but all they do is create a few sparks

They blind the ######### out of you, and it's super easy to hit, and instant.

I just had a 4 man save 4 people from my shoulder by bringing 4. I don't even think Lightborn counters them. (except to lower the amount of blind time)

I will state, the blind time is just the base blind time though. So I wouldn't stand in front of the killer.

So I was looking for some advice and/or opinion on what to do and what should be done when a survivor(s) do not leaving the trial after the exit gates open?

Recently I have had a lot of matches trying out new killers and a lot of the survivors have be exceptionally toxic both in game and post game PSN messaging  and I can deal with that.

What really is annoying me is that some suvivours have been staying in the trial well after the exit gates have been opened and they have being teabagging me in never-ending loops in the map.

So my question is this, how do I counter this? 10 to 15 minutes of my time is wasted on this and I can't seem to do anything about it. Should gameplay mechanics be looked at to prevent this (e.g. 5 minutes to leave or do another 2 gens) or is this just going to be another way that killer mains get bullied by OP survivors?

this is why I don't play with new killers that much, and mostly play the ones that let me devastate them. (AKA, the princess: Hag)

I go and smoke a bowl, or flip the tv on, and face a corner. Let them tire themselves out like the children they are. It's #########, especially since reporting them nets you nothing. They are looping you because they know they can. If none have left. Just D/c. You'll deny them survival points at least.

And lets be hones,t who honestly gives a ######### about ranking up? there is no point, and no reward except salt.

  • Use their salt to tastify your games.

Seriously, they will call you a tunneler even if they walk right into you after an unhook.

They will call you a camper if you go smack a nearby gen, and circle back for the unhook that usualy comes when the sack bar is at 75%

And let's not forget everyones favorite complaint, basementing.

I get so much salt for throwing survivors in the basement. Which is weird, since it's usualy the best place to put a hook. (not always)

Not like I was doing it with Wraith, but survivors tend to hold the game hostage when you AFK, often making it like 30-40 minutes matches.

I can see that. probably sitting in the TR for free Bold points.

  • @AntiJelly said:
Well, there are two de-pipping methods. The first is disconnecting after loading into a game. For each game it's -2 pips. The second is AFKing as Wraith or Freddy (So you don't get chase points). For each game of these, it's -1 pip.

I DO NOT CONDONE THE USE OF DEPIPPING
(but I do condone the use of informing people of certain information)

    I don't like D/cing

And the other 2 methods seems... Boring. but useful if I want to watch an anime or something while losing pips.

But thanks for the info. I didn't think about doing that with the wraith.

I was hoping for info that could help me "play" but just enough to lose.

My favorite killer to go against is Michael Myers. I like the fact that he can jump scare you, and I like listening to the Halloween themed chase music and terror radius.

This. Not really caring about the jump scare. But the Halloween themed music is great, and his power is fun to play against.

They can't guard two gates and the hatch at the same time.

This is what's wrong with the endgame, in general. Not just hatch standoffs

2 exits, then 3 if only 1 person is left in the map, including if everyone went out a gate.

    Just... why?

There's more than one gate because the killer would just stand in front of the controls every time and prevent anyone from ever leaving, and there would be nothing the survivors could do about it.

The hatch is there when only one survivors is alive because the killer could easily patrol between the two gates (even just LOS is enough), giving the survivor no chance to ever escape. Same goes for repairing generators. The second the killer notices that a generator progressed, they're going to search the area and find them, making it a death sentence. If the last survivor has no chance, they're just going to hide until they do. Sitting around for half an hour while they wait for an opportunity that'll never come isn't fun for anybody.

I'm going to break this down into 2 different parts.

1: "There's more than one gate because the killer would just stand in front of the controls every time and prevent anyone from ever leaving, and there would be nothing the survivors could do about it."

Yes, it would give them a way to stop the game for a moment. Thing is, the killer can't just stand in front of the gate like you said. Here's why: The killer will hang up his hook, or chase, or otherwise leave the immediate area of the gate. The gate, if you don't remember, does not reset progress if you stop. This means you can (and i have) rotated people on a single exit, open it, and escape. even with heavy gate camps. In fact, this would be much more fun and engaging then the free escape it pretty much is now.

2: The hatch is there when only one survivors is alive because the killer could easily patrol between the two gates (even just LOS is enough), giving the survivor no chance to ever escape

You do understand that it takes 2 hits to down a survivor on MOST killers, right? So if you get hit going for the gate, you can walk right out. In fact, you get a nice speed buff, and the killer gets slowed. That hatch has absolutely no need to be there when the gates are opened. Especially if people have escaped through the gates already.

There can be an arguement made for the hatch under a handful of situations. In solo survivor it can be hard to get even 2 gens done if your teammates can't manage a chase longer then 20 seconds.

However, exit gates open, and 3 escapes is not a time there needs to be a hatch.

"I don't run self care because I find it fairly easy to find someone else to heal me in about the same time, so I really just feel like it's wasted perk slot the majority of the time."

Exactly why i take Res. Most people pretty much beg to heal you for points. Res gets us through the gen faster, and I can let them heal me if I feel the need.

  • Legion's problem is actually his add-ons.

He has redundancy. And a lot of it.

    ie:
He has 2 purples that make him 3 hit in frenzy

He has one add-on that reduces the charge time of his frenzy...

...And another that reduces it's cooldown.

He has a red add-on that's god tier on Wraith, but useless on him. (he has to stun himself to figure out which gen is being worked on/ what the gen's healths are. If you don't know, I'm talking about the Fuming Mix-tape)

Then he has add-ons that lower the frenzy you lose from normal attacks. This one actually has me confused as to "why does this exist?"

This redundancy and otherwise bad add-ons really hurt his viability. If they cleaned them up, and gave him more utility, he would be much more useful.

I do however think he's Grade B. Probably B-. I use him fine at rank 1. Really sweaty try-hard SWF groups will give him a problem. But they are a problem themselves. So argue that point all you want.

  • I don't run Self Care.

Instead I run Resiliance and Iron Will

2 perks I know, but the free toolbox is worth it. Especially if you are smart, and save your actual toolbox until you get hit. (Why do you need to use a toolbox on the first 1-2 gen's done anyways? They are almost guaranteed, I save my toolboxes until the game is going)

This Is Not Happening is also fun to run, throw in dead hard and you got my build.

why TINH? Have you seen how big it makes the great skillcheck boxes? They are almost the size of a rank 3 overcharge check. hitting greats becomes routine, which speeds up the gen.

TLDR: don't heal, stay injured, and join the bleeding movement :)

  • Noed is a game slower. You have 3 game slowing hexes.

Ruin is for the early game. This will slow the gen progress for the first few minutes of the game.

Huntress' Lullaby is for Mid Game. Once you start getting hooks, they will start failing skillchecks. This slows the game in the middle, till they get annoyed and clear it. (I can smell the hate. But it works, and works at rank 1 all day, till you get 5 hooks, then suddenly people stop failing checks that's why it's a mid game slower)

NOED is for the endgame. The purpose of which is to get a survivor on the hook, and make people come back for them. Since there's 2 exits (3 if there's only one person left, and that one starts opened) It's usualy impossible to protect them, and killers tend to assume they will be open by the time they get there. But good survivor wont leave if someones on the hook. This gets survivors to come back in, find that totem, and unhook their teammate. It's not actually meant to get bad killers one sack, it's meant to give killers with less map pressure an end game.

I don't consider Devour Hope a game slower, I consider it a snowballer. At least, that's how I use it.

Do the scratch marks seem a little iffy to anyone else? I find them so much harder to follow and they seem to be really nonsensical sometimes.

Let me know if you guys think about it.

The new update's switch to unreal engine has messed with the scratch marks I've posted about it in Bugs. But like all bugs, we have no idea if the devs know/care/ are working on it.

Not only is there spawning seeming a little off, the new "look" makes them darker then before. especially against darker grounds.

And poor Legion, who's power manipulates the scratch marks.... They keep not coming back for extra long. (plus it's like people don't even make scratch marks at all while you are frenzied, and that's...? )

  • wait, you think the survivors should out power the killer.....

That is all i'm going to say.

  • I'm finding success with Bloodhound, Ruin, Huntress', and Discordance/TOTH depending on my mood.

I'm also testing a "screw your generator's" build:
Ruin, Overcharge, Pop goes the weasel, Discordance

Dive over a pallet and dash for a hit....walk backwards to let them bleed out a bit....sounds like great design right there. it actually does. you don't have to walk backward, just look away, or let them run off, and break line of sight themselves. I choose to take a couple steps backwards, but it doesn't really help the process. Also, if the survivor doesn't run away, it counters the whole process, and you,as the killer, need to find a way to deal with it. I like it, it has counter play, and is using the chase mechanic in the game. Learn to adapt. Cote, is that you? But seriously if that's what you find fun, more power to you. It doesn't suit me though. Getting an easy hit and then cheesing the mechanics to make them blees out.

I prefer the "earn 2 hits" gameplay.

That's absolutely fine :) Everyone likes different things. I happen to be a Hag main. So the 110 movement speed is just another tuesday for me.

I don't think it's really cheesing though. that's the only thing that bothers me this, is how people think it's somehow abusing a game mechanic.

It's no different then turning backwards at a jungle gym so the survivor doesn't see your red stain coming, ot using your red stain to bluff a bad window vault.

Those are both techniques the community views as "high skill" why is it an exploit to let the survivor run away and break chase?

Probably because it's easy to get a frenzy hit with legion. Then just stalking them down while they need to mend....I dunno feels nasty man.

It is nasty. But less nasty then one hitting with a chainsaw. Also, there's a lot more counter play. especially when you get SWF in the mix.

NOTHING more annoying then someone timing there bleedout to land next to someone that picks them right up.

So lets go over this again, I might try it out later.

I hit them with frenzy, look away to get the timer ticking, then resume looking for them?

Won't that just pause the timer? Or do you let it bleed down a bit then frenzy hit them to deplenish it 100%? I know truetalent does this but he's using the purple add-on which I don't have.

Do I chase them at a distance to keep the timer ticking? And do I need stridor and bloodhoud to locate them again?

You you look away, and watch the meter, the moment it starts ticking down, you start following the bloodtrail. You don't need any of the purps, if you do it this way, it's 3 hit every time. The purps make it so you do not have to let them escape.

Try taking bloodhound. It makes tracking super easy. Also since most people wont heal, you can follow blood trails at gens when they try to stealth you. (since the blood trails last a good bit longer)

edited to add: You do need to understand how close you can get to them before the chase picks back up, but generally speaking, by the time you catch up, they have bled enough for it to be a 3 hit.

    Is getting chainsawed fun?

Is a one hit hatchet fun? How about when it's from a hilltop on the other side of the map?

There's counterplay to it so it's not as dirty as some things. And I think it's pretty fun.

    :)

Please explain the counterplay to cheesing chase mechanics. Please.

You be confident in your chase skills, and stay close so the chase doesn't break. This forces the killer into an extended chase, one that you can win as the survivor.

    Nice post here.

I agree. The Legion has some potential, he's unique. People would to compare him to someone.. like "he's a worse Freddy" or... "Freddy 2.0" or something like that.

Or just say he's trash. He's not.

He's well designed. He has a cool look and all that. He's just a bit weak, but clearly they went the fun route over dominance. Which is fine I guess.

As it stands now... he's fun to play and different. As survivor I really enjoy playing against him. As a killer I have a decently hard time, but he's still fun.

I'm not sure about you, but I tend to have a hard time when I first pick up a new killer.

Even the Legion. I'm talking here after playing waaay to much of this game (i'm a disabled vet so I just play games all day) But I had, and still have, bad games with him. But at some point I will have his mechanics memorized to the point that he will be like my hag. Where things happen on instinct.

I honestly think he's B tier. Stronger then average but not amazing, wihtout addons.

With his purps... I don't know if you know this, but he has 2 purps that let him 3 hit. You only need one on for it to work, not both.

Franks Mix Tape will drop them below 50% with 2 frenzy hits

And the stab wounds survey makes the total timer like 75% or something, so 3 hits downs.

With either one of these you no longer need to let them escape the chase.

Bloodhound is META as hell on him. People don't want to heal against him, which means they leave bright red tracks when they try to stealth you. I can't count how many laughs i've had following blood trails from gens mid game, and getting a free, no frenzy down.

    This.

It's not exploiting anything. It's waiting letting them get distance and hunting them down.

But hey, hate what you hate. I'll keep winning.

Hes weak. Im pretty sure no Killer was actually designed to run backwards for a cheezy down.

I'll use any other Killer instead that can down people without exploiting mechanics, but hey, hate what you hate. I'll keep winning (without having to exploit as a weak Killer).

You are exploiting mechanics with every single killer.

When you time a loop with your bloodlust, that's exploiting a chase mechanic.

When you turn backwards to hide your red stain at a jungle Gym, that's exploiting a mechanic.

When you use your killer power, you are exploiting a mechanic.

The legion is meant to be that killer that lets his prey escape, but then hunts them back down. His deep wounds let's him do that, by making people mend while he does his chase Hey, it's not for you, you want to be in the survivors face the whole time. Or whatever your thing is. That's cool. But you should at least take a step back and see him for what he is. A decently strong killer with a different way of securing kills then other killers.

He's Not Billy, but he's still strong, and viable at Rank 1

You are straight up using him wrong.

Oh I love this part. Please enlighten me on the correct way to use Legion.

It's easy. Go to where survivors are, freny, hit them, when you are on the last person, hit him twice, stun out of frenzy.

then, you let them leave. Count to 3, the chase ends, they bleed out FAST, you follow the blood, try not to start chase to soon, pop frenzy, get hook

Or they run to a pallet and start mending and laugh at you while you can't do anything. I mean sure, you can just sit there and wait for your power to come back, but that only further supports my "least fun killer in the game" debate. You get an unavoidable hit, sit there, and get another unavoidable hit. That is just awful design, I don't care how effective or ineffective it is.

Your power comes back fast, you only need 1-2 seconds to smack them and down them. If they are by a pallet it's a free down.

I'll record a video tonight and post it for you.

Everybody can record a video of himself doing good with ANY killer. Monto has a 3k video with burger king myers (tier 1 myers with 100% ms and no increased lunge) in a 3v1 match where survs didn't do any gens and a 4k video right after

Then watch my stream and watch me pip about every game with him?
That wasn't my point, my point was to record a video showing how to do what I'm saying to do. AKA, a guide.

Pretty much the best killers of this community say he's trash but here you are showing us a guide on a straightforward character that you think nobody figured out. Breaking the [BAD WORD] chase so the timer ticks down is an obvious choice esp since mending doesn't stop the timer anymore unless they're at 99%, he still sucks even with that tactic which basically guarantees you down somebody.

They call killers bad while 4king with them.

    Some even call hag bad.

Get your own opinion. Hey, letting the chase break might seem obvious, but considering the OP didn't mention it, maybe you should chill out.

The other option is to follow a survivor backwards and just cheese the chase mechanics of the game until they either bleed out or get to low enough bleedout to be hit by an unavoidable frenzy hit. This is painful and unfun for the survivor and the killer.

He did mention it, you don't read it carefully.

His post read like he was running around hitting everyone, then going and looking for one he hit.

That's how you lose. you start the frenzy with a plan.

But hey, ya'll hate him. Doesn't bother me any.

I'm winning games and having fun. His power is strong if you use it right, most chases last half the time I'm used to. And that includes hitting 3 ppl.

If you are getting your opinions from other people, and not changing your mind till they do... There's something wrong with that. Try getting good with the killer.

I'll record a video tonight and post it for you.

How is it a free down if they're at a pallet? They see you coming, they run, initiating chase again. You then have to use your power to hope to catch back up, which means you get another non lethal hit and now they're at around 1/3rd bleedout, and now you have to wait again. You will eventually down someone with Legion with no counterplay, but it takes far too long to be efficient and even if it didn't take long its still awful game design because there's no counterplay whatsoever.

Now that my game isn't loading, I will slow down and explain it a little better.

Let's say I'm patrolling generators, and come across 3 people doing one. I pop frenzy, hit the first guy, the second guy then the third guy. I then stay on that third guy and hit him again, cutting his meter down .

Then I will turn around, while STILL STUNNEd, and look the OPPOSITE DIRECTION of the third person I hit, and count to three. On the count of 3, the chase breaks, causing him to bleed out fast.

I then follow the blood trail back to the third survivor I hit. While I do this, the other 2 are NOT DOING GENS, because they had to mend. Sure they hop back onto the gen after mending, but that 15-20 seconds means A LOT. (that's counting time to walk back to the gen)

Once I get close to the third guy, I pop freny and down them.

NOW, good survivors will sometimes run right to a pallet, and start to mend, if they are your target.

That's fine, You walk around the pallet and smack them, or they hop the pallet, letting you pop frenzy, and knock there meter down to "you better start mending in a few seconds" They run, you do what I said before, count to 3, then follow the blood.

    Hello @SmokePotion

I am taking the time to clarify a bit on the questions / feedback you have:

    • We have been releasing on Tuesdays since the Year 2 anniversary and the introduction to our new roadmap. It is normal players will assume a release is planned on Tuesday.
    • We are not announcing dates for multiple reasons, specifically because we have exclusivity engagements with partners. These are legal bound contracts and we have to stick to the release schedule.
    • We release information on changes / patch notes every single time we patch. If you are interested, they are published in your news pop-up (in-game) as well as the official forums.
    • You bought this game and by doing so, you bought a revocable license.

    From the EULA

    • BHVR hereby grants to you a limited, personal, nonexclusive, nontransferable, non-assignable and fully revocable license to use the Game and any Content therefrom for your individual, non-commercial, entertainment purposes only.
    • From time to time, BHVR may provide you with updates or modifications to the Game. You understand that certain updates and modifications may be required in order to continue the use of the Game.

I'm not saying you can't make updates. I'm saying it's your legal responsibility to explain, in detail, your updates to the game.We should not have to find out about changes by playing and being surprised by them. You do not list all the changes in your patch notes.
And this post seems to have taken a hard turn somewhere, since the main point of the post is that you, as a company, do not communicate very well with your playerbase One of the points is patch notes. The other was things like the new chapter release date not having any space on the official site or forums, and instead requires people to hunt down the info.

Here's a third one, the news on the main site is still the summer BBQ info.

The TLDR of it all is that you guys, at least to me, are putting out a very unprofessional vibe.

  • @Orion said:

You bought a license to play the game. Don't sign contracts (like the EULA) without reading them.

They still need to inform the players of changes to the game. why are you defending this practice?

    @EntityDispleased said:
Technically it's BHVR's property since you are using it under their rules. If you happen to cheat or break the rules they can kick you off their property.

Not really. In fact their anti-cheating, since it takes place on servers that aren't theirs, is in a legal grey area too. Again,k why are you defending the lack of communication? do you enjoy them changing your killers and survivors without tellign you, and you have to figure it out in game? Is that why you gave them money?

  • @Peanits said:
Honest answer, no. Not yet at least.

The game is still doing well. Growing, even. I don't think it needs it. There's not much to gain by doing so. Sure, you'd have more players, but you also open up the floodgates for anyone to make an alt account and start griefing or cheating.

I don't have a problem with free-to-play, I think it's great when a game that's past its prime get a second wind by going free. But Dead by Daylight still doing well, so it's not really necessary at the moment. I think waaaay down the line it might be a good fit. You could have a "free" version where you get a rotation of killers each week, and then have a standard edition that comes with all the currently (and future?) 'free' killers. I definitely it might be a good idea some day, just not any time soon.

This. Plus, the games price point isn't high. The basic game is 10 bucks. DLC are 6, or free if you want.
The company has never really been super into monetization.

That would have to change, if they went FTP. FTP can exist only because of microtransactions.

  • Meh. I'm hoping he gets another round of buffs. but i'll be getting him day 1.

But i wouldn't call it "hyped"

So I was wondering if anyone has tips for countering this since I have had to stop using hex perks.

Thats the counter right there, stop using hex perks.

At the very most use 1. (Or 2 if the second is Thrill or HG). Having loads is too much to defend and leaves you perkless. It's only good for fun builds, not long term viable builds.

I disagree. I run 4 Hex's all the time at rank 1. I got the idea from the halloween event. If the survivors spend the first 3 minutes looking for my totems, instead of rushing gens, the game is much, much better paced.
If they clear them all out quick, good, that's what they are meant for.
That's why I run Ruin, Huntress' Lullaby, Thrill, And Devour.

They have to clear those totems or they get oppressive. While they run around looking for them and clearing them slowly, i get hooks.
As for being perkless. Killers don't really need them. I run naked Killers at Rank 1 all the time, and win. (I'll even do the Hag with no perks or ad-ons)

And th best part about the 4 hex build: I have gotten to mori people at rank 1 with Devour...A lot...

  • @Maximus7 said:
His Frenzy gives tokens to STBFL and Remember Me, it applies Third Seal, and makes survivors drop their items with Franklin's. It also causes Mangled and Hemorrhage due to Sloppy Butcher. It does NOT apply insta-down hits due to Exposed perks, however.

And this is why nerfs like the one to Wake Up and Snap Out Of It are dumb.

Many killer powers interact with perks.

I get your point about messing with muscle memory, but I'd argue that a Survivor staring paranoid for the silent skill check isn't a Survivor looking to see which direction the Killer is coming from.

That's and argument to be made. But that really only comes into play for people trying to heal. As there is a real threat of the killer chasing you down. People sitting safely at a generator aren't bothered to much by it. I've taken to asking people after the game about the hex. And most red rank survivors agree that the skillchecks get easier at 5 stacks.

    @Keene_Kills said:
Perhaps on the 5th stack it could give a substantially false skillcheck warning chime (I'd like to use this with Freddy, myself) ALONG WITH either bouncing the skillcheck ring to different points on the screen (like Doc's tier 3 Madness) or narrowing the skillcheck ring success section down to Decisive Strike size. It's description states it's supposed to "muddle the survivor's attention," so that should muddle it nicely. I've hardly ever had a Hex totem last up to 5 levels, so that final level may as well be made worth it when you can get it to activate.

The fifth stack making the skillcheck something like overcharges tier 3 skillcheck would be a really really strong buff for the fifth stack for sure, and I wouldn't be opposed to moving skillchecks, but both at the same time would be to much at 5 stacks.

However I do think that the stronger version is actually still mine. Becasue the varying change in skillcheck timers is really what's messing with the survivors, and making the totem oppressive. When you go from 2 hooks, to 3, to 4, this messes up there reflexes considerably. And I often see the most failed skillchecks right after getting a hook. If I lose momentum, the skillcheck failings slow down.
