Scourge Hook: Obliterate
Each time you hook a survivor on a scourge hook, a random pallet of unsafe/safe/god quality will be destroyed by the Entity. It does not matter if the pallet has been pulled or not.
If no pallets remain at that quality level, then a pallet of the next highest level will be destroyed instead.
Now that has potential to be broken but maybe something like destroying a pallet closest to the hooked survivor could work but good idea nonetheless

We haven't had an interesting hex in a while. Scourge hooks have a lot of potential
I kinda forgot they existed until now. They have a bit going for the idea of having a hook being the activation of the perk. Something like sabotaging the scourge hook gives you a negative status effect of some-sort wouldn't be such of a bad idea. There's probably many more but that's just one off the top of my head and could be a good way to make another meta perk

It's a gamble, sure - but to me it's a much smarter one.
It may be different at very high MMRs, but at my 'intermediate' MMR, survivors never cleanse it until 3 stacks unless I'm absurdly unlucky on spawns. Although watching Otz and co., they frequently get huge value out of it.
Once it's at 3 stacks, time has elapsed, I've hopefully already got a few hooks and the game space has narrowed down. It's much easier to turn them looking for it and me having an insta-down into pressure.
Boons are going to have to be nerfed. My guess is that they add a 60 second duration to it or something, after which it turns back into a dull totem.
I'm assuming I'm high mmr at this point because I face the same perks repeatably, but for me it's gone before the third stack most of the time and even if I get a down it's most likely gone right after. While I do believe that ruin is a juggernaut of a perk, I agree with the idea that if in low mmr where survivors ain't on meth rushing gens there can be potential for huge value but for me by the time the perk starts to be useful its gone
60's with a boon would make them completely useless in the sense that if you were to run COH to heal then you should've just healed in the first place. Maybe something like devour where after 3 stacks of healing others to another health state the perk activates then 5 stacks turns it into the perk we have now

To be fair, the chapter before last did give us Lethal Pursuer, which is more than strong enough to warrant being a meta perk. It's insanely good and weirdly slept on.
Only a few killers I can say work well with lethal pursuer, ghost face probably being the main one. Knowing where to get your first few 99's for the match is pretty good but otherwise this perk is not that good with other killers. Yes knowing where survivors spawn is good for a chase starter but besides that this perk is useless

DEADLOCK IS A META PERK. ITS GREAT WITH CORRUPT AS AN ALTERNATIVE TO RUIN/UNDYING ON LOW MOBILITY KILLERS
Deadlock is OK but nothing compared to the possible slow down at the start of the game with corrupt. If you have ruin active it can be helpful but survivors will camp and wait for deadlock to expire or do another gen

SBMM seemed to be working pretty well until the patch. It was a million times better than ranks (ie. killer matchmaking protections being disabled for almost a year).
Now...something has either been disabled or broken.
I really don't know why people complain about Ruin still. As a killer, it's a massive gamble, because savvy groups will either just brute force through it or it spawns right in the open next to a gen and is gone within a minute of the match starting. Honestly, there are at least 4 perks right now that are significantly more oppressive, and no I am not going into detail (rule #1 of killer: don't spread anything cool you find, as it will be nerfed).
Yes to maps. I'm at the point now where I just cable-yank the second I see an RPD offering, or AFK the match. No, I'm not going to play a map with an infinite loop right near the main hub that even intermediate survivors now know to run to immediately.
Devour is still an excellent perk. I honestly get more use out of it than Ruin, unless I'm playing 1 of 2 very specific killers.
The problem with boons isn't a numbers issue - it's a mechanics issue. Even assuming they balance COH out and fix the uncleanse-able totem spots (never a guarantee, there are still dead zones that survivors can crawl to where you can't pick them up), the idea of survivor totems just doesn't work.
A survivor team can spare someone to go and do the hex totem (hell, they even have a perk specifically for this!) but there is only 1 killer, who is permanently time-starved. By the time you've found the fiddly little thing (no aura, weird, inconsistent 'hum' SFX) survivors are on the other side of the map 99%'ing several gens and setting up another boon.
It's a cute idea, but just not one that works in DbD. It's on par with the instant flashlight stuns that the devs defended for ages, then pretended never happened.
Devour I honestly can't use without getting two stacks to then get cleansed last second, you call ruin a gamble but not devour but your probably thinking in the sense that survivors realize there's no ruin and continue to ignore the hex until 3 stacks and if that is the case, fair.
RPD is the only exception I'll give to the maps it is a maze if you don't know the layout, still playable but that one infinite can suck all life out of the map if survivors abuse it as most killers can't do anything to catch up.
Fixing COH or boons still probably won't do anything to prevent abuse from it. Healing without a medkit or self care is very rewarding without the struggle. Autodidact is a perk that comes to mind with risk/reward, if in the moment where a heal is needed and you don't have stacks your team punished for not setting up properly (even when the perk don't really help the player set up anyway) but if you do your rewarded for taking time off gens to heal. Maybe something like a stack system with this perk could do but overall with such little risk with huge reward it'll be used for a while

The meta is what’s fun and accustomed when you reach a certain skill gap imo. Ruin is the most annoying killer perk to go against currently and playing as killer I would say it’s the maps that are frustrating.
I wish the devs would stop releasing poorly designed unhealthy killers and redundant survivor perks and start making balance changes to the current maps AND START MAKING MORE OUTDOOR MAPS THAT PLAY LIKE COAL TOWER!
And get rid of this awful SBMM it solves nothing..
The meta for me is what I find bad imo. I want variety but most perks in this game barley have anything compared to the main 5 used with both killer and survivor (that extra one being pop and iron will). I want to use something like second wind with survivor because I see that as a fun perk but activating it is so difficult I normally go back to meta perks.
Plus meta has way more benefits than every other perk in the game, you get downed and getting slugged? Unbreakable. Tunneled? DS, even adrenaline can help in this scenario. Need distance to get to that pallet? Dead hard. Tell me at least four perks that help in any of the scenarios I just mentioned and you'll most likely come up with nothing better
Same with killer, look through all the perks and you won't find any better. The maps I find to be fine but I wish Hawkins got turned into a neon alleyway map for trickster as it's my personal favorite map to play

@jesterkind said:
Depends on what they do. I could see some pretty fun mechanics being added with boon totems, and some more refining of just how the mechanic functions.
Seems like it could be fun!
It would be fun but balancing is what I'm worried about, the game atm is a heal fest if you don't focus a survivor down and circle of healing is gonna be a perk that's going to be religiously used for a while. Plus people complain but just run haunted so if they cleanse it still is 60s of insta downs. I don't like them personally but with any good idea for them could be interesting but will probably pushed to the side

Maybe overboard but a muffled "Game Over" with Amanda from saw 2 ending when close to the pig would be great

Not as much of a new perk but a change to a existing one.
Deliverance
After performing a Safe Hook Rescue on another Survivor or you enter struggle while on hook, Deliverance activates:
Safe Hook Rescue:
- Your Self-Unhook attempts will succeed 100 % of the time.
Deliverance causes the Broken
Status Effect for 100/80/60 seconds after unhooking yourself.
Deliverance deactivates for the rest of the trial
Enter Struggle:
- Get one last Self-Unhook attempt while struggling with 4 % chance
Deliverance causes the Haste
Status Effect for 1/2/3 seconds after unhooking yourself
Deliverance deactivates for the rest of the trial
Let me know what you think :)

I know plenty of other things need to be fixed, changed or removed but here is one I'm not hearing much about: Doc. I am a killer main and after playing 5 match's with him I can deeply say hes the best killer in the game (right behind oni). With the right ad-dons he can dominate and your 100% of the time gonna get 4ks every game if you know what your doing. He can also use his ability to see if anyone's going for a flashlight save, find survivors and with teir 3 madness, you can find dying survivors easily. You can find other stuff with him but from my experience that's what I think
-

This is unacceptable. Really proves how dominating survivors can be. Yet BHVR thinks that gen speeds aren't a problem at all. This can even be done against a freddy.
They need to change things HEAVY with balance and Gameplay. If they dont listen then why should we.

tbh I don't know. I should have pointed out that I'm on PlayStation and they don't really share that info for some reason. If there was a way I would have been able to tell you actual numbers but I would have to assume 40-50 Hours. If you do know a place where I can get info like that let me know :)

OK... I LOVE nurses gameplay and I really don't vs her often, playing her is another story. I often have a go at her every 2 weeks and she can be great and satisfying to play. Don't often get 4k's with her but when you do its so good. P.S. Have not used noed + Blood warden + insidious yet but I wanna lol
-
Stupid. The gunslinger update didn't really change any of the meta perks and games can still fly bye even with the toolbox change (did they even change that BTW). Killers still a pain to play with and the only viable killer I really can play now is doc

After playing for 5 months: how often do you tend to face a team that is supposedly "above your skill" (I.E. people in higher ranks)

When starting the game, what was the most difficult thing to go against or play against on both sides?(hardest killer, most difficult map, etc)
Everything was new when I started so I had trouble knowing anything. The only real thing I knew was that bond was (and still is) a great beginner perk so I was a baby Dwight. The hardest killer to go against would've had to be Micheal since I didn't know he could stalk you then instantly down you lol, hardest to play had to be billy (you can imagine the amount of of times I bumped into objects lol). I cant say hardest map cause I wouldn't of been able to make a choice back then with the maps being great with some killers and trash with others.

I mainly play doc but I have the tendency to switch to wraith. I think doc is just op right now and wraith being underrated and not getting the love he deserves. I also used to play hag when i didn't have ruin as a teachable and nurse who for some reason is a on/off killer for me. I get a 3k one game and I miss blinks and don't get killers the next. Once gunslinger comes out though im gonna play him for a bit

It does somewhat, so thank you. My current theory is that it's largely a matter of attitude and possibly also background. My brother is super tilt-proof and he's also a game designer who enjoys games like Hearthstone (hugely RNG-based) and Dark Souls (notoriously unforgiving), so he's good at analysing things objectively and not getting too worked up over a single loss.
Oh, game designer. I'm interested in seeing his work but is probably busy with something else. Adding onto the answer I gave I also look at ranks and what that specific rank comes with what specific perks. If im in purple i'm normally with purples (and the reds that are in my game for some weird reason) so I find what perks are normally used in that rank so I can prepare myself early (unless the dudes farming everything then I overthink lol)

Well, I personally thought it was fun back then, but I can't speak for anyone else. Presumably, if they're still playing, they also enjoyed the game when they first started. But I also think having posts like this is great, because the whole point is that you don't have that kind of background and so you might see the game, the patches, the patterns in changes differently from how I would see them, and so bring some unique insights to the table.
On-topic, my brother is also a killer main who has been playing for about as long as you have. He has different ideas about the game and the balance from those I typically see from killer mains on the forums, and I'm trying to figure out why that is. So my question for you is, what is your general attitude to the matches you play? What expectations do you have going in, and how do you react if you lose, especially if the loss felt unfair (bad matchmaking, RNG, etc.)?
Interesting you had it back then. Anyways the answer to your question is I have a chill attitude for the first match of the day cause I can get easy games with the lower ranks or get completely smashed with red ranks in my lobby even though i'm in purple (what's up with that?). After my first match I get a feel of what i'm coming up against. I normally think that im gonna get at least two killers before the others escape but the times I have been completely smashed I normally look at perks first to see why different things happened in that match with those players to find a solution either by myself or surfing the forums. And if I do lose to RNG, bad matchmaking I either report issues I have with it to the support team or completely lash out and quit for the day. Hope that answers your question :)

OP is probably aware of that; I don't think they were pretending to be a veteran player, just explaining their situation so others understand where they're coming from in their answers.
No where near veteran status. I do give appreciation to those who are veteran players being from the beginning because this game wouldn't have been big back then and it might have been fun as well (haven't seen any gameplay from launch until the saw update trailer)
-
@SpaceCoconut said:
How do you feel about the dev's balance choices?
I feel like there giving more stuff to work around the killer than vice versa. Me playing in a SWF group a few times has taught me a few times how much they get to communicate vs being a solo. Killers are (in my opinion) getting the boot more and more with no changes to some of the meta perks the survivors get. With killers it's more open ended and you have to experiment with the killer and his power but survivors just chose a character and get the perks they need and there good. I just hope the killers get a buff sooner than later
-
Doc is my main and that explains my climb to red ranks. Doc is overpowered with iridescent add-ons and the right map (for me it's hawkins laboratory). I'll also normally run a add-on to see the killers illusions.
-
Steve, Nancy, Tapp and that one thick one
-
Don't blame you. SWF teams are the worst thing to verse against and facecamping can get you a few kills (Possibly). Until the devs do something im gonna be proxying and facecamping more often
-
I being a ps4 player am down for keyboard and mouse functionality for the game but I never really get why people think its an advantage. Its a keyboard with over 50 keys your not gonna all use and a mouse where you can do 180s and 360 which you can already do on console with the right sens and practice. This would be the section where someone would say "jUsT GeT GoOd" but what I say, if it does get enabled.
Adapt

I haven't and there lies another issue i have with them. How many times have you bought a Iridescent buyable cosmetic? Hope many times have you spent them in the shrine? And how many times have you spent them on a non licenced killer or survivor? Yeah, not much because the amount you get per level is way too small. For starter levels it's a great way to start but from level 30 upwards it stays the same for something you now have to spend a full 2-3 hours to get. Either increase the amount you get or decrease the prices for the shrine, characters or cosmetics
-
Hell yeah its advantage for a lot of simple reasons
- Communications between 4 solos vs a SWF group have a great difference with solos being only able to... point and hand signal to come here? and STW teams being able to fully communicate through mics.
- Groups can come up with people who do pacific jobs to help out the team while solos have to make them on the spot in the lobby.
- Perks. My god the perks. SWF groups mostly know what they are all running before they enter a match but solos have no communication between all 4 of there perk slots and what there perk build is all about.
Hopefully they help us killers out with all the SWF soon but until then the queue time just got longer
-
I think my ears have heard the sound so much i hear the hatch for some reason lol
