I’m seeing so many bait threads today, stop drawing so many conclusions and wait until the ptb. If your seriously mad your baby mode god loops are gone get good, learn how to skillfully loop and stop relying on broken crutches. And I don’t want to hear nun from you survs because you guys did nothing but laugh at killers who complained about the ruin nerf.
Unfortunately you don't get to control who replies to your thread. For the record a good portion of us didn't point and laugh over ruin and are not complaining about the changes because they haven't even been seen yet. Someone is allowed to disagree with the changes, though I agree the way it's being voiced at the moment is a little too chicken little "The sky is falling because things are changing!" However i find it ironic you ask people to stop posting bait threads while calling survivor "Baby Mode" using the ever mature "Get good" and calling in game mechanics "Crutches"
Not exactly inviting people for a topical discussion or much of an invitation to see things from your point of view.

I really really hope to see more nursies on console, you guys are my favourite killers to face whether I win, lose or end up memeing with you.
Personally i didn't see the need to nerf anything but a few addons, but what's done is done. Come back nursies, I miss you all!

using it will simply make the gens go the same speed as usual, so there's no testing there, not using it will make survivors test the speed decrease, so if you'd use prove thyself, you pretty much play as usual in the live, so not using it makes you really test the changes
But why do you want to test gen speeds without additional perks affecting it, when we know that survivors are gong to adapt to this new change by using perks. Yes you can see how the changes work without the buffs. But when it goes live, survivors will already be adapting and using perks to push gens in their favour. The meta changes every time an update effects their normal game play, and those are the games that are going to matter.
So if nobody used anything to speed up gen times, and I'm pretty sure there is more than just prove thyself, you would have your data. But now you're in an actual game and things are different because people are using perk combos and items that they weren't in the PTB, rendering most of that data inaccurate.
Again, I'm not picking a fight or anything here, but if you truly want to see how this is going to effect your future games, asking people not to use stuff they are likely going to use from now on, probably isn't going to be as helpful as you think.

the perk is literally the same as now, so it makes 0 differences
So why would using it in PTB be an issue?
I'm not spoiling for an argument here but I don't get the logic. Either Prove thyself makes 0 difference therefore it won't impact your testing, or it does make a difference, hence your request, which means survivors are going to want to test how it affects the new changes.
Isn't that what PTB is for?
-
And what about the survivors who wish to test how perks and this new change will work together in the PTB?
Lets face it, with these new changes stufflike prove thyself may well become more meta. Not having it in the PTB isn't going to give you accurate data for later games.
I'm a console scrub so I can't enter the PTB, but if you want an accurate test of how gen times will now effect you, you have to account for the extra's that are bound to be used in order to adapt, such as prove thyself.

As long as there was a function to turn it of. Personally I hate the idea of chat on console, I already had to stop receiving messages from people outside my friends list because of this game. However I recognise how some people might like it, and if it had an off switch, it really wouldn't do me or anyone else who didn't want it, any harm.

"as a survivor who is abusing discord they make the game less fun and less difficult on their end where as harder for the killer"
Those who use Discord are not abusing the game. It is not cheating. This statement has been confirmed and reinforced by the Devs and the Mods several times over. It doesn't matter if you dislike it or disagree with it, that does not make it abuse. Neither is being in an SWF itself, the option to play in an SWF is there for a reason and Devs are not going to punish or penalize players by adding debuffs or taking away perks, just for having the audacity to use a function they implemented themselves. It would be a stupid business move, and as much as the Devs have a passion for the game and want it to continue, it is still their livelyhood. They are not going to hobble people for daring to play with their friends.
Could something be done to address the balance. Probably yes. And i sincerely hope they do because I'm tired of the continuous threads of both sides accusing Devs of favouritism, or accusing the other side for being noobs or sweaty for using perks, items, addons and tactics that are part of the game.
" cause they abuse several things a survivor can do "
No. Using in game mechanics is not abuse. It is called playing the game. I might not like tunnelling or camping. But they are part of the game and I accept them. Even when it's me hanging from the hook.
"my final point i want to make is im not asking for over the top balancing but something that makes it harder for people using discord and abusing game mechanics"
Say it with me again folks; Unless you are hacking or exploiting a bug, Using Perks, Items, addons and in game tactics, is not abuse!
If a killer tunnels me off a hook and Mori's me..it's not abuse. If a killer keeps slugging me because they decided that today I must spend the entire game bleeding out on the floor, Its not abuse of the game mechanics. If a killer brings double pink addons and a mori to a game, still not abuse. This fad of calling everything that doesn't work specifically for us as 'abuse' is ridiculous and has rendered the word meaningless. If you are playing the game with the ways and means provided to you, you are simply playing the game, not bullying someone because you happen to be succeeding.
There are problems with this game, but they are mostly buried under cries of "It's not fair!" or "This perk/addon/item/tactic is bullying me!". I have to imagine that the mods must look at some of these threads and sigh with resignation.

I swear every time I unhook someone and want to use For the People, they just take off. Like let me heal you dammit! You're on final hook!
And on top of that, stop running away from two survivors when at least one of those people need to be healed, and the killer is on the other side of the map. You ain't gonna get any safer than where we are right now.
I feel your pain, I run We'll make it and have recently vowed to stop chasing people halfway across the map to heal them up.
-
You know what...if it is a crutch perk....who cares?
Are people on either side honestly going to say they don't go out into their games with perks that are going to help them?
I really, really don't get this fascination of picking apart every aspect of this game because it happens to give an advantage to the opposite side. Honestly this game has become less about playing the actual gameplay and more about playing whack-a-mole with the other sides perks, trying to see who can get what nerfed if they complain about it long enough.
"Noed gives killers a one shot they don't deserve nerf it!"
"DS gives invisibility(?) nerf it!"
"Infectious fright is unfair!"
"Ubreakable is unfair!"
Just play the damn game, these things are counterable. They might be hard to counter but that's the damn point! The game isn't here for players to try and cater it around themselves. I don't deny there might be some things for the devs to look at, but every cry for a nerf that i see, rarely comes with a fair and balanced alternative, it's always "I don't like it, so make it better for me!"
The state of the game and the community right now, is such that I have to come onto the forums to make sure that things like We'll make it, or Kindred aren't up on the chopping board next because people have suddenly decided it's their turn to be called 'unfair'.
Perks give advantages, that is their purpose. Every perk has a counter, whether it is to your liking or not, NOED has a counter, even AFTER it is activated. Don't want to get punished by it at endgame. Leave the gates, find the totem and then you stand a better part. NOED has only ever been a crutch perk if people let it. If you are last left alive and you get hit with NOED, that sucks, been there before. But if NOED activates when there are still 4 of you up.....well the killer can't run in 3-4 opposite directions. Find the damn totem. And before the age old argument of "But some totems are hard to find", there are literally perks and item for it. And to those who say "Why should I waste a perk/item slot?".....you don't you just don't get to whine because you didn't want to use it.
End of rant, flame away if you must but I'll stick to my opinion. People need to play the game and stop looking for ways to cater the other sides mechanics/perks/addons/items, to their own liking.
-
Never had an issue with NOED personally. You do the bones, you don't get NOED. You don't even have to prioritise them over gens. Just remember the places you saw a totem, and break it when it procs. Yes, NOED can turn nasty, but that's a toss of a coin. Sometimes it's out in the open, other times it's being sneaky and in a really good hiding place. The killer does not get to place his totem, he doesn't get to find out where it is until endgame and so can't camp it. It's a useless perk till endgame, and even then it can be destroyed or already gone.
It's an effective perk, but only if you let it be. No perk that you can neutralise so easily, needs that much of a nerf.
There is even a survivor perk that rewards you for doing totems. I love using Inner Strength. I'd take it over spending 5 mins to heal in a corner any day. But that is admittedly, a personal preference.
I know it Can be irritating to do well in a match, only to be one hit downed near the exit gates but the coin is never always going to be tossed in your favour, and that's the way it should be.
Totems have been around for a good long time, and now we have a perk that rewards totem breaking with a quick and free health state, and while a totem counter would be cool, there is really not much of an excuse not to do them other than personal choice.

I see your points. I don't really see on red rank ps4, kindred being ran and i doubt they will give up a meta perk for kindred. Also, per the Devs, there aren't suppose to be that many 4 man swf.
The map also effects this to. Not all hooks are completely in view or out in open so there could still be some benefit.
And again, even if its a 2 or 3 man swf, still feel it would help out more than hurt.
Really? I've been seeing it an awful lot in my survivor games. I even run it myself because it's so damn useful. Not disputing your claim at all, but your experience is very different than my own. Not counting my own kindred, 3 out of every 5 games i'm in seems to have it.
-
I have personally seen plenty of killers in the red ranks, smashing through teams with terrifying builds that do not contain ruin. I barely see a nurse these days, Billy's are thinning out while people play other killers, even spirit isn't as prominent as she used to be. I don't refute that Ruin's change has made game life more difficult for you, but now is a good time to adapt. I'm not being snarky, I'm really not, but if you relied on Ruin that heavily that you can't play without it, perhaps it really is time for a new build or perhaps even a new killer.
Not every red ranks game is against an SWF, I'm sorry but it just isn't, I've played enough killer and survivor to know that it's impossible for you to get that many full coordinated teams in a row. Some killers really do need to accept that survivors have gotten good at the game with the tools provided to them, rather than blame everything on the mechanics. I have been seeing far less perk slots filled with only 'second chance perks', people are branching out. Yes there are those that will cling to the perks that seem to give them an easier time, but lets be fair...no killer is loading into a lobby without a build aiming to do exactly the same.
Personally I never saw a reason to nerf ruin, I learned the game practicing those skill checks, but neither do I think the sky is falling for killers just because it has been changed. People have given you good examples of how you might be able to change up the game play, but at the end of the day only you can decide if you can make them work for you, or if you are done with the game till they maybe change it back.
Personally I hope it's the former. I genuinely hope you can find a different way to play. Who know's, ruin may one day be reverted, but if not, it's worth a try.

Interesting! I would've thought Kindred would be a wasted perk slot with SWF. Whenever I check perks post-game I always assume Kindred = solo. I guess Kindred and comms would make coordination super effective, but I wouldn't know. You do make me want to try Open Handed again though...
https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1190188#Comment_1190188
Y'know what, I tried it with Bond but I never tried it with Empathy. I always felt it would be overkill. But I did a few matches just now (along with Open Handed cuz, y'know, in for a penny in for a pound) and it is fun! Makes me feel like some sort of mastermind especially if the killer is using hit-and-run tactics; but IDK, feels a bit like "crippling overspecialisation". But I'll keep trying!
Oh it is over specialiation. I suuuuck at running loops, so i run a kindred, we'll make it, empathy build and use the last perk slot for anything extra. I am basically a gen fixing ambulance. With so much info I can move around the map doing all the behind the scenes stuff while the decent loopers keep the killer distracted. 95% of my hook saves are safe and I'm never on the gen when the killer goes by. So much potential when you mix in a last perk like prove thyself, for the people, solidarity, deliverance etc...

TL;DR. My solo arse adores Kindred so much and for so many different reasons that I feel naked without it – and it’s given me some sympathy and insight into SWF. Does anyone else feel this way about Kindred? Or SWF? Or maybe other perks?
I think it’s fair to say Kindred is the best solo survivor perk, but I actually don’t hear that said very often. I don’t know if that’s because solo is becoming less common or because what we put in those four perk slots is crazy competitive. But for me, at 1,200+ hours, Kindred is the only S-Tier survivor perk.
When a teammate gets hooked, I can determine who’s closest to the hook, and then I can make the correct decision of whether I should keep working on my gen or go for that save. Or maybe I see someone else going to the save, but suddenly they dart away [maybe I see that aura injured]. I now know for a fact that they were going for the save, but now can’t. So I get the save. And there are many variants of that scenario I can read with 99% accuracy. This makes one-hooking non-existent and two-hooking extremely rare.
But I loved this perk even before its buff. Kindred has always given me a great sense of confidence in my team when I’m the one hooked. I know they will coordinate around the intel Kindred gives them in the same way I would. I watch their three auras react appropriately. Every, single, time. It’s almost like, oh, IDK, I’m telling them to make the best possible play. [*looks innocuous*]
I know there’ll be no wasted time like someone running halfway to my hook, then seeing me unhooked, and then having to run back to their 70% gen by which time the killer may have found it. And time saves like that really add up – killers would agree.
Theoretically, Kindred should also be the supreme anti-camping perk, but camping is rare to the point of meaninglessness anyway. What does come up is the killer returning to the hook, but I can tell when they do and thus slow my approach, waiting for the time to dash for the unhook judging by how long the hooked player has before they “lose a life”.
But all of those things get talked about at least rarely. What doesn’t get talked about is bonus intel. Maybe there’s one gen left and someone gets hooked? I can see if someone else is already working on a gen and go to them if I don’t go for the save. There’s loads of little things like that.
Trappers, Hags and Demos that trap near the hook are compromised. If a Hillbilly, Nurse or Spirit turns directly to another survivor aura [that I can also see] and starts making a b-line, I know there’s a high probably they’re running BBQ & Chilli and got the same proc I did [to name three killers who notoriously use BBQ – Spirit would stand still and stare at them. Or me].
And then there’s the cheeky BBQ Huntress who thinks she can hit me across the map – think again. I know exactly where you’re aiming and if it’s at me, you will miss. And then there’s BBQ Freddy, who I can see face me and start channelling his Dream Projection before my gen starts spewing blood thus giving me a head start.
All of this gives me an edge – and it gives me an edge in the knowledge that Kindred isn’t something killer players give much thought to! The “Blindness” status ailment isn’t respected. I play killer 40% of the time so I know how they think – you could say I’m... “Kindred”.
But then I stopped running Kindred.
Holy.
Hell.
All of that is gone. I get two-hooked in multiple trials. I run to the unhook just to realise I wasted my time. Killers get the drop on me much easier. Swapping for Dead Hard, We’ll Make It, even Decisive Strike just isn’t worth it for a solo! I felt like I was playing the game blindfolded. And then I realise: Kindred’s my crutch. Just another sad dependency.
But then I think, SWF must have the same realisation. Maybe Kindred isn’t as powerful as SWF, and I need to sacrifice a perk slot for the pleasure, but maybe when SWF go solo they feel the same way – and thus stick to SWF – and thus contribute to the poison of DBD.
Hell, you could argue [bravely] that Kindred is better than SWF because Kindred gives you the information instantly, whereas with SWF a player would need to clearly and articulately say what is happening, possibly with a laggy vocal delay, and while competing with three other voices, who then need to process what they've just ben told.
I guess I owe SWF an apology. I looked down on them. I’m sorry.
But i still think killers should be buffed.
Also Kindred rules.
I don’t know if I made that clear enough.
I'm right there with you buddy, and if you pair it up with Empathy it's pretty powerful. I could give a looooong list of how many victories Kindred has given me and the teams I end up with but I think you have underlined it all pretty damn perfectly.
-
I loathe camping from both sides of the coin. But even as someone who plays more survivor, I accept that if i'm on hook when the gens are done, a killers gotta do what a killers gotta do. Maybe you can pull off a save, perhaps you want to be altruistic and not leave a man behind. None of those things are bad, but nobody should expect a killer to not secure at least one kill in a match, or use the tactic of counting on your altruism. Whether you go for that save or you don't, there is nothing that says the killer has to step aside and simply let you when you had a clear escape.
-
I once had a match with a huntress who was obviously new and kinda got stomped. To give them their due however, they really tried, without camping or tunnelling. This was before the EGT so my friend and I stayed and spent 20 or so minutes acting like a cross between whack a mole and a shooting range. When she started getting better at her shots we had her hook us.
If a killer is having an obvious hard time, I will occasionally stay and snag them some more points, but if they start face camping, imma punish by either just hanging there or getting gens done.
If two or more dc I'll hand myself over, its up to the killer if they want to farm or just take a free kill, and i don't begrudge them the latter. When it comes to farming, I will always try and get the killer to final hook me once the gates are open.
I just try to remember that the person behind the killer is another human being, and occasional kindness goes a long way.

Well, I personally prefer stealth and completing objectives to being chased. I enjoy the sense of fulfillment it gives me to know I'm directly contributing to my team's success. I can think of at least one other person whose stream I like to watch who feels the same way.
Yeah I'm pretty much the same. I mean i'll interact with the killer, but only if he finds me. I'm not going to pick running out into the middle of the map doing jazz hands to be noticed, over stealthing around a tree when the killer passes a gnats hair away from me. Not my job to be seen, its the killers job to find me.

It really is a one sided thing, I’ve never been messaged by a killer
No, it isn't. I have been called a c**t, w***e, threatened with sexual assault, death, wished that I have cancer. Now this is from someone who does not run any of the 'Meta' or 'second chance' perks. I don't BM, nor do I use keys or make it my job to make the killer's life miserable. Wanna know what I did to deserve these insults?
I got out.
Or i saved someone.
So don't think for a second it's one sided. Both are just as nasty and vicious as the other. You don't don a survivor hat and suddenly you become toxic, its a personal choice and since most play both sides it has nothing to do with which side you're on. This doesn't make OP's complaint about the messages he receives invalid at all, but in no way is it one sided.
To the op I simply advise that you close chat if on PC and disable messages from anyone not in your friends list on console. It is not worth your time nor your sanity to listen to such tripe. Trust me, i was miles more relaxed at playing once I didn't have vicious threats thrown my way, for doing nothing more than my function in the game.
-
I tend not to wait at the gates. Not because I want to deny the killer a few extra points, but if other survivors start tea bagging then i don't really want to be connected to that. Id rather win with good graces, not shove the loss down the killers throat.
-
I know my strengths, I'm not the best looper, so the so called "Crutch Perks" don't appeal to me. I use Empathy, Kindred, and we'll make it and I'll chop and change the last one. This build gives me tons of info to move around the map and perform almost 90% safe hooks. If I don't have time for a very fast heal at the hook, empathy lets me track the survivor to heal them later before We'll make it runs out.
Now it seems that this doesn't take a lot of input from me, but when you calculate the pros of someone who can get your team unhooked and healed without handing the killer another hook 5 seconds later, it can be invaluable to team momentum, while slowing down the killers. I know a lot of people show disdain towards people who can't do the EZ loops, but in a climate where a lot of us are in solo matches, something as simple as being able to track the killer (either by empathy showing me whos being chased and where or kindred showing me where the killer is leaving the hook), then safely unhook, heal and get you back on a gen...it can be a surprising boost to the survivor side.
I've seen too many lemmings run to the hook and basically feed the killers momentum. I'll take the jibes about bad looping in exchange for knowing my role.

Sure does doesn't it...you are thinking what....you three can't do one single totem? But to be sorta fair...I have seem them literally inside bushes, bags, small alcoves behind walls and without help (e.g. detective's) not always the easiest...then sometimes they are sitting out right next to a gen...gotta love RNG.
I've seen some truly devious totem locations in the Dead Dog Salon.

Just had a game against a Myers who spent forever trying to get me and did as the last gen popped so he face camped me. I didn't give up because I wanted to buy my team time to open the gates but one came to save me and long story short he got three kills... THREE and he should have gotten ONE HOOK and ONE KILL total.
If you want killers to stop using NOED,then we have to stop rewarding it with this overly altruistic play
This is the one time I will leave someone on hook. Usually I will at least look for the totem, but if I can't find it, I'm out the gate. Like you, I'll happily eat the hook and allow my team to escape, but you can't stop them from trying. It used to be that you did the 'raise your hands in the air' emote to signal you were being camped, move on. But now it seems to be used for "Come rescue me" instead so it all gets confusing. If you see me in game and im being camped with noed, do a quick totem search, then get the heck out if you can't find it.

Run Borrowed Time... and BY ALL MEANS, STAY AWAY FROM THE BASEMENT!
Oh god yes! Getting a basement hook from a hag is awful and can have a domino effect even if the Hag isn't camping nearby.
-
It never ceases to amaze me the amount of times people run at the hook or hide right next to it, proceed to get caught and then do the Benny Hill dance around the hook. Firstly, you have time before second phase hits, to safely unhook. Secondly, it pays to wait for the killer to get far enough away that they can't just immediately come roaring back and catch you at it.
I get that a loop might be near, but personally I'll eat a hook if it means drawing the killer away so that the other people can get the save and get healed up.
Granted I run a build specifically for safe unhooks that also give me decent BP (WMI, Kindred, Empathy, WGLF) but even without a build like that, you have time to wait, get a safe save and deny the killer a very quick start of an early snowball. If you are running around the hook, chances are you are going to get downed before the others can sneak in and unhook. Things tend to go to s**t at that point and it can get very hard to pull back to a strong position. Especially when a survivor does the exact same thing the next time.
The truth is. If you are going to swarm or loop the hook, the killer has no damn reason to not stay where they are and let you run into their weapon. That ain't camping, that's just capitalising on survivor behaviour.
-
I actually love to play against and as the hag.
As a survivor she adds a tension, especially if they are a good hag and don't just trap the obvious places like gens or right under the hook, or use quick draw to close off loops. Personally when playing hag i use proximity and range addons, means I don't have to camp. I don't trap under hooks either, i like to trap the various places you'll run to for a heal when you think you're at a safe distance. Works a treat with nurses and Monitor and Abuse.
The hag is quite slow, its why she isn't a chase killer, hence why the camera moves when you pop a trap. As already stated, if you have urban evasion you are golden against the hag, and if your unhook target is smart enough, they will already be crouching while you are lifting them off hook, stops them activating any traps under the hook.
Flashlights work against a hag, but too many in one game is likely to bring out some franklins.
I don't deny there are players that will draw a Hag army under a hook or by a gen, but the real good games are the hags that know how to still scare the s**t out of you because they know where you wont expect a trap when you go for those loops.
-
I try not to let the very few bad eggs ruin my in game philosophy. I still like to make sure that killers wring as many points out of a farming situation other than just the hooking.
I get where you are coming from however. Technically there is nothing against the rules in it, but that doesn't make it feel all that great, and i totally understand not wanting to do it again.
I have my messages turned off to anyone but friends, due to peoples inability to play nice, so farming situations for me usually happen by accident, the killer makes it obvious or three team mates dc'd and I feel bad for the killer.
I've only ever had what you described, once in the entire 2ish years I have been playing, so maybe stick to the obvious farming situations rather than trusting a message. People can be d***s, but don't let that stop you from having the occasional fun. Farming games can be real funny sometimes, and decent behaviour in general is always great.
-
Honestly, why would anybody try to convince you this is fair and that maybe the killer didn't do as well as they could have, or perhaps luck was against them. Several people have pointed out glaring issues in every single one of these posts you keep spamming up, and you have ignored it. You aren't interested in being convinced, you simply want people to agree with you.
I'm not going to point out what several people have already pointed out, and quite frankly as someone who plays solo mostly, Gens do not always go this fast. Sometimes bad luck or bad team mates can make it impossible to do even one gen. The right killer with the right pressure can be good enough to obliterate a team at 4 - 3 gens. And then very rarely, we get a sweet spot where three gens get done and then everything goes to sh*t.
There are varying circumstances when it comes to individual games and genrush is not the only one. So no, i wont argue that this is fair. I know it's fair because it isn't every game and there are plenty of killers I have seen smash people with 3 gens done, 4, none, and somehow snowballing with NOED at 5 gens done.
-
I don't mind losing addons if I use the item in game. But it does seem daft that you loose them if you win without using the item at all.

Seems reasonable enough. No need to feed the slug at the end of the day. I certainly won't hold it against someone leaving or finding hatch if it just seems stupid to run in for the rescue.

Empathy - Kindred - we'll make it. For the fourth I switch between Solidarity or Better together.
Empathy and we'll make it are self explanatory, but Kindred gives you great information if you are the type that doesn't kamikaze run for the hook. It also gives you the added benefits of letting you see which direction the killer leaves the hook in if you are on a gen in their path, and which direction to head for healing if you are coming off he gen.
Solidarity is useful but I find better together more useful for he fact that an injured survivor knows to run to the yellow gen for a heal.
This build gives you a LOT of information to work from if you are prepared to be patient, and you can swap that end perk for things like Botany or borrowed time, or even the exhaustion perk of your choice.
I don't rely rely on items or addons, but a couple of tips i would add is save your medkit for non hook heals unless you find yourself in an emergency. Also if you have an injured friend on a gen or are injured on a gen, stop at 99% to heal. Hope this is somewhat useful

I love the occasional silly pig interaction. My favourite is being on a gen with another survivor....till i turn my camera and realise said survivor is a piggy slowly doing the 'gen peek'. Nearly every time, i'll have a mini heart attack, blow a check, and then boop that snoot. Killer can go ahead and slice me up after that, they did technically find me and i was too absorbed to notice who was on the other side of the gen.
-
It reeeeaaally annoys me that people do this. I play more survivor than killer but still had to turn off messages because of horrendous threats and wishes for harm. But its more annoying when survivors do this to the killers, because then ALL survivors get labelled as entitled, aggressive crybabies, and there is enough of that as i is.
I highly recommend turning off messages from people who aren't your friends. Or just ignore chat if you are on pc. You can still send a GG message, but if they want to be salty at you, they will be s**t out of luck.

No flashlight addons decrease the time needed to get the "Killer Blind" score event, the thing that makes the killer drop a survivor or remain fully blind after the beam is turned off.
There are however addons (the bulb ones and some of the lenses, purple flashlight also has some of it built in) that increase the "Brightness of the beam". They tend to make the "partial blindness" leading up to the full blind a lot harder to see through, and the visual effect builds up faster.
I'm not really an expert on flashlight addons, I don't use flashlights in general. I'm just aware that addons have differing effects but what you say makes sense, so i stand corrected. Either way an addon may have been the reason, or perhaps the survivor got lucky with the blind.

I haven't played DBD in about a year or so and just started picking it up again over this past weekend. I've been playing as ghost face and encountered a flashlight user.
I had downed a survivor and picked her up and was looking at the ground. Another survivor was in front of me and had their flashlight on but I was still looking at the ground but was instantly blinded and dropped the survivor I was carrying and lost where they ran to.
Is this a new feature? Or has the flashlight always been this way and I just forgot?
They could well have been using top tier addons for their flash light which may account for the speed you were blinded.

I mean it never gets me mad when they call me a camper, because I know when I camp or tunnel. I own when I camp or tunnel. They wanna be salty let them be, I'll just laugh and if I am lucky... I'll get them again in the next match and pull out bubba. lol
Insidious Bubba waiting patiently in an upstairs room on Haddonfield was possibly the second best pants wetting jump scare I've gotten, next to Micheal Myers gen grabs.

I have to admit, I am seeing a lot more variety of perks these days on ps4. There was indeed a huge meta that most seemed to follow, but it seems to be dispersing a bit, at least on my end so far.

Generally I leave hook, but have been called a camper for more than one reason.
- The first one is usually BBQ. If I hook a second person and see someone going for the save but don't see the 4th survivor... I just go for the guy going for the save. I would like to point out I don't generally tunnel the guy who was saved, I usually go for the rescuer. But many have called this camping.
- The second one is, I left hook, but haven't found anyone and got the notification someone was saved, so I go to chase the rescuer... I am not going back to hook if I know where a survivor is or am in chase, but if I am currently just walking around and I know where two people are, I am going to that location.
- Lastly, after hooking someone, I will generally break the pallets and kick the gens in the area around them, as I rarely break pallets during chase. Usually in this time I see another survivor, which causes me to stay in the area because that survivor wont run away from that location.
Also keep in mind, I will get called a camper during End game too, because I avoid tunneling, slugging and camping while there are gens, once all gens are done, I play more like a no holds bar cage match. You get caught, unless I know I can down someone else, I am pretty much proxy camping.
If survivors don't like it, pretty much tell them to suck it up, I'll do my best to play fair while gens remain so everyone has fun, but once all of them are done, someone is dying.
As someone who mostly plays survivor, this all seems fair and common sense to me. The worst part is, that MOST survivors will see common sense in it, they just don't like to admit it. It's a lot easier to insult someone rather than admit you might have made a bit of a whoopsie.

Noise spamming
Refusing to leave until the last second
See those i agree on. Now i will say if I'm the last person in trial and the hatch is closed, i kinda feel that's a win for the killer unless they face camped the whole game, so i WILL noise spam just to give them my location so they can hook me. But doing it just to be an A**hole is just stupid. Same as the idots who can't take a win with any amount of grace and wait at the gate for the killer to judge the butt Olympics.
My usual reaction is "Dude...are you 5?"

Survivors don't care about giving the Killer a fun game. In fact, most survivors I play against, actively want to ensure the Killer has a real bad time. Survivors get what they deserve.
Just out of curiosity. What exactly do survivors do to ensure the killers have a bad time. Not counting any perk/item/strategy that is allowed by the game, AKA - Within the rules of DBD.
-
For me it's empathy. I get a lot of information on the killers movements just by seeing who and where they are chasing. Chase starts close to me as i approach a gen?....find another gen. Already on a gen and the chase is coming towards me? I can get a few more seconds in and run when i absolutely need to. I definitely feel exposed without it. Not to mention its great to pair up with we'll make it as the heal increase for that perk lasts a good long time, not just the initial unhook, so you can quickly find the injured and heal them way faster than self care can.
-
I run an ambulance build, I literally designed my perks to be very good at safe hook saves....and i rarely get to use it. 8 out of every 10 games i play, survivors swarm the hook or are just behind the hook and will unhook before the killers terror radius is even gone, usually without BT.
If people feed themselves to the hook then sure, why should a killer not stick around and let you run into the meat grinder?
I can approach a hook slowly, and sensibly and still get them off the hook before hitting second phase. But a lot of survivors will just act like lemmings and it's literally snowballing the game for your opponent.
There are face campers sure, and you punish them by not falling for it and doing your gens. But if people just kamakazi hooks...most killers have no incentive to move away from the hook. End of story.

Recently I’ve been forcing survivors to dance with me with my big charge/quick pull chain. Hit em, reel him till we’re face to face and then we twirl.
YOU WILL DANCE WITH ME SURVIVORS!
I recently had a game where the deathslinger worked his ass off, really pulled a good game. I was last alive and he wanted to give me the gate, opened it up for me. I would have rather give him the hook for such a good game. He then proceeded to chain me, and swung me OUT into the exit!!

As survivor I almost always do the same little things every game. I'll t-bag other people when we meet or they heal me, if a gen gets blown up I'll stop and just stare at the person, nodding sometimes which gets them to stare back once in a while which is pretty funny. Little things like that make me smile when playing survivor.
A funny example being on the game map, I spawned in next to a guy and he went to do a dull totem so I nodded at him and I started to protect him as if it was a lit one. He finished it and started t-bagging me and we just started crouching in a circle nodding and pointing. My buddy comes over and joins us and then so does the last person. At this point we're all just nodding at each other doing circles and the killer comes up and sees us and just stops. We all stare at her and she just kind of does a double take and then we all just start walking circles around her which led to us just farming and messing around. All of that from me protecting a guy doing a dull because I thought it'd be funny.
As Killer, I'll just meme around now then using one of the various Killer games. Right now it's been the never-ending t-bag Ghostface which has been pretty fun. Lord have mercy if you don't struggle as I'll start backpacking you for the rest of the game even if it means I lose; assuming I wasn't feeling the sweat at least. Backpacking is one of my favorite things to do in this game.
I always seem to have the most fun with a ghost face who just wants to be silly. There is still a video out there that a GF posted when her first came out. It was all good teabagging fun all round and i just love games like those. Don't get me wrong, i don't think every game should devolve into clown time. But you do appreciate it more when people stop being serious just once in a while for funsies.

Idk, for me there is a pressure to progress, to just like...not touch a gen at all and mess around, it actually kinda stresses me out somehow.
I have had a lot of those yesterday though, just focussing hard on doing hte rift challenges, the one with protection hits...I never take those so now I have to not do gens at all, wait for someone to go down so im there to take a hit.
Its weird that in my killer games this is super common but when I do it I feel so disgustingly useless, though somehow those killer games end up with all 4 escaping so what do I know.
I found that challenge hard to. I am sooo not the best at looping so my skills lie in saves and gens. I did find that just waiting till the gates open and taking a hit for the one survivor running to the exit with the killer up their ass, dealt with that one efficiently.

I actually laughed out loud at busty Santa.
I sometimes do similar things, like I'll take items in with rare add-ons and give them to somebody else, as I actually prefer finding items within the game, as it makes it feel more 'realistic' to me and heighten the horror experience.
I'm definitely a troll, but not an annoying one that ruins the experience of others, I just do derp things like sit and stare at people on the gen for a few seconds before I help as the survivors always look so stupid with that blank expression on their face and it really makes me laugh. I'll also continuously jump in and out of a locker if a killer is using Iron Maiden, as that's literally the best thing ever. I don't even care if they come back and down me, it was worth it.
Here's a bonus screenshot of me watching another Ash open an exit gate. They actually took the screenshot and sent it to me in a message saying that they were dying laughing. So I'm glad my trollish ways were appreciated. 🤣
That face is epic!

Solidarity and we'll make it paired with kindred and better together have led to some real fun, intense and winnable games for me so far.
Empathy lets me see where the killer is when they are on someone else, which allows me to get to a safe gen or at least know when to move when that little yellow running dude is coming towards me. It also allows me to quickly find injured parties and better together allows them to quickly find me for a heal and to help on gen. We'll make it is a superb perk paired up with kindred for a safe unhook and a speedy heal.
I mean if you don't like the perk or it just doesn't work for your preferred play style I guess you can go ahead and call it trash all you want, it's your opinion. But clearly it appears to be working well for others, And i like to see the meta changing up a bit, I've seen some truly interesting builds, and i swap mine around regularly just so things don't get stale.
You might dislike solidarity but there are an awful lot of combinations out there that you might like if you get bored with your current set up.

Don't pick any perks or addons.
It might confuse them into thinking that you're still in the game, or that it's bugged, or that you're hacking.
Plus, if you "adapt" without perks, then any perk (except Monstrous Shrine) you run after that will feel better.
Or more likely, they are going to think "Huh, this guy has no perks or addons"
Not that I discourage playing without them, i suppose it's a good way to learn.
