  • I just swing. The way I see it you waste just as much time waiting it out as you do by hitting it. I rather not wait and swing.

  • A little. Like I wont go out of my way to tunnel but if you hop right back on a gen I'm patrolling I'm not going to ignore you even if you were rescued a few seconds ago.

I'll also let you do the glyph.

I wont BM except if you're a super good looper I may hit you once on hook as a high five. Let you know you did a good job.

  • Please, I want to run skill check doc without effectively cheating.

SWF doesn't give any advantages!! Killers only lose to them because they played bad!!

This is false and you know it. People over blow the advantage of SWF, it doesn't automatically make you loop better or anything like that...

But knowing who the killer is pressuring at any given time, being able to call out if the killer chases you past a lit totem, where they're headed after hooking you, four eyes looking for clues to the killers perks, knowing who on the team as We'll Make It and BT... Its a pretty big advantage over 4 solos.

  • I don't camp or tunnel because it will not help me get better at the game. Now sometimes if they drag their feet with a rescue I may camp out the last 5 sec of a hook state, or if the healthy unhooker hides while the unhooked runs to a dead zone... ima punish that bad play with a tunnel.

But I will not face camp a kill at the end game or anything like that because if I didn't have the skill to actually get a kill then I should not falsely tell the system I did. See, MMR can't work if you lie to it. By forcing kills with these tactics MMR thinks you were on par with these survivors, it assumes you were on even footing so it puts you against even better survivors. Uh-Oh! You could only beat the last team with hard camping and tunneling and now this team is even better and you catch catch anyone! Not MMR's fault, YOUR fault. YOU told MMR 'Hey look, I got 3 kills!'

Like when Starcraft players discovered they could win games by spawning 6 zegling as fast as possible and sending them to the opponent at the start of the match (Known as a 'Zergling Rush') they rocketed up the leader board until they hit a sheer wall... players who knew how to deal with this tactic and now they're playing against players far above their skill level with no other skills to fall back on.

The same thing happens in fighting games. You pick a character with an easy to use cheese move and beat the first 5 or 6 levels... then as the CPU difficulty increases or as your rank increases if playing online... you get players (or higher level CPUs) and now spamming that 1 move doesn't work anymore. They know just how to dodge or block it, then punish the end-lag with a combo and you have no IDEA what to do.

  • More testing, its any time you look down. It seems like i'm looking inside the model or something. Steam version of the game.

  • Remember when you could put Monitor and Abuse on Slinger and shoot people from outside your terror radius?~

  • I feel Billy is harder to play than Nurse, but is weaker than about half the killers in the game. At his very best, a true master of the character who knows all the spots to curve and all the best angles.... I don't see him being in even the top 1/4th of killers. Even though IMO his skill floor is one of the highest in the game.

  • IMO 'Toxic' is when BM, insults or tactic go beyond the bounds of the game. Flashlight clicking and T-bagging could arguably be seen as greifing, especially at the exit gate but since it doesn't effect into the next match or outside the game its not really toxic.

Slugging all for survivors to bleed out instead of hooking them, that crosses into toxic though since in wasting their time you DO effect the next match and whatever they were going to do since you are delaying the end of the match.

Insults like 'Oh gotta use your EZ crutch perks!' or other trash talk is whatever but when you bring people's real lives into it like 'I hope you get sick.' or 'Your family doesn't love you' over a ######### computer game thats pretty toxic.

Imo 'griefing back' when someone griefs you, thats perfectly fine. Survivor t-bags so you smack them on hook a few times? Perfectly fine. Survivor T-Bags you so you call them cancer and insult their family? NOT ok.

  • Push your limits- Permanently have 2/3/4% haste. Suffer from the exhausted status effect the entire trial.

Last ditch effort- Press the active ability button to attemt to self unhook on the struggle phase at a base 5% chance.

Till my last breath- Each time you or a teamate advances a hookstate, gain a token. Wiggle progression is 1% faster for each token. 'Till my last breath' can only be use once every 60/50/40 seconds.

I think these are the perks I would come with if I were a survivor.

  • Springtrap in DBD is like Steve in Smash.

You might want him. You might not want him. You may actively hope against him...

But you know. You know in your heart that its going to happen. You can try to deny it, or list reasons why it wont happen... but in your heart of hearts you know its only a matter of time. maybe not next update, or even the one after that. But I think its very clearly a 'when' not an 'if' that he is added to the game. Whether you want him or not.

  • I sent myself there as silent bell Wraith. It was glorious~

  • @Aurelle said:

Usually it's just out of spite. Other than that, probably just to prevent you from using your hook perks.

    I hadn't considered that, actually!

  • So many people like to act like they're in the top % of MMR where they only see Blight and Nurse. I wonder how many actually are XD

  • .... Mine is not an opinion though, mine is objectivly how the game is coded to function. If the game were over at 0 hooks and all gens done, then being in that situation would instantly warp all players to the results screen. It does not. Its not me deciding when the game is over, its the design and coding of the game that decides when no more inputs can happen.

You're basically saying Football games are over halfway into the first quarter. That Basket Ball games should be called at 2 minutes left. Some how video games fell through the cracks of proper sportsmanship... Since I was a baby I was taught to play out the whole game. Quiting before the clock hits 0 is exactly the same as a todler stomping away from the table because they're loosing in Candy Land.

I'm not saying if there is a strong possible of racking someone for at least one kill don't take the chance, but if they've done all the gens and you're in a situation where you've only one hooked everyone or hooked no one, the game is over. Unless you've got an endgame build perkwise or a killer with near or on-demand instadowns there isn't much to do except get to the result screen so you can queue for another round.

It's not as if I want people to give up mid game, but from personal experience it is just much less stressful to know when to just open the door and find a corner. So much of playing killer comes down to managing your stress level because this game does get very stressful for you as a player the longer you play. When I started this game we didn't have the option to just concede when it was very apparent the game was over so having the option to cut the crap and move on is a godsend.

I could probably have said what I said earlier with less meme style writing, but yeah. Like Kenny Rogers said, "You gotta know when hold 'em. Know when to fold 'em, Know when to walk away and when to run."

Sorry to say, but you are factully incorrect. If you have only 1 or 2 hooks and they have done all gens the game is NOT over.

If you have ZERO hooks and the gates are open, the game is not over.

When you are looking at the results screen, the game is over. Not 1 second before then.

Even if I have 0 hooks, and all gens are done, I am STILL going to try and hunt you with the same icy focus as the rest of the game. You gain a MASSIVE advantage if you can be not tilted when the other side suspects you are. When you're up against ME you better not celebrate until you're looking at the word 'Escaped' 😈

  • @Dwight_Fairfield said:

"SBMM has not affected my killer games"

    "The game is dying"

"Such and such killer takes no skill"

The first one, it really hasn't. Matches are random as ever. Maybe it has an effect if its really really high or really really low, but if its anywhere in between you have an equal chance to get a team of babies or a team of loop gods.

  • When people describe how often they get salt in egc. Like it is litterally imposible to get salt from 50% of survivors on avarage beause no one platform (at least if polls are accurate) has 50% of the player base. The most populated platform is PC that has almost 50%

And in genral I feel like people are just popping off. We're playing the same game how can I never get salt or Toxicity yet you claim to have it every game or every other game? I play almost every killer, I switch up perks, I play a bit dirty from time to time so I can't think of any factors that would cause such a discrepancy except that you are over exaggerating.

I also think people over exagerate how often they go against 4 mans, just because they have a tiny amount of cordination doesn't mean they're on coms. It could just be hours in the game, intuition, ect. Someone was able to communicate to me 'Lets 99 the gen, heal, then finish it.' by just double crouching when the gen was at about 85.

And people VASTLY over exaggerate how strong a SWFing is. Just because a team has communication doesn't mean they have good communication. Nor every swf has communication like "Hex at the 4 o' clock LT wall, right on the corner of the long side!'

No its gonna be more like 'Oh he chased me past the hex!'

    'Oh, where?'

'Um at a jungle gym loop.... its like across from main.'

    'What side?'

'The side with the drop down window.'

Do none of this. They won the game already, Open the door and walk into a corner in the basement and go grab a snack. The point machine is closed

Don't ever give up, even as they are in the gate attempt to down them!

The game is NOT over at 1 gen left.

The game is NOT over when the gates are open.

The game is over when all five players are looking at the results screen!

Hunt them until the clock hits 0. Be relentless! Be icy and calm.

  • As killer I never give up. Don't think I wont pull you out of the exit gate for another hook, because I will. Stopping to tbag against me just gives me a free shot. I will mori you inside the exit gate area without hesitation.

As survivor I may stick around the exit gate area to apply last minute pressure and force the killer to come push me out to buy time for a save, or if the killer had a very rough game I'll let them hit me for a few extra points (If I know NoED isn't in play.)

  • @Shroompy said:

    No

    why?

Just because a team has communication doesn't nessisarrly mean they have good communication.

  • Rupture is my favorite survivor main to watch. He's a Bill main so you know he's a bit wacky. He likes to use meme perks like pebble and deception.

He also has open SWF games with the rule that 'If you BM, it has to be durring the game, not at the exit gate.' Once a week he cosplays as Bill.

  • I almost think there is no MMR system and its completly random. They just told us there's an MMR system as a placebo.

  • Hey, you're the killer you make the rules, not them. If you wanna be nice, good for you. If not well... sucks for them XD

  • @The_BiggCheeze said:

So survivors don't have to do work? The totems are there just to look pretty? Give me a break, Noed can be broken BEFORE it can even be used. Cry me a river.

Agreed. Survivors only need to use 2 of their combined 16 perks to stop NoED. With Small Game and Counter Force it is perfectly reasonable to have every un-booned totem broken.

  • You do have to work for it. You earn it by playing the rest of the game with only 3 perks.

  • In my experience, Clown. His power is weak, he almost always needs 2 m1's, his anti-loop is not all that strong, the yellow bottles are situational and hard to use effectivly because of the delay before the cloud starts working.

Trapper's power at least injures, Legion at least has map traversal and again his power actully injures so he can run, stab, m1. Pig is kinda ok at a lot of things but not really good at anything.

For Clown I feel like he's not really even ok at anything. He has a chase power and nothing else but its not even a very strong chase power.

  • Some of the stranger Zelda enemies could be strangely fitting. And if we're diving head first into 'Never gonna happen but it would be cool' Nomad from Runescape would be dope! Or the Barrow's Borthers!

  • ... how can you guys not read it? He used plain words.

He's complaining about match making (Like everyone else), the Death Slinger nerf and about the developer's seemingly prioritizing cosmetic updates over gameplay balance or match making improvements.

  • Rank doesn't match make you, after a few losses your MMR should fall back into the 'completely random opponents' zone.

Unless you are one of the hundreds of people with the 'loose but MMR somehow never goes down' bug.

Wow the hacker situation was WORSE with it off?? Interesting…

Well yeah, it takes significantly less effort to mod the PC version of a game over a console port. This is the case in almost any game. Look how many mods and cheats there are for Java Minecraft compared to bedrock. (Granted in that case its in-part due to Java being an easier langauge to understand than C++) but the point stands.

  • Not exactly a 1 to 1 cpmparasin. To deal with totems your side only needs to designate 1 or 2 of your combined 16 perk slots. We would have to set aside 1 of our total 4 slots.

That said boil over is really only effective on maps with a strong central structure that has verticality and the map is small enough that you can resonably get to it every time. Its one of thoes 'use with a map offering' perks imo on the same level as head on... super annoying when it does cost you a play, but the coordination and planning required means it will rarely happen.

  • For some reason people think its for children... so I guess 'It' is also for kids since the horror villain takes the form of a clown...

Some people also don't understand how time works, thinking all fandoms exist in a timeless vacuum where the fans never age. They don't realize 8 years have passed.

Then you are absurdly lucky or are playing at a very different MMR, possibly even a different region to myself.

I can tell you, as a fact, around half my games as killer have at least one of the following:

    • Someone rage DCing.
    • Someone lurking in the gates to teabag or act the fool.
    • Someone teabagging or spamming their flashlight to be annoying.
    • Someone being a jerk in postgame.

Different region maybe. Because i'm of the camp that MMR has no effect what so ever on match making unless its extremely high or low.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2778671#Comment_2778671

    That means NOTHING.

that is based off of YOUR experience, over a small sample size.

Let's say a match takes around 10 minutes. 50 matches would give you around 8 hours and 20 minutes of gameplay that you are making this incredibly massive generalization off of.

How dare you say that the game as a whole, that has millions of players, hundreds of thousands of them having upwards of 1000 hours put into this game, isn't toxic based off the results of only 50 matches?

And your advice when people are toxic is to just "be happy"? That's really not how it works. It's actually pretty hard to ignore someone who WANTS your attention and WANTS you to feel bad. It's not such a problem if you don't play a ton, but it really does add up over time, especially over a single long play session.

Over 50 games my luck should have evened out... I can admit maybe I can get lucky for 5 games or 10 games even... but if the community is as bad as people say, then then chances of over 50 in a row is EXTREMELY low.

Many people say its more than half... but lets pretend its exactly half. Exactly half of matches people will send toxic insults in the EGC.

Well if that were the case, if it were exactly half, then the odds of 53 games in a row where I did not receive any would be less than 1 in 1 quadrillion. in number form that looks like this 1/1,000,000,000,000,000 again thats the odds if exactly half of matches have at least 1 person being toxic. Yet people claim its higher than half.

Now you are with in your right to say 1% is the limit or 2.5% is the maximum toxicity or maybe you want less than .1% of a community to be toxic... but over 50 matches in a row demonstrably proves it cannot be close to 50% and I can tell you from knowing human nature no community will be 0%

  • "but unfortunately the bad always leaves a deeper impression."

and THAT is the handicap you all need to overcome! Once you count them the same you will enjoy the game so much more! Once you realize 1=1.

I know this is hard... its human nature to over-value the negitives and under-value the positives but you CAN learn to rig yourself of this limitation!

  • Two possibilities!

    1. You all over exaggerate how often people are Toxic.
    2. I need to play the freaking lottery because I am impossibly lucky. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3lAdRraooY

No that's not true. It's so bad that I have a three strike rule. I have had weeks where I only play 3 matches a night because of the toxic play. You are simply mad, most likely, because you are one of the toxic players.

Encouraging positivity is toxic? I even recorded a video of OVER 50 end game chats that proves most games players don't even say anything...

NO! If the hacker wants to DEFINITELY dont! They only do it because they know much of the players are too spineless to contest them. If enough people stop giving in they'll give up.

  • @SunsetSherbet said:

Did it near 2 months ago and have been far happier. It's pretty clear at this point that the only thing that will get the devs to fix killer is if the game literally stops functioning because the killer playerbase is extinct.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2778630#Comment_2778630

lol 1 per 100. Mate, every single game I play I see at least 1 survivor that is toxic, usually multiple. Every single game. A lot of it I have recorded, too, since I stream the game pretty much any time I actually do still play. I entirely stopped playing killer largely due to toxicity from survivors and how it was basically every game. If you don't 4k, you get taunted. Every. Single. Game. People ask why killers are "so sweaty for the 4k" it's because if even one survives, they will taunt and try to basically take your feeling of victory away, so killers feel they have to 4k so the one dude who escape doesn't get to rain on their parade and make them feel terrible despite 3k-ing or something. Meanwhile, I can't tell you the last time a killer repeatedly hit me on the hook or told me to kill myself in post game or blocked me in a corner. Denying the games toxicity problem doesn't help, nor does defending it as the community so often does.

No... its not every game. You simply refuse to remember the times its not.

  • @MarkHenry868 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2778630#Comment_2778630

Yeah the toxic players way outnumber the non-toxic ones friend. It's the new norm. This game is doomed if there's nothing done about it.

This is faluse, you simply are not counting the non-toxic players. You play 5 or 6 games where no one is toxic and don't count the 20+ players in them... then have 1 game where 1 player is toxic and only count that.

You are forcing yourself to have a bad time. Stop equating 1 bad game to 9 good games. It only SEEMS like there are more toxic players because when you see a toxic player your mind goes +10 but when you see a non toxic player your mind goes +0.1

If you count both as +1 the non toxic VASTLY out number the toxic and you know this in the logical part of your mind.

  • The 1 Toxic player per every 100+ non-toxic will never make me want to quit no matter how many trolls in comment seconts wil lie and say there are more than there are.

  • Why do you 'have' to dodge? What happens when you loose? Asside from well... almost nothing....

also you should NEVER DC It is never the right choice.

If you care about points: A DC is always 0, playing is always more.

If you care about grades: A DC is always -2 pips and a bad loss is -1

If you care about winning: A DC is always 0%, playing is always higher than 0%

So no matter what DCing is a bad call.

It's a real problem in my last 15 games I've had 13 4 man outs 1 3 man and 1 2k yet I'm still facing full meta really good survivors. I've lose 275 mmr yet haven't seen a difference in survivors except for the 2k it was baby's that I had 1k and like 7 hooks at 5 gens and the other survivor killed themselves on hook so I felt bad and let 2 escape.

Or so you assume. As you cannot see your MMR. Unless you mean to confess using a hack client on the forums.

But yes, a LOT of people have this bug it would seem.

    OR

    MMR means nothing.

  • Sometimes when I get like 5 hook states against a really hard team I go 'Awe, the Entity can go suck a lemon! I did fine!'

  • I share the sentiment that MS should interact with Scourge Hook perks, applying the effects to basement hooks as well as 4 random hooks, in addition to the effect it already has.

  • You made a typo in your post. You mean to say 'Thoes four in particular' To making a blanket statement on survivors based on that would obviously be hilariously silly thing to do.

  • Despite being a killer main I've only encountered the perk once since it was changed. It was annoying but even with a body block they did not wiggle out.

‹ 1 2 3 … 5
