If we’re going to be home. I expect the devs to be home as well.

This game is not that serious where they need to be working during an epidemic.

    +1

  • @Ryuhi said:

and the "objective" of the killer is to kill. Are we ok with the killer slugging everyone and letting them bleed out so nobody can theoretically get the hatch?

I am. It's a mechanic of the game. Is it dull...yes. But its not like i can't get up and make a cup of tea or watch a youtube vid for a few minutes till i can get into another match.

  • Killers run Mori's in about 70% of my games and surprise surprise, not everybody uses DS. You have no idea if a survivor has DS when you load up that mori. Also targeting someone for using a perk in the game is ridiculous. I rather doubt anyone, killer or survivor, is going to give up their good add on's simply because it might inconvenience the other side. If you want to use Mori's use them, they are part of the game that are annoying but still legitimate. You don't need to make up an excuse.

You won't stop people from using DS. Not even with Moris.

And no. I don't use DS. I don't even have Laurie because her perks never interested me. But anyone who bought and paid for that character, is allowed to use her perks as they see fit, even if it annoys people. It's part of the game.

  • Weirdly it's empathy for me. I know when someone else is in a chase, where they are and where its best to get on or off a gen. I can find injured survivors and heal them rather than have them spend ages uninjured or self caring and sometimes it lets me know how many people are currently swarming the hook like lemmings.

  • Every single time someone in a chase unhooks me without Borrowed just to scrape the killer off on the easy re-hook target.

And i f*****g love the killers who ignore me and continue to chase them. They don't HAVE to do it, by rights it's their kill up for grabs, but it's just sweet when they do and extra sweet when they hook them. <3

  • You are way luckier than me, all i see 70% of the games im in is three Idiots swarming the hook and getting downed. I actually stopped using my ambulance build (Urban, we'll make it, kindred) which was extremely effective for safe unhooks because i just never got to use it. There are only two instances where I won't unhook. 1. If you are sandbagging, throwing pallets or fast vaulting next to other survivors or sitting around long enough to get crows...you are staying on hook. 2. If you are being face camped before the gens are done. I'm not feeding a face camper.

  • Two PS4 controllers have already gone to the grave due to the left thumb stick. If nothing else, give us a way to use mechanics that do not cost your players money in the long run. I know controllers wear out eventually, but brand new ones never run out at the rate mine have been due the wiggle mechanic. I'm all for suspense, but at the same time, the controller thing isn't an isolated case. A lot of people are having this problem.

  • Seems fine so far. Win / loss averages don't appear to be changed. Depends on whether individuals were reliant on toolboxes or not. Some may need an adjustment period.

  • Solo can be utterly frustrating and freaking amazing, it just depends what pick n mix team you end up with. I have genuinely been in a game where i pulled off 5 safe hooks and then got left to die on my first hook at the end. (No NOED and the killer was chasing someone else across the map) When it comes to survivor I stick to my niche. I sneak around the map with Kindred and We'll make it when im not on a gen or totems, I use empathy to keep distance between myself and the killer. I am only okay at chases, so i stick to my role and only run when I have to. 60% of the time I'm the last one left with 3-1 gens left to go. At that point I can't be arsed to go hatch hunting and I'll usually alert spam near a hook for the killer to finish up the game.

Is it stressful...yes. Yet I'm still not certain that it's as stressful as killer. I don't play killer as often but when I do, I am constantly tense, trying to keep control of the situation.

  • If he didn't get a penalty for bumping into things i might see your point here. However having played Billy a few times...trying to turn was a lot like trying to steer a shopping trolley with a rhino sitting in it. Now, I've seen plenty of Billy's take a corner like a formula one car, but it takes a lot of practice, which is why I suck at him because i spend most of my time running from him than playing him.

If you can move around a loop tightly, chances are his chainsaw is going to hit something and he's not getting that down. Maps like the cornfield are a godsend for Billies but there are also maps that are a complete nightmare.

While I don't agree with you, I will say thank you for an adult and well thought out post however. It can be difficult suggesting stuff like this knowing you might get dog piled for a simple suggestion :)

  • Ooooo so close! You can make it!

But yeah, it does seem that you have to put a LOT of work to actually reach the end. I'm off at the moment and can put some time in it, but I can see quite a few people struggling if their time is limited in any way.

  • @Thatbrownmonster said:

It's actually stronger if used correctly

With the new toolboxes you should aim to use them when gens are at 90% and the killer is close by, you can easily fix the gen quickly and escape with the toolbox

But I guess survivors don't use the same advice they use against killers "just adapt"

This was pretty much my take on it. If I do bring one in or pick one out of a chest, i try and save it for that last gen. I can see it helping out in a 3 gen situation. Assuming my toolbox doesn't get yeeted across the field by franklins of course. ;)

That kind of response was Definitely something A 12 year old would say. Nobody’s kicking and screaming here 😂 I’m simply submitting my opinion. And I know it’s the right one. They overnerfed toolboxes.

and I don’t think toolboxes are a crutch either. You obviously didn’t read the key words solo survivor or Gen camping. It’s too easy for killers and I’ll stand by that until I see some changes. You can’t convince me otherwise. Gens are too cramped and the killers r too fast. Why shouldn’t toolboxes remain the way they were in situations where they’re needed to get that last gen done? Don’t act like you’re having that hard of a time as killer. You just suck.

Ahhhh still denying that I'm a survivor, well whatever works to prove your point i guess.

I spend 80% of my time solo, maybe 15% 2 man and I'll play killer once a month maybe in order to get a top up on points. I am fully aware of how hard solo is and i don't believe i said toolboxes were a crutch, they simply weren't the deciding factor for me when it came to whether or not I won a match. Literally just finished a game where i spent most of my time getting people off hooks with we'll make it and kindred. Nobody had a toolbox. 3 escapes.

You have every right to have your own opinion. You don't however get to arbitrarily decide someone is a killer main because they don't share the same opinion as you. It makes any following argument weak and childish. If somehow, the toolboxes went back to how they were, this still wouldn't bother me. It is not the end of the world, survivor, even solo survivor, is still playable with or without the nerf.

  • @SurvivorsAreRuined said:

    https://forum.deadbydaylight.com/en/discussion/comment/1155400#Comment_1155400

Sounds like something a crybaby killer main would say. No, I agree here they were over nerfed. There’s hardly any charges to even be able to use them anymore. I’d almost rather not even bring one in because it’s literally almost useless now. It’s ridiculous how hard survivors have to work to get out alive while killers prance around Mori’ing people and moving around so swiftly. Yet they complain about perks that literally prevent the killer from preventing someone from being able to play. Toolboxes just really didn’t need that hard of a nerf. If the aim is to slow down the rate at which gens are completed then you have to slow down the rate at which the killer can kill you. Why should killers still be able to rob you of your 2nd and 3rd hook by using a Mori? I literally see an ebony one in every single blood web level in the 40s and beyond. It’s not as “ultra rare” as it should be. I’m sorry but nobody should have to be anyone’s kill every game and this game is buffing killers too much.

    Are you 12?

I know, I know. It's easier to state someone is a killer main than accept that there are plenty of survivors who aren't actually bothered by the toolbox changes. I mean if it makes you feel better and everything you can cover your ears, shut your eyes and scream "LALALALA YOU'RE A KILLER MAIN I CAN'T HEAR YOU"

However my post history pretty much poops on that accusation.

I don't like Mori's any more than you do, but i deal with them as they come because they are a part of the game. If I whined about everything that got changed on either side I'd never have any fun. The simple fact is, I never relied on toolboxes in the first place, they were just a beacon for being camped in my experience, so I honestly don't care about the change. If the toolbox change is that detrimental, take a break, because stamping, screaming and accusing everyone of being a crybaby because they don't agree with you, is beyond Ironic.

  • The amount of people who throw a hissy fit rather than adapting to a situation is astounding.

  • Betty White as herself for a survivor.

The child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as the killer

  • Honestly its not much of a change for me. The times I brought in a toolbox before the nerf I didn't plan on relying upon it. Nowadays the only difference is that I keep hold of the toolbox until the last gen for a quick speed boost.

  • Only time I ever really sabo is if I have a challenge or a daily. Most of the time it just isn't worth the trouble.

  • I have a lot of fun avoiding the killer, but that doesn't necessarily mean I'm just on gens. I split my time with totem breaking, hiding when the killer is about a gnats hair away from me, and it's rare that one of my hook saves doesn't get a 'safe' marker. If I'm forced into a chase i'm 'okay' at it, but i know its not my strength. There is something to be said for tiptoeing around the edge of something hoping like hell your butt gets behind that tree before the killer notices you. There have been some serious butt clenching moments that I just don't get In a chase.

  • We'll make it and Kindred, fairly self explanatory.

For me it’s always been about how you deliver the message.

You can feel mad and frustrated about something but your delivery is everything. Especially if your intent is for the devs to actually listen.

I think that’s what this thread is about.

pretty much took the words right out of my mouth here. I know I wouldn't respond to people constantly berating me or accusing me of conspiratorial favouritism every five minutes. Especially when it generally comes from all sides no matter what happens.

  • I'd rather not hear someone shoving crisps in their mouth or blasting their music. Missing a skillcheck because the 20th chuckle head in a row decides to ear #########, or the ever persistant cries of "Noob, f*g, EZ...as well as a slew of nasty insults people already send in text.

Don't get me wrong, in theory it sounds fun. In practice....a lot of people on the internet can't help themselves and will ruin it very quickly. The attitudes of those in game chat and on these forums have proven we can't have nice things.

  • Power: MINE!

Upon hitting a survivor with an Item I gain said Item. The next survivor smacked upside the head with said item is downed in one hit. Item is destroyed

Downside: If holding onto the item for too long i drop and trip over it (stun)

(honestly i just want to smack someone with their own toolbox)

  • Is this pc thing? I've seen one hook sabo'd since latest release on ps4.

So would mine, but if history repeats itself he'll be called something else and Birdy McBirdface will be given to a random crow...

  • If i make a noob move like returning to a generator i just got caught on, that's on me. If i don't run far enough away when I've been unhooked and you find me...that's on me. You got nothing to worry about, you did your job. There are no survivor rule books, just a bunch of people who can't accept they F'd up somewhere along the way.

I'm just upset getting off work wanting to play and spent money for two more chapters the new one being one of them then seeing that toolbox is pretty close to useless for gen repairing and that all the add ons for the most part are now sabotage add ons now is really irritating and purple key is only 5 second use the but the green broken key is 10 sec sabotage takes 4 second or so to brake hook for 25 seconds when survivors start taking advantage of that then killers are going to be upset I play both killer and survivors I just play more survivor because I have people that play this as well I just see this as a failed attempt at making the game balanced

I can understand frustration. To be fair it doesn't bother me quite so much because I rarely bring toolboxes or keys, it tends to be an invitation to smack me upside the head and face camp me. Does make me laugh a little when its a puny brown toolbox most of the time! I get for someone who might utilize them more it can be something of a pain. Honestly though, just look at it as an excuse to play around with different perks or different methods of play. I know it isn't the answer you want but only the devs can really do that. The only advice i can really give is to remember its just a game and it is possible to adapt. And if you don't feel like it, just take a break for a wee while :)

You are entitled to your opinion and I'm entitled to my observation why nerf items now after them being like this for soo long unless people were complaining about it

I know, which is why i said its okay to not like it. I just don't see the need for childish language. Doesn't really make anybody take you seriously, especially not a dev.

Here we have a thread where both sides are claiming that the devs only cater to the other side. :P

It would almost be funny if it weren't sad.

  • @Bongler said:

This is the worst update I've ever seen when it comes to items what are you going to do next to lose more survivors nerf perks or more items leave it the way it is bending over for killers who suck at this game and whine is just making you look bad helping cry baby snowflakes that want the game to be easier for them rather getting better them self's.

Actually, right now it's you making the rest of us look bad. Please note, that this is not the opinion of every survivor. I really don't mind the toolbox change to be honest, and it's okay not to like it. But can we stop with all this "crybaby" nonsense, because it honestly makes the person saying it seem like a child.

  • Congratulations!

If you are looking for manuverability there are several options.

Oni can really book it when you get his power up and doesn't seem to have the bump into things disadvantage of billy or bubba

Hag can be really fun if you are devious with her traps

Spirit is always fun to whiz around the field.

I admit I'm bias, I have a special place in my heart fr the Hag. First killer to scare the p**s our of me and first killer i really mastered.

  • Meh, I really haven't seen much difference or seen a depletion in players on ps4. But i understand if the new changes aren't for you. Good luck in resitance.

If I was to buff him, I'd say make him 115. Even if it's only outside of a chase, because he doesn't have mobility, arguably the most important thing for a killer to have in the meta.

Even as someone who mostly plays survivor, I'd say that was fair.

  • Only if they can be bannana skins. You won't be able to move when it activates while he's chasing you, but you get to watch him slip on his butt and make a clownish parp! sound.

  • Seems to be doing okay on ps4. Played him a bit and I'm not having too terrible a time. It's been fun learning how to dodge him as survivor too.

  • Been playing several hours on ps4. Haven't seen a single hook sabo'd. Maybe it'll become popular later, but so far its a no show.

  • Did....did a 5 year old make this post?

First of all I have seen PLENTY of killers wiping the floor with teams, and not just potato teams either. I don't doubt there are toxic little s**ts out there but there are NOWHERE near as many as everyone keeps crying about, so it's YOU problem, not a "OMG devs hate killers and loooove survivors" problem.

Guess what...second chance perks...hell ANY perk, is part of the game, it isn't toxic to use a perk no matter how much you might not like it, which is why I don't care what perk a killer brings. It isn't toxic to beat the killer once in a while. If someone is flashlight clicking and teabagging at me, i ignore them....like i was taught to do with obnoxious people by the time i left elementary school.

As mentioned before, you're trying to rally people to make survivors games miserable for mechanics they didn't put into the game? Seriously. I think your lack of winning is a YOU problem, and you are taking it out on the opposing team to make yourself feel better. Plenty of skilled killers manage regular 3 to 4 k's. Embrace your inner child and just admit you want to face camp because you want to, not because the nasty survivors are mean to you by wasting their flashlights and butt bumping the ground like kiddies.

  • @Anara said:

Be hidden is not more effecient than being chase lol, are u playing at red ranks?

How many times did we loose the game because claudettes are hidden, doing nothing but generators?

I'm in red ranks, and sick to the back teeth of watching people throw themselves at the killer. The amount of games where I've seen one, two, three go down in quick succession is mind numbing. If you like chases, good for you, you found a play style that works for you. Other people find that they are more effective in an immersed role. That's part of the wonderful thing about the game and the wide assortment of perks. You get to choose how you would like to play. You don't really get to invalidate anybody else's play style.

  • Put very simply, the people who are rude and abrasive to each other on this forum, understand that there is no real consequence to being an ass to someone over the internet, in a way that most of them wouldn't dare to in real life. Both sides are as bad as each other for this, because you don't have to be killer or survivor to treat people like cr*p, its a personal choice.

And all over a video game. Christ I must be getting old, because i just don't understand it myself.

  • If you don't like being tunnelled and camped then DC. If you don't like the killer/survivor, DC. If you don't like a Map/Addon/perk/item.....you can still DC. The option is still there for you. However as with all things in life for adults, there are now consequences for that, and I hope like heck they keep it that way.

I'm sick of ending up 3 or two men teams because someone threw a hissy fit and DC's. Fed up of the rare time i play killer and someone DC's because they got found first. For the killers that DON'T tunnel and camp, and there are plenty, they still got DC'd on multiple times because people don't like losing. Same with killers who did it when the 5th gen went off.

You all have the ability to DC, and unless you're doing it every game, it's a minor penalty at that. I'll take a few minute ban for a legitimate time out or internet blip, rather than go back to the old mess.

  • A music video for a place that goes round and round chasing the same circular arguments again an again.....

Also a perfect way to emphasise chases you say?...

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MK6TXMsvgQg

  • I rarely post in the forum anymore but I thought i'd add my two cents.

Honestly, as trite as it sounds, and i mean this for both sides..remember its a damn game. Now I get why people are so combative with each other, any game that has sides is going to be a bit of a s**t show. Imbalances, bugs, bias, trolling etc it all ends up with the mentality of us versus them.

Me personally, I stopped getting involved in all that and i never bring it into a game. Because it is a game and whether another person might declare they don't care if the other side has fun, and that's their right, I think i'd rather everyone had a fun game so that each session makes it worth coming back for more and not a bag of stress to dive into.

You don't even have to be 'nice', I'm all for the killer/survivor who gives me a run for my money, and if you kick my butt, well all's fair. I'm not going to blame your perks, build or add on's, you are using what the game has given you (Okay ebony mori might be a tiny bit strong but it ain't the end of the world) The real simple way to think of it is...just don't be a d**k! Don't facecamp and tunnel right off the hook, don't farm your team mates off the hook, don't teabag at the gates(I know some do this to say gg but most killers ain't going to understand that), don't drop the survivor near the hatch just to shut it in their faces. In other words, win or lose, do it with some maturity and don't use it to ram salt/victory down your opponents.

I get that not everyone is going to show an appreciation of someone trying to be nice, but there hasn't been a moment in the history of this game where everyone was happy.

That's genuinely all some of us ask from both sides. Bring your best, give me a challenge otherwise i'd get bored. Just don't be a d**k.

I'm sorry if it wasn't quite the response that you asked for but honestly, what and who you bring don't really matter to me when it comes to the other side being nice.

    Game on peoples!

  • I do agree with you, it would be nice to see constructive conversations on this forum that don't resort to the usual "I'm right and anyone that disagrees is a this/that main and/or uneducated". However the simple fact is that some people are very passionate and sometimes blind to the opposing side, some people refuse to look at things objectively and some people just delight in stirring the pot because they really don't have much of interest to contribute or are just plain bored.

I guess its just easier to yell "Crybaby killer/survivors" or "Devs are biased towards killer/survivors" instead of trying another perspective....at least for some.

We can't control what other people do, and there is sadly ALWAYS someone who can't act like an adult when having a discussion. It's all very well to say "Offer suggestions to improve it" but lets be honest, we have no control over what someone else behind the safety of the screen will do, that's up to the mods, and even they can only do so much without being accused of over censoring,

The best advice I can offer you is to stick to your guns. Be one of the adults and conduct yourself as such, don't get sucked into the toxic melting pot, try and see things from both sides, especially when it comes to solutions to issues both sides seem to have nearly every other day. I also can't stress this enough, take occasional breaks, because christ the tantrums never seem to stop.

  • If you don't want to watch the butt dance Olympics, then don't. Turn around, walk away. If they are so VERY desperate to have you judge the twerking, they might even grow balls big enough to come away from the exit gate to do their little dance (unlikely).

There are far more important things for the devs to be wasting their time with than butt dance banning.

  • Honestly I don't have much of an opinion on blendettes one way or another. Sometimes they are hard to find, sometimes they are not, same with other characters,

However, if a person has bought the game or paid for cosmetics, they can play who and however they damn well want. If they want to dress up stealthier than solid snake in a jungle, that's their choice, if they want to dress up brighter than a traffic cone, welp they can go ahead and do that to.

I'm sure there is plenty about this game that annoys individual people all over, but we're never going to be able to stop people from playing how they want in a game they pay for, so why go on about it?

  • It somewhat says something that this poll doesn't have a "Not Overpowered" option.

  • @Chaotic_Riddle said:

@GrootDude How do you respond to these accusations?

Give him time, he has to manage to stop laughing before he responds.

  • Unfortunately it is part of the survivors job to watch carefully when they are doing gens, to not allow this to happen. The three gen strat is very common and you have to ask yourself why the killer wouldn't protect those three gens rather than run around a large portion of the map that he know's you aren't going to be. If he was able to keep you all off for that long, they had to be fairly close together, a self made situation sadly, it's not bannable.

  • Hag will always be top of my list for fun, there is just so much jump scare fun to be had, probably why I love scratched Myers too.
