I should point out that I am, generally, Ok with flashlights, especially if they find them in trial. It's part of the game.
Using said flashlight to troll me is different though.
-
Look behind you. The phasing is there for a reason, and can be enhanced (barely...) through add ons. As a spirit main, i want them to buff those items so i can walk around passive phasing all trial. Cause it looks kewl.

So all killers should suck besides the nurse?no they're are still many viable candidates but from my personal experience hillbilly is just too easy to reach high ranks and on ps4 surviving will always put you against a hillbilly not even kidding 98% hillbilly match he is too easy to play completely effectively
Billy isn't OP. He takes skill to use, and skill to beat. He's kinda perfect. The range of his sprint seems silly as a stand alone point, but it's that speed and range that lets him compete at high skill levels. I will state that I don't like using him, but that's probably because i suck with him. I prefer Spirit/Hag/Doctor. which means those are what I play in high skill games on ps4, and I find that if I do something, a bunch of other people are doing it too.
-
I play both in top tier ranking on playstation. It depends on what you want to do.
Hag is great if you know how survivors like to escape you, so you can trap the escapes before you initiate chases.
Hex Ruin is MASSIVELY overated for game stalling. At around rank 13ish survivors are smart enough to immediately hunt it off the map, and then you only have 3 perks for the trial. I don't run it, on anyone.
Spirit is my personal favorite though. As a hag, if a good survivor runs into an area you don't have trapped, you generally have to drop that chase. Spirit has the ability to put map pressure everywhere, chase a distraction to a corner of the map, and get back to put pressure on the gens. She can chase and mindgame really well.
But it's up to you, both are great. But the spirit is definately more new-killer friendly.

I'de like to see a Mime skin on him. Cause c'mon. Killer Mime.
I like the idea of a killer santa skin for him too.
How about a deranged killer Living Statue guy? lol
But screw all this. Give me a real clown map please. Like a dark reflection of a state fair or something.

I play on ps4 and "Old Guy Jake" doesn't look very old, and it made me think about the trope of the super athletic old guy.Perks:
Second wind: Exhaustion lasts 75/65/55% as longEat My Dust: After being in a chase for 30 seconds, gain a 150% burst of speed for 1/2/3 seconds.
This perk aligns with the killers second burst of Bloodlust. It's meant to aid in getting from one loop to the next. Like lithe, but with an extended chase mechanic. Being hit resets the chase, and therefore the timer. Making it high risk, high reward for a perk slot.Aint Dead Yet: Crawling a certain amount of meters alows you to pick yourself up (once or twice per game? there should be a limit, but it will make killers have to think carefully about the benifits of slugging)
Every perk besides the second one is a bad idea. Lower the numbers a bit for Eat My Dust and there you go ez perk. There's already Vigil and Unbreakable so there's no need for the other 2.
Aint Dead Yet is meant to be a different way of doing unbreakable. Kinda like mixing Tapps ability to crawl and heal, with unbreakable for a new concept of a perk. It allows for customizability.
Perks like balanced landing and lithe have the same effect but activate for different situations. Ain't Dead Yet is just like running Unbreakable with Tenacity. If Ain't Dead Yet were to be a perk, you would have to crawl a long time. I think it would be better if instead of crawling a certain amount of meters, it depends on how long you've been on the ground. Like if your 'bleeding out timer' reaches halfway or 1 then you pick yourself up.
That's a good way of looking at it too. I was thinking you would have to crawl a while, and being dribbled would reset it. Kinda forcing the killer to come back or let you get up. But the bleed out timer idea works. Maybe break the bar up into thirds, with the two partitions being times you can get up

It's his backstory. He used to collect fingers from people he killed.
Or maybe he just likes the taste of generator oil.
I get the finger collection, that's his Motis Operandi as a serial killer. But yeah, I think he likes the taste of generator oil.

No tricks to that. Just give it a couple days. Sorry. I would recomend playing a little survivor so you can see what other killers do. My survivor rank is really bad (13 currently...) But I've learned a lot about how survivors evade me playing that side.
-
Huntress isn't bad to learn on. This is an interesting topic. Most guides tend to assume you've got all the perks.
I started playing this almost 2 months ago now, and I'm currently a rank 5 Killer on ps4. Here's some stuff I've learned.
Read/learn what the status effects mean that you are inflicting. Some of them could use better names. IE: Exposed doesn't expose them, it lets you one shot them.(I call it Vulnerable)
Sometimes it's better to stop chasing someone to put pressure on the generators. This doesn't mean drop all your chases. You will just have to learn what a good chase is, and what a bad chase is. But in general: If they are running you to the opposite side of the map the gens are on, they are a distraction.
Good perks:
Good perks on your first killer is kinda hard. You chose the Huntress, and her personal kit tends to be lacking, IMHO. her Hex, Huntress Lullaby is pretty decent for slowing down the game, but suffers from the same problem all decent hex's have. They glow. So not to hard to find, no matter where you shove them. (not that you can choose where they go)Sloppy Butcher is GREAT. It's 100% as effective at slowing down the game at rank 1 as it is at rank 3.
Bitter Murmer: I STILL run this in high skill games on my hag. It's guaranteed that decent survivors will get a couple generators at least. you might as well get all the information you can from it (like where to ambush them)
Hex: No One Escapes Death: If survivors are..Surviving. Then this will be your new best friend. Suddenly those quick opening exit gates will feel like an eternity. And best of all, it's almost as effective at rank 1 as rnak 3, the difference being your movement speed buff. This hex is better then others because it only turns a torem on, once the gates are powered, and they wont know until you've put one or two down with it, that they need to find that totem.
Iron Grasp: I absolutely hate someone wiggling free right before a hook. This will make there struggles in vain.
Other then that, it's all about playstyle. I like to slow down healing as much as possible. But you should consider getting Overcharge from the Doctor. it will stop people roaching generators (sneaking right behind you after you break it, to stop it's regression. It puts a skillcheck on the action, which will degrade the gen extra far if they fail It's great and is much better then Hex: Ruin for consistant game slowing.)
-
It only spawns so many good pallets now. I find if there's 2 pallets close by eachother, one is a free hit for me if i don't let them stun me with it.
-
No, but I love having her over my shoulder.

@Aviema said:
just run noed it counters teabagging survivors who sit in the gatesNot really.... Actually not at all. It's the safe effect. You still have to smack them, and they still crawl out. Unless they are dumb and teabag you from the middle of the gate.
What NOED does is give a killer a chance during the endgame. Normally the survivors can split between two gates and get them both rather safely. With NOED you can start throwing people on hooks making the gates unsafe until they find the totem.
-
There's pity, which happens sometimes, when I'm not feeling sadistic. It's a 3 person game or some such.
But what happens more often is when I respect them. If a certain survivor has ran some good loops without getting an ego and being trollish, and if they are one of the last two alive, i'll let them hatch out. or i'll drop them at the hatch and let them crawl out. At this point I've lost enough double pips because of a 1% hook camping that i didn't deserve, that I just don't care about my rank. But then again I play around rank 5.
-
Pussy willows on the hag. 3 sec aura tracking. great in cornfields, mazes, and anywhere you wanna track roach movements.
-
what's that translate to on console? What is the button labled so i can do it on ps4
-
Blindness as a temporary disability is dumb (blindness for 30 secs, like from the huntress' poison) However, blindness that sticks, like from the Hex The Third Seal is very useful.
It's a catchall perk that doubles as other aura blinding perks. If you've smacked their healers once that game, they wont be able to see slugged survivors (like knockout) Hooked Survivors, Use any perks that give aura reading ( very common perks, especially on Claudette's), and if they want to stop this, they have to go find that totem.
I like it over Hex Ruin at rank 7. Because the moment they know ruin is on the board, they go hunting for it, and your down a perk. You can usualy get work out of the third seal before they hunt for it, and it slows down the mid game a little.
-
Take a step backwards and do a regular swing, not a lunge. That's how I counter it, and after they get smacked they usualy stop them.
-
Farm games are boring so what i do is this: If i see them doing a harvest, I nod at them and go check gens or try to kill there friend. A lot of the times if i catch one harvesting I let them harvest, they wont struggle, so i can get an event hook. At first people didn't catch on, but it seems people get it now.
-
the amount of serum from survivor to killer seems... One sided. And most survivors wont let you bring them to an event hook, even if you let them harvest there canker.
I've started slugging people for the rudeness. -
Yeah, grinding those vials as the killer is harsh. It's far easier as a survivor honestly. I've gotten 3 to 1 average so far.
-
I actually like it. Now it feels a bit better. i can get 2 full outfits, or I can skip the things i don't want (drool boy doctor face) and collect a reasonable amount of things I do want to give me some new outfit mixes.
-
I agree that it was bad marketing. This isn't a Halloween event. The skins are available all year long, and not holliday thematic.
This is a kickoff to a lore plot. That's why you can buy the blighted skins whenever you want.

That is a ridiculous statement to make. Now everyone that agrees that 1 skin was fine hates our disabled war vets? Like come on man. And the event is a lot like the Overwatch. If you don't get what yu want you can buy it? Well there's no reason anyone needs all 7 skins. So pick 1 for free and then buy the other one you really like. Don't drop 60$ to buy all the skins. A couple should be enough.
There are posts that say things along the lines of "I can afford it, so it's no problem" or other ways of dismissing the pay wall. Chill, or examine yourself to see why you feel guilty.
Also, in overwatch, and many other games, you can unlock all the holiday content. Also, why is the content available all year long? That just feels like it takes any kind of achievement out of it. "Hey i got this exclusive skin that everyone else can get all year long... I got a new skin..."

I actually do feel bait and switched
First thing they need to realized is that this isn't F2P. I paid money for this game.
Second thing that needs to be realized is that if you play pretty much any other game, there's similar events being run. And they aren't charging you for most of the halloween stuff. (ie: Overwatch has new lootboxes, but if you don't get what you want by the end of the event you can buy the cosmetic, a better system imho)
As for having the money and the cosmetics looking cool: Some of us are Disabled Iraq war vets on a fixed income.. There is no shame in being poor, so stop shaming those of us who are.
Some microtransactions are cool. I really like the chapters, good content and affordable for those of us who have to consider such things. Which should be bringing them a regular influx of capital.

Thank you both, i figured it out. It's been a handy tool in the right circumstance.

You should encourage more interaction with the killer, not less.Say what? I'll support your technical issues. But this is weird... The killers sole job is to kill the survivors.... what more interacting do you want? Because if the game is supposed to encourage survivor killer interactions, then you got that - its called flashlights and decisive strike - things that killers constantly complain about.
By that I mean, give them more reasons to do more then kneel by a generator. Like getting parts for said generator or something. Encourage chances to be hunted, because thats when the game is most fun. I' have more fun hunting down my next gen, then I do repairing it, as a survivor. And I have the most fun when i'm actively avoiding the killer.

I'm not sure if all my Killer mains know this, but did you know the Clown semi-counters DS?Next time you down someone that has DS, try this:
reload your bottles, then smack one straight down on the slug, then pick them up, and stand in the cloud. The DS skillcheck goes off, but the whole time you are stunned, they are slowed and coughing. I've not lost many DS using the clown once I thought of this, even in corn fields. the coughing is a entity send. They just can't get far enough away.
I though that too.
I just played clown and got hit twice by non-obession DS out of nowhere. I am ready to retire my clown again
Yeah those hidden DS will get you... But hey, at least you can get the obvious one
-
How do you dribble? I have pushed every button, and i can't drop the guy.
Also, enduring on a clown pulling this trick, pretty much guarantees they don't escape. They will still be slowed when your stun wears off.

There's really not a lot to counter flashlights. The only real way you can do it if you want to hook someone is to face a wall when you go for the grab. Obviously not every flashlight user is good. But when you're facing a SWF team that is all running flashlights. There's no other way to counter it. Wait till you down one next to a wall. Move your camera or walk to the hook backwards. Put them on the hook. Face camp the person.I'm very against camping myself. But at this point there's nothing wrong with just face camping them. They don't care that you're not getting points for hooking survivors. And if you let that person off the hook. It's just going to be a struggle to get the next person to one. Slowly face camp until they're all dead. Even if you face camp... They'll stay around the hook and not work on gens. You lose 0 time in these situations.
You are actually right in this, sorta. The "Bully Groups" tend to ignore gens, unless they are gen tapping and teabagging you. and will usual;y try to brute force a hook. Sometimes I can get more hooks, if they aren't survivor gods.
However I think it's dumb that I get punished in this situation next patch. If theres 2 people trying to unhook, it makes sense to stay near the hook, and try for a second hook. (or even third!)

THANK YOU to whoever posted the flasdhlight tutorial. Finding semi-recent guides for this game has been... Hard. There's almost no community. it's like it's well known this is an unballanced game or something...
-
Play Hag, put traps on the other side of every window and pallet around kill, walk away, tp back, get 2 hooks for 1.
-
I look to the side, and get blinded still. I'll try looking up.
How do i fake picking up someone/ put them back down?
Slugging does NOT work, everyone has self care, or another way to pick themselves up. So, unless i'm missing a tactic, this one has failed me.
Franklins Demise: I should NOT have to spend 5 bucks on a dlc and countless hours grinding a killer i don't want to get a perk that partly counters what seems to be an OP tactic.
Franklins demise again: The amount it pulls off the battery of the light is negligent. When they are running 2 yellow batts on a yellow light and have 18 seconds of light time, that's 9 kill drops per light, and that's just uncommon rarity. Maxed Franklin gives a 10% regression on that. It's really not a good help once you do a little math.
I do appreciate the feedback. i'll try the looking straight up thing, I hadn't thought of it since turning around failed me.
-
I agree with the guy who's videos taught me how to play Hag. Not on everything. But most of it.
I've been asking myself this for the past few days "What do the devs want this game to be? and what do they want it to play like?"
Another question I've asked myself: "What's wrong with these generators that a guy just needs to go up to one with his bare hands and fix it? Is it just bad wiring?"
Survivors should have to get a few parts per generator. knock the number of gens to one per survivor. Keep the skill checks for putting them on (but for the entities sake add some variety to the check)
This would promote more map roaming by survivors without making them do stuff that isn't paramount to there survival (i hear them complain about clearing totems and chests for score) And slow the game down a bit in a natural way.

It bothers me too when we have a genuinely good game where both sides play well and people have to rub in their victory at the exit gates. I just leave, but I obviously cannot speak for all survivors. I always make sure to have my profile on private because of how sweaty people can get when they can't take an L. I'd suggest doing something similar of that nature. Also, if you play on PC you can hide the chat. Just press the arrows next to the text box, and it should collapse it. Don't let the bad behavior get to you, I promise decent folks still play this! Not sure if setting my profile on private will help since its accessed through the game, but I'm going to try it. I can deal with the tea-bagging. It will exist in all pvp games. But the hate mail was really really getting to me.
-
Your complaint of Tunneling is not valid.
You have 3 lives. Learn to juke and handle a chase.Tunneling is litterally part of the game. Sure, don't get me wrong. I'de rather smack your unhooker before they gets to you so I can get 2 hooks and pull someone else from a gen. So the game isn't done in 4 minutes (twice the time it takes a single person to be sacked if they resist the whole time, which means that if you and your firends are good, they can ignore you on the hook, open the gates, then get you)
In short, get better. It's not a problem for decent survivor groups.
-
@Tsulan said: Stuff that makes sense
>
Valid point. Guarding more then one kill is definately a good time to camp.
I've also camped if there is someone on a hook right next to an almost done gen. Just seems dumb to walk away from that. Also, some of the killers might want to camp and get the rescuer, as there kits seem to be geared to that. (IE: wraith)
-
@Tsulan said:
Game is terribly survivor sided. Killers are there to entertain them. You already bought the clown. Now guess what the killer is for survivors. All gens can be repaired in 3 minutes or less.
Killer has to do 12 hooks in the same time.
This won't get any better, since now killers will be punished if they camp.Rank reset happened, so you should try to stay on low ranks and get used to the other killers. Since hag plays so different than other killers.
Yeah I've been practicing my "Chasers" as I call them. Clown is good for cutting off rotations.
I don't understand why killers are being punished for camping. There is literally only one time camping is worth it. And that when you have someone on the hook when the last gen is done, or just after.
I stand by my previous point that there doesn't need to be TWO exits that take less then 30 seconds to open. (i don't know how long, but I just had one group open one in about that) And that they should probably have more then one door on the gate, making them open each.
-
I agree.
I track by sound a lot, and i'm pretty good at it. The sound engine is very good. But the added sounds for "ambience" take away from that aspect of the game. Music, random howling. All this needs to be toned down a bit, or at leas,t have an option in game to tone it down. -
I do tend to play to one side of the map. The Hag lets me cover a large area. but hunting outside of the area i trap is pointless against decent survivors. (i need my traps to get around windows and pallets) But there are times when nothing I do matters, in the least bit.
If anyone has some guides for killers that are at least semi-recent, I'de appreciate it.
