It's not about perks on Victor, it's how punishing it feels to play them, you miss and get kicked, I'm okay with that, but i successfully hit and down that survivor but other one kick Victor, and they get up before i can come, if they fix it they would be fine.

I could see that being useful. Personally I think that Victor trapping survivors in lockers should be extended from 10 seconds to 13 seconds to accommodate for Charlotte's 3-second cooldown when switching from Victor.

  • Congratulations! But be wary because using corrupt with undying can have an adverse effect since it forces survivors to start searching more of the map for generators. This means that they could stumble upon your hexes easier than they would if they were able to start on generators near the location they spawned at.

  • @Ksoni said:

I actually think that the twins are 3-rd if not second best killer in the game at the moment. When the match starts you can pressure survivors almost immediately with victor attacks that are very hard to miss. If hit surv gets rid of attached victor, then after a few seconds you can go for another attack on other survivors and that's where ruin is putting into work.

If they don't ged rid of him, then you have a 3vs1 match if you are smart enough to not chase a surv with victor on thier head. I currenty run Twins with BBQ, ruin, undying and tinkerer, but if you don't need extra points then thanatophobia is a great replacement.

There are certainly different methods of play that can be had with the Twins. But using your build as an example, I can see BBQ still being useful since you need Charlotte for hooks, but Tinkerer is useless if you're not controlling Charlotte. Same for Discordance. If it's been activated but you're controlling Victor at the time, you'll have no way of knowing.

Right now the Twins encourage a slugging, camping playstyle since all the power is in Victor. If things were a little bit more balanced between the two I think that would go a long way into helping Charlotte not only feel like more of a threat, but it wouldn't want to encourage survivors to DC because of a perceived play style that they may encounter.

The problems you listed in your comment are all caused by inexperience. I assume you've not played for long and are getting put against experienced survivors who know how to run you around and do the objective. If you stick around and get more practice, eventually you'll shorten your chases and learn when to rotate between survivors to prevent them from doing the objective. It takes time though. This game has a steep learning curve.

I agree that inexperience no doubt plays a factor here, but this is inherently one of dead by daylights biggest flaws, in that there's no way to practice the basics. You're forced to compete, and with matchmaking being in the state that it is, means that you're most likely going to be sweating your ass off while you practice, and that's not helpful for anybody let alone new players.

And let's not forget too that DBD is essentially pay to win since all the best perks are attached to licensed killers and survivors. Newer players don't want to fork over money for something that they're not having fun with. The game doesn't teach you how to play, it doesn't let you practice by yourself, the matchmaking is abysmal, so it's not hard to see why people would forgo buying DLC.

The game should provide everyone with perks that allow everyone to hold their own without the need for DLC.

I think they should do the opposite. Keys should be for using it with addons, not to open the hatch.

Using keys to open the hatch is the core purpose of why keys exist. You can make their aura reading stronger through add-ons, but without the add-ons a broken key literally serves no purpose. Like I said it's like having a medkit that you can't use to heal, or a toolbox you can't use to repair. It makes no sense.

  • I say just get rid of the broken key altogether. It's utterly useless and I don't understand why it's even a thing. It's like having a broken medkit that you can't use to heal.

  • I understand what you're saying, but some perk combos are just going to synergize better than others. Suggesting that we nerf something that works good together doesn't solve anything. Pop/Surveillance/Oppression is also a really good combo, but are we to nerf that as well? What about Trail of Torment/Tinkerer/Dark Devotion? Where does it end? Are we to nerf "OP" survivor combos too like DS/Undying?

  • @aGoodOldRub said:

Last QA they said they know it and it is on the list of things they wanna work on. Prestige was a thing when there was significantly less perks survivors and killers so yeah it is just a stupid idea to prestige at this point.

They already worked the bloodweb few times atleast once because before you used to be able to unlocked 1 perk per bloodweb now you can unlock 2 also cost of items per node was reduced.

I would say do the challenges and tomes because free points for playing the game most of the time. Use we are gonna live forever and bbq on killer side double your ######### and always unlock best bonus bloodpoint offerings and use them. Just some advices if you are new.

Hopefully new changes to grind comes in few months.

Rift is pretty grindy and intended for people who play everyday indeed. Just keep it free and when you reach the rank you need to get the items you want then buy it and you will unlock all the ranks instantly and if you can't reach it on time hey you didn't lose anything because you don't have to buy it from rank 1. I really wanted the blue cube thing but wasn't playing that much to get to rank 70, btw 100cells per rank is not that bad if you are like rank 60 and it is gonna close in few hours you unlock it and you still get to keep the 1000 cells you spent from buying the rift pass.

You really gotta focus on all the challenges every single one of them to complete your rift you can't ignore any because they give you insane amount of progress.

At the very least they should allow you to work on more than one tome challenge at a time. And I think that for every level of prestige that you accomplish with a character, you should automatically gain access to that level of perk. So for example, once you hit prestige level 2, every perk you purchase is level 2. And so on and so forth for level three.

I'd say that right now the most punishing thing for new killers is the lack of any sort of decent matchmaking. New killers go up against veteran survivors, get their ass stomped, earn like no BP so they can't even unlock perks to help them out, and what, they're expected to just play through that? I don't understand why any new killer would stick around.

New survivors don't necessarily have a good time either. The lack of matchmaking means plenty of them are going against experienced killers, so they're waiting in a 20 minute queue for a 1 minute match where they have no fun whatsoever.

If matchmaking worked as it should and had people of similar skill playing with each other, then the other stuff could be worked out. If the strength of all killers depended on the skill of the person playing them, as should be the case, then that would be perfect because the killer would not be going against survivors who are so skilled that it takes an easy, superpowered monster to stand any chance.

I couldn't agree more. I started up a second account on Xbox (my main account is on PlayStation) and I use the second account to test out Killers I generally don't play with. Last night I played my very first Ghostface match. I was rank 20, and only had three level one perks to my name. Everyone else was purple rank, and had maxed out perks. After the experience I just had, had I been a new player, I never would have even considered playing another game.

  • @stargazer9 said:

I took a break from the game for a few months and I came back to the same issues. Are the devs really that incompetent? So frustrating.

They say the MMR is coming and that it's a priority, but they turned that off months ago and haven't said anything since so most likely it's not coming.

  • @danielmaster87 said:

Red and purple survivors get matched with yellow killers constantly.

And that's because they're so few killer mains anymore. Newer players that try out killer get completely wrecked. Tonight I played my very first Ghostface match. All I had was three level one perks to my name, whereas all the survivors had all maxed out perks. Such an experience is enough to put off newer players from ever tackling killer.

  • This is DBDs biggest failure. There's no practice mode and it doesn't teach you how to play. I would recommend watching streamers like Otz for survivor tips. But I think one of the things you need to ask yourself is what kind of player are you? Are you the kind that likes to distract the Killer, work on objectives, or help the team? I'm not very good at looping either so I like to help the team in other ways. I'll cleanse totems, rescue survivors from the hook, and focus on healing.

I'll work on generators when I can, but for the most part I like to play the support role, and I find that's what works best for me.

  • Tonight I played my very first Ghostface match on the Xbox series X. My main account is on PlayStation, but I thought I would use this second account as a way to practice with Killers I don't normally play with. My killer is ranked 20, and tonight it put me against rank 8 survivors. And to top it all off the three that survived all tea bagged me as they left. For all they knew I was a brand new player.

Simply put, this game is going to crash and burn because of how unwelcoming and unfair it is to newer players.

  • Honestly I like to farm occasionally with survivors. DBD is one of the grindiest games out there, and it's not even a free to play game. It's the main reason why I don't purchase any of their "battle passes", because the amount of grinding that it takes just to unlock everything is absolutely ridiculous.

Right now they're testing daily login bonuses, but instead of giving you cells (the top currency which free to play games occasionally do) they only give you blood points. And the amount is so small that just one killer match will give you more than an entire week's worth of daily login bonuses.

Simply put, BHVR needs to reduce the grind and make their battle passes more worthwhile. Until then I have no problem farming with survivors and squeezing every last ounce of blood points that I can out of a match.

  • Don't be too hard on yourself. DBD has an atrocious matchmaking system, and unfortunately the only way to get better is to constantly be kicked in the nuts over and over. Not to mention it would help significantly to have a practice mode where you could at least practice the basics.

  • Regardless I would take advantage of it in case it is a glitch! Getting perks that should cost 2,700 shards for only 2,000 is nice. I certainly did. 😉

  • Tofu uploaded a video about a week ago detailing the best way to play (so far) with The Twins. As someone already mentioned, he said that you use Charlotte to injure, and then use Victor to down. Victor has permanent 150% movement speed, and he has built-in bloodhound which is very useful on an injured survivor. And since Charlotte is a standard m1 killer, it's best to use perks that benefit that play style. Perks like brutal strength and endearing is not a bad choice, however I would say that sloppy butcher is a must.

Another tip that Tofu mentioned was that you can use Victor as a way to guard hexes like devour hope. You're stuck using Charlotte all game, but Victor helps to ensure that your hex is always protected. You just need to be sure to hide him well.

  • David's sweator though has more to do with an ugly sweator line of clothes than a holiday outfit. Even the description mentions rugby but nothing about the holidays.

  • @GlamourousLeviathan said:

I want so bad a 2v8 mode. I want to play DbD with a friend but I only play killer.

After 4 years DBD sorely needs more modes. Playing the same mode over and over gets highly repetitive and really tiring. More spice definitely needs to be added to the game.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

No, Victor isn't considered a killer, so perks don't work with him.

Ok, makes sense. I figured as much. And honestly I'm glad because that would make the twins incredibly op!

Don't bank on MMR the last time they implemented it it only made things worse.

It did which is why they turned it off. But if they can get it working the way it was supposed to, then it could be a big boon to DBD. The way it's supposed to work is that it pairs you up with survivors that are close to your rank as killer, and not just killer in general, but it gauges how well and how often you play with each killer. So if you've never tackled Ghostface before, then you're guaranteed not to get a sweaty match.

At this rate though it sounds like it would be far easier to just allow you to throw in NPCs into a custom match then MMR at this point.

  • @Mozzie said:

Matchmaking is a real issue when it comes to killer shortage. If you're a newer killer you are more likely to get matched against players with more experienced than not. This can be incredibly frustrating where I imagine the casual players just give up on the idea of playing the game as killer. I also feel incredibly bad for the people who picked up the game 2018+. You are just at such a disadvantage with the grind to ever catch up.

^This. We've been waiting months for the MMR to be turned back on, and at this point I don't know if it ever will. Newer players (especially newer killers) have such a high bar to overcome when stepping into DBD. When you play survivor you at least have three other teammates to watch your back, whereas if you're playing killer it's just you.

If BHVR is not going to turn the MMR back on then they need to create a practice mode that allows newer players (and experienced players) as a way to practice without being expected to compete, because as we all know the matchmaking in this game is seriously messed up.

Not every sweater's description says something about the holidays, Meg's for example is about sports.

But those sweaters are part of the ugly sweaters collection so they are christmas sweaters, even if the description doesn't say that.

Interesting. So then I guess it's really more of a 'ugly sweators' line than necessarily a Christmas line of outfits. Bummer.

Still, it would be nice to see that attention to skins be spread amongst every survivor. At the end of the day every single survivor is the same once you have all the perks unlocked, because of that I only main Feng and David. I know those two received some pretty awesome looking blight skins recently, but to see some survivors get more than one holiday skin, along with the recent new survivors already having received one, is really disappointing.

  • Myers. I love to play as him, but his early game is horrible. Just standing there watching while the survivors work on gens is ridiculous. Not to mention he can only suck up so much Evil Within from each survivor thereby putting a cap on his own power.

  • @indieeden7 said:

The Christmas sweaters are all to do with the character that wears them even if they don't necessarily look "christmassy". For example, Nea's just has a bunch of cats on it, Adam's is calculations on a chalk board, and David's is his rugby one.

That's odd because the description doesn't mention anything about the holidays as it does with Feng's 'Game Over's holiday sweator.

I too would like to know. Current matchmaking is such bs. I'm currently holding between rank 7&8 as both killer and survivor. Why is that when one player in lobby is rank 5 or less and then the entire lobby, killer included is the same. Why is it that I get matched with an entire lobby of rank 16-20, killer included when I am rank 8?? Why is it when I'm killer, im matched only with red rank 5 and lower swf teams?? It's such krap and makes no damn sense. It needs to be a prioritized fix!! I'm just baffled hit validation was a higher priority than match making seeing as this happens to all players. The reverse is valid too. Why are ranks 15-20 being matched with purple and red ranks? It's so unfair to them. And why are these discrepancies so inconsistent

Yeah it's such a crapshoot that it makes playing the game really difficult. When matches are balanced it can be a lot of fun, but when you get potato teammates, or baby killers, or worse, it can make you want to shut the game off for good.

'Here's the thing though, telling someone to simply "grow a thicker skin" doesn't solve anything.'

It actually solves most problems. It let's ppl play the game for what it is without getting worked up.

Playing killer requires even a thicker skin due to all the hate messages u will be receiving.

It is my opinion that there should be a unranked match mode where they nerf the killer so bad, that survivors can learn and 'have fun. Aka 'easy mode.

Having a thicker skin helps the community and this forum, along with any other pvp games ppl might be playing.

Dbd is not a fun game. It is a frustrating and addictive game.

"Dbd is not a fun game. It is a frustrating and addictive game."

You're certainly not wrong about that! As I said you're not wrong, but I've learned that adopting a carefree attitude can only take you so far. It's hard to not care when the matchmaking is so unbalanced that you keep getting stomped over and over. I've turned off messages so I don't have to worry about toxicity other than what's displayed in the game, but the unbalanced nature of DBD is it's greatest downfall.

Better matchmaking and better ways to practice is not going to fix ur anxiety.

U just have play SO MUCH, so that u no longer get anxiety playing dbd.

I was like u when I started. I get worked up. Dying on first hook, tunnel, camp, toxic survivors screwing me over, stealing my item, doing all gens by myself just to die at the end while others leave me for dead, swf teams using me as a blockade so they can escape while sacrificing me as a shield.

U actually don't even have to play to get worked up. Just look at the entitled survivors on this forum who doesn't even know they are entitled. They get worked up pretty bad. Even the ppl who should remain impartial and bias'less become mad.

I know I have a lot of opinions but there's truth to my opinions, and ppl can't handle the truth.

U have to grow a thick skin which I been preaching about ever since I started to comment on the forums.

U can tunnel and camp me to death, I don't sweat. It is a bit frustrating when playing killer though. Top tier survivors are extremely OP, but nobody going to nerf them. I'm 99% survivor now. Ppl's hate messages don't bother me no more.

Here's the thing though, telling someone to simply "grow a thicker skin" doesn't solve anything. That being said, you're not wrong either. The entry bar for newer players is ridiculously high as the game doesn't teach you how to play. Because of that most of us have turned to streamers for not only a source of information, but for entertainment.

Now granted the only way to get better at any game is to actually play it, but most multiplayer games have building blocks in place to help teach you how to play, or at the very least a multiplayer mode that doesn't crank the difficulty to 11 when you hop in.

DBD has been out for over 4 years now, and BHVR desperately needs to implement something if they ever hope to to lure newer players, because in all honesty if my friends weren't playing this game I would have dropped it like a bad habit months ago.

  • @noctis129 said:

U can practice new killers on a Smurf account.

I watch my own replay videos to see why I lost. Good loops, where the hatch was, etc.

Ppl keep telling me to watch like noob3 and stuff. I did but meh... Those are for noobs.

Oh believe me I have and I do! But it still doesn't help the anxiety that comes with this game. The game needs better matchmaking and it needs a better way to practice, because spending an evening getting worked over can be better spent doing something else imo.

  • @wixxa said:

So i have a few accounts, different unlocks on each ect.

I like to hoard promo’s when they come and you know twice is nice. ;)

I play around Rank 3-7 frequently and believe i have a competent understanding of perks mechanics ect.

However when i take this knowledge to my alt account which resets from 10-15 and even lower the game is actually UNPLAYABLE SOLO.

It doesn’t matter how much of a competent survivor player you are or how much you can stall the killer out for chase NOTHING GETS DONE.

The camping claudette in the corner of the map is no understatement for level of play for these low ranks which I UNDERSTAND these are low ranks.

But hell how about a tutorial for these players?! A rank 20 killer will pick off a lobby of rank 20 - 15 survivors IN THERE SLEEP and as soon as you pass rank 10 people somehow understand a grasp of the game? WHERE IS THE BALANCE BHVR?!

WHAT ARE THESE NEW PLAYERS SHOWN AS THERE EARLY EXPERIENCES?

Like throwing a recruit in an army to the frontline with no weapon//supllies and literally no chance.

New player experience is horrendous imo and that’s my view as a tourist.

Anyone else's thoughts? curious to think more can be done here.

Like a tutorial ffs your mobile game even has one BHVR you have no excuse.

Yeah the biggest disadvantage about DBD is that the game doesn't teach you how to play. It doesn't even teach you the basics other than how to work a generator or hit a survivor. The game either needs a practice mode or a much more in-depth tutorial.

Newer players play like s***, but that's a failing on the game's part.

  • @DBD78 said:

Good news for survivors having an anti tunneling/camping bot killer to go against. You just choose difficulty first then team up with others who choosed the same mode. Then entity summons random killer and game is on.

Same for killers tired of t-bagging and clicking SWFs they just choose how good the team of bot survivors will be and then play without having to wait in lobby.

Then close chat and this game is forever without toxicity.

Being able to fire up a game against bots would certainly be a great way to cleanse the palate after a very toxic match!

  • @Boddy604 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/212071/so-bots-could-be-coming-after-all

They said in the q&a that they're remaking the tutorial to be more complex so that's probably all it is.

The tutorial for DBD was always weak, and stepping into this game now as a newer player can cause a lot of anxiety. The sheer amount of killers, survivors, and perks to be had can be overwhelming, and the matchmaking certainly doesn't help matters since you're most likely guaranteed to be teamed with or against someone far more experienced than yourself.

If there can be a more advanced tutorial that allows you to test out the core mechanics of the game, then that could certainly go a long way into helping a newer player. Because at the very least all games should teach players the basics.

I said this about the lol community and I'll say it here. If you want mmr prepare yourself for longer queue times. Mmr wise i would use a metric of 50% your rank 50% mmr so you dont have the catastrophe of 20s vs rank 1s that dogged the first mmr system.

From what I have seen queue times for survivour is long whilst killer is low so its likely that survivours in prolonged queues are thrown against any random killer to try and ease the queue times for high ranks. But i don't have a clue what the matchmaking code is like so its just a hypothesis.

I'd sooner apply an action speed debuff to swf that accumulates per each teammate before I would implement mmr since 90% of survivours I try to convince to play killer state swf is the main reason they don't want to play killer. It would also open the door to buff solo survivour. Both should not be balanced as if both are equal in power. But thats a different matter.

God knows no one wants longer queue times, but I would be willing to accept that if it meant more balanced matches.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

Most of my killer matches today were against purple/green and even grey/yellow ranks.

All of my recent survivor matches with friends have been against rank 15-20 killers (some friends don't play enough to keep rank). I think we even faced a brand new, first match huntress.

It seems like the +/- rank threshold system isn't functional.

This is precisely why the community has been asking for a training mode. With matchmaking in the state that it's in, newer players find themselves having to compete against experienced players which doesn't make for a good learning tool. There needs to be something that let's people test the mechanics of the game without having to worry about competing.

Yes it would be a huge health boost for the game. Potato teammate DCs don't worry a bot will take his place and ensure you can still win. Just got a new killer with no idea how to use his power and you're afraid of getting wrecked. Don't worry there's bots you can train with. And those two improvements can be huge for game health. Especially new players.

Being able to practice as the Killer would be really beneficial. Being expected to compete while you're practicing makes for a pretty lousy experience not just for yourself, but for the survivors as well.

I have bought several survivor outfits, both with shards and auric cells and no killer at all, because as it was already said, you can't see them ingame when you play as a killer, so I won't spend any currency on killer skins.

Same. I've purchased survivor skins because I can actually see it. With Killers you can't so it's like, what's the point?
