Anyways, blah blah blah console Nurse game on fractured cowshed I don't tunnel its perkless nurse with recharge addons, they get the last 2 gens done everyone is 2 hooked beside one guy can't apply pressure because I am panicking due to not playing Nurse in a while.

It's endgame, I down someone, but too late to get anyone else and they are 2 hooked so no point in trying to go for other people and the other survivors simply leave, I let them go and lead them to the exit gate because I was slugging him to try to lure in survivors who were hiding at the exit gates which they didn't fall for the trick and personally at that point getting him sacrificed wouldn't mean much of anything anyway.

I let him go and he starts teabagging at the exit gate and leaves and I'm honestly just done because I have tried so hard to play as fair as possible no matter what and just let everyone enjoy the game, but the survivors are so toxic lately like the most toxic I have ever seen ever.

I am just ranting here because it's just so frustrating, like trying your best to follow these made-up standards and you still get bmed. I genuinely don't understand what I did to deserve all the toxicity towards me.

    Because:

    1. This game is a machine designed to produce frustration. It's very seldom fair, because a lot of it comes down to a blind wager at the selection screen - if I pick a kitted out Nurse into a solo queue team of meme builds, I'm going to crunch them, and if I pick a memey Pig build into a ninja SWF, I'm going to get wrecked.
    2. The developers have essentially encouraged people to be nasty to each other, via their whole 'we think smack talk is an important part of online gaming' stance.
    3. Nastiness and toxicity always propagate outwards.

We will not be discussing the removal of the Stranger Things Chapter - we gave out all the information on this at the time.

As for what else is in the Stream...only a few hours to go until you find out. I do suggest watching with an open mind and not going in with preconceived ideas on what is expected in the stream.

    Fingers crossed for:

    • Facecamping solution
    • Grind solution
    • Solo queue statuses
    • Some more killer buffs for Onryo, Ghostface (I'm still wondering why he needed a nerf) etc.
    • SBMM backfill issues fixed
    • Player endorsement system to try and stem the toxicity (and massive unfriendliness) of this community.

That would actually be an elegant sufficiency for me.

Well, since you gave up on your own judgement, because you don't think your own experience is valid enough (you say you have barely 1k) next time just quote the person you're talking in the name of, I guess. I will then respond to what -they- have to say.

I do care about how many hours I have played, and no, I don't spend thousand of hours looking at the menu. You can actually check if someone AFK farmed hours, just introducing their profile in some of the DBD stats tracker. Many hours, with progress that doesn't match, probably afk yeah. Many hours with matching stats, there you have it.

You're trying really hard to deflect -facts- while simultaneously using "she said he said" as science. It just doesn't make you look good. Also, the fact you hide your profile is telling.

But there is one thing I am tired about. I am tired about people who don't play, or didn't play even half of what I did, trying to tell me how X or Y works. I will take advice or listen to people who prove they know how things work. Otherwise, play more and then come back to me.

Sigh. When you have to put words in someone else's mouth, it generally means that you have no response to what they were actually saying.

What 'facts'? You've been factually wrong since the start of this lot.

I used a general consensus, because I know how this dance goes. I'll say 'oh, Otz said that' and you'll respond with 'oh, Otz isn't a good player because x y z' and it becomes a pissing match. But the general consensus is there - Tru3, Otz, Dowsey and Tofu have all opined that CoH is a bleeding edge top tier perk - amazing for solos, broken in SWFs.

My point is that time doesn't always mean you are correct. As you so...perfectly demonstrate here, sometimes all it means is that you've been wrong for longer.

I explained why CoH is strong, via simple common sense. But I'll do it again, since you didn't bother responding last time (and skipped right to the 'I've played for 5k hours so I'm right' dodge).

    • CoH gives a souped up self-care to the entire team, for the price of a single slot.
    • CoH takes a bit longer initially, but even a 1k hour noob like myself can locate a totem fairly fast and once it's up, it's extremely powerful.
    • Plenty of maps have semi-guaranteed totem spawns in a spot where CoH can blanket almost the entire map, and be a massive time commitment to snuff. The top of IWOM is the easiest example. Remember, CoH is a cylinder, meaning that on smaller maps with a lot of verticality it's exponentially more powerful.
    • CoH stacks with other healing perks so well that, with a good medkit, you can heal someone mid chase.

    There.

So the knowledge doesn't come from you, comes from Mommy. In this case Mommy being a "very good" streamer who "plays this for a living". Is there an official entity that gathered and released all this information? Example, "All these Mommies and Daddies, universally take THIS stance on this issue" Source?

    https://steamcommunity.com/id/Sumnox

This is my profile. I don't have anything to hide, and I don't need external validation when I have more than enough experience in this game to know what I'm talking about.

    Cheers.

No, the knowledge comes from a general consensus of people who both play and analyze this game, in public, for a living. You can be as snarky as you like, that doesn't change the fact that you are placing your own subjective (and extremely biased) opinion over this.

It's the 'Flat Earther' syndrome at it's finest.

Again, I don't care about how many hours you have played - because:

    A. For all I know, 4,500 of those hours were spent staring at the main menu screen, or alt-tabbed out watching Avril Lavigne videos.

    B. Your opinion both contradicts common sense and the opinion of other, more experienced players who play this game at a semi-professional level and

    C. Your argument amounts to 'this things I believe, trust me, I play this game for long time, ignore other people who play it for longer and probably have more robust, more balanced take'.

    Yeah, no.

We're just going in circles, and don't agree. That's fine. Your point is they're telegraphed and punishable. My point is. These killers possess powers that CAN get you hits where others can't.

Can you dodge them ? Sure. But what about when that killer is equally good at hitting their power ? You get hits. And that's my point and my opinion that you won't agree on.

I think you're missing my point.

Yes, killers with anti-loop are generally better than killers without.

There's still a world of difference power wise between a Nurse or a Huntress and a Cenobite.

I'm only guessing, but I think it might be that there are 2 people hooked, and neither of the other 2 are coming to save them.

Or someone got hooked, started suiciding. Person 2 came for the save, got hooked and followed suit. The other two could be on their way, and the game could have been salvaged had they not given up.

Person who never plays solo queue survivor spotted.

I play a fair bit of solo queue. I've seen winnable games sabotaged by someone giving up...so many times.

Hell, here you've got what I assume were 0 hook people on their first hooks, at 2 gens, both suiciding, meaning that the game is now probably unwinnable by the other two.

If they'd just held fast, one survivor could have rescued while the other popped an additional gen - maybe getting a 3 or a 4 out.

  • @Sumnox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2953779#Comment_2953779

I don't need to quote anybody else, when I am my own best judge, for my experience as solo survivor in what I can assume is high mmr after roughly 5k hours. The "mommy says..." argument is not necessarily something I need.

Well, I like facts presented. When I talk to someone who tries to lecture others on this and that, and seems to think they're some sort of authority "I declare this is X, this is Y", "Mommy says this is X, Y, Z", I wonder, okay this person must have A LOT of experience. That's why I asked for a bit of proof.

You don't seem to be willing to present any, I must assume because it's not going to make you look good. That's fine, I already told you how I view it.

Fortunately, reality is not dependent on your belief.

I'm not going to give you additional access to my personal details and spaces, and you asking for this is honestly pretty sus.

When the overwhelming consensus among people who play this game for a living is the complete opposite of what you are asserting, Ockham's Razor dictates that you are probably wrong. Even myself as a lowly 1k-ish hour player can tell you, mechanically, why CoH isn't 'garbage'.

Actually there is skillful Hag counterplay

It's called disrupting her web of traps/not giving her a chance to set up. No traps = No easy downs

No easy downs = No hooks to camp.

I play a lot of Hag, and I try to keep traps away from hooks for the most part. Good survivors tend to just play to outlast me, trigger traps through walls etc. She's not a bad killer, but her time in the sun is long gone thanks to the healing meta.

  • I don't get it.

Suiciding is basically just a BM. You're denying the killer rank and BP because they had the audacity to start winning.

You saying that 'CoH is garbage' is contradicting some of the best, most prolific players in the world, who still rate it as one of the most powerful survivor perks in the game. Now - yes - this is partially an AFA, but my point stands.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2953745#Comment_2953745

I'm not though. You're saying demo and pinhead both painfully telegraph what they're doing. And I'm saying nurse also telegraphs what she's about to do. None of that matters. As long as you play it right.

A lot of people dodge when they think youre going to shred. Only to cancel the shred and get an easy m1 because they thought you would try. A lot of people hug walls and leave theirself no room to dodge at loops.

Hell...That's like saying because victor telegraphs he's about to pounce. That it matters. A decent twins player will get that victor hit regardless.

    Sigh.

No, I'm saying that it's a bigger deal that Demo and Ceno telegraph their abilities, because the penalty for them whiffing is way more severe than Nurse or Huntress.

Yes, you can mindgame and zone with Shred, but like all mindgames, it's never going to be consistent, because if they call your bluff you've lost a lot of distance. Demo isn't prenerf Slinger.

Even great Twins players (Otz immediately comes to mind) whiff with Victor a fair bit. But him getting kicked isn't a massive deal, because A. their power allows them to slug into crazy snowballs, which Ceno and Demo can't do as easily and B. it's way harder to dodge a pounce than it is to dodge a chain.

You know, I think we should play SWF together. You seem to live in a wonderful alternative reality, and I think your reality is better than mine. If you assume my MMR is ridiculously low and that's why I get potatoes, let me just agree with you, with the exception that every single killer I get is a sweatlord with around 4-6k hours. It must be me that, somehow my MMR gets me survivor potatoes with sweatlord killers.

CoH is good in a team that knows how to make use of it. Otherwise , it is garbage .

    CoH is garbage.

Yeah, I think we might indeed live in very different realities...

And no, you aren't literally facing 4-6k hour killers every match - because not even the highest MMR streamers face 4-6k hour players every match. There really aren't all that many players like that.

  • @BrokenSouI said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2953728#Comment_2953728

Shred is no different then hatchets. Most people hear/see you. To the point they either dodge their self in to the hit. Or commit and get hit. No problems getting shreds or chains.

Also...Nurse painfully telegraphs what she's doing too. Does it matter ? Nope

What does Nurse have to do with it? Nurse can sustain her blinks. Huntress has multiple hatchets. Dodging one isn't a big deal.

Pinhead missing a chain sets him back miles. It's way worse as Demo, due to the huge recovery incurred when you miss a Shred and hit an object.

    You're comparing apples to orangutans.

  • @Sumnox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2953696#Comment_2953696

Ah yes, CoH. That perk that takes 14 seconds to bless a totem, once you do find one, to then give you the ability to self care at the exact same speed of self care (only that self care has no pre-requisites) unless it's snuffed of course. That one perk that will be absolutely worthless in actual dire situations (2 people dead, 1 on hook, you're injured and need to heal, good luck finding a totem, blessing it, by the time it's blessed the person is already dead and obviously, the killer will have already found you) that totem that only truly shines now when multiple versions of them are being used by coordinated teams. Oh, right, SWF they call it.

Damn, it all seems to go back to SWF. Yes, yes, very overpowered perk indeed. I see it in my solo queue plays, maybe once every 20 matches. If that's the overpowered perk I can count on, I better only count on Deadhard then and keep my Self Care.

    ...

You know, you claim to have played this game for a long time, but you just completely missed the point of CoH, and why this perk is so damn strong.

    • It gives self care to the entire team, for the price of one slot.
    • Even post nerf, when combined with a decent medkit, it can allow you to heal ridiculously fast as a duo. I'd have to dig up the video, but there's one of Otz and his mate healing *mid chase*.
    • When sited correctly (RPD library, IWOM tower, Eyrie second floor etc.) it can cover most of the map and be such a huge time commitment to snuff that you come out ahead of the game. Remember, 14 seconds for one survivor is basically equivalent to 14x4 seconds for the killer.
    • It's extremely good in solo queue.
    • You generally don't see multiple CoH's in SWFs - one is more than sufficient.

I'm not sure what MMR you are playing at, but I see it in maybe 50% of my games as killer, and I generally don't bring it myself as survivor - because there's a better than even chance that someone else will. I always ask in pregame (ditto Kindred).

  • @BrokenSouI said:

They can though. The most important thing you can do to a 4 man is get downs. Huntress, Demo, Pinhead all excel at getting you hits that you wouldn't of otherwise(hits before or over of after pallets/windows)

Huntress - sure. She's also quite high tier.

Demo and Pinhead - absolutely not. Both have an incredibly telegraphed anti-loop/gap closer that is easy to avoid and extremely punishing for the killer if you manage it.

Yeah no, I gotta disagree big time.

The next Killer under Blight is Spirit, and without Add-Ons and maybe a good Map, she can't beat a good 4man

Spirit is only really good with the MDR+Blossom combo, which is an iri and an ultra-rare. Without them, she's...iffy.

I'd reckon Artist is much more consistent, and I'd probably put Plague up there too.

It's also probably going to necessitate a tweak to some Nurse and Blight addons.

My guess is that we'll see it later this year, and the anniversary being more along the lines of solo queue status icons, tweaks to the grind and maybe some more SBMM changes. There's an outside chance that the facecamping changes will come too.

Alright, so the answer is, as I indicated, nothing.

The future is the future, and remains to be seen. My hopes and trust in this studio is 0.

No, the answer is - SBMM, and the previously announced status icons, as a start.

You asked a question and I answered it. Solos have gotten help, and will receive more help in the future - as confirmed by the developers. You shifting the goalposts to 'well, I don't believe them' is immaterial. For all we know, the servers could be destroyed in a meteor strike tomorrow. But we need to proceed as if they won't, otherwise all feedback is pointless.

  • @Sumnox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2953618#Comment_2953618

Can you mention those "very overpowered perks that make the rest pale in comparison" putting aside Deadhard, that you very evidently seem to think guarantees a win when you slot it?

But here's how your bias comes in strong. It can also be done the other way around. Let's finally fix Nurse and Blight, and once the dust settles we can look at Deadhard and ask, is this perk necessary anymore? What's the state of solo queue? Are we doing anything to make it a fair experience after 6 years? And now, how is killer looking?

There is only 1 huge universal issue: Survive With Friends. It tips the balance out of control for everyone, it makes certain killers hard to play, and it makes certain playstyles mandatory. But then let's apply that to the whole playerbase.

You are punishing 99% of players for what a 1% can achieve (very sweaty tryhard 4 man premade) thus making it a miserable experience for 99% of the players of your game.

Guarantees a win? No, don't put words in my mouth.

But sure. CoH immediately comes to mind.

You can nerf Nurse and Blight, but that's a separate issue. This game isn't balanced around Nurse and Blight, and even at higher MMRs, you aren't literally seeing only these two killers. DH on the other hand is omnipresent from intermediate MMR to the highest MMR.

Yes, SWF is a problem and adding it made balancing far more difficult, but you aren't going to get rid of SWF, so we need to live with it.

You don't need to be in the top 1% of players for SWF to be a problem. BHVR have stated before that - even looking at the game as a whole - SWF makes a huge difference in escape rates, and I can attest that when I play killers, even a group of intermediate survivors are much scarier in a SWF than they would be alone.

  • @Sumnox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2953630#Comment_2953630

I probably started playing killer before you. So spare me the lecture. And I probably have a lot more hours than you do, because I do have too many. So I do care about killers, because I play killer. It is universally known solo queue is the butt of the joke every time and it's always killers vs SWF.

But tell me, what is Behaviour adding (and when, it's been years) to help me out in my solo queue matches?

You have 2 choices to pick from : Nothing or Nothing.

    What one is it?

As the late, great Terry Pratchett once said 'my bum has been a bum for a very long time, but that doesn't mean anything it says is worth listening to' :).

Unless were talking about something very specific, the persuasiveness of your opinion as opposed to mine is not influenced in the slightest by our relative hours played.

But sure, that's an easy question to answer.

SBMM was designed to help this, and from my own experiences - it has. It's not perfect, but it's certainly better than it was.

In terms of the future - BHVR are adding pretty comprehensive status icons to survivors, which will let solos know who's being chased, who's working on gens, who's going to unhook, if the person on the hook is being camped etc.

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2953618#Comment_2953618

In tournaments, that's not true. Even low tier killers have been show to be able to compete in tournaments. Scott Jund made several videos shows tournaments where low tier killers were getting 2k/2e on average.

With DBD, you can't wait and see. Look at the key "rework" that was suppose to happen after the hatch rework, yet survivors still have 11 useless items in their bloodweb because no rework ever happened.

Yes, those tournaments you're talking about generally have some pretty hefty restrictions on how powerful the SWF can make themselves. Some only allow 1 medkit. Others don't allow duplicate perks.

I'm talking about the no-holds barred tournaments. Otz talks about this a fair bit.

  • @Sumnox said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2953611#Comment_2953611

I simply don't care about all of this. I buy a game, I wanna play a game, if I require to have 3 other sweaty friends to be able to play a match, it should advertise it on the cover (not recommended for solo players). You either make it group based only, or you give me the tools to have a chance against being camped or tunnelled. Otherwise I'm not playing the game. So as long as I have the tools to counter being camped or tunnelled, through perks or base mechanics, and my solo queue is (though hard) playable, I can be fine with it. Make Dead by Daylight SWF only, and you will only play against SWF.

Well, sure. And that's the Pandora's Box that BHVR opened when they added SWF. The game now has to be balanced around SWF, which sort of messes over solos. Otherwise, you're messing over killers. There are three sides here, and one is going to suffer.

Which is why BHVR are adding some changes to help out solos, while also buffing killers.

And yes, I get that you don't care about killer players and that your interest is entirely selfish here. But the game cannot be balanced around your desire to rock killers with ease in solo queue. This game also has to be balanced in a manner that allows killers a reasonable chance to win - and as long as SWF exists - it has to be a factor in this balancing equation.

  • @Munqaxus said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2952330#Comment_2952330

The Nurse is already way broken, you can't remove the only perk that can counter her. Also, DH is the only perk that allows survivors to make BT saves against face campers. On top of those 2 issues, there's also the one-hit-downs, that only DH can counter.

As much as killer-mains want to remove DH, there's a lot tied to DH that would need to be addressed.

At the absolute highest MMRs, or tournaments, a kitted out Nurse comes out about even with a kitted out SWF.

She's also the only killer that can really do this.

If DH is nerfed, Nurse will likely need to see a few addon tweaks...and maybe Blight's too. That's about it. But let's nerf DH and see how things look when the dust settles, because this game isn't balanced around the absolute highest MMR and the best killers - and DH utterly destroys a bunch of weaker killers (Trapper immediately comes to mind).

We can talk exclusively about Deadhard and whether or not it needs to change (it doesn't), because it is currently one of the only few counters to ridiculously broken and uncounterable mechanics (Omegablink Nurse, exploit Blights) and it's the only perk making solo queue playable in high mmr when you face those situations.

Deadhard isn't any problem, and it is in fact a (possibly bad, but that's all we have) band-aid we need to make those matches playable. Just like DS is one of the few things we have against constant tunnelling and camping in solo queue. I'm not going to play a game just to be an excuse for you to feel like you can play, if I'm not guaranteed to have a chance to play the game.

The fact you see it on every survivor isn't because it's broken, but because the alternatives are too weak. Big difference.

Nobody talks from objectivity - but that doesn't mean we shouldn't try to. Which is what I usually do.

I'm just pointing out that if you have to resort to whataboutism, you're conceding the point. Yes, Nurse needs a few of her addons tweaked, as does Blight. But that's another discussion entirely - and one we can have after DH is fixed, and the dust settles.

    Know why?

This game isn't balanced around Nurse and Blight. DH absolutely destroys a whole lot of other killers, particularly weaker ones. It can still eat killer powers, bypass Trapper traps and far too often operates as an extra health state for survivors.

'Too weak' is relative. Survivors have plenty of good perks - but they are overshadowed by a handful of others so strong that not having them equipped is basically playing the game wrong. That's not healthy.

  • @pieces200368 said:

I can handle the face camping but everyone should be able to play and earn their points too most of these killers are over powered and don't need to tunnel

    Hahaha what?

There are maybe...two killers that are overpowered - and even then, at the tourney level, they come out at about even with the stronger SWF teams.

The rest range from 'good' to 'terrible'.

    @pieces200368 said:

I do notice that if you leave the game and then watch the rest of that game they stop the tunneling

Well, duh. They've now succeeded in their goal of removing someone early.

    @Sumnox said:

It's always been this way, but ever since they nerfed DS it's gotten noticeably worse.

It's always been this way because...that's how this game is played at higher levels, and this trickles down to everyone else. Ie. the meta.

Against a good SWF, if you don't get someone out by the time 3 gens are done, you've probably lost. Again - go watch some tournaments or higher MMR streams.

It's not the killer's responsibility to distribute damage across the team. It's your responsibility to play cautiously, and your allies' responsibility to protect you.

Hag is definitely bugged. You hear the audio of her traps going off no matter where you are in the map. It sounds somewhat muffled when it isn't you but still gives me a heart attack each time I hear it go off🤪

Her traps are also supposed to yoink the camera of whoever triggers it, unless you're running a specific addon. But this stopped working...I think in the Onryo patch, and has never been fixed AFAIK.

There's so many unhealthy things that shouldn't be in the game, but they are. You want to make it all about Deadhard because it's the one thing bothering you particularly. It's not the one thing that bothers me in particular, so you cry about that one, and I'll cry about different ones.

Except that, again, this is nothing but whataboutism.

We can talk about the other things that probably need a tweak - but jumping into every discussion of one thing and going 'oh but what about that other thing' is pointless.

Dead Hard is just a problem ability that never should have stayed the way it is. The fact that you see it on literally every survivor you face after a certain point definitely indicates that it's too strong.

I'd say more Mid-Chapters to fix game issues.

Hello People of Fog. We wanted improve our base game and that's not so easy. So we decided to do not release any new chapter for 6 months. We will improve game with 6 Health-Chapters (one each month).

    • SBMM further improved.
    • Solo queue buffed.
    • A huge addon pass for about half the killers.
    • All C and D tier killers buffed to A or B tier level.
    • A bunch of map reworks.
    • Grind nerfed.
    • Stronger penalties for habitual AFKers and DCers.
    • Player endorsement system to curb the ridiculous toxicity of this community.
    • DH changed.
    • Replays.
    • The other side given a more generous compensation when someone DCs or suicides.

That would be a good start for me.

A 1v4 game, anyone would think that the 1 player would be much more powerful than the 4 right? Well not in dbd, here the 4 players are the power role and are favoured by the devs in such a way that they hold the power to "bully" the killer into oblivion. Maps designs always favour them, they get second chances to fix their mistakes and their objective (doing gens) is much faster than the killer's (hooking survivors). The killer who is always out of time has to do secondary objectives (breakable walls and snuffing boons) lol. Now the killer role is so trashed and feels so stressful that very few people wanna play it, which has increased survivor queue times massively. So making survivors the power role really backfired for Behavior eventually didn't it? It was only a matter of time. They kept favouring the majority (survivors) but forgot they NEED killer players to have dbd.

I'm not sure if it's that simple.

At lower MMRs, the killer is the power role for sure. As skill levels rise, survivor becomes the power role, especially with SWF in the mix. At the absolute highest MMRs, playing the best killers, killer and survivor are about even.

The problem is that the game has a 'blind RNG' nature, where you can basically win or lose games before they even start. A kitted out Nurse or Blight versus a bunch of randos with meme builds - the killer will likely dominate. A full SWF with meta perks and offerings against a Pig - the survivors will dominate.

    That said:

This number is complete rubbish - it's massively offset by new players. By your logic, Nurse needs a significant buff, because her gross kill rates are really low.

    What needs to happen is:

    • Buffing most killers up to 'A' tier.
    • Giving solo survivors help, to bring them up closer to SWF levels.
    • SWF getting an SBMM tweak, so that SWF teams are matched against better killer players to offset the incredible bonus that coordination and communication provide.
  • @kizuati said:

Behavior is hyping out the anniversary broadcast a ton. But,even if theoretically, they announce large sweeping change to balance and actual graphics options, updates to general QoL in tons of places. What's the point?

With their current release schedule it's going to arrive (If even that! I see you mori changes and like half the things we were ever promised) 6 months later. I refuse to believe that the developer team does not have to competence to make sweeping changes to perks, tweaking their values just to see the feedback and have a fast turnaround of patches. Smaller dev teams on bigger games produce patchnotes orders of magnitudes larger than DBD with complicated changes.

And don't get me wrong,it's AMAZING that the developers are not crunched and that BHVR is hailed as one of the best workplaces ever. That's incredible in today's day and age. However that's not really an excuse to release dozens of absolutely broken patches with horrible out of touch changes.

Even if the team actually tried to do a heath YEAR. How long would it take them to make any kind of changes? Look at the 5.5.0 midchapter. What were the changes? DMS got buffed? Boil Over got a new effect and Nurse was buffed. Oh,right, they also thought the tweak Buckle Up needed was a range buff and Coup De Grace was too strong at release.

It's not that midchapters have to be like 5.3.0. It's that those should come out twice as often. I keep finding myself thinking that if only two mid-chapters were one,or maybe a mid-chapter was included every chapter,DBD would progress a helluvalot more. They have the manpower to do it. Their game would prosper, but they don't because there is no point with the competition they have,I guess.

So in conclusion. Behavior either needs to change and introduce changes to the game way more frequently, like any other half-competent game development studio. Or continue down the path that they're headed now. Maybe do some NFTs.

    I'm hopeful.

If they go through with the promised 'we will be helping solo queue out and then buffing killers to compensate' measures, that alone would be extremely welcome. Add on the grind reduction and other QOL changes, and I'll certainly be happier.

Yes, changes are implemented at a glacial pace here and I do wish they took a few more chances, but I'm still having fun and it is what it is.

Survivors dont seem to enjoy each game. Every now and then someone kills themself on hook for one reason or another, and this is becoming increasingly common.

What are the reasons for it?

    ...Getting?

I'm taking a short hiatus right now to work on some other important IRL tasks - but I saw plenty of this before.

    It's generally someone who:

    • Is frustrated and wants to end the game as soon as possible, to get to a better game.
    • Is salty that they got downed first, or made a mistake.
    • Is attempting to smurf their MMR down for easier matches.

Solo queue and buffed legion is hell. I'll probably take a break until I see the next patch.

Legion is a problem killer, but short of a complete rework (which is never, ever going to happen), you'll just have to learn to live with him. Spread out, loop him, get comfortable with being injured.

This is more of a 'solo queue needs help' issue than a 'nerf Legion' issue - and you're getting solo queue help, probably in the anniversary update.

  • @Name_Unavailable said:

Then nerf anti-loop killers too. Would you agree? Asking to nerf DH when we have Nurse, Spirit, Blight, Artist, Nemesis. etc... Is not fair.

Also spoiler alert: After making DH useless, You all will complain about that everyone is using Spirt Burst.

What? No. That's silly and basically just whataboutism.

DH isn't just a problem because it's overpowered - it's a problem because this one ability dictates the meta at higher MMRs and it's just not healthy for the game as whole.

    @Sumnox said:

But then they will ask for Sprint Burst to be nerfed too. Do you think there's a logic or limit to it?

I am getting so many players using VPNs now it's ridiculous. Probably around 5 times a day I'm getting matched with players that have 150+ ping and when it's the killer it ruins the game.

According to BHVR themselves using a VPN is cheating. Under the game rules for permanent bans it lists: "Using 3rd party software or other tools to gain any kind of unfair advantage that wasn’t intended by the game, except if they have been whitelisted by us."

There are more than just hackers in this game, cheaters are everywhere and it's so hard to play now.

BHVR themselves recommended that everyone use a VPN after the IP hack issue.

It wasn't that long ago where people found a way to peel someone's IP out of the game.

i mean this is coming from the same company that decided participating in the crypto grift was a good idea and didn't add basic accessibility settings to dbd for literal years so why am i even surprised anymore

Because, as far as I know - at the time, these were just that.

    Allegations.

The only thing an allegation should cause is an investigation. Otherwise you start running into situations where an accusation carries the same power as guilt, and that's a bad thing.

  • @Chordyceps said:

This is something that occurred to me just yesterday when I was playing some survivor. I was brining boon perks with me, and playing against a Sadako that could regularly inflict blindness on me with an addon. This actually ended up becoming a noticable problem for me, as I wasnt sure where the boons were as a result, since I was in Lery's. This significantly reduced the use I got out of me and my teams boons.

So for killers, blindness can be a decent counter to boons. It wont stop them from going up, but if survivors havent memorized where boons are, blindness can stop them from knowing where to run to to gain their benefits. The person who put the boon up will likely remember where it is, but the other three players will potentially be less fortunate.

I've never really had problems finding totems - Lery's has a couple of spots that almost always spawn.

The core issue though is that this doesn't work against SWF, and since SWF is a thing - the game sort of needs to be balanced around it.

    Title.

Mine would be some polishing to Twins, Ghostie, and Slinger to make them less clunky and nicer to play as.

I'd also like changes to perks such as Resurgence and Solidarity to account for the new Hemorrhage, and for Dead Hard to be tuned down a peg.

Most of all though, I really want any form of advanced graphics settings such as disabling Anti Aliasing.

    Ooh.

Frankly, I don't especially care about new killers at this point - this game needs huge help in other areas.

    For killer

    • Buffs to Onryo, Pig, Trickster, Ghostface, Wraith, Trapper and Myers.
    • PH and Freddy's addons reworked.
    • Certain maps (The Game, Cowshed, Swamp, Eyrie) made a bit less obnoxious.

    For survivor

    • Solo queue buffs (baseline Kindred, sans the killer aura reading and the new status icons should be a big help).
    • Something to prevent facecamping.
    • Rank scoring reworked slightly to make sitting on gens less of a hard requirement for pipping.

    For everyone

    • MMR backfill issues fixed

I'm taking a break from killer until it's fixed, but there's now a spot that's easy to access for survivors where you are invulnerable, and it's being abused by at least 1 person every game.

  • Here's the problem.

This community isn't just toxic, it's become basically radioactive - and having no DC penalty actually makes things worse, as people will DC and ruin the game for everyone else the second something doesn't go their way, or just because.

I agree that this community needs some reason not to treat each other so horribly, but this isn't it.

Killer: Legion. I get bollocked out for playing them, despite them honestly being pretty weak.

  • @Laluzi said:

It's an endless cycle. Survivors act cocky as they trounce a killer, the killer gets tilted and takes their frustrations out on the next batch of survivors, those survivors get a complex about killers being jerks and treat their next killers like crap, those killers get tilted... and so on. It's a chicken and egg thing; impossible to tell where it started, will continue on forever.

Best you can do is recognize that players aren't a hivemind and try to keep a level head instead of throwing in the towel and going "screw it, all survivors get facecamped" or "screw killers, all killers get BM." Use whatever builds you want to and handle the players you meet on a case by case basis. Personally I just save my bitchiness for survivors that act provocative and play how I'd like to play against everyone else. There's always bad apples, and unfortunately there's a lot of them here, but I've had plenty of good games with survivors that were chill or friendly in postgame chat, and a lot of players thanked me for spreading hooks, giving hatch, allowing glyphs, etc. You lose out on those kinds of interactions if you meet toxicity with toxicity and assume your opponents deserve to have a bad time before they do anything to earn it.

The #1 thing that burns me out on this game is the community, for very much these reasons. It's completely septic - if I'm playing killer, it's almost guaranteed that I'll have survivors acting the fool at some point and if I'm playing survivor, I'll be hit on hook and bled out with knockout for literally no reason. It's all I can do sometimes not to become toxic myself.

  • @Mandy said:

That's like saying you have your own individual chests in the game if you bring a cut coin.

Challenges are there to be a challenge, I do not see it as "stealing someone elses glyph" at all.

The issue is more that survivors are expected to cooperate, and then throwing in objectives pitting them against each other is really only going to lead to hard feelings - and potentially people giving up or throwing the match to even the score.

And...no, I don't think the ontological argument works here. Very few of the challenges are 'challenging' - most of them are just a bit tedious or RNG. There's nothing challenging about 'cleanse 10 totems' or 'be chased by the killer for 120 seconds'. It's just a matter of time.

  • @[Deleted User] said:

The replies here are bizarre to me. The game isn't winnable if teammates are going down in rapid succession to a killer OP ran for 2 gens. What is the point in unhooking? It extends an unwinnable game. The killer would have to be wildly incompetent to lose if they have that much hook pressure

It comes down to whether you are going to take a gamble on turning a tough game around (and allow your teammates a crack at victory) or whether you are going to let them die for a slightly better chance at a personal victory.

I've won (and as killer, lost) games in this exact scenario - 1 gen left, I get a big burst of pressure but the survivors unhook, run me a bit and I end up with a 1k rather than a 4k.

I wouldn't cuss the OP out in postgame (unless I'm having a really bad day) but I would definitely be annoyed. It comes down to being selfish versus being sportsmanlike.

They also made it possible for survivors to reveal independetly, while previously only one could and it would block the others from initiating the reveal.
