It's not. It's a 4 v 1 game. So stop complaining if a killer has strong anti loop powers.
It's an APVP game, meaning it doesn't really fit into a neat paradigm. It's like lots of little 1v1 matches happening in sequence.
@Shaped said:
I don't even know why people are against strong killers. I played survivor more than killer and I am still not opposed to that idea.
Watching even experienced killers get bullied and struggling is ridiculous imo but it is what majority wants it to be I guess.
Personally I dislike it. I wouldn't mind dying in 80% of my games no matter how good I am. I want killers to be intimidating.
It's the main thing that usually results in me burning out and quitting.
The solo role in an APVP game is classically the 'power' role.
In DbD, survivors are the power role. The killer is the one that is permanently time-crunched and pressured to make things happen, as survivors can win by essentially holding a button otherwise.
The problem is that this has been the case since word go, and now every survivor goes into a game expecting to escape (which is why survivors DC so often the second you hook them, and why BHVR has to treat survivor perks with kid-gloves, while taking a flamethrower to entire killers).
Yeah, I'm bitter. Can you tell?

Stop? That's easy. MMR being busted, and me getting roflstomped and gloated at by sweaty SWF after sweaty SWF. Which is why I'm taking a break until the bugfix patch.
Stop permanently ? If BHVR nerfed Hag, Pinhead, Wraith (oh wait), Doctor and Demo.
Although another map or two as awful as RPD would certainly make me consider it.

But they have to keep it hidden, otherwise people will know how to abuse it! Right now players have no idea what they are supposed to do to decrease or increase their MMR deliberately, so keeping it hidden makes total sense! It's not like devs have explained on their stream exactly what action increase and decrease MMR, so players can only guess, and by no means they can come up with a way to deliberately drop it.
Except...they've told us how. MMR is based on escapes as a survivor, and kills as a killer.
As a survivor, you just get killed. Or better yet, DC. Which is why before this patch you'd routinely see a survivor run directly to you as soon as they see you, then suicide on hook.
As a killer, you let survivors escape (tedious and time consuming, but I can see really dedicated smurfs botting it or something).

I must agree that I do feel like something is off as well. Every game seems to have two really, really weak links and two incredibly good players with the Killers being seemingly random in terms of skill. And this has been rather consistent, to the point where as a Killer I've been able to call those two players out with ease. I ignored it as me trying to find a pattern in a system too flawed to have any, but it's interesting to hear more people feel that something's wrong.
Yes!
I've seen this too.
It's always 3 crazy good players and 1 absolute newcomer (no perks, no idea what to do), 4 crazy good players in an SWF or sometimes 1 good player and 3 potatoes.
Like...I'm a low-intermediate killer main. I've got under 200 hours invested, and a lot of that has been fooling around.
There is absolutely no reason why I should be getting matched up against PC SWF groups with 1-2000 hours each.
The really weird things:
- Up until yesterday, MMR felt pretty good. The occasional baffler of a game (I'm guessing it's people who deliberately tanked their MMR down) but even games where I didn't get 2 kills felt winnable. As of yesterday, it's been a frustrating madhouse.
- Yesterday, my 'good' killers were still getting decent, intermediate games. I tried learning Demo and got crushed by far, far better players (than on my mains) for over a dozen games, pretty much back-to-back. The only times I even came close to winning was when someone DCed the second I downed them.

Give us an idea of what range our mmr is in like most other games, keeping it hidden sucks, you don't need to give us our exact value just a range, how can we claim we are top mmr or high mmr when no one even really knows if they are or not
I'd love to see my MMR, as since yesterday something has been spectacularly squiffy about the match-ups I've been getting.
Either I've been playing god-tier games without realizing it (and am thus being matched up against sweaty SWFs with 10x the hours I have invested) or something is broken.

This needs to change it's not fun going against or even playing because how these strats mess up solo Q
Okay, a few things.
- This isn't an MMR issue. Killers do this at all MMR levels. I know that, unless you've been a bastard to me, I'll usually let people unhook as it's more BP for both of us.
- That said, MMR seems totally busted as of yesterday. I'm getting tons of fully stacked 2000+ hour PC SWF groups rocking meta perks and fancy addons, so I can only infer that lower MMR survivors are getting inappropriate killer match-ups. I'm taking a break until the first bugfix patch, to see if things even out again. Perhaps consider doing the same.
- These sorts of achievements (I'm guessing it's an Adept) are very difficult, by design. Just be glad you aren't playing killer though - it's infinitely worse. At least you can luck into an Adept on survivors...

In a game where Badham exists? No rpd is not the worst
Badham can be rough, but I'm not sure if you've run into a team that knows how to abuse the office infinite (it's right in the middle of the map, so it's incredibly easy to head there whenever you are chased) and the 2 gens that you can 100% before the killer can get there, even if he starts heading over the second the game starts.
Badham's big problems are that one silly fence with the stupidly safe vault, and the 'free' gen in the basement.

"I think soloQ should get buffs" - Dino7281
Yeah, it helps your argument, if you ignore what else I said before...
Edit: It's true that it's just way easier to gain MMR as SWF. I don't think it's because SWF are OP or anything like that, yeah free info helps a lot, that's true, but best thing is that you can choose your teammates, so you just ignore matchmaking and you are can actually rely on your teammates.
SoloQ needs buffs in form of info that is easily shared by SWF, so that gap is not that huge. Either some passive info, I can elaborate if you wanna, I made even post about it before, or just chat wheel would help. I am like 90% killer main, so those buffs are really not for me. I just want soloQ buffs, so high MMR is not SWF only.
This would have to be accompanied by a massive buff to killers, which would cause all sorts of problems.
The problem isn't SWF in-and-of-itself. It's that, unlike a lot of other games, there is no MMR adjustment when you play in an SWF.
Usually, there is a scaling adjustment (say, 1.1x for a 2man, 1.3 for a 3 man, 1.6 for a full team) to ensure that these groups run into a proportionally better opponent, to offset the benefits. There are also measures in place to detect and punish people who tank their MMR deliberately to abuse less skilled players.
This means that there are more MMR appropriate killers for solo players to go against and everyone has a better time.
In DbD, especially right now (the patch broke something with MMR), it's kind of a crap-shoot.

That's nice of ya, I personally can't resist drilling into them when they drop the ball.
Honestly I think it's because I literally grew up on multiple games they developed in the past (Jersey Devil, Bugs Bunny, The Grinch, etc.) and used to be pretty positive about this game when it first came out in 2016. Even if this game's success caught them with their pants down, there's just been so many public relation mistakes in conjunction with errors in general game design, balance, etc for the last 5 years that I think have just made me gradually more bitter.
Even then though, I still like this game and want it to do better.
Hopefully things will return to being fun for you and others (myself included) and one day we'll see less disasters akin to this patch.
We'll see.
The problem is that I have a sort of inertia, in that when I quit something it tends to be long term (aside from smoking, but that's a different matter). Games in particular.

There is a reason why people skip TTV lobbies.

I mainly get bullied when a survivor or survivor group believes they can bully a killer for free and expect the game to progress normally. After slugging them a couple times they stop bullying you. Often times they don't want to play after that.
This only works when you are up against survivors that you stand a chance against.
Mostly, when randos or people of a similar skill level attempt to bully, they leave themselves open for a good smack.
When it's an SWF group with thousands of hours between then up against you and your sub-200 hours, and they just walk all over you - that's when it's really annoying. Because these groups are always the absolute peak of BM.

They disabled the offerings to avoid people from purposely going to those maps using totem builds, to abuse those bugged spots.
I hope this gets fixed soon, because right now it's either RPD/Haddonfield offering hell, or a map with uncleanse-able totems. And there is at least one Mikaela per game, sometimes two right now.
Something also feels very squiffy with MMR at present. Either the removal of the DC penalty is letting coordinated groups smurf their MMR down really fast, or something was changed/disabled/broken behind the scenes.

Yup. Why?
I understand the mindset. You get into a loop where you go 'okay, let me get one decent game in so I can end today on a good note'. Then it's 4am and you are getting told to uninstall, because the games full in the postgame lobby by another ridiculous PC SWF with 4000 hours between them.
Eventually it reaches critical mass and it's either take a long break, or attempt to detonate the entire internet by sticking a grenade between your butt-cheeks and jumping onto a laptop.

@Beaburd said:
I think the company is doing fine, personally.
They only had a few hiccups around this patch when you think about it.
For example:
- Game crashes related to their big debut perk (circle of healing)
- Infinite loading screens
- Uncleansable boon totems
- Multiple maps disabled
- People disconnecting left and right due to removed penalties
- The original denial of being involved NFTs, following by a tweet saying they've been working for months with Boss on them
- The outcome of the NFT images (LOL)
- Long-standing members of the forum community banned or leaving
- Lackluster Halloween event after claiming they're canceling all other events to make them better a year ago
- Hackers ruining general gameplay
- Hackers holding people hostage in games
- Hackers interfering with the report system to bypass it
- Hackers taking control of their discord, with people apparently being held hostage in there and hackers using the N word in these official channels
- Terrible optimization problems, as per usual
- The treatment of some killers this patch (varies from person to person)
- Few to no response from the developers on any of these issues for extended periods of time
Wouldn't be surprised if I missed a few either.
I think they've done a pretty good job so far this time around.
---
Edit 1: Oh, forgot to add the following:
- Terrible new character images (David's bee-stung face in particular)
- The new perk names for the Stranger Things Content
- The outright removal of the Hawkin's map offerings with no compensation
- The early removal of the Stranger Things cosmetic store
I try not to give the devs too hard of a time, as nobody expected DbD to become and remain as popular as it did. Sort of a case of a moose winning a sportscar.
Until this patch though, it really felt like the game was in a spot where I could really enjoy it. I'm an...older gentleman, with crap reflexes and eyesight - and MMR meant that I'd be put up against survivors of a similar level.
Whatever's happened though, be it the removal of the DC penalty or the MMR system being suspended (I still remember when they disabled killer matchmaking entirely for months because red-rank survivors were complaining about queue times) - something is completely busted right now.
-

I have no idea what's going on.
Last night, my 'new' killers were running into the SWFs, but my 'good' killers were still having decent matches.
Now it's just nuts.
I think one of 3 things happened.
- Due to the connection problems, survivor queues got silly long again so they disabled matchmaking to speed it up.
- Matchmaking was disabled to try and stop the connection issues. I think one of these is the most likely, as suddenly my queues are instant but the matches are terrible.
- High level survivors are abusing the removed DC penalty to smurf their MMR down rapidly to stupidly low levels.
Either way, sick of this.

Hmm, so maps I used for adepts:
Dead Dawg Saloon with most killers
Léry's Memorial Institute / Hawkins National Laboratory (Stealth killers)
Midwich Elementary School (Hag)
Autohave with ranged killers (short loops I can shoot over), The MacMillan Estate worked too, but this one is random (some are better, some are worse)
DDS was a good killer map, but there are multiple spots where survivors can put boon totems now that you can't cleanse. And it's being abused *every single game* when I go there.
Lery can be good on some killers, yeah.
NHL really depends on survivors. There are two absurdly safe gens that, if they save them until later, makes it very frustrating.
Yeah, Hag, Nurse, Freddy and to a lesser extent Demo tend to be okay on most maps because they can ignore verticality to some degree. The only real exception are certain indoor maps that glitch out Nurse's blinks.
Ah, didn't consider Autohaven as I'm not one for ranged killers. On M1 killers, I call it 'Pallethaven'.

- Ghostface - his power is bugged, he somehow makes you exposed in a second and is not getting snapped out even if you were clearly looking at him the whole time
- Huntress - somehow she ALWAYS goes towards you within the first second of trial, + she has broken hatchet hitboxes that haven't been fixed for 5 years already, makes you want to DC after every bs hit
- Twins - annoying victor who has no terror, broken spinechill detection and also broken hitboxes, also they only ever slug and camp
- Nemesis - annoying zombies, broken whip hitbox, and for some reason people who play them only tunnel
- Demogorgon - broken leap hitbox, and also people who play him only tunnel, the reason for this behavior is beyond me
- Pinhead - annoying chains

The Ghostface thing is probably a situation where he 99%'ed you previously, and you had a bad latency interaction.

This game is an absolute joke.
It's...definitely better than it used to be. Still too many weak killers, useless perks and addons worse than an empty slot, but - from when I started a year ago - it's a million times better.
While it's busted (possibly disabled?) right now, MMR was a huge step in the right direction.

Yeah, killers can do it too, but it's way more rare than from survivors from my experience. I usually use offerings only for challenges and I used them for hard adepts.
I honestly can't think of a single killer/map combination that would be worth the offering. Maybe something like Gideon's on Doctor, but that's all that's coming to mind.
At best, Killers have 'okay' maps, 'rough' maps and 'swinging your mouse around like a flail of doom annoying' maps.

Just because something was handled poorly in the past doesn't mean that it should also be handled poorly in the future.
Plus, there is no 'double standard' here unless you are being deliberately disingenuous.
You are talking about a time when BHVR was a much smaller company, and was struggling to even get the basics right.

There's this scene in American Dad where a rotting corpse is driving a car with the family trapped inside, and one tells the others to fart, as that makes it smell better.

RPD hard-counters so many killers, which is why most of the offerings that aren't Haddonfield are inevitably RPD.
RPD has:
- At least 1 easily exploitable, near-infinite loop in the hub area.
- The verticality and unfairly safe gens of Haddonfield.
- The annoying mazes of Midwich.
- The tightest, windiest corridoors of any map in the game.
- Totem placement almost as bad as Autohaven.

I have always enjoyed both roles. The MMR introduction literally destroyed my Killer experience, as it forced me to use the strongest Perks just to sweat for two kills. So Killer isn't as much fun for me anymore. I still play Killer, but not as often. At first I felt like MMR had at least one good thing going for it. Solo q felt much better than before. I got a lot of different killers and honestly some pretty decent mates, but like every good thing in the world, that had to stop at some point. I don't know what MMR I'm locked into right now, but it's really hard to have fun as a survivor. I miss the days where you could just start DbD, make a fun build and have nice matches against many different killers. I haven't seen a single "low tier killer" since last month. I used to run into lovely Bubba players from time to time, but even those have disappeared lately.
I'm really happy for BHVR that this game is still growing. I think 50k people are playing on average. So the game is still doing well, even with MMR, but it seems like my personal DbD journey is coming to an end after almost 5 years.
Gonna miss you guys ( <- this is clearly a lie).
Trust me, if anything it's worse on the killer side of things.
RPD offering into RPD offering into Haddonfield offering into RPD. Endless SWF groups with meta perks, smurfing down their MMRs to berate and abuse newcomers or less skilled people. And not a game goes by without me wondering if someone is hacking. 2 gens done within the first minute of the game, 3 done before you even see a survivor.
Ugh.
This game is like a toxic relationship that you keep coming back to.

That is strange. I played against a Doctor a couple weeks ago who brought a mori, and when he used his Static Blast a teammate D/C-ed. She didn't even get hit by it! Not sure what was going on there.
I actually like Doctors because I don't know what to expect out of them. Sometimes they're ruthless and straight-up murder all of the Survivors, and sometimes they start goofing off halfway through the game and it ends up being a lot of fun. Most of the "nice" Killers I've played against have been Doctors!
Haha I wonder if you went up against me, I tend towards being an overly nice killer at times.
That said - yeah. For some reason survivors find Doc frustrating.

Out of the last 10 matches;
Survivors were slugged, tunneled, or camped to death.
Survivors were tunneled through decisive strike and borrowed time, if it was used.
Killers slugged for the 4K.
No survivors escaped.

- Looks at thread title.
- Correctly predicts poster.
- Cannot resist bumping another Sluzzy bait thread.

I like playing against Doctor, Pyramid Head and Trickster! Myers is fun when he has Tombstone as well, and I like facing Twins occasionally.
Doctor provides fun gameplay for me and I love hearing his laugh (and my character screeching after being shocked)! Pyramid Head is my main and favorite Killer, and I like dodging his M2 (and he has great chase music). And Trickster is just cool. I really like his chase music as well and I like hearing him laugh and carry on like he does.
Interesting. Doctor seems to be the number one hate-bait killer when I play him. People sometimes DC the second I hit a Static Blast. Absolutely no idea why - he's really pretty meh.

Played a match as jump scare myers on hawkins once. The 3 man premade let the Feng I hooked die on first hook. They then proceeded to not do a single gen and just loop me... since it's impossible for me to really catch up with the add-on on. They always seemed to know where I was as well... probably hacking? They'd always move to the exit furthest away from me despite being on the other side of walls. It was literally impossible to get the jump on them and there really wasn't much I could do.
But yeah, they stopped doing gens at 1 gen left and would just do the usual stupid ######### survivors would do. I just ended up following one of them for however long it was until they decided to finish off the last gen eventually.
I still run into these sometimes (RPD...it's always RPD, as there are some essentially infinite window loops) - I just go to the hallway, pop on an episode of something I like and AFK. You want to waste my time? Waste your own damn time. Not even slightly sorry.

I had a lot of bully squads when I was new. It was 2017 and back then survivors was very inspired by Ochido - toxic dbd youtuber and streamer.
But then I get some expirience and learned their tricks and counters. And now bully squads are my favorite type of SWF. They traditionally don't do gens much and give a lot of free hits, so they die or dc pretty quickly. They are very rare in my current games though.
Most of them have figured out how to smurf their MMR down to silly levels and are busy abusing new players, sadly.

I'd say Billy because good Billy's are super fun to go against and makes for an unpredictable match and Pinhead just because I like dodging his chains. I guess nurse is fun unless it's a God tier nurse
Interesting. Pinhead gets me cussed out in postgame more than any killer that isn't Doctor.

Why so harsh? DBD has garnered a lot of criticism, and for good reason. The game runs poorly, and despite it all they still expect you to hand over your hard earned money. I've always said to each their own, but if you purposely ignore a company's faults, then you have no one to blame but yourself.
It's the digital equivalent of Crack.
Probably not good for you, and leads to wild mood swings - but dammit is it addictive when it's good.
There is the reason that it's pretty much the only APVP game that has survived. Remember Evolve? Nobody else does.

I mean, to be fair, the event doesn't really do anything.
Pumpkin kicking? A novelty with no real purpose.
The event hooks, generators, offerings, and add-ons? Probably cost you more BP than give you in the long run.
The skins from the event tome? Sure, there's a point there.
---
I agree they should extend it, but even if they don't at least there's no real loss.
The skins in particular.

1 Chain summon is great at a loop before your about to break a pallet or vault a window, it's also amazing for looking in areas like up or down stairs on multi level maps without walking there just cancel after.
2 chain hunt passivly harasses survivors great combo with ruin and thrill of the hunt and undying hard to cleanse totems do gens and do the box
3 either run franklin's or down them
4 it depends yes if your not doing anything maybe if keeping chain hunt up is important
5 his addons are great I love both irredesent and both the green and brown addons that reduce chain hunt time
Oh, Franklins. Didn't even think of that!

MMR refreshes after 3 weeks of inactivity? I didn't know that, I thought they stuck with their score until you changed it by playing a match.
Is that 3 weeks full inactivity, not playing at all, or just 3 weeks not playing a specific killer? For example, I play all but demogorgon for a month then try a demogorgon game?
I'm not sure. It was implied in a BHVR post quite some time back. I'm guessing total inactivity on a particular killer.

- It's supposed to be an anti-loop ability but it can be hard to use.
- Chain Hunt frequently opens small blue portals, then portals aim a chain right at the Survivor's current location. The Survivor can hear all of this and dodging the chains is easy. But this makes doing gens difficult to impossible. Which is why people say Pinhead has good 4v1.
- The Survivor's Chain Hunt timer should be progressing while the others are depleted and then paused. Once it hits max, they should get chains on them frequently. Which makes them easier to injure and down. You may want to ignore the person with the box until they have max chain hunt, and then chase them when they're not expecting it.
- No. This is typically a waste of time and the box is automatically solved for the Survivors if you teleport. You want to try and walk to and interrupt the Survivor with the box if you can. This is typically done by using your power to chain the Survivor before they can finish the box. If you can injure or down them, even better.
- I watch Tru3 for Pinhead gameplay and I only have my own personal experience, but the ones that increase the time to open the box make it easier to interrupt the box because you have more time to use your power + get closer to the person with the box. The ultra rare that injures healthy Survivors upon successful chain summons is great all-around as well. Gives Pinhead a ranged power, which lets him start chases with injured Survivors instead of healthy. Great for M1 Killers.
Thanks!

Honestly its the mmr probably I have to lose 7-10 matches in a row tell it feels like I get a lower caliber survivor and then they seem to really suck and I 3-4k 3 matches in a row and back to the 2-3 hook games for most of my matches.
Oh and its like a 10 minute wait to just get stomped out no wonder I've been playing survivor mostly lately.
It's been 12 matches, and I got more than 1 kill in one of those. Going to give it a rest now, maybe it needs some time to update.

When they’re picked up the player isn’t good or super toxic I don’t know why this is my experience
Or...they are on a new killer.
For some reason, NOED is one of the first perks I get on any killer when I start it.
