El Gigante should be in Dead by Daylight

    Meh.

If we are doing RE again, the Birkin tyrant would be a much cooler choice. I'd love to see the 'mutation' thing go much further than it does with Nemesis.

  • @Gigante said:

Again, this SBMM doesn't make sense in Dead by Daylight. In every match I face survivors with more than 3000 hours of gameplay. If it was only 1 or 2 survivors, fine, but always 4? They all seem to play like they're in a world's final cup. I've never had fun as a killer since implemention of the SBMM because for some reason you guys think I'm a god killer.

It's not fun and this isn't a casual game anymore. I come home from work tired and I want to have fun on the DBD and not be forced to play like a streamer who dedicates his life to it.

    I hate to say it but...you aren't.

The killer is there to facilitate the fun of survivor players. DbD have said as much, and also went on the record recently as saying 'if you aren't having fun, just quit'.

  • @LeonxJiwoon said:

So am sure we all face killers who are so immature that face camp/hit on hook when you loop em to the point that they get 3 to 5 gen and if they do catch you proceeds to hit you and t bag m face camp etc on hook? who are your picks

Top immature = LEGIONS(top for sure I feel its alot of snooty immature kids play this character especially those female ones , clown(bottle throwing), freddies, nemesis(no surprise since am a leon main), plagues(throwing up on you), Myers (just like legions feel he is played by alot of immature lil kids)

50 50 that does or does not do it = ghosty, hags, huntress, doc, pinheads, wraiths, slingers, demos, bubba strange am sure people would assume bubba be on top but maybe its cause am lucky to not get one and like trapper once I see bubba I make sure never be down near basement.

Mature killers = trickster, pig, pyramid head, billy, nurse, spirits, trappers, blight, the twins(They are so rare idk why I do not see this killer alot, last time I got one I think was 1 month ago?

Yeah this thread is going to end well...

OP - from my experience, it's usually a Bubba or a Billy. No idea why.

Personally, I'll do it when I want someone to die to the extent that I've stopped caring about objectives or the BP loss from camping. This doesn't happen often, but it'll probably happen when:

    • You teabag or flick me consistently.
    • You change to an addon right before the game starts.
    • You abuse the infinite 'office' loop on RPD.
    • You flashy stun me after a pallet stun, as this frequently gives me a migraine.
    • You are a smurf.
    • I remember you doing the above and run into you again in another match.
  • @JPA said:

Its not really toxic, its probably the best way to get challenges like the stun challenge, etc.

The real problem here is BHVR thinking mechanics which take away your vision for long periods of time are OK in a game that is very time sensitive.

It can also give me a shattering headache, especially if I'm playing at night.

Ok amma put my hand on the killers sides right now, complaining of NOED is one thing, but complaining of Devour hope, I find that as a survivor main a very stupid petty thing. Killers have to invest and work hard for devour hope, its on the survivors fault who is not good at looping or hiding. Please give me devour hope over noed anytime or day. If survivor just watch themselves and be more aware, then devour hope is nothing unlike noed now I can understand the frustration.

    That's playing a killer.

If someone runs into you off the hook, you are a tunneller.

If someone unhooks in your face and you down them, you are a dirty camper.

Play a meta killer with good perks? 'LOL carried much **** trash killer l2p'.

Play an off meta killer or use odd perks? 'LOL play normally **** trash scrub'.

Give the enemy team a break after they have a DC? 'OMG *** just end it reported for holding the game hostage'.

Wipe the enemy team after they have a DC? 'OMG *** stop being sweaty let ppl farm reported for unsportsmanlike'.

Lose? 'LOL **** scrub EZ uninstall games full'.

I had to set my Steam profile to private due to this game, and only this game. Some survivor players seem legitimately unhinged.

Everything you listed has a practical use, and the inventors of all have been dead for at the very least decades. We, as consumers, can do nothing about the inventors being ######### people. They're dead, and their inventions have spread all over the world.

Jeepers Creepers is just a horror movie and has no practical use.

Victor Salva is still very much alive. He's a terrible person and his work does not deserve to be put in the spotlight, even if he's not directly attached to the project.

You're comparing electricity, one of the backbones of modern society, to a dumb horror movie. They are not comparable.

It depends how you want to look at it. I think that all media has a practical use.

To me, it's like trying to ban The Jungle Book or Huckleberry Finn. I'm a big proponent of Death of the Author - media should be enjoyed separately from it's creator.

There is another, bigger and much more complicated issue here though, and one that's probably going to rustle some feathers.

When someone commits a crime, goes to jail and is released, completes their probation or what have you and commits no further crimes - he or she should be clear (within reason). The formerly incarcerated suffer massive prejudices in society, from a lack of voting rights to constant surveillance. I'm not a fan of that, because it's saying that offenders can never be rehabilitated and need to be punished until they die - which is a pretty dark road to go down.

Salva commited a crime. For doing that thing, he went to prison, served his probation and has never reoffended. I have no love for the man, but right now, as a society, we are way too prone to collective vigilantism.

Woof, heavy stuff for a gaming forum, but I think that it's an interesting and important topic.

  • @SlothGirly said:

no it's not toxic, neither is clicking or tbagging. Idk how people get so heated over somebody pressing their crouch or use item button a few times. All I see are survivors having a little rave and dance.

Because it's commonly accepted as BM and a form of nasty gloating within videogames. It's only done to taunt and belitte someone you've beaten, there is zero other purpose.

Alright I guess ill just carry it in my hand for prize or pass it on to my team mates then.

Shrug. I got Steam stalked by a smurfing .TTV group because I ran Devour Hope and they didn't deal with it.

This game is a machine designed to produce toxicity, and needs a bombing run of heavy moderation and conduct bans.

I don't know what exactly your problem is. I tried both sides killer and single surv it is pretty much the same as before.

Survivors get a free, powerful toolbox or medkit.

    There's a big difference.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/290733/taking-a-break-till-they-fix-gen-speeds

Take a break and in meanwhile go check some guides how to play certsin killers because when gens pops up fast you are doing something wrong

I've watched and read plenty of guides.

It's entirely possible for a gen to be done 14 seconds into a game, 2 gens before 1 minute and 3 gens before 2 with a coordinated group, PTS and multiple toolboxes. Worse, with the right rotation strategy, 3 gens can be completed together before 2 minutes while one player scouts/runs the killer.

Even with Discordance, on the wrong map, it can be literally impossible for some killers to reach the gen before it pops.

Hell, I'm probably 'middling' MMR wise, and I frequently have games that despite my best efforts see multiple gens popping before I even get a chase. RPD (and to a lesser extent Haddonfield and Badham) are the big offenders here.

You can run CI, which of course requires you to either farm for months or pay real money (and level one of the least popular, jankiest killers in the game) or pray for it to pop up in SOS (never seen it).

Plus, on certain maps CI can backfire and you end up wasting a perk slot. You can run LP, which can have the same problem. Or you can 3gen into camping and slugging, or run NOED+NWO and hope you get good gate RNG, which is about as much fun for the killer as it is for the survivors.

Watch any top tier killer stream and you'll see what I mean. Even folks like Otz regularly get skunked by SWF groups

In general the creation of Jeepers Creepers is still attached to Victor Salva and it doesn't matter if there is a reboot. Victor was a sick man and the less attention and fame he gets the better.

I understand why this makes it unlikely for a developer to want to touch the franchise, but this is terrible logic.

If we discarded everything amazing that was invented by problematic people, we wouldn't have rockets, electricity or cars.

You contact support with proof and give them the backup. That way you won't get banned.

There's a semi-well-known case where someone had support restore their save and was almost immediately banned for modifying their save file. As far as I know, they never got their account back, despite this being a pretty obvious case of one support agent not telling the other support agents what he/she had done.

Honestly, stay away from both unless you have no other option.

    NOT VIABLE

Trapper, Wraith, Hillbilly, Myers, Doctor, Bubba, Freddy, Pig, Clown, Legion, Ghost Face, Demogorgon, Deathslinger, Trickster, Cenobite

MIGHT BE VIABLE BUT YOU NEED TO BE TOP 0,01%

    Blight, Oni, Twins, Huntress

(actually i know only 1 Blight player in Europe good enough to perform well - Spanish, more than 1000 hours with Blight)

    VIABLE

Nurse, Hag, Spirit, Pyramid Head, Nemesis, Plague

So let's do the maths : 25 killers

    Viable = 6 (24%)

Viable only if you are pro = 4 (16%)

    Not viable (basically unplayable) = 15 (60%)

I guess the vast majority of the high MMR playerbase will agree with me. Sad to see that most killers are useless and that a large part of the viable ones needs so many dedication to be mastered to reach the skill needed to perform well with them.

The game should rely on map control and strategy to get the win but no it relies only on the ability you have to down a survivor fast enough to not loose time. The brain is not needed anymore...

'Viable' is a tricky word. As is 'high level'.

I'd say that, after a certain point, PH, Nemesis and Plague certainly aren't high tier picks and Spirit...Spirit is tricky.

Hag is certainly not in this list - coordinated groups of good survivors will run rings around a Hag (and that was before boons, which she struggles against). Otz had an easier time getting 50 wins on Doctor. Doctor. Before the crazy Halloween patch.

    The issue is:

    • Far too many maps simply hard-counter M1 killers, and several counter ranged killers. RPD is a big offender here, as it has the first true infinite loop that we've seen in a while.
    • At a 'high level', killers rely on very specific perks/tactics to stand a chance, usually proxy-camping and slugging. These are so widely complained about by survivors that they are almost certainly going to be changed.
    • High powered toolboxes+PTS+MTL are simply too effective. It's amazingly discouraging to have multiple gens popping before you've even had a chase.

Yeah, that was one of the biggest red flag's about community awareness I had ever seen them pool. The way Boon Totems were handled seems like another. Im not against the powers of the current Boon Totems. But the fact that you can pick where they are and reignited as many times as you want? That felt like a serious middle finger towards Killer's who had been asking for the same thing for YEARS.

It's more than boons, as is, just don't work with the paradigm of DbD.

There are 4 survivors, and 16 perks between them. It's easy to assign someone as 'hex hunter' while everyone else does gens or runs interference.

There is only 1 killer, so while you're trying to snuff the fiddly little boon totem, 4 survivors are busy popping a gen.

I have no problem winning on RPD or Haddonfield. It's you guys' playstyles.

Okay, well then I'd love to hear some tips.

    • How do you reach the 'far' gens on each end on an M1 killer before they pop? Even if I head there immediately after game start and correctly guess which one is going to be worked on/use Discordance, it pops before I get there.
    • How do you deal with the near-infinite loop in the office close to the main 'hub' on an M1 killer? Even once I hit BL3, unless a survivor makes a serious mistake, there doesn't seem to be a way to catch up to a survivor who abuses this area.
  • @Mandy said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2597511#Comment_2597511

The perk definitely did need a fix, because it hadn't worked under dedicated servers at all - why should it be reliant on the killers connection for example, so that 100% did need to be changed.

With regards to the balance questions you brought up, sorry but I'm not addressing anything that we've not discussed publicly. I do pass on the feedback with regards to what's been discussed here, but it's not up to me to decide what gets changed or not.

The issue is a combination of:

    • Dead Hard already being a very strong perk before the 'fix'. While it likely wasn't working as intended, the slight RNG it had helped ameliorate this somewhat. Now, it's entirely possible to time it out correctly, swing, hit, hear the SFX for hitting and have it still go off and prevent damage and you then losing chase in utter confusion, through no fault of your own.
    • Killers are already struggling, especially us lower skill killers - thanks to whatever weirdness is going on with SBMM right now. Far too many matches against .TTV squads with thousands of hours to my sub-200.
    • The difficult to fix but omnipresent issue of survivors feeling like the 'power' role and bullying killers, particularly in RPD which has at least 1 near-infinite loop, and being very difficult to navigate even when you know where you have to go.
    • A lack of transparency regarding MMR. It's difficult to tell, after a match where you got absolutely flattened and teabagged/flicked all the way to a 4-out, whether you got outplayed by people at your level, smurfed by people much better who deliberately tanked their MMR or went up against a subtle hacker.
    • A sense that BHVR is putting survivor enjoyment ahead of killer enjoyment, especially with the mention of stronger penalties for 'camping'. While it is undoubtably frustrating on the survivor end, you only have to watch the top killers in the world to see that this is the only way to really pressure coordinated SWF groups.
    • Boons.

I really do love this game, but you cannot deny the general frustration from killer players evident on these boards right now.

  • @DorkianBae said:

Ran it 3 games in a row....Prove thyself, Built to Last, Street Smart and Dead hard.

Every game I did 3 gens by myself in little to no time...

Built to Last was 100% overbuffed, it's kinda questionable that they even buffed it tbh, it was already decent.

Gens overall are busted. Far too many games start with me seeing a Discordance immediately after the game starts, me heading over and having the gen pop before I arrive, and losing 2 more before I even see a survivor.

    I agree with you here.

A player has to click "ready" to search for a match initially - if you're not committed to playing that match why search for a lobby in the first place? The reason that the game readies up automatically is to avoid trolling, those that would wait until the last few seconds and then unready so the rest of the players are waiting all over again. The countdown gives ample notice of the game about to start.

It's tangentially related, but it's tooth-grindingly frustrating that survivors can switch to toolboxes/medkits/maps just before the match starts, preventing the killer from selecting a counter.

  • @pyramidheadmain6233 said:

    • His M2 is so niche that it's barely worth using.
    • His voicelines were removed without any compensation.
    • He is hard countered by some maps.
    • He requires addons and very specific perks to really feel 'right'.

Then again, at least he's in a better spot than Trickster. It says a lot when the last two killers available are mostly poop tier.

Devour I honestly can't use without getting two stacks to then get cleansed last second, you call ruin a gamble but not devour but your probably thinking in the sense that survivors realize there's no ruin and continue to ignore the hex until 3 stacks and if that is the case, fair.

RPD is the only exception I'll give to the maps it is a maze if you don't know the layout, still playable but that one infinite can suck all life out of the map if survivors abuse it as most killers can't do anything to catch up.

Fixing COH or boons still probably won't do anything to prevent abuse from it. Healing without a medkit or self care is very rewarding without the struggle. Autodidact is a perk that comes to mind with risk/reward, if in the moment where a heal is needed and you don't have stacks your team punished for not setting up properly (even when the perk don't really help the player set up anyway) but if you do your rewarded for taking time off gens to heal. Maybe something like a stack system with this perk could do but overall with such little risk with huge reward it'll be used for a while

It's a gamble, sure - but to me it's a much smarter one.

It may be different at very high MMRs, but at my 'intermediate' MMR, survivors never cleanse it until 3 stacks unless I'm absurdly unlucky on spawns. Although watching Otz and co., they frequently get huge value out of it.

Once it's at 3 stacks, time has elapsed, I've hopefully already got a few hooks and the game space has narrowed down. It's much easier to turn them looking for it and me having an insta-down into pressure.

Boons are going to have to be nerfed. My guess is that they add a 60 second duration to it or something, after which it turns back into a dull totem.

  • @jesterkind said:

To be fair, the chapter before last did give us Lethal Pursuer, which is more than strong enough to warrant being a meta perk. It's insanely good and weirdly slept on.

It's incredibly map and killer dependent. It can also be hard-countered by some survivor perks, such as Distortion.

On some maps (RPD in particular) it's a crap-shoot as to whether you'll be able to reach the survivors before they've moved elsewhere. Hell, there are at least 2 gens on that map where - even if you head there immediately - the gen can be finished before you get there.

It also relies on you being able to turn it into pressure (not a guarantee thanks to COH) or a hook (never a guarantee) to stop it being a completely wasted slot.

I'll give you that it's good on DDS, but - assuming they ever fix the uncleanse-able boon spots on DDS - you'll need to burn an offering. Otherwise you risk getting stuck in RPD or another huge map where, at best, you might get an early chase out of it.

  • @hiken said:

so, i will just say mi opinion about this topic, brace yourselves will be a big post.

it will be my hot take about it.

so why do i think there is nothing to do to change it?,

i think is due a major desease without any cure (realistic one at this point). even if they properly balance the game (and actually to a semi comp or comp game even) that wouldnt fix a thing people will complain that the game is harder to play now and most likely you would need to play in coms to actually stand a chance, wich could make it so now for solos they would need to add proximity chat or general chat or whatever... also the killer would be way stronger and solos would suffer even more than they already do, unless as i said they added chat (voice) and make it insanely balanced with maps, RNG, tiles and many other things....wich wouldnt fix anything anyway, why?.

after almost 4k hours in this game, (but you dont need that many to get it) people especially survs enjoy the game in its actual state where is easy or pretty much easy, unless you go against THOSE 3 especific killers, in that case the games starts to get harder, and they dont like that they always hate going agaainst them (most of them do, just cause a few enjoy going agaisnt really good nurses spirit and blights doesnt mean most do, they are a minority and some other good killers with extremely good 1 v 1)

if the game gets balanced then the killer would be also ahead (for a big margin) of solo players cause they will make killers stronger for sure, so that would hurt the game badly (unless as i said the game got balanced for solo survivors wich would make SWF way stronger even if they apply debuffs to them, and we all know that, and the things like giving them an early big debuff or add another gen to do and that stuff would be so unfun that i dont think makes sense) so basically everyone should play with friends or as i said a chat should be added, but survivors dont want that and i dont think killers want that either, survivors for the most part just want to win quickly (at least when they realize about the importance of being efficient and how much that affects the game) and some others like to get chased (only if they are in complete control, like almost against all killers) so basically survs for the most part just want to chill and sometimes try hard and annoy the killer if possible; when they start understanding the game, and since there is not penalization (now) they DC when it gets a little bit hard or things dont go their way... and i see DCS consistently now, almost every game when i play solo.

summary (they want to chill or get a little bit more serious if neccesary or just wants to, but always while being ahead of the killer and in control of the game, even if they dont admit it) and even smaller summary, Win without having to make a real big effort... dont know how that happened, i dont know if its BHVR fault or what have they done wrong, or if maybe is just the community... potentially related to being a "comp" game, not really comp but 2 sides competing to win? dont think so, not every game while being competitive or having 2 sides to compete have this toxic behaviour.... its not about being competitive and win, people dont want to accept when they get outplayed and stuff, in wich games you see that many people dcing in other games when they get outplayed?...there is something more.... again not a real comp game and as i said peple wouldnt want the game to be comp (balanced for that)

    ________________________

then we have the killers, what they want is to play more casually most games, and they dodge when they see a potential threat (camon, u did it many times! dont lie to yourself) and especially would want to get RID of MMR cause now they cant dodge, and even if u do dodge you will just for the most part get paired with another good team if your MMR is high, and most likely will becuase i bet you try to win most of your games wich of course will lead u to higher MMR...

MMR is what most killers are complaining about, is not like they dont like challenges, they do and i do, but you dont want to get to the point where you have to sweat your balls that hard for the most part... especially since there is not real reward and this game has so many shenanigans wich can get u annoyed, so many things you need to think about Perks, RNG, tiles and conections it can be stressing when u see survivors who actually know how to use them properly, lets be honest most killer would like just seeing survivors making mistakes and chill more... but especially because its 4 minds against 1, it can be stressing and sometimes infuriating... maybe its related to that? the 4 v 1 thing? and the fact taht people take this game so seriously even when is not a proper comp game?.

Summary as survivors they also want to chill and get for the most part easy games or maybe having to sweat a little bit more but winning as many times as possible in the process.

Big summary??? the community is entitled, little empathy for the other side for the most part, (Basically they just think for themselves even if they say the opposite) hypocritical aswell because of it, so i dont think there is much to do to fix it, IMO is something about this especific game, even if u make a new one i think is related to this especific genre that is so unique and uncomparable with other games... maybe if we see prop night, VHS or others succeed (and without much toxicity), we may understand why, or maybe will just be the same again cause its something related to this type of games...

thats my hot take about the community, thanks for the ones who made it this far, very much appreciated if u did..

The problem is almost impossible to fix.

For most of DbD's history, the developers have been openly and notoriously survivor sided (just look at the flashlight stun fiasco, and how hard they defended it, the recent interview where they said 'well, if you aren't having fun just stop playing' to killer mains, or them sneakily disabling killer matchmaking protections simply because red-rank survivors had longish queue times for matches).

While they are better now, they've set up a nasty little feedback loop where every survivor expects to escape every match, and will launch a tidal wave of QQ whenever they don't.

Killers are expected to abide by some sort of 'code of conduct' - no slugging, no camping, no strong addons etc - and BHVR seem to agree, which is why the camping penalty was introduced, and whatever abomination their new 'anti camping' system is going to be. Survivors aren't, however.

At this point, BHVR needs to make up their mind. They either need to straight up tell killers that they should realistically expect 1 or 2 kills a match maximum (and probably buff BP gain substantially) or substantially rework their game to make the killer role more accessible. Maps like RPD, Haddonfield and Badham need substantial alterations and fixes (why the hell are infinite loops still a thing?). About 2/3 of killer perks need a buff, and about half the killer roster needs some Billy or prenerf Wraith level love.

    However, I'm not optimistic.

Boons are the best recent example. Forget numbers balancing and aura stacking, they simply do not work in DbD mechanically.

It also boggles my mind how BHVR changed the validation of Dead Hard (which was already crazily strong and meta), making it even stronger, while stuff like Doctor shock validation has never and likely will never be fixed.

But survivors outnumber killers, which means they are a bigger revenue stream. I guess killers just have to accept that, for the foreseeable future, they are second class citizens.

The meta is what’s fun and accustomed when you reach a certain skill gap imo. Ruin is the most annoying killer perk to go against currently and playing as killer I would say it’s the maps that are frustrating.

I wish the devs would stop releasing poorly designed unhealthy killers and redundant survivor perks and start making balance changes to the current maps AND START MAKING MORE OUTDOOR MAPS THAT PLAY LIKE COAL TOWER!

And get rid of this awful SBMM it solves nothing..

SBMM seemed to be working pretty well until the patch. It was a million times better than ranks (ie. killer matchmaking protections being disabled for almost a year).

Now...something has either been disabled or broken.

I really don't know why people complain about Ruin still. As a killer, it's a massive gamble, because savvy groups will either just brute force through it or it spawns right in the open next to a gen and is gone within a minute of the match starting. Honestly, there are at least 4 perks right now that are significantly more oppressive, and no I am not going into detail (rule #1 of killer: don't spread anything cool you find, as it will be nerfed).

Yes to maps. I'm at the point now where I just cable-yank the second I see an RPD offering, or AFK the match. No, I'm not going to play a map with an infinite loop right near the main hub that even intermediate survivors now know to run to immediately.

I don't personally like boon totems as 1. It exists with a very broken perk that will be abused by the players who use it and 2. Perks like ruin and devour become useless when the survivor blesses the totem with the hex on it, I believe hexs should be brought back after breaking the boon but someones probably already gone over that and its not what this post is about

I like the perk for only one good reason, survivors can complain that not all four meta perks can't be run along side this perk, giving up a bt ds or adrenaline and it shakes up your matches for better or for worse. If BHVR made this perk for a meta change they got what they wanted but I hate it, survivors just run to the boon whenever there hit and heal over and over again and sometimes I just have to tunnel regardless of it being scummy because its impossible to snowball otherwise

If next update brings a killer perk that changes the meta I'll be thrilled to have some variety with my matches with and against killer. Obviously everyone's got opinions but I think we just need something to change what killers bring because all it is atm its just Ruin, tinkerer, Undying, Corrupt intervention, or at least that's what I'm getting

Something fun I wouldn't mind but as someone who's a killer main this game can be boring after the same match's over and over again and if I was to try a build or have fun I get punished for it. Just my opinion and your all entitled to your own

Devour is still an excellent perk. I honestly get more use out of it than Ruin, unless I'm playing 1 of 2 very specific killers.

The problem with boons isn't a numbers issue - it's a mechanics issue. Even assuming they balance COH out and fix the uncleanse-able totem spots (never a guarantee, there are still dead zones that survivors can crawl to where you can't pick them up), the idea of survivor totems just doesn't work.

A survivor team can spare someone to go and do the hex totem (hell, they even have a perk specifically for this!) but there is only 1 killer, who is permanently time-starved. By the time you've found the fiddly little thing (no aura, weird, inconsistent 'hum' SFX) survivors are on the other side of the map 99%'ing several gens and setting up another boon.

It's a cute idea, but just not one that works in DbD. It's on par with the instant flashlight stuns that the devs defended for ages, then pretended never happened.

At least 1% of the population has epileptic seizures caused by, or at the very least worsened, by flashing lights. Those are estimates and I theorize that a much higher percentage has them, but that's besides the point. Flashlight macros are extremely common among the community and unfortunately seem to be looked at positively by many survivor players.

However this becomes a problem if someone with epilepsy, or just someone with light sensitivity, tries to play the game. The sudden flashes caused by macros right into your camera are enough to trigger a seizure or headache. I myself don't have epilepsy, but I know some who do that cannot play DBD for that exact reason. Flashlight macros shouldn't be allowed in the first place but that's also besides the point.

The game needs accessibility options, that's been talked about to death and is very apparent. However the main topic people bring up is colorblindness, which can usually be resolved with third party software to change colors. Flashing lights however cannot be fixed without direct developer intervention or modding, the latter could be considered cheating.

I propose a solution; add an option to remove the flashlight beam when it is aimed directly at your face, with some downside such as longer flashlight blinds or quicker time to blind. It is unacceptable that part of the population cannot play the game when so many other games have found solutions.

And to all the survivors out there who purposefully click in the killer's face to give them headaches, ######### you.

I'm not epileptic, but it can definitely bring on a migraine when survivors do it all game.

Yeah, I only use Ruin Undying on my Plague and it's 100% a gamble. If it gets cleansed in the first minute or two I'm screwed but if i can get more than 2+ minutes of value from it I can usually get a snowball rolling. And if it happens to stay up all match it's just crippling to the survivors.

Aside from that on Plague I stick to the Pop Corrupt combo because it's reliable lol

CI is still one of the perks I need to farm up. I really enjoy Discordance+Pop, and I like to run Ruin+Undying+Plaything on Pinhead. Really need to unlock Dead Man's Switch on him, that seems to have some crazy potential.

I read somewhere about a bug that is causing newer, lesser played killers to have only a slightly lower MMR than your best killer so that could explain your issue when trying to learn new killers.

It's not a bug. Basically, your new killers have an MMR bound slightly below your best killer (note: this is only rumored, and I can't talk more about where this claim came from without risking a forum ban, was warned last time I discussed it).

However, this doesn't explain why my 'main' killers face less skilled survivors than my 'new' killers, or why even after getting slaughtered in 10 matches straight I'm only facing stronger opponents.

  • @Miralis said:

I honestly dont understand what the fuss is about COH being OP. I played 3 games as killer and still 4k each game with multiple survivors having COH. Just FYI, I dont play killer, and I still 4k with this supposed god tier perk. Even as a survivor the perk isnt OP because killers still very easily can get 3k - 4k. I swear any new thing that releases is immediatly called OP if somebody doesnt like it. Boon: COH is fine the way it is.

Vids please. I've watched a few streams and even the best killers in the world are getting rocked by SWFs that play around COH. By the time they reacquire a survivor after a hit, they've already healed up and it's legitimately the wrong move to try and cleanse them, assuming that boon can even be snuffed.

Not to mention the fact that, if you didn't play killer, you'd have the starting MMR of a total beginner while still having a lot of experience at the game. Of course you are going to rock absolute newcomers.

Not saying that you are lying, but I am saying that I'm...skeptical.

Especially when you say things like:

Im a good survivor and killers still can easily get kills with it even eith a good survivor team. The perk isnt OP.

In the words of the immortal Christopher Hitchens: 'That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence'.

Record a game or two for us and pop them up on YouTube. Very curious to take a look. Make sure to show your available perks (to demonstrate that you actually don't play killer) and the perks of survivors at the end (to demonstrate they aren't complete newbies).

    @GannTM said:

It can be strong but it's not OP. I'm just glad to see a meta changing perk on the survivor side.

    No, it's pretty OP.

The issue is that boons, as is, are just not a good idea. A 4man group can send one person (with a specific perk to help them) to focus on taking out hexes, and once the hex is gone, it's gone for good. In the meantime, the other 3 can do gens, distract the killer etc.

The killer is already time starved, and the time spent trying to find and snuff one of these is probably enough time for the survivors to do a gen, or worse - partially complete several to deny a 3gen. And of course, by then, they've popped another one up near the current gens and you get to do it all over again.

It's silly, because boons are either going to have to have a set duration or are going to be nerfed to the point of being a gimmick. They had potential, but - forget 'meta' - they just don't fit with how the game works mechanically.

I'm gonna be honest, I didn't play a lot when the MMR first came out on console. So I don't know about what it was like then. But yeah, it is terrible now. I don't think it is smurfing. Something just seems off. Like killer MMR is not dropping the way it should be or SWF isn't being averaged right

    From my purely anecdotal observations:

    • Before the patch, things were mostly good. Some odd matches (either I got put up against a group who had no chance against me, or vice versa) but mostly things felt balanced.
    • Post patch, initially my 'mid MMR' killers (those I was somewhat experienced on and probably had a decent middling MMR) still had fair games for a while.
    • My 'low MMR' killers (those I was learning) were suddenly getting chimped by incredibly good, sweaty SWF groups, game after game.
    • After about a day, all of my matches were either against complete newcomers, ridiculously stacked SWFs or - most frequently - a 1500-3000 hour 3man SWF and a complete newcomer.

This makes me think that smurfing due to the DC penalty removal is the culprit, but I honestly have no idea. I'll check back in in a week or so, and if it's not fixed I'll probably take another year's break.

  • And yet the last killer that was even close to overpowered was nerfed within days and is now absolute bottom tier.

Also OoO gave SWFs free maphacks and took...what? A year? And basically every single killer main with an ounce of influence complaining endlessly about it, banning it from tournaments etc. for it to get a slight nerf. It's still very strong.

And don't even get me started on DS locker play, the endless spots where survivors could crawl and not be able to get picked up (some still exist!), the office near-infinite on RPD (which will likely never be changed), the flashlight stun fiasco...yeah, the list goes on.

Writing it all out like this makes me wonder why I even bother.

  • @Astroblazer said:

Like seriously it confuses the hell out of me and it makes me feel like I'm playing with bots.

It's because something is very squiffy with killer matchmaking right now. Since the patch, I'm routinely finding myself up against 3man SWFs with 2000 hours between them (to my sub-200) and maybe one intermediate survivor.

Either survivors are abusing the removed DC penalty to rapidly smurf down their MMRs, or something got broken/disabled.

I wonder if this was a situation like what occurred before MMR, where red-rank survivors complained endlessly about their queue times, resulting in BHVR completely (and quietly) removing killer matchmaking protections completely.

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2593529#Comment_2593529

Tbh I didn't know they were adding a camping penalty, so even more reason to slug people and bleed them out then LOL

There's already a penalty - you take a pretty big BP hit for even being in proximity of a hook for any length of time. Savvy survivors will actually abuse this and try to lead you close to, or around hooks so that you either have to let them go or lose 5-10k BP.

Apparently though, this isn't enough and they said that they have something else on the way that will punish 'camping' (i.e. being within a large, undefined radius from any hooked survivor) even more harshly.

  • @Exxodus21 said:

Just had a crash on RCPD while using both Boon perks. When I came back I had a wonderful d/c penalty waiting for me! Really good job so far!

Your experience as killer has been all I have experienced as a console player since the mid-chapter went live. Many people are having this issue, and like many pointed out on my rant thread a day or two ago, Dead by Daylight is not able to have an MMR system in its current state. There is too many things wrong balance wise and too many things to take into account for MMR to work nicely.

The thing is - MMR was actually working pretty decently before the patch.

I'd get the odd bizarro match from time to time (probably a result of people smurfing down their MMR in SWF groups) but most of them were at least fun, win or lose. The whole point of the MMR system, as stated by the devs, was that people who didn't want to play sweaty would find a spot in the MMR system where they wouldn't need to, and would be up against opponents conducive to this approach.

Now though, things are bonkers. Either high level survivors are using the removed DC penalty to drop their MMR rapidly to crush low-intermediate skill players like myself or the matchmaking system has been secretly disabled for killers (as has happened in the past) or broken. Or perhaps I've chain-lossed myself into a special sort of MMR hell consisting of smurfing SWFs, where losing only makes you more likely to encounter them.

Had a game a week ago where all I did was down people for a challenge and didn't bother hooking because I just didn't care about winning, I just wanted my challenge/daily and well, I found the game so much more enjoyable as a killer if I just literally never hooked anyone.

I didn't have to worry about people flashlight saving since I was never picking anyone up.

I didn't have to worry about making it to a gen in time because I wasn't taking like 20-30 seconds picking someone up and carrying them to the hook while being safe about flashlights/pallet saves.

You don't realize just how much time you spend picking someone up and taking them over to a hook till you just stop doing it and it gives you so much more pressure on gens just slugging everyone over and over again.

So I started doing this playstyle game after game... Survivors absolutely hated me, but honestly who cares? My fun isn't thought of when all my B tier killers got nerfed (Deathslinger/Wraith) why should I care about other people's fun?

Had the most fun doing this playstyle with Leatherface and Blight... Just never letting up, slugging people to death till everyone is slugged or they bleed out from being on the ground so much. If I slug all 4 or I feel a little mercy then I'll hook but otherwise have fun on the ground, you'll be there a while.

Use mostly perks that help you in chase, obviously don't use pop since we aren't really hooking. Corrupt is a nice slowdown for the early game till you start finding people and if you want another slowdown go dead lock but other than that just go chase perks (depending on killer) like save the best for last, bamboozle, etc.

So anyone frustrated with the current Killer gameplay that is just a stressful mess, try this playstyle. Even if you lose you'll still generally have fun because all you will do is chase all game and survivors don't know what to do usually when you aren't constantly using up time hooking people. They have to get off gens to pick people up, meanwhile you are headed to them straight after just downing that person.

I know where you are coming from.

Killers seem to be expected to be held to a sort of gentleman's code within the game, while survivors can do what ever cheesy, exploitative thing they want.

And BHVR seem to be completely behind this double standard, hence the penalty for camping and the new 'anti camping' system which will undoubtably be a massive net buff to survivors, and turn any hook into a 'killer free' safe zone.

  • @FellowKillerMain said:

I actually liked this patch a lot. I think the spirit changes were needed and are healthy, as well as most others. I personally think they should have sped up wraith while uncloaking, because they nerfed his uncloak speed after buffing his uncloak lunge speed. Now, without addons, it's really hard to hit anyone while coming out of cloak.

What's been stuck in my craw is the things matt cote has said. I cannot get it out of my head, that recent interview with paulie esther and "the king", which only makes me hearken back to when he said "if you're not having fun, go play something else". I think of these things whenever I get frustrated with this game and remind myself that it's not the game as much as it is the decisions made by the team that is balancing the game. So, I always need to remind myself that maybe I, or we all, should go play something else.

Don't get me wrong, like others are saying, DBD is a fun game, and it's a good game in general. But more specifically, it's a pvp game, and by the standards of what make a pvp game good, it is not a very good game. They can fix that, I just don't know if they want to, which is what's so frustrating, because anyone who likes this game a lot has to slog through the reconciliation of quitting after having invested much time.

Mm. This sometimes seems to happen when a small developer achieves success - it goes to their head and suddenly they don't believe they can do anything wrong (see: flashlight stun fiasco) regardless of feedback or common-sense. Eventually the game starts experiencing a sort of heat death, where certain types of players just start leaving en-masse and the game suffers. They then either reverse themselves, or go down with the ship.

    'Go play something else' is...worrying.

It reminds me of a recent fiasco with another game I have a love/hate relationship with - Path of Exile. In the previous season, the developers made a number of really badly considered changes to make the game more 'hardcore', and essentially said 'well, we know people are going to leave and we really don't care'.

Sure enough, the season was a bomb and they started to reverse themselves in the next season - but the community had already taken a big hit.

I have a feeling that DbD is eventually going to reach a critical mass where either they'll just admit that they really don't want survivors to be killed at all and allow teams to just play against a bot killer, or start turning killer into at-least slightly more of a power role. Possibly by reworking the numerous maps that are hated by nearly every killer. Of course this will prompt a tsunami of complaints from survivors - and that's the problem right there.

So what exactly do you suggest?

Killers now can't down a survivor if they've already downed them?

    Automatic unhooks?

    Baseline unbreakable?

Exactly how more survivor sided do you want to make this game?

  • @shelobster said:

I can't just send 1/4 of myself off to cleanse the thing while the rest of me pressures gens, or assign one or two of my sixteen perks available to tracking the things. In the time it takes me to find the thing and snuff it (assuming it can even be snuffed - some spots still seem bugged) I've probably lost the game.

Boons were a cute idea that were terribly implemented. It's a different matter for the killer.

Survivor Mains : " just cleanse the Totem "

Yeah wow i CAN cleanse it and ? Survivor always can Bless another Totem to get there broken Perk back also Survivor can have 4 Boon Totems at the same time so at every corner they got instant heal 4 free.

Why Survivor CAN destroy a Hex Totem and remove it for the whole Match but Killers who already are weak cant destroy a Blessed or Dull Totem ? ... oh wait because the Devs want to have the Game Survivor sided

When the Boon Totems got on PTB alot Pro Streamers like Otzdarva already has say this Things are Bad for the Game and are going to Ruin it because Killers dont need a 2und objective because they are to weak

Boon Totems need to be removed or need to get nerfed so every Survivor only CAN use there Boon Perk only 1 time in a Match if it got cleansed its done like a Hex Totem

    It's frankly ridiculous.

A team can heal up in around 10-20 seconds, maximum within the annoyingly large aura the thing has. You can injure someone and, in the time it takes you to reacquire them they've already been healed and are off over the horizon. Knocked down? No problem. Just have a friend pop a totem next to the hook and they can basically unhook and heal in your face.

If I want to stop them, I need to waste 60+ seconds hunting for the thing, by which time a gen has popped and another is close. It's not like playing survivor where 1 person can hunt for totems while the others do gens - killers are already time-starved as is.

Best of all, some are still not able to be cleansed and survivors can crawl into the same spot, where you now can't pick them up.

Oh and if you manage to snuff it, they've already got another one up near the generator they are about to complete while you were snuffing the first one.

Nope, I'm done. I'll check back in a week maybe to see if anything is different. Maybe I'll hammer out the current event for the Doctor skin, but that will be it.

  • @SavouryRain said:

No, I'd like my Doctor shock to actually interrupt or prevent actions. Due to the current validation being survivor-sided, 2/3 of the time the shock hits, then they vault and drop the pallet completely safely before the effect applies. And I play with 34ms latency on a wired FO connection, so it's not that I'm laggy.

Doc's shock is the biggest offender, but not the only offender.

I'm there with you though, somewhat on the flipside. Almost every other match I play as Survivor I get camped on my first hook until I die and watch my teammates die to NOED / lucky if 1-2 escape after having to gen rush due to face camping.

I just want to get better at looping naturally in solo queue without my rank 1 friends "boosting" me and it's just been absolute hell because so many killers are utilizing the face camp + NOED strategy to secure 2 kills for net MMR gain and it makes me so sad to see that.

SO I've been playing Killer more lately, especially since my OG main Plague got some much needed love this update and I have been enjoying it so so much. That being said I can only play Killer so much until I feel alone and decide to go play something else so.. Yeah lol

But yeah my joy lately is from playing killer since I can actually play a full match and do things. It's also fun when survivors goof around, I like events like this when we all bring cake and party streamer offerings and farm with each other since I'm eternally on a BP grind.

But yeahhh.. Literally the only reason I'm forcing myself to play a lot lately is for Plague's Maiden of Vanity cosmetic in the Rift, I NEED it. Otherwise I would not be playing much if at all tbqh. I'm holding out for Endwalker on ffxiv next month but DBD is always in the back, it's my guilty pleasure and I can never escape it but I can take hiatuses lol

Kind of sympathize with the killers too.

I know that since the patch, I've had to switch to sweaty perks and strategies, or else I just get run over in maybe 2/3 of my games.

Naturally the other third is complete newcomers, who I end up running over.

    Yeah, this isn't fun.

No, face-camping and proxy-tunneling are a symptom of bad game design that allows 1 player to completely stop another player from playing the game. You can slow gen speeds to take an hour and killers would still face-camp and proxy-tunnel. This is entirely on the killers side of things and any nerf you do to survivors wouldn't change it. It's been going on since the game began and will continue to go on until the developers make changes.

You aren't going to prevent 'tunneling' though without completely breaking the game. The goal of the killer initially is to turn a 4man into a 3man, as this is the only way to get generator speeds to the point where you can actually get there in time and have a chase before it pops. As it stands, if you reach 2-3 gens without a kill, you're going to get stomped.

And...killers don't have all that much control over this. On some maps (RPD), it's entirely possible for survivors to finish 2 gens before the killer can realistically reach them, even if he starts heading there at the start of the game.

Survivor queues are getting longer and longer, and my killer queues are pretty close to instant.

    @ukenicky said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/2592591#Comment_2592591

    Agreed.

RPD needs to be split up and minimized BAD. It's way too big and the fact that it has infinites is sad.

And my god, Haddonfield needs a map rework the most out of every single map in the game. Ideally every map would be 50:50 for both sides in design and layout but alas.

I think reducing the size of the larger maps would help immensely over all. As a Killer I literally run either: Corrupt Intervention OR Ruin + Undying + Discordance to stall the early game somewhat until I can get into a chase and get things going.

Again I agree with you, I know it's a way to apply pressure or secure at least 1 kill but I hate that there's so many people who exclusively do just that AT 5 gens and relish in it and sometimes even secure a 2nd kill with NOED and gain MMR from that despite only making 8 - 9k BP and doing next to nothing the entire match. If they made it so that the survivor being face camped wasn't penalized as harshly and maybe got Distraction points for being camped idk just anything to make the experience of being camped until you die on hook a little bit better would be appreciated. I'm not asking for camping to magically be removed somehow just that it be less rewarding for a killer to do in the grand scheme of things and the unfortunate victim to get SOMETHING in return, even if it's small because it makes me just give up on playing survivor and either play some killer or go play another game, usually the latter.

If a killer rly wants me to not play the game I won't 😐

Ruin+Undying is a gamble, as on certain maps it can spawn literally next to the first gen survivors go to, right out in the open. I use Ruin on Pinhead and Pop on most other killers now.

Yeah, RPD is horrible. I've started just yanking my cable whenever someone brings an offering for it. The map is spectacularly busted - it's annoying for inexperienced survivors, and way too strong once they understand the layout, the infinite in the office, the 3 or so 'free' gens that are nearly impossible to pressure and the various drops and vaults that are on par with the notorious Badham fence.

Haddonfield is very killer dependent. If you have a killer that can traverse vertically, it's manageable. On an M1 killer, survivors can see you coming so clearly and have so many escapes from nearly every gen position that you have to rely on them making mistakes.

I'd be happy with a BP increase for camped survivors, but as it stands smart groups already love to play grab-ass or sit and heal around the hook (especially now with boons) as even chasing them around it gives the killer a pretty nasty BP penalty. Any mechanism to stop face-camping has to be done very carefully, or survivors will exploit it to create a safe-zone where killers can't threaten them.

  • @steezo_de said:

Nope. If I have a bad night, I'll stop and play something else. I love the game, but it doesn't mean I can't stop playing for a day or two.

If you can't because you're addicted (and this is meant as a general disclaimer), get some help-- gaming addiction is a real thing. You may even find that cutting all ties, including visiting any forums or watching any videos is the only way to go instead of staying attached to something that is doing you harm.

Anyway, my advice is to just take a week off and don't visit these complaint-heavy forums and letting it get into your head, thereby making your hiatus meaningless. Good luck.

At that point, it's pretty much cheating. Finding ways to do things that you shouldn't be able to is called exploiting.

How on earth cranking up DPI allows 180 degree turns while if you play at normal DPI you can't do it ? There is clearly a problem there. What about console players that are gamepad limited ?

I'm pretty sure there are other exploits i don't know about but well that's the two i see more and more.

    Wow.

    Two whole killer techs.

Meanwhile there are still spots where survivors can crawl on some maps where you can't pick them up, and at least one easily abusable infinite loop in RPD.

Wouldn't Nurse's calling be a good counter to Circle of healing? When your in the range of their auras, you'll also hear the totem nearby

Nope. The healing is so fast that they'll be done in literally 10 seconds.

My friend told me yesterday that most of his games, the Killer just facecamped/tunneled the first person that got unhooked at 5 gens. He then told me it was happening during all his game that night. It was also happening to me the whole weekend when playing. The Killer just seems to really want a 4k every game, so he basically tunnels someone at 5 gen. It’s not fun and it becames boring to play if it happens every game. My friend already told he wasn’t going to play anymore if BHVR doesn’t do anything about it and it’s sad that it still happening every time. Is it also happening to you as well when playing Survivor? BHVR, please do something about it!

    Okay. A few things.

    • Any claim that starts with 'my friend told me...' immediately comes over as disingenuous.
    • Yes, some killers facecamp. BHVR have...something in store to help this. However:
    • Tunneling is a valid strategy. Of course the killer wants to win, and it makes tactical sense to get one person (probably the biggest threat if possible) dead ASAP. Do you want a 4-out every game?
    • As things stand, it's entirely possible to lose 2 gens within the first minute of the game, and 4 gens by the time you get a real chase. SWF sweatsquads with PT, toolboxes and now boons make it easy to just whack out gens while being nearly invisible.
    • BHVR can't stop 'tunneling'. What you should be asking for is a tweak to gen speed at the upper end of addons/perks, so that killers aren't forced to tunnel someone. Then we can talk about some sort of mechanic to stop killers from doing it out of spite. Maybe.

This is why I've been playing killer lately. You will see this at every rank, even red / high mmr because it's extremely strong to get someone out of the match asap. The worst is when they proxy camp you til stage 2 and tunnel off hook trying to be as efficient as possible. This is why BT and DS are must have in literally every single match.

I asked during BHVR's last Q&A if there were any plans to address extreme face camping at the very least whether it be a way to discourage the killer from sitting there and literally face camping someone to death or at least giving the survivor being camped some consolation points (Distraction for example) and they said that they're working on something right now but that it might not be implemented.

We can only hope. My gripe, again is with extreme camping. I'm OK with slugging (Not forcing 4 people to bleed out though) and tunneling as they can both be high risk high reward. Camping however, on certain killers is just an unfair way to secure 1-2 kills, possibly even more and always gain MMR which is pathetic. This game is about chasing and being chased, not hitting someone on a hook and teasing them at their helplessness. Seriously, some killers are just bullies and they brag openly about it on here.

Agreed. This game should be about chasing and being chased.

However, survivors also need to abide by this.

There is no reason why I, as a killer, should be seeing gens fly by before I can even get a chase, or survivors negate this by abusing infinite loops on RPD or those obnoxious stealth boons that allow you to basically avoid chases entirely.

The problem isn't tunneling and camping alone. The problem is that, the game as is - especially on RPD/Haddonfield/Badham - is so incredibly difficult for some killers that they are forced into these strategies. Believe me, it's not much more fun for them.

This is about WHY so many killers do it, so it is connected to this thread.

There are 3 reasons why do it:

    1) survivors done multiple gens fast, so killer has feeling he needs to get someone from game asap to have chance to win

    2) killer is new and this is only tactic he knows and let's be honest, it just works really well against new players

    3) he just wants to drink from his cup filled with survivor's tears.

Camping can't really be fixed imo, there are times where it's not really killers fault and times where it is just best thing to do from his POV. Tunneling can be prevented by other survivors. What most survivors call "tunneling" is just not actual tunneling, it's just excuse to blame the killer.

I've been accused of tunneling/camping because:

    • A survivor followed me all the way to the hook, and I chased them and downed them right after.
    • Someone gets unlucky and runs directly to me off hook.
    • A survivor teabags and flashes me, then gets focused down. Why complain about getting my attention when you ask for my attention?
    • A survivor keeps coming back to the same gen that I'm defending.

Survivors really do seem to be going into matches with the expectation of escaping every time, and will DC/get salty in postgame if they don't on a regular basis.

There is indeed a bugfix patch planned for today! :)

Fantastic. Fingers crossed that the weirdness going on with MMR is also fixed.

I’d buy so many of those for RPD and Haddonfield.

    Holy crap yes.

Or just give us a map veto.

I can...tolerate Haddonfield and Badham, but RPD can eat a donkey.

So I'm living off of my mom (and I hate it)

I have put in applications all over where I live but no one seems interested in what I can bring

Do you have a university degree of any sort?

If so - look into teaching English abroad. Thailand, Japan, Vietnam, Korea - easy to get into, decent wages and most of them will train you for free.

I can survive any change BHVR makes but the hackers running free crosses the line. I doubt they'll ever fix it tho.

    It's a tricky one.

On one hand, EAC is a joke.

On the other hand, hackers are becoming crazily sophisticated, and even games like COD and Overwatch with top tier proprietary anti-cheats still have hackers.

They took a flamethrower to DS.

    And to OoO.

    And to maps in general.

    And to Keys (finally).

I'm all for criticizing BHVR and their inability to actually balance the game, but it's important to be fair and to not misrepresent the situation.

DS...what? No they didn't. They just stopped it from being used offensively in conjunction with lockers. That's not so much a nerf as it is a fix.

OoO is still crazy strong. It's former incarnation was essentially maphacks for SWF groups, and it took endless complaints from basically all the most influential killer players for...what? A year?.

Addons are a different matter. Don't even get me started on killer addon changes (or how many are still worse than an empty slot).

I really don't think I'm misrepresenting the situation at all. One of DbDs biggest flaws is that, historically, the developers have been absurdly survivor favored (remember the flashlight stun fiasco, how long it took to be reverted and how the devs constantly said 'no, we intend it to work this way and won't revert it' despite instant flashlight stuns being obviously broken?).

While they are better now, you only have to look at how frequently survivors DC the second they are hooked or even downed to see the problem. Survivors, especially long-timers, have been taught to expect to escape every match - and when they don't, they struggle to accept it. Especially from killers they've been taught not to worry about (hence Wraith nerf, despite him being mid-tier at best).

It makes it difficult to introduce strong, accessible killers. Especially when you consider that there are significantly more survivor players, meaning they have a direct financial incentive to keep those players engaged, even at the expense of killer mains.

    Hmmmm.

The comment you responded to was being facetious and making a joke of it.

    Was it? I'm not sure.

I recognized the poster from another thread, where he was demanding that BHVR let survivors exploit the uncleanse-able totem bug because sometime in the dusty dawn of DbD history some maps had the same issue with killer totems and weren't paused.
