"the DC penalty now decays based on matches played out without DCing, rather than time. This is how other games do it, and it seems to work better."

How are you supposed to play matches to decay your penalty, when the penalty PREVENTS you from playing a game?

    You wait it out.

Then you play a game out.

Then you play another game out.

If you aren't DCing frequently or deliberately, you won't have an issue. If you are, then you are an issue.

DCs should be rare - the occasional 'cat attempted to eat my router' or 'I got walled in by a griefer/trapped in a game by a hacker' moments don't happen often.

As things stand, the DC penalty is a joke. You get 2, maybe 3 'free' DCs every day, before the penalty becomes at all impactful - and it really shows.

    More trap-based killers!

I love Trapper and I like Hag conceptually, I'd love to have more killers that are based around setting up and coralling survivors in a particular way. In the current state of the game, they'd probably have to have more going on in their kit than just that, but so long as it's there I'd be happy.

I love trappers. I love playing trappers, and I love playing against them. But man, do others seem to feel differently...

Maybe some sort of plant based killer?

Second match I played fairly hooking everyone twice before started sacrificing but unfortunately david bleed out on the ground as last person just hid somewhere. I ended up getting 11 hooks and maxed sacrifice category still. But for now I give up this challenge. These matches just were enough hard without any reward.

    @GoodBoyKaru said:

"survivor moris" and that's where you went wrong. You need 9 hooks, 4 kills, and each individual survivor hooked at least once.

By the scoreboard, you got at maximum 8 hooks, as all 4 survivors were morid. This means no iridescent devout.

It literally says so on the emblem.

It's a very annoying medal to max, as it depends more on the survivors not being schmucks than you.

Essentially - if anyone rage DCs, suicides or hangs on the hook for more than 1 state, you're not getting this at higher grades. It's generally the medal I have the most trouble maxing out.

  • @KateMain86 said:

Well this certainly is a first for me. You sure do get some interesting matches when you turn cross play off. So I got into a match against the Artist and early on she gives the hint that they're farming. Ok. Boring match time but I've played this game long enough to never trust the killer. I focused on doing my totem challenge from the tome and worked on gens while the killer did their thing with the other survivors. They also hooked me twice and after that I was ready to move on. So the doors get powered and I open the exit gate and run out while the rest of the team stays behind and farms with the killer for the remainder of the collapse time. When the match was over, the killer seemed pretty upset that I opened the door and left. I honestly felt like everyone got their "farm" in even though I was more interested in actually playing. Well, the killer let me know that the next time they see me in a match I was going to be focused out for not farming. I told them I was sorry for not doing more but I felt like I stayed long enough in the match and I wanted to go. They went on and talked about how I "disrespected my team" for not helping them get more points too. I didn't know I was obligated to do that? Well I figured I probably wouldn't see them again so I didn't think much of it and moved on.

Then, the next match happened! It was short and sweet. Surprisingly enough it was the same survivor team and the same killer from the previous match. This time they played the cannibal with a mori and quickly found me in the match. I ran to a locker to avoid the chainsaw to which they stood there and tried to fake me out of the locker (they knew I had head on). After a couple minutes and a mistimed head on play, the killer got me on a hook and proceeded to hit me over and over again, letting me know it was them from the previous match even though I already assumed it was them. The killer ignored the other survivors and let one of them pull me off the hook after I went into 2nd stage so they could get the mori on me. I don't appreciate being singled out and threatened for not doing what the killer wanted me to do, which in this case was farm for their benefit, so a 5 minute leaver penalty didn't seem like a bad idea at the time. After the match the killer said "thats what you get, toxic time." Letting me know for sure it was them (same name too) and that I got what I deserved for playing the game like you're supposed to. I never thought I'd be considered toxic for not farming with the killer. 😂

Anyway, has anyone else ever had something crazy like this happen where the killer (or survivors) got upset with you for not playing the game like they wanted you to? Story time if you have any to share!

That sucks - yeah, there are a lot of very nasty people that play this game, sadly.

I generally don't farm. What I'll do is just play in a way that reasonably ensures everyone gets a good amount of BP.

this is the most toxic build i can think of. how can you even ever do gens? so much stuff to prevent any progress being done.

idk if having my name is ok idk how to edit names out but ya i change it daily so i doubt it matters tbh.

the add ons where all his pink ones but i ran out so ignore them.

his kit hurts survs gen progress so this build just makes it even more toxic since i can just roll them to 4k so fast since they can not win since no gens can get done.

i did replace tinker with jolt since tink is kind of useless since its info and jolt hurts if you get to use it. tink is useless in chases so i kind of hate it for that reason.

Hi there! I play a lot of Pinhead and this build is...fine, bordering on 'meh'.

What perks do you have available? Let me see if I can cobble something better together for you.

These days, if I'm feeling a sweaty SWF coming on, I tend to use:

    Pain Resonance (Artist perk)

Floods of Rage (Onryo perk) OR Agitation (Trapper perk) OR Dead Man's Switch (Deathslinger perk)

    Plaything (Cenobite perk)

    Pentimento (Artist perk)

This combination is pure evil. The box, plus Plaything, plus DMS slows the game to a crawl. Then factor in additional side objectives from Penti and all but the best groups start making mistakes.

The DMS version is good, but I'm starting to get 'meh' on DMS. Agitation is incredible - nearly guaranteeing you PR hooks. Floods of Rage is great too.

    Other good perks to incorporate:

    • Hoarder (Twins). It shows you when someone picks up the box, which - even if you only succeed in stealing once - can win you a game right there.
    • Discordance (Legion). Among the best info perks in the game.

Surge is fine on him - I find that it's only really good on killers that can either constantly injure (Wraith) or instadown M1 killers (Ghostface, Myers).

Me? Interesting. What was my profile called, if you don't mind me asking - because it's not the same as my forum name.

No idea what you mean by internet, as my ping never goes above 50ms, and I'm not playing from anywhere weird.

The only time I get wonky stuff is when I play early morning, and get put up against a lot of Chinese players for some reason - and they tend to be 200-400ms.

I just commented on your other post. Been play solo survivor all day. Only had 2 teammates DC but more than 7 killers have DC'd today. I think it's players on both sides wanting to get challenges done, if they don't think they'll be able to they quit and hope next match they will.

    Yeah, it's been rough.

I've played maybe a dozen games and earned slightly less than that.

5 of those have had 2-3 almost immediate DCs.

3 of those have had people either kill themselves on the hook, or play hide and seek around the map.

This could just be me but am wondering if anyone else thinks like this:

I have most of my characters lvl50 and over half p3 50. I do want to 100% all characters.

The reason I WONT be playing too much this Bloodhunt is because of the Anniversary Event.

If I get everything P3 50 now it will make it harder for me to get the offerings we all expect will be required for the event.

And we know the event BP will be better than the Bloodhunt...

So, my min/max brain is telling me to skip the Bloodhunt in favour of the Anniversary Event for maximum gains...

    Anyone else?

Nah, I'm going to do both.

I have no interest in prestiging, but this lets me max out Trapper, Oni and Slinger, the killers I've yet to unlock all perks on and stockpile a bunch of medkits and addons.

  • @Laluzi said:

Man, what kind of mindset do you need to have to see the killer bring party streamers (which only benefits the survivor compared to the killer bringing pudding, as killers have no teammates to share bloodpoint bonuses with) and go "hurr durr let's all DC so they don't get anything?"

Like I don't have trouble believing this; this game is littered with people who would cheerfully shoot themselves in the foot in order to be able to express their frothing spite towards the other players. But seriously, that's bonkers.

I've had 3 groups like this today, out of 9 games. 2 were mass DCs, one was a 'hide and seek' group.

    Very, very irritating.

I prefer farming during a bloodhunt over sweaty actual matches tbh. This way I can have fun and get BP. Instead of getting less BP and having an unfun, sweat filled game.

I don't farm so much as I attempt to give people a chance to earn BP for themselves. Once I have the game under control, I'll often injure and leave them, or drop people near gens etc. It usually works out pretty well, in that we'll all max our BP but it won't be standing around farming.

I consider spiting themselves to deny you BP a very worthy screenshot. Like I said, I don't like anecdotes unless they at least come with 2FA :(

Eh, and again I actually tried to screencap it (the BM at the end, combined with the 3x DCs) but fouled it when I used Snip and got a tiny piece of screen, overwriting the rest.

And you are free to like or not like whatever you want - fortunately, reality does not depend on your belief or disbelief.

Also - this is a silly argument to be having, and I'm going to call it here.

This thread. People love to spread hearsay, I try to trust OPs because it takes a lot of maliciousness to deliberately lie on a thread, but I like engaging on threads where the screenshots are actually posted because than the evidence is in everyone's faces and it's a lot harder to be a denier.

Case in point, that survivor hostage holding thread with an absurdly long sped up video showing the lengths the survivors went to to be trolls.

Well, it's an anecdote, not a thesis. I can only say what I've experienced and seen with my own two eyes.

I don't, as a habit, record or screencap every game I have just in case someone is being a butt gerbil in an entertaining or annoying way.

We know they’re the bane of your existence. They make games not fun. Would you prefer to not deal with them if it means longer Que times but more chill games with solo Que players?

Would you rather take that chance of the game “dying” for more fairer games, if it means you don’t have to deal with the headaches of SWF’s anymore? The four DH’s, DS’, and flashlights with the clickety clicks and teabags? Would it be worth it to role the dice?

They could still play KWF- they just need to find a fifth. Then the 5 of them could take turns playing killer, abiding by the unwritten entitled rules, then see for themselves how unrealistic having fun as a killer is when dealing with a SWF. They’ll see what it was like to be in your shoes. Wouldn’t that be nice?

So the devs plans are to “bring solo Que survivors to the level of SWF’s.” Is that what you guys want? Are you really going to find SWF’s 1.5 in the form of buffed solo Ques fun?

No, because people will just go back to 'everyone ready at the same time and we'll lobby shop until we get matched together' shenanigans.

Buff solo queue, buff killers and we'll take it from there.

It is a mori. With no 2-hook-requirement. This shouldnt be happening all the time

    Yes and no.

She needs help elsewhere, for sure - her stealth, for instance, may as well not exist and why the hell does she need a lullaby?

However, Condemn needs some changes. As it stands, unless you're playing against complete cucumbers, it should never become a threat and if it does, it's super easy to get rid of.

The issue is that an instant mori is just too strong to be allowed to happen often. It should be something you gain much faster, forcing you to interact with tapes more - and if it reaches maximum, you get KI'd and Exposed, with a mori on the final hook - PH style.

As a whole, Sadako is among the worst killers ever released. Not a single part of her kit is that impactful, or has much synergy. It feels like Dredge is everything she was supposed to be.

    Yes.

It's one of those 'condom' perks - in that it's better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.

I used it, combined with CoH and Shadowstep for a bit - and it's incredible against Twins, or the occasional (horrible) Knockout Ghostface.

  • @KerJuice said:

######### that. Remove SWF. They’re the ones ######### up the game. Player count is going down any way, so ######### it. I think the game can bounce back after taking a dive. Killers will be MUCH happier and solo Que players don’t have to be worried about being used as bait/a pawn for 3 man SWF’s. It’s the SWF’s who abuse the hell out of DH.

    Nah.

People want to play with their friends - and they'll always find a way. Before SWF it was done via lobby shopping.

The major issue is that SWF is treated by the matchmaker as if it were 4 solos queued together, when it should - like most games - artificially inflate their MMR so they get matched against a better opponent, to offset the benefits that SWF provides.

Sure, I've had some cranky responses from killers but never the type of stuff I get from survivors such as calling me the r word or telling me to end myself, etc,etc...

Whats just not true. Just because you cant win consistent with a low tier killer doesnt mean theyre trash. Its just the need to learn how to use them correctly would take too much time for those people. Otherwise nobody with an average gamesense would say something like this.

Oh hello there again, Tiufal. Friendly as always, I see.

    Here's the thing.

I can't think of a single player that can, for instance, win consistently with Onryo. Not a one. You can go and watch Otz's attempts at streaks on her if you want to see what this looks like from the killer's side.

But okay - let's assume you're absolute world class and can constantly 4k with Onryo. You'd still be leagues better off with Nurse, Blight or Huntress, or even 'good' killers like Nemesis, Pyramid Head or Oni.

The delta between high tier killers and low tier killers is too big. A handful of S tier killers need a bit of reigning in (Nurse just need a complete redesign, Blight needs some addons toned down a little) and about 10 killers need either a solid buff to their kit (Pig, Wraith), a rework of their addons (Freddy) or both (Onryo, Trickster).

    Midwich, yeah.

Lery's can be a nightmare, depending on how stuff spawns. I've had near-infinites on that map, near the office. It is a blast as spoopy Myers though.

Saloon is all well and good until you get an SWF that knows how to run you around the main building.

Shelter woods can be the most killer sided map in the game, or you can have 4 jungle gyms spawn right next to each other and form a literal infinite.

RPD can get bent. Horrible map, whether I'm playing on survivor or killer. Looking forward to the remake.

You've completely misunderstood this. All Mandy said is that Sadako wouldn't receive kneejerk changes the mid-chapter after her release.

That has literally been their practice for I believe the last two years or so. No killer will receive major changes just 6 weeks after their release. The devs generally gather data for a few months after a killer's release, before they decide on making any major changes, if at all. You can see this practice in effect since at least Trickster, maybe even earlier, I'm not quite sure when they started this.

    • Trickster released with 4.6, received changes in 5.1 (3 major patches later)
    • Nemesis released with 5.0, received changes in 5.2 (2 major patches later)
    • Cenobite released with 5.2, received changes in 5.4 (2 major patches later)

The Artist hasn't received changes yet, but that could be because the devs don't deem any necessary or the Ghost Face / Legion reworks took priority. Going by this, and seen as Sadako hasn't gotten anything for 6.0, the soonest she can receive any changes is in 6.1

    I'm still not hopeful.

They knew she was a in a rough state after the PTR - there was a ton of feedback. They gave her a tiny buff and released her.

Evidently, she wasn't a big priority, and I doubt that will change going forward.

If we're lucky, we'll see some changes to her...perhaps in 2023. And, looking at Pig, it could be as petty as 'hey, we moved some addons around and slightly buffed those three that you will still never use' or an actual, Twins style nerf - 'hey, we nerfed that one brown addon everyone uses (my bets on Newspaper) because it was used more than her other addons'.

    How do I know?

    Trickster and Wraith.

Both of these killers have very low kill rates compared to others, and that's taking into account how strong they are against newbies. And yet - Wraith got nerfed, Trickster languishes.

I'm hoping to be proven wrong, but not optimistic.

  • @gnehehe said:

There are 2 obvious reasons about the high percentage of self-care perks, even in mid-to-high MMR levels:

    1) hackers, with high escape rates, often use it for 0.1s healing

    2) the number of solo-Q players is higher than most people think (esp, the players that mostly play on the killer side: they tend to see "4-man optimal bully squads swf on discord" everywhere in post-game chat); solo-Q players often use SC to have plan B if they are matched with moron teammates

    Here's the thing about SWFs.

Not every game is an SWF, but there are a lot of them.

Facing even a bad SWF can be difficult, as the information sharing, perk and addon coordination and general communications can be a huge benefit, and there's also a tendency for SWFs to send you to Badham, with 3 further hook offerings, stacked meta perks and 4x Brand New Parts - then tell you to uninstall in postgame.

These matches tend to stick with you.

To be fair though, from the other end there are far more 'wait, my hatchet literally passed through them, how was that not a hit?' moments for Huntress.

    Latency is a fickle mistress.

Gonna need a bit more context on this one, chief.

Was it a slug for the 4k?

Did they lose you when you crawled away?

Was it a trolling killer just to waste your time?

    Twins?

    Yeah, it's tricky.

Sometimes, you'll need to slug. Midwich, RPD, Lery's sometimes, a couple Swamp maps and Eyrie all have situations where a single killed survivor or sabo makes an area of the map literally unhookable. If you run there, you're getting slugged. Yes, it sucks to play against - but blame the map design, not me playing the game as intended.

Some killers are designed around slugging. Twins is the biggie. Again, not the fault of people playing Twins as intended.

Some killers do it to attempt to secure a 4k, and that's another design issue which will hopefully be fixed with the rework.

Some killers do it to be nasty (pray you never face the Knockout Ghostface...).

  • @BenZ0 said:

For me it is when survivors that block you completely after getting unhooked to take a BT hit and if you go tunnel them then they DC or insult you for tunneling.

Or the fact that Blight has 6 fingers.

Just the general behavior of the people in the game.

You can be the nicest, most fair killer in the game and you'll get teabagged and flicky flicky'd in the exit gates.

You can be a completely fair, polite survivor and get slugged with Knockout at 5 gens.

Face-camping referred to the killer blocking the hook by camping it. Now survivors can unhook from many angles.

What we have now is just camping (minus the fishing pole and the tent).

    Source?

Because, as I don't think we have a Dead by Daylight dictionary, definitions are common usage - and common usage here is standing by the hook to attempt to grab/instadown people coming for a rescue.

I don’t understand the logic on this one and I hope someone, perhaps a dev, can explain it to me. Why nerf boons totally into the ground and then give a free perk to destroy them permanently when the perk is so easily detectable? I literally see nobody using boons, except the 1 out of 10 matches you might see Circle of Healing. The one time I remember seeing the perk, I didn't even run across the map to find it because it is such a waste of time.

Do devs literally listen to everything and do everything killers want with total disregard to balance and normal thought processes?

And now to the Dredge.  He is overpowered and if he doesn’t get nerfs survivors will not have a chance to win unless the player using him is braindead.  He has powerful map pressure with instant teleporting across the map to any locker, and he has anti-loop. I repeat…this is NOT balanced!

We desperately need to get away from this thinking that killer is only fun if they can squash the survivors with no chance at all for them to win.

If we are going to start having anti-loop, all-knowing, all-map pressure “monsters” in the game, survivors NEED more than a singular pallet in the middle of a field. I am going to go out on the limb and say we need to start looking at more tools for survivors to defend against the monster. We need to get real, if monsters are in the game, we need guns or knives, something that can stall the killer.

Either provide survivors more abilities to fend off the killer or stop with the anti-loop, all-knowing, everywhere map pressure killers.

Disclaimer: I play and have played both sides.

    Why do survivors need boons?

    Same answer.

It's not Self Care it's CoH. It is more likely in my opinion that BHVR reused code from Self Care to make CoH and the data is catching that than high MMR players running Self Care in numbers compatible with DH.

I'm not sure if I'm 'high MMR', but I see it frequently.

I think it's mostly a pragmatic thing. If you aren't playing with people, it's nice to have a degree of self sufficiency.

I understand Billy and Oni, but Clown? There's no way you aren't even slightly amused when you, a fat, burping, farting geriatric Clown kill a 4 man Swf.

I guess when I think 'scary clown', I'm after a tall, skinny Terrifier or Pennywise - not a murder hobo.

  • @JonahsTablet said:

The fact that you put Kazan, Billy, and Clown in the bottom tiers is a sin.

Oni feels like a slog sometimes. Billy...just don't enjoy his style, especially on indoor maps. Clown - both his visuals and audio are bleh.

Is this list upside down or something?

Each to their own, I guess.

So we saw what we will get with new chapter. Are you gonna main them?

Dredge - He looks fun, i will give chance him but i doubt he will dethrone Sadako for me.

Haddie - She is new Nea. I don't like Nea, i won't love Haddie either.

I really don't care all that much about survivor skins, I have a handful that I like and that's it.

The killer...yeah, visually I'm not a fan (he looks like an evil sea cucumber) and unless I'm mistaken, his perks are meh - but mechanically he's sort of what I hoped Sadako would be like.

I've seen that there are lots of killers that the killer mains apparently refuse to play. Here is my Top 5 list of Killers who I haven't seen in a long, LONG time in my matches as a survivor:

    1. Hag
    2. Billy
    3. Demogorgon
    4. Twins
    5. Plague

I see the odd Hag and Billy.

I see the occasional Twins now, likely due to the archive. Very annoying killer to face as it's insanely hard to pip against them.

    For me:

    • Artist. I've seen one in maybe the last two weeks.
    • Onryo. One this week, AFK.
    • Deathslinger. Another I've seen one of in recent memory.
    • Demogorgon. Doesn't exist.
    • Weirdly, Blight. I literally haven't seen a Blight in a week.
    • Trapper.

On the other hand, I see oodles of Nurses, Huntresses, Legions, Nemesis...eses and quite a few Doctors, Tricksters, Bubbas (argh) and Ghostfaces.

Every other team game has it, and has a mute button. I think its a necessary evil that needs to be added to make the game easier to balance. I would rather just not have SWF at all for how the game was originally intended, but we are way beyond that at this point. So I would rather just give everyone the option for voice chat. Keyword OPTION.

And most of them may as well not have it - because 2 in 4 people simply have it disabled, 1 in 4 use it properly and 1 in 4 is the reason the 2 in 4 have it disabled. Plus, DbD has weird servers - I routinely get paired with people from Chile, Mexico, China, Korea, Japan and similar.

On the other hand, pings and emotes are pretty universal.

Hag in the top tier is...intriguing, to say the least. Anyway, here's my list.

Side note- Blight is kinda a special case. He's the most fun when I'm doing well as him, but he's incredibly tilting when I can't get it working. It's not even the skill of the survivors I'm going against, it's just that I am incredibly inconsistent with him.

Hag was my first main - I just love her more tactical style. Easily among my favorite killers to this day.

Blight...yeah. Some maps I can rock the Casbah. Some maps (Eyrie...oh hell) are just awful.

    @MikaelaWantsYourBoon said:

    Artist and Hag S tier?

Sadako and Nurse are low tiers...

    We definitely have different tastes.

Artist and Hag are both very tactical killers, which suits me. Demo is just endless fun.

Sadako...urgh. I like her design in theory, it just feels like barely any part of her kit has synergy or has a meaningful impact on the game.

Nurse - I don't mind playing, but I find that playing a lot of Nurse makes me worse at other killers.

  • @IlliterateGenocide said:

    Hag

They are just extremely boring to play, and play against.

    @Mat_Sella said:

Hag, i both forget they exist and would never want to play against or as them.

Yeah, I know why people don't enjoy playing her (or against her), but I rather enjoy both. She was my first main, and I just love her versatile she is.

The only reason I sometimes don't enjoy playing against her is because other Hags love to put traps around the hook, and survivors seldom know how to counter it. If people know what they are doing, I enjoy facing her - it's so different.

    @Laluzi said:

Nurse is the absolute worst for me. It's a combination of stressful and disorienting. I feel like I'm fighting the game to get anywhere and staring at the ground after every blink is just horrible.

I can't stand playing Twins. I dislike slugging to begin with and having to walk across the map to pick people up drives me nuts. Everything feels so slow.

I dislike Huntress because I can't aim for beans. Never been good at any precision ranged playstyle on any videogame; spray and pay is the best I can do. She's a great killer, but she's just not for me.

Spirit's not my cup of tea because lacking visuals is pretty disorienting.

Nurse grew on me, but I have to avoid playing her too much - as it feels like she makes me worse on other killers.

Twins...yeah, I don't mind playing them, but they are so clunky.

Huntress...I enjoy playing, but she's so crazily overplayed that it definitely puts me off.

Spirit is another killer that really grew on me the better I got with her. So much of what I hoped Onryo would be is already a Spirit thing.

So a look through the potential most used perks being changed it got me thinking of the actual healthy perks. Note some of these potential changes may be a change to base kit or may receive no changes at all.

On the survivor end BT, UB and DS are definitely solid perks that counter certain playstyles. Healthy to prevent four man slugs, immediately tunneling off hook and punishing if they continue to do so.

On the killer side: BBQ, Pop Goes the Weasle, Jolt and Pain Resonance are perks that encourages leaving the hook and/or rewarding the killer for getting a down.

What are some of the healthy perks you are anxious will get changed?

BBQ, naturally, as it promotes not tunneling one person immediately.

Otherwise...hmm, that's actually an interesting question.

    Perks is easy. Meta perks...

    For killer:

Pain Resonance. It has play, counterplay, it's strong but not obscenely so and has some interesting risk/reward decision making.

Save The Best For Last. See above.

    For survivor:

Lithe and Sprint Burst. Much for the same reasons.

We're Gonna Live Forever - gets survivors off gens and into the fight.

    @Tiufal said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/324805/meta-perks-that-are-actually-healthy

Those survivor perks are band aid fixes for some stupid gameflaws. How is that healthy at all?

Not trying to be nasty, but you really, really do seem to hate this game - both from your conduct in that Otz video and your posts on the forum. I get wanting to improve something you like, but after a while - why not find something that makes you happier?
