Some people say his reveal is way worse making him nerfed rather than buffed (that buffs aren't any big).

    is it true or false?

Substantially worse. This feels like a deliberate nerf to him.

    @gendoss said:

I think people believe he's worse because they aren't playing him right. If you are just in shroud out in the open chasing somebody of course he's going to be revealed. You have to play in a more stealthy way like hiding behind corners or under windows and such.

    Like... Actually hide.

You can hide. But here's the thing - you could hide before.

However, I'm guessing that Reveal is now validated on the survivor end, because in the past what would happen is if someone happened to accidently see me, I could quickly duck out of sight.

Now, if you get 'seen', which appears to be a ridiculously wide cone emanating from survivors, for even a second you'll get revealed with absolutely no way to prevent it.

What else was he going to do? 2 out of 3 Survivors were swarming the basement

Yes, they didn't respond correctly either - I'm just saying that camping is what allowed him to end the game that fast, and that being BM on top of it is just being a poor sport. I was more looking for a proper game where I can see exactly what he's doing differently in chase to give him his 90% win rate at high MMR.

The Hag gameplay you mentioned is the most inefficient way to play her. If a Hag is playing like that, you should win the game unless your team doesn't know how to hold M1 on a Generator.

That's why you ShiftW away from Artist, you don't try to loop her, her 1v1 is insane.

Her range is good, but an Artist should not get long range snipes reliably, unless your team is throwing.

PR/DMS' strength is so massively overstated it's not even funny anymore

PR/DMS is definitely a good build, but it's no stronger than Ruin/Undying or even my new favorite - Plaything/Pentimento/CoB.

Hag...yeah. You get 3 types of Hags - the chaser Hags that tend to lose horribly, the camper Hags that tend to do well and the roaming Hags that spread traps around the map in all sorts of sneaky places - those are the Hags to be scared of.

First game was awful, but mostly because the new stuttering issue happened at the worst possible times >_>.

The next few games were pretty much balanced.

I've been having a miserable run recently on survivor...17 deaths in 22 games, with the killers and survivors I'm paired with having ridiculous volatility (going from a 45 hour Wraith to a 4500 hour Nurse to a 120 hour Bubba to a 3000 hour Trickster). I think a lot of it is the luck of the draw when it comes to backfill lobbies right now.

That game is way harder than DBD mechanically, by a long shot.

Here you go I just played this, there's some toxic basement camping clown gameplay for you to criticize. Game was over in about 3.5~ minutes I wanna say; looking at the corrupt timer. First chase went super well imo. Survivors probably should have gotten a gen done but it would not have changed the outcome at all. I always hit BT when I am tunnel moring people so they can't locker DS me.

+Endgame chat for the memes. And some spicy -reps on the profile to boot

I'm really not sure what you think this shows.

Yes, hard camping people is an extremely effective strategy, which they didn't respond to correctly. Hopefully that won't be true forever.

Also - wow are you BM. I'm not sure why you insist on both hard camping people at 5 gens and hitting them on hook - I can only imagine what else you did that game. What did you hope to accomplish acting like this besides making people have less fun with the game?

LoL and DbD are difficult in different ways. I'm a lowly Gold in LoL (or was before I stopped playing it a good ways back) but the skill sets aren't really analogous and I'm not sure which I'd call more difficult. I mean...neither of these are Starcraft 2 or anything.

I don't think I am exaggerating. I got to high platinum in League which means I am probably better than 90% of video game players. And in a game like DBD, where the matchmaking isn't the greatest, I enjoy a very high winrate even post MMR. I have played one game today, killed everyone at 4 gens left as Demo, and the only comment in the post game was "that was brutal"

And I hate to tell you, big =/= skilled. Otzdarva, Truetalent, etc are nowhere near the best players I have seen. I used to think Monto was the best, and I have beaten him multiple times. Now I realize he was average at best

No, it means you are probably better than 90% of *League of Legends* players.

Also...Otz isn't skilled. Yeah, I think this is getting to the point of silliness.

Do you happen to stream? Very curious to see some of your absolute god tier games.

    His add-ons say the opposite.

    How so?

I'm decent on nurse and I still like Flannel as a QOL addon, especially if I'm playing in the daytime (the reflections on my screen can make it harder). Watch is just a decent addon all round.

Regardless, he's running full meta perks and has 4x more hours than all the survivors put together.

  • @EntitySpawn said:

Still hardly seeing any killers besides nurse and blight, (legion is being seen but that will die down soon enough). This is so incredibly boring, give me a weaker team so I can at least verse a different killer...

Then killers miserable, cant have any fun in these matches. I get no weak link and have people running full meta with strong items making the experience just pointless, god forbid I play someone who isnt blight and able to actually stand a chance.

I just cant force myself to play your game in this current state, no side is fun and neither gives/allows variety. And I'm not going to spend ages deranking every other day.

Something is a bit iffy recently for sure, but I think that's a lot of people coming for the bonus archive stuff leading to more backfill, and thus more chaos.

    I know I've just gone between a 4500 hour Nurse, a 120 hour Bubba and a 3300 hour Trickster.

Uhh you can watch him win every game for 8 hours in a row. Don't make excuses. He says he only plays the game on stream and I am sure if you cared enough you could check the addons between games and verify that (I don't).

And why would I engage in deranking? I'm not a streamer, I have nothing to prove to anyone but myself. I have saved some VODs of me absolutely destroying people, but don't save every match because I have no reason to

You claimed to 3k in 90% of your games, which means you are world class, tourney tier prodigy level, you're deranking or you're massively exaggerating to the point of self parody.

I'll have to scratch around Reddit, because I remember that guy and a bit of drama...maybe a year ago and him saying 'yeah, I derank off stream for more fun games'. I could be mistaken, naturally - but it's either that or he's one of the absolute best players in the world (even Otz and co. who play this game professionally don't get streaks like that).

That's not the only thing Twins is good for, it is just an opinion. It is the fact they can slug so easily that it overshadows everything else. When something is broken, players will exploit that. Like Blight gliding around wall.

I have little faith in BHVR fixing camping. Their track record on these things are below average. I'm sure they'll be an exploit to that so it doesn't do anything. After all, they said they wanted to make sure killers could still "proxy camp". So, tunneling will be still as effective as always since DS is only a 1-time use.

Sloppy is a great perk it wouldn't be used so much. It oppresses the healing mechanic. A survivor can be 99% healed and if the killer interrupts the survivor it instantly goes back to 0. How is that remotely fair?

I stopped using CoH a long time ago. It is a killer perk. You can actually do a gen before finding and blessing a totem. Why do all that work for "self-care speeds" when it is so easy for killer to remove it? It was overnerfed.

Twin rework? Either they need a rework or Unbreakable should be buffed to be used more than once. If extremely powerful perks like Tinkerer can trigger over and over and over and over, there's no reason Unbreakable is one time and done.

    Sigh.

    • No, that's how Twins works. It's why they are played like that at higher MMR.
    • Yes, people will exploit stuff. I still see survivors abuse spots where you can't pick them up (the lockers in Asylum have a spot) or try to get up onto geometry. And the less said about Boil Over and Eyrie the better.
    • Tunneling and defending a hook are all part of how this game is designed.
    • Sloppy sees a fair amount of use because it's a free, baseline perk and also completely fire and forget. You don't see it much at all past a certain MMR.
    • CoH is a killer perk may be the funniest take I've seen in ages. CoH is still a part of the SWF meta and at higher MMRs, you'll see it literally every game.
    • Whataboutism means you concede the argument.
  • @dugman said:

It’s probably a backfill or just that killer being in queue a really long time. They have to eventually play somebody and if nobody is available in their bracket then it will ultimately just put them in the next avaialble match.

Another less likely possibility is they either stink at that particular killer (every killer character has an independent MMR so it’s entirely possible for someone to be great at some killers but lousy at others. I’m a decent killer overall but a total scrub with Nurse for instance.) Or that they throw a lot of matches to artificially lower their MMR.

No, this guy very clearly knew what he was doing. Perfect blinks, defending his Ruin, basically just zipping around the map slugging everyone and then hooking.

I'm guessing it's either an MMR smurfer or backfill.

    (22) Dead By Daylight Live | 150+ Killer Winstreak - YouTube

There you go. I have no idea what MMR I am at but I probably 3k+ 90% of my games. Generally by following the same strategies as this streamer, who I have watched for years. He has gotten to an 800+ winstreak pre-MMR, without using Nurse Blight or Spirit.

Isn't that the guy that admitted to deliberately deranking/dropping his MMR between sessions? If I recall it was when he was doing his Demo streaks. I know I run into the occasional obvious smurfer, where it'll be me, 3 other survivors with 60-100 hours and a 4200 hour Nurse.

If you're winning 90% of your games...yeah, I'm curious to know if you have some VODs and/or engage in a bit of deranking.

If the down happens early enough, no you cannot. And I have played the last few ~months~ and have not had a team wait out CI. I know the spawn locations on most maps, and have a good idea of where to go at the start of the game to find people. Solo Q teams are literally never going to do that. If you start a match off strong using that build, you just never lose. Why do you think people are going on 100+ winstreaks using it? Because it's weak?

If you as the killer have someone hooked, you are progressing your objective. You can still be going on chases and destroying the resources of the map. The survivors are not progressing their objective. It's almost the same effect as regression.

    ...

Okay, who exactly, post SBMM, is doing 100+ win streaks? I really want to see VODs, because the closest I can think of is Otz with 50 wins on Artist, and half of that was during the MMR testing.

I'm not saying that blocking isn't viable - I'm saying it has trade offs.

Maybe we're at different MMRs, because I see people trying to stealth CI constantly, generally SWF groups.

And when it's paired with other slowdown perks? I have been doing Corrupt, Deadlock, PR, DMS and I can tell you that if I get an early down it's not uncommon to have 4-5 gens blocked at the same time.

"Painfully easy to counter" when you can play someone like Onryo, teleport across the map to someone's gen, then immediately teleport back?

    These forums I swear

Yes, those gens are blocked. But here's the thing:

    • You can just hide and wait out CI, which is what I'm seeing coordinated groups doing on certain maps.
    • You can work on other gens.

This often creates a 'dam' effect where it looks like you're winning, but all of the gens are at 90% and suddenly go off together.

Hard regression will always beat out blocking.

  • @Leachy_Jr said:

Okay so you know how there was no Artist changes in the midchapter? And that Artist got a cosmetic that also released with the mid chapter?

Well I bough the Artist cosmetic instantly cos it's crow mom and I've been maining her since she released. The thing is though is that new killers usually get updates in the next-chapters midchapter (so artist should've been changed in this mid chapter).

Tinfoil hat time: Do you think they kept artist nerfs out of the midchapter to sell the cosmetic more, and then nerf her later on?

Maybe I'm just paranoid ever since slinger got gutted out of nowhere, but I wouldn't put it past BHVR to do something like this. It's exactly what happened with old MoM and what is happening to CoH.

If they nerf Artist...that would probably be the day I hang up this game for good - because it means that my vision for the game and the devs vision for the game are irreconcilably different.

She's as close to a perfectly balanced killer as any, alongside Plague and Demo.

The only changes I'd make to her would be making her addons a bit less bleh.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2929693#Comment_2929693

I wouldn't count PTB buffs/nerfs as actual buffs/nerfs because the Killer didn't get fully released yet.

DMS isn't even that good of a Perk tbh, it only useful on Artist and maybe Nurse/Blight

DMS is often a psychological perk moreso than a useful regression perk. I've stopped using it as I've found what happens is that it looks like I'm winning, with 5 hooks at 5 gens and suddenly 4 gens pop at the same time.

I don't understand why the sexuality of any character is a thing... it's not like it influences any in-game mechanics, and it's not something you can see. I get "representation", I'm part of a community that is not visually represented (i.e. there's no character that looks similar to myself), and I wish BHVR would do better with that. But in terms of inner-traits, why do we care and where do we stop? Should we address religion, political position, etc, as well?

Visually, probably the closest character to me IRL is Bill (he has more hair than me though, and a shorter beard) but I've always preferred female avatars in games.

I...don't disagree with all of the rest, but I also like to think of it this way.

    • Horror has always been something of a haven for LGBTs, as well as the rest of us that don't always gel perfectly with mainstream society.
    • DbD is also quite popular with LGBT gamers.
    • Including a gay character is thus simply playing to your audience - much like including a large breasted nekomimi in an ecchi anime is playing to that audience.
    • If it encourages more people to play and spend money, that's fantastic - because I do want this game to succeed.

I hope that BHVR give politics and religion a wide miss though, because that's where you start alienating people.

  • Sort of an ironic troll - someone who says outrageous or ridiculous stuff as a parody of the other side, in the hopes that it gets taken literally and earns support by the extreme fringes of that side.

If I were watching Shroud, who is by all accounts a GOAT at pretty much every game, have such a God awful experience with DBD, there is no way in hell I'm playing it

Shroud and Tru3 seem to be getting more and more bitter towards this game - which I think partly comes down to the community being awful and partly familiarity breeding contempt.

To be fair, it would have blown up on social media even if they didn’t announce it at all. And while from a corporate standpoint it might be a money decision - from the people behind it (the staff, the devs) we know it’s important for them as we actually know plenty of them are LGBTQ+ allies or even part of the community.

As I said, it's probably a little of both.

'Allies' has always been an odd word, but if you're saying that there was an ideological basis here...maybe?

But my guess is that this is primarily 'this game has always been something of a haven for LGBTs, and they've been asking for a gay survivor forever, so this will create a lot of good will and maybe get them to buy a cosmetic or two'.

Which again, I have zero issues with.

I mean that kids learn from a very young age that boys like girls and girls like boys. And there's no one to teach them that that isn't always the case. And LGBT kids feel they are different from a lot younger than you would think. It's true that actual sexual attraction only kicks in during puberty, but a very dimmed kind of attraction is present from early ages.

I'm not saying that kids should be taught in detail about any sexuality (at least untill they're old enough). I'm saying, that just as a 4 year old knows that he will have a girlfriend (you know, in his understanding of what a gf is), what exactly is wrong about telling that kid something like "you can be together with whomever you like, regardless of gender". It's nothing sexual. It's nothing that corrupts the 4yo. As long as teaching the 4yo about straight people is fine, so is teaching about other people.

I'm not sure if it can be separated out like that, and even if it can - it's really tricky and something I wouldn't necessarily trust anyone else to do. If I'd wanted to tell my kids about this stuff at 5...I'd want to be the one doing it.

You say 'dimmed attraction'...I'd reckon it's something a little different - either extremely innocent playing out of roles they've encountered in the world and in fiction (no education required) or something closer to friendship. When we say attraction in an adult context, there is a sexual or at least a romantic component, because that's what human 'attraction' is mostly. If what you're talking about is what I'm talking about (platonic attraction - ie. friendship), then it's probably unnecessary to teach kids about it - they already generally understand.

Granted it was a...very long time ago (I'm an old man), but I had plenty of female friends right up until I hit the 'girls are icky' phase and there was no attraction whatsoever. Entirely platonic - literally just friends. And. again, I don't think we need to teach kids that it's okay to be friends.

But let's drill down here. Be as specific as you can.

How would you go about teaching this stuff to a class of 5 year olds?

    @GoodBoyKaru said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2929567#Comment_2929567

Well so long as you're fine about fairy tales being about a woman and a man being together then good for you, at least you're not hypocritical about it.

The problem with DSG comes from the fact that heterosexual everything is perfectly fine, and hearing about a husband and wife being together is perfectly fine and encouraged, and yet 2 husbands is suddenly a horrific crime, inappropriate, predatory, etc.

Edit: just seen your edit on your wish to bow out, and I'm not particularly interested in arguing over semantics today because I'm genuinely exhausted of this topic now, so unless you also have something to say I feel like we can just leave this one here.

Yeah probably for the best. I'm happy to have this discussion, but it's not one that I can really do justice while I'm cautiously trying to avoid getting into areas that are too sensitive. And yes, it does boil down to semantics at the end of the day - but sometimes, language is important.

I'll agree to disagree on this one and yeah, leave it there.

To be fair, people are finding excuses to be against LGBTQ+ inclusion and you can make arguments against any way how it is executed.

as i said, if it was a new character there would be plenty of people saying it’s forced, tokenism, only doing it for the money, pandering etc pp. And it being an old character doesn’t rule out new characters being added.

and David was never stated to be straight.

Sure. I have no issue with David being gay any more than I'd have an issue with David being straight. Because I have zero investment in the canon lore and prefer to make up my own little narratives ingame.

I definitely think that part of this decision comes down to money though - looking at social media, this is the most anyone's talked about DbD in a long time. But I don't think that's a bad thing - if this helps to get more people into the game, all the better.

and they didn’t change David at all. He was never confirmed straight. And no one complained about the tome where he suddenly got a girlfriend while there was no partner mentioned in the initial backstory.

people just like to complain about LGBTQ+ inclusion and are using excuses as to why.

To be fair though, I don't think I've seen a single person complaining that there was LGBT inclusion - it's more about how it was done, and I see as many 'do more' or 'why not a new character?' posts (and one bizarre 'this is queer erasure because David's traditionally masculine and that's not okay' thread) as I do 'I liked David being straight' posts.

Seriously, where was this energy when there were characters confirmed straight/bi/? SERIOUSLY, I don't understand why it's OK when straight people get representation but when the LGBTQ community does it's an issue.

And for anyone questioning why this post is needed, I'll put a small essay (tldr will be in comments because I know people don't have time to read an entire Bible on here.

Ever since I was a kid, I was bullied for acting a lil too... you know 💀💀💀

It eventually got to the point where I would literally suppress my feelings for crushes and people I loved just to fit in.

(good God I'm tearing up while making this)

It was so bad that I eventually ended up dating girls even though I barely like them sexually. ( I am bisexual but have more of a preference towards men ).

Eventually when I came out at 14, I got kicked out and had to live on the streets for a few months. It was rough, and it was all because I simply liked men.

So when I finally met Kason (my boyfriend) my world changed.

He and my brother introduced me to DBD.

So when I saw that David was confirmed gay, me and the rest of the LGBT community rejoiced and celebrated. You wanna know why?

Because if we didn't celebrate it, who would've?

TLDR: I got bullied and got kicked out of the households for being 🌈 when I was a teenager. I met my bf Kason, who introduced me to DBD, and when I saw David was gay, me and the LGBT community rejoiced because who else would've?

And Kason, if you see this (even though you probably don't use the forums, just know that I love you too much to even put into words.

    What energy?

Thus far I've seen a tiny handful of people trying to be edgy, one obvious Poe and a few people asking why they didn't just make a new character - as much from a 'do more BHVR' standpoint as a 'my headcanon is that David was straight' perspective. I think that the vast majority of people went 'oh, okay' and got back to not caring at all about the lore.

I need to paraphrase this as a universal law of internet forums:

I haven't quite gotten the hang of it, but you have to intuit a certain distance between you and the killer. Too late and you won't be able to spin out of the way, too early and they'll just stop to track you.

For PC, I switch from W to AS or S to AW while jerking my mouse/camera to the side. (Not because that direction is superior, just because the way my keyboard is lined up, the D is farther from the W and it's easier to swipe a circle between those three keys.) Console, I dunno. But spinning seems more effective against console killers than PC killers because the capped controller sensitivity makes the pivot harder to keep up with. If you can tell the killer is on PC, there isn't much point in spinning unless they seem really easily confused.

    Thanks! Yeah, I'll try that.

He got two strong basekit buffs, and literally every single addon he has got buffed. He's got exhaustion addons now and wallhack addons and you're still complaining? The reveal changes are just a quality of life thing, it's really not that deep, just expose them or hide better if you don't want to be revealed. If the survivor is looking at him and he is out in the open he deserves to be revealed, that's how his power is designed.

I swear killer mains will call anything a nerf even if it makes them 0.00001% weaker. Ghostface undeniably got buffed, this is like saying the dead hard fix was a buff because it works as intended now. No it doesn't lol

Yes, the Dead Hard 'fix' amounted to a buff.

Two strong basekit buffs...explain? The marked duration is basically irrelevant, because he's not designed to mark and then have a long chase.

The issue is that the 'reveal' thing means that now, if a survivor looks at you - even if you duck back into cover you'll still often be revealed. That's a huge nerf, considering that Spine Chill is now a perfect blanket hard counter to him.

I really hope you take this argument and are entirely against any and all forms of children learning about heterosexuality too, then, because homosexuality isn't, shockingly, intrinsically sexual and it's a mistake to believe it is. I had feelings of being gay since I was a kid, and proper education would've been an absolute godsend into making sure that I had any form of stable mental health. It also helps to correct issues of bullying and homophobia in children.

That's the joys of education, you can easily fix the mistakes of the parents if you can teach people otherwise. It's when you're not even allowed to teach that you basically lose hope of ever helping to create a better generation.

Then again, after our many other discussions on this topic, I can't even say I'm shocked at this development.

Mm. It's...complicated, but broadly - yes, I am. As so far as any sort of sex-ed goes in a scholastic context, I'm as against heterosexual sex-ed as I am against homosexual sex-ed for kindergartners.

It's not entirely sexual but yes, it does have an intrinsically sexual component - which is why we refer to it as a 'sexual identity'.

I don't think you can really detach 'attraction' from sexuality, because that's broadly what attraction is. It's not some vague notion of two souls finding each other - we are very much where the falling angel meets the rising ape, and 'attraction' mostly comes down to us wanting to pass our genes on.

I'm also not saying 'never', but I am saying that 5 is way too young to broach anything like this. And if that makes me some sort of retrograde dinosaur, so be it.

Generally though, school based sex-ed shouldn't be necessary at all. The fact that it is necessary is a failing of parents.

And yes, we disagree on some stuff. Is that a bad thing? I really hope you aren't going to try and spin this as 'StarLost is a massive bigot' again, because that's not at all what this is.

When it comes to extremely young kids - I'd rather be cautious.

Are you saying kids can't be kids if they have the knowledge that different people exist? Should we shelter those kids from different cultures too then? After all, you're saying kids are too stupid to understand that people can be different, yet... They are smart enough to understand gender roles and gender norms... It's called the socialization process where parents and their social environment teach their kid what is expected of them in our society. They teach boys to play with toy cars and girls to play with dolls, boys to like the blue color and girls to like pink, ... So children do know differences and it's way more than biological differences. Genderroles and gendernorms are social constructs.

Children are smart as hell, at a young age they learn everything of what it means to be a boy through all kinds of media. So why not adapt the content of this knowledge to the 21st century?

It's not like your kid gets traumatized by the knowledge that not everyone is the same. My uncle is gay. From the moment I was born, I knew not everyone was heterosexual and it's not like I woke up from nightmares of my morally corrupt uncle kissing another man in a dark alleyway.

Like, how can you sit there and claim that the idea that you need to shelter your kids from the LGBT+ community isn't insulting.

    Of course not.

But I am saying that 5 is too young to be learning what 'gay' means. 5 is also too young to be learning what 'straight' means. Because 5 is a time of life where you're only just starting to understand what reading is.

I'm fine with this stuff being taught...frankly, I think 4th grade is still too young, but it's definitely better.

I totally disagree that kids have any idea of gender norms at 5. I don't think kids really even have a solid concept of gender at 5.

If you literally came out of the womb with an understanding of this stuff, I'm not sure how to even respond to that. And no, this isn't about the LGBT community, this is exercising a little bit of restraint when it comes to teaching extremely young children the facts of life.

And no, kids aren't smart. At all. Kids are kids. I think that any broaching of subjects like this are massively inappropriate until kids are a lot older, and that extends to any sort of formalized education about romantic attraction and sexual identity.

If kids are bullying other kids for whatever reason, stop it. But that's the age where you say 'bullying is bad' not 'bullying someone because they are gay is bad'.

I was feeling I'm into anyone ever since I was like 5 or 6, but I didn't know what those feelings were, nor could I tell I was special because of that. I learnt about LGBT at 6, and was taught by my mom to despise it. At 10, I was lucky to learn on the internet that LGBT people don't chose to be so, and it's actually a way you're born. By 12, I had already figured out I was pansexual. Do you know how it felt to feel special, in a world where being special is despised by everyone around me? From 6-10 I was so scared that I was a weirdo for liking anyone. I thought I made some bad decisions perhaps.

LGBT people feel they're different from a much younger age than 2 digits. And by that point, you would most likely have been exposed to the LGBT, and unfortunately for most people, in a bad light. Kids learn about heterosexuality from very young ages (maybe 3, 4, 5), so what exactly is wrong in telling a 6-7-8 yo that there are some people that like their own gender, and they are just absolutely normal?

See - this is where language is so important.

When you say 'into' or 'learn about heterosexuality' what exactly do you mean?

EDIT: I think I'm going to bow out of this one now, unless someone really wants to keep going on this topic. It's an extremely touchy subject and, as I'm on my last 'forum life', I'd rather not risk annoying a mod again.

That's pretty much the norm right? You have to outplay survivors 3 times in order to actually get them, thanks to the "Press E to escape" perk.

(Waiting for some survivor main to comment "just bait it out")

Yeah, that sounds like normal killer games.

Fortunately Dead Hard is on the devs' radar, much like facecamping.

  • @Laluzi said:

I don't see how you could call it anything but a nerf, trying to chase people with that wash cycle ringing in your ears.

But in all seriousness, yes. His addons are better, but I can't call the changes to his mechanics anything other than a nerf. Increasing the marked duration doesn't mean much because you typically shouldn't be marking people at points where they can have a prolonged chase; sneaking up or 99ing and then popping right behind someone is much more effective. Marked survivors being unable to reveal him - I mean, yeah, you can't turn around and stare at him during the chase (assuming he didn't just instagank you and dismiss his own cloak, which is the ideal Ghostface scenario), but Ghostface isn't going to be stalking other players while he's chasing your marked butt, so it doesn't really matter that much other than giving other players a better idea of where he is. But again, because you're marked, you're a more appealing target than most other survivors you might stumble across. Meanwhile, it's considerably easier to bust him out of cloak while he's stalking you, and that's massive considering just how powerless Ghostface is against aware survivors, especially comms. Now he doesn't even have the ability to pop in and out of cover to finish a stalk. He definitely needs more love, because the changes didn't address his problems (except the 'only one line of my addons is remotely useful' one.)

Weirdly, I don't mind the new tune. It can be a bit grating, but it's nowhere near as bad as the 'nyooooorrr nyooooorrr' of the Trickster theme (dammit but I hate facing Tricksters).

His addons are a weird mix. Some are good, some are bad, some are worse than the originals.

It feels like most of the attention went to Legion, sadly. Frankly, I liked Ghosty better as he was, in all his janky glory.

Okay so 2 questions in one:

why didn’t the ringu get a map when she launched like some of the other killers?

and why don’t people play as pinhead? I’ve never played against him

    Hmm.

    1. No idea, but not all new killers get a map. Maps are probably the most resource intensive thing to make, and they yield no sales.
    2. I see the odd Cenobite - he's definitely more common than Twins (well, before this tome), Hag, Plague and Demo. He's just very tricky to play well, has something of an undercooked active power (likely due to how strong his passive can be) and is also one of the killers that survivors hate playing against, and will often DC/suicide early,
  • @Zozzy said:

to be fair, it was really annoying having a ghostie 2 feet from you but you couldn't expose him because he crouched next to a barrel for 0.1 second and it reset.

I never really had a problem with it - in that situation it feels like the correct counterplay should be just to run.

The issue is that he was a lower tier killer even with that bit of jankiness - sometimes it would cut in your favor, sometimes you'd get revealed by fresh air.

His changes feel like they come out at a nerf, which can't be intended.

I'm sure this is gonna be polarizing but--as a killer, do you let survivors get their glyphs? Like a red/white/yellow/green/etc in the game? Its usually pretty obvious when someone is doing something because it's the only time they're reaching out into thin air standing absolutely still

PERSONALLY--I let them get it. Its the one thing we dont REALLY have control over because we can't control where it spawns, or if we will even have time to safely interact with it. It's especially frustrating when you pay to unlock the Rift, and you still got challenges to complete, but sometimes I've been stuck on simple glyph challenges because I literally dont have a game where I 1. Find the Glyph and 2. Have time to interact with it. I have had a few killers who would see me interact, pause for a second for me to finish, then continue towards me once I was done--which I really appreciate :)

Then you got those killers who are already LITERALLY about to 4k, and you're just trying to salvage SOMETHING out of the game by interacting with your glyph, and they don't even let you have that and just slug you. Like... why. It costs you nothing to let me have my glyph you'll still get the 4k.

Yes, unless I'm losing horribly. I know how annoying those glyph challenges can be (that bloody white one...argh) so I'll try to accommodate folks.

    @brokedownpalace said:

    When a killer hits me mid-glyph I know he's a troll

Eh...it's generally more 'I want to win and I don't know yet if this is going to be a hard game or an easy game'. It's usually better to get ahead first and ease up once you've taken control of the game.

The first game of the day with an offering screen showing three party streamers so I thought this might actually be a good game. Nope, the killer said NO WAY IS THAT HAPPENING! It was a Twins and they proceeded to slug non-stop unnecessarily. The killer put Victor at the hook to watch Nea on the hook and proceeding to slug another one. I managed to finish the gen in the Asylum and recovered someone on the ground. Then, the Twins slugged two in the building and as I tried to go save someone they saw me and downed me outside.

After one was camped to death, the second one gave up while I was slugged.

He couldn't go ahead and hook me to get more points, he left me on the ground to find the last player. This is with three party streamers. Purposely playing this way with 4 or 5 gens still remaining to deny a fun match to prevent others from getting points. Killers are overwhelmingly overpowered in a very unhealthy manner. It is too hard for survivors to finish their objectives.

This is what happens in about 9 out of 10 matches in Dead by Daylight. I don't believe BHVR is aware how bad survivor gameplay is:

    https://us.v-cdn.net/6030815/uploads/NJD3PRK6WZQJ/20220428170246-1.png

And killers are using Sloppy Butcher now that CoH is drastically nerfed. It is very unfun to take a very long time to heal, are we going to see a nerf to Sloppy Butcher???

Killers need some meaningful nerfs. Twins needs a major rework so slugging is not kindergarten easy. There is no way this game will last much longer if something is not done about how unfun and impossible survivor is.

I'm already done after one game.

Okay, let's dig in. I've been playing survivor and also had a...rough day, 11 deaths, 3 escapes. But that's how the dice fall sometimes.

    • Yes, lots of Twins means lots of slugging. I hate it too. Ditto camping. Unfortunately, that's about all their kit is good for.
    • BHVR plan to fix camping in due course. Slugging...unfortunately, it's sort of an essential part of the game at higher levels. I do loathe it, but that's more of a game mechanics thing rather than a killer thing.
    • That's not killers being OP, that's you running into a jerk. I always try to go easy if people bring me streamers though :)
    • 9/10 matches is pure hyperbole.
    • Sloppy is not a great perk, and you barely see it outside of lower MMRs. It really doesn't slow things down all that much unless you're self caring.
    • Why are you running Botany and Self Care? Not trying to be mean, but your build could be better if winning is your goal. CoH rather than Self Care, maybe Unbreakable if you're getting slugged a lot.
    • I agree that Twins need a rework.
    • Killers absolutely do not need a nerf, with the exception of maybe some Nurse and Blight addons.
  • I don't mind it.

The only chase music I cannot stand is Trickster's.

    Yes.

    I agree with it. Completely.

There is absolutely no need for any sort of sex-ed in kindergarten, whatsoever. 4th Grade (so kids around 9 or 10) still seems a little early for me, frankly - until your age is at least in the double digits, I don't see any good reason to teach about anything sexual.

    • "Can you name me a single, current piece of legislation that targets homosexuals in a negative way?"

There is a law recently created in Florida that forbids the teaching of sexual orientation in schools.

    No, there isn't.

If it's the bill I'm thinking of (DSG) - it only forbids it in Kindergarten through...it was either second or third grade. Either way, I don't see how that targets homosexuals - it's more about the appropriateness of any sort of sexual education for very young children. Why the hell do kindergartners need to learn about sexual identities? I don't think that kids that young have any idea what a sexual identity even is.

If only our experiences matched up. This really isn't how things are treated in the real world because while most people are like "oh that's cool whatever" it's the people in power with the prejudice and they're really trying to make our lives a living hell and get us back to pre-60s legislation. So, sadly, it will always be a big deal until the war against our existence at a legal level is finally over, which won't be for a hell of a long time if I so much as glance at Florida, Texas, or the UK Gov and conversion therapy.

Hmm. Okay, let's dig in here a bit. Keep in mind that I'm talking about the LG and B, because the 'T' is a contentious topic and even progressive circles are massively split on even the fundamentals.

    • Are the people in power really like that? About the closest I can think of is maybe MTG (who's a complete whackadoo) and maybe Pence and at worst, they simply believe some mildly regressive stuff - I can't think of anything they've actually done.
    • Can you name me a single, current piece of legislation that targets homosexuals in a negative way?
    • UK government...not sure what you mean. As far as I know, they've said that they think it's better to go at it at a social level rather than a legal level, as far as getting rid of conversion therapy goes - which Labor and co. spun into 'you hate gay people' somehow, despite them coming out strongly against it.
    • As for the rest, I'm not sure what you mean. Yes, it's not expressly forbidden by law - but that doesn't mean the sort of aggressive conversion disorder you're likely thinking of is commonplace, and it is forbidden in many places when it comes to minor.

That all said, it's a very complicated topic, because a lot of the laws count any sort of theraputic intervention as conversion therapy, even when it's made at a patient's request.

  • @AlbinoViera said:

Already said it somewhere else, but I'm just gonna say it again.

I think this whole thing has been a step backwards in my personal opinion. Not because he's gay, but because of the way it's been handled, both by BHVR and by the community. A person/character being gay, is not something special; so why are we treating it as such? Why can't we just act like it's the norm for a character to be gay and move on? Treating others differently because of their race, gender, orientation, et cetera.. Aren't these the things people want to avoid?

Or is it only when the treatment is negative? In that case, should Jane or someone be celebrated and have an announcement for liking the opposite sex then?

In all honesty, good for bhvr and it's nice to see a gay character, but.. I genuinely don't see why they, and by extension we, need to big it up so much. Just let a character be a character, whatever they're into.

Yup. This is basically where I've been for the last...maybe decade. It feels like we've moved backwards somehow.

Because that isn't how these things are treated outside of the video game space.

It really is though, at least in the modern West.

Or maybe things are changing (which is honestly even worse) - but I remember a golden era back in the late 90s and early 2000s, where it...really wasn't a big deal. I mean, we had two gay chaps in our residence at Uni and they were just other dudes. We were even able to have a bit of fun banter with them.

Legion doesn't need any nerfs or buffs...

They need more than that : a complete true REWORK

as long as feral frenzy is Legion's power they're always gonna stay in the trash tier list BHVR still doesn't realise how bad they messed up with Legion's power and design.

Legion as a whole is just a boring killer to play or to go against don't want to be rude but how can you have fun when you know you're gonna get a free injure and you did nothing to deserve it just m2 and the survivor you're going to hit can't do anything about it.

there are no mindgames,no nothing you just get injured and there was nothing you could do here.

Most killers in the game have to make a skillful play/read to get a hit/down but it's not the case of the Legion, even Nurse the best killer in the game has to make a good read if she wants to injure a survivor.

Legion just has a braindead power "Look I use my M2 and get survivors injured for free wow what a fun and interactive power for both sides!"

the problem with Legion is not that they're hard to play against its just that Legion's power is so badly designed and boring for both sides...

Once again the Legion needs a full REWORK to make his power fun and interactive for BOTH sides.

Sadly, it's never, ever going to happen. BHVR has not yet given any killer that level of rework in the history of the game, and likely never will.
