Monto would probably be a great ambassador for this program but he doesn't stream to my knowledge... And of course I'd apply too ;)

Monto is very toxic so no thank you.

    How so?
  • I was genuinely bummed out that there wasn't a blighted hag in the mix.

I wonder why not all unlicensed killers and survivors couldn't get some gold glowy goodness.

  • The killer wouldn't be robbed of hook and sacrifice points at least
  • Wow lyric is mad...

The killer would still have to hit and hook the survivor giving you time to hide or move to a different area.

Right now if a survivor dcs the killer gets an instant kill saving several minutes of chase and bleed time.

Isn't it technically an easy 4k if a survivor DCs anyway? This solves some inbalances with it occurring.
  • There are a few reasons why Rank doesn't matter in DbD.

The rank experience between Survivor and Killer is very different, and since I'm a Killer main I will focus on that side of it. Some aspects will still apply to Survivors though.

Killer rank is universal: Each killer plays differently and requires various amounts of skill and practice to do well with. Since Killer rank is universal between all killers a player who gets to Rank 1 with Hag is labeled Rank 1 with all killers. Even if that players skill with Hillbilly is Rank 15 at best. All survivors are practically skins and their play styles do not vary between each other so a blanket ranking works well.

The Emblem System: This system is not effective in measuring a player's skill. It only keeps track of activities and applies an arbitrary score to them. I've read several survivors mention that all they had to do to pip was a small list of activities during a match. Doing this over several matches given enough time will inevitably result in Rank 1. The same can be said for a killer. If they don't complete the minimum requirements they will not pip. It's easy to say that it requires skill to do enough to pip, but I think it could be more attributed to practice instead. We've all seen players at the higher ranks that make you wonder how they got there.

Time and Luck: In order to get to Rank 1, a bad player only needs to play enough matches to pip more than they de-pip. This also includes lucky matches against other bads, or matches where the killer lets you go, or the survivors make poor choices or dc's, or any number of favorable situations for the player. Skill isn't necessary.

Matchmaking: Their poor matchmaking system groups players together as best it can, but because the ranking system isn't skill-based it doesn't really matter.

Rank reset: A player who has reached rank 1 will revert to rank 10. Their skill level has not changed and it will only be a matter of time until they reach rank 1 again. A player who posts an accomplishment and is blasted for being rank 15 or 20 could be a former rank 1 player who simply didn't play for a few months.

More skilled players in higher ranks: While this is true, it does not make rank itself matter. Upon reset, those players are all rank 10ish. Think about this like a cup of muddy water. After a period of time the same material gathers at one point in the environment. Then someone stirs it up making everything go everywhere again. Because it's so easy to rank up the majority of players will end up in the same group of players. Some good, some bad. You might end up with more difficult matches, but it's not because you're at any particular rank, it's because you went up against particular players who could be at rank 1 as well as rank 10.

These are my thoughtsvas a hag main with 1500ish hours, I've also made a video about this but the focus was against the argument that Rank determined killer viability.

  • The second match in this video is relevant to the conversation. Skip to 27:15

    https://youtu.be/IOFLUvAJAJ4

  • It's funny how Vietfox basically said I'm not listening to your arguments anymore let's take this outside and fight and I'll prove you wrong.

This is why you recognize and ignore these types of people.
  • I'm not sure how the hatch really affected anything. The gate was already open, the other survivor easily could have left through it. You lost 1 kill, not 2.

Also, have you tried not staking your emotions on a video game? Would help you not feel bad.
Without knowing the area layour with active traps and gate locations if course you're not sure how the hatch affected the match at the time.

Suffice to say that it would have been a 3k with a race to the gate for the fourth.
  • Why should a survivor be able to recover from exhaustion while on a meat hook? It kind of doesn't make any sense to me gameplay wise.

If you want to say it's a counter to camping, it's really not. The killer isn't forced to leave the hook and stop camping if you're on the hook recovering from exhaustion.

“Game is in the best state it’s ever been for Killers. Quit whining” ~ Bias Survivor players 2018.

It’s just a sad fact. Developers have fixed quite a bit of the broken stuff for Survivors, but there is still broken stuff. Gen Rush, Hatch, DS, SC, SB (which the exhaustion nerf didn’t even effect it. Actually getting a buff now you can SB off hook every single time and use the I-Frames from it with impunity.)

Just because they fixed some of the broken stuff, Survivors will say that Killers should “be fine” now with whatever stuff is still broken in their favor, cause there used to be even more.

I'm just going to ignore Vietfox since we all know the intelligent conversation we'll have if we don't...

But it's true. It's really unfortunate that the devs really don't understand how unfair and imbalanced some of these mechanics are. Thankfully they're being looked at, but it's probably too late.

There are other games in the genre on the horizon that show a lot of promise and the devs of those games have outwardly spoken about how they'll be different than other games currently in the market.

Time will tell, but if they can deliver a better gameplay experience then the DbD devs might have to step up their game and concede to what everyone has been telling them for years.

Oh this is beautiful. I assume it would apply to killers too.

With the current "host" system setup the game has this wouldn't be able to track Killer DCs. But I do like the idea as a whole.

    Actually it does.

it's a weak way to send a message to people that dc too much. make it simple and give them a timeout. The devs should work on a new feature that benefits the majority than the few that dc allot.

Unless it prevents them from coming into your lobby at all. What better message to send to DC'ers than to make them play with other DC'ers?

  • I had a match today where I had one of the last 2 of a swf on the ground while chasing the other. The runner dodged me long enough for the dying to get to the hatch and dc'd. Giving the downed the hatch.

DC's are a big problem on their own. When combined with other imbalanced mechanics of the game it's just another tool for players to "win" especially if they keep everything they've gotten during the match...

  • Allow killers to mori the obsession for the remainder of the match after struck with a longer stun time and I might be ok with it.

  • Like Killers.

Making their hit boxes the actual size of the killer would eliminate looping...

  • Even when they ask for it... A Rancor Mori without a DC will be rare.

A wanted FIX Indeed! Killers always lose their stuff, why survivors dont? =/

Yeah tell me again how the survivors counter black ward.

It’s bs that Franklin’s can Counter White Ward when the killer doesn’t have to worry about losing his/her add-ons when they have Black Ward.

Just pick the item up again.

It might also ease some of the pain we have to deal with when playing weaker killers with "necessary" addons that are ultra rare.

lol, are you the real dude?  i posted this same video yesterday, i believe.  thank you for your videos.  they have helped a great deal with hag and enabled me to reach rank 1 as killer for the first time.
Yup! I'm glad you found them useful and congratulations!!
  • This thread makes me happy.

Maybe the guide I made with other Hag mains has truly created a new wave of Hag players..
  • how will the winners be chosen?

The details are in the video :)
  • Sounds like you went up against a new hag player. Camping is a reasonable strategy while learning the game and in tactical situations.

Your Nerf suggestions are too much and should be reconsidered with true balance in mind rather than anecdotal evidence from bad matches.

Hag is much better than she used to be and nerfing her would be equivalent to the flashlight and pallet stun situation we had months ago.

Play hag to red ranks and then suggest nerfs. Until then, youre just whining.
  • People play the way they want to play.

    Suck it up.

Is nobody going to say that @TydeTyme was right? There were a lot of people insulting him when he uploaded his "Another weak killer" video.

Everyone was expecting another weak killer after the devs mentioned how they wanted to make "fun" killers instead of "competitive" killers.

Plus, who actually expected the devs to create a strong killer? No one.

  • "I know that mechanically it might be difficult"
    Way ahead of you brother.

  • Take this with a grain of salt.

I mean it's not like they would make flashlights and pallets stun during the pickup animations... Again.

  • Yea, unfortunately it looks like PTB wait times are going to be very long again. I hope to get at least one match in this time like I did for the last PTB...

  • What's the status of the leaderboards and individual killer ranks?

It's not fun to play with a killer I'm not good with against more skillful survivors.

Japanese has Multiple ways to say one word its weird lol

    English is worse.

    Dearest creature in creation,
    Study English pronunciation.
I will teach you in my verse
Sounds like corpse, corps, horse, and worse.
I will keep you, Suzy, busy,
Make your head with heat grow dizzy.
Tear in eye, your dress will tear.
So shall I! Oh hear my prayer.

Just compare heart, beard, and heard,
Dies and diet, lord and word,
Sword and sward, retain and Britain.
(Mind the latter, how it's written.)
Now I surely will not plague you
With such words as plaque and ague.
But be careful how you speak:
    Say break and steak, but bleak and streak;
    Cloven, oven, how and low,
Script, receipt, show, poem, and toe.

Hear me say, devoid of trickery,
    Daughter, laughter, and Terpsichore,
    Typhoid, measles, topsails, aisles,
    Exiles, similes, and reviles;
    Scholar, vicar, and cigar,
    Solar, mica, war and far;
    One, anemone, Balmoral,
    Kitchen, lichen, laundry, laurel;
    Gertrude, German, wind and mind,
    Scene, Melpomene, mankind.

Billet does not rhyme with ballet,
    Bouquet, wallet, mallet, chalet.
Blood and flood are not like food,
Nor is mould like should and would.
    Viscous, viscount, load and broad,
    Toward, to forward, to reward.
    And your pronunciation's OK
    When you correctly say croquet,
    Rounded, wounded, grieve and sieve,
Friend and fiend, alive and live.

    Ivy, privy, famous; clamour
    And enamour rhyme with hammer.
    River, rival, tomb, bomb, comb,
Doll and roll and some and home.
Stranger does not rhyme with anger,
    Neither does devour with clangour.
Souls but foul, haunt but aunt,
Font, front, wont, want, grand, and grant,
Shoes, goes, does. Now first say finger,
    And then singer, ginger, linger,
Real, zeal, mauve, gauze, gouge and gauge,
    Marriage, foliage, mirage, and age.

Query does not rhyme with very,
Nor does fury sound like bury.
Dost, lost, post and doth, cloth, loth.
    Job, nob, bosom, transom, oath.
    Though the differences seem little,
    We say actual but victual.
Refer does not rhyme with deafer.
    Foeffer does, and zephyr, heifer.
    Mint, pint, senate and sedate;
Dull, bull, and George ate late.
    Scenic, Arabic, Pacific,
    Science, conscience, scientific.

    Liberty, library, heave and heaven,
    Rachel, ache, moustache, eleven.
    We say hallowed, but allowed,
    People, leopard, towed, but vowed.
    Mark the differences, moreover,
    Between mover, cover, clover;
    Leeches, breeches, wise, precise,
    Chalice, but police and lice;
    Camel, constable, unstable,
    Principle, disciple, label.

    Petal, panel, and canal,
    Wait, surprise, plait, promise, pal.
Worm and storm, chaise, chaos, chair,
    Senator, spectator, mayor.
Tour, but our and succour, four.
    Gas, alas, and Arkansas.
    Sea, idea, Korea, area,
    Psalm, Maria, but malaria.
Youth, south, southern, cleanse and clean.
    Doctrine, turpentine, marine.

    Compare alien with Italian,
    Dandelion and battalion.
    Sally with ally, yea, ye,
Eye, I, ay, aye, whey, and key.
    Say aver, but ever, fever,
    Neither, leisure, skein, deceiver.
    Heron, granary, canary.
    Crevice and device and aerie.

    Face, but preface, not efface.
    Phlegm, phlegmatic, ass, glass, bass.
Large, but target, gin, give, verging,
Ought, out, joust and scour, scourging.
Ear, but earn and wear and tear
Do not rhyme with here but ere.
Seven is right, but so is even,
    Hyphen, roughen, nephew Stephen,
    Monkey, donkey, Turk and jerk,
Ask, grasp, wasp, and cork and work.

    Pronunciation — think of Psyche!
Is a paling stout and spikey?
Won't it make you lose your wits,
    Writing groats and saying grits?
It's a dark abyss or tunnel:
Strewn with stones, stowed, solace, gunwale,
    Islington and Isle of Wight,
    Housewife, verdict and indict.

Finally, which rhymes with enough —
Though, through, plough, or dough, or cough?
Hiccough has the sound of cup.
My advice is to give up!!!*

  • I understand the feeling. There's nothing about what we know so far that is exciting. All we know for sure is that we might be getting a guy with a sword.

There's no hint to his power or the perks of the killer or survivor which are the main things that (I personally) people get excited about. Additionally, the devs made sure to mention that they don't make killers to be competitive at high ranks, they make them to be fun. This makes me skeptical about the new killer who might just be there for the perks at this point.

Fun is subjective and lots of people have fun competitively, but unfortunately, the devs don't seem to want to encourage that side of the playerbase.

This might help also even though it's outdated.

SWF absolutely brings benefits that need to be offset but I'm not a fan of punishing someone as a way to balance the game. I'd rather the killer get a buff of some sort.

The only problem with giving the Killer a buff to counter SWF, is the solo players out there get screwed. It has to be the SWF that get the debuff. Its their choice for grouping up together, so the debuff should be theirs to endure.

The problem with this is it’s basically punishing people for wanting to have a more enjoyable experience with the game
The same can be said against swf.

The problem with this is it's basically punishing people (killers) for those who want to have a more enjoyable experience with the game (swf).
