The least they can do is disable the problematic perks, they're flatout toxic and create immense frustration. Killers don't get enough bloodpoints, infact I only make as much as any of the survivors on average during my trials. I don't see how this could compensate me appropriately for the psychological trauma I have to endure during these matches.

I don't see how immediate changes could end up in a situation like with Boil Over - I'm asking for nerfs, not for buffs.

    Okay, let me clarify.

Right now, a huge amount of the game balance depends on DH at higher MMRs. There aren't many other perks that really offer a defense against Nurse, for instance. You can't yank DH without nerfing Nurse and Blight.

CoH - wouldn't mind seeing it go away, but meh.

BP wise - no, I disagree completely. I play about equal parts survivor/killer (probably leaning a bit more towards survivor at present, as it takes me longer to get to Iri 1) and, at best, I'm earning maybe 65% of the BP that I do on killer, potentially less - there are some survivor games where you earn basically nothing due to the fact that you are downed first and then camped to death.

  • I know what you're saying, but things are a house of cards right now - you can't just yank stuff willy nilly.

Killers already get a hefty BP bonus.

As for the rest...I doubt whether it'll be six months. But as welcome as some of these changes sound, it's also not something you want to rush - unless you want Boil Over 3.0.

The community seems to agree that Dredge's teleportation powers are similar to Sadako's. Most importantly that they're even better than hers. Having more access to places to teleport and create mindgames with, Sadako only has condemned to compensate for it. But even condemned is underwhelming along with the rest of how she's built (Lullaby, gimmicky stealth power, and long cooldowns)

There's no purpose in playing her anymore. What are your guys' suggestions on how to buff Sadako?

    • Remove her lullaby.
    • Bake Clump of Hair and Newspaper in baseline.
    • Condemn is gained gradually while within the radius of any active television.

Well this is where we're fundamentally going to disagree. I don't find that to be a "problem" at all. Taking the hit for your unhooker while you have endurance from BT is just the smart play to get away from the killer at the hook.

In these instances, I'd just continue after the person who has BT and slug them. If you want to use your endurance to body block, then you can't accuse me of tunneling.

Yeah, we aren't going to see eye to eye on this one.

  • @Viskod said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2958128#Comment_2958128

Body block "really aggressively" as in being able to take literally 1 hit for your unhooker? What's wrong with that? That's one of the benefits of the Perk and not a game changer for the killer at all.

I know its annoying trying to defend a hook when the gates are open and the unhooking survivors are going to have borrowed time, but the gates are open man, you've lost.

    Yes, that's the problem.

One bodyblock at a crucial time can completely turn the game, or convert a 2k into a 1k or a 1k into a 0k.

The endgame should matter more for survivors, and BT negates that.

I get why BT is needed, but if it's going to become basekit or what-have-you, it's going to need a look.

  • @Viskod said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2958033#Comment_2958033

If they can set off "all your traps" in 10 seconds from being off a hook then you're placing too many traps around a hook.

Really. Using Borrowed Time "offensively" ? This is not a thing.

Hyperbole is a type of figurative speech that adds emphasis. Browse these hyperbole examples to better understand what it is and how it works in writing.

    Yes, using it offensively.

Let's say I'm on Trapper, and have 2 key traps around Shack. BT let's you burrow straight through one. It's even nastier on Hag.

More commonly though, it's used to body block really aggressively.

    @Viskod said:

I'd love for it to just be a normal thing that you get 100% BP Bonus for hooking everyone once.

Then I can finally stop wasting a Perk Slot on this annoying ass Perk.

This, exactly. Do the same for survivors.

  • @Viskod said:

As a killer I don't have a problem with Borrowed Time, Decisive Strike, Dead Hard, or Unbreakable.

I think Borrowed Time is pretty much a necessity and should just be a normal mechanic that you can't be immediately downed again right off a hook.

Decisive Strike is fine with me because most people that take it want to use it and will deliberately run around doing nothing for a minute trying to trick you into grabbing them from a locker or picking them up again.

If I leave someone on the ground long enough for Unbreakable to to be used, then good for them. That's the point of the perk.

I think everything about Dead Hard is overblown. Too many survivors think of it as their mandatory saving grace when they have no ######### clue how to use it and any one of a number of other perks would be far more useful to them than Dead Hard.

BT is only a problem when survivors use it offensively - running around setting off all my traps, for example.

    DS is similar.

DH is a gigantic pain in the pants though.

I hope BHVR recognizes that camping and tunneling isn’t just because of generator speeds, and it’s also because of how powerful hiding is in the game.

One of the biggest advantages of SWFs with voice comms is people telling each other where the killer is, to make it easier to hide from the killer. And one of the most powerful things a survivor can do is hide near a generator where a killer is patrolling by, then trying to repair and finish the generator before the killer makes another complete patrol of the map.

One of the biggest reasons I often proxy camp is because it’s too risky to go too far from a hooked survivor. There’s no guarantee I’d find anyone if they were hiding, so it’s often a better play to be somewhat near a hooked survivor, because at least I know where that survivor is.

If changes are going to be made to encourage killers to interact with multiple survivors instead of just camping one survivor at a time, then there needs to be an equal amount of encouragement for all the survivors to interact with the killer, instead of trying to hide or avoid the killer for extended periods of time.

Gen speeds are another thing though - killers don't run double regression because it's especially fun, killers run double regression because it sucks to have a rough first chase on Badham and suddenly lose 4 gens.

Honestly with the upcoming progression overhaul that may not be necessary.

The progression overhaul is going to reward people who already have a lot of time invested, but I'm not convinced that it'll help new players out all that much.

I am trying to think of a game where premium currency can be earned during play and is also earned as slowly as it is through DBD.

I cannot think of one. I'm not supporting actually grinding for that currency, but the amount of time it takes is still ridiculous.

"Each prestige level 3 character on your account at the time of the update will receive a distinct reward, with specifics to be unveiled a little further down the line."

I strongly feel this should NOT be done.

But there should absolutley not be any kind of "distinct" or exclusive reward, like the old Legacy Prestige.

And I'm saying this as somebody who has the majority of the game's total roster at Prestige 3.

Time-limited stuff is dumb. Players should not be punished for simply not having enough playtime invested than others, which is exactly what this would do.

Give Bloodpoints, give Irishards, whatever, but dont give any kind of exclusive content.

    I don't have anyone prestiged to 3.

    I disagree with this immensely.

Sadako is heavily restricted with her teleports. Lots of cooldowns prevent constant teleporting to TVs.

The Dredge has none of those restictions. Shouldn´t Sadako be buffed in that regard?

    Should? Yes.

    Will? Nope.

    @Sumnox said:

Sadako is kind of amusing. She reminds me of old Freddy. I loved old Freddy. It was so fun to play as and against. I'd say she only needs her TV powers to be slightly buffed, but she needs to keep her stealth aspect. Not every killer has to be exactly the same and be strong at chase.

    What stealth aspect?

No, not every killer needs to be the same - but every killer needs to be good. And unless they amp her stealth and mobility up substantially, she's going to continue to suck - because what makes a killer good, for the most part, is the ability to chase.

  • Yes at BBQ. If they get rid of the BP bonus without baking it in, I'm going to flip my table.

PR...as much as I love this perk, I think BHVR are looking at fiddling the regression meta slightly.

  • @MrsGhostface said:

I just main killer now. It’s easy mode. Can’t beat them? join them. They know what they’re doing and it’s working.

As someone who started learning survivor two months ago, as a longtime exclusive killer player - killer is definitely the more demanding role.

Survivor can be annoying too - especially against campers and hard sluggers with Knockout (Wraiths...it's always a Wraith for some reason), but a lot of survivor gameplay is either holding one button or holding another button, interspersed with occasional moments of terror.

There's going to be at least one perk on each end that winds up at Boil Over levels of broken.

Frankly though, the meta needs a good rattle. Just hope that they don't get rid of the BBQ BP bonus - that may actually cause me to call it a day.

SO much this. BBQ's aura reading only benefits a handful of my killers, and even then I'd probably replace it with FOR if I could. I use it for the BP.

A few raised my eyebrows, but a lot of this is very positive. I especially like the loadouts, the queue incentive (this is such a big deal to me, as I play at odd times of day) and the addition of bots (finally I can learn a new killer without getting my face caved in).

People will find ANYTHING to complain about on the survivor’s side. The killers cried until COH became useless despite the perk going threw a few changes already, DS got a hard nerf thanks to killer main complaints, and now Dead Hard is probably next on the chopping block. But wait… How can the same people complaining about all of these Single perks fail to realize the killer side has things that are probably far worse that haven’t been fixed even though they’ve been BIG issues?

    HUG TECH

    SLUGGING UNTIL BLEED OUT

    ALCHEMIST RING

    BUBBA FACECAMPING

    NOED

    TUNNELING

These are just a few I named that have been a big issue and it feels like the devs haven’t even put in an effort to address these problems.

    Sigh.

    Hi here again, Mileena.

    Let's take a look.

    1. CoH is still an absolute top tier perk. 'Useless' isn't just hyperbole, it's flat out wrong. It's just not quite as busted as it used to be.
    2. DS, before the change was ridiculous. It was basically an extra life.
    3. Dead Hard needs to go. The simple fact that this one perk almost single handedly dictates the meta from intermediate MMRs and up is an indication that it's a problem.
    4. Plenty of killer perks are getting nerfed too, including most of the better regression perks.
    5. Hug Tech isn't easy to execute or fix, as it has to do with the inner workings of the physics engine.
    6. Bleeding out is frustrating, but it will also be fixed in the patch (the game instantly ends once the last survivor is slugged). Plus, this isn't an imbalance as much as a BM.
    7. Yes, Ring needs a nerf. Patience, young padawan.
    8. They've already said that they are going to be fixing facecamping. What more do you want?
    9. NOED is likely getting a nerf in the perk overhaul.
    10. They are aware of tunnelling feeling nasty to go against, but what do you suggest? Make it so the killer has to hook survivors sequentially? I know that I almost never tunnel on purpose, but far too often I'll just end up finding that one overconfident or caseless survivor multiple times in a row.
  • @Aven_Fallen said:

Nah, this is just the DBD-Community.

You know, you dont get RPD a lot. I would guess I get the Map every 100 games. And I am fine with that, I dont really like this Map, but it is different.

But the Community is always complaining non-stop about something until it is changed. And then they hop on the next thing. Like a bunch of spoiled kids.

Or, you know, people are passionate about wanting to improve the things they like?

I get RPD far more than every 100 games. It's not as ubiquitous as Swamp or Farm, but I see it plenty - and I groan a little whenever I do.

But okay - what exactly do you have against fixing the map up? If you don't see it much, this shouldn't bother you and if you don't like it, why not improve it?

  • @Laluzi said:

...I was really buying their analysis of high level perk usage before they said Self-Care was a common perk in high MMR. Because what? Self-Care is ubiquitous at low level play, but in high level play, it's secondary levels of common at best. CoH is far more common than Self-Care.

Meta overhaul sounds deeply intriguing and I look forward to it, though I do hope they realize BBQ dominates because it offers bloodpoints more than the effect it provides.

New prestige sounds GODLY. Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. Oh my god this has been so needed. I cannot express enough just how fantastic this is. No more perk roulette on freshly levelled characters? Glorious. Granted, I was going to freak out about uncapping prestige, but then they revealed it won't reset items or perks. Whew. Don't want to lose those 111 cakes on my Plague. I think I'm not going to prestige anyone until this comes out - no point in losing my stuff when I'll be able to keep it eventually.

Wonder what's going to happen to the mori offerings? I do like the idea of a finisher mori, especially now that mori offerings are more cosmetic than anything else.

Overall, unbelievably promising first segment. A little worried about how the perk overhaul will go, but equally excited; mostly I'm hoping it focuses more on buffing undertuned perks than nerfing everything that's good.

Yup. I've been holding off on prestiging in the hopes of precisely this sort of change coming.

My big gripe is going to be the possibility of losing the bonus BP on BBQ - but fingers crossed.

  • @Aven_Fallen said:

    Quite sad.

The "I dont like this thing so I will complain about it until it is changed"-mentality won again.

It wasn't quite as one sided as Haddonfield or Badham was/is, but it just seems to be a map that rubs a lot of folks up the wrong way.

I'm really curious to see whether that'll involve changing the loops/eliminating bad or dead areas like library/adding more staircases, or if they're going to deal with the size of the map and split it into two separate maps. Either way, mega promising.

    Hopefully they split it.

It's a map that is just a misery to play on, whether I'm a survivor or a killer in that game. It's convoluted, confusing, way too big and has too much safety in some areas while no safety in others.

While it has it's issues, the new Haddonfield is a great example of an awful map being made into something pretty damn interesting.

We stared down one another until Leon crouched down and came closer. I could tell he was trying to not startle me in my nest but he was getting to close to my prize. Before I realized anything he had touched the box! I managed to grab him and hook him going back to my box before the others dared to get close. For the next fifteen minutes I hooked, slugged and even brought survivors out of my hole to keep them away. Leon however was a persistent one and demanded to be given my contents. I smacked him one more time just as he opened the box. He died before seeing what was inside...dead from blood loss or a broken soul. I kept 3 of their items using my traps to protect them but I also kept a corpse which is now in my chest.

And I don't agree with it. You say Nurse is perfect, and I say she's the most unfair and broken killer in the game.

You say CoH is better than Self Care, and I say it's not.

Though you said your opinions are facts, I'm afraid I'll continue being against those facts.

Nurse? Nurse isn't that obnoxious without some of her stronger addons. She just requires you to play a touch differently. I'd rather face a Nurse than a facecamping Bubba or a TSP Myers any day of the week.

Regardless, this isn't about Nurse. This is about you asserting that the people disagreeing with you believe something that they don't.

    @Sumnox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2955101#Comment_2955101

You do realise there isn't factual data that proves CoH is better right? You can show me date of usage, or quote your friends saying it's better. That's it. If you quote someone like Truetalent (the whiniest person in history, I played against him as well in a duo and he gave a million excuses about why he lost, as always) it will also be their opinion. The fact of the matter is, which perk is stronger is highly situational, I can show you scenarios where CoH is better, and where Self Care is better.

For me, and the kind of matches I get, Self Care is the superior choice. Do you want to use CoH? go ahead! I mean. I honestly don't care what perks you use buddy.

Also, since you seem to like my profile a lot, and you constantly bring it up, here you go again: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Sumnox/

I'm waiting for the person whose opinions are facts, to come to your aid very shortly, perhaps we should all go to discord at some point and discuss this better, since we keep derailing the thread that is about Deadhard, by the way.

Well, duh. There isn't data on perks versus win rates that we have access to. Which is where common sense and consensus comes into play.

And...what? Dude, you've been the one sidetracking this conversation from the beginning. You don't get to crap on the floor and then complain about the smell.

Yes, that's what an opinion means. But you can have a good opinion (one supported by both the opinions of experts and common sense argument) and a bad opinion (one supported by neither of these things - see again: Flat Earthers).

Finally, you've got this weird trend of asking people to shift venues - it really does read as an attempt to get people to reveal personal information, and comes over rather sus.

    @Sumnox said:

Do you even understand words when you see them? Why do you keep arguing with yourself about stuff you made up? For the millionth time, I'm starting to worry about you, it depends on the situation.

If CoH is already placed or there's several of them set up, then chances are the perk might be better (you still have to reposition as well)

If CoH isn't placed because you're the only one who can place it and it's not up, or it's been snuffed, or any other reason, and you need to quickly heal to make a save or run for a gate, then Self Care is going to be better.

I'm just baffled at how difficult this is to understand for you. I might be right after all and you just don't own the game LOL

By the way, have my profile again: https://steamcommunity.com/id/Sumnox/

Yes, we've seen your profile. I've already explained that hours played isn't a good metric of anything - because it's possible (note: probable) that this just means you've been wrong for a long time.

Again - it's amazing that someone with that many hours logged doesn't understand what makes CoH strong.

A badly placed CoH can be easily snuffed.

A well placed CoH is a lose/lose for the killer, as snuffing it becomes a huge time investment. RPD library, the top of the IWOM structure, the second floor of Eyrie and some spots on Midwich are good examples of this.

If the Survivor wiggles off, the Killer has to waste about 15-30 seconds again, depending on if the Survivor plays well or not. That's, 1 minute or more, which is 75% of a Generator. If wiggling off only requires 1 extra Survivor, that's 2 Generators about to pop.

If wiggling off required 2 Survivors, then only a single Generator would've been about to pop, which would be more fair, as when 2 or more Survivors decide to sabotage Hooks and take hits, the Killer can't do anything about it other than dropping the Survivor, which will lead to a quick pick up later on

I mean, someone who says this can't even own the game.

It's also interesting how you are the only one resorting to ad-homming, strawmanning and started off with a lovely bit of whataboutism - which generally suggests that you don't actually have that much faith in your own positions.

Regardless, this has been a fun game of ye olde Fallacy Bingo, but it's getting boring now.

    • It’s unlikely we’ll hear any changes on Facecamping, mainly because it’s something they’re worked on apparently on and off for a long time and never found a solution that was effective but that also didn’t break something else. But who knows, I’d love to be wrong!
    • I’ll be a bit surprised if they don’t give details on the bloodpoint revamp they’ve been working on for six months.
    • It’s also been six months since they mentioned working on new status icons for solo survivors so that seems likely too.
    • Sadako’s first full balance pass is probably next midchapter is my guess, the full chapters tend to focus more on the new killer. But again, if I’m wrong great!
    • They already implemented the backfill related MMR changes they discussed in that big blog post a month ago. One change they didn’t do yet was they said they are planning to adjust the MMR algorithm to treat survivors as an actual team for purposes of going up or down versus every survivor being treated independently. That would address the situations where one survivor sacrifices themselves to help everybody else escape but loses MMR in the process currently.

Are you sure about the backfill thing? I'm not finding any details, and I can say anecdotally that backfill still seems to produce some really Kafka games on my end.

She’s in a spot of perfect design basekit, her only problems are distance addons and three blinks.

I think they're still recruiting. You can still join their team if you hurry!

I mean, to be fair, who wouldn't want a guy whose opinions are facts, in their group?

...No, that's not what you said.

You said 'Nurse is perfect', and claimed that the people disagreeing with you believed that (as well as claiming they want to instantly win every game).

SuzuKR isn't saying anything like that. They are saying that Nurse's basekit is perfectly fine, but her addons create problems. I actually agree with this.

"Everyone", I'll tell you who everyone is: 3 people that belong to the same extremely biased group of "nurse is perfect", "killers should insta down teleport and shoot stars off their hands" and "100% of the player base is sweaty 10k hours SWF".

My care about what that specific group of people, who demonstrate 0 objectivity says, is zero.

When you say something I find reasonable, I will say so. I have no problems addressing when something is correct. So far you simply haven't.

Find me one example of anyone you're talking about saying that.

    I'm serious.

    Go on, I'll wait.

But no, once again you're falling back on the 'everyone but me is massively biased, this is all a giant conspiracy of killer mains' ridiculousness.

It genuinely seems like there are no nice survivors anymore it's all toxic survivors left it's just disheartening because they are more toxic than I have ever seen before like it's all bming swf when you're a low-tier killer. When you play fair you get bmed, when you play a killer they don't like you get bmed, there is literally no winning anymore.

Like how can survivors' mains expect killers to not play as ruthless as possible when literally all killers that play up to their standards still get bmed. I'm beginning to think the actually nice ones left the game because I don't get any of the interactions I used to have.

I'd reckon that survivors are a bit more likely to be nasty than killers are.

But there are also plenty of toxic killers.

    The problem here isn't 'survivors'.

The problem here is that this community has become septic, and the developers are the ones responsible for letting the infection spread.

    In my opinion monstrous shrine.

For killers? Shadowborn, BBQ (the BP aspect only).

For survivors? WGLF (the BP aspect only) and Kindred (the survivor auras only).

So your opinions are "facts" and mine are "subjective experiences"

Damn, I was supposed to be the one with an inflated ego.

    In this case? Yes.

Because I can defend my opinions with common sense and numbers. You can only resort to 'I've played this game a lot, and I think you're wrong'.

Note how everyone has been telling you why you are incorrect on all of this?

While the majority isn't always right, when the overwhelming majority disagrees with you - you damned well better be able to give stronger arguments than 'because I say so'.

When I stopped enjoying the game, I also stop playing it, watching it, and also reading forums about it.

Maybe try it sometime, it really helps

    This.

When I stop having fun, I stop playing the game and enjoy some other games, or attempt to be productive IRL.

Eventually I'll get the hankering for some more DbD and come back.

  • So...by 'facts' - you actually mean 'my subjective experiences'.

I suspected we were using that word differently.

We got a full Year on the Steam Player Counts on the Red. That's like 4 Chapter of Failure. I'm hopeful that BHVR Proves me wrong.

The thing about that is - horror games are niche. APvP games are niche. Horror APvP games are thus doubly niche.

It's sort of amazing that DbD ever became as big as it is.

Last year was a massive confluence of a variety of things - the anniversary, combined with the RE chapter. It could just be that DbD's peak is somewhere around the current level, and if it ever goes above that, it will eventually naturally decay back to this level.
