Thanks for the vote of confidence in my theory! And look how good Lizzy Kaplan is in the trailer as young Annie!

The mannerisms alone sent shivers down my spine. And I'm actually excited to see more about her past. She held my attention in the book and the movie (finished the damn book in one day) and by the looks of it, Kaplan will do the same.

  • I actually really like this idea a whole lot better than Pennywise. I fell in love with Stephen king at the age of 14, and IT happens to be one of my all time favourites, I enjoyed both of the movies.

But I really do not think they could represent Pennywise anywhere near accurately. I strongly feel it would just be a cash grab for something that is currently popular. But I'll admit, I'm not on the marketing team so my opinion is biased towards the faithfulness of the character.

Annie Wilkes (God bless Kathy Bates for nailing that role 10 times over) Is simple, very easy to create and you'd have to try very hard to mess up that character.

  • I think it would highly depend on how carefully they chose the killers. I see a lot of people wanting pyramid head from silent hill, I freaking LOVE the game, but if you sped pyramid up...and you would have to to make him at all viable, it would ruin the essence of the character itself.

It has to make sense without totally pi**ing on the essence of the character.

For instance (just as an example) Chris Walker or Marta from the Outlast series, would be viable candidates because they would have a lot of leeway with what they could have them do without ruining the character entirely.

I'm never too bothered as to whether we get licensed or original killers, but if you're going licensed, you gotta do better than a cash grab half effort.

This is a video game. They're fake points that aren't real, a currency to buy in-game consumable items that are used for fun. If anything, we need more opportunities to earn more BP all around, because the grind is unreal, and detracts from the aforementioned fun.

You make this sound like it's some sort of real-world issue that benefits a class of people you don't like or something. Get a grip.

No, no, no! Don't you understand its THEIR candy and the stupid meany head killers aren't allowed to have a share of it because they do what they are supposed to do!

If they can't magically stop the killer meanie-heads from having a taste then NOBODY should have it!!

I mean that is what you're advocating right @OP. As i said before, the BPS was made for everyone, so your literal only choice is to lobby for it to be removed completely, the dev's are simply not going to deal with the uproar of removing the benefits just from one side. Each side has survivor only points addons, the BPS is a shared thing because, i assume, they believed people would be grown up enough to enjoy a bit of shared points gain without getting bent out of shape.

Please correct me if I'm wrong @Peanits or anyone else official who might wish to answer. If i am incorrect i shall admit it like an adult. But I assume that taking BPS gain from one side wouldn't really be the best move.

  • At the end of the day you do you. If you want to hoard your BPS so the mean ol' killers don't get no points because you don't wanna share your candy, you go ahead and do that.

Maybe one day, if you wish upon a star, or a dev, your dreams will come true and BPS will be removed entirely, since they certainly wont remove it from one side only as it was designed for both sides.

Until then, the rest of us will just go ahead and play our own BPS like adults and accept it works for everyone while not worrying that Mr killer managed to get some digital points in a video game.

    Good luck with your crusade.

Things change all the time. I don't see why you are so frustrated with the idea you may lose out on points. You get enough with chili.

I play survivor 70% of the time, and 100% of the time when it comes to events because i regularly play with a group and not a single one of us has an issue with the killer gaining from our BPS. Yes my avatar is the hag, because on the occasions i do play killer, she's my favourite.

I don't use Chili because I have perks i like better and never play killers during events.

Don't assume because you think it might prove your argument.

I'm not frustrated, simply deeply amused you think verbally stamping your feet with no consideration for the other side, will get you what you want :)

Why do you want to discuss things i'm not even talking about? I am specifically talking about BPS and how killers should not profit.

Probably because you appear to be refusing to accept that the devs are not going to change how BPS work just because you don't like the killer getting the points. It's not going to change, you need to get over it. So people are offering other solutions to suit your needs because...and i repeat, you appear to be ignoring the simple facts concerning BPS and the fact that they aren't going to change because you don't like it.

  • @ApeOfMazor said:

Why are people calling me a survivor main? I am not I just recognize that giving bonus points to the guy who is tunneling everyone and camping is not fair. I paid for the BPS and don't feel my enemy for the moment deserves to reap the benefits from them.

They make enough with chili and they don't deserve more from survivors purchased offerings. People bringing up the grind as some sort of defense are maniacs because the killers don't care about your grind or my grind, only their own. Hence they should not benefit from survivor offerings.

And oh yeah this is divisive. It's how the game is made. I don't want my enemies profiting off me.

Then don't use the offerings. Otherwise, you really don't get to control who benefits from them.

  • @DeadByMemelight said:

You folks really need to not hoard all your BPS for bloodhunts. Just use them as you get them/need BP. Saving them up just makes you more upset when they're "wasted."

Pretty much what i tend to do these days. I rarely get involved with BP events any more, too much of both sides trying to tear each other a new one. The odd funny farming occasions are great, but just not worth the hassle for me.

  • @douggie123 said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/91667/killers-should-not-profit-from-survivors-bps

You survivor mains just want to full on Nail all killers to the ground and restrict them from everything. You are all getting beyond a joke with your trashy forum posts nerf this nerf that. Stop killers doing this. Let survivors do this. Get a grip on reality and stop trying to destroy all killers. Eventually this game is going to lose a lot of players.

I'll risk the over the top and abrasive reaction from you to point out that this is not a survivor only issue. I can look on the next one or two previous pages of this forum and find just as many killers yelling for nerfs as i do survivors. Its not a 'survivor' issue, its a 'people not willing to be reasonable' issue.

I'll make it very clear, and my post history clearly backs me up, I don't lobby for one side, i try to think objectively and fairly and tbh just play the game as was intended without whining that something isn't fair, whichever side i play. And yes i play both. It's just the nature of the forums that both sides seem to enjoy being in a snark war with each other. Yes this post is ridiculous, but so is your reaction. It's not worth blowing up about, and as already stated, your point sadly applies to both sides.

As for the OP's suggestion. No, your opinion is ridiculous, unfair and just a silly way to attempt to punish killers for no other reason than the aforementioned "war" of getting one over on the other side. Thank christ nobody official is ever likely to take this seriously.

  • Honestly, none of the above really appeal to me, though I'm with @TheALIEN when it comes to who I would LOVE to see, even as a survivor.

    A girl can dream!

  • Pretty much lost count of how many times that combo has made me squeak, almost pee, or outright cause a mini heart attack when it catches me off guard, so I can relate.

  • Survivor- I play what I call my utility build. If I'm not doing gens I'm hunting down lit totems with small game, and saving team mates with borrowed time and/or We'll make it. I suck at looping so I stealth a lot, empathy allows me to gauge if I'm safe to do a gen if someone is being chased and allows me to find injured survivors. Sometimes I'll swap out small game or empathy just to try out different things.

Killer- I'm not great but i can sometimes surprise myself when playing hag. I don't camp or purposely tunnel, though if you run into me after i gave you a chance, you're getting slapped. Usually i try and force people into a 3 gen situation, doesn't always work but when it does...yeah you're all screwed. Mostly I play relaxed and in my own way, safe in the knowledge that my messages are turned off!

  • @Dreamnomad said:

Lol at even mentioning bbq and spine chill. If they took away the bloodpoint bonus from BBQ it would still see play, but it would be drastically reduced. I don't even know why you brought up spine chill at all. It's a decent perk that sees some play, but it is hardly rampant or game ruining.

But to actually answer your question, no, I don't think removing the top meta perks from the game would make the game a better experience. A new meta would evolve and we would all find those boring and annoying soon enough.

Exactly this. The truth nobody wants to admit is, that if you remove one meta, another will take its place, and that goes for either side. Then suddenly, perks that nobody had a problem with will become 'unfair' and 'unfun' simply because they happen to benefit the other side and are used more often in place of what is taken away.

That's the problem with both sides trying to whittle down what works for the other side and constantly calling for nerfs just results in crappier perks because gods forbid the devs are allowed to come up with anything that might benefit the opposing side in any way.

  • Punishing survivors for doing their main objective efficiently should never be an option. How would you feel if you were doing really well in the game and got penalised for hooking within a certain time limit? Not to mention that NOED is fine, those who refuse to do totems and still complain about the perk only have themselves to blame.

    @Wuhelm

I'm not posting it for you , I want the Devs to do something about this , obviously there's a Huge number of players farming esp around every event and Ruin the game and FYI I've already reported once but I' not gonna keep doing that to every killer farming I've met.

There needs to be certain measures taken to stop it from happening .

E.g - 20,000 Blood Points to all players if the match is found to be a Farming Game .

Freezing Blood point Gains for the next Match !

    #moderator @Devteam

The Dev team have been aware of farming since the game and events started. I would imagine that if they were going to start punishing people for it, they would have done so by now.

    But good luck I guess.

  • I play mostly survivor and occasionally I play killer because I like to get both perspectives, and i am so freaking BORED of this Noed debate.

Firstly, I don't use NoeD, because there are perks that I find better suit my play style. That doesn't mean I'm going to bash it, because what works for me might not work for others and Vice Versa. That's why we have a choice of perks in the first place.

Secondly. NoeD has a counter. I don't care if it takes you away from doing gens. I don't care if you think it's a waste of time because the killer might not have it. If you cannot be bothered or refuse to do totems, which give you bp as well as reduce risk, you have NO leg's with which to climb up on your soapbox and b*tch about the perk.

This works both ways however. Again, i don't use Adrenaline, because my build is utility / triage, but I'm not going to condemn people for using something that helps them. Gens get done, Adrenaline activates, enough said.

Both of these perks give you a chance to swing the end game your way, because that is LITERALLY their purpose. Yes, it can be annoying as hell to get all the gens done only to find out the killer just one shot you or a team member, but you had the power to do totems and still have the power to kill the newly procced NoeD, or you can try leaving. NoeD is only the end of the world if you let it be.

Yes its frustrating as hell to find out 2 or more people have Adrenaline, but..and I'm going to try and say this in the nicest way possible here because i rally am not making a dig...as killers, we CHOOSE to play the single role in this game. The risk of meta isn't going to go away if you stamp down one perk. It'll just be replaced by another. I hear so much talk about the survivor rule book but lets be honest, killers have their own made up rules too.

I didn't come to this game expecting rainbows and puppies, but I would at least like to imagine that enough adults populate this game to understand that we cannot control everything the other side does, and that when we have a counter to a particular problem, we utilize it rather than opting to stamp our feet and demand it be changed.

    Rant/Lecture over...gonna go hunt down a Tek-Rex!

There are a plethora of Stephen King killers that come to mind being in DBD before Pennywise ever would. I really don't want IT in the game for the simple fact that they would ruin IT. They would make his power so incredibly dull and lackluster. He's a freaking space god alien thing that is literally 3 orbs of light. Don't do this to IT. IT deserves much better than to be mocked by 4 teenage-young adults running around in circles.

This right here. I feel personally that if they added him to the game he'd end up a very watered down version of what he should be. I get that people are excited by the prospect, i really do, but I'd honestly be sad to see such an iconic character reduced to a joke just to appease demand.

If something is worth doing, it's worth doing well, and if you can't do it well, maybe its best to give it a miss.

But... but... it's in the survivor rule book... :(

Correction. It's in the ENTITLED survivor rulebook.

Some of us actually don't care what you use or what you do as long as people don't actually cheat (and i mean literally cheating, not using a certain perk/addon/blah blah). Some of us accept the hand we are dealt each game and work around it because that is PART of the game.

So use NOED to your hearts content, and I'll keep making use of small game (highly underrated) and maps :)

  • Honestly I'd be happy if he could at least take his traps from lockers like the huntress hatchets. I don't know what it's like for pc, but sometimes the controls for picking up traps from the ground on console can be really iffy and you end up wasting precious seconds trying to pick the bloody things up.

  • The very simple answer?

Some people simply cannot take a loss(and sometimes even a win) with dignity, and it makes them feel better to say "You only won because (Insert inane reason here)" rather than admit they might have faced someone slightly more skilled, or that they f'd up somewhere.

  • @PeenutsButt3r said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/702957#Comment_702957

I don't care much about that.

Killers like me, even the best one can make mistakes, that's inevitable. But the whole thing is when you're not making such mistakes and you don't get what you're paying for, that's frustrating. I'm fine if everything in this game is player skill based (for example playing as a survivor if I die, that's either killer is better than me or my bad/my teammate bad, can't complain about that).

But that one gen rush problem is unacceptable, like chasing people, down them, hook them and it keeps going like that the whole match, 0 time to breath, not camping, not tunneling. And the entity displeased after all of that... I win sometimes, lose sometimes that's all right, but it's sure annoying when it comes to gen rush and when you do the best you could (map pressure, multi-target, slugging...), it's still never enough. Like how is that all on the killer shoulder?

So let me see if I understand you from this post.

If you play as a survivor and die, its because the killer is better than you by doing their objective or your team is bad and that's fine and fair. But if survivors wreck the killer by outwitting them via staying alive long enough, and evading the killer long enough to do all five gens then that is an 'unacceptable problem' and doesn't mean that the survivors were just better than you?

I mean please do correct me if my reading comprehension failed me to the extent that i misunderstood you but that seems rather a one sided argument to me where you merit the killers for being good enough to complete their tasks but condemn the survivors completing their main task sufficiently, as something of a problem?

And no, my views are not eternally one sided. I make it a point to be as objective as possible and yes, I play both sides. Call it what you will, and have whatever opinion you like i guess, but if a group of survivors hand me my ass and complete their gens quicker than I could kill them....they outplayed me. I learn, then i adapt.

  • Plague. I'd climb up on her back like a spider monkey and just aim her like a super soaker.

  • This would be so very dangerous to me. I grew up with those movies and would end up fan girling in one spot right up to the moment I got my face chewed off!

  • @derperson said:

I want pyramid head so bad, even though I have no idea how he would work.

Sadly I just don't think he would. Part of Pyramid Heads charm was the slow inevitability of his approach. The few times you had to fight him were in relatively enclosed spaces. He just wouldn't be the same if he moved as fast as even the slowest of our current killer roster. Like you I'd love to see him, but in my heart of hearts i know he'd just be a watered down version of the real thing and the appeal would very quickly wear off.

Unfortunately I have come to think the same of Pennywise. I'll admit, I've loved the book since i was a kid and so I know half of my issues with him being in DBD would be from fan girl overthinking. However I just don't see him being in the game without it being a severely diluted version which would just turn him into a Novelty killer.

  • With all due respect I have to disagree. As @DudeDelicious has already stated, people either choose to be disrespectful/entitled or just plain mean or they don't. Who you do or don't play doesn't really have much bearing on it from my own experience.

Some people just don't like to lose no matter what side they happen to be playing at the time. It IS more likely that someone only playing one side will have a bias, but I've seen plenty who play both sides, throw their toys out the stroller because things don't go their way.

  • I'm not that great at killer, I find it fun but I can have some awful games against some groups. Yet I don't think i have ever had a game last only 3 minutes, even against teams that all managed to get away.

I'm not disputing your claim but if you genuinely had 6 games in a row last only 3 minutes then it isn't a gen rush issue, it's a map pressure issue. I'm not trollolololing and saying Git Gud because that isn't helpful at all, but you may wish to revisit your tactics. You've said you have done everything you can but honestly, if you were....6 games lasting three minutes wouldn't happen.

I would suggest getting together with friends, or an organised KWF group to try and work different tactics in a slightly less stressful environment. Again, I'm not at all trying to be condescending, I do this to practice killers i haven't quite got a handle on, and to be fair you are at liberty to take the advice with a grain of salt.

However, while gen rushing does indeed exist, there has to be something going wrong on the other end if you have that many games ending that quickly one after another.

  • I love IT, love the book and really enjoy both movies, even the masterful Tim Curry cheese. But here's the problem I foresee with Pennywise being a killer.

It'll just be another clown running around. Pennywise uses fear to flavour his 'meal' which entails using different forms based upon the person he's chasing. I don't see them doing a multi-form killer. Now I'm certainly not saying BHVR might not find a way around that, or perhaps flat out prove me wrong on the multi-form thing, but without that power set it's just going to be another clown with a different power set.

At the end of the day the novelty of Pennywise might just be enough for a large chunk of people, and from a business perspective it would make financial sense to hop on that particular bandwagon. It would just be a huge shame if we got the watered down version just for a cash grab.

  • There are many reasons that in game voice chat is unappealing to me and a few of them are listed here. But my biggest trigger for the red flag on this suggestion is a simple one, and you only have to look at the hundreds upon hundreds of after-game messages to spot it.

    Abuse.

Amongst other reasons, this is a huge part of why I don't play a lot of multiplayer games. I don't want to hear even a quarter percent of what has been sent to me in after game messages, I don't want to hear it being done to anybody else either. Yes i could mute them, but only after the damage is done and that would render the whole thing useless.

Let me be clear, your idea is actually a good one that would certainly add something to the game. I like the idea. But people will be people, and it's obvious by now that internet anonymity seems to have given a large percentage of the gaming world into nasty little toddlers. So we don't get nice things.

  • Always a good idea to put something aside once it stops being fun for you. I wish you luck in the gaming world dude!

  • Once again this song will be in my head for the next week or so.

    You have my vote.

  • I don't think playing nice really has much to do with letting people go, or cutting the killer a break once in a while if they have had an utterly poop game (works both ways), though I will add that its nice to sometimes not take all your frustrations out on what is essentially another human on the other side of that character.

Being nice can really boil down to just accepting your win or your loss with some dignity. You can be a decent human being by not using god awful threats or wishes for diseases despite relative internet anonymity, and STILL play the game.

In nearly 30 years of gaming I have not and will never accept "That's just how it is these days" or "Grow thicker skin"

Not a single person would accept that sort of thing in real life without getting upset or angry, why should they have to swallow it just because the aggressor is doing it via the internet?

  • Meh, if you don't care about rank then you do you. I usually advise against camping because generally it fails to do much once you hit a certain rank. As a survivor I'll leave anyone being camped on the hook, or stay alive as long as i can for gen times if im on the hook myself.

As a killer I just don't find it fun and i tend to get more bp for more hooks. but if rank isn't an issue the latter doesn't really matter.

I do hope you find some more fun avenues in the game however, there is a lot more to explore. I have to say some of the most excellent and gratifying hooks I have gotten are by total fluke, never to be repeated takedowns.

But if your having fun right now, then keep doing your own thing. As long as it isn't outright cheating and an in game mechanic, its all fair game. ;)

  • Oh good grief

"Mummy and Daddy love you more"

"Nuh Uh Mummy and Daddy love YOU more"

It's honestly embarrassing to read these forums sometimes.

The simple fact is, that the devs could spend a whole year fixing all the perceived issues from both sides, exactly how killers and survivors want it, and a whole bunch of them will still scream for more and yell that the other side got more than they did.

You can all line up every buff and nerf as 'proof' that the devs are sided one way or another. The devs will NEVER be able to cater to both sides equally at all times because barely anybody wants to talk about balance with a balanced perspective. It's far easier to point the finger at the opposite side and wail that their plate is fuller than your own.

  • Put quite simply, people don't like to loose.

It's why I've had survivors DC when they have been downed or placed on the hook.

It's why I've had killers DC when their totem is popped or the gates are opened.

It's a bit sad and ultimately they screw themselves as well as the rest of the players, but until dedicated servers it's just something we have to live with.

It is pretty much agreed upon by most people, you're the one in the minority here.

Actually, after looking at these posts and your previous post declaring that NOED is killing this game (with no proof or data to back you up) I believe that you are the minority in this case.

A top streamer having an opinion, does not make that opinion more important or right. An opinion is subjective, it only matters more if it is the same as yours. Are you likely to change your mind because a streamer with more viewers has an opposing opinion?

Also whether anyone wants to partner with a streamer, does not validate their opinions. Unless they are streaming something offensive and potentially harmful to their business, a company will throw their lot in with anyone who can draw more customers in. It's not a mark of their opinions relevancy, it's to do with revenue.

Popularity does not equate to being right. It's simply one voice with a talent for entertainment. (For some)

You know one of the most reliable counters to NOED is leaving one or multiple totems that spawned in an open field up

That way if NOED does proc there's a very high chance that it will be that specific totem it spawns on

Too often survivors will make sure to do every single totem that spawned in an open field, and then suffer because NOED spawned on the one remaining totem that was hidden in a bush at the corner of a map

You know I hadn't considered that. Thanks dude. I guess that's another one I can add to the list of counters! No totem shall be safe!

As solo survivor you have pretty much no control about that "secondary objective". Unless you want to be that useless team mate who runs around the map for 3 minutes to check all 5 totems beeing destroyed... While his team gets slaughtered in the background and at the end you notice the killer didn't even had noed... *suprise pikachu*

Nonsense. Even as a solo i can manage to do all totems and still get gens done. It's harder sure, but there has never been a time where i have felt I have "No Control" over NOED.

Okay so accounting for all totems might be difficult, but even then, 9 times out of ten, the killer is hunting down exposed survivors rather than protecting a newly lit totem which usually be located.

Does it make the endgame harder? Sure. But it's only out of your hands if you allow it to be.

I bring maps with killer item addons, mostly because totems are utilised in about 60% of my matches, small game too sometimes, which can be handy for other killers with traps such as trapper, freddy and hag.

I'd agree if it had no counter, but it has several different ways in which it can be countered.

I once downed someone; First find of the match. I chased them & downed them because

    1) No gens were popping

    2) I did not see anyone else.

They DC'd almost the SECOND they went into Dying state. Like, they must have had a friend ready to pull the plug for them.

They found my steam account, added me, and proceeded to claim they'd get me steam banned, and that I was tunneling, a tryhard, sweaty, a fat nolife out to ruin people's fun. It was rapid fire IM's over the course of 10 minutes while I just cackled.

Both sides can be toxic jerks, not just Killers.

The OP already stated that there were things that survivors did that agitate them and that they did none of the things that are rightfully considered toxic. (Using items, utilising perks and tactics don't count, unless either side is using one of their made up rules) They aren't stating its only killers, they were asking why they were being camped (intentionally apparently given the replies they received) when they were not being intentionally toxic.

It seems to be the knee jerk reaction for the other side to get defensive immediately when a post like this goes up. Most of us know the other side can be toxic, it doesn't mean someone can't have a complaint, and it doesn't really justify it for either side if the the opposite side does something similar.

At the end of the day they could simply be asking because in this case, they might receive more of it from the killers.

@Cassandra_Alexandra I can't honestly tell you why people get offended tbh, because I don't understand it. As long as a player doesn't grief, teabag, mori spam or any of the actual toxic traits, nobody really earns that kind of negative attention. It's just become far too acceptable to react harshly to imagined slights. I do have to point out however, that camping is still a legit strategy, no mater how annoying it might be. I personally don't myself since its a silly way to let people gen rush you, but some choose to do it.

Exactly what you said. Neither perk rewards you for anything. They just trigger at the end game, and benefits may wary. That's all. People compare survs to killers like they do or not do something (on purpose or not). So our opinions aren't really opposing each other there.

Since your first opinion was that Adrenaline only activates when you ignore other objectives like healing and unhooking, I'd have to say that they are.

Or you can sit in a bush for the whole game and adrenaline STILL will activate when all the gens are done. Rewarded for what?

So what? A killer can sit in a corner and NOED will still activate if survivors don't cleanse totems. Just as survivors can sit in a corner and Adrenaline doesn't activate because apparently you didn't sTop 3 people doing 5 gens. That's still not a good basis to whine about a perk "Well you can POTENTIALLY do nothing therefore its an unfair perk" That's ridiculous.

And no, i do not dislike NOED. The excuses for both are just getting real thin.

Adrenaline rewards you only when you ignore another objectives, like healing and unhooking people. Even hooked guy gets a reward the moment he's unhooked AFTER final gen. Whole point of adrenaline is ignoring some side objectives that actually might cost you a game otherwise. Try escaping after all 5 gens done, when 2 of you still injured, 1 just got downed and one guy is on a hook.

Now, what was that about NOED rewarding you for ignoring objectives?

    Cheers.

    Uhhhh....no it doesn't?

I can do two gens, find 3 totems, unhook a survivor and adrenaline STILL will activate when all the gens are done. Don't assume people's playstyles because its convenient in order to put the perk down.

If I kill 3 of you and close the hatch you get rewarded for doing nothing. They're both end game perks they literally have the same requirement to active but one can be stopped by doing bones.

Why is it assumed that the player has done "Nothing" all game?

And if you mean when you have someone slugged and they get back up.....well it's your job to find and hook the slugged person before closing hatch of they are literally the last one in the game.
