  • Yeap I have a survivor stuck in a locker. It's either that or a cheat.

Or, hear me out, they could just get rid of face camping.

I love seeing the killer face camp a first hook survivor, unless that survivor is me of course. I can get a gen and a half done by myself while the killer is sitting there with his thumb up his butt. If the other survivors are also actively working on gens the gate will open in short order.

Only "fix" I could see ids dock the killer points for being within a certain range of the survivor for "x" amount of time (as long as there was not another survivor within a specific range of the hooked survivor. Could even give the poor hooked survivor "Y" amount of points for being face camped.

But over all face camping is a very bad strategy for any killer, it simply wastes too much time.

  • Hope you have found a good (new) game to play.

To be fair I didn't play that much Survivor these days but still I can't find any Pinhead killer xD

Is he rare or more common on avarage for you?

    I love playing pinhead.

How long does it take to reinstall a game on console?

Depends on the size of the game and what kind of bandwidth you are pulling.

We cannot, all we can do is uninstall then reinstall the game.

    Oh wow, that really sucks.

Good news Steam users had a fix this afternoon. Hopefully It has fixed some things. I haven't been able to play, due to work, to check it out.

Now wait a minute. I have to call you out on Pinhead. All I saw were Killers mains whining that Pinhead was too weak.

May be we were reading from different forums. The groups on FB were nothing but how OP Pinhead was and how the devs were nothing but Killer loving developers. Weeks this went on, now I rarely see anything about him.

Point is most people want to lash out when something changes in game and it throws their "game" off. Especially within this community as a whole.

  • I cant say I see the bloodweb as broken or in need of reworking. Blood points are not hard to gain and are the key to advancement, just like experience points in other games.

For me, With a combination of the tome, dailes, and matches I have not had problems "leveling up", I just have to prioritize what I am wanting to do. And right now, this month, you shouldn't have any trouble racking up BPs. We were gifted 666K just the other day and we should see a lot more in coming weeks.

I wouldn't mind though if we could sell back items for bloodpoints. Even if it were 5-10% what was paid for them as there are somethings I just will not use.

  • It's 4 v/s 1!

Survivors have to be stronger. Killer should be able to kill AT LEAST 1 or 2 every game. Have you ever actually watched a horror movie?

With so many survivor teams on comms now-a-days if anything the survivors have an advantage. Can't tell you how many games I have hit 0-4 or 1-4 for the simple fact the survivors were communicating and working together. One would run me while the others concentrated on the objectives. If I stopped chasing their bait they would readjust. I don't ######### or moan about it. That is just way things go. BTW, this is why solo player complain so much. They are automatic bait for the killer in most cases.

If your team is doing poorly you may want to readjust your strategy.

  • Had a good time in match = Win

    Other players DCd = aggravation

Other player(s) DCd but still had a good time = Win

Sure buddy. Cerified by who? Themselves.

They control the schedule. Take care.

I think what he is talking about is for changes to be certified in house by a team dedicated to QC. Most software publishers do this during each stage of production. Typically it entails a review of the code and stressful alpha testing within the overall environment.

It really does seem they are lacking this check as some of the problems we are seeing seem to be replicated problems they had with the previous builds (ie. not being able to access totems).

This seems like a problem at Behaviour as a whole. You should have been part of their Warhammer 40k shooter.

  • @AnObserver said:

I think part of it is to do with Tile variation potentially being a problem with regards to some edge-cases, but consistent Totems spawns should be easily tested with an in-house Perk that shows all Totem Auras, a Setting that spawns all Totems, and simply making the Killer/Survivor perform the cleanse action that breaks the Totem (such as to allow testers to be able to do a sweep and keep track of the Totems).

That is kind of my point. PTB and prior to something released there should have tools to test the game with. They knew they had a problem with totems with the last update. Logic (should) dictate that those be checked with the newest update especially with killers now being able to snuff out boons.

And to the PTB players. For the most part this is considered late beta testing and bugs like the above should have been found. Also, there are not many PTB players out there and most are just wanting to play the game not bug hunt, and while I can't fault the players for that, but that is not going to find many bugs.

There really needs to be a server dedicated to testing the game where a player can log in and hunt for things. This should be done by someone on the dev team or someone that understands the tools and is given compensation for their finds or time. Just does not seem that is happening the way we would hope.

Oh, and no this will not find everything, especially like the 500 error bug people are having problems with, but it would be a start.

  • I'm not really doing anything different. The chases are much harder in the boon "dead" zones as I tend to follow the tracks a lot. Not much experience with the healing boon as of yet, but I think that just means I will have really focus more on the survivors I hit so I can get them downed.

I try to build for slowing gens down Surge and Pop. Except for pinheads hex I don't use hexes so the actual boon casts don't cause me to lose any normally used perks. And if a boon cast is placed on one of the totems that plaything is on it takes them long enough that it doesn't bother me to much.

  • @JPLongstreet said:

Can someone slip a console into that PTB somewhere somehow, please?

I was just talking about that in another post. Looks like a lot of these problems are arising due to crossplay. Part of these headaches may be avoided if they were to set up their testing server to allow all the systems in.

I alpha/beta test lots of things from games to business software and one of the most important things is to be able to test it on as many different systems as possible and test out everything no matter how dumb it sounds.

  • @EvilJoshy said:

I dont think they have any qc. They probably gave their budget to the team that designs cosmetics.

I am sure that's where most of their income comes from for the game, though I wish that would put more killer skins out...

  • Have you tried verifying your files? I know the PC players can do this not sure about the console players.

  • Yea, I don't see it. As a killer main I am still getting kills and chasing around the survivors.

Yea, I am having to learn new methods for some of my killers but that that is the same with any new update they put out.

Survivors were whining and moaning when Pinhead showed up on scene, but over the last month survivors have learned how to handle it when he shows up on scene and do much better now.

Adapt and overcome. If you are a killer that requires specific perks in order to win and those perks are not as helpful now maybe it is time to work on a different build to find something better that works for your playstyle.

  • Platform: PC (Steam)

    Cross-Platform: ON (always)

In the last (approx.) 20 games it has happened 4 times. Typically while I am player killer (3 out of the 4).

Always happens when the game goes to load into the match. Sometimes all players accepts sometimes the timer is allowed to run out. Player groups are always mixed. SInce I only see that they are not on a PC I cant tell you which console they are playing on.

I do remember in to of the matches where we hit that 500 error several of the players were all dressed the same. Doubt that is the issue, just something that I found funny.

  • @Altarf said:

Were you using the new Seed offerings? I've heard using them as killer causes the infinite loading screen, and I used them 2 times and both caused the infinite screen.

I have tried this but have not experienced the 500 error (yet) when taking in a seed.

  • So tired of threads like this. You don't enjoy the game, the answer is that there are thousands of games out there, find one and have a good time.

Games are supposed to be a temporary release from reality for games to unwind and relax.

  • Would be nice if the players hitting that 500 error could see a BPO reward of 12-15k bloodpoints. That would be a rough estimate of what they may have gained in the match they waited to get into.

  • So many take this game too seriously. As a killer or survivor you should go in to have fun. Yes it can get aggravating to get only a couple of hooks or to die on your first hook.

I have found, after playing for awhile, that if I go in with low expectations of "winning" I have so much more fun. As a killer main I think the survivors do to. Accept that you are going to have entire teams of survivors get out, just make sure you gave them a hard time. As survivors there are going to be times where you are the first one to die.

Remember the survivor to killer ratio is 4 to 1. That means the killer has a better chance of finding you, because there are more of you, and survivors should be able to get some of their objectives done because there is only one killer stalking. Just have fun!

Personally I hate "most" Hexs. Never use the overt hexs that can be disabled first thing in the game. I do like Pinheads hex as it makes the players have to look for their totem if they want to hear me coming. I hate NOED, just a personal thing.

  • @Mandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2581427#Comment_2581427

And as the killer you can then just hit the survivor and hook the one you're carrying. You've also got 2 survivors (minimum) not working on Gens, and another injured survivor.

Heh, beat me to the punch. As killer I love when the players try to body block me. They are now not working on gens and I am going to get some free hits and possibly down a few of them.

  • All depends on what I am working on (dailes and Tome). When I play survivor each toon has a different set up to do specific actions, unless I am working on a specific daily where I have to use a specific toon to complete specific actions.

If your looking for specific skills I like:

Self heal (I normally play solo)

Something so I can find gens (for inside maps)

  • My wife always does.

  • hehe at least no one has mentioned the Warhammer 40k game they attempted to create.

I still have a poster signed by all the devs of that failed game.

  • They have got rid of the penalty right now due to all the crashes. Due to the last update.

  • It is much easier to ######### and complain about the new things put into a game than it is to actually get in game and figure out a way to either work with it or around it. The same type thing as happened when they released Pinhead last month.

SInce people have played with him and against him they found that it was simply a new obstacle that they had to figure out the mechanics of. Now you see many fewer complaints about pinhead now that players understand how important that box is.

Same will show through with the boons.

    People gonna whine.

  • People in here worried about environmental damage. If they were so worried about damaging the environment would they be playing computer games on a computer thats sucks up so much energy and produces so much heat? Not to mention all the chemicals, plastics and metals used in the manufacture of their gaming rig. This is rich!

  • Why worry about the mori? In most instances it can only be used after the 2nd hook, meaning that the player is going to die on the hook when they are hooked.

I think it is kind of funny. As a killer I try to take the add-on thingy that makes sure the survivors come in seperated just because it is "secret" and the players think I have equipped the mori.

  • From what I have seen and expermited with mmr does seem to take into effect the killers level and perks when finding a group. My level 50 clown was always hitting hard groups while my smaller killers (least used) were getting lower experienced groups. I determined this through what perks they were running and how well they did in game.

When I prestiged my clown, I went to about level 20 with him and found the teams I went against to be on par with the teams my little killers were seeing.

Just an observation. None of us will really know how the process works as the Devs are pretty tight lipped about it.

  • @Mr_K said:

Locking and rework is asking too much.

I would settle for just locking it.

I agree! As they have shown us with the saloon map, it's easy to lock out a map.

Designers, just do a town type area or another lab type map to replace it. You can still use a lot of the items seen within RDP to help with the build.

Would love to see a map based off one of the hellraiser movies while your at it. :)

  • I am fine with the new changes with the boon totem (as a killer main). Lets see what comes to pass once it goes gold.

  • I'm on the PC version and been playing for about a year now. As far as hackers go I think I have seen 1 or 2. For a game like this I think those are awesome odds! You should have been around for America's Army.

  • I see a lot of this especially when I play Legion and the survivors all swarm around 1 gen and I am able to bleed them all in the first moments of a game. It is frustrating when an entire com team DC's leaving only 1 or 2 survivors to pick up an entire game.

When it happens I will leave the gens alone and just chase, working on my anti loop and goof off with them, though I have a couple of instances where the entire team discos.

Voluntary discos should have a minimum time block of 10 minutes since most of the time the player has to quit the match while in-game. Harder to deduce if they disconnect their wifi or internet connection.

  • @VikingWilson said:

To hell with that damn map, it's absolutely ridiculous and not conducive whatsoever for DBD's gameplay.

Enjoy your free win, I'm not playing it.

I agree! I hate terminating a match but I do when I gen on this map. Unplayable!

  • @graveyard_7777 said:

I've been noticing that survivors are always more toxic towards killers. I've been playing dbd since Ghostface came out. I play both Survivor and Killer.

Are you talking in match or out of match?

Some Killers ask for it by face camping.

Some survivors do it just because they went up against a more experienced, or better killer.

Some survivors do it just because that are 10 year olds (or acting like they are)

Now, toxic players in match can be a good strategy to tick the killers off, and as a killer main, this rarely bothers me as the more they harass me the fewer gens get done giving me more time. The longer the game goes on the better the odds of me nailing all 4 of them to their perspective hook for the last time. If I have a good time I will normally allow the last one through the hatch or exit as long as it was not the toxic one(s).

  • @Exult said:

I must be the one of few people who enjoy playing on RPD.

I could except this map if I could see in it. Mush easier to simply dislike a map because of its layout, or what-have-you, but for me this one is simply unplayable for me on my PC. WHen the wife is on it on her PS4 she, at least can see where she is going. So dark for me I can run into a corner and never know my toon is stopped.

  • @GannTM said:

The map has more problems than just it being dark.

I don't doubt that! However when you can't see one will not see the other problems. I hate self discoing, but when it comes to this map I will either do so or stand my killer in front of an exit and go get me something to eat.

  • They are a little harder to spot as the killer, meaning a few more stuns. I think this is a good thing.
