This is why I usually only get the weapon part of the skin. At least you get to see it in action throughout the match.
That's not a bad idea!

I personally believe they are a waste of money, but if you like them you do you.
Yeah the fact that a single skin costs about half of what the full game does is ridiculous, which is why I haven't purchased any. I would like to, but even if there was a great sale the incentive isn't there if I can't see it.

Same reason people buy fancy rims. You can't enjoy them while driving, but you can see people's reactions
Joking aside, some older killers could do with more tweaks for third person. Maybe fix the rest over time for first or third options.
I buy killer skins coz I wanna feel pretty, though.
Speaking of killer skins, spirit has a deep blue skin with white fingernails but I can't remember which it is because it only seems to look that way in play, and I've only seen it in streams.
Yeah to be honest I have yet to purchase a single killer skin because I find them to be ridiculously expensive. I did however purchase the Legion blight skin with shards, and I love that I could at least see the skin when I perform a mori. I think all killers should be updated with that feature.

The intent of your thread is obviously good natured, but I'm hoping you realize that people aren't just mean to the developers of DBD 'for the lols'. We're four years into the life of this game and it's still as buggy and unfinished as it was during release, if not barely better. Nobody is here, devoting their time and energy into forum posts/feedback because they hate the developers or the game, they just want it to be better. Unfortunately, we've hit this brick wall where it seems the developers think they know better in spite of suggestions and ideas from players who make a living playing their game.
People will be nice to you if you deserve it, and while there will always be some bad apples in the bunch, if the majority of your fanbase is negative and cynical regarding your product, you have to look down the line and ask if any of it was your fault. Most of us that are still with this game aren't doing it out of some malicious desire to ruin a developers day by calling them ######### every day. That's comic book villain non-sense, and most people aren't like that. They're just disappointed at where the game is at after all this time, and BVHR has only grown since release and made some decent profits.
Yeah I couldn't agree more. As others have said I'm sure the devs are good hard-working people, but whoever calls the shots over what gets implemented and what doesn't, needs to be fired. It's been over 4 years and heavily requested features like optimization, practice mode, quality matchmaking, etc, continues to fall on deaf ears. Not to mention the game still runs like it's in beta.
We're not hating on the devs because it's the "cool" thing to do, we're doing it because we want this game to be better. Not only does it deserve it, but so does the community.
-
The community has asked for a practice mode for years, but sadly it looks like we'll never get one. Who would've thought that I would want the main game to be more like it's mobile counterpart?🤨
-
@[Deleted User] said:
Yeah, speaking from someone that works QA, I've been disappointed that I'm unable to test anything without needing at least one person willing to sacrifice their time to enable me to enter a KYF match. (Or require me to juggle multiple accounts)
Let players start the match being the only person in the lobby. That ALONE would enable people to test so much on-demand.
I agree. Practicing while being expected to compete makes for a very lousy experience. It's hard to "git gud" when you're constantly being stomped over and over.

@TAG said:
I prefer the 300k bloodpoints as an apology, but that's just me. Neither one makes the problems go away, but one is at least a practical compensation.
And that's fine, to each their own. But like you said it doesn't solve anything. Blood points are too easy. Yes apologizing is hard, but it's the more respectable thing to do.
-
Thank you for this. Hopefully those UI issues for PS5 and Xbox come sooner rather than later.
-
Whoever gave the green light to release this chapter in the state that it's in needs to apologize to the DBD community. Not only are there far more bugs than there were in the PTB, but it's affecting other killers as well.
-
@MadLordJack said:
I actually just went against a Legion who was completely normal. Chased me and my team down just like always. Even saw the speed boost of FF activate on Kindred. I'm not trying to claim anyone's lying, just wondering if what I saw was an isolated incident? Anyone?
Definitely not isolated. There are been quite a few streamers that have posted videos of not only Legion's feral frenzy not working, but the chase music wasn't playing either.
-
I agree with others that matchmaking is still DBD's biggest issue, but considering that this new chapter broke the game in ways that weren't even broke in the PTB, I wager all of their time and resources are going to be going to fixing that instead.
Whoever gave the green light to release the chapter in the state that it's in either needs to be fired, or at the very least admit that they screwed up and that they'll vow to fix the game. It's one thing for the new killer to be broken, but the new chapter also affected other killers like Legion, Bubba, and Oni which is ridiculous. How anyone could feel comfortable selling this to their community I'll never understand.
-
If they don't address the DBD community with an apology at the very start of the Q&A, then I may very well be done with this game for good. Honesty goes a long way with me. Whoever gave the green light to release this new chapter in the state that it's in needs to admit that they screwed up, and that they'll fix the game.
Standing behind such a broken product and being comfortable selling it to your community was probably the worst thing I've seen BHVR do yet.

So bhvr has sent the dogs out. Actively removing critical comments from this thread and emailing threats.
just put your critical comments on more useful places like meta critic or steam etc. they can’t take the heat here and actively cover it up.
Yeah my post - which had been up for hours - conveniently got moved to the lesser known media tab from which hardly anyone frequents once it started gaining traction. I did include a link to a YouTube video, but my post was more having to do with the nature of the broken chapter. The video was just icing on the cake.
-
They need to fix their s***. That's what should be next. I've just about washed my hands of this game altogether.
-
And what's both sad and appalling is that this isn't everything. 😕

No Man's Sky disproves Miyamoto's claim, though. Fact is, with enough effort, any game can be made good.
You do realize how long that took though right? It took nearly a year of polish and DLC before it became the game it was supposed to be. BHVR has been at this for over 4 years and it's still a train wreck.
-
Too bad everyone can't learn this lesson.
-
There will always be some semblance of toxicity in an online game. Obviously the worst of the worst is few and far between, but when I come across that I just disconnect. I don't mind the time penalty.
But honestly DBD as a hole has grown very stale for me. The game continues to be filled with bugs (the recent chapter being a perfect example), common requests and complaints continue to fall on deaf ears, matchmaking is atrocious, and dead by daylight's one and only mode has grown very repetitive and boring. I find myself taking far more breaks than I ever have before, and I haven't even been playing this game a full year. If it wasn't for the friends that I play this game with I would have dropped it months ago.

They do QnA's and stuff like that, but whenever a question is asked about changes or upcoming content they always give non-answers, such as "We can't tell you about that," or "We've considered that and are still in the design phase."
They do them, but they don't answer anything unless it's unrevealing to plans.
Yup. The devs keep giving non-answers, and in return the community just keeps asking the same questions. It's a ridiculous cycle that I'm all too tired of. BHVR has beaten it's one trick pony to death. It's one and only mode has grown stale (for me), and all of the requests, comments, and complaints from the community continues to fall on deaf ears. It's why I keep taking breaks from DBD. I like playing this game with my friends, but it's boring playing this everyday by yourself.
-
I sympathize with you. The matchmaking is what makes this game unfun for me. It pairs up each game based on rank, but even the devs themselves stated that rank doesn't indicate skill. Until that changes we're just going to have to keep enduring this headache inducing matchmaking system.

True. The ranking system is so damn weird though.

Playing survivor you have to
Do gens... and open the exit gates
Get chased or do 2 or 3 totems... or spend time in the killers Terror Radious
Heal teammates (that want to selfcare)
And survive
Now the issue I see is that healing other survivor should allocate points to survival... and gens also should allocate points to survival
Yeah sometimes I like to play the support role on my team so I'll run a build that improves healing and the like. But what's so frustrating is that even if I do well at healing others and cleansing totems, if I don't manage to also get into a chase with the killer and do a lot of gens, then the game sees that as a failure and gives me a pitiful amount of blood points. It sucks!
-
@Stealth said:
Ya i always run bbq on killer. WGLF isn't as reliable unfortunately. Used to always run it as well but would often get 0 stacks unless I go out of my way to camp for a save before teammates and take protection hits. WGLF needs a buff.
Still though, killer deserves the most points.
I found that the only way to make WGLF reliable is to take a hit while a survivor is being carried. It counts as a protection hit, and since so many survivors try and rush in for the save it's nice knowing that there is another way. Just carry a flashlight, at least that way if it doesn't work you'll still get a stack.
-
Yeah I have a hard time letting go of WGLF when playing survivor. The amount of bloodpoints you get otherwise is so miniscule that it's ridiculous.
-
The Twins are getting a full-on rework from how they played in the PTB, so I don't plan on getting them until everything is complete. BHVR pushing it out the door before all the changes have been implemented is just greedy.
-
Wraith is so add-on dependent that he desperately needs a rework. Many players have stated that if they just included windstorm into his base kit, then that would be enough to at least make him more of a threat. That, or at least remove the shimmer. You can keep the snarl, but it's kind of ridiculous when you can actually see an "invisible" killer.
-
The devs have stated that keys and moris are being reworked, but BHVR has a track record of announcing something's happening and either taking months to follow up on it (reworked perks), or doing nothing at all (console optimization).
Personally I don't like to use moris. I don't find it fun as killer to end a match as quickly as possible, and it's even worse as a survivor knowing that you're dead after your first hook. And being on the receiving end of a mori is the worst because most likely that means you're going to be tunneled and camped until you're dead. Nothing worse than knowing that thanks to a toxic killer with a Mori, that you walked away with only 5,000 blood points.
-
The devs stated that the MMR is a priority, but at the same time they've been saying that for months. Most likely if they turned it on there would have been an official announcement, but considering how long it's taking I wouldn't be surprised if they shelved it altogether. Currently they're reworking the Twins, so that's probably where most, if not all of their focus is right now.

https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/208688/unenjoyable-matches
Matchmaking has been garbage for a long time. Near as I can tell it is almost totally random. I haven't been able to math out any equation that is being used. I track my games (both as Killer and Survivor) and try to figure out what (if any) criteria is being used. I have found zero common denominators so far. It may be there is a formula but it ONLY functions under ideal conditions if all the right people are online. Lacking that, I suspect it throws the formula out and just takes bodies. Do I know this for a fact? No; I'm guessing. What I do know is that I've collected a lot of data, done a lot of math, and have found no evidence of a consistent system so far.
So, my advice is to play Custom Games with your friends, and/or switch to Killer for while. Or you can simply keep playing and not stress over it. The more you play, in tougher matches, the sooner you will be on par with those Red Ranks. That is what happened to me. The damn system decided I was ready to take on all Red Rank Survivor Teams while I was still just Green. I took a serious beating, over and over again until I got where I wanted. Necessity is the mother of invention AND learning.
Props for sticking with it, but getting kicked in the nuts over and over until you've gotten used to it isn't exactly everybody's idea of a good time. LOL
I know the devs have said that the MMR is coming, but they've been saying that for months now so I'll believe it when I see it.
Dead by daylight needs a lot of things: more modes, a practice mode, color blind options, etc, but right now it's the matchmaking that kills it for me. I'm a casual player of dead by daylight, and trying to learn the ins and outs of a new killer while being expected to compete against higher ranking survivors is quite possibly one of the most miserable experiences I've ever had gaming.

I've heard somewhere that you shouldn't even bother to aim at juking survivor because by juking they make themselves slower and you can catch up with them. I've tried it few times and it works so maybe you could try this too! I think maybe I get on well with him is because I play COD and I'm used to aiming with a gun lol. I think they should also introduce add-on that gives you two shots before you need to re-load. Bit OP but would definitely change Deathslinger game.
I play my fair share of FPS but I'm no hardcore player, so that probably has something to do with it! LOL And like I said trying to play an FPS without a reticule for a casual player like myself is almost impossible.

@TheRockstarKnight said:
Fun is subjective; what you're not enjoying may not be a problem for other people.
However, that doesn't mean your problem isn't a problem, or your concerns aren't valid. If you have an issue with the game you should talk about it, civilly, if you want to see it fixed.
Just saying DbD isn't fun won't change anything.
-
Now if you're just frustrated with the game overall you should take a break - it's not fun for you right now so quit playing it.
Maybe you'll want to play it again later, maybe not. But continuing to play while you're unhappy probably isn't going to help you.
I agree that it helps to talk about issues civilly. After all you do want to be reasonable and not appear to be shouting to the heavens, but I think a lot of frustration also stems from the fact that so many of our requests seem to fall on deaf ears. For years the DBD community has asked for things like console optimization (which they said would happen), quality matchmaking, and a practice mode, yet none of these things have happened. DBD mobile has a practice mode for crying out loud, so why can't the main game?

I actually don't find deathslinger as difficult as at the beginning and I get quite few shots with him these days. Huntress is a big no no for me. It's a shame that joystick makes it difficult for some of the game's features (I even find it diffucult to use flashlight when I play survivor but oh well)
True you do get a little bit of a crosshair with the harpoon gun, but only being given one chance before you have to reload - while understandable - is really difficult when trying to shoot a juking survivor on a joystick.
-
Honestly dead by daylight desperately needs more modes. After 4 years it's one and only mode has grown very tiresome. The only reason I play survivor is because I get to play with my friends, otherwise it's incredibly boring. It's not exactly thrilling holding a button to do everything. That's why I prefer playing killer. But DBD's abysmal matchmaking can tend to make playing killer a sweat fest instead of a good time.

@exelse said:
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/208189/is-there-a-dlc-character-you-regret-buying
I think for me it would be The Oni. He's really difficult to master and I don't tend to play as him, however he's really rewarding when you play right. Maybe The Clown as well, just because I play on PS4 and it's bit difficult to aim and throw bottles efficiently.
I agree with the clown. I would love to be able to play the huntress, the clown, and deathslinger more than I do, but trying to aim with a joystick and no reticule is incredibly difficult.
-
What I don't understand is why aren't we getting more blood hunt events? I realize that some days we may get some blood points, but it never specifically says what currency we're going to be given. Still though, I would appreciate double blood points more than a couple of free trinkets.

@Deadman316 said:
Myers. He's difficult to use and needs to have really good add-ons for me to have a shot. Laurie doesn't offer a lot of selection of skins either and I rarely use her perks.
I find Myers to be a lot of fun, but like you said you need to have the right perks. Myers is a snowball killer, which makes having infectious fright practically a must with him. And when you combine that with PWYF, you have the ability to sometimes end a match right then and there.
-

Ash
I couldn't agree with this more! How the hell do you put in Ash and not give him his chainsaw, or at least his boomstick? It would have been awesome to be able to use one of those items as a one-time guaranteed stun against the Killer.
-
One of dead by daylights biggest shortcomings is the fact that there is no practice mode, not to mention it's weak tutorial doesn't tell you anything about the game, which forces you to look elsewhere for someone to teach you how to play the game.
A lot of people will tell you to customize a kyf match, but many people (myself included) don't have online friends that they could easily get a match like that going. The devs don't even let you form a custom match by yourself against bots. Unfortunately you have no other choice but to get stomped repeatedly until you get better.
-
There needs to be different modes that brings more variety to the game. As it is, holding a button to fix a generator, holding a button to cleanse a totem, holding a button to heal a survivor, etc, it's all rather boring. And to make it even worse you get far fewer blood points than you do when you play killer.
I've been playing this game for less than a year and already I'm getting burned out. I can only imagine how those that have been playing this game for the last 4 years must feel having to do the same thing over and over again because it's all you can do.
-
I think two of the most helpful additions to the game would be something that the DBD community has been asking for years: quality matchmaking and a practice mode. Trying to practice while being expected to compete does not make for a good experience. Nothing worse than getting stomped over and over until you get marginally better. BHVR won't even let you hop into a custom game by yourself against bots. If the mobile team can do it, there's no excuse why the devs for main game can't do it.

@DeadBobDaylight said:
Don't be so quick to assign malice. Games of dbd's size and platform base require very hard deadlines from big publishers.
Likely, they're unable to delay because they're locked into timelines with Sony or Microsoft, etc, that would require a very long reset time.
It's the reason we get Day 1 patches on basically every game now, they get the ready-to-publish game approved by the big platform holders weeks or months ahead of time and often a giant like Sony doesn't care about individual companies, they want all partners to hold to guidelines. Which sometimes means no changes X amount of time before launch date.
So, I wouldn't be so quick to call the devs greedy. After all, if they want to play in the big boys' sandbox they have to play by their rules.
Also, guys...this is a business. They don't make dbd for fun. If there is no financial incentive the devs who make the game we all play for hours a week, they stop. They have to eat. They have to live.
They're people, think about that before youre so vitriolic. It's unbecoming of the whole community.
Edit: forgot an important sentence, lol.
First of all, Sony and Microsoft are not publishers of dead by daylight. They don't dictate timelines of when content should be released on their platforms.
Secondly, while day one patches are far too common these days, such patches cease to exist with dead by daylight. Think of the insurmountable amount of bugs and glitches that seem to thrive with every new chapter release. It usually takes multiple months before such a thing is fixed, let alone killer or perk reworks.
Third, BHVR may not be greedy in your eyes, but all anyone has to do is point to the recent Halloween "event" to prove just how untrue that statement is. Charging gamers a battle pass in order to gain access to skins within an event, is not how you go about creating an event. After much dismay and out cry from their community, BHVR eventually reduced the price on the blight skins and gave us shards with which to purchase them, but for those gamers that had already purchased the outfits with their own money were s*** out of luck in the hopes of BHVR giving them a refund.
Lastly, yes game companies like BHVR are a business, but it's the money from our pockets that keeps businesses like BHVR in business. Without us buying their DLCs, buying their battle passes, buying their skins, etc, they would cease to turn a profit. Because of this it "pays" to listen to your community. For years the DBD community has been asking for more modes, better matchmaking, practice modes, etc. These requests have been made so often that we sound like a broken record, but that's only because BHVR continues to tell us that it's "not a priority", or that "maybe one day it could happen".
I love DBD like many of us do, but too many bridges have been burnt. These days I usually only play the game with friends, otherwise it's just not a good time for me anymore.
-
Yeah that pretty much nails it!

From my time here in the last 3 years, BHVR are pretty wildly unpredictable. They make promises and never fulfil them, they say they’re going to do something and then immediately follow it up with actually doing it, shocking us in the process (Hillbilly getting adjusted and listening to community feedback, even going as far as to re-adjust his newly reworked add-ons again). They release a patch full of bugs, then the next one barely has any. They nerf a perk that no one asked to be nerfed (discordance) and then revert it due to community feedback and actually make it stronger than it originally was.
Basically, they are unpredictable, but when they word posts the way they did with the PTB to Live changes, I’m inclined to trust them. I’m not entirely holding my breath though. If I’m wrong then fine, but even the PTB version of The Twins I was having fun with. Holding Victor hostage and survivors using tight objects to avoid him were my biggest gripes more than the lockers so if they release with just those fixes for now, I’m happy. Are others happy about that? Clearly not, but if a change isn’t ready yet but the Killer is still very much playable and useable, then they may as well release it. The locker counter is annoying, but it does not render them unplayable. A good survivor taking Victor hostage however, did make them almost unplayable and turned them into an M1 Killer, that issue has been addressed.
That's fair. Obviously we'll have to wait and see exactly what changes were implemented once the chapter goes live, but like you said there were issues with the Killer that some found more annoying than others. You're able to look past the locker issue whereas some clearly can not. For me I prefer all issues to be rectified before putting any money down.
Bottom line, you get what you pay for, and when I spend my money on something I expect it to work properly from day one, not weeks or months from now. Not saying you're wrong, this is just who I am.

But that's not what they said, they said:
What difference does it make if the balance changes are going to come through presumably soon after anyways?
They're basically saying there's nothing to worry about because these changes will eventually come through. Until then, you can either play a different killer or just be patient.
This is the last thing I'll say on this matter because I don't want this conversation piece to turn into pointless trolling or arguing, but the point this person was trying to make is that you might as well purchase the chapter because the changes will come soon. Having faith that those changes will come soon is something that I'm not comfortable doing, and spending money on a killer that will receive a full-on rework at a later date is something I'm not prepared to give.

The problem is now everyone that didn't already know about that MASSIVE design oversight now knows. And its already easy enough to tell if Victors near. Hear weird gurgles? Run and jump in a locker. Safe. If it isn't included in some form. Even with missing assets. This will be the most botched killer launch since Freddy.
This'll be the first chapter I'm not buying at launch. It's clearly half-baked and after Blight this is shocking to see. Still doesn't even have an original map, even with existing realm assets.
This will be the first time EVER I haven't bought the chapter pack day 1. And my first time buying a character with shards.
Maybe I'll get Elodie with shards but not even bothering with the Twins.
Yeah the Blight was another example of a botched experiment/release. For starters the devs had made changes to how the Blight played, but those changes were never implemented into the PTB. Gamers couldn't accurately give constructive feedback since they didn't have access to the same build that the devs did. Plus it was recently announced that the Blight's POV will be changing. Obviously this is great news for those that play the Blight, but this is something that should have been fixed prior to release.
-
@Sonzaishinai said:
I think only the locker interaction won't be there on release, all the other changes will.
That's great, but that locker change resembles one of the more glaring issues with the Twins. Until that change is implemented, all anyone has to do is jump into a locker and be perfectly safe from Victor.
I'd much rather have all of these glaring issues fixed first before purchasing this DLC. If that means waiting a few weeks or a few months (this is BHVR we're talking about here so most likely it's going to take months) then so be it.
-
@CLAUDETTEINABUSH said:
Probably because they're trying to rush the new maps and the killer so they can see their performance live
Probably. Yes BHVR will see the number of players rise, but everybody will be playing a Killer that is not only frustrating to play, but it won't resemble what the killer will be in the future. All BHVR is going to do is succeed at more and more gamers complaining about this killer. If they thought gamers' voices were loud after the PTB, then BHVR is in for a rude awakening if they push this out next week.

They benefit more from cosmetics, most of us get the chapter for shards and let's not forget that even if someone get the chapter for money is cheaper than a cosmetic (nosense)
Yeah I'll never understand why the cosmetics are almost double the price of what the DLC usually is. I'll also never understand why some of the more nicer cosmetics aren't included in the battle passes. That would incentivize me to purchase a battle pass more since I have no desire to spend $15 on a skin.
