I can handle BMing SWF at this point. They think they've done something special. Let them think that. I can handle survivor sided maps. I do poorly on them because they are poorly designed. I can handle not getting the 4k because of hatch, because it's designed to let a survivor escape for free.

It's the little things that work against me throughout every game, that most people miss or can't recall, that really grind my gears and make me want to stop playing.

There seems to be some delay on the start-up of certain killer powers such as Pig's dash or Doctor's shock or Wraith's uncloak. Like, if you press it too fast after doing another action, the input won't go through. Whether it's intentional or not, I cannot say. But it just makes bad killers feel so much less fluid and so much more janky.

I get aim dressed and whiff all the time on hits that should have been mine. Some games I would have lost anyway, and some games I lost because of it, but who can really say for sure? With the old "new" survivor animations that were scrapped, 360ing and other movement exploits would have been much harder to do, so maybe people wouldn't be doing them as much, but immature anecdotes won over reason in that debate, and they were scrapped.

In order to not hit a survivor who's on the hook and instead hit their unhooker, you have to angle yourself or your attack in a very specific manner. Sometimes doing so makes you hit the hooked survivor anyway, or makes you miss your attack. Why is the survivor's hitbox on hook so huge?

I hate getting stuck on stuff. As killer and survivor, you have cut loops efficiently as possible without getting stuck, but as I've mentioned in a recent post, killers have it way worse. Notorious examples are shack and the harvesters, which have ridiculous unnecessary hitboxes sticking out way farther than they should. Then there's the Haddonfield hedges that you can't exploit and land on thankfully, but you also can't go over them like you'd think, because they have a hitbox that goes up into space.

The wiggle effect you feel as killer is quite ridiculous to me. This is something that makes me think the devs, and others who think it's a necessity, want to make the killer's job as hard and miserable as possible. The survivors being able to wiggle off after however many seconds, I get. But why am I swaying left and right so hard sometimes just because they're struggling? If you get caught on a doorway or something because of this, that could be a wiggle off for the survivor, and then you lost all that momentum.

When I'm standing under a pallet as killer but I'm pretty much all the way through it, why can a survivor still drop it on me? Because I swear to god I've had the drop pallet prompt taken away from me so many times as survivor when they were all the way through. So when I'm all the way through why are they still able to drop it, instead of getting blocked by me the killer? You can feel it happen to you when you get warped backwards from being stunned.

These are some of many inconsistencies and annoyances this game has to offer for killer. When combined with a poorly balanced game and a malicious community, these things end up pushing you over the edge, which causes you to quit the role or be toxic back, or something like that.

    Well said.

Personally, I don't mind losing. I'll admit that I get discouraged when it feels like there wasn't really anything I could have done to win, be it because I lost the game at the killer selection screen or because I was matched against people who are dozens of times more experienced than myself.

I don't even mind the occasional sore loser. I get it.

It's the people who won't just settle for winning - they have to stall things out for as long as possible to grief you, and then smack talk you in postgame. That gets under my skin after a while.

Games are becoming much more killer-sided.

    Is it?

At most you could say that a few exploits were removed and a handful of underperforming killers got some love (while others that weren't overperforming got nerfed, sigh).

Plus, things being worse before does not mean that things are good now.

I am an Overwatch player. No offense intended, but you DBD cats don't ball hard at all. The toxicity is so mild relatively speaking. An attempt was made, I suppose.

I've played Overwatch. DbD gets way nastier in it's own way.

The only communities I've run into that are this consistently nasty are the original DOTA map, CS:GO, UT2004 and pre-Tribunal LoL.

I love playing this killer, however, I'm aware that she isn't well liked. But is that universally true, any survivors who do like playing against her, or is it all hate?

What do you feel when you see an Artist?

I enjoy playing against her - but it feels like she gets wrecked a lot. I don't think I've seen an Artist get more than 2 kills when I play survivor, and I barely see her anymore.

I defly get many more toxic survivors in the endgame chat than toxic killers, but I have to always remind myself, that in each game there are 4 times the survivors than killers. And i feel like the sore loosers/winners are many times the people to write in the endgame chat, so I'm not sure if this statistic is valid at all.

To be fair, I never blame killers for playing a certain way... Maybe it's just me playing a lot of killer and understanding why they do stuff they do... (Still very upsetting, when they say nasty things in the chat.). I think it's okay to play however you want, as long as you act like an adult in the endgame chat... and you don't use flashlight macros... ffs

Otz was actually talking about this yesterday.

Killers, in general, behave better than survivors - because they are alone and thus it feels like they have more accountability.

Survivors feel like they have strength in numbers, and so they are more likely to get reinforcement.

I know it is scummy thing to do but if someone is being rude for no reason you can even report words like "kill" even if it is meant as something that happened in the game.

I doubt it'll do anything. The devs recently confirmed that anything short of actual death threats or strong slurs is not only acceptable, but they consider it an integral part of online gaming.

It's...an attitude that's probably going to bite them in the bum eventually.

When is that map going to be fixed? And now with boons? 1 boon covers half of the map because great map.

And the killer has to go way out of the way to kick it, this is not a 1-5 seconds, this is a almost 40 seconds boon, not to mention it is an extremely safe tile so there is no point as the killer trying to go break it.

This is partially an issue of CoH and other boons projecting through floors and the spot in the library being such a huge time commitment to snuff that it's not worth it. If (when) boons in general and CoH specifically gets nerfed, it'll be less of an issue.

RPD is just a horrid map. It sucks on survivor and it sucks on killer.

Without video evidence and reports over a long period of time you won't be banned. Going AFK once in a while isn't bannable. It's only when it's severe and repeated a lot that it becomes an offence.

    I hope so.

I had a nasty TTV group about a month back that basically took the game hostage, and in postgame they informed me that their goal was to force killers to DC, or to AFK so they could report them.

I'd have to dig it up, but I remember a Reddit thread a good while back with a screencap of someone (a GM? A dev? I forget) responding to a user inquiry about survivors playing hide and seek not being against the rules, but AFKing these games out being bannable.

  • @wewantbetterfun said:

It stops survivors from doing 2 gens for 1 chase and it also helps you to always remove progress on every hook you gets, these 2 perks should be in your everyday build to avoid genrush, it's too good and you shouldn't ignore those 2 perks if you do.

Corrupt is amazing on small maps. On larger ones, I find a lot of groups just hide, do totems and wait it out. I only really run it on Myers these days.

PR is, in my opinion, the most perfectly designed perk in the game. It's strong, but has an element of RNG to it. It forces killers to take risks and make decisions, while still having a ton of counterplay (note the scourged hooks and play around them).

So DBD's been acting a little strange lately and I'm curious if I'm the only one experiencing this.

So the thing is that when I'm playing DBD it performs really well and my fps is usually around 100-120 but after I've played a couple of games it progressively starts to perform worse. After 1-2 games my fps hangs on around 90-100, after approximately 3 games my fps starts to dip below 80, and finally, after 5 or so matches my game becomes nearly unplayable and constantly dips to 50-60 fps. Lowering the graphics settings does not help me gain extra fps when the game starts to lag. Restarting the game seems to get my fps back to normal but doing so after every single match can get a little annoying at times.

Is anyone having similar issues? And if so do you know how to fix this?

Since the Christmas patch, I've been having fps issues and have had to turn on the auto adjuster. No idea what causes it, but I suspect it's the new Nvidia drivers.

Fair enough I don't have the data and if it was glitching then validation needed to be changed.

I understand that you'd get a cool down for swinging and missing, but I wish the false hit feedback would be fixed its really misleading.

You have to admit also that DH appears, at least from a player perspective, to be over represented in survivor builds because of how strong hit validation has made it.

It was overrepresented before the 'fix'. Now it's omnipresent.

Personally it is the invulnerability that really seems to make me feel like this perk is far stronger than intended.

You thought I was standing still but it was me, Dead Hard! YEETS over pallet and moonwalks away

Especially when people use it to bypass traps or cause Nemmy's tentacle to miss them and fail to break pallets (Demo's shred has the exact same problem).

When one perk is so common that you basically have to play as if everyone had it at all times, that perk probably needs a tweak (prenerf DS and current CoH are also good examples). I can't think of a single other killer perk that has ever been as common as DH is.

  • @Veinslay said:

If they're a bully squad, macro clickers or they're just god loopers that eat and breathe DbD, I just go AFK and stare at the wall until they GTFO. You can try that

    Hmm.

    • Fang is still decent, but it has a big trade-off.
    • Nurse's bookmark is nutso.
    • Honestly, I find Demo's soda to be a bit stronger. People also sleep on the Lighter, which can be used to keep an entire team Blind.
    • Plague's seal is decent, especially against teams that refuse to cleanse.
    • Hag's shackles are nice, but they have a huge trade off in that you can't use traps to shunt people's camera around.
    • Finger is very strong.
    • Pig...now I really like Video+Ruleset 2 if I'm feeling mean. People will auto DC within the first 30 seconds of the game so I generally don't use it though.

Hey guys, I'm a killer main and currently experiencing a pretty sad period as a killer in dbd.

It feels like most (or the loudest) of the survivors I've played against lost touch with reality. They complain about everything and anything in the endgame chat. Even if they bring a Haddonfield offering and 4 brand new parts they still have the audacity to complain (happened yesterday)

I'm looking for some general tips on how to deal with this. Mind you, I'm a pretty sensitive person in general. There are some lovely survivors, especially amongst the very experienced ones, who are always respectful, but many are just... terrible people... shouting out slurs with typos so that the filter doesn't catch it. It makes me incredibly sad that people are like that.

I also have ingame troubles... The occasional Tbagging and clicking is usually not that bad, BUT the flashlight macro clicker makes the game literally unplayable. and it doesn't matter if I'm the killer, or a survivor... it's incredibly annoying. I can't DC, cause I'll get a penatly. So do I just tunnel that person? Or better afk and watch a vid in the background until they escape?

I'm looking for any tricks you are using to deal with this. Thanks

A lot of the time I just shrug it off. I can understand sore losers.

It's the gloaters and the 'gg ez baby killer get cancer' types that get under my skin after a while.

I get hate simply for playing Twins lmao. I used to main Claudette. I also enjoy playing as Meg. It's a little silly that people do immediately assume things based on who you're playing to the point that it affects the game.

The nature of the human psychology is to notice patterns and form categories based on these patterns. It's probably evolutionary.

And yes, I get people who DC the second they see me playing Myers, Doctor or Pig.

  • @jamally093 said:

I get hit over windows and pallets constantly and the device do jack about that hit validation but no let's had hit validation to dead hard a perk designed as a invincible perk for a few seconds why make have hit validation because all it does it give killers a middle finger and matchmaking is still bs.

Because people complained that it sometimes seemed to arbitrarily fail (the 'exhausted on ground' issue).

    However...

Dead Hard felt like it was balanced around these quirks, and was still the most common survivor perk by a mile. Now it's just horribly overpowered and if the new validation issues (fake hits and eating certain killer powers) can't be fixed, the perk will need to get nerfed pretty hard to account for these.

Honestly, remove the iframes at the start and end of the animation. Let it be a dodge, not a third health state.

  • @Adamant_Tepig said:

So it's come to my attention a lot of problems we have with the game boil down to the maps.

What maps would you like to see be fixed if you could only pick one to fix?

Eyrie - the density of strong gyms is too high and the hooks on the rear area of the map are too sparse. A single sabo can create a complete deadzone. There is an 'unpickup-able' spot in the main structure.

Asylum - There is an 'unpickup-able' spot in the main structure involving the lockers. Remove dual locker spawns.

Haddonfield - too much to even really go into.

RPD - miserable for both killer and survivor. Split it into two or increase hook density for starters.

Swamp maps - remove logs from the sides of the map, increase hook density. Remove the 'pog log' spawn from in front of the main structure, as this causes a pseudo infinite.

Badham - increase hook density, remove some windows from certain structures.

DDS - remove dual locker spawns, add some gyms to the edges of the map.

Midwich - increase hook density (although apparently this is a bug right now).

The Game - remove some of the clutter from around some of the pallets, to make them a little bit less safe.

Cowshed - remove one of the cow trees.

Mother's Dwelling - remove the gen from the roof.

  • @jamally093 said:

So when I mean weird requirement I mean how it works with abilities like it removes stacks with Deathslinger because he uses his gun but on Blight it doesn't take away his stack even though he is using his weapon. Like Huntress yeah it wouldn't work she uses hatchets but Demo uses his arms and if I remember it doesn't remove stacks.

It's a bit like PWYF - it comes from a very different era and has some odd interactions with newer killers.

That said, I really like it. It's balanced, it requires a bit of decision making and it definitely has counterplay.

  • @Laluzi said:

Tombstone Piece for sure. Nothing else lets you straight up remove a survivor at ~4 gens remaining.

Judith's is balanced, even if it's not the most fun thing in the world to play against, but Piece is just busted. There's a lot of very strong addons out there - MDR, Alchemist's, Mint Rag - but I don't think any can hold a candle to that one.

Mint Rag...honestly I'd say is about right for an iri.

It's powerful and opens up a different playstyle, but it does have an opportunity cost and requires a bit of skill and foresight to use effectively.

  • A bully squad that is also trying to win is still a bully squad. The difference is in the intent.

  • @TruffleTurtle said:

Idk if it's because I'm bad or what but people I used to enjoy(legion, wraith, pig) it just feel awful to play them. I chase somebody then realize I'm wasting too much time so I go after somebody else then by the time I down somebody 2-3 gens are done. It's just really discouraging. Only time I feel like I do good is if I play pinhead or clown

    Yup.

A lot of people complain that all the new killers are anti-loop.

Then you go and play Pig, Myers or Trapper and realize that even intermediate survivors are sophisticated enough to run you around a good loop for 45 seconds without dropping the pallet.

It's an annoying little arms race that can't end until a lot of maps are reworked - but with how loop dense the most recent map is, it seems that BHVR are basically just leaning into it.

    @Chordyceps said:

It really is kinda rough right now tbh. Playing killers without anti-loop abilities isn't super fun because some maps are whack and you cant do anything about some tiles. But then killers with anti-loop abilities like Trapper, Hag, Executioner and Artists are kinda boring, cause when you use your power at a loop its just "ok, lets go to a different loop and repeat this process". Although I think as a result of this, killers with ranged abilities have become a lot more fun to play.

I'd really hesitate to call Trapper 'anti loop'. His traps are so telegraphed that by the time you've set one up, the survivor is teabagging you from shack.

if its a team thats actually trying to do the gens and win, i wouldnt call it a bully squad id just call it a sweat squad. sweat squads are near impossible to beat yea

Ah, nomenclature. These aren't terms with a set definition I guess.

    I'd say:

'Sweat squad' - runs full meta perks and fancy addons. Is trying to win as fast and as efficiently as possible. Frustrating to face, but not abusive.

'Bully squad' - the 'bully' implies some sort of sadism. Their goal isn't just to win, it's to make the killer miserable.

  • @Shenlong1904 said:

I was just playing survivor with my friends. 4 man SWF, but were mostly just messing around.

The others had one meta perk each, to not be broken.

I had none, because meta is boring.

We were 4k'ed and BM'ed almost every match.

Once i was tunneled and even with my whole team trying to help, I was the first three hooks...

So we decided to try hard a lil bit. 4 meta perks on everyone, 2 toolboxes and 2 medkits. Even a haddonfield offering.

We escaped with a single hook...

It was a clown with one add-on and level 1 POP.

I guess what I'm trying to say is sorry.

Eh. If you played hard but weren't abusive, don't be sorry.

  • @NoOneKnowsNova said:

Toxic killers tend to be Pig and Ghostface from my experience. A lot of tbagging, tunneling and hitting on hook.

Demo on the other hand is by far the least toxic killer. They're always fun to face and they tend to be nice.

Toxic survivors are almost always Neas or Claudettes, with Ace getting an honourable mention.

I tend to see both Jeff's and Leon's being really nice. Jane's, while not always directly nice, they usually meme around rather than tryhard which earns them a mention.

Leons tend to be adorable derpy puppies who'll teabag me, walk backwards into a trap and DC.

They can be toxic, but usually they are also pretty new which makes it funny.

  • @odra said:

I think I'm gonna leave DBD for now, right now when I play 1 in 2 games there's wallhack, at least when I'm survivor it's easy to tell because no tracking perk on killer but straight to player like they own BBQ, meanwhile as killer it's hard to tell if the survivor just using wallhack or not but playing as killer been bad lately, might as well called it quit, when I check their steam profile most of them got another game ban

Eh. Wallhacks are really difficult to prove.

I get accused of it a fair amount, but it's usually just deduction (I saw you at x earlier, so chances are you'll be at y or z after I hook) or straight up luck.

I used to play very info heavy, so I try to make up for my inability to mindgame by keeping track of roughly where players should be.

  • Oh man do I disagree with this.

A good bully squad goes into a map with a plan that, if you aren't playing specific killers, is almost impossible to beat. A bully squad isn't just trying to win - they're usually trying to get to a position where they can 99 the last gen and then stall the game out for half an hour.

    • They'll abuse spots on Asylum and Eyrie where you can't pick them up.
    • They'll abuse spots on maps where a single sabo makes an entire region unhookable, and will keep that hook sabo'd for the entire game.
    • They'll abuse dual lockers and dual flashlights to stall the game out forever.
    • They'll bring 4x BNP and 2x PTS and you'll lose 2-3 gens before you know what happened.
    • If all else fails, they'll lag switch or hack.

    @Marc_go_solo said:

You can enjoy matches and get kills, especially against the (actually, pretty rare) bully squads, so long as you're willing to role with the punches. I had this match very recently against a team (I know so because of the co-ordination of the Head-ons, Flash Bangs and how they played in general to save their friends). Unfortunately, they didn't have a good day - they had a lower-than-adequate day:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/FRZQNCK468FR/abf04271-eb89-4859-825b-44a92d5aab76.png

As you can see, it was a randomized build I had, and it still overcame a 4-man swf. Sure, maybe they're not apex assassins, but they were well co-ordinated and had some nifty moves.

But my point is that the meta, whilst obviously called that for a reason, is absolutely not required to do well and I actually hear exactly what OP is saying, and this hopefully is a bit of evidence to prove you can enjoy and play the game how you want and still succeed. It would be great if people were to see it that way.

I hate to tell you this, but that wasn't a bully squad. That was 4 people trying to meme with HO.

A bully squad would be 2 flashlights and 2 sabo boxes, DH and stuff.

Myers? I wouldn't say he's the worst by any means. Not when Trapper and Legion exist (I'd argue that Wraith and non camping Bubba's are also really awful right now).

MDR isn't too bad in isolation, it's the combo with the blossom that makes it rather strong.

Alch Ring is definitely getting nerfed in the midpatch. It's just the subject of too many complaints.

The posts I was referring to were removed it seems. Someone was making comments about how playing a killer means you are a bad person IRL.

the problem with high mmr, the non variety that hihg mmr gives gets extremely boring... even if we actually beat them most times, i think was 6 out of 7 times (last one managed to get 5 gens but we werent full there was a solo q who was bad AF as most solos and made us lose the game), non variety leads to unfun and unfun leads to playing less and that needs adressing, there is a roster of 23 killers (i think) and if 7 times in a row we get the same killer there is a problem with the game...

Honestly, I'm not seeing many Nurses anymore. 30% of my games are against Blight, 15% against Huntress or Nemesis, 10% against Bubba and the rest are a mix of Myers, Doctor, Trickster, Artist (although none in a long while) and the very occasional Pig or Wraith.

    Hey there!

I'd like to address and form a discussion regarding Cenobite and two perks - Hoarder and Franklin's Demise

Hoarder is a very underrated perk and can lead to better map pressure and punishing people for not doing primary objective - generators, while Franklin's Demise can punish people for searching chests (Hoarder gives two additional chests) and usage of items.

These two perks combined lead to very powerful combination, regardless of which killer you play and is really annoying to go against, but what can be more annoying than having a killer, whose power can be amplified by using these two perks?

Imagine that you're a peaceful Claudette, enjoying your game of Dead by Daylight, and you queue up against a Cenobite with this combination and addons - Larry's Remains and Liquified Gore (you can substitute this with something much more powerful, such as Engineer's Fang). What does this mean? Picking up a box will lead to one thing - you will go through a remarkably hard serie of extreme scenarios. First of all, when you pick up the box, you are Oblivious which means you cannot hear the killer's TR. Second of all, he can see that you picked up the box and go on you even before you start searching it. Third of all, if you go to chase or he interrupts you with chains, you will drop the box via usage of Franklin's Demise. Lastly, you will be slowdowned by his two addons.

While you may say "Well, with the recent patch on Cenobite, he deserves some powerful combination". While yes, that's true, but this is something very unfun and unhealthy for this game and should be addressed.

How can BHVR fix this? - Very easily, making Hoarder to not work on the box. This would basically fix this madness and craziness. I played in very high MMR with these combinations and I must really tell you, it has not been hard to beat even a coordinated SWF. In chat, even phrase such as "They should fix this killer" appeared and I for sure agree, that this combination should be looked at. While this combination of perks and addons is rare, it's for sure not something pleasurable to go against.

Thanks for reading, I will be glad if you submit your ideas or opinions! I eagerly look forward to some of your responses!

If I'm not mistaken, Franklin's was changed so that if you get the box from it, it respawns almost instantly (as opposed to 30 seconds on a proper down-pick up) meaning that it really doesn't give that much pressure if you do it this way.

This combination really isn't as good as you think it is - Franky+Hoarder is a meme build now. You're miles better off with STBFL, LP, BBQ, Agitation, Starstruck, Ruin, Devour, ToTT, Plaything, Penti, PR, Surge, Fearmonger, Tinkerer or a wide number of other killer perks.

If you are really having trouble with it, your best bet is to immediately check the area where the box spawns, isolate the closest safety and be ready to run. If you drop the box, don't sweat it - between the hunt starting and it respawning almost immediately, it'll get solved fast.

I don’t think you’ve read my whole post. These two perks combined are evil on Pinhead. Pinhead is also not a bad killer, he is certainly very strong.

No, he isn't. I keep seeing people say 'well Otz 4ks on him constantly'. Otz just 4k'd on a Slinger while never using his gun.

Pinhead isn't the worst killer by a long shot, but he's still very mediocre.

    @Tr1nity said:

Ok I guess he needs to use Ruin + Undying

This. Honestly, funny gimmick builds are something to encourage, not nerf.

Franklins and Hoarder are both overrated. Franklin's more so than Hoarder.

Hoarder is decent but very map dependent.

Hoarder doesn't really work unless you're on DDS or something. A lot of the time, survivors just straight up ignore chests as is because they've brought a fancy medkit or toolbox in anyway.

Franklins is a niche perk I'll run on Hag when I get a lobby full of medkits or Wraith when there are multiple flashlights.

I'm not here to ask for a perk's relevancy. I asked for clarification on how a single screenshot that provides no context whatsoever can bring any meaningful conversation to the table.

    I repeat:

and the worst part is, the OP deliberately cut out the most crucial part which could've provided some context on whether they escaped or not.

I don't get what this screenshot is supposed to point out.

Yes, I'd be curious about that too.

What I was saying is that the impression I got from that loadout was that this was a specialized bully/stall comp.

  • @Mileena_Kahn said:

After waiting what seems like an eternity to find a lobby as survivor I get hit with errors and what not and it kicks me back to the main menu. Anyone else having problems?

My survivor queues range from 2-3 mins (peak) to almost 20 minutes (mornings). I'm guessing I'm at a somewhat average MMR, possibly creeping up to 'intermediate'.

My killer queues, at what I estimate as an intermediate-high intermediate MMR never exceed 2 minutes and can be basically instant.

What's really odd is that my survivor queues dipped for a while, but are back up now. My killer queues get shorter and shorter. I wonder if something was tweaked on the SBMM side of things.

Midchapter is soon friend, that will be the answer to stay or leave

If BHVR nerf Artist, Penti or PR - that's probably me done. PR in particular is an absolutely perfect perk - it's strong, it's satisfying to use, it requires risk and decision making and has counterplay.

These things being nerfed would mean that the vision of the games that the devs have is so different to mine that I'd be better off elsewhere.

But that's my point. Ranks aren't a good source of medium since they reset every 13th of the month. Checking their played hours would be better since that accumulates regardless of any scheduled resets.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2721244#Comment_2721244

I mean, unless this was a 4 man SWF, I understand some of their perk choices (like picking borrowed time), but seeing Sabo is quite rare and same goes for breakout. I hate Dead Hard so I don't blame the killer for that, but they literally had no good items or any effective offerings.

and the worst part is, the OP deliberately cut out the most crucial part which could've provided some context on whether they escaped or not.

I don't get what this screenshot is supposed to point out.

I'm seeing a lot of sabo recently. A few big names did videos where they demonstrated certain spots on some maps (Eyrie tends to be the most common, but you can do it on Midwich, Badham, Haddonfield and Pantry with certain hook spawns) where a single sabo can turn an entire area into a completely unhookable deadzone permanently.

It's crazy broken when abused and when paired with other perks (Breakout, Exponential etc) can be used to basically take a match hostage and meme on the killer until they go AFK or DC. Breakout makes me think this is the likely idea.

Tinkering with new builds would be even better if perks were closer to each other because messing around round with off meta stuff wouldn't be such a down grade to the meta.

This is completely wrong you don't try to trying everything up to meta because you just end up with a bunch of broken stuff that is now impossible to balance you want to bring the meta down making it more reasonable to run weaker stuff.

    Mm.

The issue is that killers have a few 'necessary' perks (BBQ for BP, gen regression and probably something for endgame) and the rest are either incredibly niche, gimmicky or just bad.

Survivors have something of the opposite problem. About 6 perks that are so overwhelmingly strong that not running them is basically not playing the game right.

    Fingers crossed for the midpatch.

  • @GuyFawx said:

Like perhaps they can morph into any other killer for a certain amount of time or into a survivor after studying them to blend into the other survivors. Of course I realize with a swf it would completely ruin the concept since they would all most likely be in communication with one another. I have no idea how you could make it work but i was watching my brother play as Tsang Sung for Mortal Kombat and i thought it could be a fun concept if it was done right. I just dont know how it could be done proper

Like those things from Prey? It's an idea, but it would probably come out very weak and gimmicky. Typically survivors just run away unless it's a really great loop.

Yeah that's the final franchise I'm waiting for (and Candyman I guess, but the recent film somehow made me like the franchise less). I've already gotten Hellraiser and now I'm getting Ringu.

so circle of healing is a thing. really not fond of losing all my pressure if i get in a chase for longer then 5 or so seconds even ran into a bug where the circle of healing totem was invisible.

is this revenge for the Undying into 4 Ruins meta we now have to deal with an AOE medkit that the killer can only delay at best? why cant killer restore hex's? why cant killer break totems?

guess im stuck with exposing perks from now on, assuming i play at all.

CoH is widely agreed to be a problem right now, and will definitely get a nerf - whether that's in the midpatch or two years from now is anyone's guess though.

For the time being - don't play attrition killers like Wraith unless you specifically build around countering the healing meta.

I haven't used Ruin for ages, and have moved away from hexes that aren't Plaything almost entirely. Pop, PR and even Penti feel a lot more consistent.

That said - if you aren't having fun, give the game a break and come back when you see patchnotes that interest you.

I really haven't played over the last 3 weeks ill jump on and play a game or two and be over it already. Alot of the time I'll load up and get to the home screen and just not want to even play.

    Yeah, I feel you.

Yesterday I had a team that continually kept a specific hook on Eyrie sabo'd and decided to stall the game out forever with a well played boon and also abusing a spot in the main building that's super easy to reach and you can't pick up from there. That evening I had a duo that stalled the game out for 10 minutes on...I think it was Temple by both sitting in lockers with flashlights next to each other.

The latter told me to 'get cancer' in the postgame.

    Decided to take a break.

Honestly? Just the entire cast of female survivors. I don't know why the goblins gravitate toward the girls (probably the better cosmetics), but if someone's gonna butt dance, it's 80% them.

And I don't even know why specifically Doctors-- I just have terrible luck with them. Them and Hags, but that's a whole other can of worms.

Hag is one of my 'nice' killers. Doctor...it really depends on my mood and what survivors are doing. He can be tooth-grindingly annoying when your shocks consistently fail to work thanks to validation.

I find Meg, Jill, Laurie, Elodie and a few other female avatars pretty decent.

Janes tend to be AFK a lot. Nancy tends to DC. Claudettes can be pretty toxic.

@StarLost That sound's amazing, I hope you enjoy DND and Have a lovely time with your missus, Well done on quitting smoking that is a real achievement.

@DyingWish92 I 100% agree with you, It is like a bully simulator and I think that may be the reason if I am honest with you :(

@Hippie That is really good advice thank you!

Haha, went from a pack a day to vape only because I succeeded in exploding a gaming PC thanks to tar/dust buildup inside the workings. Still enjoy the vape, but haven't had a smoko in 5 years, aside from the occasional cigar.

  • @Voodoo_Thirsty said:

Ranks don't really matter any more... you know that right?

I've seen some pretty headless rank 1 survivors running around and real pro silver 3s carrying the game.

Just because a red emblem with a stick in the middle is there doesn't mean that they're good. Don't be intimidated.

They don't, but they do demonstrate a certain familiarity with the game, especially a whole team of Iri 1.

Looking at it in context, with the perks, this was the sort of ridiculous matchup you'd see under ranks.

Most toxic killers: Bubba, Trickster, Nemesis, and Doctor

Least toxic killers: Ghostface, Pig, and Artist

Most toxic survivors: Nea, Meg, Dwight and David

Least toxic survivors: Jeff and Bill

Bills are a wildcard. They can be totally new or crazy monsters, really chill or utterly horrible. My missus and I have a bit of an in-joke regarding 'Russian Bills' - who tend to be the most poisonous players I've met in this game.

  • @Grandpa_Crack_Pipe said:

I have literally never met a nice Doctor.

I have, however, met many good lad Onis.

Aside from the obvious, Ash, Jeff and Tapp are always welcome sights for me.

And the majority of the goblin population is made up of Neas, Fengs and Nancies.

Ash...I don't know what it is, but when I see them they either tend to be sulkers who'll literally try to play hide and seek for an hour because you got an early kill, hackers or DC the second they see me.

    Neas, yeah. Fengs...sometimes.

I'm usually a nice Doctor, as long as nobody tests me.

Killer was pretty chill in post game chat, just hit level 50, still hasn't unlocked more than 3 pages of perks yet.

I think what probably happened was that a low MMR killer had a long queue, a group of high level survivors had a long queue and SBMM pooped the sheets.

  • @Hippie said:

If we're talking about real toxicity (essentially holding the game hostage, flaming in endgame chat or sabotaging teammates), I would say Tricksters have been the worst so far, with Pigs being a close second. I can't even tell you the amount of times I've bled out from full bar on the ground with Trickster players.

The most normal Killers would probably be Cenobites and Ghostface(s) for me.

And for unsavory Survivors, Neas are definitely the worst, hands down. The bald Dwights can be a pain as well (when they're on my team).

The nicest Survivors have been Bills, Mikaelas and Jeffs! I especially like the Bills.

Pigs are so weird. I think it's the addons - which tend to oscillate between 'this is terrible', 'this is a nice QOL that should be basekit' and 'this is incredibly mean and frustrating to play against'. That, and having people still trying to enforce the daft 'boop' meme and getting salty when you don't play along.

Yeah I know, I was running a pretty generic build with DH, BT, DS, and unbreakable.

Before anyone chimes in - yes, grades are not reflective of matchmaking, but 4 Iri 1 survivors versus a Silver 2 killer does suggest that something is a bit squiffy.

I'm not sure whether this killer is new or prestiged, but not having all your perks against that squad...oof. Yeah, it's discouraging.

Hopefully the midpatch tweaks some things. The last one was really great.

  • @thefallenloser said:

I’ve always had the idea that nerfing/changing many of the perks to be less impactful on the outcome of the game would address DBD’s longstanding balancing issues.

In a world where for instance, Pop only regressed generators by an additional 10% while Sprint Burst made survivors run at 110% speed, we could really strip away the layers of fat the perks take up from the balance and more closely examine and find solutions for the flaws in the core game mechanics.

However, this would also make perks and playstyles feel a lot less unique, and make the perks more akin to something generic like a Call of Duty mod.

i dunno just some wacky idea i had

    Eh.

Honestly, this would make killer a lot more tedious for me to play. A big reason I enjoy the role is the power/changeups to my playstyle that perks provide.

Survivor? Aside from a few standouts like CoH and DH, the issue isn't so much the power of the perks, it's that so many have almost zero interactions or decision making to them. It's one of the things that makes the role feel tedious to me very quickly.

  • @Mystix said:

I am not having fun on this game anymore, Ever Since MMR has come in its not fun BHVR have gone to far with the survivior side and expect to much from killer, I am sick of toxic survivors ruining the game and the whole matchmaking system, Boons everything maybe when thing's changed I will be back until then nope.

Taking a short break myself to enjoy the holidays with the missus, work on my DnD campaign and do a replay of Neverwinter Nights.

You'll be back, as will I. It's only a matter of time. I've had more luck quitting smoking than I have quitting this game.

  • @Lunar_Wing said:

In my opinion, its just more fun/relaxing to play survivor. There is nothing better than the feeling of getting a 4 k as killer but is far easier and inciting to play as survivor. SWF just makes killer games far too stressful to play during a time when everyone is playing SWF.

For the longest time I always thought the killer should get some kind of bonus/information when playing against a SWF. Even if this bonus only applies to the SWF survivors. But hell I doubt they would ever do something like that.

SWFs don't usually bother me unless they are straight up bully squads looking to make your game miserable, either via macros, deliberately annoying builds/offerings or stalling the game out for ages.

It's more the general nastiness of so many survivors that gets under my skin after a while and results in me taking a break.
