I sure hope it does. Triggers me everytime I get hit and see that stupid perk. Tis why up until now I ran Inner strength religiously AND sometimes botany with a medkit just in case I don't have a totem yet. ######### whatever killer and their sloppy butcher usage. Refuse to deal with it normally

    Sloppy?

What an...odd perk to get annoyed at.

He means there have been countless issues with uncleansable totems in the past, and not a single hex perk has ever been disabled. Survivors just had to deal with it. But when it's the killers who are in trouble, THEN they demand the problematic perks to be disabled. That is exactly what is called a "privilege" by definition.

    No, this is called whataboutism.

Curious to know if you have any stories of survivors being a bully and how did you handle it?

Aside from the standard flashing/teabagging/nastiness in postgame (honestly, this happens so frequently that I'm sort of dead to it): Two stories.

    • Earlier today I had a probable hacker premade. Legacy skin, seemingly permanent SB, always knows exactly where I am that refused to end the game, and instead ran around flicking, teabagging and just generally being jerks. Like...if you want to hack, fine. Just take your BP and get out.
    • Probably my most frustrating game ever was against a team of 3x Blendettes in an SWF, on Haddonfield. I managed to kill 1, and the other survivor. The remaining Blendettes simply decided to play Hide and Seek in the bushes, with 2 gens remaining, for over 60 frustrating minutes. This was before the AFK crows, and it resulted in me taking a 6 month break from DbD.

Usually I never get this map, but for some reason I've been getting Lery's almost every game now. It's kind of weird.

    So jealous.

I've had RPD 4 times in a row. Then a Haddonfield. Then a RPD offering. Then a Haddonfield offering.

While I have good experiences with TTVs and I've only run into a couple bad eggs out of dozens of games, it's not about the quality of the player, it's the attitude. TTVs have a reputation for hurling abuse (and getting their followers to harass people in their stead) and generally being and playing obnoxious to increase views.

    Yup.

I specifically privated my Steam profile after one particular game with Hag.

Three TTVs in lobby, smurfing (yes, I totally believe you are Green rank).

Way better than me, ran rings around me all game - but Hag is amazing at turning games around late. Especially when you are too busy flicking and teabagging to notice the trap behind you after you drop that pallet...

Next thing, I'm getting tons of friend requests and weird messages on Steam from his followers (by tons, I mean like 12). Turns out one of them sent his viewers over to harass me.

    I now dodge all TTVs.

Heh, beat me to the punch. As killer I love when the players try to body block me. They are now not working on gens and I am going to get some free hits and possibly down a few of them.

This. I have no idea why survivors want to play grab-ass when I'm hooking someone. All you're giving me is an easy hit, and potentially another down right after I hook.

  • @PsychoSe7eN said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/289016/why-can-survivors-body-block-the-hook-when-killers-cant

Good. ######### you killer campers. I'll answer your question by asking another. If survivors get penalties for camping, why can't killers get penalized too?

Like slowly blind the killer camping hooked survivor. Once they are fully blind, survivor is auto unhooked and undetectable for 20 seconds.

Or for camping, killer refunds the hook count, the survivor is freed and reverse that hook count too.

    ...What did I just read?

Killers get a hefty BP penalty for camping, even when we aren't actually camping (you've decided to follow me en-masse to hook and now we are playing grab-ass around it). Plus, BHVR have said that they have a plan coming to further stop facecamping.

Also - this is such a good example of a whataboutism that I need to frame it and hang it on a wall somewhere.

Your solution is silly, as all survivors would just cluster around the hook and it would be impossible to get them.

  • @ClumsyTrapper said:

Survivors have a lower MMR than killers in average because MMR only counts kills and escapes

Killers even in really bad games boost their MMR by camping one kill in the end game

This is causing good survivors who don't escape alot to get paired with lower rank killers

As for legacy assume hacker bc only .001% if players have one legacy and hackers love wearing it

Huh. I wasn't aware of that. I'll be dodging those lobbies then.

And...I'm not sure about that as we don't know how much the gains are on either end. It would be bizarre if it actually worked like that, as lowbie survivors would have endless queue times.

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2590332#Comment_2590332

Thats a pretty high density all things considered, as Mr_K pointed out, you might be higher MMR than you think as hackers naturally climb MMR by always escaping and most of them usually only do subtle stuff. The ones that are all flashy get banned.

It's absolutely impossible for my demo to have a higher MMR than my Doctor or Hag. I get 2-3k on those killers every game, sometimes a 4k. And I'm facing survivors of a similar skill.

On my demo, at most I get a 2k, usually a 1 or 0. For 11 games now.

I'm facing significantly better survivors on my demo.

    @Kurri said:

I haven't even seen one smurf account.

Here's an experiment for you then. Grab a killer you haven't played in a while (MMR refreshes after 3 weeks of inactivity). Play them and go deliberately easy for a few games. Note the perks, skins, addons etc. of the people you are up against.

Let me know what you find.

  • @Mr_K said:

What makes you think you're at low mmr?

Because I'm not very good, even on my 'good' killers. I'm pretty old, with the reflexes of a potato and bad eyes. On my good killers, I mostly play console players, running a mix of meta and character perks.

On Demo (my absolute worst, as I'm learning him) I've also been flattened in about 10 games in a row. 3-4 out, every time. By people in fully jacked SWFs.

  • @BenihimeWrath said:

Its my understanding that there is not a large community of people that have legacy skins. So if you are really facing that many unique accounts with legacy they are probably hackers.

I think in my 1000 some hours playing that I've only seen one person with it.

Hackers...huh. Possibly. That would explain a great deal. So many weird moments where someone just vanishes, heals instantly or always knows exactly where I am. Thing is - these are also absolutely not bad players. Very good looping, knows where pallets are, DHs and dodges perfectly to avoid shreds.

I'm actually seeing a lot of these legacy skins now that I think about it. At least 4 in the last 24 hours.

  • @Anara said:

Which killers whos been nerfed deserved better ? And which one deserved the nerfs for you ?

I think Pyramid Head was better when he could see the cages and was more fluid to play. He was strong, where he should be.

The Twins deserved the nerf. I play them and they are still killing machines.

Freddy deserved better. Yes he was very strong, but now he dont have enough dream snares and nobody play him anymore.

Spirit. It was the perfect change for her, she is now fair and still top tier killer.

Deathslinger, he deserved better. I dont play him but I dont understand why he has been change. He was totally fine.

I wont speak about all killers. It will be too long. But I want to know your opinions.

And I want the devs to reverse some nerfs, let us hear our opinions. About wrong and right changes :)

Pig. With all the awesome things that could be done with the 'Saw' theme, they turned her into an annoying M1 killer with a silly gimmick.

Pinhead. His main power feels like it's almost never worth casting, as the time you spend firing chains is basically a wash with how much time you lose on chase - and that's if you actually connect.

Nemesis. He needs 3-4 zombies. Right now, unless you are lucky and they don't get stuck in a wall somewhere, he's mostly a crap version of PH.

Doctor. Nearly perfect except for the fact that his 'shock' doesn't interrupt actions correctly at least half the time. It should break the animation if it's started as latency makes this ability so weak.

    Nerfs:

    Freddy feels gutted.

    Spirit is fine.

  • @Vyne456 said:

Let's be clear. For those people who play as killer and survivor I think the mmr sucks because it's damn stupid, and I know it's irritates those people and me too. I hate how people dc over the loading screen and I have to restart Dead By Daylight which is bad because I might get a matchmaking ban for 2 or 13 mins and then survivors just send you the most saltiest messages because you were healing somebody and a killer was just distracted and found us and downed the survivor. and that's the reason why I hate the mmr. Simple is that!

I like the system, with 2 big exceptions.

    • It needs to be more nuanced on the survivor side of things. Simply escaping at the expense of your team should not be rewarded.
    • There needs to be an algorithm to detect people abusing it and endlessly AFKing/suiciding/DCing to drop their MMR to silly levels, to stomp people. This killed SC2.

They should have increased the penalty for missed shots to 3 seconds.

If your team has people D/C and it's obvious you can't win, do not go and save teammates that are trying to kill themselves on hook. Just let them leave the match that can't be won anyway and use the opportunity to go and find the hatch.

It makes no sense whatsoever to constantly trade hooks and wind up getting both of you killed.

    Stop doing this.

There are bad people on both sides. This Killer was one of them.

  • @Junylar said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2589951#Comment_2589951

When I play survivor, I don't mind my teammates DCing, since DbD is not a sports tournament and as a solo survivor I never even hoped to escape this trial in the first place. Especially if it's something like annoying camping doctor, then I may even follow the example. And I'm yet to see another survivor genuinely complaining about DC's. I only see killer mains demanding DC penalty. And the reason is always the same: killers just want to see solo survivors suffer, and they feel frustrated when a tormented soul escapes their hell without giving them their satisfaction. And it's always the same made up justification about "ruining the game for 4 other players". No, people who DC don't ruin the game for 4 players, they just ruin the sadistic pleasure of one player.

I'm honestly not sure if this is an attempt to troll, or if your psychology is just really...skewed.

    But okay, I'll bite.

    • You are describing a caricature of a killer player that is probably an extremely fringe case. It certainly doesn't represent me, nor the majority of killers I come across when playing survivor. Most of the time that the killer gets nasty is because survivors are teabagging or flashing. Most of us just want to play the game and have fun. Hell, I frequently ease up if I'm rocking the other team to give everyone a chance to earn some BP.
    • People complain about DCs all the time. If the survivor side has a DC and I don't give them a chance, they'll whinge at me endlessly in post-game (of course, if I let them farm I get whinged at for not just ending it - ah, being a killer main...).
    • When you DC, you deny the killer BP and often a quest. You also make it nearly impossible for the other survivors to win. You seem to want to punish one specific killer, your 'camping Doctor' bogeyman - by making other players miserable. This is not a good thing to do.

If you aren't trolling here, I'd probably recommend giving the game a break and getting some counselling - not trying to be nasty, but if a recreational activity prompts this much explosive hate for other people, it probably suggests that something else is badly wrong.

I wish you all the best.

  • @Junylar said:

It's funny how only killer mains complain about DC's. DC penalty = satisfaction of killers' thirst for solo survivors' suffering.

This may be the weirdest thing I've ever read.

No, DC Penalty = survivors not trolling and griefing their team.

Why should you be able to shut 4 other people out of a good match, at will?

  • @MrCalac123 said:

I will dodge the lobby if I see 4 bloody Claudettes with Medkits and suspiciously similar names yes lol, and my game will "crash" on the loading screen if I see an offering for RPD, Haddonfield, The Game, or Midwitch.

No I am not sorry in the slightest.

Haddon I understand, and RPD can be rough on M1 killers, but why the other two?

Honestly, I find the 'corn' maps, and Swamp way more annoying.

  • @Junylar said:

MMR reduction on DC is not confirmed, and as a survivor, just dying 30 seconds into the trial will not take much longer than regular DC, although it will definitely reduce MMR. So DC is not to blame here.

And I don't know about the "killer MMR floor", but their "unique MMR per killer" is definitely BS, since it was confirmed your MMR on every killer is tied to your highest MMR among killers. To be more precise, default MMR of a brand new account is 1100, while 1900 is a hard cap (yes, there is a hard cap), and the MMR of a killer you play for the first time in your life will be about ~200 units lower than MMR of your main. That is, not much lower. This is only the starting MMR that has been confirmed, there might as well be some other dependencies, including the floor you are talking about. After learning how trashy this EBMM system is, it wouldn't be surprising.

By confirmed, you mean that thread on Reddit that turned out to be mostly false?

What is weird about tonight was that my games on my almost certainly much lower MMR Demo and Pinhead were versus much stronger survivors than my better killers, which felt like normal. This makes me suspect that it's people dropping their MMR by DCing.

    @Nayru said:

I always play at odd hours.

Again, this wasn't on all my killers. Those with probably 'middling' MMRs (my better killers) were the same as normal.

Keep in mind that a previous Fog Whisperer was later discovered to have a criminal record for...stuff involving children. Can't really say much more than this.

And yes, bonkers fringe progressive ideology isn't exactly unusual in gaming right now. Blizzard recently replaced in-game portraits of conventionally attractive women with portraits of fruit, and removed the 'pounce' and 'flirt' emotes to be more 'inclusive'. Gah.

Doctor is fine. He has solid anti loop potential being able to prevent survivors from dropping pallets or vaulting windows which is pretty nutty.

If he were to get anything I would hope it would be minor stuff / QoL changes because he really doesn't need any sort of massive buff.

I'd settle for his shock to be able to interrupt actions in progress, as it almost never works due to latency/queueing.

He also has a lot of legitimately terrible addons, some of which are worse than using nothing (most of his shape-change ones).

I feel like Dead By Daylight needs to release a killer that in every aspect, is actually scary. To most players, the majority of the killers we have now are great yes, but not exactly scary. I wish to see an original killer of their design that actually scares people. Yes, killers like Blight and Hillbilly with deformities are disturbing, but I want to see a killer that makes me, and everyone else scared. Dead by Daylight needs a spark like this to reignite the horror theme within the game, rather than just teabagging at pallets and running around carelessly because you know the killer is a Legion (as he has low lethality). Basically, I want a killer that falls into the uncanny valley, whether it be its appearance, the way it moves, its power...idk...leave your thoughts. (I also repeated myself a bit a few times, ignore that lol)

Hag, Wraith, Myers, Ghostie, Spirit and Nurse can actually pull off some great scares.

The problem is that playing survivor just isn't very...scary. It's very much the power role. If anything, I've been jumpscared more by players using IS from lockers/pallet saves than I've probably inflicted.

  • @Nathan13 said:

I dodge if I see 4 survivors of the same character wearing the same cosmetics.

Oh yeah, 4 blendettes - I'm bailing. Too many bad memories of teams playing hide-and-seek and stalling things out forever.

  • You had a latency hitch.

Killers also get these. Otz has an entire compilation video of attacks whiffing, hooked survivors drifting into the middle of the map, not being able to pick up or hook, survivors teleporting away etc.

This is going to sound harsh - but it's just a bad roll of the dice. Deliberately dropping the game because of this isn't just messing over your allies, but it's punishing the killer for something that they had no control over. If I had the power, I'd probably give you a temp ban for this. It's incredibly bad sportsmanship. It's like pitching the soccer ball over a nearby fence mid-match because you tripped.

Why do you think this is acceptable?

    No it isn't. Not really.

It grants a very petty increase to Static, a paltry BP gain (usually a few hundred max) and ensures that survivors have tons of notice to hide whenever you are nearby.

10k hours, and your first post on the forums is to say 'I've been playing for 10k hours, therefore x'? Huh.

That said, if you are losing games to full SWFs (taking smurfing out of the equation...sigh) your MMR will lower until you aren't. If you are maintaining said MMR, that means you are at least killing 2 survivors per match.

Ate a flashy save today for the first time in months. Still have no idea how it happened. Looked down and away the second I saw the light at the edge of my vision, still got stunned. Either a subtle hacker, weird latency or the flashlight equivalent of a magic bullet.

I managed to to save like that some teammates with that move by hiding right out of their FOV or bodyblocking enough to let them wiggle off. That even works on higher skilled killers sometimes, not always but sometimes.

Interesting. I think it worked on me the literal first time I saw that, and after - unless I'm stretched for time on the hook - I'll probably just swing the second I can't hook.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/289863/why-do-survivors-always-do-this

They might be fishing for protection hits. A hit while carrying a survivor always results in a protection hit event. There are three main reasons you want protection hits:

    1. To get WGLF tokens
    2. To finish a Tome Quest
    3. To activate Mettle of Man.

Yes, I was wondering if it was a PH thing - in which case...okay? But you're probably going to get downed next.

I was also wondering if the 'near a hook' penalty applies. Still don't understand how that works.

For the benefit of the OP, the proper way to do that trick is not to crouch, but just to walk calmly behind the killer, then walk into their blind spot after they hook (they will usually face back away from whoever they hooked, so you just need to slip into that side. This is especially easy to do in the basement, as you can easily predict what direction they will turn to go back up the stairs. It is one of the ways to get into the basement save position quickly without the killer realizing you are there. You go down the basement ahead of time, hide behind the stairwell wall, then walk into their blind spot then over to the back as they turn around. Works every time. Then you wait for the TR to disappear, or wait for someone else to get chased, then do the unhook.

I don't camp as a rule, so I don't mind people going for a save (hell, if you've been nice and I haven't been trounced that game, I'll probably stay clear until you are both away).

This is more the 'crouch by the hook so killer can't hook' thing, which usually just gets you smacked.

I disagree. Only a few games have these types of crowds, dbd near the top of that list.

Starcraft 2 and Warcraft 3 were infinitely worse forums wise. As was the original DOTA (haven't really looked at DOTA 2).

The WoW forums have been one long whingy dramafest lasting almost 2 decades. While shorter, Aeon and Rift were just as bad while they were a thing. Hell, the only MMO I can think of that didn't have a poisonous forum offhand is FF, and that game is notoriously overmoderated, and even asking someone politely to do a mechanic differently can get you an in-game ban.

The MKX forums were a nightmare.

    League of Legends? Smite? Woof.

Probably nothing will ever touch the EVE Online forums though for sheer insanity.

If the game wasn't broken all the time, people wouldn't complain about it being broken all the time.

You've...clearly never been on a gaming forum before :D.

I mean yes if you see them then it seems dumb from your perspective.

Just as it seems dumb that if the killer picks up a survivor in a pallet and you pallet save then as survivor.

Some moments do look very goofy and silly from one's other perspective but think that way. If that works and you didnt saw the survivor and would leave the hook they could immidiatly go for the unhook once you are out of range. Idk for me this sounds very logic that would save alot of time?

    I don't follow.

Pallet saves work, or they don't work.

The crouch/body block...I don't see how that would ever work, unless the killer is blind.

Can we get an update on what BHVR plans to do to combat the rising hacker problem?

Probably nothing. And it's...sort of understandable.

Hacks are surprisingly sophisticated now, and even massive companies like ActiBlizz with dedicated proprietary anti-cheat systems in place still have a lot of hackers.

That said, EAC is an utter joke. Several games with unofficial modding scenes have a method for disabling it included with the mods.

The root cause of toxicity cannot be solved. All we can do is protect ourselves from it. The small chance of nice comments is not worth the very likelihood of negative comments you will get from playing this game. In my opinion. So it's better to just set your profile communications to friends only/private

    I disagree.

You won't eliminate it entirely, but LoL worked wonders with the Tribunal system back in the day. That game was deep fried cancer, and within a few months it was night and day toxicity wise.

Now, DbD probably isn't big enough to justify something as elaborate and complex as the Tribunal, but some basic moderation would be a good start. Something like 'if you get reported enough times, a moderator will take a look at your account'.

Mines definitely huntress there is nothing like when your landing your hatches imo. The nurse is second.

Right now? Probably either Hag (even at intermediate MMRs, survivors panic hilariously when my clone pops up) or Demo (nothing beats popping out of a portal directly behind several survivors, and watching them reenact a Three Stooges short all trying to fit through one window).

I've not long started using legion and I have to say, they're great. Been going really well, lots of kills and quite a few 4k's. But I had 2 matches in a row tgat should've been 4k but ended up with just 1 each due to glitching. In the 1st I had 3 people hooked in basement and 4th slugged. Went to pick up slug and just could not interact with them or in fact anything. They unbreakabled up and unhooked the others and I could do nothing. This happened earlier aswell, stuck at pallets, being unable to attack when in frenzy, couldnt bring myself out of frenzy. Second game similar stuff, floating survivors who just weren't there, inability to attack or interact with the environment. I am on console but didn't have these problems previously, the only common thing was both matches had 3 mikaelas. Connected maybe?

Aside from their weird vault thing, they aren't buggy.

They are, however, jankier than the jankiest jank that ever janked. Worse than Blight even, as far as latency issues goes - at least once a game my Frenzy slashes will just whiff completely.
