Just curious. For killer and survivor day and night. Also what server/region do you play in?

For me here in NA West my Qs are consistent in length pretty much all day and night. Killer takes about 30 seconds or less. Rarely more. Survivor is noticeably longer at around 5 minutes. Sometimes more, sometimes less. Not terribly long, but a ways.

    Hbu guys?

Time of day used to be a big deal. Survivor queues were long in the morning, short in the day and moderate at night.

Now they range from 6-12 minutes at all times.

Killer queues were instant at night and about 3 minutes in the morning. Now they are almost instant at all times of day.

Tinkerer is broken too, and "overused" on Blight. So to say killer perks are nerfed when overused is the opposite of the truth. BBQ is overused and not nerfed. They may have changed Ruin because new players could not hit the skillchecks but it really wasn't that it was overused, but they either intentionally or inadvertently made the perk much stronger. Take a Blight that is all over the map, bouncing constantly and removing people from gens. It's common for Blight to constantly keep or two survivors on the hook - how can anyone find the totem?

This has become Whataboutism: The Thread.

Tinkerer is strong, but has counterplay. Use your eyes and get ready to hoof it at 70%.

Boil Over isn't strong, but if it's being abused - it has no counterplay. I tested Iron Grasp+Agitation versus a mate of mine in the RPD library. You are still unhookable if you go to the right spot. A 'closer hook' offering might be the trick, but two crap perks and an ultra rare offering should not be required to prevent griefing with this perk.

When did devs nerf overused killer perks? Ruin, BBQ still not nerfed. Killers get new strong massive slowdown perks with no nerfs.

Survivor perks like CoH already nerfed twice. Survivor perks are always nerfed, while killer perks are not touched.

Whataboutism means that you do actually concede that Boil Over is broken and needs to go away.

    But okay.

    • BBQ...what? BBQ is used entirely for BP gains. How on earth is BBQ OP?
    • Ruin isn't OP. Ruin is insanely fragile, requires a second perk to last more than a few seconds against a decent group.
    • The issue with CoH isn't the numbers. Well, not just the numbers. It's that the intended counterplay doesn't actually work half the time.
    • The issue with Boil Over isn't that it's strong. There are ways to rework this perk to make it viable. As it stands, it's the worst sort of perk - a weak perk only useful if you want to be a griefer.

If "you never play killer" is your only argument, then you have no arguments at all, because your ad hominem "assumption" about me is completely wrong. As I said, I mostly play killer now, because soloQ survivor after MMR is pure hell. At this moment I'm in a lobby as Bubba. But I see you are not up to a constructive discussion, so I don't feel like explaining and proving anything to a wall.

And now you've strawmanned me in a thread where I'm responding to your original strawman, making this a...strawducken?

    My points were:

    • Why are you bringing up boons out of the blue? This is a (bait) thread about Boil Over. Not boons.
    • You clearly do not understand the core issue of boons, which is that the intended counterplay to boons is often actually a trap.
    • From this, you either do not play killer, or have not played killer at that much.
  • @Sluzzy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2781105#Comment_2781105

Its really not abuse to use perks. It's not hostage when you can slug or use perks to counter it.

That's like saying 'it's not hostage when you can just DC to avoid it'.

On the off chance you are being serious here, don't be obtuse.

  • @Junylar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2781299#Comment_2781299

I play killer more often than survivor since MMR came out, so your ad hominem misses completely. Try playing soloQ survivor yourself once in a while to see the whole perspective instead of being a "main" who only sees everything from one side.

Yes, and I drive a Maserati made entirely of chocolate.

There's no ad-hom there. From what you are saying, it's reasonable to assume you don't play killer. It's like someone talking about the lack of traffic in New York.

I play both sides, killer a lot more.

But don't take my opinion as gospel. Instead, look at Otz, Tofu and the other 8000+ hour Fog Whisperers and their opinions on Boons.

    @Tubby_Squirrel said:

Not exactly a 1 to 1 cpmparasin. To deal with totems your side only needs to designate 1 or 2 of your combined 16 perk slots. We would have to set aside 1 of our total 4 slots.

That said boil over is really only effective on maps with a strong central structure that has verticality and the map is small enough that you can resonably get to it every time. Its one of thoes 'use with a map offering' perks imo on the same level as head on... super annoying when it does cost you a play, but the coordination and planning required means it will rarely happen.

IWOM, Eyrie, RPD. Potentially some farm maps. That's at least 4 maps. You can also use it to a lesser extent on Asylum.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2781247#Comment_2781247

Yeah, because 14 seconds of cleansing is the same as 1 second of snuffing, because 0.5 meter sound radius of hex is the same as 16m radius of boon's sound. We've heard all this before, these gymnastics never change.

Yes, we get it. You don't play killer, so you don't actually know how this works from the killers' perspective.

    Think of it this way.

    • You are on RPD.
    • You hear a boon and see people healing and being cloaked. You know it's a Shadowstep and CoH stack.
    • Where is the boon? It could be in the office, it could be in fifteen different places where it'll still cover half the map.
    • You guess that it's in the library, because survivors always put it there.
    • You go to the library, which is a long route totally out of the way.
    • Is it on top, or in one of the shelf locations, or in a corner?

Tell me, how much time have you just wasted?

    Multiply it by 4.

If the number isn't below 15, you've just lost the game.

  • @JUMPSCAREKILLER said:

You're completely screwing over your team and denying the killer BP because they...chose to play a killer that you don't enjoy facing.

It may not be bannable, but it's a really crappy thing to do. I like to think that karma will eventually catch up to these people and they'll always have someone else DC or suicide when they really need a win.

    Title

I still see it. It's not common, but it's certainly not terrible.

A lot of killers use aura reading, and this is actually a solid counter - especially in a SWF.

The issue is more that survivors have 6 or so perks that are so good right now that barely anything else is worth choosing.

  • @Adaez said:

How do you counterplay getting zoned out on every loop,if you try to loop, you get hit by her crows,if you dont, she just catches up and m1 you.

    A few tricks:

    • Run through the crow. You'll get birded, and then can almost always shake them off before she fires another.
    • When she sets the second crow, there is a distinctive audio cue. Treat that as you would a Huntress lining up a shot - juke it. Crows have a long recharge.
    • Don't sit around with crows on.

Basically, treat her like you would Huntress, if Huntress moved a bit faster but had fewer hatchets. And you can clearly see the hatchets coming.

    @Vampwire said:

Its literally just die. Any artist with a brain is going to zone u to where u cant break the crow.

I've seen top level killers (Otz in particular) get their cheeks clapped by decent survivors when they played Artist.

The problem is that she requires you to think a bit differently. Juke, consider the angles. If she locks down a loop, move to the next one.

    @IronKnight55 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2779543#Comment_2779543

Yep. I absolutely hate going against her. I feel like a good nerf would be to make it so you can't be injured by crows unless you're swarmed (this would make looping her a bit better). Right now, you either stay at the loop and get injured or run and get injured. It's a no-win situation.

This would make her worse than Wraith.

Against savvy survivors, you aren't going to get a double hit. It's so, so easy to juke her crows.

  • @ASSASSINR3X said:

I don't know about anybody else but in every game I've not survived once with Wraith being the killer. I honestly find the character kind of broken since you can barely run away from the guy when he uncloaks. It feels like it's impossible to even win against em. Like, I honestly think it needs a nerf but this can just be me being bad at the game when he is the killer. Thoughts?

    Wraith? No.

I'd go out on a limb and say he's one of the weakest killers.

    Think of it this way.

    • He's very strong against new players.
    • BHVR's gross kill rate charts they like to publish are overwhelmingly offset by newer players.
    • Wraith's kill rates are still low, meaning that against more experienced players he's absolute garbage.
  • @Edilibs said:

Eh i just ignore all the Boil Over users and will get them later or i'll let them bleed out, no big deal to me. There are other strategies that are worse to deal with believe it or not. Im not affected by the Boil Over users bc i know how to counter them.

The issue is that the counter is really tedious, and that's why people bring it.

It's purely to troll and grief by wasting your time, forcing you to babysit slugs for half an hour.

Killers: Hey, survivors, your boon perk is too strong!

    Survivors: Just do bon-

Devs: Nerf it to the ground!

This has somehow gone beyond strawman into the realms of the Strawzilla.

    image.png
    1. This isn't a thread about CoH. This is a thread about survivors abusing Boil Over to be literally unhookable.
    2. Iron Grasp and Agitation don't actually fully fix the issue. Some areas are still unhookable.
    3. Which hex perk are you referring to? NOED has counterplay, Ruin is fragile, the rest of the hexes are barely seen.
    4. Boons, on the other hand, have zero counterplay. Snuffing them, if you site them right, actually puts you behind. A boon in the RPD library or the second floor of Eyrie takes so long to snuff that even if you know roughly where they are, it takes less time to relight it.

    @Sluzzy said:

If anything the perk is too situational and not really helpful in most situations. It went from being completely useless to maybe helping in rare situations. I QUIT using it! I used it for 3 days and only got off a shoulder one time.  These kind of perks are HORRIBLE when it comes to sheer luck.

Killer complaints about Boil Over are not justified when they say they can’t rarely do their objective in rare situations. It is hypocritical for killers to complain about Boil Over when they bring in the most OP things in the game. Multiple slowdown perks that “prevents” the survivor from doing the objective. You know what killers tell me when I complain about Ruin? You have perks for that. Well, I have news for killers: You have perks to deal with Boil Over. Use them. Oh, or is that only for survivors?

Take off your sweaty builds and use Iron Grasp. You do not have to use the same perks every game. 3 and 4 slowdown perks are completely unnecessary. If you do not like Boil Over, bring a perk to counter it. This is what is told to survivors when they don’t like certain things.  “Bring a map, bring Counter Force, ….”

And lastly, Boil Over is no stronger on a SWF than Ruin is on an OP killer like Blight. I would say Boil Over is still weak and too situational.

I played against a Blight that used the new overbuffed Dead Man’s Switch and Scourage Hook: Pain. Nobody could do the objective. He easily won with several gens remaining because the survivors COULD NOT do the objective. This is beyond broken but lets sweep this under the rug and talk about Boil Over?

We need to stop balancing around high profile survivors in edge cases and leaving broken killers and perks unchecked. Killers win way too much and it is unhealthy for the game.

    Uh...what? Oh, hi Sluzzy.

    • Where is the hypocrisy? I'm...not sure if you know what that word means.
    • If there was a perk that allowed killers to prevent survivors from leaving the exit gates unless they had Red Herring and Empathy equipped, survivors would be rioting.
    • If survivors want to abuse BO, Iron Grasp and Agitation still don't help all that much. The issue is that you'll need to drop down from a high place to hook them, plus there are no hooks near enough to that position.
  • @Vampwire said:

Already this has proven my point that what-about-ism completely derails conversations. It wasn't a balance discussion about any of these topics but now it is. And the conversation is now pointless.

Actually, this was you fallacy-scolding that derailed the conversation :).

  • IWOM is another one. Run to the top and you are literally unhookable with BO, even if I'm running Agitation.

    @Adaez said:

I think its a good thing killers are forced to change their build from the same old meta.

    Is it?

To me, that's neither good nor bad. It depends on why, and how.

If the meta shifts because killers get a fun new perk that has interesting synergy (Penti was so close to this) that's awesome.

If the meta shifts because one decent perk and one terrible perk are now mandatory to stop a survivor taking the match hostage, that's crappy.

It's like allowing killers to prevent survivors from ever leaving the exit gates ever unless they have Red Herring and Empathy equipped. Would that be a good way to change the survivor meta?

Over 50 games my luck should have evened out... I can admit maybe I can get lucky for 5 games or 10 games even... but if the community is as bad as people say, then then chances of over 50 in a row is EXTREMELY low.

Many people say its more than half... but lets pretend its exactly half. Exactly half of matches people will send toxic insults in the EGC.

Well if that were the case, if it were exactly half, then the odds of 53 games in a row where I did not receive any would be less than 1 in 1 quadrillion. in number form that looks like this 1/1,000,000,000,000,000 again thats the odds if exactly half of matches have at least 1 person being toxic. Yet people claim its higher than half.

Now you are with in your right to say 1% is the limit or 2.5% is the maximum toxicity or maybe you want less than .1% of a community to be toxic... but over 50 matches in a row demonstrably proves it cannot be close to 50% and I can tell you from knowing human nature no community will be 0%

Then you are absurdly lucky or are playing at a very different MMR, possibly even a different region to myself.

I can tell you, as a fact, around half my games as killer have at least one of the following:

    • Someone rage DCing.
    • Someone lurking in the gates to teabag or act the fool.
    • Someone teabagging or spamming their flashlight to be annoying.
    • Someone being a jerk in postgame.

Perhaps it’s the map designs that need fixing and not the perk itself.

On one hand, we have a solution that requires BHVR to change multiple maps to negate griefing with one perk. It took them literally years to fix the spots on certain maps where survivors could crawl to be invulnerable to pickups, and there are still some in the game.

On the other hand, we have 1 change to 1 perk.

Which do you think is a more reasonable solution?

(I swear, this is people demanding to keep boon aura stacking all over again. Just play Plague or play an instadown killer! Sigh).

  • @Laluzi said:

So basically, I have to sacrifice half of my perk slots on the possibility my opponents might be running a perk and map offering that lets them become literally unhookable otherwise?

RPD's not the only one, either. Eyrie, Asylum, Badham, and Dead Dawg all have trouble spots. It gets much worse when you add oak, sabo, and bodyblocking into the picture.

I don't need Detective's Hunch to counter NOED - I can learn where totem spots are all on my own. I don't need Prove Thyself to counter Ruin/Tinkerer. I need Agi/Iron Grasp to counter Boil Over.

Mm. Plus, at worst - NOED makes you win. It doesn't let you basically stall a match out forever because you feel like sulking.

That's the core issue. Boil Over isn't a strong perk. It's just a terribly designed perk that allows people to take a match hostage.

  • @dugman said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2779660#Comment_2779660

On a tangent, everybody is focusing on Agitation and Iron Grasp, but don't forget you can also mitigate Boil Over somewhat by using the Oak offerings that reduce the distance between hooks. (Of course on the flip side survivors can use Oak offerings to make the hooks farther apart so it does go both ways.)

Most of the dedicated bully squads abusing Boil Over+No Mither will use 1 RPD, IWOD or Eyrie offering and 2-3 further hook offerings.

If it is not strong, it doesn't need reworked. No reason to complain about it.

    Think of it this way.

There's a perk that, while not very good, can randomly cause the killer to be unable to pick you up unless they are running Deerstalker and Distressing - meaning that all killers now have to run these two perks.

Do you think that perk is healthy for the game?

  • @Mileena_Kahn said:

It honestly doesn’t need any nerfs or changes. Whether it’s meta or not, you can adjust your build to play around it. You can use agitation, iron grasp, or a combination of the two. Just like how survivors get told to run Detectives hunch, or counterforce to counter ruin/undying/NOED you can do the same as well. I promise you’ll be fine without your Ruin, Undying, Pop, Corrupt, Tinkerer builds you use every match.

    Hi Sluzz...oh wait.

    Anyway...no. Just no.

I run Agitation on a lot of killers. You can still completely take the match hostage on at least 3 maps.

Killers shouldn't have to run two mandatory perks to avoid survivors just stalling the game out forever.

Boil Over is the worst sort of perk. It's not strong, but it's annoying to face and can be used to grief. Remove the % lost on drops, rework it into something both useful and healthy for the game.

Lol. If 3 perks are mandatory to avoid survivors taking the game hostage, that's a sign that something needs fixing.

  • @Maverick_74F said:

Like the title states some killers are boring to play and to play against. Just a couple I think of are

    -bubba (lazy killer design)

    -twins (uhhh pick rate)

-wraith (Bing bong hit Bing Bong hit)

    Just my thoughts. Anyone agree?

At the current rate of balance, once all the weak killers get their eventual buff it'll probably be heading towards the end of 2023.

I...wouldn't hold your breath on reworks to killers like Twins (BHVR literally doesn't seem to understand them), Wraith (due to his nature of a noob stomper). Bubba already got a rework and is a lot less clunky than he used to be. He's just got a terribly outdated kit.

We'll see a GF and a Legion rework, probably in the mid patch after Ringu (Summer 2022) and the next mid patch (Autumn 2022). Whether these come out to a Plague 'she's really fun to play' rework or a Pig 'we've changed the color of some addons, be grateful' rework...we'll have to see. After that, maybe Twins will get a small buff (this time next year).

  • @ThiccBudhha said:

Well, the problem is that they do not consider gameplay to be toxic.

They don't consider anything short of hatespeech and legitimate threats to be toxic. In fact, they think that insults and being a jerk are sort of an integral part of online gaming.

It's not a stance I agree with, but it is what it is.

  • @Vampwire said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2779559#Comment_2779559

yea but this isn't a dead hard discussion. bringing up random unrelated topics won't help anything.

As for annoying and powerful perks the same exact thing could be said about killer. What about 4 slowdowns and alch ring blight? Video tape and ruin+undying pig? Pinhead with engineers fang or impaling wire? None of those are fun for survivor. I think those should be reworked too. They are very unfun to play against and give the killer a massive advantage just for bringing it.

^ That is the exact same as complaining about dead hard in unrelated threads. ^

I get dead hard is one perk while those are a combination. And I'm not saying DH shouldn't be a priority. But when we start throwing around unrelated suggestions it can and usually will just spiral out into a different conversation that offers nothing of use. That's the point I'm trying to make.

    Uh:

    • 4 slowdown Blight would be inefficient. Alchemist's Ring is something that everyone and their dog knows is OP, but by the stats...Blight looks fine, so no changes.
    • Video+Ruin Undying is incredibly fragile and top heavy.

I think that a lot of killers are just hurting right now, due to bizarro changes and nerfs, the new Boil Over basically allowing legitimized griefing and SBMM pooping the sheets at night these days. The fact that my killer queues are now instant even in the daytime is concerning - it means that the sheer imbalance of the factions is going to start completely breaking SBMM soon unless BHVR somehow finds a way to get more killer players into the mix.

  • @GamerEzra said:

I feel like i can't be the only one who plays more survivor then i used to do.

Yes...but it's purely coincidental. SBMM brought me back to the game, and with me playing more, I occasionally dabble in survivor a bit more.

I personally find survivor a lot less engaging, and I tend to get bored after 2 or 3 matches, win or lose.

What's happened recently though is that I'm playing less, and now I'll be avoiding playing at night completely, at least until the SBMM changes go live. It's just miserable.

Ive played both sides since release but I still get ######### on for saying I think the game is fairly balanced at this point , it's a far cry from 2016-2018 DBD and I think for the most part alot of people do play both sides, I think a big part of the problem people have is refusal to accept mistakes and instead blame something on the other side for their loss, whether it's a survivor complaining about killers or vice versa the fact no one can accept their mistakes and alot of people think they're a god is where this mentality comes from on us vs them, people refuse to accept what they did wrong to improve it and instead will continue to play the same way whilst complaining the other side is abusing something.

    Not...really.

There is an element of this, to be sure - but I don't really mind losing a game.

    What I mind is:

    • The games where I'm clearly mismatched with my opponents, skill wise. It's not much fun to roll over newbies, and it's even less fun to get rolled over by a team with quadruple your hours and stacked meta perks. SBMM seems to work pretty well in the daytime, but nights are a horror show, and the fact that my killer queues are getting shorter during daylight hours is...worrying.
    • The attitudes of survivors when they win. I understand people who are a little salty on a loss, but the survivors who are gracious in victory are an extreme minority. EVERY game I lose has people hanging out in the exit gates to teabag and act like fools. I think that so many gripes that killers have about the game would vanish if survivors were just a little...nicer.

THERE IT IS EVERYONE!! THERES THE WHAT-ABOUT-ISM GUY!!

You aren't wrong - but it's a bit stinky to try to get a killer perk nerfed when there are far, far more annoying and powerful survivor perks in the wild.

If you are pointing out an inconsistency or a higher priority change needed, that's not whataboutism. If my car has a scratched door and a busted muffler, and I complain about the door my mates aren't whatabouting when they tell me to get the muffler fixed first.

  • @Dionysus42 said:

I noticed a second jungle gym sometimes spawning at the back of the map (extreme opposite of where shack is), where before there were a bunch of low fences every game. Did they really buff a map that was already survivor-sided?

Yeah, as people have learned this map - it's actually a really nasty one for killer. Most similar to Ormond, you've got really safe gyms and pallets all over the place, incredible visibility in all directions and a godly central structure.

  • @OneGoodBoyDemo said:

For example, there was a situation where me and another person were repairing a generator, the killer hooks someone and goes after the other survivor, so the person who was with me decides to rescue the person from the hook, why does the generator have to block while i can still repair?

I think it should be almost like repressed alliance, you can't block the generator if there is someone repairing, dead man's switch should block the generator if everyone leaves, not only one.

I've been running DMS in several builds now - and it's one of those perks that'll rattle newbies but experienced players can negate it quite effectively.

    • If you have PR, just release the gen before someone gets hooked.
    • If no PR, the perk is only really strong on Artist. And I'm okay with that.
  • @Sally_S_gay_son said:

We had this topic about some other killers, but with the newest data about kill rates, there she is, Sally right at the bottom of the list as the ''worst killer'', again, even after being in this game from almost the very start.

When I started playing DBD I was intimated by her power sure, but I have been pretty much maining her for the last couple of months and it's honestly been a blast. Her power is just so fun to use, and she can benefit from any type of build. These days I am just running wall-hacking nurse (bbq, I am all ears, nurses and lethal) but you have the insta down starstruck build, the obvious slow down boring build and then everything in between, and yeah when mastered she is the best killer in the game, which is why I am surprised that people are not learning her more in this current state of the game lol. I actually reached rank 1 as a killer for the first time when I got better with her which actually made me motivated to play more killer side overall.

Dead Hard is a problem for sure, but once the survivor uses it, then what ? You are still a nurse and pallets and windows mean nothing.

COH can also work against you as every other killer and it cost me a lot of matches for sure, but I would say it was my mistake since I did not commit to chases, since in most cases, when you get better you end chases way too quickly for it to matter anyway and everyone just starts dying.

On the flip side, and the reason why I started this thread, even as a rank 1 survivor who often plays with my friends who also have thousands of hours in the game we mostly face Blight, like I mentioned in one of my posts, one day it was 8 Blights, 3-4 in a row.

Dying to a tinkerer ruin undying pop blight honestly feels like a chore I have to go trough once a day at this point (do not get me wrong I love Blight, he is super fun to play and go against, but I honestly had enough lol).

And I honestly do not think Nurse is that hard to learn, it takes you some time to get the muscle memory down but after that it becomes easier. Are people that lazy to learn or just can't handle the constant losing at first? I mean yeah it sucks when you start to learn and can't land a blink to save your life, but everyone knows how strong you can become after practicing, and most importantly it's just fun, you are not bound to pallets stairs window, you are playing your own game and Survivors mostly can't do anything about it lol

Learning to play Nurse is fun and all - if you only want to play Nurse. It feels like the more I play her, the more I *un*-learn how to play everyone else.

There has to be a bug with matchmaking that they still haven't identified. I keep getting absolute babies at night and I have 3500 hrs. Those nasty 3k hr SWFs are usually something I handle really well. Those are what I should be getting and I don't understand why it won't match me with them.

If I throw in the towel, it won't be because I'm having a hard time. It'll be because I'm bored out of my mind.

You're not getting them because I always seem to :)

I'm a pig main I can't play against Swfs anymore man I always back out. Thankfully it's not to hard to find out who's a swf or not. Games are alot more close usually getting a 2k or a 1k and when I win it comes down to the wire.

Yeah, when I play nights these days it's Hag, Artist or Demogorgon. Killers I can mostly hold my own with against very annoying groups.

    I’m genuinely curious.

The other day I loaded into a lobby where one of the players put in chat that I was toxic for advertising my stream by having TTV in my name. As well as a lot of killers have been face camping and tunneling me for having TTV in my name. I normally keep a positive attitude throughout all of my encounters like this and don’t let it get to me but it made me wonder… is it right for a player to automatically assume a streamer is toxic without going into their stream if they are live? and is it OK for the killer to only tunnel the TTV without motive or seeing if they really are toxic?

The one thing that annoys me is that people automatically assume that I am toxic just for having TTV in my name when they don’t come to check out to see what kind of streamer I am.

anyway I want to know other peoples thoughts on this topic! Thanks!

No, but I'll tend to dodge them. Especially Russian TTVs. I'm sure it's not in any way indicative of Russian players or people in general, but some of the absolute worst times I've had with this game has been against streamers with Cyrillic names.

I mostly like to play chill, but I've literally never run into a chill, fun TTVer. They are always super sweaty, will use every broken loop and perk in the book and are all too often extremely BM on top of it. At least the survivor TTVers I've played against.

I've only ever faced 3 TTV killers, and they were at least polite.

Since the start of the currently event, i noticed a randomness of survivors on my lobbys (which i suposse is high MMR for the numbers of 3k / 4k i do), some very good (as was usual) and others not so much, but the numbers of potatos (really beginners) increased a lot, im always having at least 1 potato on every match and sometimes 2 or 3.

I'm having now easiers matchs than before SBMM, or the same, almost can't remember the good old days where we had a random matchmaking which happened to balance this completelly unbalaced game because survivors had some potatos running around instead 4 people trying-to-be-optimal.

P.S.: I don't think we have a problem with SBMM by itself, the problem is how unbalanced the game is and SBMM only made it obvious. With a more balanced game, I think SBMM is A LOT better than previously matchmaking by grades.

What I think has happened is that the killer/survivor ratio has hit a certain critical mass where, when there are high volumes of players, survivor queues become so long that SBMM may not actually exist.

In the last few days, my daytime matches are mostly pretty fair. Win or lose, it never felt like there was literally nothing I could have done.

Nightimes...complete wildcards. I'll have 1 game with a 5600 hour Meg and a 38 hour Ash. Then I'll have a game against a full TTV premade with stacked perks and 4 Brand New Parts that run every loop perfectly and finish the game in less than 3 minutes. Then I'll have a game against a group of solos, with one being a semi-famous ultra skilled 8300 hour streamer. Then I'll have a game against 4 newbies.

    Two possibilities!

    1. You all over exaggerate how often people are Toxic.
    2. I need to play the freaking lottery because I am impossibly lucky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3lAdRraooY
    1. I don't.
    2. A sample size of less than 30 in a game with hundreds of thousands of players...what exactly do you think this shows?

In the last...say 50 games I've played on killer, maybe 1/3 of the games have had a survivor being toxic in some fashion and 1 in 10 had someone holding the game hostage with Boil Over.

  • @Tubby_Squirrel said:

Why do you 'have' to dodge? What happens when you loose? Asside from well... almost nothing....

also you should NEVER DC It is never the right choice.

If you care about points: A DC is always 0, playing is always more.

If you care about grades: A DC is always -2 pips and a bad loss is -1

If you care about winning: A DC is always 0%, playing is always higher than 0%

So no matter what DCing is a bad call.

I'll dodge with a totally clear conscience, considering that maybe 80% of these groups are toxic as hell. I have no problems losing, but I dislike being gloated at and disrespected, so thanks - but no thanks.

I'll also happily DC on RPD if someone has Boil Over. It's not a matter of winning or losing, it's a matter of people knowing that if you have BO, you are unhookable from certain points of the map, and the second they are losing survivors will just sit in that location and force you to bleed them out to be BM.

They are shorter than they used to be (since the event), but I still have to wait a few minutes to get a game. My survivor queues are still pretty much instant during the day (well at least faster than killer), so I play survivor during the day and killer at night. I've played this way for a couple of years now.

Yeah we are likely either playing at very different MMRs or very different regions. My survivor queues are longer during the day - pushing well past 10 minutes at times. And I'm escaping...maybe 6 in 10 games, so it's not at any extreme MMR either.

  • @IronKnight55 said:

Not really and I only play killer at night because of long queue times during the day. I haven't played a match as killer during the day in a LONG time. I still have fun, though.

    ...

    What queue?

Whether I'm on my 'good' killers or my 'bad' killers, my queues are now completely instant. Day or night.

  • @Aurelle said:

Here I am talking about Boil Over (again).

I have been using Boil Over a lot recently (mainly to see how it affects matches) and I noticed that every time I run it the killers will camp me on first hook, tunnel me, or slug me to death. Like I know it's an annoying perk and everything, but most maps I get and most places that I get downed it doesn't even make a difference. I don't even bring perks to pair with it.

Killers must really hate this perk if seeing someone bring it causes these reactions.

    Yup.

If I see it, I'm tunneling you out.

It's a perk that is used to deliberately annoy the stuffing out of killer players.

That's just people being ######### because behaviour sucks at managing that.

I'm just saying why killers tend towards a bunker mentality, especially when survivors start QQing about 'us versus them' nonsense, or trying to frame literally every killer feedback thread as 'lul us vs them shut up'.

It's an effect caused by survivor players - as people.

  • @CyberDragoon656 said:

Just as the title says this is not a call to say everyone should think like this but rather a little snippet as to why people think this way.

the US vs them mentality is never going away thanks to the devs making a game where it is "all play the same vs all play differently" so unlike if a fighting game tweaked a character or if a team game tweaked something its not everyone gets hit only one side does and the other reaps the benefits no matter what anyone says that's why especially now when people say it's survivor sided it's not "they want a 4k" or some bullshit some people say for the most part it's that the game made it where survivors reap the reward while killers do not.

    Sure.

    Here's my best example.

In what's probably creeping up past 450 hours as a killer player, I've had literally 2 survivors give me a pity kill on a blowout game.

    2.

If I don't give the last survivor the hatch or gate on a blowout game where I 3k at 5 gens, I'm the biggest jerk in the world and literally the sort of person that bullies people IRL.

The reason for the mindset comes down predominantly to the way survivors treat killer players in comparison to how they expect to be treated by killer players.

PR does not proc DMS afaik.

It absolutely does proc DMS if they are on the gen when PR procs.

    Really?

If so, then that is probably the problematic interaction in this equation.

DMS is okey on Trapper, Pig, Myers, Legion etc.

DMS is strong on Freddy, Doctor, Nurse, Blight, Demo etc.

DMS is issue on Artist. Why?

You got down one survivor, you hooked him. First gen blocked by Pain Resonance. And then you are sending your crows to other generators. If survivors leave gen, they blocked too. If survivors stay on generator, you will snipe them with next crows.

And you are doing this while you are camping your hook. Survivors need to hook trade for save their teammate.

Artist has great generator pressure while she is camping with this perk.

So... They need to nerf Artist's camp gameplay or they need to nerf DMS. Because all killers need to leave hook for value of DMS. But Artist can stay on hook and pressure on generators. This is not healthy and broken.

This is issue about DMS for me. And i tested myself btw.

Regarding Artist - think of it this way.

PR does not proc DMS afaik. Stay on gens until you get birded, then leave. Keep in mind that the 'block' protects the gen from regression (it should also stop the mini pops, but I'm not sure about this). If she's sending birds to gens, she isn't using birds to camp.

If she's face camping the hook, bum rush her. She has no power near hooks and is a straight up M1 killer. If she's proxy camping, this is even easier as you can likely bait her into a chase while someone else rescues. Send someone with BT, DS or similar.

DMS is strong on Artist, but I don't think it's any stronger than other perks.

Camping overall is too effective a strategy though.

I decided to make this because I've been having a rough day today and seems like this board could use it to contain a lot of the similar frustrations most Killers tend to feel.

    ------------------------------------------------

Decided to play Pyramid Head today and I've spent roughly an hour and a half trying to get out of Ash II because I just suck too much at Killer. If I get a couple wins, I usually get 1 pip. Very rarely do I ever get 2. Well, I got a 3k and a couple 4Ks. Got stomped next match. No biggie, not every match is gonna be a win. Stomped again the next match. And the next. And the next, and the next, and the next. That isn't fun. It's not fun to suddenly feel like I'm repeatedly going against people way better than me. I'm still the same me as I was the first 3 games, it's not like I suddenly dipped in quality of play.

I'm just frustrated because I want to be better at Pyramid Head but sometimes it doesn't even feel worthwhile to be good at it. My "reward" is usually just getting destroyed twice as many times in a row as I won. Part of it is on the fact that I don't tend to run gen slowdown perks but everytime I do it just seems like they don't make that much of a difference.

I know, I should take a break and play something else. Or work on games where I am already good to some degree.

I love PH as a killer, but he has two aspects that make him just...not fun to me.

    • His addons are either boring and okay, or boring and completely useless.
    • His cage mechanic doesn't interact with hook perks well.

A warm summer breeze chimes the little bell hanging from the balcony ceiling.

    • Causes all Survivors to hear the Phase-Walk Sound cue.

I tried this out one game and it can actually be a solid combo. It's pretty much gen pressure you can get across the map by just phasing and if the survivors aren't ballsy enough, they'll let go of the gen and it will block the gen while DMS is active. It's pretty fun when it works and I'd recommend it next time you play Spirit. I would suggest you put on Discordance or BBQ and Chili so you can have a better idea of where survivors are which could lead to potential gen grabs if the survivors are very ballsy.

If you do try it out, let me know how it went. Hope your games as Spirit go well!

This is actually a legit interesting idea.

  • @FruityCocktail said:

How did they manage to get ALL 5 gens done when you tunneled one player out of the game at 5 gens?

Also, Nemesis needs reworked along with Deathslinger and Pym Head.

You can't make anti-loop Killers when Survivors only have looping to survive. And looping SHOULD BE THE ONLY thing that lets survivors "rank up." Swan diving the hooked survivors and only doing gens isn't useful as being able to loop a Killer who refuses to concede the chase.

Then you need to reduce the power of loops. There are still defacto infinites in the game (Swamp *cough*). Do that first, then we can discuss toning down anti-loop killers.

  • @Erd69 said:

What is playing fair? Not tunneling? Camping, slugging? There's no such thing. Playing fair is actually playing "scummy" I guess. I mean, the game does favor survivors a alot and expecting a killer to play "fair" is just stupid. I'm putting myself at a massive disadvantage just by not tunneling or camping which is unfair because survivors do gens hella fast and abuse meta perks. Survivors do not play "fair" so that killers can have fun. Survivors do not care about killer fun and they just use meta perks to clap any killer. A killer who doesn't tunnel or camp is actually playing unfair because why should they care about survivor fun when killer fun doesn't even exist or get mentioned?

They're looking into fixing facecamping, but regular camping is a-okay.

You mean proxy camping? Artist isn't really that great at it unless she dedicates multiple birds at a distance for a double tap. She's an M1 killer and cannot use her power near hooks - just bum rush her.
