tome Level-->Challenge XY is too hard!

    Daily Complaints about DS/NOED/Survivors/Killers

MIdchapter and new Rift-->Rift is too grindy and why did they nerf Perk X? The Devs are _____-sided!

Like, whenever new content is added, people complain and make a big drama out of nothing. In the end, if you cannot do that Challenge, those are 50k BPs and 5 Rift Fragments you miss out.

These "challenges" were the devs answer to not having to do blood hunt events all the time. As such the challenges should be a little bit more forgiving considering that the game is nothing but a grind fest.

  • @Tactless_Ninja said:

I think one issue it has is even if you Prestige a character, it has no bearing on anything else in the game. Your player level doesn't get a boost. You don't get any other accolades or xp bonuses. Just a few cosmetic pieces.

While that alone may be all you wanted, in every other game I've played, it usually has a few extra perks to make it feel worthwhile for all the carrot and stick you've done. Warframe just throws things at you for each master rank. Payday 2 has loads of cosmetics and bonuses.

If they followed that model, I mean, one game perk off the top of my head is permanently increased bloodpoint reserves. That's something useable and often requested. Maybe an extra 10% discount on cosmetics for P3'ing a character? Extra daily challenges?

I couldn't agree more. BHVR definitely needs to bring more to the table when it comes to prestiging characters. Getting bloody clothes is not nearly reward enough considering the sheer amount of grinding that you have to do all over again.

  • @psionic said:

My suggestion is: bloodpoint offerings shouldn’t have any cost, make them appear as a gift in the bloodweb. It doesn’t make sense to spend bloodpoints to win bloodpoints, just saying...

That would be nice. Last night I encountered a hacker playing nurse who downed everyone in less then 60 seconds, and worst of all I ended up wasting an escape cake. The match was over in less than 2 minutes, and most everyone walked away with less than 3,000 blood points. Which again, goes to show just why BHVR needs to focus on fixing their game instead of new content.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

I just don't see why you need to have every perk on every survivor, though. Why not just power level one character, either to P3 50 or P0 50 depending on your preference, and unlock all of the perks for them? That way you can always put together the builds you want as a survivor and you'll feel free to prestige your other characters if you want.

I personally prestige my characters 1) For stealth options, especially for survivors like Adam who have really visible default skins, 2) For something to do, 3) Because I don't want to be in a situation where I've committed to keeping everyone at P0 if and when BHVR finally announces new prestige rewards (or if I just decide I want that bloody cosmetic), and 4) Because I actually like switching up the perks I run. Each new prestige gives me new sets of Tier 3 perks, so I'm forced to find new synergies and run builds I otherwise might not have.

That's exactly what I do. I only have three survivors that I bounce back and forth with since every survivor is the same. Once you have their teachables unlocked, then it's pointless to keep investing in more and more survivors.

  • @Mikeasaurus said:

The grind is the one biggest reason I will never prestige again. The only survivor I prestiged was Cheryl because she's my favourite character (Since I'm a SH Fanboy) but I did regret it because I had to grind out EVERY perk yet again, but luckily it was at a DBP event so it wasn't too tough. If I do choose to prestige again, it's only when a DBP event is happening, because a lot of people use the BPS or past event BP items. If they maybe gave more incentive to P3 characters, like unique charms or a unique cosmetic beyond the usual bloody clothes, maybe I'd do it more.

Yeah it's too bad that BHVR doesn't have blood hunt events more often. I can't remember the last time they did the last blood hunt before this recent Halloween event.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Devs were talking about Prestige Rewards, but no information were given so far. I think it will be something really minor so that people who stockpiled Add Ons or Items on their Characters dont feel forced to lose it.

I can imagine it being Charms which show the Prestige Level of the Character so that other players can see that you prestiged the Character without having to use the Bloody Cosmetics.

In general, I dont think that prestiging wastes so much BPs. The amount is pretty small compared to getting all Perks on a Character.

That's assuming the RNG benefited your blood web and you got the exact perks you were looking for without having to go all the way through level 50 again.

  • @apathyinc said:

I was thinking the same, it would be great if all the non-teachable perks were just unlocked at Prestige tier 1, then at P2 you get level 2 of those perks, and level 3 at P3. I hate getting to level 50 of a bloodweb and still not having Kindred or Whispers.

That's not a bad idea either!

  • @kreeper124 said:

I don't see a point in prestiging really. It does nothing other than give bloody clothes, that I don't even wear on my main. At this point it's just a challenge for people to say that they got 3rd prestige on a character

Yeah I'm in that same boat. The bloody clothes and face looks cool, but it's not the outfit that I choose to use. Which is why prestiging needs to bring more to the table than simply an altered look.

  • IMG_20201013_220148__01.jpg

I feel you. The matchmaking is what prevents me from having fun in DBD. It's easy to say, "just play for fun", but adopting a carefree attitude is kind of hard when you keep getting wrecked over and over. It's like playing a boss battle that you can never win. Yeah you might have fun playing the game, but that fun ceases to be if you can't progress past a certain point.

It also doesn't help that this is how BHVR expects you to practice. With there being no official practice mode, you're forced to compete while you practice which sets the bar incredibly high when trying to learn new killers and survivors.

  • The matchmaking is what prevents me from having a good time. There are killers that I legitimately enjoy playing with, and swf can be a good time, but the devs state that the game is balanced to where you should expect, on average, two kills and two escapes with every match. But anyone who plays DBD knows that that simply is not true, and lord knows we all have the proof to back that up.

Supposedly a new MMR is coming, and if so, hopefully this one works. The game also desperately needs a practice mode, but right now I'll take quality matchmaking.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1752650#Comment_1752650

i agree with everything you typed except the practice part. huntress is true, but deathslinger really isnt. i say from experience oni, blight, hillbilly, even hag, needs more practice and experience than slinger.

Everybody's going to have different experiences as everyone processes things differently. For example I'm not all that great at processing really fast movements, and deathslinger requires a lot of quick fires in order to land shots successfully. I would also love to play Legion more, but I have a tendency to miss a lot of attacks if someone is juking me really fast, and having to lose all progress on my special meter bar even if I just started the feral frenzy is ridiculously punishing.

So for me deathslinger requires a lot of practice, especially since I'm playing with a controller. But for others like yourself, not so much.

  • @AhoyWolf said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/206418/windows-of-opportunity

Would be even better if it didn't have that pointless cooldown and was in general perks pool, so new players could actually use it...

Yeah I don't understand the cool down either, but maxed out it's a cool down of only 20 seconds or something like that. But I guess to play devil's advocate, I could see how incredibly difficult it could be trying to chase down a survivor that knows where every palette and window is at all times too.

  • Sorry, but I disagree with your view on deathslinger. Deathslinger and Huntress require the most amount of practice next to the Nurse. I just started playing with deathslinger myself, and trying to play what's essentially a first-person shooter without a reticule is incredibly difficult. And if you're trying to perfect your aim with a joystick instead of a mouse (like I am), you're going to have that much harder time landing shots.

Deathslinger is also one of the more slower Killers, so a smaller terror radius makes sense. And if you come across a deathslinger that is good at landing shots, then they deserve a lot of kudos as it no doubt took them a lot of practice to get that good.

I agree the mending screen should be lightened, but everything else I just don't see eye to eye with.

  • Kindred, Windows of opportunity, spine chill, and alert/OoO is quite possibly the best information build there is. Naturally the downside is that you have no exhaustion perks or second chance perks, but sometimes for fun I'll run an all information build, and it can definitely help if you're into playing stealthily.

It just sucks that perks that are best at helping new players are tied into paid DLC. DBD is pay to win, plain and simple. Obviously practicing goes a long way, but if you want an easier time you're going to have to fork over money for better perks.😕

  • I play on PS4, but I just bought the Xbox series X (please allow cross progression for PlayStation and Xbox) and I noticed that everything was significantly smaller as well. I chalked it up to the 4K resolution, but it would be nice to be given the option to increase icon size. Trying to hit a great skill check is harder than ever, and I have an 85" TV!

  • Yeah Tofu has one of the best nurse guides out there. The problem with the nurse is that she requires far more practice than any other killer in DBD, and if you don't have the time to invest into practicing with her, then I would highly suggest using another killer. I always fancied using her, but I only have a few hours a day to play games, and I really don't want to use that time to practice and grind over and over. I'd much rather tackle a killer that's easier to access, or who's mechanics are easier to grasp. For example Freddy is one of my mains and he's listed as being hard, but his mechanics are fairly simple to understand.

  • Unfortunately this is just the case with dead by daylight - the higher the rank gets, the more sweaty the matches become. This is why I hope that someday dead by daylight will incorporate either a practice mode like what DBD mobile has, or single player challenges like what Friday the 13th has.

I played with a group of friends last night, and for four straight hours we went against high ranking killers that just stomped us repeatedly. It was the day after the rank reset so we went in with the mindset to not care about the outcome, but when you get wrecked over and over, not caring can only take you so far. It would be nice to be able to hop into a single player component if you're getting worked over online. Not to mention it's kind of hard to practice when you're competing against high ranking survivors.

  • Regardless which helpful tutorials your friend watches, it all boils down to a lot, and I mean A LOT of practice. Huntress and Deathslinger require the most amount of practice next to the Nurse simply because neither one has a reticule. Imagine trying to play any first person shooter without a reticule. It's hard! It's not impossible, but if you're playing on PC you'll have a far easier time aiming with a mouse than you will a joystick.

  • The matchmaking makes or breaks this game imo. I have a group of friends that I play with on a regular basis which helps, but getting matched against far higher skilled or a lower-skilled players just ruins the fun. Supposedly a new MMR is coming, but they've been saying that for months now.

  • @Pepsidot said:

The triple bloodpoint event started on the 13th and lasts until the 15th. The only thing is... it's on DBD mobile! You may have got an email about it from the DBD mobile team - as did I.

Yup. Sadly blood points aren't used to purchase perks but instead random add-ons, which in my opinion kind of makes blood points useless. And while I love that DBD mobile offers a practice mode, I just can't do screen controls. Trying to turn and attack at the same time is utterly maddening.

  • I agree with others in that you just need to practice. Unfortunately since there's no practice mode you're stuck practicing against higher-skilled players. This can make you better, but it can also make learning Killer a chore since rank doesn't mean anything. Just today I was playing with ranked twenties survivors that had maxed out perks from other survivors.😕

1 … 25 26 27 28 29 … 46
