DMS is bad on a lot of killers, semi-decent on some, good on Freddy, and is easily the best perk in the game for Artist, allowing her to camp the hook while also protecting generators for 45 seconds at a time.

I've been using it on Artist and I think it's basically okay. The issue is more the camping side of things, which BHVR are already going to fix afaik.

  • @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

People tested them on PTB and both perks had issues. And now, both perks came to live without changes.

    Why?

Do BHVR have any tester? Are your testers trying this perks before PTB? Or are you listening your community, who are trying changes on PTB? People saw issues and how BHVR ignored everything?

What's wrong with DMS? I've been testing it and it's bad on most killers, and sort of decent on a handful.

Boil Over...yeah. That is a miserable perk to go against now.

I would like to clarify something with the kill switch. This is to be used in those cases where a bug is considered game breaking enough to affect normal gameplay (we can all remember the Breakdown issue and of course CoH causing the game to crash when it was initially put into the game, those are two examples of when we would use the killswitch).

What you are describing as issues with a killer is partly by design - the chains do spawn, but there is plenty of time to do them as the bug was fixed where the chains would just keep spawning constantly.

A lot of this is learning to play against the killer, and whilst I appreciate it is much harder to coordinate as a solo survivor, it can be done. When I play solo, I tend to be the one that goes for the box etc and take charge of the team - pointing to gens etc. There is limited communication with solo survivors but you definitely can communicate these things to a small degree.

The issue of keybinding with consoles, that is a separate issue and one which I will check on.

Mm. It's been the case for a while that the chain prompt is also the prompt for vaulting pallets.

I get the feeling that you keep dodging my point that my opinion is a shared view among Koreans and you're trying pass it off as my own psychological problem or something. No offense, but trying to teach me "Korean culture isn't like that, Korean people aren't like that" isn't going to work when I obviously have a better understanding about Korean culture and better access to communicating with other Koreans.

So, your reason for claiming 'Koreans are fine with it' is about 40 comments. Fine. I searched 지운(Jiwoon) on of the game-discussing boards I visit, and the result shows roughly 300 posts complaining about the new cosmetic. On Twitter, there are several tweets expressing shock over the design with retweets over 1k and up to 6k. Since you have such good connections to Korean people, I suggest you ask one of them to search 학지운(Hak Jiwoon) or 학지운 신스킨(Hak Jiwoon new cosmetic) on Twitter and ask them to translate the results for you, because every single one of them is complaining about the outfit. I think this clearly shows what most Korean people actually think, even if it unfortunately doesn't match your own personal interpretation of Korean people.

I'm sorry, but the "You're being petty, Koreans aren't like that" argument isn't going to convince me unless you make me unsee all those hundreds and thousands of other Koreans' opinions.

Ah, I think I see the issue.

You are saying 'Koreans find this offensive' but what you actually mean is 'Twitter finds this offensive'.

Twitter is not a good indicator of anything. Twitter can find anything offensive. Twitter literally found sugar-free yoghurt offensive, by your metrics.

This mess of a perk in this current state should be an exhaustion perk with a cooldown of like 100-120 seconds. It would definitely root out the majority of toxic buttwipes abusing this perk. They should have thought about this after the PTB feedbacks, but noooooo... It just baffles my mind how disconnected the BHVR people are from this game... They make a decent freaking update last time, that receives positive feedback, and now they slap you in the face with this mid-chapter disgrace.

The really annoying thing is that there is a lot about the mid chapter that I like.

    The new audio is stellar.

Dead Man's Switch is almost viable on the right killer/build.

Amanda's Letter isn't complete garbage anymore.

But...man. Boil Over is, on it's own, making me like this game less every time I see it. At best, it's annoying as hell. At worst, it allows a team to completely take a match hostage.

  • @Pulsar said:

    I sure did!

Here's what I said: "Yeah, this update really isn't enticing me to come back."

Now, here's where context matters. What was the original post titled? Oh yeah, "I EXPECT ANOTHER DROP IN THE KILLER POPULATION."

I wouldn't be surprised if the new Boil Over is heavily contributing to the killer shortage right now. I know that my matchmaking has been complete kafka since yesterday, and for the first time in a long while it's everything I hated about ranks. A hardcore TTVer and his chums that finish all the gens in about 3 minutes - with me on Hag no less (my absolute strongest killer) using my best build and addons, and the next time I play Hag I kill everyone at 4 gens remaining.

Ugh. Honestly, Boil Over needs to be turned off until it can be adjusted. It's the worst sort of perk - not very powerful, but annoying and opens the door to all sorts of shenanigans.

I do like Penti as well.

I used to run it on Artist and Legion.

Survivors did not like the Thana 20% slowdown plus 30% for Penti and PGTW.

Yow! That would be a blast on Legion.

Artist - I'm getting pretty consistent with sniping now (my best moment of today was hitting a pair with a Hands bird, then getting both of them downed on the next volley) but I don't find that I can keep multiple people injured the way Legion can.

I mostly play her as a hard chasedown killer. I'm also finding that STBFL is really, really good on her - which is a bit counterintuitive.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2774430#Comment_2774430

    Run Lethal Pursuer.

Early game pressure is key for Pinhead and Lethal lets you find the Box reliably. It can't spawn within 40 meters of Pinhead or within 16 meters of Survivors.

Yes, I used to do that (following Otz's little guide) but I've actually moved away from it.

The early hunt is very nice, but I find it to be a touch inconsistent. Too often I'll get spawned in the middle of RPD or Haddonfield and have survivors on both sides. One of my quirks is that I value consistency over peak power.

Right now, I'm running a pretty idiosyncratic set of builds. Having some success with all 4.

Pain Resonance+Agitation+Plaything+Pentimento is excellent. I find it starts applying massive pressure as soon as I get a hook and it works like a charm. Penti is growing on me.

I also like full hexes on him (ToTH, Ruin, Undying, Devour Hope/Penti/HG/Retribution).

LP+Pop+Devour+BF/Undying is solid, consistent and what I was running for quite a while.

However, the one that I'm running now and doing gorgeously on is my Doctor build, PR+Agi+Starstruck+DMS.

PR+Agi is just never not good, Starstruck and hunts force people to leave gens and DMS shuts them down. This is probably what I'll be running for the foreseeable future. It's a wrecking ball.

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

They clearly loosened mmr quite a bit. It feels closer to the old game now. Kind of a shame. I will miss the tears.

I think that there's just so many survivors playing right now compared to killers that the entire system is backed up, and the chances of lobby dodges gets really high - leading to a totally busted situation. Either that or the SBMM system is under maintenance or something.

It's been bad since the event started.

    Sure, go ahead.

  • @Tostapane said:

title. i did a experiment quite simple: i seached a match and leave the lobby shortly after i joined in a lobby with 3 killers,1 that i use quite frequently (pinhead), 1 that i use sometimes (hillbilly) and the last one that i NEVER use (spirit). the game kept giving me the SAME 4 survivors all the time... i did this expeiment more than once and the results were identical...

That does sound very odd. I wonder if it's a region issue.

I've been playing like a mad bastard over the last few days, and while SBMM is so borked right now that it needs a collar and a little bowl, probably due to the glut of survivors playing right now and a lack of killers plus oodles of lobby dodges - I'm definitely seeing different people.

I hope the announced changes go live soon. Hopefully they help the situation, because this is the first time that it's consistently feeling like Ranks did, and that's not a good thing.

Hell, I'm actually having fun playing Cenobite again - simply due to how frigging incredible the new voicing is.

  • @AlexisFox said:

Since when a killer joins a lobby they can't change what killer they are playing it would be nice if the matchmaking would have an option to exclude people playing a killer you just faced in your previous match to help ensure some variety. Some may not see a point in this but there are some killers that trigger various phobias that people have like kinemortophobia or coulrophobia for example and while having to face that killer once in a while is something they may be able to do facing them two, three, or more times in a row due to the RNG of matchmaking can be unduly stressful.

At higher MMRs, this would mean you either waiting days or facing less skilled killers. 90% of higher MMR killers are either Blight or Huntress, with the odd Nurse, Nemesis and Cannibal.

I don't understand why this killer is so OP and nobody says anything. The turns he makes are absurd, practically impossible to escape. And why doesn't his power have a cooldown? Honestly facing any player with the least skill with this killer is very frustrating. A killer with high mobility and easy damage. Amazing how this game is so unbalanced.

He isn't. His kill rates are pretty healthy. He has maybe one addon that needs a tweak, but there are bigger priorities right now.

  • @Pulsar said:

Just tested it out on RPD.

Holy #########. You can actually take the game hostage for as long as you want. I have no idea how it got through the PTB.

I know that the Mods said they are continuing to monitor the situation, but it actually needs to be killswitched until they fix it.

It's not even like the perk is objectively good. It's only going to be used by bully squads and people wanting to take others hostage. Reminds me of the Sabo meta or the Dribble meta. I understand we all have varying views on how the game should be balanced, but I hope we can all agree that this perk is a huge issue in design and a glaring issue with the PTB process.

    Yerp.

I've run into 4 squads doing this since the change went live. The only one I was able to clinch a win was where I literally dropped two slugs in the upper office of IWOM and blocked them in.

You keep accusing me of being overly sensitive. If you'd like the truth- I was actually satisfied enough with the past two cosmetics whereas other Koreans were already pretty offended about them, so you could say I'm less prone to taking offense than most Koreans. I repeat it's not just me who's dissatisfied about the newest cosmetic, it's the general consensus over here. Unless you're about to claim most Koreans are out of their way to get offended.

I am, because - from my perspective, you definitely are.

But I humored you and posted this on our Korean ESL board. Nearly 40 responses thus far, people's reaction was usually 'who is this? No, it looks fine, why would that be offensive?'. EDIT: Okay, that was funny, one person thought it was a pretty infamous Japanese singer, Gackt. Google him and...yeah.

And no - that has not been my experience with either Koreans or Japanese folks. They tend to be a lot less easily offended than western audiences are (and often have cultural norms that many westerners would find offensive) aside from a small minority generally centered around heavily westernized campuses. This modern concept of offense-mining and wokescolding is entirely a western invention.

Which is why I was surprised here, as this seems very petty.

You're trying to teach a native Korean about Korean culture? Seriously? Well, I don't know what performers you've been looking at, but as I've mentioned in the original post- I visit most Korean online communities, and people who have spent their entire lives in Korea are finding the Trickster's cosmetics completely far off. I'm not making a claim based on my sole opinion.

No, I'm trying to say that from my perspective, I've seen plenty of this sort of outfit in both Japan and Korea, as I had a longtime girlfriend who was part of the live music scene. I can only say what I've seen, and this isn't atypical. It's honestly quite tame to some of the other outfits I've seen (one or two had codpieces that would make David Bowie blush).

I also think that you are going looking for things to be offended about. Exercise a little charity - a foreign company is putting an aspect of your culture front and center, in the standard hyper-exaggerated manner DbD does.

Relax, have a laugh, maybe even be a little flattered.

There is no cultural appropriation, only appreciation.

I've been working on a fan killer for a little bit now. I've got the artwork done, the story done, the rough idea of the power and everything. But I'm trying to get some last minute ideas so when I post it on these forums it'll be the most polished concept I can provide.

One thing I've noticed with Killer's is that their powers often feel like they punish you. If you whiff, or miss there's always a penalty that just feels kind of bad. (Even though I understand it rewards survivors for playing good)

I'm trying to figure out a Killer power that would be fair, and fun to use. Like with Billy or Blight, just going nyoooooom is stupid amounts of fun. With Ghostie, his stalk is kind of meh but it's greatly satisfying to be able to teabag and lean around corners. With Demo, even though there's a cooldown with a missed shred it feels so fulfilling to just shred over and over again. (Ever just spam Shred to make the noise/do the animation?)

I'd like another sneaky killer, or one that spawns minions to attack.

A giant spoopy spider would fill both of these.

    Iri 1/ Iri 3/ Iri 4/ Bronze 3

It's been like this ALLLLL NIGHT. Like I can't catch a single break.

And its also SUPER FUN when they just insult me post game and call me trash :) And then I tell them they're being rude, I'm just trying to learn still, I get a very helpful "stop crying like a child and just play"

Like why are survivors SO toxic? Like yall will literally WIN EVERYTHING and somehow it puts you in a pissy mood to treat the killer like crap post game chat. And then survivors complain about 5min queues... can't imagine why there aren't more killers... hmm.. total mystery.

    Oh well!

Guess I'll go back into my killer queue and wait to team up against a 4stack SWF who are all TTV players. I'm sure I can give these Rank 2 Survivors some SICK game play :) I mean I am ash ONE after all. Thats almost bronze ;)

Grades have no connection at all to matchmaking. Matchmaking is based on a hidden MMR number.

    That said:

Right now there seem to be so many survivors and so few killers playing that I've been having kafka matches myself. One game I'm against a 2000 hour TTVer and his mates, the next I'm splatting sub 100 hour solo players.

Yeah I could see it, but honestly haven't had that problem in so long. If my killer can't hit people over loops or deny loops, they got bamboozle on. Especially the low mobility killers who in my opinion have to hard commit to chases no matter how bad the loops are.

I got used to bamboozle way long ago back when there were the legit infinite windows and just never took it off. Now I straight crutch on it and don't wanna learn how to mindgame those tiles again haha.

Is that the right answer? No, but against really good survivors there are really not many mindgames at safe loops anyways and you just gotta run it 3x in a row to entity block it and hope nothing else is nearby. Otherwise you gotta drop the chase, which loses you the game if your killer doesn't have mobility. It's lose-lose to me.

Ugh, I really don't enjoy Bamboozle, especially when it's just to counter a few 'this should have been fixed years ago' loops. My builds are already cramped as is.

  • @PressuredPerformer said:

Hi. I've never posted here before but I felt the need to share the general consensus among Koreans to the global community.

I visit a variety of websites where Koreans talk about DBD, including Twitter, Twitch and a community website similar to Reddit. Practically every Korean in every community finds most of the Trickster's cosmetics shocking. In other words, native Koreans are not on board with what the devs are proposing as 'Kpop fashion'.

The newest valentine outfit is especially considered downright horrifying and hideous. This miserable excuse for an outfit has literally nothing to do with Kpop. Still, it might have been acceptable if it wasn't described as a Kpop outfit. But the description indicates that it's a costume for his performance. Has anyone seen an Kpop idol dressed in an outfit that even remotely resembles this thing? As a Korean, who has listened to Kpop for my entire life, my answer is: No.

Which leaves the question pending: What do the devs even think Kpop fashion is supposed to be?

I don't know what the devs' actual intention was and how much effort they put in when they designed this cosmetic. But no matter how well meaning they were, if an allegedly Korean outfit looks nothing like actual Korean fashion, it sends a bad message. It comes across as apathy and a lack of research about Korean culture.

Most of the Trickster's cosmetics are unbelievably unrelated to Kpop and just look like pure nonsense. The newest outfit especially looks like random scraps thrown together. It gives the impression that the devs are under the belief that they can put together whatever random tidbits they want and then label it Kpop. A country's culture should not be arbitrarily fabricated like that. I can't go around putting together random garments and call it Canadian fashion, right? It's just plain wrong and rude. And yet that's what the devs are doing right now.

My best guess for this madness is that the devs thought they could make him a performer who wears experimental fashion, like maybe Lady Gaga or David Bowie. But they've forgotten the Trickster is Korean, and a Kpop idol at that. Kpop fashion is, er, way more conservative than whatever the devs are creating. Has anyone seen BTS wear anything like the Trickster? No. The fact that he's a performer does not give him a free pass to wear 'anything'. Kpop idols have their limits to their wardrobes.

Trickster's outfit does not align with the public sentiment in Korea, nor does it have any basis in actual Kpop fashion. It looks like it's based on pure imagination. As I've mentioned: no one has a right to go around imagining and fabricating another country's culture as they please. It's completely ignoring actual Korean culture and then claiming some unrelated thing to be Korean.

This repetitively terrible interpretation of our culture makes us feel like the devs have no respect nor interest whatsoever regarding Korea. Kpop is nothing close to a fashion indulgence and yet the devs are treating it as such. As a result of his monstrous sense of fashion, the Trickster is mostly regarded as a laughingstock among Korean DBD users nowadays. Koreans who don't play DBD are astounded by the Trickster's outfits and are asking if this is a bad joke.

As a user who loves to play the Trickster, and a user who believes that the devs have the potential to design a decent outfit(the Trickster's Pressured Performer and Yun-jin's Fire Moon Mourner were pretty cool, I'll give you that), I just wish the devs would base their cosmetic designs on thorough research rather than intuition and imagination. Please, at least do some basic research on Kpop. Please.

TL;DR: Trickster's new cosmetic is hideous and has nothing to do with Kpop. It looks like the devs are not doing any research and are simply making up 'Korean fashion' as they please. This is disrespectful and offensive.

If you have to go looking this hard and stretch this much to find something offensive, it probably isn't.

I've spent almost my entire adult life living in Asia, primarily Japan and Korea and all I can say is - this isn't far off some of the bizarre outfits I've seen performers wear. It's honestly quite tame.

A big part of being a happy, well adjusted adult is being able to have some fun and relax with others poking a bit of fun at you.

  • @OpenX said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/307282/the-swamp-infinites-how-havent-these-been-fixed-yet

Probably not an infinite, just really strong. You were not on Pantry because Pantry doesn't have the boat. Pantry does have a straight up god window at the main building though. BHVR nerfed most of them a long time ago but they forgot about that one.

Any double window setup with a safe pallet nearby is probably not worth chasing if you can avoid it. Father campbells chapel in particular spawns double windows alot with the shack window facing directly into a jungle gym window (and then of course main building god window can also spawn in at the same time too for some salt in the wound).

I personally feel naked going into games against really strong survivors on weak killers without bamboozle. There's just way too many ridiculous windows that have 0 counterplay on so many maps to not take it. Sometimes you get burned and end up on "The Game" with it, but the majority of the other times you land on a map where it means you can actually take a chase around those structures.

So it is just too valuable to give up imo. Plus it means I don't have to screw around at Jungle gyms or the Shack and can just get them automatically out of the way. Just don't fall into the trap of vaulting literally every window because you have it.

Yeah, it was the other one. I honestly forget there are two of those horrible maps.

The issue was that I was chasing and anti-looping as best I could, but was gaining zero ground. The corner log is just as annoying, honestly, zero ground made no matter what I did.

They scrapped the elaborated emblem system which took years of work that measured every skill you can develop at the game (the 4 emblems for survivor and killer)

With something more simplistic (SBMM) which measure ""Skill"" by only kills and escapes.

When you look at it this way, you can't expect SBMM to be better. For me its not only worse but also fails at measure skill cause kills and escapes its a pretty vague condition to measure a matchmaking for this game. Cause kills and escapes do not depend only on you but mostly on others.

The emblem system...didn't work. They put all that work into something that was broken from word 'go'.

It capped out so low and was so easy to smurf on that people were able to 100 win streaks with no addons on pre rework Plague, and even Fog Whisperers admitted to deranking to stomp newbies.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

How can they claim that it even has the bare minimum ability to accurately determine match outcome, anyway (which is completely irrelevant to the end user but hey)? How does it factor in maps/map offerings, last second swaps, items, add-ons, perks, etc etc?

What the hell is this system good for if I still face babies (when I even play) and people I know that have far less hours face gods? And yet still have decently long queue times...

The system is broke and it only continues to exist due to pride and ignorance.

This was even more true of ranks.

SBMM has issues (especially right now, with so many killers seemingly jumping ship) but it's certainly better than ranks were.

I have more than 2k hours and i still get baby dwights with vanilla outfits that DC or go AFK after getting hook.. From my experience SBMM did not change a thing other than making it worse.

Nowhere near as much as it happened before. Now, rather than 2/3 matches being poop, it's more like 2/5. That's an improvement.

It is not perfect, but 'perfect' will always be the enemy of 'good', and even more so 'better'.

You think the old emblem system was better? I remember regularly being matched with survivors that had 80 hours. I have 2000.

I think one of my earliest threads ever is still available, where I showed a postgame lobby with 4 players with 5000+ hours against me with 12.

  • @Irisora said:

Was it working at some point? i think not, the old MM was much better. The new one did nothing more than make SoloQ miserable, and increase the frequency of SWF squads while playing killer.

    Not from my experiences.

Ranks were awful for someone just starting out. Literally every game was either a smurf with multiple hundreds of hours more than me, a SWF of smurfs or just a SWF of purple and red ranks. The games where I actually felt like I had a chance were in the minority.

Right now, we are waiting on the next step of SBMM changes, which should tweak things so that when there aren't many killers on or when lobby dodges happen we don't get thrown to the wolves.

Why do people complain about going against a pinhead or a nemesis? But d

Because people fall into a comfortable routine running a Myers around the same loop for half an hour or stealthing it out and slamming gens, and really don't like having to do something different.

If you play any of the less conventional killers a lot (Hag, Demo, Pinhead, Artist, Doctor) - you'll see what I mean. So. Many. DCs.

Well, seeing as the wiki is official, I'm pretty sure the information put onto it is likely correct.

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/4HTIBBMM0EUL/capture-png.png

Not entirely sure what the latter two are.

I'll test that next time I go back to Pinhead. I remember Otz talking about this a bit back, so either something has been quietly changed somewhere, or I'm totally mistaken. It definitely feels like 30 seconds, unless I'm running Chatter.

  • @gendoss said:

It really sucks playing as a survivor right now. 5 games in a row and didn't get to end game once. I keep getting matched with survivors that have 200 hours and below. I can easily at least tie every game as killer and my wins are practically handed to me by going against bad teams. Just don't play survivor it's in such a bad state.

And here's me with 450 hours getting sweatsquads with 2000 hours each multiple times in a row.

I think there are just a lot of survivors playing, and not enough killers to go around. I think there are also a lot of lobby dodges happening which...I should honestly be doing more.

No, no, it's 10s for any situation Pinhead grabs the box off a Survivor (or the ground). That's not a Franklin's thing.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/307243/why-isnt-pinhead-disabled

Because I like the aesthetics, and aiming the chains can be fun, and when the chain hunt works it feels really nice to have that amount of pressure? Shockingly, the main reason I bought the game when I did was "I like this character", not "because SoloQ has the organisation of potatoes, because some people won't look how his chains spawn before complaining about them, and because some people don't remap their buttons". The voicelines just made it more appealing to go back.

Are you sure, Raineh? As far as I know, it's 30 seconds for a legit down or a pickup, and 10 with Franklins. I could be wrong though.

  • @Elfinlocks said:

Honestly, getting bullied with two boil overs making it virtually impossible to do anything as a killer that I'm just trying to have fun with makes me never want to play this game again. These guys were playing in such mean spirits and I just couldn't do it. Just remember guys that the killer is a person too.

    Yup. I feel you.

Funny that you complained a few hours ago about all Survivors running the same Perks. And now they are running Boil Over and it is not correct either.

You cannot win with Killer players.

Somewhere along the line, you've turned rather mean Aven.

Just because I tell you not to poop in my car doesn't mean I want you pooping in my shoes.

I know its not a valid play to play pig but after her nerfs, we all know she is useless. But now there is a new "strat" to play her and its really annoying. People are using pig, when you have your head-popper on she is just following you while crouching and tunneling you like that. Since she has no terror radius you cant do anything about it. When trying to remove she pick you up and hooks you.

It's kind an annoying situation. This option needs to be removed. It's the most absurd thing i have ever saw.

Unfortunately, that's sort of how Pig is designed. She even has addons to help her track and disrupt people doing boxes.

She's garbo tier and annoying. She is, along with Legion and GF, in sore need of a rework that isn't just 'we changed the colors of some addons, be grateful'.

Yep it was a lot of pinheads today probably because of the fixed voice lines. With the build i described and similar ones, like undying, haunted, obviously franklin demise, Dead man or pop and BBQ instead of haunted and undying.

But all of them used Dead man Switch and It worked really well for them cause it won't allow me or my team to finish anything. With chains almost always up you have to let go the gen or if hes coming directly to you.

So there really was nothing we could about that. And honestly the teams i got weren't bad in my soloQ they could loop the killer a bit. the problem is that it was impossible to repair.

If you see a Pinhead running Franklin's, absent like 4 medkits or something, that's a baby Pinhead.

Franklin's was quietly adjusted so that, if he gets the box via Franklin's, it respawns almost instantly (rather than the standard 30 seconds). Be ready to go and grab it, and he'll have wasted time.

  • @Tubby_Squirrel said:

Like don't get me wrong, its a strong perk, but is it any stronger than the likes of We'll make it? Botany knowledge? Green/Purple medkits?

You have to always keep in mind the advantages you do have: You know it takes 16 seconds to light it, there is a map-wide auditory que alerting everyone, killer included, that there is a boon in play, CoH does not bypass the Mangled or Broken status. The boon eminates a chime that, combined with experience and knowledge of bone spawns, lets you find them fairly easily.

In fact in my experiance I've had a ton of games where survivors straight up threw the game to try and keep CoH up instead of finishing gens. Games where they re-lit a boon 3-4 times next to a gen that I just keep kicking with pop or overcharge or whatever I'm using that game.

    You...may well be.

    Think of it this way.

    • CoH grants the entire team Self Care and turbocharged healing for the price of one slot.
    • You can put CoH in places where, even if the killer knows where it is, it's a net loss on time to snuff. And it can be relighted.
    • These positions also typically cover half the map. RPD library is a good example.

The issue with CoH is the issue with all boons (the intended counterplay doesn't actually counter them, and can set you behind) combined with incredibly strong numbers.

Again disingenuous, maybe ill just take out fun to play against as some are reading way too in to that. He is BROKEN because a patch or 2 ago it said they fixed the chains attacking when doing the box they didnt.

    Not disingenuous in the least.

We see these threads multiple times a day.

"I don't like playing against Demogorgon, nerf him".

"Artist is anti fun, nerf her".

Now, you are asking BHVR to take something away that people were both excited for and paid real money for...because you find it difficult to face in low MMR solo queue.

BHVR say lots of things in patch notes. Many do not go live. My guess is having the box be solvable with almost no risk or attention needed was too big of a nerf, on top of gutting most of his good addons. In this case, I'm also not sure what they said was what you think they said.

    @Irisora said:

I feel you, as soloQ i faced 8 Pinheads today 7 of them did 4k with 3 to 5 gens with little effort. Only 1 did a 2k and only because he had an awful build.

The thing with Pinhead is that his passive is overly opressive when also using slowdown builds. I and my team found it literaly imposible to repair a thing.

Chains are constantly making it near imposible to repair even if you are always going to solve the puzzle, the timer is very short.. and when you think you could do something he also have the new popular "Dead man Switch" alonside with "undying", "pop", "ruin" or "haunted grounds". This build with him is ez wins almost guaranteed.

Really? I played a handful of survivor games earlier on, saw 2 Cenobites, both got 4 outed.

I'm also not sure what you mean by those perks.

Pop isn't great on Cenobite. He thrives on escalating pressure, so you want hexes.

DMS is incredibly mediocre on Cenobite. Even reworked, the only killers I can think of that can do well with it are Doctor and Artist. It's also really easy to spot once it's in play.

Ruin Undying is the established meta for killers and has been for a long time.

Haunted Grounds...is okay on Cenobite, but you'd usually see it on killers with rapid movement or traversal abilities.

Don't be scared of Cenobites running those. Be scared of Cenobites with...other perks that I'm keeping to myself until my little challenge is over.

A few tricks to help you:

    • Don't immediately go and solve the box, unless a hunt is really close. Wait for someone else to be chased. Take it somewhere near a pallet or a vault in case he teleports.
    • Have a buddy break your chains for you, or use objects. He may as well not have a power in indoor maps.
    • Loop him aggressively. I think one of the big reasons that survivors QQ about him is that he's excellent against people that just hold W. If he chains you in the open, he'll catch up fast.
    • He's basically an M1 killer with a weak anti loop. Treat him as you would similar killers.

There. That should win you half the battle easily.

  • @BenSanderson55 said:

You can disable maps and perks when they're broken, what about killers?

This isn't me saying pinhead is op or strong. He's broken.

    1) Being attacked by chains when doing the box isn't fixed. "So then do it before chainhunt timer completes" brings me to point #2

    2) Soloq can't coordinate to do the box efficiently.

    3) I can't force console players to remap their buttons (vault, remove chains) or perhaps they don't even know.

I'm finally saying something because I've been getting a lot more pinheads lately. I assume his new voicelines, but I surmise mainly most killers know of the points I mentioned above and use him for those reasons, especially during the event. Because why use a bad killer (which i've heard numerous times since he was nerfed) otherwise.

And finally just my opinion, he isn't fun to play against, I prefer a nurse or blight to pinhead. Wonder why he gets so many DCs and deadhooks if he's so bad? lol

Sigh. I hate to say it, but this is a player problem here, not a Pinhead problem.

    1. Wait for chain spawn. Dodge chain spawn. Solve box. It's...really easy.
    2. That's a solo queue problem, and the solos I play against mostly seem to do totally fine against him. Against SWFs, he may as well not have a power. This game isn't balanced around solo queue, and BHVR actually expect to buff killers (implied from the QnA) once they give solos their new icons.
    3. This is a legit problem, but applies to a number of things in the game.

People don't have 'fun' playing against him because he requires them to exercise a bit of coordination and play slightly differently. Ditto Demo, ditto Artist, ditto Hag which are - surprise surprise - the ones that people seem to DC against constantly.

I'm not trying to be mean here, but when survivors say 'x isn't fun' what they mean is 'I can't just play how I usually play and still win'.

Cenobite is fine. He honestly needs a buff, if anything.

Yawn, that's not all i said, doesn't help to be disingenuous.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2773746#Comment_2773746

I'm glad there's a rational balanced opinion here. Good to know about chains in 3 never thought about that.

There is an implication. When survivors say 'x isn't fun' what they usually mean is 'nerf x because I don't like playing against it'.

There are tons of things that are unfun for killers to play against and many have been in the game for years.

Apex also has a much harder grind than DBD, let alone that if you can get the full ticket, you might aswell buy 1000 auric cells to have the premium items for practically free as your investment is consistently returned.

I've had all premium items and I only paid for 1000 auric cells back in 2020 once

    This.

I've had 1000 cells kicking around for ages, I just plug them into the rift. Gives me something else to do to break things up.

Eh, nothing will come close to old MoM or DS power levels.

Boil Over is currently only overpowered on specific maps. And on most of these maps these could get fixed by adding a hook near a location of said drop.

It took BHVR years to fix spots on other maps where you simply couldn't pick people up.

    I'm not holding my breath.
